[video description: a 3ds playing pokemon black. The player character runs back and forth in a grass patch until they encounter a shiny tornadus. End description.]
Still can’t believe this and thundurus were two of the first shiny hunts I ever set up and they both took 3 years of on and off work to finally shine.

I'm sure everyone who cares already knows this/doesn't need it by now but since I only Just discovered it halfway through bc no one told me fucking otherwise:
when dealing with Tornadus and his gaggle of brutes, you can still sneak up on them in smoke bombs. If you toss a pokemon at them up close from one like 2-3 times in rapid succession, it somehow knocks them for a loop and engages you in battle

[ID: Two images of shiny pokemon. On the left is original color magearna who is silver and black. On the right is tornadus who is a lighter green and darker purple. End ID]
Munday (character edition): For you, which one of your characters will look better in shiny colors? (Because your characters are mostly gijinkas, I rephrasing this question differently)
Ok so, I adore reshiram’s shiny and would love to do a serious piece of reshi as shiny one day LOL the gold and pink just works so well imo I adore it so hard
Zapdos…………would not change…..sorry bb LOL
Tornadus also wouldn’t change much, but I do like the darker blues, I think they would look really good on him instead of the purples? But that’s just me haha.
Palkia would look pretty cute, I love the pinker hues she would get and it’d look really awesome me thinks! Remind me of strawberry milk lool.
Giratina I think would be the winner though. He would get SUCH a drastic shift and the blues would just make him really POP. I adore Giratina’s shiny alot and would love to use it for him one day.
So in short! Reshi and Giratina would look the best, with Palkia and Tor as the runner ups and Zapdos in last place.

Since Enamorus was reviewed, how about the rest of the Legendary genies? Both Incarnate and Therian forms.
On the one hand, the genies are kind of neat. I like the way the lower body is effectively just a cloud they fly around on, and the tails looking around is also neat. It’s also a pretty distinctive look that stands out from other Pokemon and other legendaries in general.
However, I do think the Incarnate forms suffer from being too similar to each other. They’re by no means the same—hair, mustache, horns and tails are all different—but they’re still somewhat interchangeable. I mentioned this in my Lake Trio review, but I feel like a good set of “matching” legendaries should be like the beasts or birds; same kind of idea, but no visual similarities at all. Stuff like different body shapes, different cloud placements, body markings, and whether or not they have horns could all be much more varied than they actually are.
(Enamorus actually does have a different body shape... but unfortunately it just makes her stand out from the other three because they all have the same body shape, and it carries a “woman can’t have muscles” thing that I simply don’t care for. Right idea, wrong execution. But I digress.)
For the record, out of these three, I think Landorus is the best. Thundurus is the worst looking visually, with its strange tail, hair, and silly single horn. Tornadus is actually the nicest designed of the three... but the colors are really terrible. The green and the purple are the same brightness, making it feel muddy. (The lighter green of the shiny is slightly better in this respect.)
Supposedly it was going to be red at one point, to form a red/blue oni thing with Thundurus:
This would also make sense because it’s based on the “vermilion bird” from the Chinese Four Symbols. And if red wouldn’t work, I could easy see it being blue (a windy color) and Thundurus being yellow, to reflect lighting and its electric-typing.
While the lore reason behind them is a bit questionable, they at get a bit more unique with their therian forms. Tornadus' is kind of neat looking; a big bird, but with a unique tail, horns, and almost lizard-ish legs. However, the colors are still kind of gross, not helped by the obnoxious red gem (I guess it's meant to call back to the vermillion bird thing, but it still doesn't exactly Look Good).
Thundurus is interesting because it's not a normal animal. I can't even really say it's a normal dragon either, with the long mace tail, cloud-covered hands, incredibly tiny legs and lower body, and giant jaw. I don't know if I'd say it's "good"—the hair looks out of place, the proportions are weird, and the markings clutter it—but it's probably the most interesting of the three Therian forms.
And Landorus, scourge of the competitive scene, is pretty decent. The markings are repetitive enough that they don't feel cluttered (even though I don't think you needed all of them), and the colors are still perfectly pleasant. Also, the official art for this one is weirdly good, with a great expression and a downward angle very rarely used in official art like this.
So overall, the incarnate forms would be neat individually, but having three of them makes them stand out less. In this respect, the therian forms are more unique, but lose some of the unique genie-ness of the incarnate forms. Landorus is probably the best of the three in both forms, with Thundurus being a bit messy and Tornadus having a muddy color palette. There's good stuff here, but it could've been executed a bit more straightforwardly.
