Apothecary diaries is a hidden gem!

A short and quick summary plus me being obsessed with it.

The story involves Maomao an apothecary raised in the red light district, she then gets kidnapped and made to work as a maid in the imperial court. Her intelligence and talent are later recognized and she starts being asked to solve various strange things happening in that side of the castle. There are many secrets and conspiracies going around involving people or varios position and powers. This is based on historical Chinese period may I add which is very important to remember since it ask a lot of context.

Ok I know it was very superficial but I want people to give it a chance. This story is something I dint thought I’ll love so much but it truly is an amazing story. At first the anime was marketed kind of like a Shoujo? At least from the previews I saw before which couldn’t be farther from the truth. Contrary to the artstyle and colors, this is not a rose colored shoujo! This story covers real issues involving sex work, social classes, how woman are treated in history overall. Jinshi, the male lead, is someone who supports the main character well and is not there only for the tension. This is a drama mystery that can seem pretty simple at the start but it unfolds beautifully into more lore that just grabs at you and you can’t look away.

Now I may be biased because I love and consume other historical Chinese media like MXTX novels but I would say that I had absolutely no expectations for this series when I started it. In fact I only did start it because of a friend convincing me to watch it with them and I couldn’t be more glad we did. If you are someone who is into Josei or pretty realistic mysteries I think you would enjoy this story.

this is late and May be a hot take but the Golden Globes should have gone with Nimona instead of Wish for best animated film, not that it would be a guarantied win or anything cause Across the Spiderverse is on there or because they have a second entry with Elemental being on there but mainly because Wish is just so cookie cutter Boring. and that's definity been a big problem with Disney as of late that I mentioned with one of my previous posts about Wish but Wish has just been one of the most Egregious examples of this.

Because the thing with Nimona was that it had an interesting story, interesting characters and isn't the same characteristics that have been slapped onto the lead since 2010.

cause these other companies (Dreamworks, Netflix, etc.) have actually been taking risks with making their stories instead of "trying to appeal to everyone" cause as we've seen, it just simply doesn't work.

okay so I know I said I loved all of rwby but I do have one itsy bitsy tiny problem with it. I didn't really like volume 9. Like I was living for all the bumbleby scenes and that being this calm and optimistic leader was actually getting to Ruby but I just didn't really find it as interesting as the other seasons I guess?? My main thing was I didn't like her "death" scene. The build up was incredible she was upset, and alone, and scared, and everyone she failed was there watching her, mocking her. It was like so good when she drunk the tea I felt that shit. But it was what happened after that bothered me. Like I don't know it felt like no one was really giving it the dramatics it deserved. Like did you not hear Juan the tree leads to death, she supposedly killed herself and it was like the weight of that hadn't gotten to the rest of them. Like I was waiting for Yang to fall to the side of the floor where her sister decided to drink the tea. I was waiting for tears to brim her eyes as she realized she's lost yet another person. What lead to the relationship between Blake and her to begin with was that feeling of loss and abandonment. Her mom left her, Ruby's mom "left" them both, and Blake ran away. And now Ruby's is gone, and it was her choice. No one killed her, she drunk the tea, she looked her dead in the eyes and drunk it. I wanted some sort of anger, or realization of just how bad things were to the point that she wanted become anyone other than herself. Yang was supposed to look after her, but she wasn't there when Ruby's needed her most. Yang devoted her entire childhood to make sure Ruby was safe and yet missed the pain she was going through right in front of her. I wanted anger, and grief, and guilt, not only from Yang but the entire team. I wanted Jaun to have to pull Yang away from the spot on the floor. I wanted Blake to confort her even though inside she was in tears too. I wanted Weiss to realize that this dolt that she's come to truly care for, and who's changed her life to come to the realization that even if she's fine, she could be someone entirely different. I don't know I just wanted more from that scene. It was the second time that same day that the tree had taken from Jaun so yeah I wanted more.

I'm just going to say this.

It's very sad how it's being normalized by some of you to find fault in every thing that Tim does when it comes to Lucy. It's almost like you expect a certain perfection and delicacy when it comes to her, mostly because you see and only like Tim as an extension of Lucy not as a whole character outside of the ship.

An example is with this episode how some people turned him saying "Don't tell Chen" into something negative. Here is this man on the floor—terrified and he finds it in him to make sure added stress isn't put on Lucy who is navigating a new stressful role but somehow its seen as him not thinking she's tough in enough? As if you don't have 4 seasons worth of him out loud acknowledging how strong and smart she is? As if his belief in her and respect of her isn't the reason he has treated her more like a partner instead of a subordinate?

Same thing for him not telling Lucy that Ashley broke up with him. Like if you look at this situation outside of Chenford you'd maybe sympathize with the fact that he probably didn't want to talk about it and hadn't processed someone else—yet again walking out on him and I think it was also him trying not to upset Lucy bc of course she would have been upset on his behalf.

The uproar of the car scene in the previous episode with the whole Rosaline situation was insane actually! Because Tim of all people wouldn't take Lucy's trauma lightly. But facial expressions somehow erased all the good and care and belief Tim has in Lucy? We have seasons worth of him being there for her. Even in that car, you could tell how he was silently worried about her. The insults are thrown even at Angela and Nyla—somehow that they've always been mean but look at Nyla this episode holding up the mirror for Lucy to see herself how everyone sees her.

Or how some got mad at that silly joke of a proposal to Ashley or even him asking Lucy to go to UC—which was him yet again looking at for her.

Tim is grump🤷🏾‍♀️, So maybe don't take some of his expressions too seriously—rather his actions. And don't project how you want him to react instead look at how a man like him—with his characteristics would react.

Both of them —in their fictional world are human and they won't everything correct always and we've seen Lucy unintentionally hurt Tim that's bc they are both not perfect.

I get having a favorite but This man loves Lucy. He has selflessly been there for her and helped her with her career—his need to protect her is even one of the big reasons why he might be hesitant about them being together. But he is so in love with her—he isn't ready to say it out loud because her its scary and he still doesn't think Lucy feels the same way but we've seen it in his actions time and Tim again. So idk— stop trying to find something negative where there isn't any🤷🏾‍♀️

Yeah this is about terms like narcissistic and sociopath/psychopath.

Literally saw someone try to say why using narcissistic in that way wasn't right cause of the stigma it cause folks with NPD and got hit with the "but it's true."

I always think leftists might understand better since, you know, nuance and actual conversations about shit, but nah. I'm just so numb to it at this point. Even if you say "hey this is stigmatizing to people with personality disorders" no one gives a shit.

Even in left leaning spaces it's bad. This could easily go for other disabilities/neurodivergencies too especially with ones that aren't as understood or common knowledge.

I'm just kinda tired of it. So I come here for some actual good narcissism positivity cause I'm tired of dramatically playing the evil scary narcissist when all I do is hug plushies, cry over my bed not being perfect, and get fatigued easily and demand attention from my close loved ones.

I mean, there's tons of problems in left leaning spaces (lots of issues because people think thay because they're left leaning suddenly they're immune to internalized shit and any other problematic behaviour), but this is one that grinds my gears. Not even the left spaces, which are supposed to be more accepting of ND folks, listen to people with PDs. Yo, I'm tired of my disorder being fucking used as an insult. Egotistical, self centered, arrogant, full of themselves. There are so many other words you can use, but you use the one directly associated with a personality disorder and one highly stigmatized as evil, heartless, cold, unempathetic, selfish, and abusive. Like could you not even try to listen?

This is mostly about NPD, but I hear the word psychopath thrown around a lot as well. And I'm just sitting there like "Yeah, I technically know 'psychopaths' since I know peeps with ASPD, but sure. Let's use it as an insult for an extremely bigoted person or an actual sex offender."

I'm just tired of it. Tumblr is like the one space where I don't feel crazy for it. Honestly.

Another reason I ship Edt3 is because when I see full on romantic art of just Eddy and Double D… it feels wrong to me. I feel upset that Ed is left out. Plus, getting rid of one of the Ed boys just ruins the whole purpose of this show. They’re called Ed, Edd n Eddy for a reason. One without the other two and two without the other one breaks the dynamic and breaks it hard. It’s not just that they have to be together, they NEED each other. That’s the genius of it.
