► BIOGRAPHY
TW; Religion mention, funeral mention
It was raining when Adrienne was born. Maybe that was the first tell of the path she would be walking. Or, maybe it was the intention of her given name; Adrienne: dark woman or dark waters. There was some odd fascination with the darker things in life. Growing up attending more funerals than weddings, can anyone really blame her on that impact? Though, her nickname was Jynx due to the chaos that would spiral in her presence. For instance, her grandmother's ashes going missing when they were addressed to her apartment, or traveling all the way to California just for a once in a lifetime storm to be passing through and the festival being cancelled, or every color she calls for Roulette being the wrong one and her friend then going into the negatives with funds. Though she was labeled as an outcast and was seen as the black sheep in the family because of this, she still had something about her that drew people in. She had a great group of friends, and her fair share of experimental relationships. In short: she didn't miss anything, but she wouldn't have cared if she did. Her aunt was the one who taught her about spirituality after Adrienne had a paranormal experience at the age of 5. Whilst being in a Catholic household, Adrienne and her aunt would often sneak in order to practice their own eclectic belief. Magic, tarot cards, seances, you name it - Adrienne has dabbled in it. What no one was expecting was for her to make a career move out of it. It started in high school, she helped assist her teacher in their paranormal investigation group. It was through this teacher that she learned about anomalies and the role of the paranormal in anthropology. Her job as an investigator was just the groundwork for her BA in Parapsychology with a minor in Religious Studies at Stockton Univeristy, where she studied the connections of the paranormal and demons with the human psyche. She then went on to gain her MA in Magick and Occult Science with a specialization in Women and Minority Studies where she learned more about the occult across various religions and cultures as well as witchcraft and the impact and power women have within interaction, at Salem State University. At this point in her career, she can be seen as an expert in the occult as well as a demonologist. She actually works alongside various religious institutions, is still a researcher for a paranormal investigation team, and is also hosts a podcast about horror movies, the paranormal and the occult.
► PERSONALITY (DEEP DIVE)
Adrienne is one of those people who can attract and attract and attract, but still feel alone underneath the surface. She can be sarcastic and condescending if someone asks a question she deems as 'stupid'. She's known to bully as her type of flirting. She's actually not online, and prefers it that way. She's clever and witty and goes on passion-dump sprees about her line of work and conspiracies pretty often, or about her research or podcast. She loves people who have a sense of humor and can dish it back out to her. Adrienne used to not like being seen as a Jynx, but now she is sorta indifferent. She just knows something bad or weird is bound to happen when she's around, and it's just within her chaotic state of being. She used to be deathly afraid of the dark, mostly because she didn't know what was in it. It's still a fear, but she works through it due to her career. Adrienne comes across as intimidating and mean cause of her resting bitch face. This is partly true; seeing that she does bring hell to people and her wrath can be intense. But, if you're on her good side you have a very loyal and fun friend in your corner.

@voxdaemonica : hekate + arabella
Despite some people’s insistence that she be otherwise, Hekate chose to remain firmly ambivalent to the problems plaguing the court of her birth. Whatever their High Lady was up to, it had no bearing on her. So long as The Garden was left well alone, the fae of Summer could do whatever they liked. Let them destroy themselves from the inside for all she cared. It would help her sleep easier at night knowing her father and his family were wiped off the face of the earth by the machinations of the High Lady they so lovingly served.
But no matter how hard she lied to herself, there would always be a part of Hekate deep down that felt something like concern for the Summer Court. She was a nymph of The Garden through and through, but the waters of Summer still flowed inside her. They fueled her anger at the outside world, and gave life to the warrior spirit in her that had driven her to become a Thorn in the first place. Summer would always be a part of her whether she wanted it to be or not. And so despite her protests, she could never quench her own curiosity at the goings-on of that island court. What was the High Lady up to now? Who would suffer for her machinations? Would the people of Summer still follow her even if she lead them into blood and tears?
But it was merely curiosity—that’s what she told herself repeatedly, even as she eyed the sole heir to the throne of Summer across the room from her. Curiosity and a desire to protect her real family, the nymphs who’d raised her and loved her. That was why she was staring at Arabella Li Liu like a hawk eyeing a rabbit in the grass. Curiosity. Not concern.
The light click of her heels was lost under the music and babble around them as she approached the princess, inhaling slowly as she walked to ensure that she presented a perfectly calm and polite façade. There could be no trace of her own feelings on her face or in her body language. She must be neutral and civil, charming, warm. She must not be distracted by the fact that Arabella was unwittingly an embodiment of everything Hekate had come to resent about the Summer Court. “Your Highness,” she began with an elegant curtsey. “On behalf of The Garden, I’d like to thank you for coming tonight. Your support means a great deal to my dear sister Sophia, and to all of us.”

EVENT #1: A Rose by Any Other Name
HEKATE NIGHTINGALE attending the wedding of High Lord Gabriel Beaumont and the nymph Sophia Wren
The entirety of The Garden is turning out to watch their beloved sister Sophia wed the imposing High Lord of the Night Court, signaling the true beginning of their alliance. Naturally, Hekate is attending as well. She wouldn’t miss Sophia’s wedding for the world, not after having watched the ethereal young woman grow up into one of the most coveted nymphs in the world. She just wishes this day had come under better circumstances. Hekate has never kept her disdain for outside fae a secret, and everyone knows that the Night Court is a cold, dark place far from the elegant beauty and warmth of their home. Sending Sophia into the jaws of hellhounds rankles the Thorn deeply, but she trusts the Queen of Roses more than anyone else, so if Rosaline believes Sophia will be safe, then Hekate must believe so, too. Tonight, she is bedecked in pale blue, flowers garlanding her entire body, woven into her dress, her hair, at her ears, and around her wrists and ankles. Her wings are glamoured out of sight, so that her status as a nymph will not be too easily recognizable. More than anything, she wishes to keep her eyes and ears peeled for any whispers of trouble with the impending alliances. If the Night Court, or any of the rest, have ill intentions for The Garden, Hekate wants to be the first to know. And the thin daggers strapped to her thighs are practically inviting trouble.

@wickedgxmes : hekate + aida
Just about what she’d expected of high fae. All the glitz and glamor the Night Court could provide, and about as comforting and inviting as the mountains in which they resided. On the outside, this reception could pass for a festive celebration. But something distinctly cold and somber hung over the proceedings, something that set Hekate’s spine tingling with goosebumps and irritation. They could have done more, in her very strong opinion, to celebrate the heritage of their new nymph queen. More flowers, even more than were already on display, more music, more dancing. There could always have been more.
Truthfully, no matter how much time and energy the Night Court had thrown into the celebrations, Hekate would never have been satisfied. This whole arrangement dissatisfied her, and were it not for the deep abiding love and trust she placed in Rosaline, she would have been loudest among the throng of dissenting voices. Throwing a pure and beloved nymph to these... she couldn’t think of a strong enough word to describe them. The only way she could see them being more cold and uninviting would be if they’d been the Winter Court. It was appalling. And in the hands of anyone but her Queen, Hekate firmly believed that this alliance would have been doomed from its conception.
As it was, she trusted Rosaline more than anyone else in the world. So she held firmly to that trust like a life raft, praying by the second that this would all be worth it. That Sophia would be safe. That The Garden would be safe. Still, that faith did nothing to temper her sour mood. She needed to find a familiar face to vent to, anything to get away from these high-and-mighty High Fae and their peacocking. After a minute of wandering, such a face came into view. “Aida, dearest, how are you holding up?” Hekate’s eyes traversed her fellow Thorn, looking for signs of distress or upset. Dealing with other’s problems was always easier than dealing with her own. “I wish I’d brought a jacket. You’d think they’d never heard of heating up here.”

SUMMARY
Hekate’s life is largely defined by her family history and the first ten years of her life. Her mother was a coveted nymph of The Garden who took a Summer Court general as her mate. Their marriage began in bliss and devotion, but pressures from his family to start producing heirs eventually began to strain their relationship. Things eased slightly when her mother gave birth to her elder brother Nereus, but the rift between the nymph and her husband grew wider and wider with each passing day. By the time Hekate was born, there was no longer any love between the general and his prized wife—she was merely a jewel in his family’s crown, good for breeding worthy heirs and nothing else. This treatment extended to Hekate as well, since she was very clearly more Nymph than Summer Court and would therefore never make a proper warrior in his eyes. After years of abuse and neglect, Hekate’s mother dared to escape back to The Garden with her daughter, but her broken heart took her life soon after their arrival. Hekate was raised in The Garden from then on, and developed a firm belief that outsiders (basically any non-nymphs) were not to be trusted at all. She trained diligently, learning the arts of her sisters and even some combat, all to better serve her beloved Queen as a Thorn and protect their paradise from the outside world. Hekate firmly believes that all non-nymphs are greedy, selfish, and inherently manipulative, and she will stop at nothing to protect her sisters from their conniving ways. She puts up with The Wild Hunt because she trusts her Queen, but even they have not fully earned her trust. After seeing how her father treated her mother and herself, trust is not something she extends to outsiders.

@rzeqvrtz : hekate + raymond
So. The human Resistance had made a play at last. For months, Hekate had heard whispers and rumors of an impending clash with that underground element, but they had remained nothing more than smoke in the air, faint and carrying no weight. But with a single blow, the mortals had struck fear into the hearts of the fae. Their message was loud and clear, and they had sent it at a conspicuous juncture which could not be ignored.
The Thorn had had little else to do but keep apprised of the situation in the Night Court. Such a blatant attack on their turf was unacceptable, and her contacts had relayed that there was a certain fervor to the High Lord and his Inner Court’s attempts to reassure the people that they were safe. What stood out to her most about this was that these attempts did not extend outwards. As usual, Gabriel Beaumont and his lackeys were focused solely on the Night Court and those within. Sure, he’d worked with Lucien Nightborne to evacuate when the body had hit the floor and chaos broke out. But since then, no word had reached the Garden (or the Wild Hunt, as far as she could tell) of any plans for protecting anyone who lived outside their ring of mountains.
Selfish pricks.
Not that she could say or do anything about it. Hekate was beholden to her queen only, and had waited more or less patiently for her next assignment in the Garden’s interests. Finally, it had come.
Build a better picture of what the Resistance wanted, and what their future plans might involve. Find out if the Garden was in immediate peril. If so, put a stop to it at once.
The only question was of where she should start. She could glamour her wings and use makeup to alter her appearance, but it would still be risky to try and directly infiltrate the Resistance herself. And after what those filthy scum had done to Sophia when they’d captured her, Hekate wasn’t eager to walk among them. But there was another option open to her. She just had to get lucky.
It took days of staking out strategic parts of Cloverwood Forest, areas where human activity was rumored to increase. It took a mini-tour of nearby communes and towns, sleeping her way to information as to where she might find a particular man: a hulking behemoth of raw, lupine power, who might have been seen to only possess a single wing. After all, the scandal of how Raymond Holloway had been thrown from the Wild Hunt was legend, and even in the Garden they knew of his betrayal to join the humans. Perhaps today, as she sat in the upper branches of an oak and watched the hunting trail below her closely, she would see the man for herself. And perhaps she could get some answers.

❀ HEKATE NIGHTINGALE ❀ — Wings & Affinities
As a nymph, Hekate’s wings are a glittering sight to behold. Like her mother before her, her wings are that of a delicate, translucent butterfly. When viewed from the front, they are almost entirely see-through; from the back, they shimmer with a range of colors (mostly greens and golds) which reflect her environment. And like her mother’s wings, Hekate’s sparkle with the same divine light that all nymphs share.
However, thanks to her father’s Summer Court blood and warrior lineage, Hekate’s wings also possess a particular strength to them, mainly visible in the thick, dark veins that run throughout them. Additionally, the sparkle of her wings is more akin to starlight on water than the radiant, sunlit glow of her nymph sisters. They come alive most at night, where they shine as brightly as the stars above her.
Being a nymph, Hekate’s magical prowess lies primarily in healing magic. But she has taken it a step further and taught herself a particular brand of that art which she calls “harmful healing”: the act of overstimulating the body’s natural healing abilities to the point of discomfort, disfigurement, and pain. She rarely uses this, only opting for it if her usual methods of seduction, charm, and a little brute force do not suffice. But it is something she’s taken great pains to develop and master so that she can use it if needed. Beyond that, her Summer Court blood has given her a small connection to the waters of Astralis: this primarily manifests in a gift for “talking” to rivers, streams, and such to learn what’s going on around her. Most important in her arsenal are her non-magical abilities, such as art, music, and sexuality. Seduction is her greatest weapon, and she’s augmented it with some useful combat training so that she is never completely defenseless.

@chaoticdrkness : hekate + kuzey
The Thorn’s emotions fluctuated increasingly as the night wore on. Nymph emotions didn’t so much run hot and cold as they did blazing and freezing, and Hekate was known for staying in the fiery end of that scale more often than not. But her duties meant that she needed to keep herself in check more thoroughly than most of her sisters. Letting her emotions run away with her was a surefire way to get caught with someone she wasn’t supposed to be with. Or somewhere she wasn’t allowed. Emotions lead to mistakes. And while The Garden never taught its beautiful denizens to curb their own feelings, Hekate wouldn’t allow herself to make mistakes. It was an intolerable thought.
So what was she to do, then? She couldn’t just keep circling the grand reception hall and its ballroom, hoping that her passionate heart would simply calm itself. That’s not how things worked. She needed a release of some kind, a way to get those feelings out of her head and heart so that she could go back to focusing on her mission. There was only one thing that would offer the quick relief she needed, though, and she was already so picky about her sexual partners.
Then... why not combine work and pleasure? A man nearby caught her eye, striking in appearance from his dark hair and eyes to his chiseled jaw and muscular frame. Despite not spending much time in the Spring Court, given how unstable their High Lord was, she knew the man from descriptions given to her by her fellow Thorns: Kuzey Korkmaz, Ares Deerling’s Captain of the Guard. A clever man, as deadly with his mind as with a sword, and sporting a healthy ego to match his achievements. Most importantly right at this moment, he was stunning. And he would absolutely serve to scratch the itch she was so desperately seeking.
With her wings still glamoured and hidden from view, it was hard to know that Hekate was of The Garden on first sight. But she knew her other physical assets, not to mention her flower motif, would likely give up her game eventually. So she wanted to hit hard and fast, and lean into the allure that nymphs provided for outsiders as much as possible. “Captain Korkmaz?” Her voice lilted in a question, as though unsure if she was correct, and she tinged her expression with awe. “I thought that might be you. I was wondering when I’d have the chance to meet you for myself. I’ve heard so many stories about you.”

@gardensheir : hekate + rosaline
Too long away from The Garden was enough to put Hekate in a foul mood that could last weeks. Since her last foray into the outside world, she’d taken to holing up in her cottage so as not to accidentally take her irritation out on her sisters, only leaving to find members of the Wild Hunt to use for release or to bathe in the beautiful springs. But as time went on, she found herself craving the closeness that she shared with her sisters. Day by day, little by little, that cloudy disposition dissipated, replaced by the calm and all-encompassing joy she could only feel at home here in The Garden, surrounded by her fellow nymphs.
Thus when the time came to pay a visit to her beloved Queen, Hekate was in a much more appropriate mood for such an occasion. Her distaste for the outside world was her own shortcoming, and as much as she would hate to let an ounce of that slip out to hurt another nymph, she would hate even more if she accidentally snapped at Rosaline. The Queen of Roses deserved better than being snapped at, especially by one of her Thorns, in whom she’d placed so much trust. Hekate refused to repay that trust with a surly attitude, so to her, the period of emotional quarantine was essential in ensuring that she treated her queen with the respect she deserved.
Also essential was the physical preparation for her meeting with Rosaline. An excessively long bath in the hot springs was followed by almost an hour of grooming and anointing her skin with jasmine oils. To top it off, she draped herself in layers of sheer white chiffon that, when tied just so, cascaded into an elegant, flowing dress. A lily tucked behind her ear, and she was ready.
The way to Rosaline’s bower was as familiar to Hekate as her own heartbeat—a song she knew every note of, every melody and harmony like a balm on her soul. The Garden was a paradise, every inch of it lush and blooming and comfortable, but the Queen of Roses was housed in by far the most exquisite area of all. If she could, she would spend hours there, simply sitting at Rosaline’s side, listening to the nymph queen speak on any subject she cared to share. That was true paradise. And her longing for that sliver of comfort was just barely audible in her voice as she announced her presence to the one person whose opinion she valued more than her own. “My Queen?”
