While im not all too big on Charizard and my favourite Mega isn't even one of the starter Megas

Charizard Y should've been the only Mega Charizard.

For one it honestly looks more like a Mega Charizard than X does (X looks like a mix between a charizard, a hawlucha and a shiny ponyta.) and Y's shiny looks more like regular charizard's shiny.

Sure it's still 4x weak to rock but in my experience with Pokémon Y the game has nowhere near enough actually powerful rock types as frequent encounters to really pose a threat to a Mega Charizard and by the time you're challenging the rock gym you have access to an in-game Steelix trade (Thumper my beloved early game menace to society) not a Mega Charizard.

It kinda makes up for that by RESISTING Fairy moves instead of taking neutral damage like X. (Also one of it's STAB typings isn't completely useless against Fairy) X still has a better typing for neutral & resisted but it does lose ground immunity WHILE Y KEPT IT

I'd still probably use Talonflame over Mega Y but I'd also use Mega & Non-Mega Garchomp over Mega X.

However! I do actually prefer drought (Mega Y's ability) over tough claws (Mega X's ability) and if i had to pick based on ability it would still be Mega Y.

Mega Charizard X is in basically the same boat as Gmax Charizard where it was just supposed to be that Gen 1/Charizard pandering and slapped over all the promotional material, the fuckin original anime, memes about Charizard pandering etc.

Very glad that alola DID NOT give charizard (or the other Gen 1 starters) special Z-moves because honestly I dont like the pandering and Incineroar would've just found ways to render them useless because it's Incineroar and Incineroar has access to Flying, Electric, Dragon AND Ground moves.

There was this leak just over half a year ago and it was on April Fools but it seems like there was a tiny bit that was correct (rest of the post under cut)

It sounds like the bit that’s true is Pikachu (of all Pokémon) getting a special Tera form and I was thinking, what if all Unrivaled Pokémon get the special Tera forms? Only thing is I only seem to have a decent idea for the two Decidueye (and even then I’m not 100% sure about Hisuian Decidueye)

Dragon Tera type Charizard: longer tail, slightly bigger, more infernal wings, fire comes from its mouth like Mega X and GMax

Fighting Tera type Cinderace: Best I can do is you know Puss in Boots? Get ready for Bnuuy in Boots

Poison Tera type Greninja: longer toungue? If in doubt, if they have a long tail or similar, extend that

Water Tera type Pikachu: the current theory in the leak community is we’re getting another surfing Pikachu

Flying Tera type Alolan Decidueye: big wings which don’t flap (similar to Mega Charizard X and GMax Corviknight). Never touches the ground

Bug Tera type Unovan Samurott: bigger horn idk. Maybe more horns. Maybe butterfly wings? Idk, that probably wouldn’t go

Ghost Tera type Johtonian Typhlosion: idk, probably just turn it into Hisuian Typhlosion but angy (this is why they should all wear masquerade masks)

Ice Tera type Inteleon: longer tail, bigger head crest

Rock Tera type Chesnaught: thicker shell, more spikes (less probably makes more sense but the spikes are iconic. This is actually what’s stopping me from removing Inteleon’s tail as well), probably goes without saying but make it browner (like closer to its shiny form)

Fairy Tera type Delphox: FAIRY WINGS! Maybe make the leg (and probably also arm) fur more floaty

Normal Tera type Rillaboom: idk probably bushier hair? Bigger drums? Honestly the Tera types of the Galar starters are in three completely different leagues and Rillaboom was the one done most dirty (I’m fine with Eevee having it and think that makes perfect sense but I’m still not fine with my drummer baby having it IT SHOULD’VE BEEN STEEL!)

Psychic Tera type Mewtwo: longer tail, sort of a fluffy version of the Mewtwo outfit from GO, floating energy stuff

Grass Tera type Hisuian Decidueye: more leaves in the wings, hat and legs! Give it chest hair comprised of leaves!

Fire Tera type Hisuian Typhlosion: idk, probably just turn it into Johtonian Typhlosion but chill (this is why they should all wear masquerade masks)

Normal Tera type Eevee: Eevee but floofier

Water Tera type Hisuian Samurott: make the moustache floatier (and more I just can’t think of anything else)

Laurel's pokemon team

I've been thinking about Laurel's potential team members. I'll give my reasoning behind giving her these mons in the brackets.

Shiny Boltund (partner pokemon and also in honour of her mother's Yamper)

Dragapult (she adored her father's Dragapult, so she wanted to get one for herself)

Gmax Blastoise (she wants to defeat her father's Charizard at the Battle Tower)

Metagross (represents her brains and brawn)

Midday Lycanroc (she loves canine pokemon)

Tsareena (a reference to one of Sonia's sync pair in masters)

#1 Charizard

I know. I know. Real basic pick. But I can’t help it. I love this lizard. And many people do too for good reason. It’s part of the original starters and the best one I think. So it’s been the first Pokémon for many people. It’s been with me since the beginning of Pokémon so it’s hard to not have that strong attachment and nostalgia tied to it. I would always imagine myself riding through Kanto on my Charizard and battling our hearts out. Starters always pull on my heart strings. Charizard is my first ever but also just my favorite. He looks so powerful in its final form and something about imagining flying with him makes me really happy. He’s a really fun take on a dragon and I love that. The anime also highlighted him so well. Loved ash’s journey with him so it was hard not to have that affect me too. Also the shiny?! Perfection.

Charmander is so cute!! Simple yes, but I honestly wouldn’t change it. I love that he’s just a lizard with a flaming tale. Charmander actually looks quite dinosaur to me. Especially in older art. Charmeleon is solid. I like that he’s red out of nowhere and he just seems so grumpy and angry. Now let’s talk megas. I honestly don’t like that he has two… it kinda seems weird. I don’t like that kind of special treatment. That being said though… I love them! The X one is so sick. I mean black Charizard with blue flames? And then a dragon typing too?! Cmon!! That’s the stuff of my childhood dreams! But it would be weird if that was his only mega so I get the existence of Y, which is solid in its own right! Gmax charizard is good too. I don’t especially love it but it’s good! I think the white belly just throws me off, idk.

No matter how “overhyped” or “overrated” Charizard is, it’s hard to deny that he is loved my many. He’s such a great starter design and one that hasn’t been topped yet for me anyway. When I think of Pokémon it is impossible for me to not think of Charizard. From toys to games to cards, I wanted this guy in every form. I have so many memories circulating this lizard that it really is hard to knock him from the top spot. Love love love my Charizard.

I forgot that you have to body Chairman Rose and then deal with the POISON DRAGON "legendary" .

Yo, lemme take a step back and appreciate the fact that Rose is a steel specialist. It was an unfair fight for sure, but i love team composition and ACTUALLY sticking to a type (fuck you Raihan).

I have a couple screenshots of the team on my switch, but they're weirdly hard to see? And holy shit Washington (flapple) is TINY!

I forgot how nasty leon's team is. Its not crazy like Cynthia's, but mad respect.

I actually didnt dynamax any of my reptiles against him, and only took his aegislash seriously. The rest of the battle, until his gmax charizard, i cheesed with Toast (who is a MONSTER). I HAD to bring in Moka for ace vs. Ace.

I mean, it doesnt hurt that my whole ass team was almost at level 70 (with my ace being at 73), but cutscenes aside, i had a decent enough time crushing this game as a proper dragon specialist.

I also went on a journey to the isle of armor and i have to train a kubfu (ugh). This is the only non-dragon that will EVER be on the team, only because of story reasons.

I honestly thought Avery was either non-binary, or female. But, hey who knows, he might be trans. 🤷 regardless, he is a piece of shit.

Honey is honestly the best character of this dlc, fight me.

Im rambling now, shocker, but ill update you all with any cool stuff that happens.

I wonder what my first full odds shiny is going to be?

I got a shiny tyranitar on my original playthrough, and then it took me until crown tundra to get a female nidoran on my first wonderlocke (i boxed it IMMEDIATELY).

I will lose my mind if my first full odds shiny is a dragon type.

Ps. I am an idiot and havent been showing Zippo the Duralidon as gmax. Which he most definitely is. So that has been corrected.

A caught a boy shiny gmax charizard too with its HA solar power and it’s a star shiny. I caught it in a luxury ball and it’s absolutely perfect for Jonathan, the OG JoJo. I mean, “Solar Power” is a direct reference to Hamon technique lol since the harsh sunlight powers up his attacks. aaaaaaa I caught him and now he’s sitting right next to his wife Erina, a shiny gmax girlzard who shines with squares. I wish we could dress up Pokemon in this gen because I’d have him wear a little bowtie and she would wear a bow around one of her horns.

I remember really wanting a gmax charizard (i didn't know you just got gifted one post game yet lmao) and i was also searching for the other starters (the dlc had like, JUST been released) so i was searching a lot for these starters and once i found a charizard one i IMMEDIATELY JOINED and i saw it was shiny

On the outside i was like "woah cool a shiny" but on the inside? I WAS FREAKING THE HELL OUT I WAS SO EXCITED.

That was my first shiny.

(I used my master ball on that fucker i was NOT ready to lose that dude)

I named it after myself lmao
