the way their relationship is literally a retcon meant to chain dick and barbara to the batman world

the way this ship does a huge disservice to BOTH of the characters and significantly harms their individual character growth and development while restricting them

THE WAY THEY AGED BARBARA DOWN LIKE 6 YEARS ONLY TO GET HER WITH GRAYSON ????😭THE WAY SHE WAS NEVER EVEN INTERESTED IN HIM ??? because he was too young and she absolutely did not see him in a romantic way

the way this ship is favored by the writers and constantly used to put down and invalidate other love interests for dick and mainly my girl kori/starfire...

tldr: FREE BARBARA AND DICK !!!😭🙏🏼free them from this misery and stop mistreating kori

It's odd how people will not like a Bat ship and say that it's not their thing cause they act more like "siblings" um sorry but the only siblings there are IS the Bat boys(I'm only counting ones I know-which is the four boys & Terry(?)- if you know other members that are actually siblings too add on I'm still learning on everyone) you don't have to like certain popular ships just because the fandom likes it it's not suppose to work like this especially to ships as in the early runs of the comics of the Bat ships as far as I know Stephanie and Barbara are NOT legally part of the bat clan as siblings even if to the point of the writers reversing their relationships of the boys the girls maybe tied by name but they aren't unlike the four boys (as far as I know with Steph I'm still new to her) just because people don't like the ships shouldn't put down others for liking outside popular ships and that is literally gatekeeping the fandom

Sorry for this randomly but I'm tired of people hating on the females of this family because two of them especially Barbara dated (is dating) the Robins or in general

This is actually such an good question.

I think what you're actually asking is that if I would or do generally block people who ship Dickbabs and the answer is No. They weren't raised or are treated as siblings in the source material nor were ever referred by each other or by other people as such. So no dickbabs shippers are fine, I won't block them nor do I count as batcest.

Now if you're asking me personally, If I find the vibe around them weird, as someone who was also raised with the children of my parents' friends who pretty much lived in my house (yes like Dick and Babs) the answer is yes. Yes I do find it weird.

#I am getting to Dick comics to see if I change my mind but until now no unfortunately I still not vibe with this ship #nothing against who ship it people can do whatever they want #also I have other personal problems with dickbabs as a ship that isn't at all related at this #like how they de aged barbara and keep nerfing her for dick sake #but this is a whole rant for another time and there's way more qualified people on tumblr to talk about that

oh shit i must've not seen it. here we are:

Believe it or not, I actually used to like this ship!!! Their first go around at a relationship was fine! Not amazing and it had issues but it had its cute moments! But there was the retconning. Oh, was there retconning. They had to age Barbara down just to make the relationship even possible, since she was in Congress when Dick was still a teenager. And then it got worse. Suddenly Barbara was Dick’s first crush/love. Suddenly all of his other relationships were explicitly inferior and his awesome longterm ex is being villified and shit talked and dismissed as a fling in-text. They broke up and stayed broken up for over a decade. Then suddenly Barbara had use of her legs back and was out of her wheelchair, and it was like every character spent a few years going “oh those two belong together!!” Without any of the stories ever demonstrating WHY. Then they suddenly got back together (after having Dick break up with yet another cool love interest!!!!) and immediately became characters I did not and do not recognize. Babs became a girlboss (derogatory) and Dick became a himbo (derogatory) and I hate it so so so so much it makes me so angry I can’t even keep talking about this I need to go before I explode
