So long as the political and economic system remains intact, voter enfranchisement, though perhaps resisted by overt white supremacists, is still welcomed so long as nothing about the overall political arrangement fundamentally changes. The facade of political equality can occur under violent occupation, but liberation cannot be found in the occupier’s ballot box. In the context of settler colonialism voting is the “civic duty” of maintaining our own oppression. It is intrinsically bound to a strategy of extinguishing our cultural identities and autonomy.
[...]
Since we cannot expect those selected to rule in this system to make decisions that benefit our lands and peoples, we have to do it ourselves. Direct action, or the unmediated expression of individual or collective desire, has always been the most effective means by which we change the conditions of our communities.
What do we get out of voting that we cannot directly provide for ourselves and our people? What ways can we organize and make decisions that are in harmony with our diverse lifeways? What ways can the immense amount of material resources and energy focused on persuading people to vote be redirected into services and support that we actually need? What ways can we direct our energy, individually and collectively, into efforts that have immediate impact in our lives and the lives of those around us?
This is not only a moral but a practical position and so we embrace our contradictions. We’re not rallying for a perfect prescription for “decolonization” or a multitude of Indigenous Nationalisms, but for a great undoing of the settler colonial project that comprises the United States of America so that we may restore healthy and just relations with Mother Earth and all her beings. Our tendency is towards autonomous anti-colonial struggles that intervene and attack the critical infrastructure that the U.S. and its institutions rest on. Interestingly enough, these are the areas of our homelands under greatest threat by resource colonialism. This is where the system is most prone to rupture, it’s the fragility of colonial power. Our enemies are only as powerful as the infrastructure that sustains them. The brutal result of forced assimilation is that we know our enemies better than they know themselves. What strategies and actions can we devise to make it impossible for this system to govern on stolen land?
We aren’t advocating for a state-based solution, redwashed European politic, or some other colonial fantasy of “utopia.” In our rejection of the abstraction of settler colonialism, we don’t aim to seize colonial state power but to abolish it.
We seek nothing but total liberation.

unwarranted Cis Opinion but I'm getting really uncomfortable w people responding to bathroom bills by posting pictures of trans men like DO YOU WANT THEM IN WOMEN'S BATHROOMS
bc like. no they're men. they should be in men's bathrooms unless that feels unsafe. but. it really feels like it's not helpful to lean into the idea that seeing someone presenting masc or being read as a man in a women's bathroom means You're In Danger.
like I know several butch women and NB ppl who are really scared around being on T or getting top surgery bc they're not men and they don't want to be in the men's bathroom, and in that circumstance stuff like growing facial hair or reading more androgynously can be really fucking scary when people are being primed by propaganda to be on edge and hyperreactive to anyone who doesn't look like their idea of a Cis Woman.
and I'm not laying that at the feet of the people saying "hey uhhhh trans men are men and don't belong in women's bathrooms" bc it is not their fault. it's the fault of a concerted effort to make it difficult and dangerous to be trans or substantively gender nonconforming in public.
but at the same time idk I guess it just worries me cause sometimes it feels like "you fools! you are worried about this group of trans people bc you think they're the Lurking Danger of Men In Bathrooms? WRONG! the Men Making You Feel Afraid In Bathrooms are actually THESE trans people!" when in fact neither of those groups using the fucking bathroom is a problem. just piss and mind your business. people need to go where they need to go.
anyway this country is a hot fucking trash fire that somehow accelerates its descent into open fascism more every day so it's all super good and normal. so don't take this too seriously tbh cause it's somewhere near #2535654476457899009765 on the list of priorities for Queer Discourse right now when the fucking human rights commission is actively rescinding protections from trans people. Please ignore my gibberish.

order of the phoenix members & co as incorrect quotes
dumbledore: I’m telling you, my organization's members are all very intelligent and skilled.
tonks, rushing in: dumbledore! remus and sirius tried to make pasta in the coffee pot and now it's broken!
-
sirius: Ask me anything. Go ahead, I'll give you a straight answer.
tonks: Why are we so fucking awesome?
sirius: That's the best goddamn question anybody's ever asked.
-
molly: I am going to need you to swear-
sirius: Fuck.
molly:
molly: ...swear as in promise.
-
molly : Are you drinking enough water?
severus: Sometimes my tears get in my mouth.
-
tonks: So... what would you do if you were in bed with me?
remus: Depends. Is your bed comfortable?
tonks: Yes.
remus: I'd sleep. I wanna sleep.
-
dumbledore: I'm going to ask you to be respectful to each other.
severus and sirius at the same time: I will respectfully decline.
-
tonks: What happened?!
sirius: Do you want the long version or the short version?
tonks: Short??
sirius: Shit's fucked.
tonks: ...Okay, long.
sirius: Shit's very fucked.
-
mad eye: So I have made the decision to trust you.
tonks: A horrible decision, really.
-
harry: We have a problem.
severus, probably: No, you have a problem. We have an idiot who keeps making them.
-
sirius: Hey I just got a pet snake. What should I name him?
remus: A pet WHAT?!
tonks: William Snakespeare.
-
dumbledore: severus is forbidden from monologuing. at meetings, at least.
-
sirius: Remus, old friend, would you take a killing curse for me?
remus: ...yes?
*snape angrily bursts into the room*
sirius: *running away* Great, thanks!
-
dumbledore: If you get in trouble, I'm gonna be like... a lawyer to you. Ok?
harry: Okay.
*later*
ministry bro: Potter! Sit down on the chair, you're in trouble.
dumbledore, whispering: Deny everything.
harry, loudly: That isn't a chair.
-
mundungus: stop forgiving my crimes, i worked so hard on those.
-
mad-eye: We've got to find a way to cut down our expenses. What can we live without?
kingsley: dumbledore, probably. he bought six new purple robes just this week with the budget we were going to use to bribe mundungus.
dumbledore: hey! i'm the only one paying for our expenses!
-
severus: Why aren’t you sleeping?
sirius: I’m too busy plotting your murder to sleep, severus.
severus:
sirius: …The nightmares.
severus:
severus: Don't look at me like that, I'm not giving you a hug.
-
molly: my future partner must be brave, strong, intelligent, successful and organized.
arthur: *steps on a rubber duck and proceeds to drop to his knees and sob while apologizing profusely.*
molly: that one. i want that one.
-
arthur: Define “dream” for kids.
severus: Dream - the first thing people abandon when they learn how the world works.
molly : That’s too dark!
-
dumbledore: I can explain.
some obscure person like emmeline vance, maybe: Can you?
dumbledore: If you give me thirty seconds to think of a lie.
-
dumbledore: You know you've made it when you see your picture everywhere you go.
mad-eye: Those are wanted posters!
-
remus: I’m sad.
tonks: Don’t be sad, because sad backwards is das.
tonks: And das not good.
-
fleur: Since we're in a relationship now, your clothes are my clothes too. Don't ask me why I have your shirt on, this is our shirt.
bill: Fine, but when I come strutting in with your fuzzy socks I don't want to hear shit.
-
severus: Everything will be ok. You can not stop it.
mad-eye: Everything will be fine. You have no choice.
mundungus: What kind of pep talk is that?
severus: Ominous positivity.
-
mad-eye: Someone will die.
tonks, sarcastically: Oh, fun!
-
Harry, Ron and Hermione: *Kick the door down looking panicked.*
kingsley: What did you do?
harry: Nobody died.
ron: *nods*
molly: WHAT KIND OF AN ANSWER IS THAT?!

'this is like wanting your kid to get better by yelling at them and hitting them… you know it won't change/fix anything.'
EXACTLY I have been saying this for so long!! it's not gonna work and it's just gonna make everything worse. it's not a form of activism to just bully people until they conform to what you want; humans are autonomous people capable of choosing good, and like. we could be in the fandom of another band that doesn't even try, whose fans have given up on them and are just there for the music and the drama, but it's like the minute they do try to do something good they have to do activism a certain way and it almost becomes a kind of purity culture and purity culture is famously about control and not good for anyone.
but it's also people trying to be funny in the comments with thinly veiled frustrations that come out as insults about their appearance (which especially gets to me bc like. does body positivity stop if you're famous? or are they just idealised figures/bodies/personalities for us to look at and pretend our bodies don't change over time and we don't like it when they remind us that they actually do?) or their partners or how they express themselves. and it's the aura of entitlement that erodes their right to autonomy and individuality that gets me, not only because the way we get the creative music they make is them expressing that.
anyway i do think we as a fandom can do better and i want to attempt to start a conversation about that rather than trying to call people out in the comments. still thinking of how. there's a lot of people in the fandom who are struggling and exasperated with life and relate to their songs and the pressure has to come out somewhere; it ends up being in comments they feel like won't ever be seen except for by people who agree with them, at people who seem to far away and too big to ever see getting hurt by their comments. at least that's what I assume happens. but yes, they were bullying a cat
I agree with everything...
Was it always like this? It can't be because this is too much, none of the hate was on me and I couldn't take it, I wonder how the guys (or any celebrity) feels, being judged about the tiniest move you do, it's crazy I would totally lose my mind.
That's not how life is... yes I would love to be a fan of good people but if the gf/partner of the artist you're a fan of is bad and their friends are bad what does that make them? Maybe it's on you, maybe YOU should pick better idk 😭.
