Not a request, just curious. Would you ever write more about Sasuke and Madara’s relationship? I love the idea of him being a mentor to Sasuke and love the dark take you had on it in your fic. I know you said you aren’t particularly interested in Itachi’s character anymore, is there a specific character you’d like to explore more?

I would, sure. And I’m glad you like my fic. I said it already so I’m repeating myself here, but the main reason I put it Somber Creation Pale Destruction (ff.net/ ao3) on hiatus was that I liked so much Madara and Sasuke being in their own world, literally, and the morbid-dark yet cosy atmosphere they were in, and since Itachi was supposed to appear as well, I kinda didn’t want lol.

Ofc I planned the whole plot, but still.

Tbh when I first had the idea of that fic I wanted to write the Madara/Sasuke relationship as secondary to Itachi/Sasuke, because I always liked the idea of Sasuke having Itachi as “one and only” in his heart (which imo is realistic for Sasuke, not necessarily in a shippy way), so that even if he got close to others, deep down there would always be Itachi, and I mean not necessarily in a romantic way.

Now I’d continue writing it, and I’d keep this Itachi thing, but I am very interested in exploring Sasuke’s interaction and relationships to other characters, because they’re less explored.

Yup I’m no longer interested in Itachi as a character, like I said already mostly because of the fandom and their stupid interpretation of his personality, either turning him into a meek martyr or accusing him of genocide and dismissing him, both aren’t interesting and don’t portray how controversial and interesting he used to be. But I did explore him and his relationship with Sasuke, in all its aspects. I still imagine Itasasu related things but yeah I would prefer to write something else instead. I’d never write Itachi and someone else anyway.

Other characters I’d like to explore?

Always interacting with Sasuke ofc, I am not interested otherwise. I kinda wrote it already in my writing page, and even more here.

Among all the characters I mentioned in the aforementioned ask I’d like to write more about:

Kakashi. I said it so many times but I love Kakashi and Sasuke interacting in any possible way. Kakasasu was my first ship and I have a lot of thoughts about them., despite the ending. I like Kakashi because he’s controversial, btw. If only I had motivation...my KS tag.

Suigetsu. imo they have a better dynamic than N*rusasu. More interesting. Sasuke respects Suigetsu and is totally comfortable with his quirks. Suigetsu provokes Sasuke to have his attention and respects him so much, he expressed it more times. And also, Suigetsu has a strong sadistic side, it’s canon. While Sasuke has a masochist side. For me it’s perfect. (suisasu tag)

Juugo. I wrote about how interesting I think their relationship is more times like here and here but the high esteem Sasuke holds for Juugo, and the loyalty, protectiveness and respect Juugo has for Sasuke imo are amazing. And the ‘I’ll be your cage’ Sasuke told him is darkfic material. And it’s canon. (juusasu tag)

Obito. His interaction and relationship with Sasuke were so interesting in canon, so ambiguous, so promising. Because they did spend time together, and they were both Uchiha. And Obito knew things but Sasuke didn’t. And Obito called Sasuke ‘fellow traitor’ before being taken over by Madara...I did start something I never finished about them tbh. (obisasu tag and meta)

Deidara. Not many realize that despite his loud/bragging attitude Deidara has a low self esteem and he looks up to Itachi whom he tried to impress. Like Sasuke, in a way. And both are reckless when it comes to not caring what happens to themselves. They are opposite but they also have these in common...And, aeshtetically, Deidara is blond, like N*ruto but hotter lol. I kinda like to imagine an Akatsuki AU where Sasuke is in a team with Itachi but also he has interactions with the other members and Deidara is basically his same age but he’s more experienced and they have some rivalry going on.

Shikamaru. I kinda think it would be interesting to put a clever and aloof lukewarm lazy guy whose loyalty towards Konoha is strong, close to an equally clever and aloof guy but very passionate inside, whose loyalty comes from his own feelings and thoughts and personal values instead. It has potential for good interactions, meaningful discussions and ambiguous moments since Shikamaru can control shadow and tie people up, and is very ruthless when he wants. Darkfic potential.

In that post I also mentioned Gaara, Sai and others so I won’t repeat myself more.

The only character not related to Sasuke is Tobirama. I disagree with his values and ideas but he’s interesting in his controversial way imo. Such a strict character yet so open minded when it came to develop forbidden jutsu, even defying death with Edo Tensei. So apparently domineering but so loyal to his older brother. I am kinda interested in some angsty dark scenario with Hashirama and I kinda had an idea I never developed.

Like I said here even tho I have less new ideas it’s not like I don’t have any, but I don’t have much motivation to write so I play my scenarios in my head.

Also, mostly, because I like darkfics but ppl like ‘wholesome’ and tbh I’ve had enough of fandom police shitting on my work just like I’ve had enough of judgemental condescendence like ‘you write well but your fics are too dark for me’.

(or being tagged in some gorey fics bc creeps like Hawk must be into all kinds of creepy things even tho I’ve always said I’m not into that specific stuff lol)

😐 What embarrasses you most about your own writing?

the old bits

no but in all seriousness--while the old bits are very embarrassing for me, i've gotta say nothing is worse than when i'm reading back something i've long since posted on ao3 and gotten comments on and everyone has seen it and seeing typos. a repeated word. a missed " where there should be a ". i don't usually have people beta my fics, that's something i've recently started doing bcos i used to be terrified of concrit, and i'm still nervous about it but i'll weather it to improve the quality of my fic.

🧠 What’s an idea you have that you can’t quite call a WIP yet?

shikasasu ship fic, mostly to see if i could write it. the only thing my brain is giving me is "fist fight, then kiss" and that's like. it. so i'm just gonna keep furiously rotating it in my brain till i get something!!

Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased? Not something I think about, but I don't think KakaSasu is that popular so I wonder what you think about this one. (Also waves in ShikaSasu potential which I see in my head but nowhere else sobsob)

No, it's weird to think not shipping a popular thing means you're in denial or biased. I know what is canon, I just don't like it. It's like saying well the most popular sport in the world is soccer so if you don't like it you are in denial or biased. Doesn't make sense.

For the second one...depends what is meant by pure, I guess. Pure love? Pure as is no "problematic" things? I can't really think of much in Naruto...maaaaayyyybeee MinaKushi? There's just so many ships, like people ship KibaHina I guess that could be pure? AsumaKurenai? You can find something "not pure" in every ship probably. I think of SNS as pure in some contexts, it's obsessive and intense and can be "problematic" but it's also pure feeling/emotion if that's what we mean. But they're not always wholesome, healthy, etc. But yeah, depends on what pure is. To me personally it's not something I think about at all because it's not something I need my ships to be.

I don't care if people ship crack ships, people ship just because they like the colours characters have sometimes. It's whatever, personally I can't get into ships with no basis to them though - there has to be some potential for deeper connection and sure people can say anything has potential but I like some canonical history too.

I think the most shippable character is 100% Kakashi. The man is shipped left, right, centre, upside down and inside out. I don't think he has chemistry with everyone but I think his personality and how interwoven his story is with the overall and other characters makes it so there are lots of opportunities to weave him in. I also think people just love Kakashi and so they like to write about him, imagine him as a partner, etc.

shikasasunaru wld genuinely be such a good relationship for all 3 of them.

like sasuke and naruto have so much fuck shit and have a ton of responsibility placed upon them, especially when naruto becomes hokage. shikamaru wld do a really good job of providing them both stability and a bit of reason if they get too caught up in their own head and naruto and sasuke wld appreciate him so much for that

itd also b really nice for sasuke and shikamaru to have each other as someone more calm bc as understanding and loving as naruto is, sometimes his enthusiasm to help and comfort them can get exhausting, so to have someone to lean on thats more chill about it and gets when they just wants to b quiet wld b really nice for them

and being around these 2 insane overachievers would keep pushing shikamaru to be better but i think sasuke would also be able to see when shikamaru is pushing himself too hard and be able to tell him to take a break and let himself rest because as much as shikamaru puts on the "i dont wanna work too much" act, once he has work in front of him he has trouble not doing it

i didnt think abt this too hard but i just think they fill in the gaps each other have so well and wld be so sweet together

— coffee. sasuke’s a damn insomniac, and he can’t sleep because of nightmares. so he drinks a lot of coffee to stay awake. 

— shikamaru just sighs when he sees a very tired sasuke sitting against the front door, eyes half-lidded and slumped against the door because he’s so sleepy but he can’t fucking sleep. 

— “did you sleep?” “no....but do i care? also no...” 

— sasuke is a goddamn heater because of his fire affinity and uchiha genes, which is helpful because shikamaru's gets cold easy.

— sasuke blends so perfectly with the shadows, people don’t even notice him there. shikamaru has always sensed the shadows, so whenever sasuke is there, he knows. so if they’re in missions, he’d purposefully drape the shadows over the uchiha, who gets startled, much to his amusement. he’d pull them away if they call him though, because sasuke will not willingly show himself if he’s stubborn enough.

— sasuke has this thin but durable, deer-skin bracelet that has a little emerald gem, while shikamaru has this steel chain bracelet that has a blue hue to it. ugh it’s adorable. 

— sasuke likes placing marigolds like a crown on shikamaru’s hair, placing leaves or vines because it looks good against his dark brown hair. he would place white or royal green ribbons as the hair ties, because it compliments shikamaru’s hair well. while shikamaru tucks cornflowers, or amaryllis because it looks good with sasuke’s clothing. or just weaves trailing bellflowers in his braids.

Shikamaru stared at his dinner companion, utter disbelief oozing from every scowl line. "And just what am I supposed to have done, Sasuke?"

The other man narrowed his eyes at him. "You know what you did."

"I really, really don't. Enlighten me."

Sasuke scoffed lightly. "Your kid's exhibition match at the Academy. No one is ever going to forget it, because his father snored like a log through the whole thing!"

"At least I show up to important events in my kid's life!" Shikamaru returned, hitting the table with the palm of his hand. It wasn't hard enough to be called a proper slam, but the silverware clinked softly and ripples spread through their water glasses.

"You did not just go there," hissed Sasuke.

"I think I just did. What are you going to do about it?"

Sitting across from the feuding pair, the children in question shot each other a silent look.

"Why are they always like this?" mumbled Shikadai. "You'd think they get tired of it eventually..." Letting out a yawn, he tacked on, "I sure have."

Sarada buried her face in her hands. "They're causing a scene... this is so embarrassing..."

"You would think that supposedly elite shinobi would have noticed that by now."

"Can you divorce your parents?" Sarada wondered aloud.

"Yes!" a voice behind her shouted.

Sarada's hands slipped from her face, and the pair watched in surprise as a blond head popped up on the other side of the restaurant booth.

Boruto looked at them with pity in his eyes, but he nodded understandingly. "It's called Emancipation and I even have copies of the paperwork if you need it."

Before Sarada or Shikadai could respond, the dulcet tones of a woman rose from Boruto side of the barricade. "And why do you have that, Boruto?"

Paling considerably, Boruto began to slide down the booth. "N-no reason, Aunt Hanabi!" Before he disappeared completely from sight, he whispered back to his friends, "If you're serious about this, come and find me later!! I'll have it ready for you!"

The stepsiblings blinked slowly, not sure how to process what Boruto had just offered. But a glance at their fathers - their previous argument now forgotten, but holding hands and talking quietly to each other - convinced them both to slide out of their booth and depart the restaurant immediately.

"What to come to my mom's house with me? She's a pretty good cook," Sarada offered.

Shikadai nodded. "And they won't bug us there for a while, good thinking." Shoving his hands in his pockets, he heaved a heavy sigh. "They're such a drag."

"You said it."
