My first campaign was campaign 2 with the Mighty Nein bc I was convinced by Tik Tok that Fjord would be my favorite character. I had no fucking idea what I was getting into, and I’m so grateful I followed the internet down this rabbit hole. But now I’m a Liam and Taliesin Stan, and I cannot commit to campaign three without campaign one.

A small gripe about mental health services and their "acceptance" of aac.

Hello if you don't know me , I am Xan. I am a 21 year old semiverbal, disabled person. Recently I have found my ability to speak vocally or form reliable/coherent conversation together to be deteriorating at a very high speed. -especially with speech loss episodes after/during what I perceive as meltdowns, shut downs and moments extreme distress. During these moments it physically hurts to talk if I can talk at all and worsens how I am mentally.

I'm currently in a ph-program near by so I asked one of the charge nurses if I could use my aac app so I could effectively communicate. Not only because it is easier for me but also because It would be crucial to me so I can communicate efficiently even when I am in distress. Much to my surprise they said I would be unable to use my aac device and would have to use a small whiteboard to write out messages. Which I assumed it was because it would be seen as disruptive? But people are allowed to use their phones in between therapy groups. Should I have expected this?

I began using the white board bit I found it somewhat harder to use it due to being unable to form coherent and correct sentences on quick notice. Especially when I'd have to repeatedly snap my fingers at the employees to get their attention just so they can read it.

My friends said I should be allowed to use it and advocate for myself saying that aac use shouldn't be seen as disruptive because aac is a accommodation and needs to be more widely accepted.
