The funniest thing about criminal minds never fails to be the fact that Reid is literally NEVER following protocol in the field. He’s got his gun down when they’re sneaking round the back of the house, he doesn’t have a flashlight on him when they’re going after the unsub after sunset, HE NEVER WEARS HIS GODDAMN VEST, he doesn’t check around corners correctly (if he does at all), he carries a REVOLVER which is NOT a good service weapon bffr Mr. PhDs, he randomly fuckin goes off on his own to talk down the unsub bc he relates to them (😭literally whaaat), sometimes he just straight up doesn’t wait for backup WHEN THEY SHOULD REALLY WAIT FOR BACK UP SPENCER!!!!!!???!!! Ngl, I’m not entirely sure where the “Miguel and Hobie hate each other” reading comes from, when from their like. One interaction i don’t personally get the impression they think much about each other at all shdhdjfjf

Miguel seems kind of exasperated with Hobie sure, but the tone of that interaction is relatively lighthearted. It’s more of a joke that by virtue of Miguel being a stringent rule follower, Hobie not caring overly much about those rules exasperates him. And Hobie knows it annoys Miguel and thinks that’s funny, thus prodding him again with the “I’m not even here/nah still here” routine. But there doesn’t seem to be like, genuine personal anger on either side. Just an ideological divide that actualises even further when Miles’ very existence provides another answer to the overhanging stakes.

#I have like. a different post I’m writing talking abt how I think miles actually gives hobie hope and that’s an interesting way to read #their little dynamic #but for the purpose of this post - I get the impression hobie and miguel clash ideologically more so than any personal feelings for one #another on both sides. miguel is vaguely exasperated by a guy who flouts rules but he’s not pissed at him or anything #whereas hobie seems to take specific issue w the idea of having to do things a certain strict way #and this is what he cautions miles about leading up to the intro w miguel #hobie is all about asking WHY you should be a part of certain structures and systems #but I think his beef w miguel and spider society is more on the level of going I don’t like the idea of bowing down to fear of a cosmic #force and not saving people because of that and I’m preparing to dip from that structure once I’ve made a watch for Gwen so if she wants out #she can still choose to help people. #it’s more concern and critique about the harm Miguel + the society stands to perpetuate out of fear by adhering so strongly to this framewor #framework* of canon (this hobie going 😬 at the go home machine) and how that harm stands to land directly on someone like miles by virtue of #the way the system operates. and it operates that way BECAUSE of fear of canon backlash #and of course someone like hobie is going to go fuck that I don’t want to be holding off on saving people and stringently pursuing canon #conformity because I’m scared #wow I’m just detailing the other post I’m making shdhdjfjfj #but yeah the tail end of THAT stream of thought for me is that I think while hobie was disillusioned and critical of this system its #actually miles that gives him hope of being able to change it when he saves the police officer #idk. a lot of extrapolation but I like to think on why hobie agreed to join and why he stays and how he interacts w the society despite #being deeply critical of it #it’s interesting #tunes talks spiderverse

because honestly part of his charm is that he's extremely maidenless... well not maidenless he Is pulling hot babes left and right but friends?? ooh boy,,,

i wouldn't want to take away the fab five from him, despite how poorly they treat him at times. However, i do think it would've been really cool to see him with the new teen titans! i completely understand why he wasn't with them at that point, like i get it. but just from a character relations perspective, i do think this would've been a natural next step if he wasn't so self-deprecating (and busy in atlantis). dick and donna were consistently the nicest to him out of the fab five so he gets to keep some of that previous dynamic. wally is also there but,, roy isn't!!! no offense to roy i like him on his own but he was a big reason why garth left in the first place so. yknow.

but anyway, garth does have good relationships with kori, garfield, and victor. and i guess raven too but we don't really see that,, like ever. he's obviously not close to them, but they're not mean to him. which is a big thing for garth! kori seems to hold him in high regard too, at least after he becomes tempest, so it would've been nice to see their relationship actually progress to the point where she trusts him like that. like in the titans (1999) issue 19 where she says she trusts him with her life. like. what the fuck!! there are also multiple issues where garth and garfield have a little friendship going on (that one panel where garfield yells at arthur gives me so much life adghlj). and there are a few cute moments between garth and victor.

i really don't think he'd become like,, besties or family with any of them, but if i really had to give him More friends, i think they would've been the safest bet.

Godd I know I've said it before but I'm so feral about Athelstan and Lagertha. I need to read about them so so much it's making me insane. Athelstan and Lagertha bonding over traded cooking tips. Lagertha takes pity on him struggling with their language and has a sixth sense for knowing what he's trying to say. Training together. Athelstan backs her in a battle and much to her surprise does a very good job at it. Athelstan finding a way to visit her when she lives with her second husband. Lagertha defending Athelstan when he gets pushed around/insulted by other Vikings. Lagertha makes him soup when he gets sick. They share and compare stories from their respective religions and while Lagertha is suspicious she's more than civil about it. Athelstan quietly and steadily supporting her after the plague, through Ragnar's infidelity, the divorce, everything. He's always there as her persistent, quiet but comforting shadow. She can read him like a book and understands even the things he desperately wants to conceal. I'm so unhealthy.

So I was stuck in traffic today and I decided to give my cuz’n a call ….

#her 2yr old son answered the phone - exasperated #he just kept saying ‘where are you?’ #and my cuz took the phone and said ‘your ears must have been on fire’ #and im just asking is everything ok? whats going on? and thats when she tells me #a story that got me so choked up i had to pull over: #so it turns out she was out grocery shopping with her son and he insisted on carrying her reusable grocery bag #but he is only 2 and the bag is almost bigger than him and its completely full #but he insists - so my cuz sits the bag down and lets him try thinking he will give up when he sees its too heavy #and he was trying and trying but the bag hardly moved and when his mom offered to take some items out he got upset #saying he could do it. so hes on the verge of a meltdown bc the bag isnt really moving that much #and she said he just sat there next to the bag and she is watching his little mind trying to problem solve it #and all of a sudden he goes - ‘uncle odin help me!’ #and my cuzn tells him im not there but he just gets louder and louder calling for me to come and help him 😢 #and out of desperation she gave him her phone to pacify him - and right at that moment was when i happened to call #and as im pulled over on the side of the road and she is telling me all this i can hear him asking where am i and how long until im there #and there i was stuck on the i-4 interchange about an hour away wishing i had a flying car or sum #but i was able to calm him down and told him to let his mom carry it *this* time #and next time i would try to be there to help him #i felt so honored that *eye* was the 1st thought he had for help #i dont see them that often - maybe once every other week or so? #anyway ….. dont let anyone tell u that men dont have biological clocks too #bc its been a long time since i felt such an intense urge to be a baby daddy #gotta hurry up and find mrs right now tho - im 2 yrs away from 40 #if i wait too much longer ​any games of catch gon be played in a nursing home - lol
