Awwww that's cute. I do picture Oscar with long hair, but tangled, like she doesn't really bother with it, generally just leaves them in a low ponytail. Lando would be annoying and tug on it for sure, but never too hard. Just the right amount.. giving Oscar other ideas hehe.

You know, it's amazing that I never put this together until now, but it's accidentally incredibly clever that Jay in my AU is supposed to be Trans, cause in the AU, the element of Lightning is supposed to represent Innovation.

Now I just need to decide if he should be trans-masc and his transition happened off-screen between now and his childhood when he first met Wu as a young girl,

Or have her start out as a boy at the beginning but allude to her being trans-fem and have her discovering herself being the key to unlocking her true potential in Season 2.

Weird confession, probably an unpopular opinion, but: I actually like a lot of the concepts and basic designs behind the costumes in the Rings of Power series more than I like the concepts and basic designs behind the costume in the PJ Lord of the Rings films (with the costumes for the rohirrim and the people in Gondor being the exception). Don’t get me wrong, the costumes in the PJ Lord of the Rings series look amazing. They’re gorgeous and, on the whole, better made than the Rings of Power costumes. It’s just that the there’s something very dungeons and dragonsy about the PJ Lord of the Rings costumes (especially for the elves), and I know that’s because there was a twenty year feedback loop where there was a slight DnD-ness to the PJ Lord the the Rings elf outfits which then just became standard Elf Clothes in LOTR fanart which then fed back into the people making art for the DnD handbooks, but still. And I’ll admit I’m biased—it just so happens that that aesthetic is one I don’t particularly like. So seeing the costumes in Rings of Power make a clean break from that was really refreshing. And they mostly look like clothes people would wear. And I love the ideas in the designs! Elrond’s brown cloak with the feathers? That’s a sweet little tribute to his mom. The gold dust makeup on Disa’s hands and her robe (which honestly looked better in action than it did in the promo shots)? Neat concept. Tar-Miriel’s crown (and all of her outfits, actually)? Stunning. I’m in love. I just wish the designers and costume makers had been given all the time they needed to really make every costume look as good as they probably looked in their heads.

The Haircut And The Reveal

Tex smiled a brilliant dimpled smile as xe ran a hand through xyr now very short hair, nails thoughtlessly if not gently raking through the fine hairs at the nape of xyr neck. Xe had never had xyr hair so short and the freedom of it, the way it affirmed xyr agender identity and the literal weight lifted from xyr new haircut off xyr head was intoxicating. Xe had gathered all of xyr f/os in the street of the cul-de-sac they all lived in for the great reveal and was met with a sea of familiar faces, expressions ranging from excitement to shock.

"So..." xyr smile widened, equal parts out of joy and apprehension, "what do y'all think?"

Sherlock was the first to speak. "You look like a tiny, brown version of yours truly," it blurted playfully with that familiar, soothing baritone chuckle.

John (Watson) elbowed it gently before offering Tex a smile. "I think it's great, really Texie. I'd be happy to help you keep it trimmed if you want to keep it short."

"Thank you, Johnny." Tex replied sweetly.

"My darling little Death Cap, it's beautiful," Morticia offered sweetly, "but where will you hide your precious little daggers now?"

Tex grinned sharply. "Don't worry Mamá, I'm doubling down on my clothes."

Morticia nodded, a regal acknowledgment of a Queen well assured.

Donny, flanked by Jim, John (Parry), and Max, the three of which were still too busy just staring, grinned widely. "How's it feel? Do you like it?"

Tex nodded enthusiastically, xyr now very short and much tighter curls bouncing along with xem. "I love it! It's so soft- I'll let you touch it later, okay?"

"I want to touch it, too!" Lyra blurted, "You 'ent never let me touch it before when it was long."

A low murmur of agreements rushed through the crowd like a gentle wave.

"Weeeeell, now that it's short, I won't mind!" Tex drawled sweetly, "In fact! I'll enjoy it now!"

James smiled softly. "I'll be holding you to that later."

Maxwell shook his head and thus shook his shock away. He grinned. "It'll make diving and snorkeling much easier, eh Hen?"

"Absolutely!" Tex chirped.

"You'll have to promise me you'll let me style it sometime!" Rebekah demanded, "And let me pick out some new outfits for you, too!"

Tex smiled. "It's a promise."

Tony scratched his beard. "I love it but quick question- did you keep the hair you chopped off, Shortstack?"

"I did! Hopefully I can donate it." Tex answered.

Tony beamed. "That's my kiddo."

On and on, each of Tex's f/os took time to offer their warm support and on and on, Tex's heart swelled and overflowed with warmth and gratitude.
