I have high hopes for this manga, and want to paint a picture of what to expect for those who also want to get into it♡

Let’s start Character Designs

We’re only one chapter in so far, so we’ve only met the main two boys, Terasu and Hibaru (left to right).

Terasu Yotsurugi - 12th Son

Loving Terasu’s take-no-shit personality so far. Simultaneously, he seems very kind and loyal to Hibaru’s ideals.

Terasu is giving Ryusei/Chifuyu lovechild.

Hibaru Yotsurugi - only Biological Son

I love Hibaru’s chivalrous/“old-fashion” ideology. He may seem ‘generic shonen protagonist’ right now, but i don’t care. I will appreciate him.

Hibaru is giving Mikey/Takemitchi lovechild.

As for our blue eyes beauty over here, we have yet to see her yet. She seems very cute though.

Story Direction and Expectations

I trust Wakui. The way he explores his stories is through character bonds and personal ideals.

This is one of the reasons why I grew so fond of Tokyo Revengers.

Plus… it’s Found-Family Gang activity. It’s my soft spot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I would say Yakuza but I want to be respectful in how I throw that word around, so I’ll avoid it for now if I can.

The supernatural powers that get involved will surely lead to a type of succession war between the siblings.

“What it means to be strong” will probably be the fundamental lesson of the story.

I am so excited to see how Negai no Astro will progress!

Spoilers for Happy Sugar Life

Ok so I just finished watching Happy Sugar Life and it was really good! I love how the show frames Satou sometimes as like a motherly figure to Shio and it almost makes you forget that not only did she kidnap her but she loves her, in the sense she is willing to kill for a child. I also love how the show does not glorify or romanticize this dilemma, which is always nice to see.

I also liked how the show shows that basically nobody other than Shio and maybe Shoko is at least morally questionable if not without morals. Example:

Satou- pedophile

Satou's teacher- pedophile + stalks Satou

Satou's 2nd job manager- pedophile

Taiyo- pedophile

Satou's aunt- pedophile + pedophile defender over Satou

Asahi- treats Taiyo very poorly(note: while this is justified from our pov, he doesn't know that Taiyo lusts over his sister, Shio)

Satou's coworker whose in love with her- Just kind of obsessive over her

Shio's dad- abusive

Shio's mom- abandoned Shio(granted, that was so she didn't hit her again after the first time but still morally questionable)

Anyways I like how in this world it's hard to find anybody who is any shade of good morality because it makes sense why some characters are the way they are.

For example, Taiyo.

Taiyo originally was an ordinary guy living an ordinary life, working along Satou. He confessed to her but she said she had already found her love[Shio]. Once she did, the manager decided to sexually assault/rape him.

As a result, he feels incredibly dirty from her perversion of his body. Unfornately, this leads him into seeking some kind of purity from the dirtiness he feels, which comes in the form of lusting after Shio, likely because kids are seen as innocent. It's just a really fucked situation with him because obviously I don't condone his actions, God to the hell no, but it's hard not to feel bad for him because I know that a lot of sexual assault victims feel dirty after being sexually assaulted. It's kind of like a Clay Puppington situation, I feel bad for the trauma they endured but that doesn't give them an excuse to pass that trauma along to an unsuspecting child, yknow?

Sorry if this is random I just wanted to talk about this show.

Also p.s

I hate people who ship Shio and Satou so much. Like I get why of course but like you're missing the point? It's a horror? It's not a romance?? The entire point is to show how fucked the situations happening are and to make you uncomfortable? It's not supposed to be "aww such a cutesty relationship between a 17 year old and an 8 year old CHILD"??(I say 8 but Shio could be a little younger/older but still) It's like the same situation with killing stalking(I haven't read it but I have heard about it).

But yea this is kind out of left field I know but I don't know the situation with Taiyo really left me curious, especially since it's hard to watch hin get triggers from his trauma(ex: an older woman touched his shoulder and he got flashbacks) to the juxtaposition of him lusting after a child. And it doesn't help him that Satou's aunt later did the same thing to him.
