Shia Surprise
Tumblr media
Cale Erendreich x GN!Reader
Summary: Your taste in music confuses him.
Soundtrack: Shia LaBeouf Live by Rob Cantor
Requests: Open!
Warnings: It's Cale Erendreich.
"What the fuck are we listening to?" he asks, staring at you in between glances to the road.
Instead of answering, you belt out the line, "There's a gun to your head and death in his eyes~!"
"There's about to be a gun to your head," he grouses, death in his eyes and a finger pointing dangerously in your direction. "See, this is why I never let you connect to the car before. You online types, I'll never fucking understand you."
"Normal Tuesday night for Shia LaBeouf!"
He looks over to you and sees you grinning. With a grunt at the back of his throat, he asks, "What are you smiling at?" You don't answer, opting to keep singing along instead as you continue to grin at him.
"I fucking hate this."
That manages to break your resolve, and a fit of giggles overtakes you. He shoots you a withering glare that eases the moment he sees the genuine joy on your face. His mouth opens, presumably to say something, but he seems to think better of it and focuses on the road instead.
He passes the rest of the song in silence, simply letting you sing along uninterrupted. When it ends, though, he looks relieved, which only makes you giggle more.
"Fucking finally. I can't believe you listen to that shi--"
"LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS! TO DEFEAT -- THE HUNS!"

Olivia in her Variety article just a few days ago:
“I say this as someone who is such an admirer of his work. His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions. He has a process that, in some ways, seems to require a combative energy, and I don’t personally believe that is conducive to the best performances. I believe that creating a safe, trusting environment is the best way to get people to do their best work. Ultimately, my responsibility is to the production and to the cast to protect them. That was my job,” Wilde said.
Olivia when Shia quit:
“I feel like I’m not ready to give up on this yet, and I too am heartbroken and I want to figure this out,” she says in the video. “You know, I think this might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re open to giving this a shot with me, with us. If she really commits, if she really puts her mind and heart into it at this point and if you guys can make peace — and I respect your point of view, I respect hers — but if you guys can do it, what do you think? Is there hope? Will you let me know?”

Can we get a reader that was born and grew up on an island/archipelago with either the main 3 or 4. For example, Philippines or Hawaii?
People in the madcom x reader section when I post
Tumblr media
Not only that, but the boys are going on vacation or something better (also slight nsfw warning for Deimos cuz he’s a bit of a perv) Hank:
He wonders what your life what like in what is considered to be a paradise according to the majority (perhaps he’d like to go there as well)
If you offer to take him to your home country, he has so many wonders
When you first arrive at a sunny beach, he feels like he just escaped hell and what feels like to him, heaven. Oh wait.
I hope you agree with his pleas to stay (apparently, this scary ass mf tries to act all cute and gives you the puppy eyes cuz he really don’t wanna leave)
Shia LaBeouf voice: DO IT! JUST DO IT!
Sanford:
Sanford always dreamed of leaving Nevada and staying at an expensive apartment by a warm sunny beach for the rest of his life so he’s jelly
If you plan to leave Nevada with him and go to your childhood home, he’ll be the happiest man alive
He flops down on the soft hot sand and breathes out a heavy sigh. He finally had his dreams come true
He’s more playful and enthusiastic. Also splashing you with water when you least expect it and swimming around the shoreline like some professional swimmer (headcanon that this dude’s athletic. After all, he’s jacked up)
After the day ends and you’re both tired. He holds you very close to him and peppers your face with kisses. This is his way of saying “thank you” and that his love for you skyrocketed higher than Snoop Dogg
Deimos:
“Wait if you’re from an island? Could you take me there?! Please! Please! Pleeeeeeease!” (Yea Deimos is the most childlike out of the main four)
If you take him to your home country, he’ll be more ecstatic than a sugar addicted kid who drank 5 bottles of Coca Cola.
Bro saw you in your swimsuit and he’s just there staring at you and drooling like damn (his mind: Lemme smash)
He is very rowdy and wild when you guys visit the beach and he acts like a child all day until the sun sets, then he’s knocked out after his excitement rush
2BDamned:
Like Sanford, he’s also jealous. He has to work for 3 annoying, psycho men in a crazy and corrupted environment while you got to relax at a beautiful beach
If you tell him that you and him are gonna leave to go to your home, he’ll love you forever cuz he is so ready to be done with his old job for good
He has a foodgasm when trying exotic foods native to your homeland (he’s tired of eating that stale metallic mush that’s basically the only food he’s allowed to eat in Nevada), and he doesn’t take his eyes off the views of the beaches for more than 2 hours
If you rent an apartment with big cozy beds, best believe he’s holding you extremely tight when you’re sleeping with him

Shia Labeof (Rob Cantor)
You’re walking in the woods/There’s no one around and your phone is dead/Out of the corner of your eye you spot him/Shia LaBeouf!
"Like actually. I can’t really explain it but from the first time I heard it I’ve genuinely adored it. Most of that is because how absolutely bizarre the lyrics are, but never discount the drama of watching the production level in the video keep going up. Like that whisper kid, and the dancers. And then Shia actually there? Only one in the audience? The person who came up with this is mind boggling. And to get Shia onboard? This would not happen with probably any one else."
Poll Runner: First heard this onw when I was a kid and had no idea who Shia was... I still don't but it's still such a fun weird song.
Freak Show (Set It Off)
I am circus freak/Cut out my heart, cut out my heart/Loveless and watch me bleed/Tear me apart, tear me apart/I've lost myself in make believe/I dont want to go, I dont want to go, make me/Over and over I've deceived/You want reform? I can conform/Cuz I cant take any more of your tainted bliss
"Its just really personal and I can connect to the lyrics on that first bit I typed since om aromantic. It also jus t has a really noce sound to it"
Poll Runner: It's a song about feeling left out, an outcast, but its so wonderfully angry and resentful and powerful rather than sad. One of my favourite Set it Off songs - it fucks HARD.

"It's Wednesday my dudes..." *screams*
Naruto running literally anywhere

Another idea: Ellis occasionally makes up bogus Keith stories. They're always super obvious, but so far, no one's commented on Keith's pet velociraptor, his encounter with Cthulhu, his adopted Grey Alien brother, that time he met multiple versions of himself, or other Keith Escapades™. Either they're not paying attention, or they are and at this point they're too afraid to ask.
AHAHAHA ABSOLUTELY- I choose to believe Keith only pulls stupid stunts to impress Ellis, which he achieves every time, and then Ellis proceeds to blow every single story wayyyy out of proportion. He just thinks Keith is so cool and can't help but exaggerate. He'd absolutely get carried away and just start making shit up just to make Keith seem cooler than he really is.
TBH I can imagine Ellis reciting every single lyric from Shia Labeouf Live but replacing "You" with "Keith". The other survivors are in awe listening to the tale of Keith fighting Shia Labeouf to death in the woods, and they don't really believe it, but how are they gonna prove Ellis wrong? Are they gonna ask Shia Labeouf? Good luck with that.

since we’re sort of on the topic: can you explain the whole hating band guys’ wives/gfs from fans and why it happens? i probably am thinking too much on this, but is it just because of teenagers’ fantasies wanting to be with their 30+ idol and that 00.1% of being with them dies with it if they have a partner and even kids? is it them trying to project their ships if they’re into rpf and them dating a girl kills their yaoi fantasies lol. not saying you have to 100% stan their partners or even like them like with what we see on the opposite end of the scales with fan accounts dedicated to wives which is uhhhh but some ladies who do nothing but exist get ruthlessly talked to shreds and their husbands put on pedestals
Yeah I think it's a lot of factors including the ones you listed. I've been a band girl stannie for over 10 years and I feel like I've seen things come full circle from vitriolic hatred to intense stanning to vitriolic hatred of all women. People do stuff like censor Lynz in photos of her and Gerard because she's "problematic," which is very 2009 Livejournal behavior and something Gerard is very strongly against.
Like twenty people are going to unfollow me and I'm going to get 200 angry anons but the line in Foundations of Decay "He gets to die a saint but she will always be a whore" is very clearly referencing gendered double standards. However, no one in the fanbase interprets it this way because acknowledging Gerard even has a wife and has opinions about women deeper than "Don't show your tits to get backstage" would shatter everyones brains and ruin their perception of Gerard as this gay trans icon that is so gay he doesn't get anywhere near icky problematic women. So their fans keep censoring their wife in photos and censoring captions acknowledging they're a couple because she's so horrible you can't even look at her.
Obviously Gerard uses they/them pronouns in addition to he/him and has spoken out about their feelings about gender identity and those intetpretations of his lyrics are important to acknowledge too but that line is pretty obviously talking about gendered double standards.
Obviously Lynz has done some things that really aren't cool, but her chief actual sins seem to be art theft, racism, and being friends with Jimmy Urine, which are all things Gerard has been at least of accused of too-- he was collaborating with Jimmy Urine as recently as 2020 and Jimmy Urine was in the Danger Days music videos but everyone just closes their eyes and points at Lynz.
But anyway, I think some of it is sexual jealousy and some of it is frustration that acknowledging they're into girls too means not every FOB song is about Mikey, maybe 1 or 2 are about his actual former wife. But I also think some of it is misplaced anger and frustration that no matter how smart you are or how good of a musician or artist you are or how successful of a career you have or whatever as a woman, male celebrities are almost always going to go for an influencer or model that's probably 10-15 years younger and wants to have six kids starting at age 22, and even if they want to make music with a girl they'll still pick a 19 year old ten years younger they can easily take advantage of or mistreat, like CS with Victoria and Black Cards with Bebe Rexha. And it can be easy to resent people who happen to be that pretty and happen to get lucky and be in the right place at the right time when they're very, very young and be born rich.
Also like sometimes band wives do really shitty things-- I believe Sarah Urie told an extremely racist joke while Brendon was on livestream. Mike Dirnt's wife is an antivaxxer and a vitriolic transphobe and BJA's wife participated in cyberbullying a teenager her son sexually abused And it sounds like Olivia Wilde prioritized her desire for Shia LaBeouf to be in Don't Worry Darling over Florence Pugh's safety and comfort. But before that ever came out people were calling Olivia Wilde an ugly pedophile because she was dating a 28 year old man-- famous guys date much younger than that all the time and no one ever blinks. But like Meagan doesn't do anything and has no online presence and people just fucking hate her because she's a lady that exists.
I don't really know where I'm going with this but people just hate women so much it is insane-- people get worked up over acknowledging Victoria existed in Cobra at all when Gabe made the same types of offensive jokes she did constantly and he was actually accused of emotional abuse by a female ex band member. Everyone just closes their eyes and points at Victoria.
It's so bad that a lot of band guys tend to be more feminist in this regard than their mostly female base as a whole even though theyre all like shitty and support Johnny Depp lol

not sure if you're aware but jon bernthal stands in solidarity with shia labeouf, the interview they had together "hot ones" was disgusting.
alright, nonny, here i come. more info under the cut and tw: for ab*se.
first and foremost, i wanna say that i had no idea about the content of the REAL ONES podcast until this message. i watched both jon's real ones podcast with shia as a guest and his hot ones episode, though there was no mention of shia in the latter. and, yes, i listened to every last second of the 2 hour podcast. i took notes.
i think "stands in solidarity" is a bit of a strong statement. i think, after watching, that maybe jon and shia are just really good friends, and that jon is empathetic to the flawed human being that shia is. this is in no way an apologetic post for shia, i don't care one way or another about him, but... sincerely, did you watch the podcast?
jon opened a door for shia to talk about his experience, and i don't see anything wrong with that. shia spent the whole two hours apologizing for his deplorable actions and speaking on how he needs to make up for it, how he's going to be 'making amends' for the rest of his life, not only to those he victimized but to the other people his actions affected. i think that takes a lot of balls... to use your voice and actually hold yourself fucking accountable. so, kudos to shia, because i don't see any of these other sleazeball men accused in hollywood coming forward and expressing their regret, expressing how flawed and immature they were when they made their choices, and actively trying to be better people after the fact.
we have to think about celebrity culture and discourse. why do we put these people on such high pedestals? they are people with flaws, people who make mistakes, people who fuck up, people who feel. why do we cancel one celebrity for maintaining a friendship with another after questionable behavior as if that celeb engaged in the behavior themselves? i don't believe in damning someone for being guilty by association, and i have a lot of feelings on the whole issue of cutting someone out of your life based on their past actions. idk anything about shia's previous relationship or the shit he's accused of or where he was mentally, and, frankly i don't care, because -- like he said more than once -- there's no excuse, nothing else matters other than the fact that he did those bad things. but, as a survivor of abuse, i have not cut out the people in my life who remain close and supportive of my abuser. that's just not the way the world works, i'm so sorry.
the entire interview/conversation is one that reveals the many flaws of the egos of men in hollywood, how it's easy to fall into that headspace. never ONCE do either of them make excuses for themselves, never once does jon pardon him or tell him he feels sorry for him or that things should be different. he simply offered a FRIEND a platform to say what he needed to say. i wasn't disgusted by the podcast at all. did shia rub me the wrong way a few times? yes, absolutely, but he's not my friend, and i don't believe any of the content in the episode was problematic or hurtful to anyone. that said, i fully support jon and his work, and i'm not going to stop liking him or suddenly cancel him because he happens to have a friend who's done some shit i don't agree with.

If you don't mind could you summarize the Don't Worry Darling drama? I don't get it
Shia Labeouf was originally slated to star along side Florence Pugh directed by Olivia Wilde. Sometime before filming he left the project. It's heavily implied that for reasons we can only speculate, though given Labeouf's history we can probably guess, there were issues between him and Pugh. Fast forward he is replaced by Harry Styles, at some point him and Olivia Wilde start dating during filming, igniting a jealous fury from fangirls around the world. Fast forward, fast forward Olivia Wilde gives an interview with Variety where she insinuates but doesn't outright state that Labeouf was fired.
That was my job.”
“A lot came to light after this happened that really troubled me, in terms of his behavior,” Wilde says. “I find myself just really wishing him health and evolution because I believe in restorative justice. But for our film, what we really needed was an energy that was incredibly supportive. Particularly with a movie like this, I knew that I was going to be asking Florence to be in very vulnerable situations, and my priority was making her feel safe and making her feel supported.”
LaBeouf, on a newfound tradcath kick and eager to prove he is a changed man that has found God, no doubt sees this as the perfect opportunity to deflect from his long history of toxic on-set behavior and abusive off-set behavior finds a scapegoat in Miss Wilde who Harry Styles stans have been salivating for a valid reason to hate and pens a letter disproving her claims of him being fired and provides video evidence where she is seemingly begging him not to quit. She does somewhat disparage Pugh by calling her "Miss Flo". Pugh seemingly has distanced herself from the film by reportedly deciding not to do any press apart from the Venice film fest leading to speculation that she has had a falling out with Wilde.

Don’t Worry Darling Spoilers
ShSo after lapping up all of the recent drama about Don’t Worry Darling, I went to see the actual movie.
Because everything about the promotion of the film and everything that has been surfacing about how it was made was so unprofessional, I expected a terrible movie. When I checked out the trailer I was actually intrigued - it was giving me a mix between Black Swan and Strange Angel. Still went to see it with the expectation of laughing at a train wreck... but I actually enjoyed it!
Here’s some of my thoughts (i’m trying to keep it spoiler light):
It’s promoted wrong: it’s a mindfuck movie. In fact, it could have been released under the name of Christopher Nolan and it might have gotten a lot of praise (if there hadn’t been so much bad press). Central to it the plot is gendered abuse. Why on earth the director - Olivia Wilde - is promoting it as a feminist movie and making ‘female pleasure’ such a strong talking point baffles me. See: gendered abuse. By the end of the story, I would qualify the sex that takes place as rape. If Olivia really believes what she says, that’s creepy as fuck.
There is some really disturbing imagery in the movie. Main themes are losing your mind, abuse, self-harm and gaslighting. Some of the scenes are graphic. Don’t go in unprepared just because you want to see a cute movie with Harry Styles (which it won’t be anyway).
Casting & Harry Styles: I think recasting Shia LaBeouf was a good choice, considering his real life and what’s been in the press about that. I think that would have left a viewer who knows that very uncomfortable at the end of the movie. Considering what the reviews have been saying about Harry’s acting, I expected him to be completely cringe all the time. He was actually okay in my opinion.
Chris Pine: This was the first time I’ve seen Chris Pine play a bad guy. It was an experience. I’ve followed this guy since Star Trek and I have a soft spot for him. Seeing him, successfully, play the sort of person that freaks me out was an experience.
Themes & Similar media: My original instinct that it would have somewhat similar vibes as Black Swan and Strange Angel were right. It also seems to take some elements from Hannibal, Upload, and The Truman Show. The way that the neighborhood is set up, in part stylistically, reminded me of the start of Fall Out III (the videogame) and say Tim Burton’s movies such as Edward Scissorhands. I liked these aspects. It might also have found some inspiration in the Handmaid’s Tale, but it can’t even hold a candle to that in a million years (which sometimes is also good, bc the Handmaid’s Tale is traumatizing AF in how hardcore it showcases certain premises).
Directorial criticisms: I tried to look really critically and there is some negative stuff to be said about Olivia Wilde as a director, but I don’t think it goes beyond flaws that can be pointed out in most movies. Several times the music felt a bit off for the scene. I didn’t like the camera angles often. Some scenes felt like there was a specific point to them, but the execution wasn’t quite it yet and sometimes thus came across a bit awkward. When I mentioned Hannibal, I specifically think they tried to recreate the flashing scary dream-like cutscenes and haunting music as part of the journey of a character losing their mind, but it was a poor copy (which is sad).
Plot & directorial criticisms: The final plot is, in my opinion, really really cool. And it had a plottwist I didn’t see coming. I was intrigued enough with how it unfolded to really want to follow the movie closely. But the above-point does show up here too in the sense that the ideas where there, but sometimes I needed to make some stuff up in my head to make it work. Some of the stuff that bugged me sort of seemed to be explained in the end, sort of. The weak spot for me was that Alice’s reactions seemed overstated for what we as the viewer saw as the cause of them. The things that were odd that she found out about, did not support the questions she consequently raised and the distress she had about it. The speed and intensity with which she lost her mind also didn‘t feel justified. Maybe the point was that she knew more than she thought the whole time and we as the viewers knew, and maybe we were supposed to notice this as odd as a clue. Maybe some of what happened can be chalked up to a sort of glitches in the matrix. It didn’t ruin the movie either way, and I don’t hate extending upon what we see onscreen in my head, but I do think the movie might have been stronger with a bit more exposition/build-up on some things on screen.
I am very mad that they got Dita von Teese to star in this, doing her signature performance, and we barely got to see it because it was intercut with so much of Alice’s trauma memories/nightmarescape scenes. Full offense!
Ending: I am sad the movie ended right at the moment where Alice fully grasped what was going on. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of her dealing with the aftermath. I think that would have made a stronger emotional journey for the viewer.
World-building: I must admit I am really fascinated with the premise/world-building of the movie, and there are so many aspects of it that I would have enjoyed knowing more about. I’m sort of sad it wasn’t told in a TV format so there would have been room. I’m very curious about the creation of the Victory Project and Frank’s character motivations. I am also very curious about Shelley’s position in all of it. I am curious about the struggles that would come with maintaining the situation around Alice (which also raises the question about how time works for the Victory Project). I also would have loved to know more about the stories of the other residents - it could have some very powerful tales about gendered violence (e.g. think of the implications of the character who was referred to as ‘always pregnant’). I am also interested in beyond the domestic aspect, how much of the world-building is set up in such a way as to fulfill specific power fantasies for the men. Does Jack get a big promotion and the opportunity to dance in front of everyone, because that is what he desires? Also, to how much beyond the domestic trad!wife fantasy is the Victory Project intended to cater? What would happen if a guy applied who doesn’t want to bring a wife, maybe someone who just thinks the aesthetic is really neat? What happens if a gay man applied who wants to bring a husband?
Overall, I liked the movie. The premise / plot was great, the execution okay. I do think that if it hadn’t been tanked so hard by a bad rep created by all the negative things that have surfaced about its production and the horrible promotion of it, it might have done well. I think most of the flaws it displays tie to lack of experience or talent from the director. But I also do think that there is a chance it wouldn’t have been judged as harshly if it had been directed by a man.

Allie, after watching the press conference today, and how Harry spoke like he knew what he was doing and with so much care for what they created, do you think that he deliberately acted aloof and chaotic and really dumb in Venice even though that would certainly (as it did) cause him backlash from the media and mainly twitter?
I think it could have been on purpose, even if it wasn't a proper marketing strategy I think Harry definitely did that subconsciously. It's hard not to notice the number of self-deprecating jokes and how he was uncomfortable with the entire thing. From Holivia to the whole mess with Shia Labeouf and "Miss Flo", everything was so fucked up and put him in a really bad light, so IMO that didn't really help his confidence.
So acting dumb and "I don't know what I'm doing" somehow justifies not being very engaged with the story, the cast or the acting. But in general, I'm more inclined to believe he was simply not ready. He needed to be better prepared for the press conference. And with MP it was the opposite - although I was particularly worried about why he would ever put himself in a corner like that when it comes to directly have to address subjects like closeting and hidden relationships - he did amazing. He was beautifully eloquent and engaged with the character and the story and the cast... everything. So it's really a shame what happened with DWD. I hope we can all forget about it pretty quickly and focus on what matters.

I know people are talking about the salaries and how they don’t think it’s true but I do think that Harry is getting paid more than Florence. With how desperate Olivia was to get hairy a part of this film they would have given him anything. With losing Dakota Johnson and Shia LaBeouf and basically her driving them to leave so she could get hairy in this film I know that she would’ve paid him any amount to get him to agree to do this film. Yes having hairy be a part of the film will drive his Fanbase to maybe see it but that doesn’t mean that he should be getting paid more than Florence. She is the lead actress of the film. Harry isn’t even the lead actor. We all know he dies in this film and Florence is in the entire film. The entire film is based off of her character. Not to mention she is an Oscar nominated actress and one of the most popular and sought out actresses of her generation and you’re telling me harry styles who only gets rolls in films that he’s offered because he’s harry styles is getting paid more than her? I can see this now he’s not getting any of these roles because he’s talented he’s getting them because he’s a good singer and he’s famous. Dunkirk he was the one who sought out this role to change his image after one direction broke up. Olivia moved mountains to get hairy to be a part of don’t worry darling, he was the one who sought out the Director for my policeman, he was offered the role as Eros in Eternals, He was offered the role and Little mermaid and also was offered the role and nosferatu. He audition for Elvis and lost the part, he audition for Dune and lost it, He also auditioned for Star Wars and lost that part as well. Harry isn’t a good actor and you can see that in the fact that he auditions for a lot of projects but doesn’t get them. In Hollywood he basically has a nonexistent résumé so how is it that he is getting paid more than an Oscar nominated actress with the lead in the film? I know a lot of people don’t want to believe that he’s getting paid more than her but I truly believe that he is once the movie comes out we are going to get confirmation of the salaries. It doesn’t even matter if he’s making even $100,000 more than she is. He should not be making more than her at all. He should be getting paid less than her. When the salaries are confirmed and he isn’t making less than $700,000 then we know how fucked up this all is. He doesn’t deserve more than Florence, he’s not talented enough to earn the same amount as her nor does he deserve it. Also I doubt that he signed $100 million contract with marvel because that’s not how they do their movies. You have to figure out how much time you were going to be in the movie. If he’s not even a huge part of any of his marvel projects there’s no way he’s going to be making more than a lot of the actresses are actors in that. Also The marvel franchise is filled with a lot of legends but also Academy award winning actors so there is no way that harry styles is going to be making more than Angelina Jolie or Salma Hayek. And if he was then that’s not a good thing for him. He pride himself and being a feminist but how was it you’re taking more money than your female costars even though you’re not talented enough to deserve it

hi mel! i’m not sure if anyone has came to your inbox yet and updated you on the don’t worry darling drama, but i’ll try to cover everything for you! (i also apologize in advance for this being super long, i wasn’t sure how much knowledge you had coming in and i’ve gotten way to invested in following this.)
okay, the general background: the film was originally set to star shia labeouf (who has been accused of being abusive by many women, including his ex-girlfriend fka twigs) and florence pugh as the lead characters jack and alice. shia left the film because he didn’t feel there was enough rehearsal time, which upset olivia wilde, the film’s director, who begged him to stay on. nevertheless, he left, and they had to recast jack. olivia really wanted harry styles to play him. somewhere in this time, olivia broke up with her long term boyfriend jason sudeikis and started dating harry, and some people believe there may have been overlap. florence pugh also happens to be a good friend to jason sudeikis. there were some (unconfirmed) rumors during filming that olivia was behaving unprofessionally on set (specifically in regards to harry) and that florence essentially was doing a lot of the directorial work, so there were definitely rumors tension on set. later, olivia was onstage at cinemacon when she was served custody papers for hers and jason’s daughters. florence pugh is also known for enthusiastically promoting the films she’s in, but has basically done very little for this film, even going so far as to promote other projects on days when trailers for dwd drop, which is around the time people started to wonder if there was tension between olivia and florence. florence said in an interview that she was disappointed by the marketing of the film, which focused heavily on the sexual aspects of the film, and had olivia made a huge point of emphasizing that the film was about female sexuality and whatnot, at the very least they didn’t seem to be seeing eye-to-eye when it came to this. meanwhile olivia has been heaping praise onto florence in interviews and told variety in an interview that she fired shia because of the abuse allegations and because she was trying to protect florence… to which shia responded by sending an email to her which denied that he was fired and reiterated that he quit and then a video was leaked of olivia begging him to stay on with the film and at one point she says that if he could make it work, it might be a “wake up call for miss flo” and she rolled her eyes, further suggesting there was tension. i’ve also heard that around this time harry and olivia’s relationship started to get a bit rocky? it’s unclear. shortly after the video came out, florence announced she wouldn’t be taking part in the press tour for the film and would only be participating in the press stuff at venice, citing that she was filming for dune during that time— later, she amended it to only showing up for the red carpet and the screening of the film. however, a lot of people questioned if this was the real reason because timothée chalamet, who’s the lead in dune, was there pretty much the whole time.
okay, finally to the film festival itself! so first of all, while olivia and most of the cast were busy doing press for the film (with olivia at one point talking about how florence was busy filming and avoiding any questions about the rumors/drama), florence shows up in venice with aperol spritz, seeming to indicate that she wasn’t really needed for filming and just didn’t want to be there to promote dwd. there was also some fun moments where chris pine seems to be disassociating throughout at the press interviews (especially one funny moment where harry styles is saying that “[his] favorite thing about the movie is that it feels like a movie.”) the next day is the red carpet, where there seems to be a concentrated effort to keep florence, harry, and olivia away from each other, which was achieved with gemma chan, chris pine, and nick kroll standing/sitting between them at all times. i’m not sure why harry and florence were kept apart, but as for harry and olivia i’ve seen speculation that either a) olivia and harry don’t want attention put on themselves/their relationship (especially with all the other stuff going on), so they were purposefully keeping a distance to avoid fueling gossip or b) they have broken up. there’s video before the showing of the film starts where it appears that harry styles spits on chris pine when going to sit by him (i’m pretty sure chris pine’s rep confirmed he didn’t but it’s been a huge thing and honestly kind of funny). the film recieves four minutes of applause at the end, with florence pugh desperately trying to leave (presumably to make her flight back to the set of dune), and at some point during the applause harry kissed nick kroll.
and i think that’s it! obviously a lot of this is speculation and can/should be taken with a grain of salt, but this is most of what i’ve seen so far! love you and hope you’re doing well!!! 💙💙
oh my god darling anon, this is the greatest day of my life asdjkfh THANK YOU! i'd done some sleuthing but this is truly above and beyond! i had no idea about the custody papers thing that is ICE COLD. also the aperol spritz moment, may we all live to have one - this is an absolutely wild ride and i am completely in your debt for this comprehensive overview! also sudeikis >>>>>

What happened with Florence? I've seen vague posts about it all day but none of them say what happened.
24 August 2022, Variety published an interview with Olivia Wilde, director of Don’t Worry Darling, stating that she fired Shia Labeouf in order to “make Florence Pugh feel safe.
After Wilde posted on Instagram an adoring behind-the-scenes photo of Pugh at work, TikTokers noticed that Pugh didn’t share anything about the film in return. The internet theorizing has run rampant, and Page Six ran an anonymously sourced story claiming that Pugh was unhappy about Wilde and Styles’ relationship. Then came a report that Styles was being paid more than three times the amount Pugh was getting paid.
But in 2020, as production was just starting, Wilde made the decision to fire LaBeouf. The studio cited a scheduling conflict. Now, for the first time, Wilde speaks about the situation: “I say this as someone who is such an admirer of his work.
Today Shia fired back. In Variety:
Shia LaBeouf has come forward to dispute the assertion that he was fired from “Don’t Worry Darling” by director Olivia Wilde just as production was starting in 2020.
LaBeouf sent Variety screenshots of text messages he sent to Wilde in August 2020, where he told Wilde he’d have to back out of “Don’t Worry Darling.” He was cast as the lead actor Jack, which was later recast with Harry Styles.
According to the texts, LaBeouf and Wilde met in person in Los Angeles to discuss his exit from the film on Aug. 16, 2020. Later that night, Wilde texted him, “Thanks for letting me in on your thought process. I know that isn’t fun. Doesn’t feel good to say no to someone, and I respect your honesty. I’m honored you were willing to go there with me, for me to tell a story with you. I’m gutted because it could have been something special. I want to make clear how much it means to me that you trust me. That’s a gift I’ll take with me.”
LaBeouf claims he “officially” quit “Don’t Worry Darling” the next day on Aug. 17, 2020, according to the email he sent to Wilde on Thursday morning.
In his email to Variety, he included a video that Wilde allegedly sent him on Aug. 19, 2020, two days after he claimed he quit.
“I feel like I’m not ready to give up on this yet, and I, too, am heartbroken and I want to figure this out,” she says in the video.
In another message sent at an unspecified time between Aug. 16 and Aug. 20, Wilde texted LaBeouf, “You don’t have to be in my movies but don’t ever doubt me. We pinky promised. That means something in my house.”
Not only did Shia come with a denial, HE CAME WITH RECEIPTS.
This is Olivia’s video call from her phone (while driving!). Time stamped.
So not only did Olivia lie about firing Shia, she lied about creating a safe and protective space for “Miss Flo.” Olivia was asking for a second chance with Shia, condescending to Flo for not being willing to “really commit, really put her heart and mind into it.” Safe, protective spaces can go fuck themselves, eh?
Today, Florence Pugh UAs reported that her promo of Don’t Worry Darling would be limited to the Venice Film Festival, where the film will premiere (but did not qualify for competition).
