@shinfuransan LOL! So I had an idea about a Vergil x Reader short story last night and I was snickering wrapped in my covers over it. Based of this artwork piece by @Jo_Ngoc_Hang, and inspired off of a comic about a Haircut by @gzeidraws

It was quiet in the Sparda apartment. I gulped down the last of my drink, and took in the rare peaceful vibe of the house, contrary to the twins Dante and Vergil fighting nearly all of the time.

Seems like that moment wasn't going to last, as a certain low growl of a "Dantteee!" blared from under the space of my door.

"Here we go again." I sighed.

I had to get up anyways, to put the cup in the sink, or at least due to Vergil's strict rules in the household.

Dante's nervous laugh in the background, followed by a "It doesn't look bad on you though, cut me some slack bro!" made me stop halfway down the stairs to listen.

"Liar. Don't you dare say that when I look like this!" Vergil spat back.

Was it another prank? It had to be, the growl coming from the living room sounded like the same one from the bathroom when Dante snuck glue on Vergil's right glove, the one he used to slick his hair back. Needless to say, Vergil's comeback for Dante making him rip out some of his hair was way worse, with Dante stepping out of the bathroom with a shaven head and an ashamed, sad look. It took a long while for his hair to grow back, and he never did that prank again.

I took a small breath, and walked into the living room, bracing myself to see a broken TV, possibly books or tables thrown everywhere. That's why Nero bought cheap furniture in the first place. A smirk crept on to my face at him having to separate the men-children many times and scold them like he was their father.

I opened my eyes, and there was Dante, backing up with his hands in the air for protest. Then I looked over to Vergil, and stopped completely.

His hair was in many small ponytails, and another growl was coming from him as the mirror he held was cracking under his grip. Just the sight of it shocked me, my jaw felt like it was a hundred pounds, ready to drop. Vergil had barely changed his hairstyles throughout the years I been with him as a roommate, besides from the identical drop of hair around his chin like his brother's, so this was definitely something new.

"Dante?" I choked out.

Dante and Vergil turned to me, with the younger twin's eyes full of relief while the older twin's had a look of morbid surprise. Looks like Vergil didn't want me to see this. I did have to admit, seeing his hair like that was just absurd. It was so absurd, that a familiar feeling in my chest rose up to my throat as I bit my cheek from the inside to contain my smile. You can't laugh now, I chided myself in my head, Not right here. Vergil's gonna kill you if you do. I could feel that devil's eyes scanning me for a reaction. I took a deep breath in, and furrowed my eyebrows to set a different demeanor, a rather different face from the one I was holding back, pursed lips relaxing into a frown.

"Dante, hold on," I raised a hand up and gestured at Vergil, "The hell did you do?

Dante gave me a cheeky smile, and shrugged.

"Well, um...I was trying new hairstyles on Verge here, seems like he didn't like this one."

He let out a few wobbly chuckles, and then sighed. It was clear that at that moment, he knew he messed up and that there was no way of escaping the violent stabbing that his brother was planning.

"Like HELL YOU knew I didn't." Vergil snapped, whipping his head from me to his brother. Taking a step forward, he grabbed and unsheathed his katana in less than a second, the action immediately wiping the smile off of Dante's face and replacing it with a face of fear.

"You think to make a fool of me, Dante?"

"Vergil, calm down, I swear I didn't mean to!"

"Shit." I whispered.

The smile was getting harder to control, and the fake coughs to hide the small wheezing kept on getting Vergil's attention instead of the opposite. At this point, I was fighting to keep a serious demeanor, or else the consequences Vergil had set in mind for Dante would be set on me, too. I dragged a hand over my face, and made a groan of disappointment.

"Dante, oh my god you idiot. You knew what you were doing-!"

My mouth slipped, and exposed my amusement, too late for me to cover myself . When I had realized that, I glanced up. Vergil's smile of satisfaction at me scolding his brother turned to a deadly glare as he began a speed walk to me. My eyes widened, and I ran to the other side of the couch.

"WAIT-No no no no NO! Vergil, I swear that wasn't a laugh! I SWEAR! STOP! PLEASE!"

When I had tried to run in a circle, Vergil had followed my direction , also going to the right when I did. It became a deadly game of ring around the couch, with an angry yet some how cute? hair in many ponytails man chasing me as he plotted my demise from the other side.

"Yeah right." A grin spread across his lips, but it was one of a malicious intent. I couldn't help but let out another laugh again, followed by a short scream when he took the chance to grab me. It repeated, and I yelled for Dante. If I tried to run away, he would just catch up, and at any moment, I was bound to give up from how much laughing made my sides hurt.

"DANTE! Help me! Please-VERGIL NO!" I shrieked, which turned to laughter, then an alarmed yelp as he managed to get closer again.

Dante responded with chortles of laughter back, and in my head, I made a vow to get back at him.

The loss of Toriyama-Sensei hit me hard. I cried the evening I heard the news, like losing a family member, even though I never had the honor in meeting him.

Like every other artist, his influence is astronomical. DBZ was the highlight of my day as I got back from school and dropped in front of the TV to watch the next episode with hype, to then talk about it at school with my friends. We would scream our lungs out with the power levels and try to do the Fusion dance, which was hard to do btw. Being a girl liking DBZ wasn’t weird, even by that time, although I was the only girl at school who loved anime. 😂

I remember watching Rebirth of Fusion over and over as a friend gave me a VHS copy (since that was hard to get anime stuff back in the 90’s unlike today). I watched it so much I didn’t need to read the wonky yellow subtitles and I could tell the movie word by word in Japanese. I would NEVER imagine watching Dragon Ball on the big screen, that movie was Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

I grew up with DBZ in Spanish, English and Japanese. I know the songs in three languages. It’s insane to me the amount of figures that I own of Dragon Ball. Mainly Vegita and Broly. I gotta get me a SSG Gojita now.

I haven’t drawn DBZ style since junior-high. I hope I made you proud Sensei! 🙏🏼
