So I had the itch to make some new MotU OCs, and wanted to make some related to other characters, and thus siblings for Mer-Man were created, purely out of him being ousted as ruler. This, combined with an outside-MotU character I headcanon as their father, led to this idea. Gillor Real name: Ricou Rex Current heir of the seas! Having Mer-Man as heir of the seas has become a liability for the Aquatican court. Not long after Mer-Man's ousting as king, a new child was born to the House of Rex. Around the same age as Adam and Teela, Gillor has found himself as a young king of the seas. Attempting to patch up the damage his hardly-met older brother has caused has been a feat, especially since he's pretty unsure of his abilities, despite his chipper personality. His strongest ability lets him dive to the furthest depths of waters, no matter the darkness, waves, pressure, or currents. This has helped make him useful at helping explore and map out thought-to-be unchartable areas of the sea. Shella Real name: Megowan Rex Ambassador of the seas! Born so far past Mer-Man's outing that she never even met her eldest brother, Shella has managed to prove herself as more than just a "backup heir". Despite a pessimistic look often on her face, she is surprisingly cordial and open to communication, another key element in patching up the damage that Mer-Man caused. Thanks to her combination of smaller stature paired with a larger body, she is much more cold-resistant than the mainly-tropical other Aquaticans. As such, she is able to withstand polar waters, another boon towards creating new allies of the seas.

I've only been on this website for less than a year, I think, but right now, at the end of the year, I do a picture of these two OCs, Shella and Lily. They're pirates of a stranger nature, neither human though mortal in appearance. Normally, I draw these two in the same picture together, but I had a brilliant idea while driving to the Grocery Store. I think this was worth the effort.

“Plina neće biti godinama”
Foto: EPA Direktor naftnog giganta Shella, Ben van Beurden, upozorava da bi Evropa mogla biti suočena s ograničenim pristupom energentima i duže od samo jedne zime. Getting a Shella Whent AND an Anya Waynwood shout out in the same chapter was like catnip to me, a person obsessed with women who rule in Westeros.
I also think it’s super interesting how Anya Waynwood’s sons are all kinda old - her heir, Morton, puts himself forward for Lysa’s hand - yet it’s Anya that is clearly head of House Waynwood, which probably means two of our most forefront examples of women ruling in their own right are Jeyne Arryn and Anya Waynwood, both in the Vale. And you have female line inheritance with Harry Hardyng as well, fostering with a ruling lady. The Vale prides itself on its chivalry and its knighthood but unlike the Reach, which is often also considered very "conservative" (likely as a sort of culture war esque backlash to the Marches and their rivalry with Dorne), the Vale is almost unique in having female line inheritance that is actually followed (unlike in the North, which talks a big game about daughters coming before uncles yet has two infamous usurpations in its history) or even ruling women.
There's something to be said about a people whose ruling family dies off so often that even with male preference primogeniture and a number of rebellions against Jeyne Arryn, they've been forced to take the more pragmatic approach of "well the boys are all dead so we best raise our girls well so they're not idiots and can rule." I think the geography really shapes this approach - it's difficult to get to the seat of House Arryn, it's difficult to travel through the Vale period, and like the North, they have to deal with Wildlings as an added threat the Reach doesn't have to deal with (because it's notable that Dorne is a lot more centralized in its rule than either group of Wildlings! The issues in the Marches are cultural and border disputes, which is different than like, two groups of people descended from the same common ancestor getting into issues without any sort of negotiations going on. The Dornish Conquest was bloody and violent and had war crimes on both sides, but there was parlaying and attempts at peace that there just isn't between the Vale and the Wildlings, or the North and Wildlings [until Jon sticks his nose in it, anyway, and I do imagine the Vale Wildlings are about to stick their nose in some shit too]).

Lady Whent, last of her line, who dwelt with her ghosts in the cavernous vaults of Harrenhal…

how do you think the curse of harrenhal would play out with arya if she becomes lady during the long night?
Anon is referencing this post. I began by questioning whether a curse really exists. It's a widespread legend, but Martin never confirms it, just as he never confirms that behind the magic there are gods who care about the fate of humanity.
Many of the families that held Harrenhal have died out for contingent reasons. They often had in common that they were relatively small families, who ended up there overnight thanks to connections to the crown; a lot of ambition and little experience in managing such a big castle. But the doubt that a curse exists remains.
House Hoar and the curse
Those who believe, in world, that the curse exists explain it as a punishment for Harren the Black's hubris and maybe that's true, but I think we can't ignore how much it looks related to the Old Gods.
House Hoare went to great lengths to be cursed by the Gods far before Harrenhal was built. When the Andals invaded Westeros they allied with the invaders, married Andal women, brought the Faith of the Seven to the Iron Islands, conquered the Riverlands from the Storm King of Storm's End, a Durrandon king with blood of the First men.
Harren chose the site to erect his castle on the banks of the Gods Eye, he enslaved half the population (probably people still mostly loyal to the Old gods) and above all he cut down Weirwoods which had existed for three thousand years.
Perhaps all that is needed to break the curse is one person who does not abuse her power and does not offend the Gods with her mere presence. Arya's Gods seem to love her enough to give us that beautiful scene where she hears her father's voice whispering to her from the trees.
The Ladies of Harrenhal
It's not difficult to think of a lord of Harrenhal who has come to a bad end, but what about the ladies?
It is rather rare in Westeros for a lady to hold the power of a holdfast on her own right rather than in the name of her husband or son, yet Harrenhal has four cases of this. Still there are so many lords in the castle's history that the only four ladies look like white flies.
They have common characteristics, but the most obvious is the way their fate seems different from that of the lords, or at least more mysterious.
Shella Whent is the Lady of Harrenhal at the beginning of AGOT. She first appears in a Cat's chapter: Lady Whent, last of her line, who dwelt with her ghosts in the cavernous vaults of Harrenhal. (I love it, very poetic, it reminds a bit of the Jenny's song)
We then discover that Lady Whent surrendered Harrenhal for lack of men to defend it. But Arya doesn't know and she thinks: Arya could reveal herself to Lady Whent, and the knights would escort her home and keep her safe. This was what knights did; they kept you safe, especially the women. Perhaps Lady Whent would even help the crying girl. (She refers to weasel, but the crying girl also represents a side of Arya, the one she's trying to suppress in order to survive. Perhaps the Lady of Harrenhal also represents a part of Arya).
When Arya arrives at the castle Lady Whent has escaped. At the Red Wedding Sandon Clagane introduces himself as Lady Whent's servant and is asked if the lady intends to buy back Harrenhal with a horse. Petyr Baelish tells Sansa that Shella died, but her whereabouts and how she died are unknown.
She is listed in the ADWD appendix as the dispossessed lady of Harrenhal. Every time we get close to discovering her fate, she keeps eluding us. Is she really dead? Why is it not marked in the appendix?
Danelle Lothston was the last member of House Lothston to hold the castle. Of her we know that: When Lord Brynden Rivers, Hand of Aerys I Targaryen, marched on Whitewalls to put down the Second Blackfyre Rebellion, Lady Danelle was among the Riverlords who flocked to her support, marching in great force.
Lady Danelle took to the dark arts during the reign of Maekar I Targaryen, causing madness and chaos and the downfall of Lothston's kindred.
But what happened to her? When did she die? How did she die?
Even more interesting are the unofficial ladies of Harrenhal. These two women are the only ones who have not been granted the title from the crown, but have in fact held this office (And I think Arya situation might be similar):
Rhaena Targaryen lived a tragic life, she was lady of the castle in an unofficial way. The wiki says of her: Her hair turned white as she aged, and the people of the Riverlands came to fear her as a witch. Nonetheless, she Rhaena would bestow hospitality on any traveler who came to Harrenhal.
She reigned there until her death presumably of old age
Alys Rivers began her journey at Harrenhal as little more than a servant. She lived a tragic life and was unofficially lady of the castle.
It was said of her that: A number of broken men and marauding outlaws began to gather in Harrenhal under the rule of a witch queen witch. But how long did she reign? We only know that: Aegon's regents concluded that they would need to gather a larger force to recapture Harrenhal, but their plans were interrupted by Winter Fever in 133 AC.
This happens when Alys was already a middle-aged woman. Then we have no more news of her fate. We only know that the Lothstons became lords of Harrenhal nearly thirty years later. How did Alys die? Did she reign at Harrenhal all that time?
Why are the Ladies of Harrenhal subject to so many exceptions to their counterparts? 2/4 unofficial, 3/4 accused of witchcraft, 3/4 with unknown fates.
Maybe it's just a coincidence, or maybe I've found a pattern.

I've seen prob like hundreds of hours of the Simmers of Twitch playing Among us by now so as an expert /s on sabotage games
FCG and Imogen would be the gaslighters and good at it, big braining each emergency meeting and self reporting and getting away with it
Chetney would stack kill, cmon. and get caught every time
Fearne would stack kill, get away with it by loudly screaming sus on someone else and self reporting. Also she'd be QUEEN of the driveby kill
Ashton would kill on electrical, hanging out in the corner while sabotaging and chatting with whoever else wanders in if their cooldown is still cooldowning
Orym would be so good at the vents, quick guilty kills, no marinating, just business and GONE
Laudna would be the chatty imposter, not doing a lot of kills but rly good at pulling focus and giving time for their partner to get three in a round

What happened to Lady Shella Whent? Was she still alive when Harrenhal was given to Janos Slynt, and later Petyr Baelish? Did Lannister regime formally disinherit her? Did she give any support to Robb, or the Tully's before that? Later, someone (can't remember who) says she died? Was it of old/natural causes or did the Lannisters kill her off?
Not a lot of firm information. Kevan Lannister reports ahead of the battle of the Green Fork that "Lady Whent yielded Harrenhal for want of men to defend it". Lady Whent is also among those aristocrats whom Joffrey summons to do homage to him at the end of AGOT, although this may or may not mean that the Lannister-Baratheon regime in King's Landing knew that Lady Whent was still alive, much less where she was living at the time; indeed, in this same court session Joffrey also grants Harrenhal to Janos Slynt, necessarily dispossessing Shella Whent of her own castle and title (and thereby removing the very reason she would have a feudal responsibility to do homage to the (would-be) Lord of the Seven Kingdoms). Shella is already long gone by the time Arya gets to Harrenhal, as she reports Lady Whent as "fled" (when thinking about how Shella had "used only the lower thirds of two of the five towers, and let the rest go to ruin" during her former existence as Riverrun's bannerman). We get no other sense of Shella Whent through the rest of the series (apart from Donnel Haigh's scornful question to the disguised Sandor as to whether Shella Whent "think[s] she can buy Harrenhal back with a horse"), save when Littlefinger mentions casually that "Lady Whent's died as well, I hear" (though the WOIAF app specifies that her death occurred "not long after the Red Wedding"). Likewise, the only mention we get of any kind of Whent-related service to the Stark-Tully cause during the War of the Five Kings is the presence of Ser Willis Wode, a bannerman to Harrenhal, with Catelyn during her journey through the Vale.
My guess - and this is only a guess - is that following the yielding of Harrenhal to Tywin's forces, Shella Whent left her castle voluntarily - to live with whatever in-laws/cousins she might have still had (interestingly, though, not the Tullys, whose aunt she might have been), to go into exile in Essos, to find a motherhouse or other (supposedly) safe and neutral dwelling to live out her days, or for some other reason we can't know. Shella would already have been old by Westerosi standards by 298/299 AC: if she was the mother of the "fair maid" of Harrenhal (who, by her description, I would guess was probably born no later than the mid to late 260s), and thus probably also the maid's brothers, then Shella was probably at least in her 50s or 60s by the time of the main series - not the oldest any character has ever been, but certainly not young (in a world where, for example, Jaehaerys I the "Old King" died at 69 and Barristan Selmy considers himself old at approximately 63). Even if she did not already suffer from health problems - thanks to age and/or a lifelong dwelling at Harrenhal (which may have negatively affected the healths of her kinswomen Sarya and Wynafrei and her servant Pia) - Shella may have wanted to avoid living as a female prisoner of a Lannister army, perhaps fully aware of what had happened under Tywin's watch during the Sack of King's Landing (and aware that her kinsmen had been closely associated with the Targaryens during Robert's Rebellion, a fact which Shella may have thought would not help her win friends among Tywin's men). I would guess that she died somewhere specific (rather than, say, along the road), given that Littlefinger seems to have heard about her death, but whether that was at a family seat, in a motherhouse, or in a city or town is wildly unclear.
Whatever the specific manner, time, and place of her death, Shella Whent's fate reflects considerable tragedy and tragic irony. She who had ruled over Harrenhal (even if publicly only as consort) during the height of its glory at its great tourney - her fair daughter and her strong sons on display in front of virtually the entire world - ended her days dispossessed and alone, away (perhaps far away) from the only home she had ever known. She who had been looked to by Arya as a possible genteel savior - with Arya dreaming that she "could reveal herself to Lady Whent", whose "knights would escort her home and keep her safe" and who "would even help the crying girl" - herself died as a lone woman, fled from knights and unable to help herself, much less anyone else. She who had been a friend to the Watch could not avail herself of its protection once she had suffered her last reversal of fortune, thanks to her gender. Where Rhaena Targaryen had once looked to Harrenhal as a final resting place from her wanderings, once she had lost her family, friends, and loves, Shella Whent had been forced to wander out into Westeros to an unknown fate once she herself had lost everything.
