>:) at long last:

So much to talk about in this scene, first and foremost that the anime actually moved the return-to-court bit around a little; in the manga ten’s initial unveiling of the coded message is paired with the ‘why are you standing’ line (as a chapter ending), but here we get her whole explanation of the code itself before checking in with its mastermind, and then the entire declaration-of-intent as one scene :D and what a scene, omg, the dead silence in the room as ryo fui begins his interrogation and gets his answer, the weight of every little motion… it’s the perfect staging for a sequence that is first and foremost about shou hei kun’s extreme dignity and composure, despite the fact that this as an absurdly dramatic situation that he’s orchestrated himself (sai taku’s comment on his unexpected boldness lol. but, as with most of his other plans, it’s just a matter of the most grandiose route also being the most practical one in this situation — his conversation with shou bun kun outside of court definitely suggests that it would actually have been unsafe for him to defect from ryo fui’s faction earlier — though he also could’ve done it like years earlier, up to and including Literally During The Coalition Invasion, but for all that I think the loyalty ri shi was discussing here really did linger..), especially with ri shi’s tantrum about his betrayal to emphasize it lol
tho I will say… ryo fui is just as much the star of the show here, once again. His response to shou hei kun’s wonderfully understated statement-of-intent is one of his finest scenery-chewing monologues of all time..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even with so many odds against him and such a wide variety of circumstances bearing down, he’s still definitively a man who hasn’t lost yet :-)
I also want to discuss his goofy metaphor abt the four pillars just being useless trinkets to him, though, specifically just this one line of it —
Tumblr media
— because i think this is as close as he ever gets to acknowledging that he really has lost not one but two of them here :) If I’m recalling correctly, mou bu’s withdrawal from the pillars is never litigated or even mentioned, it’s just implicit that he (like sai taku) seamlessly becomes a member of sei’s faction after ryo fui’s fall from grace, but I think ryo fui knows both him and shou hei kun well enough to know that losing shou hei kun’s loyalty naturally means he’s also lost mou bu’s along with it, and that he’s realized that when he says this line :~) which especially funny considering that his plan in large part relied on the timing of the mou bu army’s arrival (just a little too late to save the royal family, which is such a tasty parallel to the hi shin unit’s primary goal of Not Being Too Late This Time) — they won’t make it on time, but shou hei kun will!
Also, the anime staff gave us a little original additional sequence this week —
Tumblr media
A little check-in with rou ai, in case you’d forgotten where he was located on the battlefield, or what a miserable time he’s having there :’)
also here’s a ruki cap for the road because i’m continually floored by how endearing han oyako are in the anime lol

Cute!!

Hakuoki Shinkai Tenun no Shou Stellaworth Booklet "Her Long Day" Part 1
Sorry this is late... but I was pretty busy yesterday, and I likely will have to push next week's translation to the following Monday or Tuesday as I'll be travelling soon and won't have access to my laptop for a period of time... alternatively, I'll just translate more next Thursday because this story has 12 sections, one for each of the routes.
Though I'm having eye problems again so maybe not... 😢
Hakuoki Shinkai Tenun no Shou Stellaworth Booklet "Her Long Day" Part 1
translation by KumoriYami
Note up top... so before all the "x character moment" text, there's a term... which I'm not entirely sure what to do with. I'm pretty sure there are Japanese equivalents of what the hour ranges are referred to, but I've left them as they are in Chinese since I'm not sparing time to fix things right now but the range of time themselves are then specified in the "《X~Y o'clock》" part that follows after. I have no idea if it's like that in the booklet, but as it was in the tl I translated, I decided to keep it as is.
Maoshi · Souma Moment 《5~7 o'clock》
Everyday, I always begin with hearing birdsongs.
"......Nn.....Nnn......"
The singing voices of the sparrows that rested in the backyard served in place as an alarm clock and reverberated into my eyes.
I wanted to sleep a bit more, I tried to say so as my eyelids fluttered...
The hazy morning light came in through the sliding door and caressed my cheeks.
"......Is it.... morning..... already.......?"
To be honest, I didn't sleep last well last night, but it was my turn to cook breakfast today….
As someone in the care of the Shinsengumi, I can't procrastinate.
"Alright, i need to go wash my face...!"
I got up, and straightened myself up.
After getting dressed, I went into the corridor and the cool morning air enveloped my body.
Everyone was still sleeping, so I need to be careful to not wake them up.
As I thought that while walking toward the well, I was startled by a sound coming from the courtyard.
"——Hei! Ha! Huah!"
"....Huh, Souma-kun?"
His sword carved an arc of light and shadow, repeatedly tearing through the early morning air.
I was drawn to the by the unembellished shining blade without any confusion [???], and stared intently at Souma-kun, who after noticing my presence, stopped training.
"Ah, Yukimura-senpai. Good morning."
"Nn, good morning… You've started training this early?"
"Yes. I wanted to move my body before everyone gets up."
"Even so, you woke up early, right…"
It was almost an hour before everyone else would wake up.
Originally, pages slept later than others due to being busy with chores. Could Souma-kun still rest properly after waking up so early...?
Souma-kun didn't seem to see my concerns, and clenched his fists energetically as he spoke.
"My swordsmanship can't be compared to other people's, so even if it's only for a short while, I don't want to lose out on an opportunity to practise."
"That's why you're already practising...?"
"Yes! One day, I'm going to catch up with everyone…!"
"......How dazzling......"
I unconsciously said that.
Regardless of what happens to us two in the Shinsengumi, he will surely be able to show that dazzling smile I admire while at my side..
"And if I wake up early, I can see Senpai. That's also one of the reasons."
"See me?….You can see me at any time…."
"But, if the first person I see of the day is Senpai, there will be special sense of accomplishment."
"......."
"What is it, Senpai?"
"No, it's nothing. I just think I should be working harder!"
"??"
Souma-kun occasionally things that make people feel embarrassed like this.
For the sake of preventing others from noticing the embarassmened expression on my face this morning, I decided to quickly wash my face.
Chenshi·Toudou Moment《7~9 o'clock》
I washed my face by the well, did up my hair into a bun, and freshened up again.
I renewed my spirit and left for the kitchen which was located at the corner of headquarters.
Ultimately, the Shinsengumi is a large organization, and the number of executives and soldiers alone is quite a lot.
That's why cooking duty is done by several alternating members…
"......Hey, Chizuru."
"What is it, Heisuke-kun?"
"Isn't it torture to ask me to make breakfast while I'm hungry…?"
Heisuke-kun was in charge of breakfast with me today, looked unhappy for some reason.
To be precise, his salivating face seemed somewhat resentful as he stared at the large pot.
"What's wrong with you? You seem more haggard this morning than usual…"
"Uh… I haven't eaten anything since lunch yesterday…"
"Eh…!? You didn't eat dinner yesterday?"
As I recalled dinner last night, I turned my head.
It's true that the Eigth Division's patrol was extended last nigt and they couldn't make it to dinner, but its members had rice balls that they could take back to their rooms… In that case…
"Yeah, I got some rice balls, but on my way back to my room, I noticed a stray cat in the courtyard. Since I felt sorry for it, I shared my rice balls with it."
"In that case, couldn't you have gone to explain that to get another one…?"
"I thought that too, but wasn't Takeda-san in charge of dinner yesterday?"
"Ah..."
"Anyway you must be lying about eating, right? When he said that, he wouldn't give me another one."
“……”
It's true that Heisuke-kun sometimes steals food.
So it's not unreasonable to doubt him from his normal behaviour.
But....
"....Heisuke-kun."
I looked around.
After confirming that there wasn't anyone, I secretly handed him the tamagoyaki that I just made.
"Chizuru...""
"This was just made... eat it while it's still hot."
"Ah, uh…. but is this really okay? Don't you normally get angry when I swipe food…?"
"...Today's circumstances are special. Furthermore, this is just a sample for you to taste, that's all."
It's really pitiful to have done something that was obviously good, but not have enough to eat.
Heisuke-kun stuffed a piece of tamagoyaki into his mouth with moist eyes.
"Delicious…! Thank you, Chizuru. I love this sweet/gentle and soft part of you!"
"Love....?"
"Ah————no, although I said love, I however actually meant this/mean um. I mean there's nothing special!"
"Hm...?"
"Al-Alright, I'm full of energy again, so let's hurry up and prepare breakfast!"
For some reason, Heisuke-kun seemed to be a bit flustered, but he finally regained his spirits.
In order to not lose to him, I also turned around to face the large pot.
----to be continued---
sorry, i meant to do three of these, but i'm short on time right now and trying to rush something else.... (┬┬﹏┬┬)
Also tamagoyaki are a type of Japanese omelettes.

Rarepair HinaYama, where Hinata starts to walk with Yama, and Tsukki and the rest of the team just thinks Yama is helping him study. Since no one voiced it, the pair though the team knew. But one day, maybe outside Ukai's shop, eating meat buns, Hinata jumps on Yama's back and kisses his cheeks and complementing him on his serves. When the team is over their shock, Yama explains (blushing hard) that they though the team just knew since they have been hanging out so much :P
Bro this is some good shit that’s so me good shit right there whooooo
“Yamaguchi-kun and Hinata are pretty close, aren’t they?”
“Hm? Yeah, I guess?”
Tsukishima shifts under Tanaka’s arm, uncomfortable at the touch. “When’d that happen? I’ve been so busy with the new vice captain job to notice.”
“What do you mean? Yamaguchi’s always tutored Hinata, he’s just doing it more now since we’re doing pretty good as a team and need him on it.” Tsukishima’s brows furrow at the implications.
“If you say so, but I see what I see.” Tanaka wanders off, following the team out of the gym.
-
“I could’ve sworn I saw Yamaguchi and Hinata holding hands today.”
“Yes, Tanaka, because Yamaguchi was settling Hinata’s nerves for the game. You’re lucky he didn’t puke again.” Ennoshita doesn’t look up from his book, and Tanaka’s baseless accusation earns a snicker from Hisashi.
“Hey, now, I’m being serious. I mentioned it to Tsukishima, but he said that they’re just friends. I’m not sure that’s the case!” Tanaka insists.
“And if they are? It’s not our place to go asking them if they are.”
“I’m just-- Come on, we should know, don’t you think? What if they get into a fight? That could affect the team!”
“Those two? Yamaguchi hates getting yelled at, and Hinata knows that if he were to get anyone taller than him upset he’d be crushed like a bug.”
“Guys! I’m serious!”
“We really don’t believe it, Tanaka. Sorry.”
-
“Tadashi!”
“W- Wait, Shou, my drink--” Yamaguchi’s drink half spills onto the ground when Hinata jumps onto his back, but he still allows it with a tired sigh. There’s a collective gasp as Hinata presses a kiss to Yamaguchi’s cheek.
“...I was fuckin’ right!”

"I need a date for my cousin's wedding," Aizawa slammed the door to the staff room open when Yagi was mid-bite of his mushed-up banana. "Hello to you too," he swallowed, feeling his eyebrow raise on its own accord. "She is pestering me to bring a date because apparently if I don't show some sign of getting into a relationship in the next year, she is going to set me up with her god-awful friend." Resisting a laugh, Yagi placed his spoon down nice and slow, the blush raising from Aizawa's face looking awfully pretty.
"Why me? Why not Hizashi or Nemuri?" he asked, genuinely curious by the whole situation. "My cousin knows me long enough to know I am not dating Hizashi... and Midnight will make me dance."
"Okay," Yagi felt a smile start to grow on his face. "When?" Aizawa let out a minuscule sigh in relief. "Saturday. Wear something nice." With that he stormed out, slamming the door behind him. How sweet, Yagi grinned to himself, shoving mushy scoops of food back in his mouth.
"Can we train at the beach on Saturday?" Midoriya asked as they sparred on the training grounds during lunch break. "I want to work on my new leg powered blows." Kneeing him in the side and dodging an uppercut, Yagi frowned. "I'm sorry, my boy, I won't be able to meet you this Saturday." Swinging a low hit to his chest, hiding a smile when it was blocked rapidly and a counter attack struck him in the arm. "How come?" Midoriya paused in his actions, tilting his head to the side and chowing down on his lip.
"As a matter of fact, I am attending a wedding," he smiled, putting his hands on his hips and looking all proud. "A wedding?" Midoriya tugged at his sleeve. "Who? Who?" Yagi shrugged, "Aizawa-sensei has asked me to accompany him to his cousin's wedding. As a- a date, I suppose." Midoriya went quiet all of a sudden and Yagi felt unease grow in his tummy as the cogs and bolts of his student's brain worked round behind his eyes.
"Todoroki was right then," he tapped his lip, mumbling away to himself. Wait what? "Right about what?" Yagi laughed nervously, scratching lines at the back of his neck. "About y-you and Aizawa-sensei dating." Shaking his head like a maniac, Yagi felt his whole face burn with fire. "What? No! Of course not, why would you think something so silly, my boy?" Midoriya studied him, a small smile hinting across his rosy face. "Okay." He didn't even try to pretend like he believed his mentor. Damn kids.
"Midoryia thinks we are a couple," Yagi spat out, rushing to Aizawa's empty home room like a bolt of lightning. Sipping his black coffee, Aizawa didn't even look up from his papers. "Hm," he hummed, scratching at the paper with his pen here and there. "Did you hear me, Shouta-kun?" he was practically hysterical. "People thing we are dating!"
Aizawa looked up at him, blinking with his dark, shadowy eyes. "Why are you panicking? You would be very lucky to have a guy like me," he looked back at his papers, hiding a sly smile in his scarf as Yagi went from hysterical to flabbergasted in all of a few seconds, burning red with all the fires of hell. "I- I didn't say- Shouta now is not the time for jokes!"
"Never said I was joking. I would make a great boyfriend," he dead-panned and Yagi damn well nearly fainted, choking blood out like a hose around himself. "Okay, okay," Aizawa stood, walking towards him with a handful of tissues. "I'll stop," Yagi took the offered tissues gratefully and wiped at his mouth. "Thank you." Of all times Aizawa could develop a sense of humour, he chose now? "There's nothing to worry about. We are just friends- that's plain to see."
Aizawa returned to his chair and Yagi couldn't understand the strange mix of disappointment and unease at his words.
Saturday came and Yagi has dressed up in a "not ugly" suit, as per Aizawa's demands, and groomed his hair back into a bun. Finally, he had started to fill out a wee bit, all of the high-calorie drinks Recovery Girl had prescribed him and Aizawa's weekly present of some kind of sweet treat was helping him gain some much needed body fat. Looking in the mirror wasn't giving him nightmares anymore and Midoriya had taken to given him little hugs every now and then, poking him in the tummy.
A car beeped outside and Yagi took that as his cue to go. Aizawa was in the driver's seat, the scent of cologne hitting him in the face as he entered. Fuck. He looked... well, beautiful. Tight, black suit hugging his body, hair swooped back behind his ears in a ponytail, face clear and scar tracing under his eye. Bored expression planted on his face. "Hey," Yagi almost sputtered blood. "Good morning, thank you for picking me up." Aizawa sped off, rolling his shirt sleeves up, "Thanks for suffering through this with me."
Yagi sat back in his seat feeling awfully sweaty and hot and God, he should have doubled up on deodorant and cologne, if only he had known Aizawa was going to smell so... good. He didn't remember a time when Aizawa didn't smell like sleep and coffee. He tugged on his tie.
"I hate weddings," Aizawa bemoaned, fiddling with the dial for the radio and shooting out between classical and rap music. "It might be fun, Shouta-kun," Yagi stared out as rain plummeted from the heavens, the wipers on the car waving frantically. "Hm," Aizawa hummed doubtfully.
At the reception they stood around, sipping on champagne and Yagi fended off advances from all of Aizawa's great aunts and elderly neighbours. "Oh, we have to fatten him up, don't we Shou-chan," his grandmother had Yagi wrapped up in her big arms. "Yes, I know." Aizawa muttered, boredly, seemingly ignoring Yagi's flustering. "How long have you both been together?" A younger lady asked, a hand on her heart. "Oh," Aizawa scratched at his head. "I don't know. It is a fairly new thing." All of the elders scolded him and the young girl snickered. "The youth of today! Romance is dead!" Grandmother looked just ready to faint.
"You are awful at this," Yagi said, cornering him in the restroom as Aizawa dried his hands. "Fake relationships? I am sorry, I forgot you are an expert, apparently." Yagi rolled his eyes, "Very funny. I'm not an expert in real ones, never mind fake ones. In fact I'd say you were still in middle school when I last had a date."
Aizawa coughed. "Don't be so creepy. You sound like such an old man," Yagi raised an eyebrow in semi-flirtation, "I'm sorry, I thought your type was the older men." Scoffing, Aizawa grabbed him by the tie, "Shut it." Oh God. His heart let out a shuddering beat. Blood gushed through heaving veins and arteries. This couldn't be good for his blood pressure. "Come on, I suppose we had better show our faces for a bit longer."
Aizawa began to play the role of doting date, so very well, that Yagi found himself involuntarily swooning. "More wine?" his hand on the small of Yagi's back. "I'm sure you would like to try some cake?" All of it was fake, teasing, but he could tell his friend was revelling in the embarrassed flush on his face at the cooing of his relatives. "Here you are," he handed Yagi another glass of champagne. Stars floated around his head. "Thank you." Is this what Aizawa would be like as a partner? Why was he even thinking about this?
Soft music began to flutter into the room like waves upon the shore. Bride and groom, gushing with love and their new found joy with one another took their first dance on the hall in front of everyone, enveloping eachother and swaying in time to the music. Yagi watched them and wondered would he ever have something like that? Likely not, with the decline of his health and the rapid acceleration of his age, it didn't seem like he had enough time.
"What's wrong?" Aizawa had been staring at him, the act gone now that his elders had their focus on the lovely couple. "No, nothing. Just thinking," he gave a slight smile. "Thinking about what?" Aizawa pressed gently, twitch of concern pinched in between his brows. Others began to join the wedding party on the dance floor, coupling up and relaxing to the music. "I suppose I was thinking how I will never have that," he nodded towards the couple. After beat, Aizawa raised his eyebrow. "Why would you want to?" Yagi supposed he was too young to understand what it was like to watch your life slipping out from between your fingers like sand. "I don't know, the experience. Of having someone who loves you whole-heartedly."
"That's just the champagne talking," Aizawa muttered, scratching at his trouser leg with more force than needed. "Surely you know you are loved." Yagi smiled sadly, Aizawa cutting him off with an angry snap. "I'm not saying any more soppy things, get that miserable look off your face and come and dance with me."
"D-dance?" Yagi blinked as the man climbed to his feet and held out an expectant hand. "Has the old age made you hard of hearing? Yes, dance. Come on." What was going on?
Aizawa tugged him huffily towards the dance floor, wrapping his hands around Yagi's waist and allowing them to move gingerly to the beat of the music. "This is awful," Aizawa muttered, nose brushing Yagi's cheek. "Worst experience of my life, by far." Feeling a light giggle flutter it's way out of his chest, Yagi sunk into his embrace. "I agree, truly terrible."

Stars Align 2 - 3 | BnHA 65 - 66 | Iruma-kun 3 - 4 | Shinchou Yuusha 3 | Dr Stone 16 | No Guns Life 3
Stars Align 2
The first episode I saw at the anime club, so I’ve skipped straight to ep 2 for the coverage.
Hmm? I thought this would cut to the OP…it didn’t.
Oh, poor Maki! He has a slap mark on his face!
Why is it uniforms are so gendered anyway? Not just sports ones. (It might be because I’m so used to wearing other people’s hand me downs, regardless of their gender, but…yeah.)
The real tennis-playing dude is Kei Nishikori…LOL.
That’s the 3rd Ishigami for this season, methinks. (The others hail from Dr Stone.)
Come to think of it, the most I’ve ever done in one shot is 10 laps of a court (and that was with lots of practice). 20 would be torture…
The animation…where it goes black and white…that’s awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee, y’know???
I like how Maki’s just splat on the ground without his hands to support him.
Windows tablet with stand. I’ve seen those in stores and catalogues before…they should run Windows 7 at the bare minimum, 8 or 10 if they’re newer.
Maki’s top says “continue” on it. It’s a good shirt for a boy that really does continue, despite his hardships.
I-Is Maki’s mother having an affair…? With Shou? Or is Shou a good friend of hers who happens to be male?
The way Toma wears his jacket…it reminds me of Chuuya (BSD). Pretty badass for a middle school kid, don’tcha think?
Kenkou = health, so a squishy ball is a health ball…makes sense. It’s good for the circulation and all that.
When Toma started explaining the grips…I realised I’d fallen into what I just called the Tsuritama trap…that is, when I watch a show for entertainment and end up learning about skills I’ll never need in the process.
Both boys are righthanded, I noticed.
Didn’t notice at first, but Toma put the ball in his pocket.
Is it just me or is there CGI in this show…? (That’s a feeling I’ve had since ep 1, but haven’t been able to confirm since it’s so well integrated.)
Hmm…I heard there was plagiarism going around with this show’s choreography…I didn’t see the Chika dance in context, so I wouldn’t know if it was copied from there. Still, it’s interesting how the guy on the left (if there is one) generally does better than the one on the right. Some of them just give up in the end, LOL.
Hmm…Hoshiai no Sora means “The Sky where Stars Line Up” or something of the sort…hence, “Stars Align”.
“Even in an ever-changing world, the starlit sky will not change.” – That’s the words that sometimes accompany the title.
BnHA 65
Yeah, how are the League any different to the yakuza anyway?
The interesting thing is that Deku also has “power he can’t control”, but we see more of that narrative.
I love how Mic’s words were put into the visuals too, culminating in the “HA!”.
Okay, so Togata’s pun is that he’ll ittemirio, a pun on his name (obviously) and ittemiro (let’s go see). The English says I Togata see, which keeps his name in there and keeps the level of cheesiness to boot! Good job subbers! (By the way, that pun’s not in the manga.)
I already know what happens in this arc (thank you, free Viz chapters!), so now I have this sinking feeling when it comes to talking about Nighteye…
Apparently Bubble Girl was a winning design from a competition. Sorta like how Horikoshi appeared in One Piece one time and that, you could say, was the start of his career in print (so it’s a legacy in a sense).
Iruma-kun 3
Oh hey, I just realised Asmodeus’s nails are bright red…that’s kinda cute, actually. (In that “boys are hot” kinda “cute” sense, people.)
I have no idea what the lyrics to Clara’s song are meant to be in Japanese…not that I could track down whatever the heck she’s singing anyway.
Okay, so “play house” appears to be mamagoto (literally “mother’s thing[s]” (in a metaphorical sense, playing house is replicating mothers’ chores, so…yeah, mothers’ things), but it’s got the character for “demon” twice instead of what it should have. Hence “murder house”.
Hey, couldn’t you at least make Azz-Azz (as you call him) your husband?(!) (small LOL)
Demonathon = marathon, but with the character for “demon”. That’s actually straightforward in both languages…for once.
The alarm clock is a cute bird with horns!!! So cute!!!
I feel sorry for Opera. Which reminds me, why would Sullivan need a butler if he was living alone?
Whoa! Iruma actually refused before Clara said “please”! He’s growing a spine! So early…(whispers “My boy is growing up so fast…” as a joke)
Clara’s nails are a bright pink…a few shades off from Asmodeus’s red, but still really bright.
*vending machine appears* - Now that’s what I call “getting Yocchan some cold drinks”!
Azz isn’t dressed in white, he’s in pink! Dang colour palette, going against what Clara says!
I just realised Asmodeus wears two jackets…or is that a jacket and a long shirt?
There’s no pun in that segment title…it’s just “Akuma no Otomodachi”.
Poor Opera…it looks like he’s wearing two pairs of pants…or maybe that’s his shirt? Or his boxers? Who knows?...Actually, when I think about it, that might just be his shirt. Sorry, Opera.
Wait…so if most of the demons fly to school, why do Asmodeus, Clara and Iruma walk…? (Well, Iruma can’t fly, but the other two might be able to…) Update: We do kind of address this in the next ep, but that doesn’t answer why Clara hasn’t shown she can fly in that ep.
Oh, if it isn’t Sna-er, Kalego…(LOL) But seriously, Kalego’s hairdo is actually kinda nice for a guy. Then again, I’m the one who likes dudes with long hair, so…eh. I can take it or leave it.
Did Kalego never meet Clara…?
Eggie-sensei…no kidding, that’s what she says. It’s from the –ego in “Kalego”, of course. (But I have no idea if “Azz-Azz” is what Clara actually says for Asmodeus…) Similarly, the school store guy is called Kamukamu-san, so it’s literally “Comecome”...as in “come and buy from me”. Update: Yes, Azz-Azz is what she calls him.
There aren’t a lot of girls in that crowd, Eggie-sensei and Clara…
Eggie-sensei really is shaped like an egg! So fluffy! I wanna plushie of him in that form!
Wait, the sticker costs 333 bills? Iruma’s gonna have to pay for it later…Update: 2 stickers = 666 bills.
“Pay me.” – LOLLLLLLLLLLL! I’m so sorry, Fluffy Snape, but you were hilarious in that scene!!!
Demons don’t even have the concept of “friends”…? That’s…cute! Way too cute!
The mochi Clara refers to is because tomodachi is the word for friend (it has “mochi” in it, see?).
There’s Sullivan’s face on his stamp, LOL.
See? Asmodeus does have black wings like the demons you see in all those morning shots of this show!!!
Dr Stone 16
Byakuya (Senku’s dad)…his face keeps getting censored, even though it’s right there on the spinoff promo material…! *points to the spinoff page on Viz*
The piano music in this scene is nice…I heard the OST is on Spotify too, so I’ll chase it up later.
“Senku, the science guy” doesn’t have as much of a ring to it as Bill Nye does.
Taiju’s just got this proud face, like he didn’t really know what he was doing but he claimed the credit anyway…the big oaf. (LOL)
There’s a banana on Senku’s phone, LOL.
Hmm…where’s Senku’s mum? Did he ever have one?
Shamil’s face looks like Tsukasa’s so much, it almost unnerves me…
[TMS Football Stadium] - TMS is responsible for this anime adaption, I’m pretty sure…LOL.
A Byakuya reboot just started in manga form. I wonder if the Dr Stone anime will cover any of it…?
BnHA 66
Notably, “hero work studies” = hero internships. Those two translations seem to be interchangeable.
Normally, the end of the phrase would be “Boy Meets Girl”, right? There’s an important girl in this arc, y’know?
The contract is kind of hard to read, but I did make out the word “Nighteye” in katakana.
Technically, Midoriya should be in possession of a funny bone - the humerus, y’know??? (<- comically missing the point)
Mirio kinda reminds me of Araki (Area no Kishi), for some reason…it must be because they both like comedy. Then again, Midoriya at the moment is reminding me of Bakugo, because of all the mouth shapes being similar…
This is interesting. In the manga, the scene pointing out Ochako and Tsuyu weren’t going to be at their original internship places wasn’t at the dorms.
Ooh! They’re even foreshadowing Hawks, which wasn’t even in the manga at this stage!!
I do believe this “Hado and Amajiki talking to the students who’ll be relevant to this arc” is also anime-original. Todoroki’s joke was definitely AO (anime original).
Shinchou Yuusha 3
…can we not with the boob jokes??? Rista doesn’t have a flat board, people. Update: She also acknowledges this…we don’t know Aria’s size, but Rista is a D cup.
Oooh, oooooooooooh! I spy a ponytail boy in the back there and me likey! (I guess I’m still feeling a bit bummed out because I attended a wedding yesterday and ended up crushing on a cousin’s younger brother-in-law – precisely because he had long hair, but then he put it up into a man bun and I went, “Nope, I can’t have him,” not to mention he’s married already. Plus the Area no Kishi episode I found today – ep. 30 – had a kinda chubby Araki, so I noped out of it and as a result, I need me some bishonen to appease the eyes. Good thing Seiya does the trick.)
Marth, eh? *thinks about the blogger* Then again, there’s my reaction when it comes to Ariadoa…
Oh, this is like a PreCure dance ED. I see…then it turns out to be Rista’s figure alarm. The logic checks out.
Iruma-kun 4
Seriously, Azz doesn’t sound like he should be Iruma’s age…but that’s part of the joke, I guess. *gets pelted with tomatoes for revealing said joke*
So “The Misfit Class” is technically the “Problem Child Class” (Mondaiji Kurasu), but the alternative reading given to mondaiji says “Abnormal”.
It seems “devi” is an alternative way to say “very” in this show, hence the ED being “Debikyu” (Devi Cute).
I…think these demon ranks may actually be Phonecian letters (which I learnt about from Star Driver)…
That “thinking reed” business I knew from somewhere, but…turns out it’s just a person called Blaise Pascal.
A “heugh”? Wassat? (It just sounds like some noise you’d make when you barf…) Okay, I’m joking, here’s the real meaning: “a steep crag or cliff” or “a ravine or glen with overhanging sides.”
Clara, stop fiddling with Sabrock’s tail…!
Oh, demon birds are cute! Like regular sparrows, only with a different colour scheme! The demonitors are cute too!
So many cute birds~. I’m so spoilt~!
Hmm…if humans cause demons to heal…no wonder they’re delicacies.
Hmm…I suspected this episode would end with a cliffhanger. The plotline was running far too long for just 23 mins.
Stars Align 3
Geesh, Toma’s got a huge bag…Update: (They all have huge bags, what are you saying???)
Lemme guess – I know nothing about tennis, but the best tennis doubles need good communication. I learnt that sort of thing from the Amazing Race, to be real with you.
Come to think of it…it’s always the mother with her unconditional love, huh? Any single fathers in anime? (No, I don’t mean like Father Fujimoto in Blue Exorcist – he’s an adoptive father.)
Judging from the cacti and fossils, Toma likes paleontology and biology. Or maybe that was from Ryoma…who knows?
Toma appears to have green frames for his glasses and then standard black frames.
Dang, it cut in the middle of that revelation! If this were a manga, I would’ve been chomping at the bit for the next chapter! However, it does get finished at the very end, so keep watching.
Update: There’s not a lot of music to this show…not that that’s a bad thing. It’s good for tense moments, in fact.
No Guns Life 3
This OP rocks, man!
Ayatsuri Ningyo = Manipulated Puppet. Or Puppet for Manipulation.
That thing on the door says “best luck” (daikichi). It’s a very Chinese thing to do.
His apron says “meat”. He’s probably a butcher or something.
How does a guy with a gun for a head drink coffee? (small LOL)
I remember someone called Juzo with Basket “a Nezuko cosplay”.
Does Tetsuro’s voice change for the Extended he affects with Harmony?
I noticed in the ED Juzo has an arm missing…must be important later.
I believe Mary’s shirt in the ED says “skill” or “technique” (read as “gi” or “waza”).

Hakuoki Yuugiroku 2 - 《Autumn Shinsengumi Sports Day!》—— The Second Event: Manjū Eating Competition
Here's the next part!
Also, i was planning on looking at getting some of the Munyou no Shou bonuses... but uh, then I saw the Morimyu's Op.5 stage goods, and decided I'd be going for that instead hahahaha.
Anyway, enjoy!
Hakuoki Yuugiroku 2 - 《Autumn Shinsengumi Sports Day!》—— The Second Event: Manjū Eating Competition
Translation by KumoriYami
Shinpachi: "Uoah——I'm stuffed! In this state, I'm ready for the next competition, which I will naturally be winning!"
Harada: "That said, you ate too much, Shinpachi. You even took portions from Heisuke and Souji."
After he finished eating a delicious lunch, he touched his stomach, which was bursting.
Harada and Nagakura, after fully satisfying their appetites, were slapping their bellies to prepare for the next match, and then stood up.
Harada: "Alright, let's go, Shinpachi. The next match is our turn——"
Sannan: "——Ah, Harada-kun, Nagakura-kun, please wait a moment. If you don't mind, please eat this."
Sannan smiled as he handed both of them fragrant and soft manjūs.
Seeing the fragrant manjūs, Nagakura's eyes lit up.
Shinpachi: "Oh, this is the after-meal dessert!"
Harada: "Pardon me, Sannnan-san. I won't hold back."
Sannan: "Hehe, I'm honoured that you both feel so happy eating. So how about eating another one?"
Shinpachi: "Hm? Of course I'd be happy to… but it's really strange that Sannan-san's in such a good mood today."
Sannan: "Is that so? Then since I'm in a good mood, i've give you both another one."
Harada: "Ah, uh, but if I have another..."
Sannan: "Two, three, four, five..."
Shinpachi: "Wa-Wait! Please wait, Sannan-san!"
Nagakura hurriedly spoke to stop him, but it was too late. Sannan ignored the two's attempts to stop him, and brought one manjū out after the other.
The other party's behaviour was completely unstoppable, and in an instant, the two could only a see a mountain of manjū in front of them.
Harada: "H-Hey, Sannan-san, no matter how you put it, isn't this too many…?"
Sannan: "No, no, you don't need to hold back. In any case, this is the next competition——【Manjū Eating Competition】".
Both: "......What?"
The two looked in the direction the smiling Sannan was pointing towards, and saw Amagiri seated in front of an equally huge pile of manjū, silently eating them in large mouthfuls.
Sannan: "Oya, you two have already eaten a lot."
Harada: "Wh-Wh-What...!"
Shinpachi:"Wa-Wait! Why should people be eating manjūs right after they've finished eating! This is absolutely not normal!"
Sannan: "Hehe, this is a special medicine to deal with those who always steal food from other people's bowls. In any case, both of you, please do your best."
After saying what he wanted, Sannan turned around and immediately left.
With his gaze following his back, Harada and Nagakura [changed this. The more accurate wording would be "Harada and the others" or "Harada and them" but that makes no sense here] were stunned as they surveyed how steep the pile of manjūs before them were——
Shinpachi: "Th-This is the sixth..."
Harada: Are you still alive, Shinpachi... I, I'm on my eighth..."
Amagiri: "Are you both alright? I believe it would be best to withdraw?"
Shinpachi: "Hmph, that's what we should be saying…"
After roughly 38 minutes after the competition started, in contrast to the still calm Amagiri, Harada and Nagakura, who were supposedly affected from how they had stuffed themselves at lunch, continued bringing manjūs into their mouths with painful expressions on their faces.
Besides, although the taste of the manjū wasn't bad, but regardless of the number eaten, it was only natural to be disgusted by only eating manjū.
As he deliriously reached out for another manjū, Nagakura suddenly showed a surprised expression.
Shinpachi: "….Oh, what's this? There's a red bun mixed in here."
Harada" "That?" It was probably mixed in to keep people from getting bored?"
Amagiri: "But compared to normal red and white manjū, that is strangely too red…"
Specifically, it was the same colour as the poisonous fly agaric mushroom.
Harada: “…………”
Shinpachi: "Fo-Forget it, as long as I can win this match, I'll eat whatever this is! I'll swallow it all!"
Ignoring Harada and Amagiri, who had no choice but to remain silent, Nagakura brought the manjū into his mouth.
—一In a split second——
Shinpachi: "——UAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Suddenly, a mournful cry was accompanied by Nagakura's entire body collapsing.
Seeing how Shinpachi's mouth was foaming and his entire body was convulsing, Harada's and Amagiri's faces turned pale.
Harada: "Hey, hey, Shinpachi! What's wrong!?"
Amagiri: "Could it be that these manju are poisonous? For the sake of winning this competition, to unexpectedly go as far as to poison me, I'm truly disappointed in the Shinsengumi."
Harada: "We wouldn't do that! What's more, these manjū were prepared by Sannan-san..."
As if they suddenly remembered something, the two of them panicked as they turned towards the spectators.
At the end of their line of sight was Sannan, who suddenly spoke with an enigmatic smile on his face.
Sannan: "…….Nagakura-kun……. died in vain……"
Harada: "Hold it, Sannan-san! What do you put into this!?"
Sannan: "Nothing, nothing, it's not a big deal. I just put some 【empty bamboo sticks】* into this pile of manjū, so the two you should pay attention to them."
*long T/N: So... I'm not entirely sure what this "空签" is in the text here, and I don't know of any English words that would be appropriate when the first Chinese word can mean "empty / air / sky / in vain" while the next one can mean "visa/ inscribed bamboo stick (used in divination, gambling, drawing lots etc) / small wood sliver / label / tag"
After saying that, Sannan turned away and left again.
Squinting at the miserable Nagakura whose soul already seemed to have departed out of his mouth, Harada and Amagiri were dumbstruck as they stared at each other for a while.
——Incidentally, the competition ended with Amagiri's victory, who still continued to eat with his dignity as an oni [not entirely sure about this the word for 'demon' can also mean 'ghost' so this could possibly be interpreted as '...eat with a ghostly figure', which could mean that he was really not doing well, but I think what I put is fine].
----to be continued---
😂
Just in case, manjū are steamed sweet buns with some sort of filling inside.... and I have no idea how the word should be treated for its plural form.
Also I feel that Amagiri would think that Shinpachi and Harada are insanely normal compared to Kazama and Shiranui... though Sannan's in a league of his own.

omggggg at the end of today’s episode…!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was expecting it to end with shin’s victory but instead we made it to shou hei kun’s Glorious Entrance..!! This line makes me so ravenous for more details of his and mou bu’s past together; shou bun kun having no idea he was ever a combatant definitely suggests that he’s solely been a strategist at least since ryo fui’s faction entered the court of qin, so I wonder if by ‘his youth’ kai oku really does mean their teen years (their earliest campaigns together..?)… wah
This episode absolutely is the shin and ruki show, though — shin’s entrance & ruki’s defeat is my absolute favourite moment for both of them in this arc:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So many aspects of this…… First of all, what really really stands out about ruki as a villain is how easy he goes down. He’s the main arc antagonist & personal opponent for shin, and his gleeful sadism/upbeat bloodlust is an attitude we’re familiar with from other extremely daunting figures (obviously his severed head garland is a softcore kan ki stunt, but his brand of cruelty also has notes of fu tei’s introductory battle) so all the stars seem to be aligned for this to be a really serious challenge for shin, but because he does succeed in getting there on time the battle is won —— it was just the Getting There that was the challenge, and shin has become strong enough now that he can easily prevent the tragedy once he’s There :’). And ruki *has* been so stupid, he’s brought this all on himself, we’ve been watching him indulge himself all arc without realizing that he’s setting himself up for failure because he doesn’t really care about this conflict the way shin does. Spoiled boy…
Tho of course another aspect I love love love of this bit is how much it feels like setup for the conflict in koku you, in retrospect. Shin’s had to contend with Guys Doing War Crimes before, but everything abt ruki’s way of going abt it is like kan ki in reverse - he’s stupid, his own bloodlust betrays his plans, his men don’t care about him and will abandon him if pressed, he can’t hold his own when it comes down to it. So shin gets this genuine, well-deserved and extremely satisfying moral victory over him, only for his next campaign to be under the command a man who follows the same evil methods, but who lacks ruki’s failings and Achieves Results…… :)
anyways, ruki remains cute and i’m sad this is the last we’ll see of him, but shin is also cute and his little moment with sei’s daughter..
Tumblr media
Kind of makes the whole kanyou plot worthwhile to me, he’s so sweet ;______; I also like that they kept him and kou recognizing each other; we’re still firmly in ‘assassination plot did happen, actually’ territory!
Also, I did like you-chan’s big moment ;_;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting to see some additional moments of her and kou together as kids was adorable, and the sacrifice itself is such a great character beat for a girl who up until this point hasn’t gotten to take any major actions like this - the second she gets the opportunity for a moment of Agency she’s willing to give up everything for her best friend❤️. She and shin also have fun chemistry in their few lines of interaction, and it makes me wish it wasn’t narratively impossible for shin to be involved in more inner court stuff..

aghhhhhhhhh, sei and hyou in today’s episode..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is just a couple of seconds at the end of the episode, but it’s the most significant part of sei’s speech to me because I’m still to this day irreparably torn up abt literally the inciting incident from the first chapter of the series (shou bun kun still hasn’t adequately apologized or atoned in my eyes lol). Shin thinks about hyou relatively often (usually in fist of the north star style power of love victory scenes aka my favourite thing about this series), but a scene like this where sei independently remembers and recognizes his sacrifice is much rarer and very special to me… 。゚・ (╯﹏╰) ・゚。
Another part of the reason I like this bit so much is that its role in the story sei is telling us is 1) as an acknowledgement by sei that hyou is the most important person to shin, while then 2) leading directly into sei’s thoughts of shin, which is the core and end-point of his reflections on the love and kindness of other people - to me this sequence is really essentially sei acknowledging that shin is the most important person to him lol. There are other factors at play, of course, but during duke juuteki’s scene earlier in the episode I was thinking about how shin’s refutation to opponents who have been truly, seriously wronged by qin is always ‘the cycle is going to break because sei can break it’; sei here, against his own ultimate rhetorical opponent, ultimately relies on ‘I know the cycle can break, because I saw shin break it’………………… ahh. Ahh
I’ve always really loved ryo fui’s response being Being Overwhelmed By Sei’s Brilliance, not in a the sense that he’s actually overcome or convinced but instead just kind of shakes his head and has to acknowledge that they are talking so completely past each other that his arguments will never come close to harming the radiance of sei’s dream, the way even though he’s so obviously lost it’s in a condescending way (sei’s ideal is so pure it still seems childish to him, even though it’s its purity that makes it so strong); for all that ryo fui’s been litigating the nature of the world below heaven & dissecting human nature, all of his paths lead back to maximizing tangible prosperity, while sei’s anecdotes and personal appeals are entirely for the sake of the dream for the dream’s sake. He’s aiming somewhere so much higher than anyone else…… it’s also interesting to watch ryo fui back down at the point he does while contemplating sei’s recent embarrassing loss to kan ki, a king of a warring state who’s willing to rule thru martial might huh
Also, with that fundamental divide in their positions in mind — ryo fui pushing sei the way he does is extremely funny, love the fact that he sets up sei’s finishing-move point by just going ‘okay, tell me about kantan if you think people are so good’. But it’s fitting that he’s the one challenger who’s made sei start seeing the ghosts of chou hei again, the one obstacle so apparently insurmountable that he nearly shakes sei’s faith in human nature again, and requires the kind of spiritual intervention he gets…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will say, before today’s episode I actually wasn’t sure that it *was* shi ka speaking to sei through the purple light, but I’m glad the anime cleared it up by bringing in sayaka ohara for those lines :) and wonderful to hear her in the shi ka flashback again!
Tumblr media
I’m glad we got some full sequences of her story here, too (in the manga we get an even more truncated version with no dialogue), because my impression of it in the anime is mostly of its very random placement between ri boku’s court visit and the start of sanyou, where it mostly felt like a distraction (obviously displaced from its more fitting location earlier in the manga), which was a shame because I love shi ka herself as a character so much. But we got to see lots of scenes of her in the current art style here so that’s a win :)
And last but not least. Rui was even prettier than usual today 🥰🥰🥰💘💘💘

A…………. the star of this week’s episode……….!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lines that i am fond of first & foremost for Ilora Reasons ofc but also her self-awareness and genuine hope for the future despite everything here are so sad. Sei talks about putting her out of her misery at another point in the episode, but she’s acting in earnest for the first time in so long…
also very fond of sei in this lead-up sequence tho, largely just because he feels Very vulnerable in practical terms (and ‘sovereign getting his rule undermined by his mother’ appeals to me specifically obviously)… something abt the bit where he’s choosing his robes for the ceremony really gets me
Tumblr media
I think it’s just that it’s a much more domestic scene than we usually see him in, and I like shou bun kun getting to just observe him a bit and worry abt his well-being, esp juxtaposed w the scene afterwards where sei talks about his feelings about his mother, which is very honest but also feels very rehearsed; it’s nice to be watching him in the littler moments too, as he goes about his day under the weight of the situation that’s bearing down on him
This s1 flashback also helps I love when he is tiny!!
Tumblr media
Shin’s thoughts abt this flashback make for an incredibly cute scene in general, I may just be feeling a little sappy this week but my favourite part of their relationship iiis always shin’s unique familiarity with sei’s weak spots and seeing him worry about the upcoming coronation is very sweet, especially since this is the first time in a couple of arcs that their success/failure really does depend on sei, and since sei really is having a tough time..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A real shame we didn’t get to see the little bit where he has to get directions for his Symbolic Fist Bump from ryuu koku tho ;o;
Tumblr media
Also disappointed, though obviously not at all surprised, at the omission of han ruki’s… like… severed head collection..
Tumblr media
We did get an extra shot of him and dad burning down that village, though :)
Tumblr media
sooooooo excited for them to get to kankoku pass❤️❤️❤️❤️

FINALLY WE’RE HERE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a) the sacrifice itself :))))) which we got with exactly the right lack of sentimentality at the end of the day, it’s so cute that in the few seconds between hou mei’s decision and the blade coming down rei ou doesn’t express even a tiny bit of understanding/sympathy/resignation/affection for hou mei, it’s purely anger and surprise that he’s been outplayed and abandoned like this 💓. it’s what Really makes this the perfect punchline to the intro scene where he talks abt how hou mei is surpassing him; he didn’t really believe that, in the end! But…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
b) rei ou might not have believed what he was saying, but of course hou mei did :D he was so modest and has been so deferent to his teacher up until now but he shifts tack into seizing his assets so seamlessly here ❤️ I think it’s something he’d thought about before, not out of malice but because planning the best course for any contingency is the right thing to do for someone in his position, just like ensuring his own survival :)
As I’ve been watching rei ou closely in the anime so far, I’ve thought at multiple points that he really is deeply focused on the other dragons (especially shi haku) above all else (*certainly* moreso than his opponents, he barely seems to know who tou is), in a way that makes sense given their personal history but also *is* markedly different than the way hou mei observes the battlefield; up until now I’ve mostly been just going lol how intimate when, like, he got unreasonably rattled by the idea of someone being able to best shi haku in spearmanship, but I think that’s the kind of thing hou mei is talking about (in terms of him being stuck in the past) and does perceive as a legitimate weakness. Ofc this is a little hypocritical of hou mei (which like, obviously, it would be a less cute trait if it wasn’t) given his own ability to throw a tantrum when things don’t go his way, but it also makes sense for him to be Disappointed in his master who at the beginning of this arc he really did believe was superior in skill to himself…… and all personal matters aside I think the core of the matter is that he Is primarily thinking of his country before all else. :)!
And with that we’re done with our very last Fire Dragons Saturday :( so I’ll be re-entering my state of hibernation until they animate war of three states arc 2-4 years from now.
always appreciate a good Kaine And Fu Tei Violence scene though<3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zhao scene is mostly just housekeeping but a) thank you to mvp kei sha for bringing up ka rin and letting me See Her (also nice to see him at home here since koku you arc is now closer on the horizon than ever :((((((), and b) fu tei’s lines abt their army stagnating during ri boku’s forced leave of absence, and abt their king’s unfitness to rule……… :(.
& I hit image limit here but I also appreciate sei’s mom running circles around ryo fui and shou bun kun in court, because they deserve it. Onward to ai and his state…………

Shou Bun Kun: Now, let’s say you haven’t eaten for days and you’re in desperate need of a sandwich. What do you do?
Shin: I walk over to Ten and have her make me a sandwich.
Shou Bun Kun: Okay, yes. But Ka Ryo Ten's not there.
Ei Sei: Where’s Ten?
Shou Bun Kun: It’s not important where she is. She’s gone. She left the country.
Ei Sei: She left the country? Why? Is she okay?
Shou Bun Kun: Yes, she’s fine!
Shin: Well, if she’s fine, I don’t see why she couldn’t make me a sandwich.
