“He betrayed your trust and you aren’t more upset?" Helsknight scoffs. "Pathetic.”
Wels rolls his eyes. “It’s a death game, Helsknight, that’s kind of the whole point. I should’ve seen this coming, honestly.”
“You’re naive.”
“Iskall’s my friend. It’s not naive to trust him.”
“He broke that trust!”
“Well, yes, and I plan to get him back for that someday, but also: it’s a death game. We all agreed to it. I’m not mad at him for killing me, I just wish he’d been a bit more upfront about it.”
If he’d been more obvious about trying to kill Wels, then maybe Wels wouldn’t be dead, also. But Iskall’s whole goal was to kill him, so he can understand the deception.
“You’re infuriating.”
Wels shrugs. He generally tries not to be, but in this instance, he finds that he doesn’t mind. “Maybe so. Look, can we finish this later? I need to go get my stuff back from Iskall, and your presence would probably freak him out.”
you know when you get to that point of dealing with intrusive/self deprecating/etc thoughts that you're just like. "yeah okay. consider: you're stupid and wrong. also: go away, i'm busy"? that should be wels and hels

Is Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury the first anime series to depict a married same-sex couple?
Given the rings and comments from the staff (excluding Bandai) it's pretty clear that both Suletta and Miorine are married. And looking at older anime couples I can't find another one where the characters are actually married to one another.
There are series that depict engagements and proposals (implied or otherwise with queer characters).
Some examples would be:
Yuri & Viktor from Yuri on Ice, where it's implied that they want to be engaged.
Ranma & Akane from Ranma 1/2, both find themselves in an arranged engagement but end up falling for each other anyway. Ranma is canonically genderfluid in both the anime and manga and Akane is attracted to Ranma as both a man and a woman. And this is ignoring all of Ranma's other fiances who know about their curse and want to be in a relationship with them anyway.
Utena & Anthy from Revolutionary Girl Utena, while the circumstances of their engagement are out of their control, the two of them fall deeply in love with one another despite that. And in the movie they kiss.
Other LGBT anime couples are together or in love but next explicitly depicted as engaged or married would be:
Michiru Tenou & Haruka Kaiou from Sailor Moon, they are very much together and in the Crystal series end up living together and adopting a baby.
Yukito Tsukishiro & Touya Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura, who are in love with one another.
Eiji Okumura & Ash Lynx from Banana Fish, who are in love with one another. And it hurts.
Yuu Koito & Touko Nanami from Bloom Into You, who are two girls who fall in love with one another. And in the story you watch them grow and get closer.
Nezumi & Shion from No. 6, a sci-fi drama where two boys fall in love. This one also hurts.
And countless other examples, none of which I could find have the characters taking their relationship further than dating or engagement.
So, is Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury the first married same-sex couple in anime?
On a minor note, there have been several gay weddings depicted in manga.
Some examples would be:
Our Dreams At Dusk by Yuhki Kamatani, which was written by an asexual, X-gender author.
Until I Meet My Husband by Ryousuke Nanasaki and illustrated by Yoshi Tsukizuki. This manga was written by a gay man and based on his own essays about his life. The manga is auto-biographical.
I Married My Best Friend To Shut My Parents Up by Kodama Naoko, who has written several other LGBT manga, most of which are Yuri.
And there are several more!
Bonus:
Shoutout to Episode 7 of the 80s anime Dirty Pair for having a wedding between a cis man and a trans woman in one episode.

Thinking about Very Scary Miles Edgeworth who is a Vampire and all the kids at school (and later everyone in court) is TERRIFIED of him because ‘he’ll suck your blood!’
And then after the class Trial Phoenix and Larry go to eat lunch with him. Phoenix is trying very hard to be brave as Miles opens up his lunch box. Larry is shaking behind him. Is he going to pull out a blood bag??? A blood juice box? A LIVE ANIMAL TO SUCK DRY????
He pulls out a banana. Just goes to town on it. Cheeks puffed out because he just shoved the whole thing in at once. Chewing very seriously but with eyes closed because he loves it so much.
Turns out he’s a part of the fruit bat line of vampires. He had no idea his classmates were scared of him. Makes soft little chuffing sounds when he has a Really good piece of fruit.
Phoenix is ten and isn’t totally sure but he thinks he’s in love. He starts asking his mom to pack him fruit to share with Miles.

An interesting think I’ve noticed about the Captain is that he kind of encapsulates the melancholic feeling of a lot of the music from his era (I’m thinking crooners more than big band music here)
Songs like “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” (Fred Astaire) “Always in My Heart” (Glenn Miller) “Only Forever” (Bing Crosby) “I’ll Never Smile Again” (Tommy Dorsey) and of course “We’ll Meet Again” (Vera Lynn) are all about losing a significant other and keeping their memory. The genre also has a slow, melodic sound that just screams yearning
This probably has something to do with the songs being written during/around wartime and thus express the feeling of having loved ones go off to war
Maybe I’ve just grown to associate any song from that era with the Captain, but there’s something about that gentle yearning for a love that you once had and may never have again that is just perfectly reflected in him
Have a listen (or just read the lyrics) to Al Bowlly’s “Guilty” “How Could We Be Wrong” and “Heartaches” and tell me that isn’t about the Captain
Honestly this could apply to the other ghosts as well but I won’t get into that unless people want me to lol

Since it’s the Ides of March today, I want to tell you all that it isn’t actually Caesar’s fault that September, October, November, and December aren’t the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth months. The Roman Calendar originally started in March and the two months that were added were January and February, not July and August. July and August existed pre-Caesar (he was actually born in July) just under the names Quintilis and Sextilis (they were the fifth and sixth months originally). The addition of January and February is usually attributed to Numa Pompilius, Romulus’ semi-mythical successor, way before Caesar’s time. Caesar actually didn’t even rename Quintilis and Sextilis. Quintilis was renamed for him after his death and Sextilis was renamed years after that (Augustus wasn’t even called Augustus until after Caesar’s death). Caesar *did* introduce calendar reforms but they had nothing to do with adding or renaming months it was meant to make the calendar less complicated and more in line with the solar year. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for stabbing Caesar, but his calendar reforms aren’t why.
