7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Maybe Three Months on Vulcan (Star Trek ENT, Trip/T'Pol, T)?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Only once. Back in the day, there were some antis who were super offended when we kept shipping Regina and Robin Hood (OUAT) when his wife came back from the dead (which turned out not to be his wife). Someone left a review on a fic that I was supporting infidelity and I was a horrible person. I deleted the comment. Ain't nobody got time for trolls. ;)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I have very, very few M-rated stories. Usually I just pan to the sky, but when I don't, it's because I feel it serves the story somehow and it's generally more poetry and emotion than descriptions of the mechanics.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Only twice. The funnest one is When Fairy Tale Meets Mythology (OUAT/MCU, Loki/Jane Foster, Emma Swan/Killian Jones, T).

Not that I'm aware of, but these days, I wouldn't be surprised.

I was asked a couple of times, but never got the links of the finished product. *shrug*

Oneshots. I can short-story like a champ.

Finishing multi-chapter stories. Ugh.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I've done it, though I've tried to keep it to a minimum, making sure it serves a purpose. I also try to make it easy to guess the meaning with context and always, always include the translation in the end notes. OH. And if it's a real language (unlike Vulcan), I try to get the help of a native speaker rather than rely on Google Translate.

Look, this is the undisputed number one spot. Loki has been my ride or die for the past 14 years (!!!), my first tattoo is dedicated to him, and he’s the character that got me through the loneliest and scariest periods of my life. Loki will always be my number one, tbh.

2. Dream of the Endless (The Sandman)

Now, Dream is the character that simply bust down the doors to my heart and took residence, no questions asked. Through Dream and The Sandman fandom I was able to connect to parts of my identity I wasn’t aware of, and to make so many great friends! Dream means a lot to me (so much so that my *second* tattoo is of the dreamstone— in a grand total of two lol)

3. Edward Elric (Full Metal Alchemist)

Ed is the blueprint of the pissed off short king tbh. I always related to how he dealt with guilt and how driven he is, and his character arc was one of the most captivating I’ve ever had the pleasure to experience. As a 14 year old, I would for real go out in public wearing his red cloak.

4. Chrono (Chrono Crusade)

If I have unreasonable expectations of Love, Chrono is the one to blame. Throughout the entire show (and the manga, which I do feel has the better ending) his dedication and kindness to the people he loves and cares about was just incredibly captivating to a 12 year old Virgo. Real character building stuff.

5. Sora (Kingdom Hearts)

Sora had the sickest shoes and my taste for unreasonably large and perhaps sorta ugly sneakers comes from him for sure. I just love that spiky little guy.

6. Raven (Teen Titans)

Raven was honestly the first character that made me go “she’s just like me fr!” There was always something super fascinating about her, and how complex she is. It was nice seeing female characters like her and Starfire in cartoons.

7. Howl Pendragon (Howl’s Moving Castle)

I identify with Howl in many ways, but mostly in how dramatic and absolutely pathetic he is. Also I do feel like a monster sometimes and a way to visualise that is to imagine I’m covered in green slime.

Ouran should have been my queer awakening, but I think I was too young to realise I was what a large part of my identity was unlocked through this character. He knows he's good at his job, he's handsome, and a fan favorite.

He's a nice guy but in both terms of meaning.

And he is also well aware of Decking City and its defense force. Especially the Beloveds and ESPECIALLY Sweetheart. She's basically his equivalent and the only one who could really pass him up. She also has a bunch of fans and is pretty cute. He does think she'd be cuter if she got rid of some of that body hair but "hey, it adds a unique charm to 'ya!"

On one hand, it's a crush but on the other, it's the perfect move to benefit his hero image. And in turn, he tries to spin a possible relationship as something that could benefit them both. They would be the power couple, the link between Decking and the mainland, and they could have a super hero family in the future!

That...last part always makes Sweetheart have to excuse herself from any situation to barf as it makes her feel genuinely ill (but that's a dump for another time)

Due to this strange fascination with her, he winds up visiting Decking City any chance he gets, especially when it's for professional hero stuff. He can bump Decking City higher up on his list of important things.

Sweetheart hates it whenever she has to deal with him but she has to because she is the face of Decking and Freebird is the face of America. And for the sake of the city and all who live in it, she has to keep relations good or Decking suffers support wise. She also has to play nice because she can't just say she has a boyfriend.

We all know a hero and a villain is highly taboo and the last thing we need is America's poster boy to find that shit out. And saying she has a boyfriend, while it is the truth, would cause him to do some investigating and lord knows how that'd turn out.

That doesn't mean she has to put up with his advancements. She is slick and can talk her way out of things easy. And she can stand her ground. America's pretty boy ain't nothing to her monster man and no matter how much he tries to intimidate her, she never gives in nor pays him any mind. She makes interactions quick if she needs to talk to him and leaves the second she doesn't have to.

He thinks she is playing hard to get and boasts about it, especially back to all the mainland heroes and the press.

Which has sadly led to people shipping them and gossip being spread.

Nothing gets too outlandish as Sweetheart shuts things down when she is in interviews but it's like a fly that keeps buzzing around your head that you keep having to wave away. It leaves for a bit but always comes back.

Bitterbat hates Freebird with all his Monstrum being and anytime he is in town, he is stuck to Sweetheart like glue. He often disobeys her telling him to stay home or don't follow her to DDF meetings (where Freebird will obviously be) but the King knows how much stress the birdy causes his Queen and follows anyways.

He takes his mini monster form and trails her and doesn't leave her side. And he can tell how much she really wants and needs his help because anytime he gets discovered by her, the lecture is a short "you know better" before she hides him in her bust. There's no scolding back home unlike other times, which makes Bitterbat's blood boil the most because he knows how much help she wants to ask him for.

But the help Bitterbat gives would put Freebird 6ft under and lord knows how bad it'd look for the archenemy of Sweetheart to kill America's #1 Hero. Especially when the two plan on revealing their relationship in the future.

State of the Author: January 2024

Normally, I wouldn't do a thing like this. However, because I have not actually updated y'all on my WIPs in a while, I thought I might as well!

We'll start with the thing most of you followed me for: long-form fiction. And I call it that since all of these will be over 15k words (hopefully). There are three novels I'm currently focusing on.

LONG-FORM FICTION

Lodestar is currently stuck in a worldbuilding spiral, since it's a near-future humanity in space. While I do love sci-fi, science and math are not especially my forte. I hope to start drafting by the end of the summer, around September.

Vespertine has started on the first draft, though I'm also outlining still - something of a combined process. I am excited to share more of it with you, though it may be tough since most of it still lives in my head. Such is the woe of the artist.

Unto Summer Kings is in the first draft and currently hovering around 15k words! So far it's the longest I've gotten on a novel, and if I stay on track I could start my second draft by May, and begin beta reading by August.

LONG-FORM FANFICTION

I hesitate a little to touch on this one, just because. However, for the pure self indulgence I will. I have three major fanfics currently posted on my AO3, all of them multichaptered.

The Hanged Man is a Naruto SI!OC as Hatake Sakumo, immediately before his death. I currently have 8 chapters out and the main beats of the fic are fully outlined as of this month, which marks a major turning point in the fic's planning.

The Ever-Growing Gloaming is another self insert, this time into the events of Baldur's Gate 3. Vespere, the main character, whose name is subject to change, has been plucked from August 2023 and has not played the game since early access March 2023. Therefore they know less than you might expect.

Finally I have my Supernatural series, For Want of a Broken Nail (Broken Nail Verse). And I know what you're going to say, it's super meta to have a self insert in that fandom, you're writing SPN fanfic in 2024 what is wrong with you, etc etc. But the concept seized me full on by the balls and I already have the first 5 seasons outlined. Sorry, not sorry? No one is obligated to read it anyhow.

I also have a billion ideas on the backburner, ranging from fandoms like Game of Thrones and the MCU (for some reason) to Avatar: the Last Airbender and Star Wars. I'll post 'em when I post 'em!

ART PROJECTS

Wolf in Shepherd's Clothing is a comic of humanity's first lycanthrope, taking place in ancient Mesopotamia, in what is modern day Iran. The main character, Lahar, is gender neutral/ambiguous. So far, I'm stuck in outlining and drafting but hopefully soonTM.

Witchboy (title wip) is a story I'm working on with my partner @fallenorpheus based on various YA novels we read growing up. So far we aren't super set on the story, but it's definitely about a boy who is (accidentally) a witch, his best friend, his adoring father, and his estranged mother.

Dame-Errant (title wip) is a story that, instead of in comic form, is a story that is illustration snapshots, accompanied by short story prose. It is about a butch knight, Dame Johana Talon, who is tasked by Queen Atossa to find her missing son, Prince Khosrow. Typical 'prince(ss) in the tower shenanigans' but then, politics. And boy does Jo hate politics.

I have other webcomic ideas (mtf vs bbeg accidentally breaking a prophecy, team of bipoc/minority characters getting thrown into a fantasy world for an adventure, etc) so feel free to ask.

PERSONAL

I hesitate to touch on this, really, since it's not something that just anyone needs to know, but I've been struggling to find a good name for myself. Hesperos is a good name, but doesn't necessarily feel like 'me' these days. I do enjoy the h/e sounds... I've considered Ezra, but that's just the name of an OC and I'd rather not get quite that meta.

Ah well, sure it'll sort itself out eventually.

Quartz probably has the best, though Ubi would be a close second. Meanwhile, Amma and Yra are fairly tied for last, but Yra probably has the worst.

2. which oc has never had their first kiss?

Lapiz, considering they're still young (and they're aroace.) And maybe Ubi too

4. which oc can cook? what’s their favorite thing to cook?

Quartz can cook and bake! She loved making bread, and anything to do with bread!

8. which oc prefers flowing clothes? tight clothes?

Yra prefers flowing clothes (both for trans reasons and cuz it makes them look cool.) Amma prefers tight clothes, cuz she needs her clothes to stay out of the way (she's a swordswoman and an actress on the side!)

12. what oc is the best at dealing with stress? how do they deal with it?

Quartz, definitely. Woman is the queen of stress relief tactics, from journaling, to art, to deep breathing, and to self care.

14. which oc makes their bed every morning? which one thinks it’s a waste of time?

Quartz is very neat, so she always makes sure to make her bed! Meanwhile, Lapiz is a messy teen who is constantly just running around, and thinks it's a waste of time.

18. which oc cried during the lion king and SWEARS they didn’t?

Yra, definitely. "No, Amma, I did not cry. You were just imagining things. Shut up Amma."

21. which oc is a lightweight? which oc carries them home?

Quartz would probably be pretty lightweight, though I don't think she'd really drink all that much. Her and Ubi would be the designated drivers most of the time, so they end up having to deal with Amma and Yra drunk.

22. which oc likes to read to their partner? which oc prefers being read to?

I can imagine Quartz reading to her partner (or her sister, Amma.) I also think Amma would like reading to people, considering she is an actress. Yra would enjoy getting ready to (though he'd definitely deny it if Amma tries to bring it up lol)

Ubi. Don't really have much else to say lol

28. which oc would start a podcast? what would it be about?

Lapiz would try to start a podcast about technology and stuff like that! Not sure how well it would go, but they would try!

Amma, definitely. But Ubi, and I mean this in the most loving way possible, would be the type of guy to wear shorts when it's snowing.

Ubi and Lapiz. They try to convince Yra, but it thinks they're just being silly (he does actually get scared from one of their stories, but they'd never admit it)

Ubi. And he has a very Tumblr-y vocab (scrunkly, horse plinko, eeby deeby, stuff like that. No one knows what he's talking about. Lapiz starts to pick up on these speech habits, much to everyone's dismay)

Quartz, though Amma is a very close second.

Well, the name Amma actually comes from a conversation I had with my older sibling where we were talking about names that are palindromes, and I came up with Amma, which they insisted was not a name. Also, Yra comes from the Latin word for anger, ira! And Ubi comes from Latin too! It means "where," and it's actually a nickname given to him by Lapiz, because he sucks with directions. Lapiz is the only one who knows his birth name.

40. if all your ocs were to get into a giant, mcu style fight, who would win?

Either Amma or Yra. Probably Yra.

Fight Me!

As I didn't have time to participate in Flash Fiction Friday the last two weeks and am still unsure about tomorrow, I decided to use a previous prompt by @flashfictionfridayofficial for a short fanfic.

Fandom: MCU/Marvel Pairing: Loki x Reader Rating: Teen and up (mention of violence and blood, not graphic) Word count: 643

“Fight me!”, Loki screamed and looked up at you. His pupils were blown, his features screwed up in disgust. The hate for you was evident on his face and broke your heart a little more.

You shook your head and felt a single tear running down your cheek. He had loathed you for years being envious of everything: your powers which you controlled so easily, your friendship with Thor which was as strong as if you were his sister, your popularity amongst other Asgardians even though you were just a low-born magician and not a glorious prince like him.

The first time he called you his enemy, you were barely eight years old. You had demonstrated a powerful levitation spell in front of the King and Queen. He, on the other hand, still struggled with lifting a small leaf a few inches from the ground. The same day, Loki started playing tricks on you. In the beginning, they were innocent, a bit annoying but not as bad as they developed to be over the years. Without prior warning, his whole demeanour changed though. His jokes turned cruel. From one day to the next, you couldn’t go anywhere inside or outside the palace alone without fearing that a curse would hit you. He never dangerously hurt you but unpleasant things happened: strangely coloured hair, clothes that suddenly were four sizes too big and headaches that stayed for a week or two. You got used to using counter courses with every step you took and learned to be aware of all the little changes in your surroundings. You hated Loki for playing these tricks if you even could call them “tricks” anymore. Yet, there was a tiny part of you that enjoyed the attention he gave you that way. This was the only attention he paid you recently, as from one day to the next he stopped talking to you – not even starting or taking part in arguments - and refused to stay in the same room if not necessary.

You knew he hated you, but still, he had never openly attacked you till today. He had jumped you in an empty corridor after the spring feast, pushed you against a wall, hand around your neck and snarled insults you couldn’t properly understand. He wasn’t fully himself that was clear. His face was flushed and the smell radiating from him told you he was drunk. So, it wasn’t all too difficult to throw him off you. He stumbled and you easily caught him with your magic. He struggled to try to break your spells, but he couldn’t focus properly and failed miserably landing on the floor in front of you. There he lay bound down by your magic, helpless, breathing heavily and glaring up at you.

“Don’t be a coward. Fucking fight me already!”, he spat again, and again you shook your head. You couldn’t hurt him. Not when he was unable to use his powers properly. Not when he was out to hurt or kill you. Never.

Having stared at him for what felt like ages, you let loose of the spell and held out a hand. Hesitantly, he reached out and let you pull him up. You wanted to say something, and finally have the conversation that was long overdue. The words that were supposed to leave your lips however turned into a pained gasp. Stunned, you looked down at your body seeing the golden hilt of a dagger embedded into your stomach. You could feel warm blood dripping down and a sharp pain spreading through your abdomen. Your head snapped upwards mustering the young man standing in front of you. Your eyes found Loki’s who looked as surprised as you felt, frozen in place and his face going pale.

“Why?”, you mumbled before your legs gave out and everything around you went black.

I might add a second chapter here in the future.

Love & Thunder thoughts

This is going to be a spoiler-y ramble so I’m putting it all under a cut.

I feel like I’ve been holding my breath for this movie ever since I heard it was greenlit. It’s the occupational hazard of being massively invested in a franchise that is ongoing. I generally try to be very adaptable and open to new developments but I always have to brace myself. Everything new could completely bulldoze the intricate system of headcanons I’ve come up with around Asgard and the characters. Ragnarok is what kicked my enthusiasm for the Brodinsons into overdrive and Thor’s grief in Infinity War is what inspired a monster-sized WIP after a decade of passively enjoying MCU content. I also liked Endgame, but I was deeply nervous about the Loki series and deeply nervous for Love & Thunder. I really liked the Loki series and am psyched for S2. But while it didn’t do what I was worried about and wreck all my headcanons, Love & Thunder is easily my least favorite Thor movie. 

I don’t hate it. There are a lot of things I like, and I’m going to be retconning Heimdall’s family into my fic as soon as I can. I don’t think there could have been a better way to explain Jane getting Thor powers than Thor inadvertently casting a spell like the one Odin did on Mjolnir, and the way they just call her a Thor like that’s the obvious thing to do was probably also the best approach. Same with King Valkyrie (still don’t like it; I want her to have an actual name, and aren’t they implying queens are lesser by not making that her title?, but hey at least I don’t have to go back and give her a different name in my fic now). Also loved the goats, the Bifrost longship, the black and white planet, the shadow monsters, and all the battle scenes. Mjolnir’s new ability to re-shatter and do a multi-attack is genius and looked fantastic. Loved seeing Darcy and Erik. Loved the recap that included all three times Thor lost his brother. Loved seeing Sif again even if she was basically just there to be a reverse Black Knight from Monty Python. None of the things I was worried about before it came out happened (except that Loki wouldn’t come back, which I hoped he would, even if it was juuuust long enough for an onscreen hug with Thor). I was worried they’d kill Thor off, but instead they gave him an adoptive daughter who is adorable! Cool.

But this movie is a mess. A lot of the humor fell flat for me (especially the jealous weapons thing which got old pretty much immediately), but the biggest problem is pacing. This is the same biggest problem I have with Venom 2. Why are these directors so pleased with their short runtimes when it’s only possible because their movies are frenetic dashes to the end credits? If it had been somewhere between 15-30 minutes longer, I think it would’ve fixed almost all of my problems with it, including the humor. I want to take like 45 minutes off Eternals and divide them between Venom 2 and L&T.

Jane’s story: she wants to live for the important astrophysics work she’s doing, but we don’t see her doing any of it except in the breakup montage. Why not show what she was working on pre-Blip and how weird it was to slot back in when Darcy had gained the same credentials and carried on without her in the meantime? She wants to keep doing her work but the idea that it can go on without her now is worse. And once she becomes sick, show her being less able to do her work. Show her at stage 3 so that her Mjolnir solution seems less like her only option, because then it would tie into Gorr’s claim that gods are selfish. The medical solution isn’t fast enough for her so she’s going to try magic. Then show her trying to do her work after starting to wield Mjolnir, but she’s sicker and she’s now in stage 4. My main issue is that the movie doesn’t make it clear before Thor tells us that using Mjolnir is making the cancer worse. I thought she was already terminal, so what did she have to lose except small increments of time? Those added scenes would’ve helped the movie breathe and made Jane’s arc more powerful.

Valkyrie’s story: it seems she thinks she wants to die in battle to rejoin her sisters in Valhalla, and then she gets wounded and has no interest in joining the final battle against Gorr. We needed one scene to solidify her wish to be reunited with everyone she lost and one scene to show her realizing how much she now has. She doesn’t want to die anymore. That’s huge, and the movie totally glossed over it. 

I’m not sure what Thor’s story needed except to slow down. Everything he’s lost being explained in humorous summary and then him being extremely obnoxious to the Guardians does not sell his grief the way Infinity War and even Endgame did. Even the romance between Thor and Jane only felt like it had substance to it because it was built on previous movies. The flashbacks made it seem sillier, except for when he enchanted Mjolnir to protect her, which was lovely.

It’s not just that L&T is missing slower scenes; it’s missing ones that would increase the tension too. There’s so much telling and so little showing. Ragnarok also had this problem with the Asgard side of the story. But in Ragnarok, everything else was so enjoyable that it outweighed that. Not so here. A sequence where Gorr attacks Omnipotence City would’ve been great. He attacks it, maybe early in the film before he attacks New Asgard, and he’s doing some damage around the edges. We don’t see how that goes yet. Next he attacks New Asgard, after which Thor wants to go to Omnipotence City to rally the survivors (if there are any) to go rescue the kids. They find Omnipotence City basically in perfect condition because Gorr failed to make much headway with his assault. However, despite their obvious power, the gods there refuse to help Thor save the children of Asgard. Gorr, meanwhile, has turned his focus to reaching Eternity because that’s the only way he can defeat the gods of Omnipotence City. This would really sell that Gorr kinda has a point. I’m not sure what to do about the Eternity wish thing though. Gorr’s been killing all these lesser gods but he basically does get to have a prayer answered in the end, so what’s that about? It feels a little weird. Maybe they could say something about how the gods are just people with too much power, but that’s what Gorr has become now too? I dunno. (Also what’s up with there being a Wishing Well McGuffin in both this movie and Multiverse of Madness?)

Finally, way too much Korg, but at least with him as a framing device, I can ignore basically anything I don’t like. I can assume all those things I wished were in the movie actually happened offscreen and Korg couldn’t be bothered to include them in his retelling. He is canonically an unreliable narrator so it’s not even a stretch. But it was very frustrating when he got shattered and it was played like this wacky sequence suddenly had a big character death, only for him to be perfectly fine as just a face. Possibly one of the worst examples in the MCU of a character death fakeout. Could we have had a hint earlier on that Kronans don’t need to be intact to survive? Maybe the one Thor shattered in Dark World coming back? Also, in Ragnarok Korg said he had a mum, so was he adopted by some random lady after ending up on Sakaar or was that just a retcon?

Also, on the technical side of things, there were a couple of scenes that must’ve been pickups where they do that thing where they edit the actor’s face saying the new dialogue over the original filmed shot, and Chris and Natalie’s faces looked extremely uncanny valley. Super distracting. And when they went to the black-and-white planet, maybe I blinked at the wrong moment but it seemed like they went from wandering around on the featureless surface of the tiny planet to being inside a giant tent structure. Establishing shot, anyone? Where the heck did that come from?

Anyway, this left me wondering what could’ve been if they’d brought Patty Jenkins back and let her direct the love story she wanted to do for Thor 2. I like a lot of Taika’s other work, especially Ragnarok, but whoever told him to aim for a 2-hour runtime deserves to be slapped.

Utter(ly) Random: Disney Expo (D23)

September 2nd saw the Disney Expo, or D23, take place in Anaheim, California. Trailers, announcements, and ceremonies took center stage, as Disney revealed works that would be released in the next few years. Here are a few pieces that took place that caught my attention.

MARVEL MOVIES

Superheros were not left out of the D23 announcements. The footage was revealed for the much anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, scheduled for release on November 11, 2022. The clip showed Queen Ramonda criticizing the U.N. for attempting to steal vibranium following the death of T’Challa, as well as the strength of Dora Milaje. This seems to be setting the stage for the upcoming battles with Namor and the Atlanteans.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is actually the first film released in Phase 5 of the MCU. Revealed footage showed Lang, Van Dyne and Pym being forced into the quantum realm and facing Kang the Conqueror.

Entirely shot in black and white, the Werewolf by Night follows a group of monster hunters seeking beasts that live among them. This movie is scheduled to be released in October.

The Marvels, Thunderbolts, Captain America: New World Order, and Fantastic Four all had footage revealed and further announcements about production.

MARVEL T.V

Ironheart, a television series following a superhero of the same name, has Riri Williams played by Dominique Thorne at the helm. She is also spotted in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, making her iconic Ironheart armor. The series is a sequel to Black Panther.

The Loki trailer was released for season 2, promising that Loki is back to his antics.

Echo, which was the antagonist for Hawkeye, will get her own show, and Daredevil: Born Again has Charlie Cox donning his vigilante costume again. Secret Invasion saw the return of Fury and the “invasion” of the shape-changing aliens known as the Skrull.

LIVE ACTION AND ANIMATION

Pixar announced some upcoming works as well as a surprise sequel.

Elemental, which follows two elements on the opposite side of the spectrum, must navigate their growing relationship as polar opposites.

Elio is centered around an 11-year-old boy of the same name who finds himself as the emissary for Earth after accidentally decoding a message from aliens.

Riley is back! Inside Out 2 follows a teenage Riley navigating new emotions and new challenges.

Disney+ will have some new movies and shows hitting their platform this year and in the next coming years.

Zootopia+ will arrive in November and will be a collection of shorts following the citizens of Zootopia.

Iwaju will be released in 2023 and follows an heiress named Tola and a boy names Kole.

Strange Worlds which will be in THEATERS Thanksgiving 2022 follow the Clades who are explorers.

Wish is about the star that so many of the beloved Disney characters wish upon. Set in the Kingdom of Roses, Asha sees darkness settling in the kingdom that only she sees. Making a desperate plea to the stars, an actual star (aptly named Star) falls to help Asha save the kingdom.

The sisters are back! Hocus Pocus 2 will cast a spell on Disney+ on September 30th.

Disenchanted, a surprise sequel to Enchanted, has Amy Adams, James Marsden, and Patrick Dempsey reprising their roles. It will be streaming on Disney+ in November.

Peter Pan & Wendy, Haunted Mansion, Mufasa: The Lion King, Snow White, and The Little Mermaid will be getting live-action boots.

Most releases take place in the 2023–2024 year, and some are released throughout the rest of this year.

It’s too early for me to make any clear assumptions about releases or to criticize anything. I think I’ll wait for more information to be released before I do a breakdown, or if I’m excited about anything.

The Intern It's just a rather soft and fluffy feel-good movie, kinda slice-of-life? Seriously, if you don't wanna think and just want something to lull you in, put it on. I admit it's nothing special, just. Soft.

The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea and Wolfwalkers Three lesser known animated movies that show different folk tales and mythology. The animation style is just so sweet and not your smooth Disney style and the stories are heartfelt. You need to be into it, though. If you don't like one of the movies, you probably won't like the others as well.

YouTube (I mostly follow German Let's Players, so this will be … uh … yeah)

Natalie Gold She reacts to different movies and series—she did the whole MCU and it's really entertaining as she gets completely into it.

Drawfee Show Art! They're a group of artists who work on different challenges from their community. It ranges from freaky to amazing and it's kinda like Russian Roulette which you will get per video.

Jazza More art! Jazza tests a lot of art related stuff with amazing results. Short videos and fun to watch.

Books

Tomorrow, When the War Began by John Marsden A series of seven books that are about a bunch of teenagers in Australia. A non-defined war breaks out while they're out camping in the bush. When they come back, their families got taken, foreign soldiers are running around their town, and they decide to do their damnest to get their country back.

Metro 2033 by Dmitry Glukhovsky Dystopian story that takes place in the Moscow metro after a nuclear fallout destroyed everything. A lot of surreal and creepy stuff happens during the story and it's really eerie. Gonna be honest, I also read the sequels but they didn't catch me as much as the first book. Still worth a read!

Night Watch by Sergei Lukyanenko A series of six urban fantasy novels about morals and right and wrong and how everything is a grey area, really. Only books I could really stomach in first person, 'cause the whole issue is so goddamn interesting.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell You have probably heard of this one. It's just cute, I think, a nice book that's not too heavy. Dealing with growing up, kinda coming-of-age young adult book.

“Thor: Love and Thunder” is flashy fun

To everyone that thinks Thor: Love and Thunder is proof that the MCU is losing it, I hate to break it to you, but that ship has already sailed.

However, in my opinion, Thor: Love and Thunder was much better than Multiverse of Madness. A lot bar to set it at, but it works.

Phase 4 has been a mixed bag, to say the least. Shang-Chi and Spider-Man: No Way Home were the standouts, but aside from those successes, the MCU has has been losing it since Avengers: Endgame, which would have been great if it hadn’t been for the ending.

Thor: Love and Thunder continues in the more colorful direction that Taika Watiti took in Thor: Ragnarok. Post Thanos, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has been palling around with the Guardians of the Galaxy. While he has regained his godly physique, he’s still pretty lost. That feeling only increases when he and Ragnarok rock buddy Korg (voiced by Waiti) return to New Asgard and encounter its new protector--none other than Thor’s ex Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who has been given the powers of Thor through Mjolnir.

Yes, Jane’s back. And it’s great to see Natalie Portman finally getting to have fun after being written out so unceremoniously in previous movies. The internet has already obsessed over her arms and the rapport she has with King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson). Unfortunately, if you are semi-aware of the comics storyline, there is a catch to her new powers, and if you’re still seething over how Wanda was written in Multiverse of Madness....well, let’s just say the MCU really needs to reevaluate how it treats its female characters.

Don’t worry, Jane isn’t an Evil Thor. The villain of the story is Gorr (Christian Bale), a former acolyte using a magic sword to rid the universe of all its gods. Bale is good, but I’m really getting tired of how the MCU insists on woobifying villains. That plot is one of the many reasons why the film fails where Ragnarok succeeded. Hela didn’t need a stupid tragic backstory, she was just evil and loving it.

Fans are split on how Waiti handles the Thor movies. Either you love the fun or you think it’s gotten too silly. I fall into the latter group. That being said, I have the feeling Feige or the other executives preventing Waiti from doing everything he wanted to do with this movie. For example, we were promised Valkyrie, who is bisexual, would get to find her queen. That unfortunately doesn’t happen.

Has the MCU lost its magic? Maybe. But Thor: Love and Thunder is a good time, warts and all. It’s more interested in fun than it is in MCU fan service, and that’s not a bad thing. In short, I walked out feeling the exact same way I felt about Avengers Endgame: I enjoyed everything except the ending.
