You’ve got a lot of dog!Desmond covered and you’ve got a catboy nonny in the walls….. sooooooo….. just popped in my head….. dogboy!Desmond?

I was thinking of how different Dogboy Desmond would be to Catboy Desmond and I realize what the problem was…

I wrote Catboy Desmond to be adorable and sweet, with maybe a bit of touchstarved Desmond sprinkled in between. This meant that an adorable and loyal Dogboy Desmond would just seem like a similar take so I would like to present an alternative.

Dogboy Desmond… but he has the instinct of a guardian dog.

And he sees Assassins as his ‘herd’.

Altaïr? He’s getting herded so he’d stop ignoring his hunger to finish his current research. Malik is his best friend and it’s normal to see the mentor being pushed around to the dining hall and being glared at until he ate everything in his plate.

Ezio? Ezio’s fine. He can take care of himself (although there will be nights when he and Desmond would just silently relax near the fire). His recruits though… they’re getting herded. Sometimes, Ezio had to stop Desmond from taking them back to their headquarters because “They’re tired, yes, but they can do this. Desmond-” (growl) “Listen to me, Desmond. There will come a time when they must continue even when they’re tired. The only way they can have an idea of what to do and not to do is for them to experience it in a safe-” (growling intensify) “Desmond, please, please just… this is the last lesson for today. I promise.”

Ratonhnhaké:ton? Achilles is getting lots of growls and might even get bitten because Desmond likes to herd Ratonhnhaké:ton back to the manor when he was young. He also herds the kids of the homestead while he’s there with Ratonhnhaké:ton. Strangely enough, he tries to herd Haytham at first but then just starts glaring and growling at him after he got into an argument with Ratonhnhaké:ton.

Edward makes him to shipcat as usual. Adéwalé gets a headache as usual. Strangely enough, Desmond does no herd any of the crew other than Edward and Adéwalé. Edward realized that ‘James Kidd’ is an Assassin because Desmond likes to herd him.

Shay? Oh boy. All of Achilles’ Assassins are being herded. No exception. Shay actually think this is some kind of weird Assassin thing. Liam told him to just go along with it. Desmond stayed with Shay after Lisbon and stopped him from leaving his room until he calmed down. Whether that affects Shay enough for him to try and talk to Achilles once more or if he’ll go with his canon path is up to you. Regardless, Desmond will stay with the Assassins though.

Arno is getting herded by Desmond who happened to be a dogboy that’s staying with the Brotherhood. Bellec tells him he’s been there longer than any of the Assassins alive and he… likes to take care of ‘brats’. Arno is herded with the other ‘newer’ Assassins and the herding (taking care of them) help him form some kind of camaraderie with them (aka: I am still pushing my ‘the Assassins in the Unity trailer should actually be characters that are friends with Arno’ agenda)

Let’s be honest… Jacob, Evie and Jayadeep are all getting herded. Desmond is less of a guardian dog here and more of the ‘father that stepped up’ type. They’re getting herded and taken care of. There is no escape.

i want a horror movie where the killer or demon or whatever leaves one of those super menacing messages for their victim, except the victim just straight up misses it. like you’re next written menacingly in blood on the wall, but the victim is just reading texts off of their phone and doesnt see it

Oh oh oh oh catboy nonny here! My brain just came up with something.

This is much closer to an actual ship cat than Edward’s tried in some asks in the past! What would Ade think of this?!

(For those wondering about this, a running joke here in my tumblr is that, no matter what creature or animal Desmond gets transformed into, Edward would always pick him up and tell the crew that he’s the shipcat, mostly because Desmond glowed gold and Edward needed an excuse to keep him close and to fuck with his crew)

Edward Kenway was a lot of things.

He was as honorable as he was dirty, as merciful as he was cruel…

As smart as he was insane.

“That is a person.” Adéwalé stressed as Edward continued to smile, both hands on the shoulders of the young man slightly in front of him, a little to his right so he wouldn’t be blocked from Adéwalé’s judgmental stare.

Edward simply continued to smile as he said, “He’s both!”

Adéwalé rubbed his face. Pirates were as strange as they come, there was no other way to describe it.

But this…

“Look.”

“Meooowww!” The young man kicked his feet when Edward tugged the cat ears. The meow seemed more surprised than hurt and he stopped making up a fuss afterwards, letting Edward tug the cat ears.

They twitched and flicked against his hands when Edward let go with a huge grin on his face, “They don’t come off.”

Adéwalé stared.

That was not the problem…

“He can be part of the crew.” Adéwalé tried to compromise, “He looks healthy and, even if all he can say is…”

Adéwalé didn’t really want to say it.

“Meow.”

Thankfully, it seemed that the cat man could sense his hesitation.

“Yes, that.” Adéwalé nodded at him before turning his attention back to Edward, “It’s apparent that he can understand us. He’ll make a good shipmate.”

And none of this derogatory catship nonsense.

“If Desmond is okay with that…” Edward shrugged before turning to look at…

Desmond?

Was that the cat man’s name?

“Kenway!”

The crew stepped to the side immediately, making way for the terror of the sea, Blackbeard, to walk towards them without any problem.

Behind him was the supposed son of the late William Kidd, James Kidd.

“We heard you found an interesting shipcat!” Blackbeard said loudly and all eyes were on him immediately.

But Adéwalé focused on the young man behind him.

James Kidd’s eyes were wide and he looked frozen.

He was staring at the cat man.

No.

He was staring at the collar.

The one with the small bell and a stylized inverted v made of silver that decorated it.

impossible to choose! most of the time what i write just disappears from my brain once i post it, so nothing really sticks with me? but this one little bit came to mind as soon as i saw the question, from Conquest of Spaces (SasoDei, sci-fi AU):

The view outside the cockpit was a gemstone-studded blanket of eternal night, spiraling clusters of pinprick stars etching out the edges of their galaxy.

For all its beauty, the stillness of it always chafed at Deidara.

He itched to be in the center of something, a flurry of planet-side action, surrounded by swirling smoke and flame, ears drowning in the scrape-clank of kunai and shuriken. And yet… He stole a sideways glance. Sasori stared forward out the window, his body perfectly still, the stars dancing in his eyes.

8. Favourite fic from another author?

i can't pick just one. also, i don't actually read a lot of other sasodei, so they're all other things? no pressure to read if these ships or charas aren't your thing, but i highly recommend checking them out because they're so well-written.

Galatea by Mayblume - Kakuzu/Sasori, Sasori/Hidan, Kakuzu/Hidan, Kakuzu/Sasori/Hidan. a modern AU where Kakuzu runs a bank and Sasori his his artist fiance. Sasori becomes obsessed with Hidan as his muse, and in turn Kakuzu finds himself drawn to Hidan... Chap 9 isn't posted yet, but i heard there will be smut, heh heh. Mayblume has a standalone smut piece for the trio that's also AMAZING. i just love all the art discourse in this story, and the whole set up is really interesting.

Muse by zombiehoneymoon - Sasori/Hidan, modern AU, artist Sasori. the image of Hidan covered in gold leaf in the setting sun will live with me forever. Smutty but not explicit.

I'm Not Where You Left Me by Thisismycanon/Maiika - Kakashi/Yamato | Tenzou, just about as canon-compliant as you can get. i absolutely love this story. SMUTTY. but also really cleverly fit into canon.

Zahr by shipcat - Sasori's story, told in a postapocalyptic AU. so many powerful sentences.

Skinned Knees by tropicalgothic - Sasori as a kid, romping around with Yashamaru and Karura. i just love this story. my fav part is when they're sliding down the stairs.

for me it has to be all the amazing people i've met since i started posting. from my readers (such as yourself) with all the comments and love you bestow on my works, to the community of naruto fic writers that i've gotten to know on the Naruto Multishippers Discord... damn, everyone's just so talented and chill.... and it gives me the motivation to keep creating. 💖💖💖💖✨✨✨

Hi, I love your KakuHidan stories and just discovered your blog :) I'm always thinking there aren't enough fanfictions about them, so I'm always on the lookout - which stories of them do you recommend, which are your favorites and what would you love to read or can't get enough of reading about them?

You are completely right, there AREN’T enough fanfics about these two! Which is why I started writing fanfics myself, it was out of pure desperation (and I wanted to give back to the amazing fandom). So happy to hear that you enjoy my writing, thank you!

I can’t get enough of canon divergent AUs where they save each other after the fight with the Konoha nins and end up happily married in a cabin somewhere. I’ve read so many of these stories that I have successfully transformed by brain into firmly believing that this is how canon actually went and nobody can convince me otherwise. I JUST WANT THEM TO BE HAPPY

I love love LOVE mafia AUs, which is why my fic Beyond Reach has a special place in my heart. I’d love to expand on that verse, but unfortunately, I’m terrible at coming up with plot ideas. But yeah, I love mafia AUs with every fiber of my being, which is why I’ve read @thatshipcat’s oneshot about the zombi combi as hitmen more times than I can count.

This is mostly pwp, but it is currently my favourite pwp. Remember my obsession with mafia AUs? Well, Kakuzu is a mafia boss and Hidan his hitman in this fic and their dynamic is just. so so good.

In a Strange Land by Tozette

Hogwards AU. Hidan is involved in the dark arts and is so refreshingly, deeply unsettling it gives me goosebumps. And Kakuzu as well.

Beautifully written, achingly romantic. Both @thatshipcat and @awintersrose have written a lot more absolutely amazing KakuHida content, so be sure to check out their other works!

It’s funny, it’s exciting, and I thoroughly enjoy watching Hidan rob a bank ngl. Also, the action scenes are RIVETING.

Obviously, there are endlessly more fics I love with all my heart, but I wanted to keep the list to a tight five.

Aforementioned Kakuzu-gets-Hidan-out-of-that-hole fic. It’s really sweet and never fails to make me smile.

Is it Life or Art? by @lilac-bramble

One of the fics that roped be back in the fandom two years ago. My favourite thing about this fic is that Hidan is a model – and rides a bike through the traffic in London which is ridiculously dangerous.  

Follow your Arrow by Wierdowithagun

The slowest of slow-burns, but so so worth it. It features Kakuzu as a doctor, which is why I always imagine him as either a doctor or a banker in modern AUs now.

Sleepwalking in Stardust by jashinist_feminist

A fic loosely based on the movie Passenger, which is to say it’s KakuHida IN SPACE! How cool is that?? Also, @jashinist-feminist has written more fics about KakuHida, be sure to check them out!

Tea Leaves and Transcendence by Lightningpelt

A coffe shop AU of sorts. I just really enjoy Hidan in this fic - his little tea shop, the apron that is pink because he doesn’t get the blood out, and Kakuzu who just keeps. coming. back.

Obviously I can also recommend all my favs listed above, but I suppose that is implied. I

tried to suggest longer fics so that you have some reading material for the future! Again, there are a lot more fics I would recommend, but this post is already way too long. XD
