Daryl has never been more relaxed than he is in the morning, the sun barely peaking through the curtains before our shifts. He would go his own way outside the wall, hunting and adventuring and I would stay on the inside of the walls, helping out where I'm needed which typically ends up on babysitting duty or in the gardens.

We never had time to be a normal, domestic couple- a couple that we could've been if the world hadn't turned in the direction that it did. The only time that we were a couple, without fear and stress, has always been first thing in the morning and the last thing before bed. Holding each other, talking, smiling, dog in between us.

His breathing is deep, hand secured under his pillow beneath him, the other hand reached out towards me to rest on my hip, his fingers subconsciously rubbing circles into the skin exposed where my shirt rides up. He always finds that spot whether we're laying facing each other or if I'm curled up in him; his hand always lands on my hip.

His eyelashes sit fairly against his cheeks, nose twitching every once in a while and lips parted gently; the definition of pure and utter comfort. He always ran hot in his sleep, even when we were on the run and not safely tucked away in Alexandria, he'd struggle to sleep at night due to the heat in the summer.

So now that we had privacy, he'd sleep shirtless, most of the time on his stomach, scars and bruises lining his back and shoulders out for the warm air to kiss and heal. My fingers would trace them especially in times like this and I've always known how much he likes waking up to me rubbing his back, soothing over the once abused skin.

"How long you been stalkin' me?" Daryl's deep, gravelly voice snaps me out of my thoughts, my eyes focusing on his now open ones, a small smirk on his lips as I chuckle.

"Not stalking. Just admiring." My fingers reach up to trail over his cheek, loving the way he leans into my touch as he reaches between us to pet dog, a small huff coming from the pup. "We still have a bit before we gotta get up." He lets out a relieved breath, scooting closer to me as he tucks his head under my chin, arms wrapping around my waist to tightly pull me against him.

"Missed you." He mutters against my neck, hands rubbing up and down my bare back beneath my- his- shirt.

"You were only asleep like seven hours, D." I chuckle, running my fingers through his hair as he huffs, shrugging his shoulders playfully while mumbling a quick 'I know' under his breath. I laugh at his softness and tenderness, loving how gentle he is in the morning compared to the tough walls that come up during his day.

"Gonna miss you today too." He confesses, taking a deep breath in as my fingers dance over the skin of his back. "Gotta go all the way out to town today. Raid some places with Aaron." He moves back onto his back as I move to lean over him, resting my head against the palm of my hand.

"I'll be here when you get back. I think I'm on carrot duty today." I laugh, watching as he smiles fondly at me, fingers reaching up to brush the hair out of my face. "Then you get me all night." I grin, a sense of mischief in my tone as he rolls his eyes, leaning up to capture my lips in a quick kiss.

"Can't wait, sunshine."

When I first read Alexis Daria’s debut novel, Take the Lead, I knew she’d be a romance author I would follow. Now with the updated cover and story, it reminded me why I loved the characters so much. Gina Morales is a Puerto Rican pro dancer on “The Dance Off” who is vying for a win on the 14th season of the competition show. She’s built her reputation on being a good choreographer and refuses to play into showmances so that viewers will vote for her. But when she’s partnered with Stone Nielson, a super hott reality star who lives in the Alaskan wilderness, she’ll have to decide if risking her reputation for her heart is worth it. I used to watch DWTS and reading this felt like a behind-the-scenes of that world. Gina’s POV about not wanting to play into the “promiscuous Latina” stereotype made me think about how the Latinx celebrities were sexualized on DWTS, especially the men who would often be shirtless for one or more dances. I appreciated that Gina calls it out, and that she’s career-focused, refusing to repeat past mistakes that could ruin her goals. And Stone is perfect for her! He’s on the show to help pay for his mom’s medical bills, and once he learns Gina’s job is on the line, he wants to win even more. I especially liked that Gina doesn’t have to choose between Stone and her career. He never liked being on reality TV and the updated part of him working with an Alaskan conservation group and using his engineering degree was a good addition to the story. Whether as a dance partner or boyfriend, Stone is willing to support Gina in achieving her dreams, and it’s so sweet! - opposites attract - secret romance - moderate steam - WDTK? He posts and shares SO MANY videos of himself and he’s a fan of random shirtless selfies.

I get others do it too (to different degrees) but for me personally it’s a bit much.

PENTAGON Yanan x Ballroom Dancing

Welcome to the second installment of PTG BALLROOM DANCERS AU! I figured Yanan deserved the second one, since I haven’t really written anything for him. (also because i miss him, but that is neither here nor there.) I didn’t really have a hard time placing Yanan into the latin/standard/10-dances category, unlike Wooseok and Hui (and Kino a little bit).

Also, quick disclaimer: I’m a strictly Latin dancer, and although i can kinda dance standard, i don’t have the proper enough technique to say i’m good at it. (i once had a breakdown after my ballroom class because i couldn’t get the tango right AT ALL lmao.)

Strictly a Standard dancer, although he can be taught Latin. His heart is really set in Standard. He’s tall and slim, but he’s got a good, strong body that lends well to leading his partner.

Has changed partners well over ten times in his whole career; he had self-confidence issues that often lead to not participating in a number of seasons. The cycle goes like this: he has a partner --> midway through training/off-season he hits a wall --> confesses he can’t compete for the season because he doesn’t think he’s good enough and it’ll only bring his partner down --> partner leaves to find another lead.

He’s kind of infamous for that, and it takes more of a toll on his mental health everytime a news article about it pops up. Yanan doesn’t want to get remembered for that, and he struggles with it a lot.

Until he met you. The first time he confesses that he can’t compete this season because of his mental health, you just said, “Sure. Tell me when you want to train next, I’ll be here.” And from then you, you became permanent partners. He likes the feeling of having someone sticking by him through what’s going on.

Really good lead. He may not look it because of his wiry frame and long limbs, but he’s really sturdy--you think he could literally whip you around and manhandle you if the need arises.

That being said, he never complains during conditioning days. He accepts them, because he knows the need for it, but will crack jokes to make the whole thing easier for both of you.

Never wears just shorts or goes shirtless (*coughHongseokcough*) while training, no matter how unbearably hot it gets, especially during the summer. There was one time where he wore a sleeveless shirt, but the collar was something like a turtleneck and you were just like, “Can’t you unzip that just a little bit? Your sweat’s gonna start pooling there.” And he just said, “No, I’m actually very comfortable.”

Yanan has various SNS accounts, but he’s most active on his Instagram. He loves posting selfies, songs that you two are practicing to, scenery, and movie recommendations. The occasional promo poster pops up, as well as pictures of his dancer friends competing and captioning them, “Let’s cheer my friend Changgu on at Blackpool!” or something.

He has a significant following (1) because he posts a lot and (2) because he’s really handsome. His notifications blow up with likes whenever he posts after-training selfies. The fans are particularly fond of that one time he just wore a dry-fit sleeveless shirt and he was all sweaty and his hair was sticking all over his face.

He sometimes posts snippets of him playing the piano, and everyone is instantly lovestruck.

Yanan interacts with his fans a lot, liking each and every comment, and responding to some of them. He always thanks them for their continued support, even if he’s not competing during that season.

Posts a few couple photos with you, and everyone thinks you’re adorable.

Absolutely loves dancing the waltzes. He likes the flow of the music and how easy it is to move to the rhythm. During competitions, you two often get photographed while dancing the waltz, and he looks absolutely angelic. You two always wear white, blue, or any other light colors while performing, so looking at you two is like watching fairies dance.

Is also in love with the tango. People think of him as quiet and shy, but really only you and other close friends know he’s actually sassy, and all that attitude comes out in the tango. His tangos with you are always strong, like a pair of snow leopards ready to attack #PowerCouple.

The problem you two had in the beginning was keeping the frame. He’s 70% leg and the height difference makes it tricky to keep proper framing. It’s either you had to wear higher heels or Yanan ends up hunching his back or going super low at the knees. Eventually, as you two got used to each other, you solved that problem. Ballroom enthusiasts always point out how good your frame is, despite the difference.

Has been asked to be a pro dancer/choreographers on some programs, but he always turns them down. He feels the stress is too much for him, so he sticks to competitions and occasionally doing collaborations with his friends.

“Perfect” by Ed Sheeran is a song he’s obsessed with, and when he saw this video he was immediately like, “Y/N!!! Y/N, LET’S DO THIS!!!” So you guys set aside a day to practice it, tweaking the choreography a bit at the places you thought didn’t feel right. It was cool, since you have a costume like Witney’s, but Yanan didn’t want to raid his closet for a black suit, so he just wore one of his numerous white ones.

You filmed the whole of the next day, getting shots during the day, the afternoon, during sunset. You guys made it really romantic, and once it got posted on YouTube and Facebook, everyone was crying at how beautiful the production was.

I mentioned he’s sassy, but Yanan also has a habit of critiquing dances. Despite the questionable credibility of some DWTS dances, you two love watching it--because Yanan can have something to gripe about, and you’re really amused whenever he goes off.

an awkward foot placement during a quickstep performance: “Wh-What is THAT???!!? It’s week 5 of the competition!! And he’s done standard since week 1!! Why is he getting that wrong??!!”

a weird lift, even if you two don’t personally do lifts: “Ooohh, that looks weird, are they okay??? Please don’t drop her, please don’t drop her, oh god--,”

the pro does some questionable choreography or something “experimental”: “Oh, they’re reaching, oh this is gonna be bad, what are they talking about??? I hope his partner doesn’t have high hopes because that was A Choice™.”

an unfair jugding: “WHAT?! SHE GETS A PERFECT SCORE FOR THAT??? ARE THEY BLIND--THEY WEREN’T IN SYNC, SHE WAS TOO FAST FOR THE DANCE, AND HER FRAME WAS TOTALLY OFF!!!!”

You record his outbursts and send it to your dancers group chat; everyone loves seeing Yanan so passionate about something, even if it is about the atrocities of DWTS.

It’s a pic Val posted of him shirtless but everyone in the comments are worried of his sleeping habits because he looks tired. Plus he captioned it nonstop and his eyes look a little red. I just hope he is getting enough sleep, this is why I think it’s a bad idea for them to have a mvpj tour , the man needs sleep. The only way I see it happening if it’s somewhere in august or later in 2020. Your body needs a certain amount of hours of sleep if not then his body can easily shut down.

He’s always been like this but had people in his life that he listened to. Now that he’s married to Jen and she’s a mucher, he has to do double the work. Let’s say dwts doesn’t want her this season and actually goes with Queen Hayley. Now he’s stuck with her coming to his practice and has the stress of her not going 50:50....he needs a nap...a long one and I’m worried.

DWTS Tour recap!

Hey y’all! Here’s my (ever entertaining) tour recap! First of all, we are so grateful to this beautiful lady for giving us tickets for Christmas and coming with us. She was a little reluctant to go considering we told her we’d be leaving the house at 3 and returning God only knows when. But she wanted pics with the pros to brag to her Zumba friends. Imma say our experience delivered. She can’t wait to go next year!

After killing time with endless Jenga battles, we left at 3 to head downtown.

(Y’all should be impressed)

We got downtown, parked, and walked to the bus in hopes we’d see someone. Low and behold......

Abs Boo Thang was exiting the bus at that moment! He was in a rush but came over for a pic and a quick chat. She asked him if he remembered her from last year and he was like “Oh, yeah, of course!” (Bwahahaha). In typical fangirl Katie fashion....I totally forgot to give him his note 🤦🏻‍♀️ or get a pic with him. I’m so bad at this 😂. Abs asked where Wit was right as Carson was getting off the bus. Alan walked over and told him to go get Wit as they were walking into the venue. We stood there and the security lady came over and told us we couldn’t stand there so we left to do a lap of the venue. When we walked to the other side of the bus, we saw a couple way in the distance walking and my mom said “That could be Val and Jenna!” We watched for a second and I saw that mother truckin fanny pack strapped across the man’s chest and I was like “Holy crap it is!!!!” So we walked towards them hoping they’d turn down that sidewalk and not go towards the back of the venue. We leaned against a wall and “got busy on our phones” and put Abs on “see if they come this way” duty. She goes “Um....they are and Val just waved at me!” So we waited till they got closer and turned to wait. They stopped and Val said hello to us and Abs latched herself onto Jenna. My mom told them they were a beautiful couple and asked for a picture

I took one with Val while Abs latched herself back onto Jenna.

I asked him to sign my book and he laughed when I told him I carried that damned thing through MVP and forgot to ask him then

While he was signing, I got a pic with this gorgeous love

Then Abs latched herself onto Val. I went to take a pic and got this absolute gem

Abs is a little salty that she didn’t get one with Val alone but it worked out because somehow the one of her and Jen didn’t take (I think because he asked me a question and I turned to talk to him). We chatted a minute and I completely forgot to ask the questions I had planned (as big of a game as I talk...I’m a total blubbering idiot in front of them). Jen was surprised to see his book without the jacket because she hadn’t seen it naked before. My mom told her it was because I didn’t want it to get messed up in my purse and Val was like “that’s damn smart!” They left and I hollered “Oh my God come back! I have notes for you! I’m such a terrible fangirl in person”. Jenna laughed and Val told me I held it together better than most.

After that encounter we went back to the bus. The security lady chased us off again so we did a lap. My mom was saying she really hoped to meet Sasha and Emma. Abs wanted to meet Ruby. We stopped by the buses again and out walked the Farber family! My mother’s jaw hit the dirt! She went all blubbery fan girl and threw her phone in my direction for a picture

Abs asked if she could pet Ruby and they told her she could, if Ruby let her, because she has some anxiety issues. She was successful and says she is so soft.

Abs wanted a pic with Sasha AND Ruby so....

Abs then started talking to Emma. She asked her if she remembered her from last year. Emma also replied “Oh, sure I do”. Abbie said “I still don’t know why I cried, I think I was overwhelmed”. Emma’s lightbulb turned on and she got all excited “Oh my goodness! I DO remember you! We met over there! Your mum took a video!” This is the moment my love for Emma exploded. She was already a fave, then we met last year and she was so sweet, then she somehow actually remembered us and holy crap y’all!

(Y’all take note of that lady back there in the red jacket. Homegirl was more and more pissed at every pic that we took. Jacksonville security hates me and my fangirl self)

Since Big Bad Security Lady was real deal pissed off after Abs petted Rubes, we decided it was best to take another lap. When we came back, Carson was standing there. He is ADORABLE in person. Like HOLY CRAP! I asked him if I could take a picture. He looked behind him then looked back at me and said “Me?” I said, “Yep!”. He lit up and was like “No one ever wants a picture with me! Heck yeah, I’ll take a picture!” Abs asked him to tell Wit she said hi and I gave him her note (because I finally got my shit together).

(Wit better look out. Imma swoop in on her man)

The world’s friendliest security lady was eyeing us again so another lap was made. When we came back, my mom decided she was “old and needed to check her phone” so we leaned up against a tree in direct defiance of the security nazi. Out popped this beautiful man. Holy Crap, y’all. He is flippin gorgeous in person. I mean like WHOA! He laughed when I tried to take a picture because he’s real deal tall and I’m real deal short. He grabbed my phone and took the pics for us. Ha! Words can not describe the beauty that is Gleb in person. My mom kept saying how handsome he is.

Right when Gleb left, this adorable human came out. My mother’s face says it all. He is just precious! So kind, so baby faced, so very precious.

At this point, Meet and Greet had started so we wandered around to go see if we could tell who was inside because we still hadn’t found Joe, Artem, Hayley, Britt, or Wit. I went around back while my mom and Abs held that tree up, which made the security lady’s day. I saw Wit and Artem inside mingling so I knew we were pretty out of luck and went to collect the lurkers to go grab dinner. My mom wanted to sit and watch M&G for a bit and all of us were in absolute awe of the beauty of Wit while she and Artem were happily selfieing (yeah, I made that a verb, deal with it) with the fans. My mom couldn’t get over how the people in there paid that much money for tickets and we had met more than half the cast on our own terms. We went back out front for one more glance before dinner and somehow Artem was at the bus. I was waving my squad over while I gave him his card and asked for a picture and he was reeeaaaallll skeptical. He said “It depends, how many people are over there”. I said “Just me” as I am frantically waiving. He cut his eyes at me and said “Are you suuuuuuure?” I told him it was just my mom and daughter (as they finally moseyed over there) and he laughed and told me the guard was oddly insistent about them not talking to the fans at the bus for some reason and she was scary.

Y’all….here’s where I show you a zoom in of Attila the Hun (from the background of our Esha encounter)…..who is not even a little impressed with the fact that we were at this show. Artem was scared of her, my mother….not even a little.

We went and had some pizza, got our souveniers (including a mug for Bestie that I SWEAR Imma mail tomorrow), and went to the show. Y’all….the show is AMAZING! I liked it a lot more than last year! The dances were amazing, the dialogue was hysterical. My mom’s favorite part was Emma’s Elvis dance and the couple segment. Abs favorite dance was “The One Where Alan Is Shirtless”….so pretty much all of it. My favorite was the flag dance. I had seen clips of the drool worthy dance and of Sasha running out at the end. What I hadn’t seen was that he runs out and in approx 5 times as the guys look at him like he’s insane. He finally comes out with some tiny yard marking stake flag and starts waving it frantically, whacking Val with it. I about peed myself!

After the show, we went out to the buses and met up with Abs’ friend and her mom. We chit chatted and the actual DWTS Security guy came out. He told us that the curfew was 10 (it was about 9:15) and that when he came and told us no one else was coming, we had to leave because the buses had to roll out right at 10. He told us to respect the “very secure, military grade bike racks that were provided to us and no pushing or shoving. A (very nice) arena security guy lamented the fact that no one ever wants to take a picture of him....then cracked up when I said “Oh, but I do!” and I did.

Joe came out and went directly on the bus, Alan came out and mingled (and cut me out of our selfie….brat),

Sasha came out and mingled for a loooooong time. He made sure everyone got to talk to him and take their pictures. He was great this tour!

Most of the pros came out and went straight to the bus due to time. At one point someone yelled “Hi Carson!” The girl next to her said “That’s his last name, you idiot!” so she then yelled “Well, Hi Mr Witney!” He chuckled and waved and went on the bus. Abbie goes “Their last name is McAllister” and we all died laughing because it was hysterical. Jenna came out and got some stuff out of the bus and that’s when I heard her say to someone on the staff “Actually, Val and I are…..” and now we know they went to Jersey. Witney came out to mingle and Abs lost her collective fan girl shit. She absolutely LOVES Witney. My mom couldn’t get over how stunningly beautiful Wit is in person and without makeup. She is absolutely gorgeous.

When Wit came over to us Abs was in tears and Wit asked her name. She told her Abbie and Wit said “Oh! Carson told me you said hello! I read your note!” Abs’ friend’s mom managed to catch it all in pics and it’s adorable.

After Wit, Britt came out but only got to about half the crowd (not us.....sigh). Emma came out and security told her she couldn’t see anyone so she gave the crowd an air hug and told us she loved us and thanked us all for coming out as security was ushering Britt out and onto the bus. As we were walking to the cars, Abs and her friend were catching up on some middle school gossip and her mom and I were exchanging tour stories. I brought up a picture of Shai’s hat and she was like OMG! You’re on tumblr! I still haven’t decided if I’m embarrassed or flattered, but this is gonna be so much fun! Y’all…..she’s my kindred Valenna believer. @edsy914

All in all it was an amazing night that capped off a pretty damn epic weekend. We got to meet everyone but Joe, Hayley, and Britt. We all can’t wait to go next year!

DWTS Season 27 TRIO WEEK Trashy Thoughts

Whew this season is a cluster and I LOVE IT. Unpredictable my friends. Keeping us on our toes. I am going to make and insert my favorite gifs from each dance too

Opening: Cute little opener. Not much to say about it lol

JP & Cheryl+Melissa Rycroft: He got a ROUGH package, which is very interesting to me…Very interesting. I hate this dance. Everything about it. The music styling, all of it. He can move his hips. That is about it. This is a whole as mess. At least she added a couple of cha cha steps? But this is trash and I hate it. All of it. A whole ass posing trash mess. I actually agreed with CAI for the first time, I canNOT connect with him. At all. 8-8-8 shoulda had a 7 IMO

Tinashe & Brandon+Amy Purdy: Amy & Tinashe should have had DIFFERENT colors. They straight up SAID the best dancers don’t last AND high scores don’t keep you there. WE ALLLLLLLLLLL should have seen it coming tbh. I honestly didn’t hate this dance, but Amy messed up a few points and also I hate Brandon’s facials something fierce… It was forgettable. Plain and simple. 9-8-9 would have said 8.5. It was fine but like I just don’t really remember it until now that I have rewatched it.

John & Emma+ Joey Fatone: I. LOVE. JOEY. I adore him. I adore her costuming. If her hair hadn’t gotten stuck it would have been amazing at the beginning. I actually REALLY enjoyed this dance. Like a lot. And the music was STUNNING. I didn’t expect to like John as much as I do this season. And I can’t with Joey’s makeup. KILLING me lmaooooo I skipped through the judges because I am over it lol I liked it and him with the judges kills me. 7-7-7 and I agree

Evanna & Keo+ Scarlett Brynne: I still don’t understand why these RANDOM ASS PEOPLE are in these fuckin trios man. Why?? I hate it. It’s crap and dumb. She kept up overall. Keo overdanced her again though. I watch him more than her sometimes because he is more dynamic. Scarlett missed steps. Also she kinda looks like Janel LOL. 8-8-8 and I concur. Also I couldn’t find any other giffable moment than this LMAO

Demarcus & Lindsay+ Rashad Jennings: Okay I KNEW this was going to happen with this dance. Okay the package was whew. That broken finger man gahhhhhh and he was so chill about it LOL that football mentality man. Okay as for the dance, I knew this was going to happen. Rashad is too good to go with Demarcus. It highlighted that Demarcus is the weaker dancer of the two. Rashad danced down to Demarcus’s level and Demarcus tried too hard to dance to Rashad’s level and it lost the intensity in my opinion. He doesn’t hit things like Rashad does and this made it apparent. It wasn’t a bad dance AT ALL but it highlighted the WRONG things. 7-7-8 I think that was about right

MLR & Sasha+Nastia Lukin: I am glad ya’ll enjoy her because I just don’t care one way or the other for he. Probably because she’s with Sasha and every time I see him I wanna hit him. The package was good though, she needed that. I think this dance suited MLR more because of alllllll of my issues with her the last three weeks. She still poses so much. There wasn’t as much trio as I would have preferred but that’s the first dance of hers I liked. 9-8-9 I’d have said 8

Milo & Witney+ Riker Lynch: I have been looking forward to this dance all week tbh. Riker should have won that season LOL I really really enjoy Milo. And I am glad to see Witney back to her old self. LMAO Witlash. Milo coming off a little cocky though. She almost fell twice though lol It was what I expected. I did love it. A lot. 10-9-10 and I agree

Joe & Jenna+Jordan Kimbrell: Okay. I have so many thoughts. WHY THE AF DID THEY PUT THIS RANDOM SHIT ON HERE?? Jordan is more charismatic than Joe tbh. Whew okay. Time to start the actual dance. Jenna looks stunning so there is that. I can’t stop laughing though. The minute they ripped the shirts off I lost it lmaooooo omg the “body grind “ was so Bad. Then gleb and Val came in and saved the shit out of it. Omg I can’t with this dance. I can’t quit laughing. And Val and gleb at the end. WHEW that was a fucking hot mess. Alexis & Alan+Maddie Ziegler: AGAIN WHY TF IS THIS RANDOM ON MY SCREEN. Though they look like twins. Still don’t care about Alexis tbh. Don’t care at all. This dance wasn’t bad. She overdanced Alexis imo. And they didn’t dance together. Alexis has the same problem as demarcus this week. She is way too soft. But she seemed to enjoy this week the most so that’s good. But meh whatevs 8-8-9 also, see below the most WTF choreographed bit last night

Bobby & Sharna+Lindsey Sterling: I think they kinda got jipped getting cha cha with Lindsey. She’s not the most hip actiony person lol but they cute. Cute package. Really pushing about the dreams he’s living. This is 100% a lipsync battle lmao he hit those hammer moves though. I just can’t stop smiling through this though. It was a whole ass blast dude. The cha cha was lacking but it was fun! 7-6-7 which I mean okay yeah

OKAY so my thoughts re: that elimination that none of you asked for but if you actually read this shit show then you will get. I am ONLY shocked about her going home last night because of the jeopardy last week. I am not shocked she went home early. She’s entirely forgettable when you have people like Bobby and Joe and Milo and Evy. The people that don’t really vote or don’t watch live or are just basic casual viewers continuously forget her. My flip phone loving, email incapable memaw forgot she was on until she started dancing. Mama asked what dance she did last week because she honestly couldn’t remember. That is Tinashe’s problem. She was a superb dancer but easily forgettable this season. I was only shocked because I thought that jeopardy would carry her another couple of weeks.
