Became a Jedi for his sense of justice to free his mother and other slaves suffering the same fate as her.
Unable to free her or even save her because the Republic dictates where the Jedi Council should go.
Can you imagine how frustrated and powerless he felt when he arrived too late to save his dying mother?
She's the reason he wanted to be a Jedi. Now that she's gone, he's lost, unleashing his anger on the Tusken Raiders.
Trained his padawan, Ahsoka, to ensure she becomes a better Jedi than he ever could be, seeing her as his redemption.
Almost lost her when she was framed by Barriss Offee and expelled from the Council for the bombings of the Temple.
Ahsoka lost faith in the Council she had served for so long , which can't even protect its own and so she left.
Anakin stayed, hoping that the Council will change and he will be the one to change it. Or so he thought.
Despite the soldiers he led, the people he saved, the Council still doesn't trust him and refuse to grant him the rank master.
His soldiers trust and respect him more than the Jedi, extending that courtesy to his padawan, Ahsoka.
After all he had experienced and seen, can you imagine what he feels when fears that he will lose Padme too?
The Council is the last placed he could ask for help and with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka gone, Palpatine is his only hope.
There's probably more than I can remember but you get the point. He doesn't simply fall to the dark side for lust for power.
Something happened.
Things might have been different if Qui Gon Jinn was still alive and Obi-Wan and Ahsoka were still by his side during the last moments.

Forgive the silly premise but I saw a meme video that inspired this question, feel free to ignore. The meme was Anakin and Palpatine in that "Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plageius the Wise?" scene but Anakin answers; "Oh yeah that's the story of the the Sith Lord whose apprentice cowardly killed him in his sleep. It was a real eye-opener for me, it taught me that you should never, under no circumstance whatsoever, trust a Sith."
With that ridiculous background out of the way my question is what do you think Anakin would do if he came to the conclusion that he absolutely couldn't trust Palpatine to save Padme or help him learn something that could? What do you think he'd do in that kind of situation?
I mean, my first instinct is to say it doesn't matter. Anakin is already someone who believes he cannot, under any circumstances, trust a Sith. He fully belives the Sith are "evil" and his initial response to finding out Palpatine is a Sith IS not to trust him, to turn him in to the Jedi and let justice have its way with him. But the more he thinks about it, the more Palpatine's words slither into his soul and cause him to realize that what Palpatine is offering him is worth more than the possible consequences of leaving Palpatine alive. He'd rather have Padme and doom the Jedi and the Republic than the other way around. He also is explicitly planning to kill Palpatine himself, he says as much to Padme, he's just waiting until he can guarantee Padme will survive past childbirth or whatever. So even when he chooses to save Palpatine, he ultimately doesn't REALLY trust him that much because he KNOWS Palpatine is inherently untrustworthy. The possibility of saving Padme is worth working with someone he doesn't trust. He doesn't see any other options.
But just for the sake of argument, let's say something caused Anakin to decide Palpatine couldn't help him save Padme AT ALL, that Palpatine is lying to him or something and doesn't truly know shit all of some kind of secret power to keep people from dying. There's really no reason to believe he does, so Anakin has no reason to bother keeping him alive.
My assumption in that kind of scenario is that he'd just stick with the Jedi for the time being, he'd let them kill Palpatine or kill Palpatine himself, but then he'd probably fuck off on his own to go look for some kind of cure. I don't think Palpatine's death would keep him from obsessing over saving Padme, it would just force him to run off and look for alternatives. So he'd run, he'd abandon everyone and everything in search of some kind of miracle power or cure to keep people from dying and in the process he'd still probably lose himself to the darkness and to the desire for power for power's sake alone and he'd either remember to come back too late (after Padme had already given birth) or he'd just never come back at all because the thing that motivated him originally has lost all meaning in the quest for more and more power.
Padme would have the twins, Anakin would be gone, and what happens there is probably up to you and what you think Padme would actually choose to do with two powerful Force-sensitive twins. Maybe she refuses to give them up to the Jedi and raises them on Naboo as best she can. Maybe she DOES give them up to the Jedi because Anakin left her and the twins are now a constant reminder of that loss and the pain she associates with him and she can't stand to look at them most of the time. Maybe Padme dies in childbirth anyway and the Jedi take the children with them afterwards because she gives them away in her last breaths or something. Take your pick, I guess.

Got frustrated with Ahsoka today so have two things I would do to make her more interesting, feel free to take them an make fics and aus as long as credit is given:
Darksider Ahsoka - Consider that the whole warning during the Mortis arc is actually used and Ahsoka Falls, and she becomes a Terrifying opponent because she was trained by Vader, even if in his Anakin's era.
[More under cut]
She is a Menace as a Darksider, maybe keeping in the shadows and making every New Republic secret network Unsafe because she helped set them up as Fulcrum. Worried about the Sequels? No problem! Secret Darksider Ahsoka! Everyone top level of the New Republic knows and is trying to Stop Her but Ahsoka was the Fulcrum, which meant Spying and staying undetected, she could totally do that to the New Republic where they can't do Anything to stop her You could even bring Original Trilogy Group (Han Solo, Lando Clarissian, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Chewbacca) back to act as the main heroes! Want the Rebels back too? Have them as one of the people that Ahsoka is Playing and them slowly learning it and joining sides with the OT Group! Also way to fix the live action lekku problem - too long would be impratical? Ahsoka VS Luke lightsaber fight, Luke LOSING Badly and someone grabs a saber - maybe Luke lost his or something - and cuts off Ahsoka's lekku's - saving Luke and resolving the problem. You can have her Come Back to the light side but haver her Choices haunt her after Mando contacts her because he needs help from a Jedi and he lost Luke's Number? She gives him Luke's number because She Can't help him, she doesn't consider herself a jedi even more and the republic won't allow her into any more battles in fear she will turn on them AGAIN
Maybe she is in fucking jail or Can't be put in a jail for whatever reason (maybe she came out as a Jedi survivor and explained everything she did to help the Rebellion to trap the New Republic Even More so they couldn't Act against her in public) so she is watched 24/7 - maybe by the Rebel Crew or Sabine for some reason (hence giving Sabine a reason to be with her and a whole nother stress for finding Ezra! because Ahsoka Can Not Leave Republic Space Or Enter Battles) and is trying to get back to being a Jedi, to clinging to the Lighside/Balance and trying to remember every single Jedi Philosophy she was taught
And also come to turns that Anakin wasn't the best Master for her, that he taught her somethings wrong that she will have to unlearn Alone and try to figure out how the Jedi taught it, what was the correct way to learn.
Because there are no more Prequel Jedi around to help her
Semi-Immortal Ahsoka - we all know that Star Wars media won't let people age - main example being the whole mess with Bo-Katan - and we know Filoni won't let Ahsoka die.
So! Since we know that, how about we take it and run with it?
Ahsoka who became semi-immortal because of being brought back by the Daughter so now she ages MUCH slower and will outlive EVERYONE SHE HAS LEFT THAT SHE CARES ABOUT, who will live to millions
If she doesn't die again that is
Because I'm thinking of like. A timer. That resets every time she dies
(you can take this further and say that she ends up back to the age of when the Daughter rescued her every time shed dies and maybe or not it takes longer every time for her to age past that age)
Ahsoka who learned the hard way how to be The Fulcrum via A Lot Of Deaths that earned her the rumour that she fakes her death A Lot to avoid taxes/jk
Ahsoka who grows afraid of getting the same attachment (as George Lucas Defined Attachment, not the common misconception you fools) problems as Anakin and adding in the fact that no matter what she does she will outlive people so she Stays Away from everyone even more because she doesn't want to go through the pain of losing people
so why get close in the first place?

My first real post on Tumblr, I have some Obikin fanfic to sacrifice upon this alter of many fandoms. I still can't believe Ashoka and Anakin are only four years apart and that they gave "I-cant-handle-my-feelings-I'm-hyperventilating-and-I-just-stabbed-someone-Anakin" a padawan at the age of 19. Lord.
I may post this on AO3 if I wind up writing more and can get my bro to edit for me:
Black Right Hand
When Obi-Wan had lost his arm to Count Dooku Anakin had lamented that it hadn't been him. Not because of some self sacrificing urge to protect like his master seemed to feel when he swung his saber across the space in front of him and directly in front of Dooku's saber trajectory. That was what is was though,  only trajectory, the expected path of travel which would have buried the curved red saber directly into Anakin's chest, or now, into Obi-Wan's green one but things often do not travel their expected path and it instead sailed on to the left and severed most of his master's forearm.
No, at first Anakin had wished he had been the one to lose his arm because Obi-Wan Kenobi was not the kind of man to whom a mechanical limb was conducive. To start he was not all that capable with mechanics, and was absolutely hopeless with electrical engineering. Second he seemed too…human? Too…natural? Anakin could not place a finger on it but neither his master's demeanor nor the soft grace of his soresu saber style seemed to align with having a cybernetic hand.
However nowadays it served quite well to tie Obi-Wan to him. Anakin needed to service the arm at least every four months (which really isn't asking much if he may say so himself) and in reality much more often as it seemed to be damaged frequently with the rising intensity of the war. The complex wiring and special build he had put in place to prevent anyone tampering with a Jedi High General's primary saber wielding appendage, made it nearly impossible for anyone else to perform any type of upkeep on it. There was more to it than that though. Something about seeing the harsh black mechano limb under the soft beige gauze of Obi-Wan's robes seemed to connect them. To bridge the gap between a serene light filled garden on Coruscant and a brutal storm on Sedesia, drawn in unnaturally by the high gravity, gripping the planet's surface and tearing out the dirt and plants to hide them away in space. Or at least it made them look a bit more like they even belonged on the same Republic Cruiser.
Time went on  and so did the war, his master had long become comfortable with the arm, given the constant necessity for action there was really no choice. Rex had informed him a few days ago aboard a Venator that a transmission from Cody detailed Obi-Wan's newest damage to his prosthetic and Anakin had been restless ever since awaiting news of their return. At first he had his own mission to busy himself with but after returning to the temple yesterday the nerves began to surface again.
Nonetheless Obi-Wan should be arriving back soon enough, Anakin had felt him reenter the same sector of space recently and he decided he should actually wash up today. He stepped into the sanisteam and considered maybe he'd even give snips the day off, there was hardly a point in training since they'd be deployed again in less than two days.
Yeah maybe today would be a good day for once.
Ashoka had assured a disheveled, grimey, and exhausted master Kenobi that if her master was actually taking his once monthly shower there was no need to wait on him to treat the shorn open finger joint. She could handle it and he'd be off to bed in no time, however barely into popping open the top panel to connect the diagnostic tool the sounds of steam vents shut off and her master came leaning out of his room in record time, robes tied sloppily and hair still askew. The expression on his face could only be described as absolutely scandalized as he stared at her. She fiddled with the code reader and Obi-Wan continued his lackadaisical commentary on their latest mission.
She continued the ruse of swapping stories with her grandmaster when in reality she could only feel the burning stare of her master deciding whether she was capable enough to do the work at hand. Or on hand. On the hand? Either way the scrutiny was burdensome and eventually Obi-Wan coughed mid sentence apparently having reached the limit of ignoring his troublesome Padawan.
"Really Anakin are you going to stand there and stare at her all morning or did you intend to come out and join us at some point?" Anakin's head whipped to the side as if he had been so solely focused on Obi-Wan's arm he had forgotten the man himself was there watching him lean out of his quarters, poorly dressed and ogling. Anakin ducked back into his room shamefaced and emerged again a few minutes later, robes straightened, and unruly waves combed.
After giving a curt good morning to them both he proceeded to storm out the door without awaiting further interaction. Ashoka shrugged and supplied "We must be out of caf. Master is always in a bad mood without his morning caf."
Obi-Wan seemed placated by this and snorted in shared humor. "Indeed. It seems he hasn't changed in that respect."
As the Torgrutan got into actual repairs she began to notice a rather unnecessary amount of gold plating within the actual arm, she looked at the black durasteel and its gold accent rings in question and couldn't resist the urge to ask
"Master Kenobi aren't your robes brown? I know once the war started you started wearing the same black body glove as your troopers under your armor but you don't even wear any other black, did you choose this colour? Surely you could have gotten tan or even skin coloured durasteel?"
Obi-wan just flashed her with a light laugh tilting his head in curiosity like he had never even considered this.
"Only you would deign to consider fashion choices in a war little Padawan. I hardly think it's important, but after we returned to Corusant from the battle on Genosis, Anakin told the Meddroids that he would take care of securing me an appropriate prosthetic for a Jedi. Lord knows where he found it but it works quite well, I don't see why the colour would be an issue."
Ashoka stared into the many tightly bunched groups of minute wires then braided together into larger cords, not only a sign of her master's handiwork but a sign it was a project of interest or a craft of care and not yet another downed fighter's electrical system fixed on the fly in some ungodly weather system of yet another nameless outer-rim hellscape. Her eyes finally focused on the spot she had been oh-so carefully avoiding with her screwdriver,  the unique lithographic design that had to be required to print the one of a kind chip serving as a central processor for the hand. As expected at this point, she also found the small, so so small, miniscule spiky huttese A.S. adorning the corner of the chip. The same A.S. she had seen inside C3-P0, R2-D2, various gadgets and the internal kyber crystal housing of her own first lightsaber. She had asked about it one day while she maintenanced artooie, not knowing huttese or why the strange markings on his main two processors matched the inside of her saber.
"Well snips the housing of a light saber is pretty simple but I designed it myself, and I signed it as uhh...I guess a gesture."
A show of affection was left unspoken, this conversation had taken place before they had both slowly began noticing their own individual crawls past the line of Jedi ordership and into the the soggy swamp of confused human with handfuls of friends, a thing strictly forbidden for them. They left that unspoken too though.
"And the signature inside R2?" She had asked, intrigue overwriting the warm but awkward turn of the conversation.
Anakin chuckled in response, "Well I sure do appreciate R2 but no that's...that's an engineer's signature. Fine work like that gets signed." He touted, rocking back on his heels with a satisfied hum.
Ashoka rolled her eyes and went back to tightening tiny oil slick screws, curosity sated.
Now she looked down into the arm's delicately designed inner working and thought this signature probably covered both. And maybe some other third thing if she was foolish enough to stop and consider the implications of her master signing the inside of another living being's arm.
Obi-Wan noticed her long pause and vacant gaze and cleared his throat in concern.
"Uhm, I know all of Anakin's tinkering in there seems to have made it nearly unserviceable by anyone else. If you're not comfortable I can simply wait until he returns."
Ashoka was pulled out of her pondering with a start. "What? Oh no I- Uh well actually that would probably be...." That would probably be for the best she finished in her mind. She should close up this black and gold, hand engraved arm, pretend she was not privvy to her master's design quirks and never lay her fingers or tools on it again. Unfortunately much like Skywalker she loved doing exactly what she shouldn't do.
"That probably won't be necessary. I've seen all my masters strange design choices a hundred times, I can fix you up." Design she said with emphasis. Not just wiring, not just alterations, design you blind Jedi.
"Okay then I leave myself in your capable hands Padawan Tano." Obi-Wan said this with a puckish smile like they were playing a game of dejarik she was about to win not flaying opened his prosthetic arm.
She shook her montrals and set about the slow work of divesting the exposed length of arm of the hundreds of wires blocking her path higher until she could safely remove the outer casing of the hand.
Obi-Wan squirmed as she individually disconnected wire after wire, not daring to risk disturbing her master's painstaking work by pulling out an entire bundle at once. A bit of discomfort seemed reasonable, the power could not simply be switched off for safety reasons but she had started with the bundle that would disconnect the arm's reception of impulses from Obi-Wan's remaining flesh limb and in turn sever feedback to her grandmaster's nervous system. As she began on the next bundle, Obi-Wan continued fidgeting, leg bumping and shoulders twitching despite the lack of sensory feedback as she worked.
"Uncomfortable master Kenobi?" She inquired suppressing a grin.
"No!" Obi-Wan responded quickly, eyes jerking up from his arm, seemingly unaware he was fidgeting in the first place. "It's just I suppose I never thought about it but I've never really been paying attention while someone works on my arm."
Ashoka lifted a dubious eyebrow as he went on, now wearing an expression certainly closer to embarrassment than any she had seen on him before. "It seems everytime Anakin has serviced it we are either aboard a GAR ship or inside some makeshift tent shelter and I'm either too busy with battle plans or speaking with our troops to take notice of my arm. Or…." Obi-Wan faltered now looking into his cup of tea and down at his robes still dirty from his most recent mission because commander Cody had insisted that he needed to get his arm fixed before taking rest. He had failed to mention that this implied Obi-Wan could not shower and change because they both knew he would fall asleep the minute he was clean but had wordlessly accompanied him through the temple, past the call of his own refresher equipped with a real shower (no sanisteam thank you) and taken his leave with a parting salute only when he was sure someone would be looking after his general.
Ashoka waited until her patience gave way and prompted him on, "Oooor?" she was finished disconnecting and parting all the wires at this point and was too focused on the intricate, blind work of seeking out all the internal latches that would remove the hand casing to give notice to Obi-Wan's tight lipped uncomfortable expression
"Or, I…I fall asleep." Ashoka looked up attempting to process then immediately resettled her efforts on attempting not to laugh.
"Every time. Like without fail? You're either riding a battle high or passed out on the table while Skyguy sticks tools in your arm?" Ashoka tried her best to keep from chortling but her wording betrayed her amusement quite clearly regardless.
Ever patient, Obi-Wan simply shrugged his unfettered shoulder and smiled sheepishly,
"I suppose I really am an old man as you two insist. I must find any engineering beyond servicing the fleet fighters on missions so foreign it truly puts me to sleep."
Ashoka's head swam in disbelief as she prodded the first of six internal clips. More like you're being force suggested to sleep! She decided against sharing this rather unnerving deduction and settled on mumbling, "Master you have Crys work on the ships when me and Anakin aren't around."
Obi-Wan gave a warm rich laugh and shifted into a more comfortable position to watch her work, chin propped on his other arm peering down at her poking and praying, still twitching occasionally despite the lack of sensation.
The door slid open with a whoosh of air and Anakin entered looking as stormy as when he left. Obi-Wan tilted his head up and flashed him a smile before looking back down to the sight of his now uncased hand, one finger separated and lying on the table as Ashoka replaced the joints.
Her master bustled into the small cooking space of the main living area and began preparing a cup of caf and a cup of tea. So, not out then.
While her master seemed content to silently stifle them all with his brooding force signature Ashoka was ready to show him exactly why she had forged on in this endeavor despite invoking her master's ire.
"You know master, this is some truly lovely and unique craftsmanship." Ashoka spoke loudly enough he could not pretend not to hear her without looking up. Anakin stilled in the kitchenette, the clinking of his spoon now stilled.
"It's a shame master Kenobi is never awake to admire it. Especially since so much of it was especially handmade." Ashoka went on, smirking to herself as she felt her master's force signature first contort then disappear entirely, hidden the moment it wasn't being purposely projected.
Obi-Wan tilted his head in curiosity, looking up at the brooding man child in a few feet away.
"It's not…it's not all that special, just some alterations on the tried and true designs. Not really Obi-Wan's area of interest is it?" This was probably stated with enough humility to make Obi-Wan suspicious alone but he accepted it with a hum and Ashoka assumed he was probably too tired from a long deployment to probe deeper into the line of questioning.
Anakin's voice in her head came in a hissing rasp,
"We will speak about this later padawan, stop trying to scare Obi-Wan over his prosthetic before he gets rest."
At the same time Obi-Wan's rich level timbre reached her ears from the outside,
"Well whatever alterations you did they work wonderfully so I'm very grateful to you Anakin, I don't-" Obi-Wan's voice was cut off with a yawn before he shook his head to clear it, "Oh excuse me, haven't had a good night's rest in days."
Ashoka answered both at once using full focus to gather all the parts she needed to go weld, answer her master through their training bond, and answer Obi-Wan.
"I hardly think general Kenobi is the one I'm scaring master."
"That's okay master I'll be done soon I just need to go weld these finger pieces back together, we've got the tools lying about somewhere but I don't want to burn the table."
Anakin stepped over and snatched the twisted handkerchief of parts out of her hands. "That's alright snips, I've got a micro torch I'll fix it." He walked into his room only to return with a metal plate and torch and set about the repairs without waiting for anyone in the room to respond.
Obi-Wan shook his head and leaned conspiratorially in towards Ashoka, "To tell you the truth I think he's just possessive of his handiwork. He was like that with the speeders he used to build too. Doesn't like anyone else working on them."
Ashoka put a hand on her hip and nudged a montral behind her back with a shoulder, "Right. His handiwork." Anakin flashed his eyes up at her but continued working in silence.
Sometimes Ashoka remembers her master is still only a petulant twenty year old.

Grim's character arc during Revenge Of The Sith is so compelling to me.
At first she's being strategic and she's calm and you can see how much she's matured since the beginning of the story. She has a plan and isn't going to allow her fear to hold her back any longer. Except she slips up with that plan, and that was the last time she would have that chance. She's now terrified of the ending that she knows will come. Except she refuses to let that fear show. Especially not when her enemy is so close. So she hides it behind jokes. She banters with Obi-Wan and Anakin as she always does. She isn't even afraid to sass Palpatine with a smile.
Grim and Obi-Wan reach the Jedi Temple to make their report to the Jedi Council. Grim has decided to tell them everything about the future. They need to know. They're the only ones who can help her and change the ending now. But when she begins to explain her fear catches her again. She wants to tell them her heart is screaming to tell them but her mind and its fear chokes her. She runs away, unable to say how the ending happens. Just that if things don't change then the Jedi Order and the Republic will fall.
This fear pulls her back from everything. And it's not unnoticed. Obi-Wan and Yoda can see it. They want to help her but she won't let them.
When she's around Anakin her fear becomes anger and she directs it at him for the man he will become in just a few days. She doesn't see Anakin at all. She is speaking to Darth Vader. He is already a Sith Lord to her.
Grim tries to train away this fear and this anger. Tries to ignore it. To escape it. But she can't. There's a voice that whispers to her that she's failed. She has no proof of this, but she believes it.
With that belief she begins to grieve all that will soon be lost. It isn't gone yet. But to her it is, for there is no changing the end. It's already over. And yet the light still reaches to her and a small part of her still has hope. Because Grim does not know who she is without it.
Grim spies on Anakin and Palpatine to know if she really has lost. To learn if the dark voice that whispers to her is right, and she has failed. She watches Anakin become entranced by Palpatine's story and it confirms it for her. She loses all her hope. The dark won. She has lost.
And Grim is so lost, so hurt, so betrayed, so terrified, and so broken by this revelation. She doesn't see the point in even being alive anymore. The story can't be changed. Living or dying it changes nothing. She changes nothing. So she runs to the roof of the Jedi Temple. She plans to jump, but the light holds her back. The fact that there are still Jedi right here and right now keep her there. Instead she watches the sky.
Anakin joins her and the two of them talk about the future to come. Anakin wants to believe things can change. Grim has lost hope and sees him as the man that will destroy them both. She says it's too late for them. And with those words spoken it is.
The next day is the day where she really will have lost everything. Grim has no hope. She can only find it in Obi-Wan. She is convinced she will die because her story is left unknown. She has nothing to prove that she'll live and she has everything to prove she'll die. And now faced with the real possibility of it, Grim realizes she doesn't actually want to die. She begs Obi-Wan to not let her die.
Grim sees Boga and suddenly she's back in the beginning in the war before all of her scars before everything was painful. She's 14 and starstruck by Star Wars again. And she is filled with such joy she forgets about Order 66. She forgets her worries. She forgets all of it.
While fighting Grievous at Obi-Wan's side she loses herself in the battle. Focusing only on it. Her worries and fears aside.
But it's not to last.
"You must realize, army or not, you are doomed," says Grievous.
And Grim knows he's right. Suddenly she's aware of all the clones. She's aware of how close Order 66 has become.
They defeat Grievous and Grim is afraid. She's never been so afraid. Obi-Wan tries to talk to her but she shuts him out. She refuses to let him in. To let him see how ruined she is.
Order 66 begins. Grim is terrified and forces herself to run. She has to survive. Except she gets surrounded and again she believes she'll die. This time she does not face death with fear. She welcomes it. She jumps off the cliff so it will not be her brothers and friends that kill her. And when she hits the water she is ready to accept she will die. She's lost. What does it matter?
Except the light reminds her there are more survivors and there are people who could use her and that there's still hope and a reason to fight and so she fights back and she survives.
Only to wish she didn't. She lost. She failed. Why does she get to live? The grief and the guilt of everything crashes down onto her all at once. Seeing the ruins of the Jedi Temple is too much. It becomes anger again because she knows exactly who is to blame. The man who had slayed them. So she leaves to kill him blinded by this twisting rage.
And again she fails. But she refuses to fail. She refuses to die. She is angry and she is determined. But as she's fighting by Obi-Wan's side again she becomes afraid. She can't win. She can only live. But, she realizes that's enough. So she focuses on surviving the battle, not on killing Anakin. There's nothing more than can be done.
She leaves Anakin to survive Mustafar because there is still that anger in her heart. But she's calming down now. She's accepting the support of the light and turns away from all the darkness that keeps threatening to consume her.
Grim becomes a Jedi Knight. She is filled with grief and feels so much guilt for surviving and getting this honor. But there's another thing too. Grim has hope.
And with that hope she knows she can heal again.

📒!
Put “📓” or some other version of a book emoji into my inbox and I’ll explain the plot of a fanfiction that I haven’t written but daydream about. You remember how that concept art for sw had force-sensitive padme (as a side-effect of being pregnant with the twins) with visions, and also of her showing up to mustafar with a knife?
Yeah, that fucks. But I mean, this would be a padme looking at her two great loves, both of them slipping from her grasp, and chooses… not anakin. Which is very different from my beloved vision of canon padme, which is to say - a good woman, to be sure. But not an angel. (and can we blame her for it? Perhaps from a distance.)
So Padme dies on Mustafar, choking on her husband's love.
Padme wakes in the bed of her marriage, visions of death like ash on her tongue. Her husband sleeps next to her, face soft and open in the moonlight - not for long. Anakin's always been a light sleeper.
She doesn't know what her face looks like, as he wakes. But he's asking Padme, love, what's wrong. Reaches out a hand to comfort her.
She flinches from it. From him.
She regrets it immediately, of course - her Anakin would ever hurt her. Just nightmares, she says, it was just a nightmare. Buries her face in his shoulder before that expression of surprise can be replaced by -- anything else.
She knows he's dangerous, of course, the same way any Jedi is, all power crackling just beneath the skin. But the point of being a Jedi is that they would never use it - not on anyone who didn't deserve it.
The hand cradling her shoulder is warm.
Dreams pass in time. She sends him off to the temple just before the sun rises, watches the plume of his tail lights till she loses him in the rest of Coruscant's morning traffic. Puts on her outfit for the Senate. Puts her head down and works.
She meets with her committee just after noon, the handful of delegates representing thousands sitting about her living room. If she hesitates to go the Jedi - Bail agrees as well. And the odd turning-over she feels in her gut when their committee meets with the Chancellor - well, it's not unusual for a pregnancy. She hides it with her usual grace.
It means nothing. It doesn't mean a thing. She puts her head down, tucks away her fear and her fury, and works.
And then - and then -
Smoke rises in the distance.
Padme runs. She'll never make it like this but - she crashes into Bail in the hallways of the Senatorial apartments, and then both of them are in his Tantive, speeding down the road to the temple.
There are clones. Padme is fast, and desperate, and a damn good shot when she needs to be. She doesn't - can't- look at the bodies in the hallways. She makes it to the inner chambers, ducks silent behind a doorframe, and there -
There's Anakin, 'saber a violent slice of blue in hand. In front of him there are -- children.
One hand clutched to her belly, she runs and falls to the ground between them.
"Anakin," Padme cries, "Anakin, please. Don't do this." She begs him to come with her, leave all this and raise their children, and for a second it seems as if it might work. "Come back to me -- I love you."
But love won't save her, he says.
He whips around, a bolt pinging off his 'saber, and she gets a flash of Bail's pale drawn face around the doorframe. Then she hits the wall with a crack, and she can't breathe -
Padme dies in the Jedi temple, choking on nothing.
Padme wakes in the bed of her marriage, husband sleeping next to her.
--
So basically, I asked myself, how do we go from canon!Padme to concept art!Padme? the tenative answer: brute force application of extreme time loop shenanigans. girl, aren't you tired of going apeshit :) don't you want to go another flavour of apeshit :)

Buddy cop escapades with mace and force ghost Anakin.
Anakin intrupts palpatine and Mace's fight as per cannon but palpatine accidentally kills Anakin as he walks in. Palpatine is furious. Mace manages to escape in the confusion. He manages to get to the undercity but he is severely injured and passes out as soon as he gets to a place of saftey.
He wakes to.....skywalker??? Are you... why are you glowing like that?
You can see me? Interesting. No other jedi has been able to see me and nor have any non force sensitive.
At this mace tries to get up and go to the temple, Anakin has to break the news about order 66. Anakin tried and failed to intervene. He shows mace the beacon left by obi wan (he's been asleep a while I don't know lol) and mace realises there's no more he can do on coruscant and he needs to escape the planet so he can regroup and bring down palpatine.
Time skip, mace is living out of some abandoned jedi temple with only Anakin for company. Anakin is very irritating.
Another time skip, Anakin and mace are unaffiliated with the rebellion (mace doesn't realise any other jedi survived, he feels serious guilt about having led the jedi to order 66 and so doesn't want to endanger the rebellion) but are the empires no1 irritation. They foil so many of the empires plans but nobody knows who they are. (Surely one person can't cause that much damage??? It must be a group.... no its just one very powerful former master of the order and his overpowered force ghost shadow). The empire are confused and frustrated. The rebellion are confused and grateful.
Next we see the above from the view of the rebellion leadership. Enter, the rebellions close ally, president amidala of tattoine (she did not want this role but the people of tattoine begged her to and so she agreed short term whilst they where stabilising) stabilising from what you ask? From the slave uprising. Literally, obi wan and padme have seen Anakins body. Know he is dead at the hands of the emperor and go a bit off... in their grief. We know they are both quite fond of dramatics and obi wan has already lost so much. Now the whole jedi order and the boy he raised??? Maybe things would have gone differently had he spoken to yoda on coruscant but instead he only speaks to padme. They decide to free tattoine in Anakins honour. Yes padme is pregnant. No it doesn't stop her. She keeps out of the fighting and leads, obi wan is more than happy to do the legwork on planet in her place. They are in constant comms contact throughout. Yes they have become incredibly codependent in their grief. Everything they do just orbits around this great lack that is left in Anakins place. They are like power siblings. Everyone they meet assumes that they are bio brother and sister. They are scarily intense and competent.
Anyway, they free tattoine. Padme unwillingly takes over leadership. The hutts go running. The empire don't dare go near them (that's a problem for after they've dealt with the rebellion). They are definitely allies of the rebellion but they don't really care much for the empire and so hear nothing of Mace's (very Anakin like) escapades. They are too busy expanding their new state of free peoples across the outer rim and all the planets they had not been able to help while in the republic (definitely needs stating that obi wan and padme are NOT OK. Like Luke and Leia are being raised well but everything else is off the table. Politics wise they do what they want. Their egos are off the board. They will help any oppressed peoples they feel like and they will do it how they want. Politicians are all terrified of them. The only people who are not are the slaves and all those who where at the bottom of the pecking order who are now being empowered and freed no matter who it inconveniences and how many rich people lose money. Obi wan is definitely not acting as a jedi.
The reason the rebellion are contacting padme is they are warning them that the empire is on its way. Obi wan and padme went a step too far when they added mandalore to their collection of freed planets. The empire want it back. (Don't worry. Padme and obi wan are prepared. They do not shy of violence in defence of their wards and they see all these planets as their wards (at least until they can convince the freed slaves to run their own planets that is (the slaves see no such need. Obi wan and padme are doing a fine job )))
Mace and Anakin hear of a empire attack and travel to mandalore to do their thing (they have no idea about padme and obi wan. They keep out of politics and just work in the shadows of the empire messing things up. They both still think mace is the only jedi. Mace just lives like a hermit in the abandoned temple until the weird radar equipment that he built under Anakins instructions, informs them of troop movement/ship moment in which case they move in that direction ready to wing it Anakin style and ruin some imperials day.)
Mace goes to do their usual, incognito messing up imperial forces enmass before the attack and bumps in to Obi wan who is also trying to sabotage. Its like that spiderman pointing fingers but only Mace can see Anakin. Mace is like a jedi??? Obi wan is like Mace???? Anakin is like Obi wan!!!! Tell him Mace! Tell him I'm here!!!!
Mace is the voice of reason and is like... let's not distracr him mid attack. We'll sit him down after and tell him. Afterall you are dead and he can't see you, it's not like it's great news. I doubt he took your death very well. Anakin is like fair and The 3 of them ruin the imperials day together all the same.
They regroup after and obi wan invites them back to his home planet to catch up. something about Obi wan just seems off so Anakin and mace decide to hold off on the reveal once they know Obi wan is safe. Mace and Anakin are a bit like?? What isn't he saying. He's talking around something. Mace is like so where are you living these days obi wan. Obi wan is like long story.....tattoine. Anakin is immediately like ok weird choice but mystery solved. He's just a bit sun mad! Nothing wrong with obi wan at all just a bit too long spent on tattoine. Mace is like.... look let's just talk to him once we are there (and we can check his home situation is settled and safe and he isn't going to go all self sacrificing in Anakins honour or something)
They get to tattoine. Obi wan and padmes whole, planet conquering, slave Freeing, thing is revealed. Anakin is like heart eyes, they did it for me. They are all crazy violent and Codependent because they love me!!! Mace is like alarm bells ringing. He talks Anakin down and Anakin sees that OK yeah this maybe isn't great. They have gone a little off the deep end. They both agree that padme and obi wan definitely need to know about Anakin but they need to tell them in a way that isn't going to have obi wan turning to some ancient force temple to look for some suspicious ritual to bring Anakin back to them. So they (mace) sit them both down and calmly explain the sich and why Anakin doesn't want them to conquer every planet in the galaxy in his name (Anakin agrees to this eventually, many years with mace as his only company has made him a lot better at seeing the consequences of actions) and that Anakin definitely does not want any risky ancient magics to be used to pull him back in to the land of the living. Whilst he would love for them both to see him again, that avenue can be explored slowly and in reasoned steps, with meditation maybe they can work towards obi wan seeing him? And Actually Anakin thinks he rather suits being dead and does obi wan know that qui gon is pottering around watching over the twins?
After this, Anakin and mace join padme and obi wan living with the twins and they now know, qui gon. Anakin, qui gon and Mace's main role in the family unit ends up being reigning in obi wan and padme. Anakin can't believe he's become the sensible one. Clearly mace is to blame. They take obi wan and padme through their 12 step 'so you've become a autocrat, yes you are well loved and helping people but let's take a step back, yeah' detox plan and help obi wan and padme see that they can't fix the whole galaxy and actually if they let people help themselves, they have actually set up quite a few domino's to keep this train moving. Eventually they manage to convince obi wan and padme to hand over the reigns and help convince the newly freed citizens to take them.
The 7 of them move to Anakin and Mace's abandoned temple. The twins grow up in peace with a rather unconventiomal family consisting of their own jedi master, a uncle, their mum and 2 force ghosts. The empire falls without them. Padme and obi wan showed people what it was to be free and their work carried on without them (a bit less violently for the people who had been in places of power in the old order of things). After the empire falls and the force begins to clear, jedi trickle in to the new home they've built and mace sees that he is far from the last. the force guides more and more jedi home (afterall, home is not a place but a people) bringing them to the heart of the order, a once abandoned temple now filled with light
Mace knows that family is more than a lineage but he does feel one more piece click in to place when he sees his padawans padawan step off their landing platform. Mace's past and present finally coming together, he is able to teach caleb all that he has learnt of attachment since they last met (for this new age of jedi have seen all the good attachment to others can bring and also all the bad, mace would not have survived without Anakins companionship all these years but they have seen what Obi wan and padmes love for Anakin wrought and it could have done so much worse) in the old world no jedi would admit that any sentient deserved what padme and obi wan delivered. In this world, mace admits that he is glad they found a target who's downfall helped so many others. The order has had its eyes opened to the shades of grey that fall between good and bad and they know that there is no drop that one may not climb back from. This is a more forgiving order and it is also one that can be harder to live in. There is more work to be done on oneself and less of a steel dogma to hide behind. They ask their members to take on the responsibility of choosing what is best and admitting when they should have chosen differently. Repentance is no easy hill to climb and yet it is one that is open to all.
It is different. It is so different. They have lost so much but also they have gained something that they probably would have never found has things stayed the same. Mace grieves, but also, as he looks down on what they have built from the rubble, he is filled with a feeling of contentment so great he can barely hold it.

Commander Kiri x Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: heyyy finally got round to writing a Kiri (OC) x Reader yay! I know I've had alot of requests about it so here it is. It still follows the Fallen Premonitions storyline, but reader doesn't end up with Rex, still has her visions of the future and stuff, also they sorta have a thing for each other ahaha, enjoy! x
📷: @pinkiemme (love it so much)
Word Count: 3.4k
"GENERAL!"
The voice of your Commander echoed through the forest as he rushed after you, avoiding the branches that you force threw at him. Your legs ached with pain as you pushed yourself to run faster, not wanting him to catch up with you.
You were on a relief mission, having finished giving the people what they needed, yourself and your two man squadron decided to explore the planet for a while. Neither of you had ever been here before and the shuttle that was supposed to pick you up had been delayed, so there was no point in rushing. You decided that you might as well explore the place with the boys, seeing as they never have a chance to. Which is how you ended up rushing through a forest, having stolen one of your Commanders treats you paced your way through the forest.
Before you knew it, you ran straight into the chest of Hopper, who stood still, glaring at you, all while you gave him a cheeky smile. "Hops, you good?"
"General, what are you doing?" Hopper asked, a hint of sarcasm laced in his tone. You hid the treat behind your back, keeping it out of sight from Hopper and supposedly Kiri.
You rolled your eyes, letting out a small chuckle as you swerved around Hopper, hiding behind him, your head peaking out from the side as you kept an eye out for your commander.
"Nothing!" You innocently smiled, eyes flittering around. Hopper shook his head in annoyance but continued to let you stand behind him, holding onto his arms as protection.
All of a sudden a tap on your shoulder had you flipping around, eyes wide and mouth open as Kiri smiled back at you. "Gotcha..."
"That's not fair, you cheated!" You moaned as you slumped against Hopper who had turned around, watching his General and Commander interact with a curious glint in his eye.
"You're the one who threw branches at me and stole my treat!" Kiri accused as he sent a soft glare your way.
"Wel-" Your words were cut off as you felt a strange presence, no a dark presence embrace your body. You clutched your head in pain as you stumbled, losing your footing. Your head screamed in pain as you felt the darkness embrace your body, you legs weakening as you fell limp. The troopers acted quickly, grabbing you before you could fall to the ground and hurt yourself further.
"General? Are you okay?" Kiri asked, eyes full of concern as he held you in his arms. Hopper checked your pulse only to find a faint beat as he shook you gently trying to wake you up.
"She's not responsive!" Hopper panicked, eyes wide as he looked at Kiri. The Commander picked you up, one hand around your legs and the other around your back as he carried you across to the village. Hopper scurried ahead, looking for the villagers who they had just spoken with, only to find the village completely empty.
"Kiri, there's no-one there! They've all disappeared!"
Kiri furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, eyes flickering around, looking for a safe place to put you. He looked down at you in his arms, your face pale and unconscious as made a split second decision. "Hopper, check that hut over there for supplies, we'll have to make camp here. But be on the lookout, I don't know what's happened but I'll try to contact General Kenobi."
Hopper nodded in understanding, his face stern as he knew your life was on the line.
***
It had been at least an hour since the three of you had made camp. Hopper had found a bundle of material, wrapping you up warm while you shivered unconsciously. You kept mumbling some words, neither Kiri nor Hopper knew what was going on. They had tried to contact General Kenobi but to their disadvantage they couldn't, the signal had been ripped from the village, almost as if this all débâcle was planned.
The boys took it in turns to stay by the fire at your side while the other kept guard by the entrance of the hut they were staying in. Hopper was currently on door duty while Kiri sat besides you, fiddling with his comms, trying to get a signal or something to someone.
"D-dooku...Kiri....H-hops... careful..."
Kiri instantly dropped his comm, his hands coming to hold you down as you shuffled and fought in your sleep. Kiri eventually calmed your down, his body twisting to face you as he gently cupped your cheek, eyes soft as he watched you mumble words. His name to be specific. The very one you had given him, the one he was oh-so proud of.
"Kiri..."
Kiri let out a deep sigh, his eyebrows furrowing as he took a quick glance at Hopper who was focuced on the outdoors before he turned back and spoke to you.
"Cyar'ika, c'mon Y/N, I can't have you dying on me, not when we've just begun. We haven't even had time for a proper mission, or even spend time together." Kiri whispered those few words, hoping Hopper didn't hear him. He leaned down and placed a small kiss on your forehead, leaning down to place his own on yours as he whispered.
"Come back to us. Come back to me."
***
"Kiri! There's some Civ's rolling in!"
Kiri quickly got up, but not before squeezing your hand in comfort, he could have sworn he felt you squeeze back but it could have just been wishful thinking, or he was thinking with his heart.
"They don't look like regular civilians..." Kiri noted as he stood besides Hopper who pulled out his scopes, trying to figure out who the people were.
"That's because they're not! They're clankers! Kriff! Kiri we have to get out of here!"
"We can't!" Kiri instantly turned his head towards your unconscious body in the hut. "She's too weak, we can't move her!"
"Well we have to, otherwise we'll be crushed into pieces and none of us will ever make it out alive!" Hopper retorted, he'd been in a situation like this before with you. But you had been conscious, you had been his saviour, his beacon of hope, but now you were the one who needed the help. That was on of the worst days of his life, but when he saw your face alongside General Plo, he knew it would be alright. You'd taken him into your battalion, practically begged General Plo until he caved and you had been glued to each other since. Hopper wasn't too happy with the way you handled the 265th but you were- no are a good General. He wasn't going to give up on you yet.
"Kiri, you defend! I'll get the General!" Hopper ordered. Kiri panicked, not wanting Hopper to take you, he wanted to be the one, not that he didn't trust Hopper because he did. He just didn't trust himself, would he be able to concentrate when your life was on the line?
No.
He would have to. For his brothers. For you.
Kiri nodded in confirmation as he took out his twin blasters, ready to defend. He started shooting the clankers that came anywhere near the hut, giving Hopper the chance to pick you up and run. Kiri followed suit, but so did the droids, gaining on them as they made their way through the forest, Hopper going as fast as he could, with you slung over his shoulder one hand clutching your back as he shot with the other. Kiri blasting the droids left and right, each one falling down just as quick, but the other behind gaining speed as they soon started to overwhelm the two soldiers.
"Hopper, I can't- I need your help! There are too many of them!" Kiri yelled over the noise of blasters being shot, he narrowly missed a blaster blot being shot into his arm as swooped to te left. Hopper glanced over to Kiri, having taken refuge behind a tree, his back facing Hopper all hope lost from his face, as he breathed heavily. The droids were gaining on them as he took a quick glance. Hopper hid behind a tree, gently placing you on the ground as he placed a small kiss on your forehead whispering a small prayer in mando'a before rushing over to help Kiri.
"What's the plan General?" Hopper asked immediately as he rushed over to Kiri, back to back as they shot the driods that were coming in left and right.
"We need to take out those destroyers!" Kiri stated as he signalled to his right, the two destroyers that were gaining on them. Hopper nodded in confirmation, as he pulled out a grenade, already throwing it in the direction of the destroyers, disabling their shields allowing Kiri to shoot at them, instantly destroying them. But it wasn't enough, they still had droids coming in left and right.
Out of nowhere a force of something threw all the droids back, instantly crushing them to the ground, only leaving the destroyers up, with their shields down, giving the boys a split second to glance back and see you stood there, hands out, a small smile on your face.
"Go..." You whispered, just loud enough for the boys to hear before you gripped onto the tree for support as the troopers quickly looked at each other, eyes filled with fear, not sure whether to go to you or the destroyers. But alas their prayers were answered when several Republic gunships flew in. Generals' Kenobi and Skywalker flying into battle alongside some of thier troopers, giving Kiri and Hopper the chance to rush over to you.
They were too late, Dooku had you in his grip, ready to fly off with you before Kiri blasted his bolts at him, eyes furious as he saw your limp body be dragged away. "Y/N!"
Kiri rushed over to Dooku, blasters held high but never stood a chance against Dooku before he was swept aside like a doll. Dooku regarded this gesture carefully as he watched the young soldier call out your name, leaving his own defenses open. Anakin jumped in at the right time, lightsaber at the ready while he forced pulled your body from Dooku's grip and into his arms. Dooku having already seen your Commander to his left had signalled them to take him instead.
"Kiri! No!" You yelled weakly, tugging on Anakins arms, trying, pleading with him to save Kiri.
"We can't Y/N!" Anakin apologised softly as he watched Dooku fly away, your Commander trapped with the Separatists, all while you stood helpless. You spotted Kiri's helmet, picking it up as you clutched it to your chest, not wanting to let your feelings out in front of Anakin. You caressed the helmet, thumb rubbing over the four arrows marked on it, they represented each of your little squadron, yourself, Hopper, Jester and Luka.
"We'll get you back Kiri. I promise."
***
Coruscant - Council Chambers
"Master Windu, I sugge-"
"No. I'm sorry Y/N, but the council have decided that this mission is far too risky. We can only put our faith in Commander Kiri's hands and hope that he returns to us." Master Windu spoke sternly, eyes fixated on you.
"Bu- I can't let him die! He's my Commander!" You retorted, eyes furrowed in anger.
"We can always get you another one Y/N."
The look of disbelief that crossed your face was more than enough for you to burst out your thoughts. "Then we are no better than the Separatists! Leaving a man behind because he's a clone, because, what, he is replaceable? So are the Jedi, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't at least try and go after them! That is not what the Jedi stand for and not what I signed up for!"
"Y/N! Control yourself." Master Kenobi spoke, eyes sending a warning look at you, instantly telling you to mind your tongue. Obi-Wan's disapproval only angered you further, you wouldn't leave Kiri by himself, not when he sacrificed himself to save you. Why they had taken him was beyond you, but you promised you would get him back.
And you would. Whatever it took. Whether you had the blessing from the council or not.
You bowed in respect. "My apologies Master. I spoke out of turn.. I am just worried about my Commander. He is one of the finest, most loyal person I have ever worked with, and I do consider Kiri a dear friend."
Master Windu nodded in acknowledgement, your apology accepted. "I understand young one, but this matter is out of your hands, as well as the councils."
You nodded in confirmation, ready to leave the council room before Master Yoda called for you. "Yes Master Yoda?"
"Speak to you I wish, in private." Master Yoda asked as he signalled for the other members to leave the room, Obi-Wan placing a hand on your shoulder in comfort before he followed the others out the room.
"What is it Master Yoda?"
"Y/N, sensed a great disturbance in the force I do. Careful you must be when rescuing your Commander."
Your mouth fell open out of shock. "Master Yoda! I-i er, it has been forbidden by the Council, I cannot go!"
"Matter it does not. Ever Clone matters to us, do they not?" You nodded. "Then you will go. Skywalker will go with you, careful you must be Y/N. Dooku looks for you."
"Yes Master Yoda." You knew not to question Master Yoda, especially when he had just given you permission to get Kiri back.
***
"Tell me... Commander... why is she so special? Why do you resist telling me about her?"
The low tones of Asajj Ventress' voice echoed through the tunnels of Dooku's fortress. Her longer fingernails traced the Commanders face, running from the tip of his eyebrow, down his cheek to his lip, before she squeezed his chin in her hands, forcing him to look at her.
Kiri was pinned against the wall on a durasteel contraption, hand held above his head and his leg split apart as they were held down by the same material. His helmet was long gone, probably still stuck on that godforsaken planet, he'd have to get a new one when he got back. If he ever got back. All Kiri could think about was if you were safe, if you made it out alive. He prayed that you did, that whatever he tried to do kept you safe, kept you alive. Your life was worth a million of his, and he was glad that it was him here, instead of you.
"I'll never give you what you want!" Kiri rumbled out, taking deep breaths as she squeezed his windpipe with her bare hands, not using the force.
Ventress growled in anger as he slapped his face, Kiri's head slapping the hard metal as he grunted in slight pain.
"Fine. I guess we'll have to do things the old fashioned way." Ventress taunted as she pulled out a flaring hot viroblade, waving it in the air as she approached Kiri. The blade taunting his skin, as she pressed it slowly, into his upper lip, carving it into his skin. Kiri screamed out, the pain that he was experiencing was excruciating, but it was nothing compared to how he felt when he almost lost you.
Kiri prayed to the maker above, for someone to help him, to hear his pleas, but it was useless. Ventress pulled the viroblade from his face, cleaning the blood off it before hovering over his face again. "It would be a shame to mess this pretty little face up, wouldn't it?"
"Then again, there are several of you clones. Who cares if there's one that's a little bit damaged, or even one less?"
"I do."
Kiri's eyes widened in shock as he saw you approch, your robes swaying behind you as Anakin and Ahsoka followed behind, your twin lightsabers out, a fierce grown painted on your face. Kiri could have sworn he was in heaven, an angel had come to save him, one that had taken the form of you, he would die happily, his last thoughts and visions of you. His eyes started to droop slowly to sleep, as the last thing he remembered was the soft tones of your voice calling his name out.
***
Medical Bay
"Look who's finally awake!"
Luka grinned happily as he hugged his brother, trying his best not to further injure him. Jester copied Luka, giving Kiri a large hug, causing him to slightly wince in pain. Hopper stood on his left as he placed a hand on his shoulder, sending a small smile his way, happy to see his brother alive and well.
"Good to see you back with us Commander."
"Glad to see you too boys." Kiri laughed, although his tone was a little off as Hopper noticed Kiri looking around anxiously.
"She's at a debriefing. Broke a lot of Jedi rules to come get you."
"I-i didn't sa-"
"You didn't have to vod. We already know." Luka smiled, patting Kiri on the arm.
"Already know what?" Your angelic tone echoed through Kiri's room as you entered, a large grin plastered across your face as you saw Kiri wide awake. Kiri's eyes widened in surprise as he wondered if you had overheard their conversation.
The boys quickly looked at each other, before Hopper spoke up, covering up what Kiri had practically confessed to them. "That Ventress got away again."
You rolled your eyes at his statement, taking a seat at the end of Kiri's bed. "She's a coward. She'll always run."
Your boys nodded in agreement, happy to accept whatever it was that you said, moving away from Kiri's confession. "Anyways, I brought some sweets! I bought them from a vendor in Central Coruscant, the twi'lek said they were the sweetest, so I hope they are."
You handed out a packet to each of the boys who looked at them in glee, Jester already stuffing his face with them while Hopper looked sceptical at the sight of them.
"Oh, Hops, they're not gonna harm you! It's just a sweet! Look I'll eat one!" You popped one in your mouth, chewing on the sweet delicacy as you hummed in pleasure. "Here look, Kiri have one!" You took one out, hand coming up to place one in Kiri's mouth when your eyes stopped on the scar that had formed across his upper lip.
It was a deep nasty cut that left a horrible scar, one that you were partially responsible for. "Sorry..." You mumbled, eyes downcast. Hopper could feel the tension a mile away, luckily though before he could intervene, Captain Rex knocked on the door asking for your troopers to report to General Kenobi for their next assignment. The boys said thier goodbyes before leaving you and Kiri alone in the room.
"I am so sorry Kiri! I wish you didn't have to go through all of that, I wish I- we could have done something sooner." Your guilty eyes falling on the scar, and the brusies that scorned his beautiful face.
"Hey, at least we both made it out alive. You saved me, remember? You came back for me."
"I know. But I could have been too late. What would Ventress have done to you if we hadn't arrived on time? If I hadn't gone against the councils wishes? I-i don't know what I would have done." You sighed, feeling the emotions you bottled creep up on you slowly.
"I wish I could take all the pain away for you." You lift a hand, tracing a finger over the scar as Kiri winces slightly, eyes closing in content at your soft fingers tracing his skin.
"You already have."
You look up to Kiri in confusion, eyes caught with his as you leaned in, Kiri simultaneously leaning in too. Your hand moving to trace his cheek as he brought his hand to cup your face his his large hands, bringing your closer as your lips finally met. Eyes closing in content as you felt Kiri's soft lips pressed against yours, the scar brusing your top lip as he pulled away, forehead pressed against you as he smiled happily.
"I would do it all again if it meant keeping you safe."

@distant-wcrlds sent: How many pillows, biggest fears, and does she like to prank people for Padme?
dusty and long lost meme
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay so for pillows, here's my take on it. P doesn't actually need much in the way of a pillow to be comfortable...or at least, she didn't used to. Her preference pre-marriage is clearly minimal pillows, even just a firm bolster pillow, doesn't matter where she is as this is both her bedroom at her family home on Naboo, and her apartment on Coruscant. But then she's married to Anakin, and suddenly not only is there more pillows on the bed, but it's not just for show on a made bed, there's equal pillow distribution on both sides of the bed when they're sleeping. So my theory is that once she became accustomed to sharing a bed, not only did she learn to share Anakin's preference for lots of soft pillows, but she keeps them on the bed even when he's not there to feel surrounded. So there's always at least six pillows on the bed if not more, three bare minimum being used post marriage.
As for her biggest fears- not making a lasting positive difference on a large scale, and losing Anakin. Obviously, Padmé likes assisting on the small scale, having started her um...beingtarian (look this is a convo I had last year, you can't really call her a humanitarian she doesn't just focus on the human species sooooo catch me making up words, whatever) career with a hands mission trip for refugee aid. Her career as a queen wasn't enough political impact, she put off her desired goal of romance and a family for time as a senator, continuing to serve under two queens, and during a war when she didn't have to. She saw the way the chancellorship was becoming a dictatorship and joined with others in starting the Rebellion because that is not the galaxy she wanted everyone to live in, not just herself. Her other biggest fear is losing Anakin- his serving as a General puts him in great danger, he is constantly being given the high risk missions, he's pushed to do things entirely against his nature and try to remove himself from it. It's a lot to deal with, even as an excessively powerful Jedi, because he's firstly Anakin to her. She still sees him as human, able to be pushed too far, to be injured, killed. She couldn't say that losing the baby/s in childbirth would be her biggest fear because it just plain isn't the norm on Naboo or Coruscant. So her only worst fear related to her child is letting the Republic fall to pieces, or Anakin not being in their life.
Pranking with her is very rare. It has to be someone that actually appreciates pranks and wouldn't be offended by it. Also once you have spent literal years pulling off constant decoy usage and slipping in and out of your handmaids, there isn't much novelty in doing that. She also doesn't like being pranked, so it's hard to pull that on people when you yourself don't like it to happen to you. There are a few people that wouldn't get true annoyance from it, the main two being Sabé and Anakin.

What if we rewrite the stars 17
Tumblr media
Iris in meditation remembers the councils request.
(Flash back)
Windu sat in his chair judging me. "Iris we are willing to turn a blind eye to this. We need you to watch Anakin. We feel a darkness in him. " he said making me spit at his feet. "A darkness grows in me too Windu. You took something from me and you will pay for it in time. You are all blind you know. I know who the sith lord is. You all do too and yet here we are going after one of are own. This is messed up and backwards but fine I'll do it." I said crossing my arms. "Iris against this you are. Understand I do but with a clear mind one sees everything. You have to let your anger go. Anakin is not our friend anymore." For the first time I wanted to force choke all of the people in this room. "Iris this is for the good of the republic. I don't like it either but it is a necessary risk. Please be careful and may the force be with you." Obi-Wan's  Hologramme spoke gently. "May the force be will all of us." I said leaving the council room a bitter taste in my mouth. I was about to betray my best friend.
   (End flash back)
I was pulled out of medication by a knock at my door. "Come in." I said and the person I didn't want to face entered. "Iris you seem off is everything ok? Well besides the baby. I know that is eating you up. Its hurting Rex too you both hid it well." He said sitting across from me. "Ani I can't betray you." I said fearing the worst. "What do you mean Iris?" His eyes narrow. "The council they are having me spy on you. I can't do it your my best friend, my brother in arms. I can't do that to you." He stood up and I follow suit. "They asked you to spy on me what for?" He growled "They sense a darkness in you Ani and to be frank I do too. I also know there is a darkness in everyone. " He laughed shaking his head. He left me with an uneasy feeling. I will regret telling him this I know it.
Anakin pov
How can they make her do this. Its bad enough she just lost her baby. Now they want her to possibly lose me. Well she told me so I guess she is not all at fault. I make it on the bridge and set a call up with the council. They will not get away with miss leading.
