Still wrapping my head and heart around the devastating fire at Sui gusuku / Shuri Castle.

Had intense dreams last night and woke to the sound of water flowing from Zuisen / Ryuhi, the dragon fountain that brings forth the spring waters that were once used to provide drinking water for the entire castle and its guests, including investiture envoys from China. On a more personal note, this fountain also provided the spring water which my family once drew to distill amui / awamori for the Ryukyu court.

As the sound of that spring faded and I awakened to this reality, I still held an image which felt more like a memory than dream. I found myself at the steps of the Zuisemmon, adding my tears to the spring waters that began to overflow down the stone steps...

Shuri Kinjo-cho stone paved path is located at the southern area from Shuri Castle Park. The path was made during the Ryukyu Kingdom era. The length of the path was 10km long, but after WWⅡ, it was destroyed. Now the path is 300m. People live on the path and it is also a designated cultural property. It has also been chosen as“the 100th best road in Japan”. On the way to the path, there are spiritual sites and fancy cafes. قلعة شوري (باليابانية: 首里城 شوري-جو) هي قلعة تقع في شوري، أوكيناوا، اليابان. وكانت قصر مملكة ريوكوكو. دمرت بشكل شبه كامل أثناء القلعة عام 1945 أثناء معركة أوكيناوا ولم يبق منها إلا بعض الجدران ترتفع بعلو بضعة سنتيمترات. أعيد بناؤها عام 1992 في الموقع الأصلي حسب الصور والسجلات التاريخية وذاكرة سكان المنطقة. تعتبر قلعة شوري اليوم أحد مواقع التراث العالمي. قلعة شوري مبنية بشكل أساسي من الخشب والحجارة، ويعتقد أن تاريخ بنائها يعود إلى القرن الرابع عشر. #shuricastle #okinawa #japan https://www.instagram.com/p/CAmKbijnHUw/?igshid=zgbkz3ijmk30
