I was wondering what your thoughts were on atsushi? Like just. Who he is ig

I actually really like Atsushi. I like his character and how his anxiety and trauma is depicted.

The thing about bsd is the way the story never waters down the trauma the characters have. Atsushi in particular, especially considering he is the protagonist, is shown to have extensive symptoms and side of effects of what has been done to him. He's also shown to have signs of him working past that trauma, with the headmaster's death and the way his hallucinations (???) change. He also seems to be working through his anxieties and is growing more confident and self assured.

He is such a kind character. Like he isn't particularly nice, he has a mouth on him, and he's pretty mean to Akutagawa when the occasion calls for it. But he's kind. His heart is kind and he genuinely wants to save and protect people. It's refreshing in a character.

His relationships with the other characters are interesting and well developed. He can see the best in people and wants to nurture the light he sees there. He was wounded and he can see the wounds in others and desperately wants them to find the peace he has.

I personally like him as a main character. I find him endearing. I want his story to have a happy ending.

And I hate it so much when people call him 'whiney' or say shit like 'character xyz would make a better mc'. He's an incredibly well rounded character and I am quite fond of him.
