1. Which part of the series was your introduction to HTTYD? How old were you when you first became a fan?

i rmr it pretty well. i was abt 11 years old & my mom found the first movie on comcast on demand & wanted to find a movie for us we (my siblings & i) hadn't seen so she chose it. i rmr the year prior with all the commercials on tv & stuff & was like hey!! i rmr wanting to see this! cool!! and i rlly liked the movie!!!!! my full obsession, however, didn't start until abt a year later when she brought home this pack of the first 6 books (that's all that was available at the time!) & reading through them i rewatched the movie & we had it on dvd by that point and that was it. the rest is history

5. What type of dragon do you think best matches your personality?

oh gosh. the impulse to say my fave but whispering deaths don't rlly "match" me personality wise. tbh a gronckle, me thinks. with a personality like meatlug or shattermaster. :') they're such goofy goobers but they're also rlly sweet & i am so soft for that LOL. they remind me of the dog i grew up with with how snorty they are & the way they wag their tails :'))

thinking about abaddon, as i usually am these days. idle talking about her being an aasimar under the cut, mostly fun flavor text in the form of divine physical and metaphysical traits

essentially i feel like, for abaddon, her race is 'aasimar' with her subrace and more accurate category being 'bhaalspawn'. doesn't work like that for other bhaalspawn, (though they can still deffo be aasimar just as easily as any other race), but she is a unique case after all. she's even unusual for an aasimar, who (i think) are usually born through mortal means with just SOME kind of divine heritage/influence, but the category still fits. the labeling is messy BECAUSE she's a unique case, but basically she is both an aasimar and a bhaalspawn. both terms are correct.

(i'm not counting the Urge as one of these traits though it is a divine thing; the Urge is a whole separate deal lol i've got a different post in the works discussing the Urge specifically)

i personally am a big fan of giving aasimar special traits for the flavor text, like halos and metallic skin and different auras etc. you expect me to create an OC with divine influence/heritage/etc and NOT give them fun quirks? absolutely not. anyway i've got a list of traits in a spreadsheet somewhere for abaddon, and they fall into a few different categories re: reasoning/utility. abaddon was created to kill the world, which is a long term project tbh, so she was made to blend in and lower defenses up until the killing starts, and also make her more effective at killing. but getting genuinely close with other people is counterproductive, attachment is dangerous and distracting, so. other traits try to prevent that. ward people off if they linger or get too close. and rest is just like... you can only make something look or behave so normal when the building blocks are all very much not.

examples! non-exhaustive list.

babies stop crying/calm down when she's near - it's more of a freezing defensive kind of behavior vs a genuine calm but the important part is that they get quiet

people have an easier time falling asleep around her and sleep heavier than usual

i'm toying with the idea of people initially being more likely to trust her, or feel an instinctive calm or comfort upon seeing her. it's a fun way for me to explain the video game protagonist thing where everyone spills their troubles to you, a stranger, or asks you for help immediately upon meeting you, a stranger lol. 'more likely' are the key words here, not everyone trusts or likes her a first glance ofc, there are a lot of factors in play there, that's just one mild one in her favor.

quicker than average reflexes, slightly enhanced senses.

her skin turns pitch black when touched directly by another person. just at the point/s of contact, and it slowly fades once contact is removed. it's not painful, just disconcerting. (gotta really good mental image of this one with gortash kissing her hand and leaving a black imprint of his lips on her knuckles)

red eyes! not unusual in a dnd setting but not typical for what is supposed to look like a high half elf. irises are always red, scelra are black (just one or both) if the Urge has its claws dug in. i'm also particularly fond of thr image of her eyes glowing when bhaal himself is either in direct control or pressing in closer than unusual, or potentially if she's indulging the Urge/getting dangerously close to doing so. i know durge's eyes can glow red in game i just don’t know the triggers.

always smells like blood.

i've always figured that her blood would taste different too (she romances astarion so this is relevant) but couldn't figure out how and then ez suggested it's like when you add a lot of flavoring to a drink. basically just tastes like More Blood, lol. concentrated. blood+. she’s gotta be so appealing to vamps between the smell and taste, but watch out!

blaming fear & delight for this but god i want kissing her to taste faintly like bitter almonds. not ACTUALLY poisonous but some people would deffo get that association. bhaal said no kissing. ward them off.

flora/vegetation slowly starts to wither and die after prolonged contact with her

I just watched the 2nd episode of Castlevania: Nocturne and ran to write this post, cuz I really wanna share some thoughts and see if I can predict what's happening. And also I'd like to share my opinion on the characters, ofc.

So, beware of the spoilers ahead!

We'll start with the characters:

First up, the main hero, Richter Belmont: I don't like him. In a way he's annoying and too... pompous I'd say. Like there's too much pathos for 2 episodes and I feel like it's just his bare minimum. But he still got this tiny bit of Trevor's rizz, which makes him bearable. So I'd say 5/10. We'll see how he'll turn out, cuz I didn't really like Trevor Belmont either.

The second, Maria Renard. I love her. I didn't like her appearance much, but absolutely adore her personality. And I love that she calls Richter "a wanker". Also I like that she looks very innocent, but behaves like the last bitch to survive. Gods please let her be Richter's cousin, I will not survive that romance.

Then, Annette. I don't know if I like her yet. She she has a nice appearance, which I like, but she's very impulsive and a bit too pompous. I think she'll go great with Belmont boy, two idiots for the life.

Edouard and Jacque. Why both? BECAUSE I LIKE THEM BOTH VERY MUCH BUT SOMEONE DECIDED TO KILL THEM OFF. WHY DO THE CHARACTERS I LIKE THE MOST ALWAYS HAVE TO DIE THE FIRST??? I mean Edouard will most definitely exist for the majority of the series in his new appearance, cuz it was a very good monster design to just toss away... But still!!! My Jacques!! Why have a bbg appearance and then die?? Can he at least have some kind of role like Edouard?? Please??? Ugh, I know it won't happen. Fuck that. But 9/10 for them both. Jacques, you will be missed.

Tera Renard. I kinda like her, but she seems a bit too much of a saint. A bit boring to my taste tbh. I think she'll be Maria's trauma or smth like that. Either she's gonna be turned into a vampire just like her sister and Maria will have to kill her, or she'll be brutally murdered in front of her daughter. Also, Maria is weirdly similar to Tera's sister in appearance, so bonus points for the plot twist if she's actually not Tera's daughter, but a niece. Overall 7/10, for potential.

Abbot. The second I saw this man, I was like "hm, something is off about him" and the moment he opened his mouth I was "ah, so you are working with vampires" and at the end of the 2nd episode I just went "yep, told ya." I do like his design tho. Very dilf. Tho I don't like religion and being an Abbot makes him less attractive. He also seems like an arsehole, so 6/10.

On the vampire list I'll be talking only about one vampire, cuz all the others haven't had enough of screen time, so they'll have to wait.

So. Olrox. He looks hot. Like really really really hot. I maybe have a thing for murderous twinky vampires. Maybe. Also he's... ominous. He kinda gives off Alucard's vibes of a misunderstood guy who lost something/someone he loved, but not in a babygirl style. It's more maniacal style. Like he can have a redemption arc, but I doubt it. He's a bastard and I love it. Not a babygirl tho. But hot. Very hot. Bet he tastes like a handful of black pepper mixed with chilli flakes. 9/10 for being too mysterious and doing weird shit like leaving Richter alive saying "I'll kill you too. But not today". Why not?? That's illogical, my guy. The kid is dangerous! He is traumatized thanks to you and he's a descendant of a famous vampire hunting family, are you nuts?? Just kill the kid, you dork! It's save you a lot of trouble later, I promise. But whatever, ig...

UPD, after ep 3: so Olrox is now 10/10. No I will not elaborate. Also I ship him with Mizrak. On that I also will not elaborate. The 3rd episode speaks for itself.

- Tera, girl, face it, the Abbot is a creep, he is helping vampire.

- I'm very fucking surprised that Richard is the reasonable one in the trio. Did not expect it from him. He gains an extra point for that. Still a pompous jerk tho.

- Mizrak, I'm so sorry to inform you, but there are many gods and you probably just got fucked by one of them.

- Orlox, your booty is very nice and delicious but it distracts me from the plot, please wear some pants.

- What is going on between the Abbot and Tera?? Why'd he defend Maria?? Is he her...??

- There's something wrong about Olrox, I can smell it. Can he walk in the sunlight?? Why is he playing a double game???

- Bruh, I was right, that fuckshit of a priest is Maria's father. How unfortunate. Poor girl.

- Richter, dear, you eat the food that was bought for you by some rando in a tavern. It's a way to get kidnapped.

- Random old man in the tavern that bought Richter a dinner, do I know you from somewhere?? I think, you're supposed to be dead by now... But it could be that I'm mistaken.

- Is it me or is this bbeg (big bad evil girl) is... bland? Like everything about her is bland. Why would an ancient vampire, who lived in Egypt be a fucking generic white bitch? Red hear? Why do you style it like Syndrome from the Incredibles?? Bruh, girl, 2/10. Carmilla was so much better.

things that happened at work tonight

I had to do an employee satisfaction survey and I was as mean as it’s possible to be in a survey where nearly all the questions are statements where all you can do is choose from strongly agree/agree/neutral/disagree/strongly disagree. you may not have given me space to air my actual grievances, but I sure will make my level of frustration known

I called a mischievous little girl, no older than four at the most, a monkey, after she reached up and tapped the help button on the machine (which calls me over) while her dad wasn’t looking. with an enormous grin on her face, she spent the next several minutes softly repeating “I’m a monkey… a MONKEY” to herself while she waited for her dad to finish checking out.

our loss prevention manager had to kick a lady out of the store after someone saw her pick up a packaged meal at the deli, open it and eat several bites, and then put it back. the lady apparently made a huge fuss and security had to be called? I don’t think we have an actual security guard so I don’t know who that would be. a mystery

I watched a guide dog in training simply Give Up. his trainers were taking a few minutes at the self-checkout machine and he just collapsed on his side on the floor and gave them Sad Eyes when they started giggling at him. to his credit, he got up and was very well-behaved as soon as they gave him an actual command! but clearly he was pretty tired lol.

I listened to a couple of college-aged, musclehead-lookin’ dudes still in their workout clothes (we have a 24hr gym next door) snipe at each other while they checked out - one complaining to the other “why didn’t you put this in a produce bag, I don’t wanna put my zucchini right on the scale, it’s gross. dude you’re gross” and the other answering “bro we’re gonna wash it before we eat it, relax. dude look at you, you can’t even SPELL zucchini” which was fun. also they were lamenting the prices and cursing G*len W*ston’s name and griping “yeah right it’s ‘inflation,’ come on, we’ve all heard about the profit margins…” also also, they started grilling me about the lady who got kicked out in bullet point three, because they came into the store just in time to hear her being yelled at and desperately wanted to know all the juicy details lmao. unfortunately I knew very few details myself at that time

the LP manager went rocketing past me at one point and I looked up to see her chasing a couple of kids out the door and into the parking lot. ten minutes later, I was approached by a kid maybe 12 or 13 years old, red-faced and damp-eyed and evidently uncomfortable, with an armful of deli items. “my friends just stole these,” he explained to me. “a blonde lady chased them out?” I called the aforementioned LP manager and she hurried out to see him. he was quick to tell her - “it wasn’t me, it was my friends, but I got really really mad at them, and I wanted to bring this stuff back…” she thanked him very much for doing so, and as soon as he was out of sight we both melted.

and honestly, I don’t give a shit about people shoplifting, in the broad sense. obviously it’s a pain to me as an employee, but beyond any effect on me personally… the company can more than afford it. (although I’m not super impressed with kids doing it just for shits. it’s one thing if you’re broke; it’s kind of another if you’re 13 and just trying to be cool.) but we spent the rest of the night talking amongst ourselves about how impressed we all were with this kid for (at his age!) having the courage not only to take a stand against his friends when he felt that what they were doing was wrong, but also to take the stuff they’d stolen back and bring it back to the store in spite of the genuine possibility that he could then get in trouble himself.

like, having spoken to him, I could tell he was RATTLED. with the context it was pretty clear to me that he’d just given his buddies a good lashing. and tbh, huge props to him for that. being able to tell your friends off for being assholes is tough at any age; at 12-13 it’s fucking herculean. so. I’ll be thinking about him for a bit.

oh oh also. one of my recent favourite customers got really excited and offered me a fist bump when I remembered her name. (she’s insanely sweet and always remembers MY name so I made a point of it! but it was really cute how happy she was about it)

TLT characters as kids iv looked after

Harrow: quiet,VERY serious,take a like 6 months to warm up to you enough to even aknowledge your presence but the TINY nod hello means a lot when it happens. After a year of quiet observation and assurance that you won't bother her unless she asks for your attention. She starts to say random things to you in a tiny determined voice to test the waters,eventually getting to the point where she trusts you enough to just verbalize her every opinion. Absolutly will not so something she doesn't want to unless you explain in depth why and it seems reasonable to her otherwise it's simply unflinching,stubborn and unmoving defiance (it's very cute)

Gideon: oh Lord SOUND just...constant sound. Do NOT take away her comfort toy. Says every thought she has,sings along to every song,talks to at everyone,trying to escape constantly and refusing to do anything. Labelled a "trouble" child but really is just not being engaged with enough. Talk to her and keep her entertained and she's delightful,given half a seconds chance will immediatly try and channel her energy into helping and is very proud if you let her. Can be a bit overwhelming for some kids,but extremely protective of them. Seems to gravitate towards lonely kids

Ianthe+Coronabeth: from a well of family that PACKS their day with too much to do,like of course they want to bite everyone when you wake them up st 4am?? Their 5 leave them alone?? Sometimes gets affectionate but WATCH OUT it's usually a trap,they crave blood. Still cute tho and randomly giggles at something only they know. Rarely fights with each other but when they do their little worlds end temporarily

Naberius: He's like 4 with a personal IPad,he can talk but won't and just points at what he wants you to do. Has a habit of pretending to be upset because he likes being comforted,and will tell you EXACTLY how he wants said comfort which would be fine occasionally if it didn't entail a CONSTANT cycle of scream over nothing and then run you through the script of "shhhhh shhhhh" for 2 hours straight. Instinctively knows how to swear and will do it at the worst times for you

Cam and Pal: Too smart,will learn how to do a new thing at the worst time for their carer. Can both undo seat belts,in which Cam frees Pal, and Pal goes on a mad little baby freedom crusade letting out as many other kids as possible until caught. Chaotic bit still babies of reason,they'll only do it once per trip as little a treat. Otherwise very well behaved,they'll just chatter back and forth in their own baby code probably solving the universe's questions

Judith and Marta: Judith is the kid that is constantly trying to snitch on people for swearing,but is also low-key the one trying to trick them into swearing. At least once a trip pisses someone off to the point of having to stop baby fights,EXTREMELY concerned about everything ever. Marta is the baby doll she whispers to while obviously shit talking everyone and making SURE you know it

Silas and Colum: Silas is like Harrow but he doesn't warm up to you,he has his person and it's not you. He's here to do whatever his little baby brain needs him to do and your just around too he guessed which,I can respect tbh. He keeps a VERY close eye on the time,and will not budge on his schedule so KEEP UP. Colum is his said person,and it's obvious from how the two seamless navigate said schedule that he's put in a lot of time and a lot of care into looking after this kid. It's kinda inspiring,and also proof that mayhaps telepathy exsists

Jeanmary and Isaac: the #besties. Are kept together because they positively encourage each other. Painfully shy but trying to fight it,they'll whisper to each other an hype each other up for 20 minutes to like...ask you your favourite colour. Constantly playing pretend that their superheroes,if you play along they'll love you forever

Dulcie and Pro: she's just had surgery and she's literally trying to climb the walls,she has at *least* one day off a week for hospital appointments and has a new medication and an even bigger drive to go feral each time. She's wonderful,she's always smiling,she's tried to escape the car park and crawl under a vehicle at LEAST once. She exsists to fullfill every baby impulse that's ever crossed her baby brain and if you stop her there will be HELL (until she inevitably exhausts herself and she falls asleep,she sleeps a LOT between bouts of chaos). Pro is very gentle and very diligent with her care and explains each new medical update,medication and care need very patiently. Dulcie is trying to wiggle herself upside down and out of her seat the whole time

The Lyctors (and the 5th) as parents Iv worked for

Magnus and Abigail: so friendly and sweet,really make you feel like part of the family. They can end up spending too long chatting with you but you don't mind,and all the kids love them,greeting them more enthusiastically then their own parents. They get the whole class their kids are in little presents for their kids birthdays and for Christmas,and buy you *really* expensive Christmas gifts saying it's a thank you for caring for their kids.

Mercymorn: always complaining. You picked up her kid too early or too late,she's trying to demand you learn how to set up her kids iPad,that you bring specific snacks *just* for her kid,she calls you at 6am on days off to check the school schedule even tho it's Google-able,has said at least twice she's going to report you for?? Getting stuck in traffic but never does because she never learned your name and doesn't actually care if her kids comes home late,she just likes to complain.

Augustine: literally *always* late,not by a dramatic amount but enough when his kid gets picked up at the same time every day and he's *always* late. Never acknowledges this,just says something vaguely charming to distract you do you forget until next time. Always ceased like he's about to go to a fancy meeting but you've never seen him leave or come back to the house so many he just lives like that? His kids clothes are more expensive then your life but look way too pristine for children,your not sure these people are real

G1deon: never late,runs that shit with military precision and is about as friendly. Basically only grunts at you or silently walls off with their kid,unless he's spotted an extremely minor graze or scratch on his kid he's CONVINCED one of the other children is doing. Like,gets weirdly fixated on it,it's nothing dude stop having a vendetta with toddlers you fuckin weirdo

i’ve been absent, and i can’t be sorry (it’s been necessary), but i do miss this community and having the energy/time to participate.

in truth, it’s been a challenging past few months for me...

don’t want to bore anyone, so details below (tw: depression, anxiety, parental troubles, covid)

i was really fortunate to be really close to my family growing up. i had a great relationship with my parents. which is why it has been that much more painful for me this past year to have them slowly driven from me by the absurdity of current politics. i didn’t see it coming, i didn’t think my parents could become science deniers. and yet here i am...

i tried with everything i had to teach/reach them, but ultimately the stress of it all was causing my anxiety to reach extremely unhealthy levels. for my own health and sanity, i wrote them a long, heartfelt letter explaining why i would not be talking to them for the time being (as they refused to get vaccinated and began to behave dangerously, no masks, frequent outings, seeing lots of people). that was july. 

august my parents visited my hometown. i did not see them or speak to them. my birthday passed, i did not see them or speak to them... 

i spoke with my mother once, in september...and it’s all still just as bad. there was shouting, cursing, crying (mostly me tbh). she’s stubbornly clinging to her beliefs drilled into her by right-wing media. i wont get into them, but it’s conspiracy level bad... she got covid, she kept it from me and my brother until afterwards. miraculously she was okay despite taking “medicine” that has been proven to be ineffective against covid and potentially dangerous while sick to boot... it’s made her even more determined to cling to her insane theories about the vaccine, covid treatments, the government all of it... 

i told her my life would continue without her and dad: i might get engaged (probably would have on my anniversary except my partner felt bad i wasnt talking to them at the time), married, who knows... covid isn’t going away anytime soon, and i cant agree to disagree with her on this. it matters too much to me that they be safe. if i let it go and something were to happen to her and my dad...i’d never forgive myself for it. 

i’m not saying mine is the correct approach. i have been plagued with doubt and guilt off and on. my mom has used language that makes me feel like this is all my fault, for being anxious, for being depressed, for not just letting her have her dangerous opinions... but at the end of the day despite the pain and grief i feel for not having my parents right now, i am still better off than i was before. fewer panic attacks, able to focus at work, able to at least sleep some now. 

i started anti-depressants when my mental health hit an all-time low during all of this, and they’ve been helping too. i really didn’t want to get back on them, but i believe they’ve saved my life. 

sadly, between all this (and busy times at work) i’ve had very little time, focus, or motivation to write. i’ve barely been on here. to be completely honest, naps after work are common. the extra rest has become important. i’ve developed a sudden interest in true crime documentaries and sad movies?? i was very confused by this at first, since i’ve never ever had an interest before, but my therapist says its how im processing my trauma and grief lol 

but why write all this out on tumblr, B? well... i like to scream into the abyss here, and i also want to be completely open about my struggles and mental health, because i was at my worst when i felt utterly alone, and if this post helps even one person who might be experiencing similar feel less alone than it’s worth it.

and i also wanted to let this community know why i’ve suddenly dropped off because it is a place that has brought my joy even during the chaos of the past year or so. i am going to be participating in the upcoming zkmbb and still have my other projects ready and waiting for me to return, but for now, the queue is going to be up and running and i’ll be a bit quieter as i fight my way through this and have to dedicate extra time to self-care.

i hope no one relates to this post, i really do, because it all hurts a lot and i dont want anyone to feel this pain, but if you do? you are a warrior, i admire your strength and courage --and i am sending you so much love.

Let’s see:

First, I do feel that it’s important to split Shigaraki into Tenko and Tomura. Depending on which timeline we’re transversing, you’re going to see a vastly different kiddo.

On that note, let’s start with Tenko!

Look at that little guy, he is pure and precious and I love him. However, Tenko is already having issues suppressing his mounting quirk awakening and he is deeply repressed and smothered at home.

Now, if his quirk manifestation had occurred less, uh, tragically. I feel that it would be another thing his family (see: FATHER) would want to hide.

That seems to be that guys MO, tbh. Dislike something? Well, better bury that so deep you gotta take it out on your kids. (SORRY. This is not what the ask is about but the Shimura household has me: 😡🤬😤)

If Tenko made it out of his manifestation and his family hadn’t died & continued on their original, er, best?timeline, I think we would see a kid who is either: timid and skittish, OR bitter and sneakily hostile. I like the second, personally.

Even when Tenko was a kid, he pushed at the rules. He knows he’s not supposed to play hero, yet what does he do? He invites the stragglers over and they fucking play hero, damn his dad’s expectations.

I can see him growing into a quiet, but rebellious teen. He might push at the boundaries just to see what kind of reaction he can get from the authority figures that surround him. He would have a small, but close knit circle of friends.

This clique is either: the outcasts, or a hodgepodge of gathered students. Think something like, mm, a collection. That one goth kid, who’s not quite edgy enough? They hang with Tenko. That jock who’s a freaking ace a math? She’s eating lunch at Tenko’s table and the two of them are going to swap formulaic strategies.

That’s the other thing about Tenko: kid is smart, smart, smart. So smart, he’s bored 😑 The material and rigor of work just isn’t cutting it half the time.

With that extra time he’s going to be reading, watching the news, or consuming blogs and channels. There’s a lot of things that bother him about this society of theirs & his dad is right about one thing: Heroes spend all this time, all this energy into helping strangers. Meanwhile, their families are left to pick up the pieces. It’s not sustainable and it’s not right.

Oh? Were you thinking I’d make Tenko a hero junkie? Nah. That’s his sister’s territory. He’ll talk about hero stuff with her, but it’s always edged with some biting criticism. Tenko is more of a pessimist, he’ll leave that optimistic, heroic, bullshit to Hana.

Long story, short: Tenko is the quiet rebel. Teachers know he’s likely behind some of the alternative student newspapers (they’ve been banned, over and over, for their anti government, anti hero, and anti surveillance state content) but Tenko is too smooth, too careful. He’s got that dark hair, big, innocent eyes and he know’s he’s a handsome guy.

You sure it’s him, miss? His father is an upstanding businessman, he would never, ever want to jeopardize THAT.

Now, to Tomura:

Uh, The school would be closed because, oh no, he killed that guy in a fit frustration and rage.

Honestly? While I hate, hate how Tomura was raised, isolated and manipulated, the one thing AFO did that likely helped Tomura, was not sending him to a school.

We’ve had some scenes of how school life is. Well, at least middle school life (I’d argue that UA and other hero schools are strict outliers). Kids are mean and kids can be so, so cruel. Combine that with Tomura’s early, instability and repressed memories? Yeah, that’s a big, bad combo.

I can see the school trying to curb him at first. But, that’s not a long term solution. Besides, his Sensei is telling him to do what he wants, to act on those urges.

Yeah, he’s in and out of suspension and shuttled from class to class. They try small groups, they try individualized instruction, they put him in whatever Japan’s version of Special Education is. In general, he’s the leftover, the kid who’s beyond help. They’ve given up, but legally, they can’t just stamp: OH WELL on his head and call it a day.

Now, AFO is loaded, I guess 🤔 I actually don’t know, but he is hundreds of years old & has access to insane resources, so yeah, he’s rich. ANYWAY. Even if Tomura is expelled, AFO has got the clout and pull to get him into another school, or another program.

So, what’s Tomura like to others? I’d say he keeps away from most. He sees himself as a monster, something that can only destroy and wreck. He’s younger then he is in the manga and anime, so his insecurities and doubts drift into the front of his mind, pulling at him.

That being said, he does have a few friends. Most, like him, are abandoned, lost causes. They stick together and like to intimidate and hound the administration. Oh shit. They’re all huddled over there. They’re not causing in trouble right now...but all it takes is one careless turn of the head.

Tomura and his group listen to no one, especially not teachers, or kids who fit in, and are seen as normal. His rage is close to bursting most days, but AFO pushes him to keep manipulating and jabbing at others. He needs to learn how to lead and to do that he needs followers. AFO is not thrilled with Tomura’s choices, but he wants him to learn from his mistakes. He can always try again.

Being in school just hastens his indoctrination. He can see first hand how kids with strange quirks are discriminated against, pushed into becoming outliers, possible villains. This whole society is disgusting and it needs to be eradicated, preferably before his next science class. There’s a pop quiz and he hates those.

Spongebob's overhated, not talking about the show, I'm talking about the character. idk man, whenever someone talking about him, they first thing that people comes to mind is in modern one, (the flanderized one), but bro, he's more than just that and relatable as Squidward is, and I kinda blame the mordern season for it

Tbh I never seen much hate for Spongebob as a character. I mean when people talk of spongebob now, they'd usually regard Squidward and Sandy more as their favorites since ya kno, they're really likable, who wouldn't adore them? But spongebob is still well liked.

Unless this is specific to those who don't like the modern seasons. Idk much about that since I don't keep up with that stuff. But I do agree that Spongebob is relatable! Very much so. He has a hard time preforming on his drivers test because of all the pressure on him. He has a hard time saying no to people and sometimes others take advantage of that. He still remains positive through it but there are times when enough is enough, even for him.

He's really likable and remains my favorite even despite the nonsense and trouble he puts others *cough*squidward*cough* through. He's endearing and silly and just wants to have a good time and make everyone smile. The world definitely makes you feel miserable at times but I really enjoy watching him just enjoy little things and make the most of his circumstances. Actually now when I think about it, that song Living in the Sunlight that played in the very first episode suits his personality too well. Pretty much sums up what to expect from this show and what it's all about. It still leaves a positive and warm impression everytime you hear it or rewatch the pilot.

Now as for the modern spongebob. I don't think he's bad either. I still really like him. Though I consider him as his own thing. Each era feels like his personality change and I've grown to accept it. He's just a different genre of spongebob if that makes sense. Anyways usually when people talk about modern spongebob, they usually mean seasons 4-8 because when this discussion about flanderized spongebob and modern spongebob all started with people talking about that era specifically and I used to watch people's videos talking about that a lot and ehh I don't really agree with much of it anymore.

That middle era spongebob did cause a few problems and really degraded his character over time. That's generally what comes to people's minds when they talk about modern spongebob bad and generally unlikable version of sponge. Him stalking people and doing weird shit wasn't funny at all. Squidward was more humanized and seen as some dude who wanted some peace and quiet. The star of the show is constantly making him miserable and ruining his life. It's hard to enjoy. Its not like the current modern era isn't like that too.

The middle seasons annoy me a bit more but even when this happens in the modern seasons, they are really what I hate the most. It's biggest flaw of the modern seasons for me.

I feel like they're fixing it now but gosh idk who thought that was funny. The appeal of spongebob is that you saw it from a child's point of view often. You saw spongebob as just a sweet kid who wanted to play and Squidward as the grouchy adult/older sibling who doesn't notice you or pay attention but you still really want to spend time with them because you think they're a good person deep down. And you know squidward cares back too. There might be times where spongebob messes up but there are still consequences for him and generally there's a balance. You never feel like he's ever being malicious to squidward and nothing super bad happens where it feels like the universe is punishing squidward for being alive.

This was mostly season 1 and 2. Season 3 had a push for Spongebob being more of an adult. He behaved more adultish and the scenarios they were in are a little more mature. Hence why season 3 is often the most remembered season for its adult humor. But the scenarios are simplified enough for a kid to understand the general plot and adults can understand all the true implications and circumstances. There was a balance. Same as having a more adultish spongebob, his relationship with squidward balanced out too. They were closer to equals at this point and Squidward was more annoyed with him being an optimist in their bleak working environment. They were a ying and yang and you could identify with both. They both complimented each other and clashed. It worked.

Past that. They've never found such a good dynamic like that again in post movie episodes. Its been a bit wobbly. Squidward is the most easy character to identify with. While they made him more relatable. Tired, stuffy adult who just wants peace and is wasting his life working at a minimum wage job. They also wanted to keep elements of the classic era without understanding why they were funny and worked so well. Such as squidward's karma. He gets punished for just existing. Its not funny. Squidward often did get the short end of the stick bur usually you'd understand why. He became more of a depressed individual getting punished for being alive. It's not funny.

At the same time spongebob's personality regressed into being too naive to function at times and too babyish than childish. Often times I don't feel like the writers know what to do with him besides bugging squidward. But there used to be a reason why he bugged Squidward. He genuinely liked him. He looked up to him. He really believed deep down there's a part of squidward that cares and just needs a little push. It's stated in the art book. And a lot of things and rules from the art book feel so lost in the show over the years.

You can tell the writers thought of him as how adults think of small children. Loud and noisy, and only want to bug you. They sympathized with squid more but had to keep with the general formula of the show. But forget what made this show so fun was how spongebob was written from a child's point of view. Often times as a kid, you would feel ignored and over looked. Adults talk down to you. You have no free will. Spongebob essentially was a kid but without the restraints and rules a child had to live by. It was freeing and it was nice seeing someone who thinks and feels like you is on screen.

It really feels like they missed the mark with how they interpret spongebob when writing him. They degraded him into a stalker who's obsessed with squidward and torments him. He's often too naive and dumb to function or even interact with other characters. The interesting relationships he used to have feel wiped away. It's hard to enjoy it.

I mean a good example is the reason why he failed his drivings test (though this flanderization already started in the classics era anyways) he fails because he gets nervous and often needs some kind of distraction while driving to keep him calm. He does well on the exams but when it comes to demonstrating what he knows is where he messes up. Its become at this point that he's just an insane person behind the wheel and just magically screws up for no reason. His insanity causes harm to the people around him and we get some of the worst episodes Demolition Doofus. We can't even argue that Mrs. Puff is wrong for the anger she feels since she's endlessly harmed by sponge to the point of basically becoming disabled. Its not funny. It just sours what was supposed to be the golden boy of the show.

Spongebob will never be how he used to be but I appreciate how as of recent there had been some repair to his character. He's really wildly different from the classics era but I appreciate every so often when they remember an aspect of his personality that's been long gone. Even in the middle seasons. There's better episodes that remember why Spongebob fails his driving test and episodes that remember that remember squidward isn't just a tormented sufferer and spongebob is a deranged stalker.

He's kind of his own thing now but I find the modern seasons one cute and more amusing. He's still very flawed but I can at least enjoy him ya kno? I'd like to hear your thoughts on him too!

reboot!milo is just dan-like enough that it’s making me wonder… what do you think dan would do if he DID raise milo, but milo grew up to be scheme-y and chaotic like georgina? (i’m assuming in this scenario georgina is also heavily involved with his upbringing and not just an absentee mother, but really it could go however with her)

hmm, so, before i answer that im gonna tell you that i have a fic i'mn excited to write planned in my WH;WW verse in which.... milo wonders what if he's too much like georgina. naturally, there is a pep talk involved & this is talked through. (it's pretty heavy, but that verse is very much me making things worse before making things better, as you do.)

THAT aside... so, dan canonically falls in love with blair, remember? the ultimate scheme queen? dan himself is a schemer sometimes. even if milo keeps causing trouble and generally bringing chaos about, i think dan would still be like, 'yeah, that's my son whom i love unconditionally' dkfhgfklhgf. it's complicated - like, i keep thinking about how dan reacts to jenny scheming, and i think if it's his own son, that's his gut instinct; get worried and angry and judgemental. but parenting is a process that changes you and opens your mind and makes you grow as a person, if you let it, and dan WOULD let it. i think he would actively try to understand why milo was scheming, and (similar to giving blair that toy tiara to meet her princess needs) he would find alternate avenues for milo to behave however milo wants to behave without hurting real people the way georgie does.

i feel like if dan got to raise milo, even if georgie ALSO was raising milo alongside him (this is difficult to imagine tbh, georgina isn't a very nourishing caretakery kind of person, i don't know how she'd interact with any kid, least of all her own) i think dan would impart SOME amount of like. gravity/values/down-to-earthedness in milo? even if milo DOES end up misbehaving in georgie-esque ways, i think he'd have different limits than G does, i think he'd restrain himself a bit and whatnot.

i also headcanon georgina's behaviour to be so random and arbitrary and lawless and with no limits on bad behaviour because of her own childhood. we already know serena's mother was very absent and serena's father was gone, which is why pre-series serena was able to slip away unnoticed or unsupervised or unrestricted and do things she should not be doing at her age, getting into unsafe situations and having nobody look after her. and yes, georgina exploited her a fuckton. but georgie was the same age as serena too, if i'm not mistaken. georgina was also in places no kid their age should be, doing things no kid their age should be doing. which brings about the question of like. what were georgie's parents doing? why was she acting out in this way?

when we DO see georgie's parents in 1x18 we know that they're, uh, very strict and apparently the best option the gang has at getting revenge on G, and they send her away to jesus camp where she becomes all super religious. i think it's safe to say that jesus camp in particular is a cult, or at the very least, cult-like? i don't know. i just feel like georgie's parents would've been terrible people.

and if dan is in milo's life... milo has dan!! milo has at least one parent who is sort of in his corner. in my WH;WW verse, dan is married to georgie in order to protect milo (told u it was heavy!) but he DOES divorce her eventually. because i wanted that au to be whump AND fluff, dan is very, uh. he does lose a lot of agency to georgina (because he's dan and she's georgina and. there's literally no way a dangina marriage wouldn't be absolutely shitty and fucked up for dan) BUT dan is actively putting himself in those positions so that milo has a support system and a reliable parent, which he would not otherwise. and i deliberately characterised milo in that AU to share a lot of value systems with dan!!

basically, i feel like georgina turned out the way she did because both her parents were unreliable & unsympathetic, among other reasons. and i feel like. if dan's in milo's life, milo is NEVER gonna be in that situation. because georgina is georgina, but milo has dan. and even if milo DID have schemey traits, he wouldn't be as 'burn the world down' as georgie is. i feel georgina is as 'fuck everyone and everything' as she is because of things that happened to her in her own life, things we never see or go into because G isn't a main character, but things i think dan would protect milo from.

did this make sense? after every paragraph or so my parents' dog came up to me and asked for kissies and head-pats, so i feel like my essay structure and general repetitiveness were worse than EVER over here. fingers crossed this still makes sense though dlfkkhfgdklh

A/n (and disclaimer): Dear magical tumblr friends, I’m really moved by the great reception this series has had. It is my baby, my first series and also my way of  navigating through these trying times. I hold it dear to my heart and knowing you guys like it just makes me ten times happier. Having said that, please don’t hate me for this chapter. It’s peak drama. It can’t get much worse than this (in this series, at least). It broke my heart a little, tbh, but it is important. There’s angst. Both Draco and Ernie behave like arseholes. A little bit of swearing...I’m crossing my fingers for you to like this. 

I have also have some news. Remember when I said on the last A/N that chapter 5 was the middle of the series? I lied a tiny bit. I had planned for 10 parts. Now we have 12 lol So this is the actual half of the series.

(Y/N) sat in the farthest corner of an intimate muggle restaurant. She looked at her wristwatch for what had to be the twentieth time. Draco was two hours late. By now, (Y/N) figured she shouldn’t be surprised. What disconcerted her the most was the fact that she had waited for him. She was about to ask for the check and apparate back home when he waltzed into the restaurant. The man who (Y/N) saw approaching to her was not the sweet and very troubled friend she cuddled with, but rather the asshole that used to bully her and her friends back in school. He walked with his chest puffed, a cocky smile on his lips and an arrogant expression on his face. He was not her Dray, but rather Malfoy.

It took her no time to figure out he had been drinking. (Y/N) rolled her eyes, trying to disguise the hurt and disappointment she felt. He regarded her seriously for a minute. Draco hadn’t seen (Y/N) since that incident at the manor. They tried really hard to keep in touch. Draco’s life at the moment, though, didn’t allow for a lot of profound communication, mainly because he wasn’t honest, not even with himself. He’d drink every single day and party every other night. He’d wake up with strangers, squander his fortune in casinos and pick up stupid fights. Without fail, their owls would travel back and forth every week, but the letters sometimes mounted to absolutely nothing.

Seeing her in front of him, Draco found (Y/N) as beautiful as ever. He realized he was still in love with her, despite his efforts to drown his feelings for her – along with everything else. Perhaps, as contradictory as it sounds, the frustration he felt while having (Y/N) (Y/L/N) in front of him, made him behave like his old self. She was a symbol of everything he wanted and couldn’t have, of every bad thing he thought about himself, of how undeserving and inadequate he was. Much like when he was in school, all of that turned him into an absolute prick. 

Draco asked for a whiskey. As he did so, he checked the waitress out. (Y/N) scoffed.

“What?” he defended, as the redhaired waitress walked away, “she’s pretty for a muggle.”

(Y/N)’s eyes widened. He had changed so much in three years after the war…and now he made comments that took her back to her first few years at Hogwarts. (Y/N) wondered why had she accepted his invitation for dinner in the first place. What was she expecting, really? Her friend – if you could call him that at this point – was not there anymore. He was replaced with the insufferable git Draco Malfoy was meant to be all along.

“So,” he said, trying to diffuse the tension, “what’s new with you?”

(Y/N) didn’t feel much like speaking to him right now. She looked away. Draco was hurt by this, but he pressed on. He needed her confirmation that he was a tosser. He needed her to tell him that he was worthless, that she didn’t love him or believed in him. He needed that reminder because he wanted to kiss her so badly, but he knew he wasn’t good enough for her. He wasn’t good enough for her love or her forgiveness or faith. He wasn’t good enough for redemption. He was a villain. He had been, anyway. And people believed it. So, he had to play his part.

“Are you still with MacMillan?” he asked, trying to act nonchalant, as if the news of her relationship hadn’t affected him deeply.

As (Y/N) nodded, Draco’s whole body was filled with jealousy. He knew he couldn’t be with her. He knew she was better off with someone like Ernie MacMillan than himself.

And yet.

(The combination of those two words seemed to haunt him whenever (Y/N) was the topic).

“Even you can do better than that,” he spat.

He was being so nasty that his self-hatred was reaching dangerous levels. People believed this façade to be his true colours, even more than when he actually tried to reveal himself as he truly was. Why, then, wasn’t (Y/N) leaving? Why was she still sitting in front of him? Why would she look at him with those wounded eyes, with that broken heart, and yet keep giving him chances?

The waitress came back with their drinks. The brief interruption allowed (Y/N) to take a deep breath. She still didn’t know what she was doing there. Even if it was her love for him that glued her to the table, at this point he had already exceeded what was acceptable and even healthy. She was on the verge of tears.

“Why are you behaving like your idiotic Hogwarts self?” she asked.

“Speaking about Hogwarts, how’s the teaching?” he countered, completely ignoring her question.

(Y/N) sighed and for some reason decided tell him. Maybe that would shift the atmosphere a little. She told him that her approach to DADA tried to resemble professor Lupin’s: theory and practice in every single class. (Y/N) talked so passionately about her job and her students that it was hard for Draco not to hang onto her every word. For a second there, (Y/N) saw the ghost of a genuine smile playing on his lips. In that fleeting moment, she felt satisfied.

This feeling, of course, came crashing down with his scornful remark: “that’s good enough, I guess”.

“What is that supposed to mean?” she asked through gritted teeth. She wished he had just shrugged it off again, but he had an answer ready and he shot to kill.

“Well, (Y/N), you know what they say,” he said, not even meeting her eyes. His finger was playing with the rim of his empty glass.

“No, Draco, enlighten me. What do they say?” she asked, bracing herself for a scathing remark.

“Those who can, do; those who can’t, teach,” he answered offhandedly.

(Y/N) felt the anger scorching her insides. She glared at him, a fire in her eyes Draco hadn’t seen in the longest time. In that moment, all of her sadness fuelled her irritation as she stood up. The seat fell behind her.

“And she who can’t will hex you,” she stammered before stomping out of the restaurant.

Draco had finally pushed away the only person that believed in him. He thought he was going to feel a bit better, given that had sacrificed himself for her safety. She deserved better. Then why was he feeling so empty and stupid? Leaving more money than he had to on the table, he rushed after his best friend. Draco followed her to an alley where she was about to apparate. He grabbed her by her hand and noticed she was crying.

“What do you want, Draco? What else do you want?” her voice was hoarse and desperate.

“I – I’m sorry,” he murmured.

(Y/N) had to conjure all of her self control to answer to him. “I don’t know what’s the reason for you to put up this horrible façade, Draco. I can read right through you and I trust this…this git I had the misfortune of spending my evening with is not the real you. But I can’t do much about it. Do you want to live your life as the entitled prick you were back in school? So be it.”

“(Y/N)…”

“I love you, Draco. I really do. I just don’t like you anymore.”

(Y/N) didn’t even spare him a second glance before apparating. Once alone, Draco broke down completely. This was not what it was supposed to be like.

(Y/N) wiped away the tears in her eyes as she opened the door to her flat. The lights were on, every single one of them. She specifically recalled turning everything off before leaving, so she clutched her wand and walked cautiously around her duplex. Much to her relief, all she found was Ernie sitting crossed-legged in the middle of her bed. She relaxed at first, but then she realized that was also a very strange sight. (Y/N) noticed that he was clutching a notebook in his hands and was eyeing it furiously.

“What are you doing?” Ernie’s eyes shot up. She realized that the notebook he was reading was her diary and her heart almost stopped.

“What is this?” he shouted, tossing her diary at her.

(Y/N) flinched. She knew exactly what he had read and guilt started to eat her up.

“(Y/N),” he roared.

She didn’t meet his eyes, fresh tears welling on her own. Ernie picked the notebook from the ground and started reading out loud.

“I love Draco. I love him with every beat of my broken heart?!” he pressed all of his anger into very single word, “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.”

(Y/N) didn’t want to listen to her own foolish words. “Stop! Stop, Ernie!”

“I believe Draco feels undeserving of a good life,” he carried on anyway, “I, (Y/N), know he is undeserving of a good life.”

“Ernie, please,” she said, her voice barely audible at this point. She tried to take the book from him, but he just ran out of the room, reading and mocking her in the process.

“I hope those self-destructive behaviours don’t consume him,” he continued, “I, on the other hand, sincerely hope they do.”

When (Y/N) could finally retrieve her diary, they were engulfed by a rancorous silence. They stared at each other for the longest time, not moving an inch. She was inconsolable. His heartbreak pushed him to behave like Draco less than an hour before him.

“I am also a pureblood, (Y/N).”

“What?” the comment seemed very out of place.

“My last name is on the list of the Sacred Twenty-Eight,” he said, adopting a haughtiness she had never seen in him, “My family can be traced back to nine generations of wizards and witches.”

“Ernie, what does that have to do with anything?”

“For the past three hours or so I’ve been racking my brain, trying to think what in the world could you possibly see in Malfoy. The only logical solution I see is that you’re more biased towards blood purity than what you actually admit. Now, I can’t blame you, but –“ (Y/N)’s hand collided spectacularly with Ernie’s cheek.

Had it been a different situation, she would even feel proud about the print of her palm on his face. But rage was seeping from his every pore and (Y/N) felt humiliated. Before he could retort, she barked:

“How dare you!”

“I’ve given you everything. I tried to make this work, (Y/N). I really fancy you, love you even. But not even once have you said those three words to me and yet that…that death eater trash gets all the praise and love and poems and multiple entries on your diary? Bloody hell!” 

(Y/N) didn’t know why, but the first thing that occurred to her was to defend Draco Malfoy from Ernie: “he’s not death eater trash.” In that moment, she seriously wanted to slap herself.

Ernie looked at her as though she was insane. “Is that seriously all you got from what I just said?” he said in disbelief.

Before she could even answer he just shook his head. “You know what? Just forget about us, (Y/L/N),” he said before storming off.

(Y/N) sat down in the middle of her room. She felt like a bad person, a very stupid bad person. She had let Draco stomp all over her feelings and broke Ernie’s heart in the process. Why were feelings and relationships so hard and confusing?

All of a sudden, she felt a pair of arms engulf her in a hug. She smelled Ernie’s cologne and sobbed loudly into his chest.

“I am very sorry,” she said.

“Listen to me, (Y/N). I hope we can be friends in the future. I’m much too hurt right now…and I’d be lying if I told you I don’t resent you,” he said wiping away the tears from her eyes and forcing her to look at him. He was also crying.

“But you’re precious and I’d be honoured to have you in my life in whatever capacity,” he finished.

“I feel terrible, Ernie,” she sniffled, “but it would be an honour and a pleasure to have you as my friend…eventually.” They shared a hug and cried a little more.

When they both calmed down, things were strangely nice and light between them. Ernie praised her writing and encouraged her to publish even more.

“I know you adore your job as a teacher, love, but this,” he said pointing at the catastrophic diary, “is really your thing and the world needs more of your writing.”

(Y/N) couldn’t believe her luck. The fact that he was still here, regardless of what had just happened between them, made her heart swell. She was mesmerized by his Hufflepuff traits, his loyalty and friendliness showing up even when he was hurting.  

Before he left, he kissed her forehead and told her a few words that would haunt her dreams:  

“Be careful, princess. Malfoy really doesn’t deserve you.”

OKAY SO. 

It’s not that often that I talk about what I really think about Jiraiya, and I guess I mean more how I feel about him, since I always try to write my ‘deeper’ headcanons/metas from a more... idk, trying not to get too emotional about it point of view. Basically it’s because I know how controversial he is, and I pretty much ritually avoid a lot of takes because I don’t want to get irritated about something that really doesn’t matter much in the grand scheme, because we’re all entitled to our opinions and I largely get my say through the act of writing and developing him how I see fit.

Which is enough for me, mostly, but for the purpose of reinforcing/building upon how I see my muse’s plight, working through some of my Sannin-feels and also to dip my toes into why I find blindly judgemental/single-faceted takes of him, his priorities and the Sannin’s bond so exasperating, I kinda feel like rambling my thoughts (feelings) anyway! 

Politely sticks this stream-of-consciousness mess under a cut.

So sometimes I do think about the fact that Jiraiya kinda, lmao, forgot about Everything Else in the world because of Orochimaru and his (frankly) obsession with him/them. And the fact that a ridiculously significant portion of bad shit that happened is down to his actions/inaction. And the fact that he really did go and leave the likes of Naruto (and maybe to a degree Kakashi, although there’s zero actual evidence he didn’t get involved given the strong indications of a great rapport in the canon), just because he was so hellbent on pursuing Orochimaru, who was not even shown to be affectionate towards him at the best of times. When I think about it in terms of Jiraiya being gone and the main reason we’re given for it, things suck for a number of people, and quite largely because of potentially unrequited/horribly communicated/obsessive JiraOro pursuits, in essence :’)

(And for all it’s still quite the rarepair, Jiraiya does express on accounts that he was destroyed when Oro left. I mean... this is the guy who rarely acknowledges his sadness so... It’s not my bias at all I sware)

Of course JiraTsu is very real in my eyes too, albeit a very different kinda tragic, as is OroTsu. And the messy poly ship? Ohohoho, even better, but... yeah. Tsunade does at least go her own way for a long time, as messed up as that is in itself, for reasons including the fact she seems to pointedly not heal or move on from her grief. And given the absolute debacle that was her and Jiraiya reuniting... and both her and Oro even discussing a possibility of sacrificing him... and just, them in general for that whole arc :’))) yeah. They are without a doubt messy and troubled, but even despite how fraught things become I genuinely think all the furtive expressions and the undercurrents of longing and the evasion of their past exhibits a history much deeper and full of lost love compared to many other team dynamics we get (otherwise the Three Way Divorce wouldn’t have been quite so horrible on them, would it? That and they’d probably have split up after Team Hiruzen was no more, if they really hated each other/just tolerated each other out of familiarity like I sometimes see speculated).

But yeah, back to our main man. Jiraiya’s intense (and frankly very Scorpio of him) love for our first series Big Bad kinda did ruin him and what he was setting out to do in some ways, to the degree that the actual story of Naruto wouldn’t be very much without him in terms of drama. I mean, he always loved a good story, right? So art imitates life, and innit just pathetic poetic.

And in so many ways it is incredibly tragic and pitiable that he’s Just Like That. Idealistic and warping everything terrible, no matter how bad, into adventure in his mind! As growth! As pain that makes you TOUGH and makes you a stronger man! As something to be pushed aside while you just keep on truckin’! Whatever anyone you love throws at you, it’s Totally Fine!

After so long narrating through his personal lens, I’ve come to realise he truly is so convinced that everything bad that happens, is sort of just... something he has to deal with and feel big and guilty and feelsy for while spinning it in ways that enable him to keep going. He just loads it on himself and sorta holds it. The fact he’s so sad and filled with sickly pining grief that he has to try and exorcise it with impulsive bouts of decadence? Fine. And it’s not abnormal at all, how he approaches things with such broad scope and just kinda... thoughtlessly wrecking-balls his way through everything he thinks is a great idea at the time. He experiences the fallout of these things and simultaneously feels the entire ravages of it acutely while compartmentalising it ever so neatly away. The crazy thing, too, is that he’s exceptionally convincing at making everything he does and how he handles things seem so grand and noble and romantic and tragic... but in a humorously self-deprecating and still ultimately very hopeful way, to the degree that I as a mun get caught up in his relentless optimism and forget he actually is a sad and heartbroken guy wrapped up in all this grandiosity.

Sometimes I do step back and look and I just think yeah, fuck, he really is a total disaster! He’s a walking disaster and he’s been so damaging to himself and others in so many ways, all because of acting on emotions and impulses without really thinking about the impact! He really did kinda give up on those who needed him and for what? A love that will never love him or prioritise him back? 

A wonderfully tragic theme that I do love with him, don’t get me wrong.

But then at the same time, there’s always more nuance to be had than just ‘he is a disaster and made bad choices, as tragic and romantic as it is, he was actually just selfish and kinda sucked in the end, pathetically whipped by his friends and unable to let go of what they had’. There’s more nuance to be had than reducing him to a purely romantically-inclined character, who just snubs everyone else for a doomed love... because in the end, I think a huge part of JiraOro’s demise in particular was that Oro felt immensely snubbed by Jiraiya when he stayed in Ame, when his loyalty to Konoha (as a place and people, not necessarily a system) and of course loyalty to his own ideals was prioritised over Oro.

To an extent, I feel like Tsunade could have been a similar case, were she not preoccupied with already having lost so much, and besides I really do think she and Jiraiya were quite firmly in best friend zone at that point. With Tsunade not being able to get comfortable around Jiraiya or to pursue any underlying affection for him because of the dumbass way he always behaved (understandably of her tbh), probably until she got with Dan, by which point I reckon Jiraiya started to really come through by showing how he valued her for her, where we see by them having each other’s backs so closely in the second war. Not to mention him generally respecting that his feelings for her have no place by the time he gets her back to Konoha.

In terms of that first split in Ame, Jiraiya, I feel, simply didn’t think him leaving was going to be a big deal, because the three were always fiercely headstrong people who had their own shit going on (simultaneously independent while also being, perhaps not to their knowledge, So Very Codependent). Not only that, but his overly affectionate ways and incessant jolliness were probably considered such a joke that he was basically like ‘they’ll be fine without me’. I certainly don’t think he felt needed by them, which I don’t think is their fault or a point of angst and ‘waaah poor blameless Jiraiya’, because quite honestly, the strain on their relationship was something I fully believe even he didn’t realise he needed out of at the time. His one-track mind was just on ‘save kids, teach kids, this is right, must seize opportunity to be the change I was told I’d be, not continue with this godforsaken war’

Selfish? Maybe. Well-intentioned? Certainly. Intended to hurt anyone or imply he stopped caring? No.

In essence, when it comes to why in the end Jiraiya seemed to be so horrendously bad at being around at the worst of times, at being responsible, whatever else (and I’m not even going to go into scenes intended to be comedic because, they are comedic)... I’ve got to look at it from more than just one view. It’s easy to say ‘he’s ridiculous and terrible because he pretty much flaked on what was important based on his whims/a doomed love/his dick’ (which I have seen said lmao) but there are so many other things at play here.

So I’m thinking, while he was shirking duties (godfatherly mainly)... did he actually consider that his most important duty? Was it anyone’s place to tell him it was? Minato didn’t, as I recall, and when he sacrificed himself he specifically left it to the Third because he (presumably) respected what his teacher was about and knew he wasn’t for staying put. Did Jiraiya not consider his primary duty to be to the prophecy, and in a more general sense fixing the big wrongs and trying to foil big dangers to his home? Were these things not pretty much what he existed for (as much as his faith wavered and went off the rails at times)? Was that not the main source of any real purpose he ever had, being a kid who showed practically no ambition before? Did he not pretty much redesign himself as being ‘from Mt. Myōboku’ rather than Konoha after two devastating wars, and thus is it not understandable for him not to focus solely on Konoha—not outright destroying it, still ultimately loyal to his home and not about to let anyone destroy it, but seeing that the world is in fact so much bigger than just his little town? Is that really something that’s so bad and wrong of him, in a story where the main cast’s country has a pretty fucking nasty system and is established to do so very early on? Is he not pretty revolutionary in his own brand of not blindly serving, but not going on a destroy-it-all frenzy either?

Also, was he not the only one who actually bothered to investigate Akatsuki and the forces that would see Naruto dead, in time? For all he did help bring Akatsuki into existence in ways, it was inevitable from before he even met the orphans that they were going to be groomed/moulded into what they became, regardless of whether Jiraiya came onto the scene. Jiraiya leaving them was just a different kind of suffering to what they were inevitably going to suffer anyway, and hell, with his influence at least there was a time where they might’ve stood a chance of going totally against Madara/Obito’s path, especially while Yahiko was still around. Jiraiya didn’t know that the whole thing with the Ame orphans was, by a design out of his control, doomed to end horribly. So while he felt personally responsible not knowing this, and it’s taken as a given that he was... actually, was he, when there was a master manipulator at play? Was it wrong to want to give some kids a chance?

With regards to all those things I see people say he should have stayed and fixed, that he should have been there, he should have done x y z... Is it not the responsibility of everyone not satisfied with their lot to step up to the plate and make where they live better? Jiraiya wasn’t the only adult. Tsunade, and I absolutely love her, does seem overwhelmingly to be absolved of leaving Konoha because... ??? Kicker is that she too is related to Naruto, of course. 

So... was she not also needed for the very material ways she could’ve helped at numerous points? Was she not also placing her grief and lost love before everything else? Are some reasons inherently more ok than others to ditch? As Kakashi’s generation grew up, was it not also then up to them to decide whether they’d change the status quo? Were Minato’s own generation, presumably his own peer group, not complicit in Naruto’s ostracisation? We got a slight taste of rebellion with Asuma, Hiruzen’s own son, but the fact is many Konoha-nin were overwhelmingly complacent with how things were. And yet never get demonised at all for it. Because it’s Jiraiya’s fault for... not staying and giving it all up to be a guardian who could well be depressed and unfit to raise a child... or just being a flaky as hell one that’s never there anyway because he has shit to do? (and in doing the former would let too many things go unchecked by a completely tuned-out Hokage, not gathering all that spicy useful intel, y’know... essentially he wouldn’t have ended up largely doing his job along with the personal shit in between).

Basically when I see claims saying that Jiraiya as an individual should have done pretty much everything better, and somehow been there for everyone that needed him at any given time, and that (mostly Naruto’s) suffering was a failing on Just His part because of his selfish whims... I feel like the point of his tragedy is absolutely missed. That tragedy being that barrelling through things alone is definitely a failing and harmful in numerous ways, as we see with Itachi shouldering everything alone too, and we see them both miss out on Naruto and Sasuke as a result... but at the same time, is just settling down and leaving everything else to chance not also a huge failing, when there are so many other circumstances and enemies acting against you, when you do have the power to change tides, and when so many other people refuse to or can’t seize their own agency? Jiraiya does put his faith in a lot of people too, and a lot of people fail. Don’t fail him, but in a general sense many, like Minato, fail to make the change they wanted to. That’s life in this world, it’s tragic, and after losing a lot of loved ones yeah, he retreats and goes at it alone. 

But how can he win? How does he do what’s right, other than by chasing what he thinks he can do to actually help the world, which happens to be bigger and not centred on individuals, even those he cares about?

(and remember, nobody knows Naruto is special-reincarnation-prophecy-boi, which is why I tend not to blame-game any characters for him being treated like so many orphans were because... while it’s not morally right or nice at all, it’s tone deaf to how the world is, to the fact all characters having different degrees of knowledge and priorities, and it’s insensitive of the fact most the characters had their own struggles and were just doing their best with a bad lot gdi). 

Hell though, Jiraiya even does put Oro, his big obsessive wild goose chase that whisks him away into selfish pining hopelessly devoted land, on the back burner at points. Maybe not in a lasting way, particularly by the last databook where he’s inspired anew by Naruto, but he does prioritise other shit on numerous occasions. And there’s a lot of shit to try and prioritise.

What I’m trying to say is, Jiraiya can’t solely be held responsible for people. Sure, he’s a character whose decisions were pivotal to events, but what of every other character in the story? Why are they not held to the same crazy high standard of doing and protecting and preventing and somehow doing everything ‘right’ that would have also meant him fitting neatly into the Konoha mould? Would other characters really have been that much better in the position of The Big Guide/Martyr/Tragic Hero/Force For Change character? And also is having a tragic Chaotic Good bastard of a hero not a sign of a damn good and interesting character, that at the very least tried where so many others didn’t? Would Naruto not have been a boring as hell story, whose main protag didn’t really have much conflict to make him compelling, without Jiraiya (among others) being a mess with the best intentions? Without so many other characters having failed him, for him to overcome it and still be able to love and inspire change (albeit through sometimes-clumsy talk-no-jutsu)? Was I missing the point of the story?

............. Hmm!

No longer sure where else I’m going with this now, so.... here, I guess, ends my ode to why character hate (especially that reduces them to One Thing) is dumb, why demonising truly well-meaning characters doesn’t feel particularly woke to me in a cast full of flawed characters and horrible circumstance, and why I’ll defend this poor bastard with far too damn much hinging on him to the end I guess :’)

Honestly, like ... it's funny cause I actually liked Sophie before Season 8 aired, because I wasn't paying that much attention to her and her behavior outside the show, you know? Other than Emilia and Kit's interviews I wasn't really following the any of the actors outside of the show. But after the finale aired and everything exploded and fell to pieces, it was like a magnifying glass was put on all of them for me. And then I saw the shit Sophie had been saying for YEARS. (1/?)

Like how it wouldn't be fair if Daenerys got the iron throne because she had dragons, that Daenerys couldn't have EvErYtHiNg - as if she was personally affronted that Daenerys was so popular. And it was the same with Arya! She was constantly saying Sansa was the best character (and like, ok, a lot of actors probably say that about their characters, fine), but also going on about how 'smart' Sansa was and complaining that she wasn't as popular as other female characters (2/?) because she didn't 'act like a man'. 

Thank you so much for this long ask! To keep things organised, I am roughly going to answer this in sections.

I agree with you. I did not pay much attention to any of the cast really, and I’m still not hugely bothered about them. GOT is done and I rarely get invested in cast members. It’s characters I’m interested in. But I remember randomly coming across bts footage of the Jon/Arya hug from season 1, and I just fell in love with those two actors in particular, and I happened to see an interview with Emilia and adored her too. And that’s when I happened to see more of this cast and understand what they were like. But with the final season, and seeing pretty much everyone’s reactions that ranged from forced awkward laughter to straight up saying it sucked, it became incredibly obvious when any single person reacted positively. Even former cast members were saying it sucked, and celebrities not even involved were dragging it, so Sophie’s words on this topic (which I will touch on in a second) were put under a microscope, and subsequently everything she had said before was too. Her hatred for Dany was definitely fed to her by D&D, but there was definitely a jealousy about how other characters and actors were more popular than her. But her comments about female characters in general were so toxic.

I was even annoyed for a hot minute with Maisie too, because of all the shit she and Sophie said about Daenerys while promoting S8 (calling her power-hungry and saying she was worse than Cersei). BUT THEN. I noticed exactly what you said in an earlier post about Maisie going along with WHATEVER Sophie said. And when I re-watched those interviews it was always SOPHIE saying those shitty things, and Maisie just agreeing. (3/?) I even saw the interview you mentioned where Maisie kept changing her answers to match Sophie's. They're friendship comes off as really uneven and toxic, tbh, cause it felt like Sophie was CONSTANTLY running roughshod over Maisie.

Yeah, Maisie’s attitude initially seems off as well, especially with regard to Daenerys. But as you said, she never says this sort of thing in solo interviews, or interviews with other actors. It’s such a shame that there are so few without Sophie, so we rarely get to see what she’s like on her own. It would be one thing I suppose if Maisie gave similar answers to Sophie without much prompting, but she always has one answer, then Sophie speaks, and she changes it based on what she says. That really clearly shows you she is amending her behaviour to fit in with Sophie, which is not good. It does feel so uneven and I’ve had friendships like that and it took a while for me to cut them out. Once I did I felt much better. We obviously don’t know the ins and outs of their relationship, but it does feel very similar.

Sophie's also made uncomfortable comments dealing with racism in the past, she claims to be an advocate for mental health but then behaves abominably towards her castmates (4/?) (making insensitive comments about Kit's drinking during an interview, saying shit about Daenerys when she knows how much that could affect Emilia, etc.), the way she said she "loved" Sansa's rape scene because of how twisted it was, all that in addition to how she defended the show's final season (with it's STRONG xenophobic, isolationist undertones) even though she didn't even watch the last 2-3 episodes (5/?) - how she seemed so smug and happy about the (tone-deaf) ending, even seemed to be celebrating it when it was brought up in interviews (talk about not being able to read the room - seriously, everybody else seemed to realize it, and kept their mouths shut after the required promo period) - her history of sicking her fans on people who disliked Sansa/said anything negative about her on social media even when they didn't @ her (6/?) 

Her comments about race and mental health always made me uncomfortable too. I was sympathetic to her struggle with mental health, but then she invalidates everyone else’s struggles and it just made me dislike her even more. You can’t be an advocate for mental health and then say stuff like that about other people. Those two things do not go together. You could see when she said that stuff about Kit’s drinking that, though the audience laughed, everyone in the cast including Kit gave awkward smiles and giggles to cover how uncomfortable they were because they didn’t want to make a scene. And the way she talks about other characters is disrespectful. These characters mean a lot to the people who play them, and she does not react well when people give the same back to her. It reminds of John Boyega and his comments about Reylo and Ben Solo especially, knowing how much his castmates, Adam and Daisy in particular, love the character and how much he means to them, and he went ahead and said those things anyway, fuelling his fans to be cruel to other fans. It’s not as bad as Sophie perhaps, but it’s just poor form when these people are supposed to be professional. Sophie’s comments about Sansa’s rape scene came straight from D&D’s mouth, but she has to be at least a little self-aware about how that sounds and how gross it is, especially when she loves it because of how gross it was. You don’t see Emilia defending Drogo, do you?

Her reaction to the ending was so telling because it was the single positive opinion in a sea of negativity. Everyone else, including people no longer in the show and celebrities who were never involved, hated it and called it out to varying degrees (there was still contracts to fulfill) for how tone-deaf and nonsensical it was, and there was the table-read were everyone was devastated, but Sophie was grinning the entire time. She liked the show because her character won in the end. Sophie is not a writer, and it’s obvious when she praises the writing of this show (and criticises others which had far fewer problems than this). She did not care how nonsensical and crass the rest of the show was, as long as her character ended up on top, and then went out of her way to criticise people who hated it. Other actors have done the same, but on top of everything else it’s not a good look. And don’t even get me started on her behaviour on social media. It’s gross and not something we can blame on someone else.

after all that, everything about her just reeks of this 'woe-is-me I'm so oppressed white feminist' bs. It makes it impossible for me to like her now. Like, I think I'm only 1-2 years older than her, I don't come from nearly as much privilege as she does, and she has all the resources in the world to be educating herself and improving herself but...I don't see anything resembling that kind of growth in her. Yeah I can only agree. I’m five years younger than her and you would never catch me acting the way she does. She’s 24, she’s an adult, and obviously early fame and the producers affected her, but at some point we can’t keep absolving her of blame. She could be educating herself and alleviating her own ignorance, but it seems like she’s just doubling down. Maisie has had the same troubling influence from an earlier age, and she is younger, but she is not acting this way. I’m not hugely into following actors’ lives as I said, but when this was brought to my attention it rubbed me the wrong way. I am perfectly fine to ignore her as best I can, but I don’t have to like her. You don’t have to like celebrities if they’re not great people, and I don’t like her. And I’m glad the show is over so her castmates can go on to bigger and better things and leave that toxic environment the show created behind.

As a disclaimer, Ed Edd n Eddy isnt really a very deep show- Theres just tidbits of something deeper sometimes you can gather about the cul de sac and the kids we focus on in the show. Ive watched through the show from episode 1 to Eddy's movie and the last episode. But its been a hot second since Ive been a kid myself and I havent really sat down to watch it in a long time tbh.

Another disclaimer is, even though they share a godtier does not mean they will have the same personality! Since Personality by itself pretty much is not as relevant to classpects as much as how the aspects seem to bend around the person in question as they grow and delevoped. That being said..This is gonna be a long ass read. Im so sorry. I have THOUGHTS on everything.

For Nazz, throughout the show we see her literally making almost every boy in the Cul De Sac crush on her, she has no confirmed feelings until the last movie, where she and kevin want to date. Unlike most heart players in canon and the ones I have met or seen good protrayals of, i dont think she has unrequited feelings and we clearly see as much, but it sure does give me the same energy as Dirk's frequant troubles to just finally spit out his feelings for Jake through extreme indirect means, and how Heart players are actually way better at controlling how or showing how they really feel waaaay more than people give them credit for- This isn't to imply heart players are Emotionless and never show emotion, but Heart players are firmly NOT all sweethearts who are innocent, do no wrongs and are definitely not always bubbly fangirls like Meulin- Hell, even Meulin isn't really probably being honest with her own feelings on things either.  On the contrary, they can be very intense with what they are passionate about whether it be romantic or just an interest of theirs. And usually, like Dirk, they are very self aware of that fact. So they sometimes try to hold back things about themselves they are all too aware of. Sometimes to a detriment, but not always. For Dirk, its his emotions in general he tries to keep to himself. For Meulin its likely her resentment of her team members and holding back her anger at Kurloz or maybe even her feelings for Kurloz still being there.

For the Bard part of her classpect, its the idea that Bards Mirror their opposite. The thing about Nazz is shes actually very responsible! Often giving an air of being very well put together for a kid to the rest of the cul de sacs kids and cool headed more times than not. Its part of the charm. Of her acting cool and casual- And just how she behaves regularly like nothing bothers her, but sometimes you can tell it does or just might (almost like a passive ghost of hpow Dirk acts). You learn over time shes actually very smart, too; she gets very good grades, is a model student who cheerleads, and even was seen as responsible enough by the parents of the cul-de-sac to babysit Eddy. Which definitely says something, I think. This is usually how we see Mind Players- Dirk being so cool headed but only the surface is  too. Since its the stereotype at this point that Mind players are the calm ones (which I have my own opinions on too but thats another essay for another time).

DESPITE this chill and responsible facade on the surface, Nazz has SEVERAL times shown some genuine Heart player impulsiveness or thinking with her heart on a sleeve. She allows Edd into her bathroom without even thinking about it, even when it wasn't cleaned up. You see how she acts on emotion like humouring Edd a lot through the show even by kissing him at one point and dancing with him even when it wasnt the popular thing to do, she humours Kevin but lectures him for his own impulsiveness on pure anger towards the Edds frequantly, passively destroying someone elses impulses and making him think before he acts a little more; In spite of this too, she also can get violent towards the Edds herself and irritable when things dont go her way, and we even learn Nazz for all her coolness and popularity, still has insecurities shes VERY emotional about- her hair being one. Much like Dirk does about this or that. Im sure theres further proof to get what Im saying across, but Im rambling as is. So thats where Ill end that tirade, I think it REALLY fits Nazz.  So theres my conclusion.

For Jonny 2x4. Its easier to tell you why I think it fits him, and Id say its for far more obvious reasons when you really get down to it. Hes probably an example of a Bard that simply hasn't learned how to gauge his aspect very well in every day life, leading to him becoming more of an annoyance to those around him much like how you see Cronus or Gamzee be treated. Someone who hasn't quite "gotten it" yet. I don't think this is nessasarily because Jonny is stupid though, at least maybe not as stupid as he makes himself out to be, since hes shown to definitely have some intellegience, more like its because hes Younger (theres no direct ages we know of?), but he does act a lot younger than Nazz so thats my best assumption, and hes also in a seperate enviroment from Nazz, who I personally see as a far healthier Bard for reasons I'll be getting into in a minute here. just know. Jonny has similiarities to Nazz with how the Heart aspect bends around him; Theres too many instances to count where hes just being impulsive but he tries to come across as braver or calmer than he really is. But if I admitted all of them for Jonny, we'd be here all day long and you'd be reading even MORE.

Lets just go with the obvious signs outside those then.

Jonny is a very lonely kid. This is similiar to Dirk too; Jonny is never seen with any genuine friends except his attempts to befriend the Edds, as stated before some kids in the cul-de-sac consider him to be an annoyance due to his own impulsiveness, and this because hes a very socially awkward kid because even in his own home theres rather dark implications of Child Nelgect or something happening. Even the Creator of the show states this interesting quote in an interveiw: "He'd be more or less thrown out the door at 9am and only let back in when it got dark or if it was time to eat. He had an imaginary friend. " Hes that lonely kid who was so lonely and felt so much so he had to resort to Imaginary friends, imposing an identity to an object that seemingly has a similiar personality to his own or a personality that meshes well enough for them to "get along" and to not get along sometimes- this is seen constantly with Jonny talking to Plank. Jonny sometimes disgrees with the morality of Plank, but hes also best friends with Plank and if I remember correctly, Jonny even says at point they are as close as brothers- PLank knows him more than he knows himself, as Jonny says. Sometimes Plank suggests even illegal things - things a little kid like Jonny (supposedly) wouldn't know about or do himself. Almost like Jonny knows weird things from listening to his parents and imposed them onto Plank, making Plank "real" so Jonny could stay in his own head and pretendHE doesn't know anything. If that makes sense.  Much in the same manner as Dirk having conversations of various focuses with HAL and objects he himself has inputted his will or rather - his Soul and Heart onto.

Thinking about this some more. I think an arguement could be made that Jonny isn't actually a Bard of Heart, but maybe a Bard of MIND. But IM not so sure.

If i think of anything more to add to this, I might revisit my thoughts on it later and reblog or edit it more.

DISAGREEMENTS

Who is more likely to raise their voice?  Jacob. Now don’t get me wrong, he doesn’t loose his cool all that easy but Rheese can be a pain sometimes and he lacks the patience.

Who threatens to leave but never actually does?  Neither of them.

Who actually keeps their word and leaves?  This is actually what Rheese does when they break up about three months before the game. He finally is too deluded by Joseph’s demands of him that she cannot get through to him anymore and keep him from hurting people. They have a pretty bad fight about him torturing people that ends with him actually slapping her with the intention of making her shut up because she wouldn’t stop arguing against him. She gives him one moment to apologize for that, but he doesn’t so she leaves :’)

Who trashes the house?  They frequently throw things at each other.

Do either of them get physical?  Depends on when. Jacob pushes her around sometimes or touches her pretty roughly when he suffers from the effects of his PTSD. No domestic violence though. They also land real blows in training fights, same level bad on both sides really.

It’s worse during the arrest when they aren’t together anymore. Jacob was pretty devastated when he realized she actually left for good (he interpreted ‘i am leaving’ as her going home). It resulted in a lot of self blame (justified) which his family couldn’t really deal with. Joseph convinced him in the end that she was just another test he had to overcome in his life to find his correct path. So, he pretty much behaves just like he does in-game. She doesn’t get special treatment, she gets starved and thrown into murder trials like everyone else.

How often do they argue/disagree?  Pretty often. In the beginning it’s all they do, until they realize that having normal conversations every once in a while isn’t so bad actually.

Who is the first to apologize?  Apologies are for the weak :)

SEX

Who is on top?  Jacob

Who is on the bottom? Rheese (though she won’t admit it if you asked her)

Who has the strangest desires?  It’s nothing very strange tbh (at least not by my definition of strange... god i’ve seen ... things on deviantart. Definetly none of that!)

Any kinks?  Yeah, the perfect combo of wanting to feel powerless and wanting to feel in control. It complies with their character really. Rheese was forced to take care of herself ever since her teen years, which developed her into a pretty tough person. She likes the control she has over her life, and doesn’t let herself be pushed around by anyone. Feeling stripped of that control is however really exciting for her. Jacob’s kinda the other way around (imo anyway) in that he’s constantly following orders nevermind when or where, even within his own family (to not disappoint Joseph).

Who’s dominant in bed?  Jacob, Rheese only if he forces her to be :)

Is head ever in the equation?  Yes

If so, who is better at performing it?  Rheese. Slightly unfair though because she’s simply worse on the receiving end.

Do they ‘fuck’ or ‘make love’?  Even the nastiest sex is ‘making love’ to them really. It’s frankly a form of talking to them because they both truly suck at verbal communication. Also, Rheese has the old fashioned rule in her life that she won’t sleep with people she isn’t sure about, so before actually being together they don’t have sex. Tho she’s close to breaking that rule multiple times.

Rough or soft?  Rough, sometimes foreplay is soft.

How long do they usually last?  Depends on time and mood. Also Rheese is a lot younger so she sometimes could go again when he can’t. However that doesn’t mean he gets the best of her sometimes :’)

Where is the strangest place they’d have sex?  Some small cabin at the place they train Judges. It was kinky, they got caught and she prefers to just not talk about it ever again.

Who gets naughty in the most inappropriate of places?  Jacob usually. But sometimes she’s good at it as well.

Who struggles to keep their hands to themself?  Jacob, and it bothers her a lot in public. He doesn’t really care about what his people think of him, he knows he’s the boss so they can’t say shit. It’s also a way of just showing off that she belongs to him and that’s exactly why she doesn’t like it, cause she ain’t property. Also, people might believe she only became a Chosen trainer because she fucks the boss, which isn’t true because she got that position from someone other than Jake, based entirely on her performance.

How long can they cuddle until one becomes uncomfortable?  Until Rheese falls into deep sleep and starts spreading her limbs everywhere uncontrolably.

Who gives the most kisses?  Jacob

What is their favourite non-sexual activity?  Honestly, just existing next to each other is enough. They are just as happy just sitting in the same room, doing their own tasks, as they are going out for a fishing trip (actually she hates fishing, but the lakes are nice).

Where is their favourite place to cuddle?  The bed

How often do they get time to themselves?  Usually evenings and nights. They would have more time together if Rheese didn’t value her alone time. Sometimes she prefers to spend her days off alone, going on a ride through the forests or just relaxing without anybody around. He doesn’t quite approve of that but she doesn’t let herself be locked up.

SLEEPING

Who snores?  None of them

If both do, who snores the loudest?  Nobody

Do they share a bed or sleep separately?  Share a bed when living together.

If they sleep together, do they cozy up together or lay far apart?  Usually fall asleep cuddling but where they end up is entirely up to chance.

What do they wear to bed?  Underwear usually. Though t-shirts along with that in the beginning.

Are either of them insomniacs?  Jake has trouble sleeping and often wakes up. Her presence helps him but she’s not a magic sleeping pill so the issue never fully disappears.

Can sleeping pills be found by the bedside?  Nah

Do they wrap their limbs around each other or just lay side by side?  Usually the first, when it’s too hot the latter.

Who wakes up with bed hair?  Both. Rheese loves his messy hair, especially after she bullied him enough into letting it grow a bit. He however calls her hay-head, because her hair gets all tangled up and poofy despite being tied into a braid.

Who wakes up first?  He does, good luck getting her outta bed before 10.

Who prepares breakfast in bed for the other?  Nobody does, they aren’t romantic.

What is their favourite sleeping position?  Rheese digging her face in the space between his neck and shoulders while one leg and one arm hugs him and he has an arm around her.

Do they set an alarm each night?  When there’s work the next day.

Can a television be found in their bedroom?  No, though she sometimes uses his laptop to watch movies.

Who has nightmares?  Jacob has real ones, Rheese only the occasional bad dream we all get sometimes.

Who sprawls out and takes up most of the bed?  Rheese, she’s a restless sleeper. Got kicked out of the bed for it more than once.

Who makes the bed?  Neither of them. They don’t care about it being untidy.

What time is bed time?  Depends. Usually Rheese stays awake longer to finish watching movies.

Who’s the grumpiest when they wake up?  Jake, esp when she talks too much in the morning.

WORK

Who is the busiest?  They both are pretty equally busy.

Who rakes in the highest income?  It doesn’t really matter to them. The cult pays food and since they don’t care much about materialism, they don’t need much money.

Are any of them unemployed?  They have their job in the cult. Rheese works as a deputy before and after her stay there. so no.

Who takes the most sick days?  Neither really take any unless they are really so sick they can’t move. It’s an unhealthy work ethic but they feel useless when just lying in bed all day.

Who is more likely to turn up late to work?  Jake didn’t before, but he sometimes does because of her in the morning. Not that he really minds though, who’s gonna say anything against him?

Who sucks up to their boss?  Jacob in regards to Joseph, which Rheese thinks is very unhealthy. She doesn’t like how he lets himself be used so much and mostly blindly follows whatever his brother says. They have a lot of arguments about this and in the end it’s what ruins their relationship.

What are their jobs?  He’s head of security at Eden’s Gate. She’s a deputy, then pseudo joins the cult and works herself up to become a trainer of the Chosen, then she returns to her deputy position for the arrest.

Who stresses the most?  He does

Do they enjoy or despise their careers/occupations?  Police work wasn’t her passion. It was just a career she thought wouldn’t be boring. No noble motives and such. She only reprises her role as the deputy for the arrest because she falsely blames herself for everyone who’s been hurt by Jake’s hands after she left him. Her return is based on her trying to redeem herself. She had fun training Chosen, but she wouldn’t want to be part of any torture cult.

Jacob barely has any opinion on his work. He believes what he does is what needs to be done and he’s the best suited person for the job. You won’t find him complain, though he secretly just wants peace in his life. He hopes the cult’s actions will ultimately lead to that.

Are they financially stable?  They have enough.

HOME

Who does the washing?  Neither until one of them is fed up with the pile in the sink or the lack of clean plates in the shelf.

Who takes out the trash?  Usually Rheese is bothered by it first.

Who does the ironing?  They don’t

Who does the cooking?  She makes good pancakes. But other than that? Don’t allow her in the kitchen because she can’t cook for shit. He can cook a couple of things but is often simply too lazy to ‘play housewife’ so their dinners often consist of very simplistic things. Occasionally one of them will bring home takeout.

Who is more likely to burn the house down just trying?  Rheese, just...keep her out of the kitchen.

Who is messier?  Both pretty much. His place is a mess and she isn’t bothered by it because her apartment looked the same.

Who leaves the toilet roll empty?  Jake, to annoy her.

Who leaves their dirty clothes on the floor?  They both just throw them wherever.

Who forgets to flush the toilet?  Jake, again to annoy her. (her ‘ewww you’re fucking nasty’ face is really entertaining)

Who is the prankster around the house? Neither, they diss each other a lot, sometimes joke on the other’s cost but no deliberate pranks.

Who loses the car keys when it comes time to go somewhere?  Doesn’t really happen.

Who mows the lawn?  No lawn

Who answers the telephone?  They answer their own cells respectively. He refuses to get a smartphone.

Who does the vacuuming?  They don’t own a vacuum cleaner. Only a broom and a mop.

Who does the groceries?  Usually he does.

Who takes the longest to shower?  Rheese, she enjoys the feel of hot water on her skin.

Who spends the most time in the bathroom?  Not much difference there. Rheese doesn’t bother anymore with any routines and such after Jake told her he hates when she wears makeup because it makes his hands sticky when he touches her face :’) Though sometimes she will still put eyeliner out of habit.

MISCELLANEOUS

Is money a problem?  No, they don’t need much.

How many cars do they own?  Jake own an old truck and a motorcycle, Rheese used to have a car but sold it. She prefers riding on her horse Nugget anyway.

Do they own their home or do they rent?  She had an apartment in Missoula before ‘joining’. Then she lived at Stone Ridge for a while, then she moved in with him to his place. A tiny cabin far up a mountain at the far outside of the region.

Do they live in the city or in the country?  Country

Do they enjoy their surroundings?  Yes, especially the forests.

What’s their song?  You Give Love a Bad Name - Bon Jovi

What do they do when they’re away from each other?  Working, doing their own thing, living. He’s more possessive about her than she is about it. But they both function normally when not being together.

Where did they first meet?  Technically at the church during her very first sermon to ‘join’ the project. But they only interacted about a week later when he’s supposed to bring her to her initiation at John’s place. They immediately hate each other :’)

Who spends the most money when out shopping?  Whoever does the grocery shopping? They both aren’t big on other shopping trips.

Who’s more likely to flash their assets?  She’s not very show off-y. Jacob likes showing she ‘belongs to him’.

Who finds it amusing when the other trips over?  Both

Any mental issues?  Rheese doesn’t really, she lost her parents and her family is extremely distant but it never gave her trauma.

Jacob still deals with the aftermath of war esp. His PTSD gets bad sometimes and he has sleeping issues.

Who’s terrified of bugs?  She is afraid of spiders, and would appreciate if he killed them when they are in the house. But usually he ends up throwing them at her and tells her it’s therapy to defeat her fears.

Who kills the spiders around the house?  Neither, see above

Their favourite place?  A small lake behind a mountain near his cabin.

Who pays the bills?  The cult

Do they have any fears for their future?  Yeah, they are very conflicted about it. Neither of them know where it all leads and their differences (esp the age one) is an issue at times.

Who’s the tallest?  He’s 6'1, she is 5'2. He constantly calls her ‘Shorty’, not in any endearing cute nickname way, but purely to mock her height.

Who’s more likely to just randomly hop into the shower with the other?  Happens with both of them frequently. Tho Jacob is more prone to this because he showers less on his own. So when she’s in there he’s often like ‘might as well join’.

Who wanders around in their underwear?  Rheese starts this trend which he really doesn’t complain about. She also argues that it makes sense because then there will be less laundry to take care of. Can’t really argue with that really.

Who sings the loudest when singing along to the radio?  She does, very very badly cause she can’t sing.

What do they tease each other about?  Her short height and his age. Always.

Who is more likely to cringe at the other’s fashion sense at times?  Doesn’t really happen but he does judge her Power Rangers T-shirt she wears for sleeping.

Who crushed first?  They both kinda did. They blamed it on physical attraction at first, which made Rheese mad because he wasn’t her type. It takes them a couple of months to actually admit they might eventually possibly perhaps maybe have feelings for one another :)

Any alcohol or substance related problems?  Not really

Who is more likely to stumble home, drunk, at 3am?  Rheese does once, and another time they do it together.

Who swears the most?  Jacob, though she’s pretty good at it too.
