A heavy puff of air escaped Y/N's lips as she plopped down on her bed, she was absolutely breathless. "That was good, like surprisingly perfect" she mumbled. Jay smiled as he laid back down next to her, pulling Y/N's body closer to his. "Why the sudden interest in me anyways? I mean yeah, we stayed friends after you rejected me but it's still a little odd," Jay said as Y/N tugged the covers over them, regretting to turn on the AC.
"First off, I apologized a million times about that, you gotta let that go. Second all, can't a girl just call up a guy to have sex without making it a big deal?" Y/N glanced up at him and he surprisingly nodded in agreement with her. "I suppose you make a good point. And it was very worth it. You're very good at it by the way," Jay complimented, rubbing her back.
"Why thank you," Y/N smiled. As Jay leaned down to kiss her, he paused hearing the doorbell ring, "You expecting someone?" He asked. Y/N furrowed her brows in thought, then came to the realization of who it probably was. "Okay, either it's Mercedes, or there's a slight chance it's Kenny who shouldn't even be here till another three hours." Y/N quickly stood up and pulled on the nearest shirt which just so happened to be Jay's and she slipped on her pajama shorts.
More knocking was heard from her door until it stopped when she headed down the stairs. The door opened and Kenny entered, tucking his key back into his pocket. "Y/N?!" He turned to look up the stairs and spotted Y/N, immediately smiling. "Kenny? What are you doing here?" She happily ran into his open arms, extremely happy to see her brother after months of being away from him.
"My flight got here early, I tried calling you but your phone must've been off or something," he explained, pulling away he furrowed his brows at the shirt she wore. "Who's shirt is that? It looks way too big for you," he walked past her and headed to the bar she had and grabbed himself a water. "Uhm, no it's mine. I have a lot of these." Y/N lied, leaning against her couch. "Really? Never seen you were those before," Kenny shrugged, deciding to drop the unimportant subject.
"So did you wanna grab lunch or something?" Y/N asked, trying to think of a way to get Kenny out of the penthouse without him seeing Jay. If he seen Jay, he'd probably kill him. "I think I'm gonna take a quick nap and then if you're still up to it we could go for dinner," Kenny smiled. Though it quickly dropped when a shirtless Jay White ascended down the stairs, "Dinner sounds amazing actually." Jay smiled, throwing an arm around Y/N who practically froze.
Kenny squinted his eyes, "Y/N, why is Jay White in your living room," he gestured to the shirtless man, "and shirtless too, might I add." Y/N cleared her throat and removed Jay's arm from her shoulder in which he only wrapped it around her waist in response. "Right uhm, he was just visiting. You know, catchin' up, reminiscing of the old times," Y/N faked a smile, patting Jay's back and he raised a brow.
"Mhm, and that's why you're wearing his shirt? Just reminiscing?" Kenny raised his brows, a small smirk etched at the corner of his lips.
"If that's what you call reminiscing then sign me up every day," Jay added with a grin. Y/N elbowed his ribs with an eye roll, "Shut up."
"Oh no, please, don't stop on my account. I'm gonna go take that nap. Just keep it down." Kenny headed up the stairs, walking past a genuinely shocked Y/N and Jay. "Wait, you're not mad?" Y/N spoke up, causing Kenny to pause in his steps and turn to look at her. "Nope. As long as this keeps your mind off of Will, then please, keep going. I welcome it. Besides, it's not really my business who you choose to be with," Kenny said before continuing to his room.
"That went surprisingly well," Jay commented.
"This doesn't mean we're gonna be a thing by the way," Y/N said, walking towards the kitchen. "Never said I wanted that anyways," Jay shrugged, seeing no problem with that. He didn't want a relationship either. He was still trying to get his ex back anyways.
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ ˚ ˛ • 。* 。° 。* 。 • ˚《
"I'm excited. What about you?" Y/N walked beside Kenny, her duffle bag on her shoulder as Kenny pulled his and hers suitcases. "Honesty, I just can't wait to kick Ospreay's ass," Kenny shrugged. Y/N cracked a small chuckle and sighed, "Yeah, he's one of the very few reasons I thought about not resigning with New Japan to be honest. I can't stand being around him." Y/N opened the door, letting Kenny in first as he was pulling the luggage.
"What changed your mind?" Kenny asked, looking at the map to locate his locker room that was gonna be put right next to Y/N's. "Honesty? I had a talk with Kota and he helped me realize that I shouldn't let Will get in the way of what I'm truly happy doing. I wanted this before I was with Will and he shouldn't have an impact on my decisions anymore." Y/N followed Kenny down the halls, not seeing many wrestlers around, mainly just the crew that helped put everything together.
"Wow, you should ask Kota for advice more often then. You don't make the brightest decisions when it comes to your love life." Kenny unlocked the door to her room first, figuring she would take more time to get ready for her press conference. "Oh shut up, that's so not true," Y/N denied, setting her duffle bag on the metal black chair.
"Oh yeah? Fine, then name one of your exes that actually turned out to not be a piece of shit," he compromised, knowing Y/N couldn't argue with that. "Uhhh...wait no, I dated uhm, actually you make a good point. Fuck. It's not my fault though. I get very attached." Y/N frowned, sitting down on the sofa. "And that's okay, it's not your fault. You just need to be careful with these guys, especially wrestlers. Most of these guys aren't interested in relationships." He did make a good point. Most wrestlers just wanted sex. And she couldn't blame them much, nobody had time for a serious relationship.
"Noted. Now, I'm gonna get dressed. I'll see you soon." Y/N gave a quick side hug to Kenny before he left.
A few hours later, Y/N was called to do the press conference for her upcoming match at WrestleKingdom that was less than ten hours away. Y/N sat down at the table, setting down her title on the table, she crossed her legs and looked to her right where Kairi was supposed to be.
Y/N took this a chance to start without her as she then picked up the mic, "Are you kidding me? You expect this person to be able to dethrone me and she can't even show up on time? I'm supposed to feel threatened by her? I'm supposed to feel scared?" Y/N chuckled sarcastically.
Kairi walked over to the table, rushing a bit and Y/N gestured to her, "Look who decided to join the party. Did wasting my time feel good darling?" She sarcastically asked.
A minute in, Kairi was answering a question on what she would do if she won the title, in which Y/N felt the need to interrupt. "This is absolutely ridiculous! Let's get something completely straight, Kairi." Y/N stood up and took her championship off the display, "You will never win this belt as long as I hold it and let me tell you something, it is not leaving me anytime soon because there is nobody capable of beating me. And after I retain tonight, I will continue to run through each and every division there is until nobody is left. Because, I am the greatest wrestler ever."
Y/N raised her championship proudly, glaring down at her opponent. "This conference is over. Enjoy the show." Y/N set down the mic and walked out, not even bothering to second glance at Kairi.
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ ˚ ˛ • 。* 。° 。* 。 • ˚《
It was a gruesome battle in the Tokyo Dome between Kairi Sane and Y/N Kingley for the IWGP Women's Championship. It was sometimes even hard to watch. They were beating the crap out of each other like no other. It was hard to predict who would even win. They were both so close.
Y/N screamed in frustration as Kairi managed to kick out of her blue thunder powerbomb off the top rope. She hit the mat in frustration, sitting up with desperate eyes. "Give up!" Kairi breathed heavily, shaking her head 'no', she exchanged strikes with her. Kairi performed another devastating knee before making her way to the top turnbuckle.
Y/N took a deep breath, trying to get a breath in as she just did a german suplex to Kairi off the top rope and immediately performed a shooting star press after. The match was almost over and it was obviously one hell of a match. Kairi was killing it and some even thought she might actually just pull a win over the champion. But, Y/N wasn't gonna let that happen.
Y/N crawled over to Kairi, attempting a cover but Kairi kicked out at two. "Fuck! Just give up!" Y/N leaned against the ropes, running a hand over her hair in frustration.
Kairi stood up tiredly and immediately ran and knee'd Y/N before she could block it. She dragged Y/N to the turnbuckles and began to climb up the rope. The crowd automatically assumed it was over for Y/N the minute Kairi hit the insane elbow. But, as Kairi performed it, Y/N got her knees up at the last second. Kairi groaned and Y/N stood up and jumped onto the top rope, performing her finisher, the Royalty Deathdrop. Again, it was basically a backflip off the top rope into a DDT.
She hit it perfectly. "ONE..TWO..THREE!" Y/N grinned and tiredly crawled to the bottom rope, attempting to pull herself up as they announced her name as the winner. The official handed her the title and raised her hand before she immediately collapsed back onto the mat, barely able to hold herself up. Her body was battered and bruised so it was surprising that she wasn't even unconscious.
Kairi stood up and immediately went towards Y/N, extending her hand in respect towards her competitor. The crowd watched in anticipation, waiting to see if Y/N would accept her hand. Y/N hesitantly took Kairi's hand and the crowd applaused. Kairi pulled the taller woman up and raised her hand, showing a sign of respect for the retaining champion.
All until Y/N's hand dropped, the music hit. The music of Mercedes Moné, FKA Sasha Banks.
The crowd cheered, obviously most knowing who she was. Y/N sat down on the middle turnbuckle, watching as Mercedes ascended down the entrance ramp. Kairi stood near Y/N as they watched Mercedes enter the ring. A whole new look on her, she was almost unrecognizable if you seen her as Sasha Banks in WWE. This was an entirely different woman and she wasn't here to play games. She was here to make history, money and win championships.
Kairi looked at Y/N silently asking if she wanted her to stay. Y/N shook her head, waving her off and Kairi stepped out of the ring, letting Y/N handle her business.
Y/N stepped up, not liking the disrespect of Mercedes. She didn't have to say anything, she just raised her IWGP Women's Championship right in the face of Mercedes, not backing down to her.
Mercedes stuck her hand out, Y/N looking at it in suspicion. She took it hesitantly and Mercedes smiled as they shook hands. A show of respect. Y/N went to pull her hand away but Mercedes held it tightly so she couldn't let go. She pulled Y/N in, making her drop the title and performed what looked to be a gory bomb only it was straight into a DDT. Y/N groaned as she hit the mat, selling it perfectly so it made Mercedes look like a huge threat.
Mercedes walked over to the title and slowly picked it up, then dropped it onto Y/N's barely conscious body. "Give me a mic," Mercedes stuck her hand out, leaning between the ropes, they quickly handed her a microphone and she slowly made her way back to Y/N.
"Y/N, awee, congratulations on making history tonight, once again. I also know a thing or two about making history," Mercedes grinned, the crowd cheering for her. "I am here, in New Japan and Stardom to make some more. Allow me to introduce myself. I'm the standard. The conversation. The blueprint, and the CEO of this women's division."
Mercedes kneeled down next to Y/N's body, the champion not even attempting to get up or open her eyes. "So Y/N-San, enjoy your IWGP Women's Championship while you can. Because at Battle in the Valley at San José. Imma leave you bankrupt bitch. And you can bank on Moné." Mercedes took the championship and lifted it up, throwing the mic to the side as her music played.
Y/N rolled out of the ring once Mercedes made her way out. She grabbed her championship and let one of the officials help her walk to the back, holding an ice pack to her neck. "Take me to my dressing room please," she requested.
They helped her to her dressing room, bringing several packs of ice as well before leaving her by herself. Y/N groaned in pain as she pulled off her tank top and pressed the ice onto her bruised shoulder. There was a knock on her door in which she casually assumed it was either Kenny, Mercedes, or Jay, so she granted permission for them to come in. But, unfortunately, it was just Will.
"What do you want, Will? Don't you have a match with my brother coming up?" Y/N muttered, wincing as she attempted to untie her boots. "I just wanted to come check up on you. That was one hell of a match." Will sat on the table and carefully took her leg, and to his surprise, she let him. "Good, cause I feel like crap." She let out another wince as he pulled off both of her boots, "How's your ankle feel? I noticed you sprained it early on in the match."
"It's just sore, luckily it's not a big deal. I don't think I'll need boot or anything. I just kinda tweaked it," she explained, setting some ice atop of her hurt ankle. The chime on her phone caused both of them to glance down at it, Will's expression morphing into a scowl when he seen it was Jay White texting her. Will cleared his throat as she picked up the phone to reply to Jay's text. "Uh, so I overheard your brother and Jay White talking and I was just wondering if-"
"If we're dating?" Y/N finished for him, setting her phone down to look at him. Will sighed and Y/N pursed her lips, not surprised he was being nosy about her private life, "whether we are or not, that is none of your business. I made myself clear that we have to let each other go and I'm sticking to that."
"What about friends? Can't we at least be friends?" Will asked, but it seemed almost like begging.
Y/N blankly stared, "Will, look back at the last time we tried that. I ended up in your bed. I will not let myself fall back into your traps. It is over. There is no more us." Will shook his head, standing up and running a hand over his blonde hair, "No, no this isn't you, this isn't us. What's this really about? Jay? Cause, what does he have that I don't?! Tell me."
Y/N stood up, barely able to stand on her ankle but she was becoming irritated of the conversation, "What do you want to hear, Will? That he doesn't compare to you? That he can't please me like you? Cause frankly if I said that, I would be lying to you and myself."
Will simply grinned, cracking a small chuckle, he stepped closer to Y/N, "now we both know nobody could please you like me and Jay certainly isn't changing that fact." Y/N rolled her eyes, "and how would you know?"
"Oh come on, we both know lying isn't your strong suit. Even after all these years, you still can't tell the truth." Glaring at him, she shoved his shoulder, "you are the last person to talk about truth! You cheating son of a bitch!"
Will clenched his jaw, growing tired of her bringing up the past. "How many times do I have to apologize?! I'm fucking sorry! That was three years ago! Let it go, Y/N!" He exclaimed at her.
Y/N scoffs quietly under her breath, "Get the fuck out of my room, Will."
Will shakes his head in disbelief, "Congratulations Y/N. Have a nice life. I won't be there when you come crawling back after Jay leaves you in the dust."
Y/N simply rolls her eyes as he walks out, slamming the door on his way out. "Fuckin' child."
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ ˚ ˛ • 。* 。° 。* 。 • ˚《
The show ended with Kenny taking the IWGP United States Championship from Ospreay. It was one of the best matches Y/N's ever witnessed, even if it caused her so much stress to see. Every bump Will and Kenny took was nerve-wracking to say the least. But, they both pulled through and successfully finished the match. She found out from Kyle that Will lost a pint of blood and injured his shoulder though he would pull through and be fine.
As of now, Y/N was heading to do a little promo in response of Mercedes's debut. With the help of a crew member, she sat down at the table and set her drink down. She adjusted the mic and glanced around at all the reporters and such. "Today I will not be answering any of your questions because of Mercedes Moné," she spoke in Japanese.
"I had the most exhausting match of my career and she just shows up out of the blue to steal my spotlight?! Do I have to remind you who I am Mercedes? I am Y/N fucking Kingley and you will not disrespect me! You think because you came from WWE that you're all big shit now? Well let me educate you love. This isn't WWE, this isn't slow paced, this isn't a playground. When you step in the ring with me you won't be the same. You made a mistake coming here. And now I'm gonna send you back where you belong."
Y/N stands up, looking directly into the camera. "I accept your challenge. Let's see if you can keep up."
》* 。 • ˚ ˚ ˛ ˚ ˛ • 。* 。° 。* 。 • ˚《
"I don't think I'm up to this," Y/N states as she glances at Mercedes and back to the road. "Girl, yes you are. You're the one who brought up this whole party. You can't back out now," Mercedes replies, fixing up her makeup in the mirror. "That was before I fucked up my ankle and got into a fight with my ex. Who, mind you is going to be there." Mercedes chuckles at her over exaggerating, "Which gives you the perfect chance to get back at him."
"With who?" Y/N questions, parking the car in front of the bar.
"Him." Cedes smiles as she points at Jay who was currently walking towards the building. Y/N purses her lips, finding it to be a good idea, "That could work."
They both walk into the bar together and Mercedes follows Y/N, who obviously knew the majority of people there. Y/N finds Kenny talking with some friends and go over there, immediately hugging him. Kenny smiles realizing it's her, "I thought you weren't gonna show," he said.
"Someone changed my mind," Y/N says, and Mercedes gestures to herself. Kenny chuckles and embraces Mercedes. "Thanks for getting her out. Y/N usually hates parties." Mercedes laughs, "It's my pleasure. Do you know where Jay is?" Y/N raises a brow at Mercedes question.
"Uh yeah, he's just over there." Kenny pointed across the bar and Mercedes nods and smiles gratefully. "Great. Thank you. We will catch up later. I'm gonna steal Y/N." Mercedes takes Y/N's hand and drags her across the bar towards Jay. "I don't think this is a great idea-"
"Hi Jay!" Mercedes waves, dragging Y/N over meanwhile Y/N kept trying to slow down because of her ankle. "Mercedes, right? We met at the show yesterday." Jay sticks his hand out and she happily accepts it, "Yes. That's right." Y/N smiles meekly at him, but tries to avoid eye contact. "So what can I do for you ladies?"
"We are having some car trouble and Y/N here is gonna need a ride home later so I was wondering if you could take her home for me. I'm sure you know where it is. It's not too far from here." Mercedes lies and Y/N looks at her with a mini glare. Jay chuckles, nodding with a grin, "Of course, it's no trouble."
"Awesome. I'll catch you later Y/N. Have fun." Mercedes waves and walks over to talk to some of the joshi wrestlers.
Jay takes Y/N's hand and helps her onto the stool carefully, "You don't actually have any car trouble do you?" He questions in amusement. Y/N chuckles lightly and nods, "you are correct. But she's definitely gonna leave me here despite that."
"She sounds great," Jay joked.
"If you'll excuse me, I need to use the ladies room. I will be right back," Y/N excused herself swiftly. Honestly, she just wanted to fix up her hair as it was flowing everywhere courtesy of the wind from outside. She finished up quickly, washing her hands and walking out, going to find Jay again. Though, a hand blocked her, causing her to look up at the man, known as David Finlay. She didn't necessarily have a problem with him. She just didn't like him. But then again, not a lot of people did.
"Uhm, what can I do for you?" Y/N looked at him, slightly confused. He smiles, "I just came to tell you, I watched your match, and you did amazing, it was a great match. One of the best I've ever watched." He says. Y/N smiles for a second, "Oh, well thank you, I appreciate it. But if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my friend." She goes to move past him until he blocks her way again. "Come on, stick around a bit. Give me a chance. We can get to know each other beautiful."
Y/N cleared her throat, clearly uncomfortable with him. "I'm sorry, but I'm not interested." David raised a brow, "and yet you're sluttin' it around with Jay? Come on, you can do so much better." Y/N scoffed, "Excuse me? What did you just call me?" Y/N goes to push pass him when he grabbed her arms, keeping her in place. "Oi, get your hands off her." Next thing she knew, Will had pushed David against the wall, she glanced down at her arms, seeing red handprints on them from how tightly David help her.
"She's not interested bruv. Move on." Will pushed him away, David walking off with a scoff, making a small inappropriate comment about her.
Will turned to Y/N, seeing her in a trance, not moving or speaking. He set a hand on her shoulder, "You alright love?" Y/N snapped out of her thoughts, glancing at his hand on her shoulder. She blinked, "Leave me alone." Y/N walked away, wincing at the pain in her ankle, she reached Jay, standing by him on the stool. "Do you think it's possible for you to take me home? I need to get out of here."
Jay nodded immediately, paying for the drinks and helping Y/N out of the bar, he had seen Will watching in the corner and assumed it must've been about him. Jay helped her into the car before driving them off, heading to her place, obviously knowing where it was. "What happened back there?" He asks, breaking the silence.
Y/N didn't glance at him, texting Mercedes and Kenny on her phone, telling them that she was leaving early. "Nothing important. My ankle has just been killing me." He knew she was partially lying but chose not to push on it. "I'm sorry to drag you away, you could go back if you want. You don't need to stay with me or anything." Y/N said, setting her phone down.
"It's alright. I'll stay. I want to."

Rowaelin Month Day Twenty Two: Magic/Shifting Lessons with the Kids @rowaelinscourt
Month Masterlist
~1k words, another day of poor editing
.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.
Father and Son
The screams were what drew Rowan’s attention first.
He couldn’t scent any blood so he knew it wasn’t terribly urgent.  Nor could he scent any pain either.  But when his children were involved, it was best to put an end to screaming as soon as possible.  The last time he and Aelin had tried to let them scream it out the entire west wing of the palace had nearly been destroyed.
So, Rowan picked up his pace as he rounded the corner down to the practice yard where he knew his two oldest should have been working on their sword formations.  He came face to face with a young soldier instead, likely on his way to find him or Aelin.
“Ah, your highness,” the young fae said.  He bowed shortly, refusing to meet Rowan’s gaze. “The children--”
“Are causing problems again, aren’t they?” Rowan finished.  The soldier’s eyes only widened to a comical size. “I’ll see to them.”
Without saying anything else, he swept past the soldier and out to the yard.  It indeed was chaos.
Two of the practice dummies had been obliterated.  Hay streaked in every direction, barrels overturned, and Meiri stood center of it all.  Her blonde hair was, as always, in disarray, and her tunic mussed up.  She pointed her wooden practice sword at a crate where Rowan could just make out Finlay hiding behind.
Oh good.  They were getting along swimmingly.
“Come out, Finlay!” Meiri shouted. She was sixteen and well on her way to taking over the world. “You can’t hide behind that.”
“You’re cheating.”  Finlay, nearly fifteen, kept his position with his own practice sword clutched in his hands.
Rowan could at least pride himself on the fact he insisted they not use real weapons on each other unless he, Lorcan, or Aedion were present.
“I’m not cheating!”
“Are too!”
“You can use magic too, if you actually tried!”
Meiri’s words were not meant to be cruel exactly, but she was young and confident and could be rather arrogant in her own abilities.  Exactly like her mother.  And Rowan knew how Finlay would take the words all the same.
He waited until Meiri finally noticed him.
“Da!” she exclaimed. “Would you please tell Fin this isn’t how you fight.  He’s embarrassing himself, really.”
“Stand down, Meir,” Rowan said.  He dipped his chin at his daughter who frowned, but lowered the wooden sword all the same.
Rowan nodded in approval before going to the crate where Fin was still hiding behind.  It wasn’t often that the lad acted like this.  He was indeed proud and hated displaying weakness of any sort.  But he was also still young and barely coming into maturity.  Rowan could only guess what was going on in his son’s head.  So he eased himself onto the ground right beside Fin, crossing his arms over his knees in a relaxed position.
Finlay groaned. “Oh, would you just leave me alone?”
He squeezed his eyes shut and banged his head against the crate.
“I’m the only one equipped to handle the two of you when you get like this,” Rowan reminded his son.
“Meiri’s insane,” Fin hissed.
“I heard that!” Meiri shouted from behind them.
Rowan rolled his eyes. “Not now, Meiri.”
His words were followed by a huff and stomping feet.  Rowan waited a bit longer until he knew Meiri had fully retreated to the weapons room.  He looked at his son.
Finlay was a near replica of Rowan himself.  Silver hair, tan skin, and green eyes.  Though…Rowan would swear Fin’s eyes changed on occasion.  No matter.  It was still a bit disconcerting at times to remember the fact that he, Rowan Whitethorn, had a son.  Even if he’d had over a decade to get used to the fact.
“What happened?” Rowan asked. “Couldn’t summon ice or couldn’t aim?”
Fin said nothing as she stretched his long legs out before him.
“By the looks of it, you got a bit out of control?” Rowan pressed.
Fin banged his head against the crate again.
“It’s hard to control early on,” Rowan said, he tried to channel the way his own father trained him and not what he had learned trapped in Maeve’s oath. “Even harder when you’re still growing into yourself, maturing--”
“Stop talking da,” Fin said, finally looking at him.  It was more like a glare but Rowan would take it.
He smothered a grin and knocked his shoulder with Fin’s. “It’s alright to struggle with your magic.  But you can’t let your temper control you.”
Fin scowled. “I don’t let it control me.”
“Then why will we need to have the servants make new practice dummies?” Rowan asked.  He didn’t want to embarrass his son or make this situation worse than it could potentially be.  But sometimes you had to press and dig to get the answers you wanted. “Seems like something happened.”
Fin kept his eyes trained forward to an alcove across the practice yard.  It was left in afternoon shadows but was as innocuous a place as any to train your attention when avoiding confrontation.
For a moment, Rowan wondered if he should call Aelin here.  She’d struggled with controlling her magic and it hadn’t been centuries since that happened.  Unlike with Rowan.  He could still remember the vague sense of frustration, but it truly had been an age since he’d struggled so much.
“Finlay,” Rowan began as she stretched his legs out before him.  “Sometimes, getting better at something takes longer than we think it will, but that doesn’t mean we give up on it.”
Fin continued scowling. “Meiri teases me for losing control.  I’m trying, I’m trying really hard, da.”
It was true that Meiri’s magic had always come easily to her, that she didn’t struggle with it, that it was simply a natural extension of her being.  And even though Fin had displayed his magic early on--he’d always had a difficult time reigning it in.
“That’s just Meiri,” Rowan sighed.  “But she is your sister, and you do actually have to talk to her about things.  Or we can have one big family dinner and talk about what it’s like to grow up and change.”
“No!” Fin shouted, grabbing the front of Rowan’s shirt. “That’ll just make it worse.”
Rowan chuckled, unable to help it.  He stood and offered a hand to Fin.
“C’mon then,” he said. “I helped train your mother.  I can help train you too.”

Jay White X fem reader Word Count 5K
Main Masterlist Jay White Masterlist
Summary: Everyone wanted to know the real reason Jay White left NJPW to come to AEW when he had contracts around the world. The truth is he came to AEW because of Y/n, the love of his life. He was going insane without her by his side and he knew he would die if they coudn't be together.

Everyone wants to know why I became All Elite. Why I decided to come to AEW when I had offers all around the world. I was the hottest free agent and of all the places to pick I decided to join All Elite Wrestling. Even though I might not be getting booked the way I wanted to I don’t regret signing with AEW, not in the slightest. Why? Well, it’s because of Y/n.
Y/n and I met years ago in Japan. She was in Bullet Club and I was just starting out in New Japan Pro Wrestling. I remember when I met her for the first time. She was everything. She was gorgeous, everything about her was perfect. In a way, I looked up to Y/n. We were the same age but she had the experience over me, she had accomplished so much for her age. She truly was one of the best pro wrestlers out there. Due to that, I would often ask her for advice just as an excuse to talk to her. Two years after my debut in New Japan I realized I was in love with Y/n. I found the courage to ask her out and we began going out in 2017. She even helped me get into Bullet Club, which I am forever grateful for. The two of us were perfect for each other, we fit each other perfectly. I knew she was my soulmate, I knew I would marry her. We spent all of our time together, we were joined at the hip. People claimed it was too much, we were obsessed with each other but the truth was I just found my other half.
Y/n knew that some of the other boys wanted to leave New Japan. She knew they wanted her to go with them but she never told me about the secret plans. Instead, she acted like nothing happened and encouraged me to betray Kenny Omega. “You should turn on Kenny and take over Bullet Club. I’ll help you!” I remember looking at her like she was crazy. “Now why would I do that? Don’t get me wrong I like the idea but why would you encourage me to turn on some of your best friends?” Later I found out that Y/n put in a good word and wanted me to become the new leader of Bullet Club once the Elite left.
A year after Y/n and I made it official, in late 2018 she helped me to take over Bullet Club. Many members such as Kenny, Matt, Nick, Cody and Hangman left the club soon after and ended up leaving New Japan as a whole. I knew Y/n was hiding something from me for months leading up to the betrayal but every time I tried to bring it up I was shut down. “You won’t understand. I’m just under a lot of stress” It was true, she was under a lot of stress. I felt like our relationship was forming cracks due to it. The sneaky phone calls, how she would come home late at night and leave in the morning before I got up. Anyone else would think she was cheating on me but in my gut, I knew it was something different. I knew that whatever it was that was bugging Y/n she would tell me when she was ready.
The night I took over Bullet Club we went out to celebrate. All of my friends such as Juice, Finlay and the remaining members of Bullet Club went out and partied all night. I was sad Y/n didn’t join us. She said she needed to have some meetings with New Japan and I believed her. Once I returned to our shared flat I found Y/n a mess. Her hair was a mess, her makeup was smudged, various empty bottles and half-lit cigarettes were scattered on the floor. I was drunk but the moment I saw Y/n I was instantly sober. I carefully sat down next to Y/n on the floor and carefully asked her what’s wrong? That’s when she broke. Everything she was hiding for months came flooding out. She cried and cried, all I could do was hold her and tell her I was there for her. When she was able to calm down enough to speak she told me everything.
“I’m sorry Jay. I’m sorry I’ve been hiding everything from you. The truth is everyone is leaving New Japan. Kenny, Matt, Nick and Cody want to start their own wrestling promotion and they want me to go with them. They want me to move to America” I didn’t know what to say. I was in shock. This explains why she suggested the betrayal. Everything was slowly starting to make sense. I didn’t want to know the answer to this question but I had to ask. “Are you going to go with them?” “I don’t know. It’s complicated. As much as I love them I don’t know if I can move back to the States on a flip of a dime when there is still so much uncertainty” The truth was I didn’t want Y/n to leave but I knew this could be a big opportunity.
Fast forward a few months and All Elite Wrestling was formed. Y/n had declined the offer to join everyone in America. The Bucks understood her reasoning, the unknown was scary. She liked the stability she had in Japan. They said they would always have a contract with her name on it if she ever changed her mind. I also knew they wouldn’t give up that easily on her. Y/n’s contract with New Japan was up and although she was offered a new one she had a bigger contract waiting for her in America. I’ll never forget the day when I saw that letter arrive in the mail. I felt my stomach drop when I saw it. The difference between this official contract and The Elite asking Y/n to come to America was that this letter was from Tony Khan. The billionaire that invested in AEW. We opened the letter together and discussed the pros and cons of the offer.
Pros: Making way more money, more vacation time, closer to family, better benefits, reuniting with old friends, new opponents, more opportunities, and a guaranteed championship
If I was Y/n I would have taken the contract. Despite whether AEW would succeed or not she would still be making good money. AEW offered her a million-dollar contract, something neither of us expected. The con list was small but for some reason, they were controlling Y/n’s decision.
Cons: No Jay White, move across the world, 14hr time difference, no Jay
“Y/n, I think you should really consider this contract. It’s amazing! You deserve it. I don’t want to be rude or anything but you have done everything in Japan. There is nothing else left for you to do. Just think about it. I’ll be fine here, I can take care of myself.” I didn’t know why Y/n insisted on staying here in Japan with me when I knew she was frustrated and bored.
“I can’t go, Jay!” She told me “Why not? I’d take that contract in a heartbeat!-” “Because I need you. I think I would go insane if I moved to the other side of the world and couldn't see you. I’m completely in love with you Jay. Long distance never works out and there is no way I’m going to let you slip through my fingers” I knew her words were genuine. She wanted to go but was she really willing to sacrifice her dreams to be with me? It took a lot of convincing but Y/n agreed to at least try going to try AEW. We packed the essentials in suitcases and this was the end. I knew how much it would hurt but I couldn't let Y/n throw this away for me. Our drive to the airport was silent. We couldn't say a word without bursting into tears. I was never an emotional person but I now understood how Y/n felt. We said our goodbyes at the gate but neither of us could hold it together. “I can’t do this, Jay. I need to stay here with you” Y/n told me as neither of us dared to break the hug we were currently in. “Then stay. We can figure something out. As selfish as it sounds I need you here with me too” In the end Y/n declined yet another offer from All Elite Wrestling and took the same old New Japan contract she had been in forever. At least this time they offered her more money. Was it anything close to what she could be making in America? No, but it was a job, right?
With Y/n staying in Japan it led us to take over New Japan. The two of us were quickly the faces of the company and were able to solidify ourselves as two of the biggest stars in the history of New Japan Pro Wrestling. This was a big accomplishment for anyone, an even bigger one for two foreigners. I became the first-ever grand slam champion and Y/n made history by being the first woman to win a men’s championship in NJPW. It truly was us against the world, no one could beat us, no one was on our level. We were able to bring back the spotlight to NJPW. In a way we saved wrestling. Even though we were on the highest of highs it didn’t mean we didn’t experience the lows. Social media and pro wrestling never got along. Wrestlers never truly got the appreciation they deserved. Everyone called our sport fake but there is nothing fake about it. Sure some things are predetermined but the injuries, the risk, it was no joke. I could tell you stories about some scary moments in wrestling, this shit is not fake, the people who claim it to be are full of shit. When you are on that mountain people fight for your spot, they envy you, it can get messy at times.
Once I was in a storyline with Will Ospeary and it got way out of hand. It was just supposed to be Will Osepeary Vs Jay White but those freaks in the United Empire couldn't help themselves. They started going after Y/n, they would make inappropriate comments at her, interfere with her matches and on more than one occasion try to snatch her from me. A war had broken out between Bullet Club and the United Empire and unfortunately, Y/n was caught in the middle of it.
I didn’t understand the hyperfixation they had on her. Sure she was stunning but she was taken, she was mine, and everyone knew that. That didn’t stop them from trying to get into her pants. When I first found out about the situation I was furious. I was going to murder the United Empire. The fight was set, this was going to end everything but it was only the beginning.
The ring was chaotic, bodies were everywhere. It was WWIII, Bullet Club Vs The United Empire. During the match, Will and his goons had managed to get to Y/n, who was a special guest commentator. I tried everything in my power to get to her but I was handcuffed and duct-taped to the ring. I was forced to watch their attack on the love of my life. She was defenceless, she couldn't do anything. I was a five-on-one attack. The sound of kendo sticks to the back, snapping in half was sicking but not as bad as the chair shot to the head which busted her open. The worst was the tacks, why on earth would they use thumbtacks? By the time I got free, it was too late. The match was called off, no winner no loser, not even a draw, it went too far. I spent that evening screaming at the entire Bullet Club, why did no one do anything? I fired half of them on the spot. I couldn't even get myself to look Y/n in the eye, I was ashamed of myself. I couldn't protect my woman, I was a coward. “Look at me Jay” I couldn't “Look me in the eye” I turned to see my love’s once-green eyes all red and dark. I held her face in my hands delicately and looked at every mark that was left. I cringed at the 15 stitches and 3 staples in the side of her head. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry honey bee. I should have never let this happen” I told her. “I’m okay, this is not your fault,” she told me reassuringly. “But it is my fault, I did nothing. I watched that whole attack play out and I did nothing. And you’re not okay, you’re concussed, you have stitches and staples in your skull, and you’re covered in welts and bruises. This is not okay, you’re not okay” I was grateful we were alone, I didn’t understand why I had become so emotional. I couldn't stop the tears from falling, I felt weak.
Times like that were hard, shit goes south, and you find yourself being stocked by fans. Not to mention that many of our friends moved on from New Japan. Despite all of that Y/n and I remained loyal to the company. During all of this, AEW just got more and more popular. She would never admit it but I knew a part of Y/n regretted not signing with AEW when she got the chance. I could see it in her eyes. In the few years of the company’s existence, they managed to change the world. I knew deep down that I should have pushed harder for Y/n to go but I was too selfish, I’ll never forget that and promised myself I would repay the favour one day.
That day came sooner than I thought. One day Y/n and I got called into NJPW headquarters to discuss some classified information. I was skeptical and honoured that they wanted us to be a part of such a secret meeting. I was shocked to see that one of the many important faces in the room was none other than Tony Khan himself. He explained that he’s a huge fan of ours and that he would like to have a joint PPV with AEW and NJPW called Forbidden Door. He explained the concept and I was interested. This was a great way to show the American crowd Japanese wrestling and vice versa. I knew this would break the wrestling world, this had never been done before. Dream matches would be made, people all over the world would be talking about this. Best of all Y/n and I were going to be promoting the event. They wanted us to go scout out AEW for who we thought would work best with our talent along with building stories for who we would want to face. Of course, we agreed and soon enough we raided All Elite Wrestling.
During the main event on an episode of Dynamite Y/n and I emerged from the crowd and attacked the people in the ring. By this point, people knew of the joint PPV but didn’t know who would be in it or who would be the first to make a move. Y/n grabbed a mike and introduced us to the crowd, but to our surprise, no introduction was needed. They knew who tf we were. “In case you dumb Americans don’t know who we are, let us introduce ourselves. That right there is Jay Mother Fucken White, The catalyst of professional wrestling and your current IWGP world heavyweight champion. The first and only Grand Slam Champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling and the very best wrestler in Japan. You must live under a rock if you don’t know who I am. In case you don’t recognize me, my name is Y/n Y/l/n or as they call me in Japan ‘The Goddess of Love’. Jay and I lead Bullet Club and have taken over wrestling in Japan.  We’re simply the best that Japan has to offer so of course we had to come check out All Elite Wrestling. I’ll admit it’s cute here, different but cute. Boo us all you want but whether you like it or not you will be seeing a lot more of us. We will take over All Elite Wrestling and you all will have no choice but to breathe with the Switchblade!” Just like I thought, they ate it up. Y/n and I made history yet again.
In the weeks leading up to Forbidden Door, many talent from Japan started appearing. The card was booked and everything was going perfectly. I was booked to face Okada, Adam Cole and Hangman Page in a four-way for my title and Y/n would get to wrestle AEW women’s champion Thunder Rosa in a non-title match. I had a good feeling about this show. I knew our matches would go well, one might say they went too well.
Just like I said we would Y/n and I both won our matches. Y/n’s match was so good that after the show Tony Khan proposed Y/n a contract. I felt as if I had gone back in time, we were here before, this was her second chance. “I’ll let you think about it, I don’t need an answer right away,” Tony told her. “So, what do you want to do?” I asked Y/n. “I want to take it, this one is even better than the one they offered me three years ago. I really like it here. There is more opportunity, new opponents, and fuck, that paycheck.” I was so proud of Y/n, I wanted her to take that contract and run as far as she could with it. Sure being far away would be hard but this was my turn to take a step back and let Y/n follow her dreams.
Y/n accepted the contract and made her surprise debut a few months later in October. This time when we sat together in our flat packing everything there were no sad tears. Instead, we savoured the time we had. We were moving on, we were opening a new door, experiencing a new chapter in life and in my gut I knew this would be the best one yet. “I’m going to miss you, Jamie” “I’m going to miss you too Y/n. I’m only one call and one plane trip away” I told her reassuringly. “Yeah except that flight is 14hrs and I’ll be lucky if I can get a direct flight”
***
Once Y/n left, truthfully I was a mess. I didn’t know what to do with myself, we spent every second of every day together. I would come home and expect Y/n waiting for me with open arms but she never was. Our once-shared flat that used to be filled with colour and life was now cold, dark and dead. All of her things were gone, it felt so empty without her. I didn’t realize it at the time but I had fallen into a deep depression. Every night I lay in bed alone, unable to sleep. I would spend the night staring at the empty space next to me, trying to picture Y/n there but I was unable to do so. We called twice a day but it wasn’t the same, I needed her next to me. Along with being unable to sleep I also couldn't find myself able to eat. I had lost all appetite. Y/n would spend hours making the most delicious foods you could imagine even with being a full-time wrestler. Every weekend we would have people over, but now I had no one. I knew how to cook but all I could get myself to make was toast while I sat in the dark.
I hated that I felt this way. Y/n was finally getting her break, she was making millions and doing all of these amazing things while I was over here feeling bad for myself. I was still the IWGP champion but I had no motivation to get out of my bed, let alone wrestle. Cowardly I called NJPW headquarters and put in my sick days. I couldn't let anyone see me in such a state. Y/n had been gone for a month but it felt like she had been gone forever, I felt like I had lost her for good.
One night I was drinking away my sorrows when I heard a loud knock on my door. I couldn't get myself to move off the floor, even if I could I didn’t want to open the door anyways. I wanted to be alone. The knocking wouldn’t stop. Whoever it was wouldn’t leave me alone. “Go away!” I yelled through the door. “It’s me, Riley, come on Jay open up” I wasn’t expecting my best friend El Phantasmo or ‘Riley’ to be on the other side. “Leave me alone Riley” “Don’t make me come in there” I didn’t move. Y/n must have given Riley her keys because he let himself inside, once he spotted me he stopped in his tracks, he looked like he saw a ghost.
Before I could even say anything Riley cut me off. “Y/n gave me her keys once she left. She wanted me to keep an eye on you. I came over because she said you had been ignoring her calls for days. Not to mention everyone at the Dojo is worried about you, we haven’t seen you in weeks” What was he talking about? Y/n hadn’t been calling me. I checked my phone and did indeed find 30 missed calls and about fifty texts over the past four days. “What’s going on man, you look like shit” “I’m fine, I don’t know what you are talking about” Riley gave me a disapproving look before his phone rang. “Yeah, I’m with him right now. Yes, Y/n he’s alive. No, you don’t need to come over here. I’ll look after him. Okay, yes, I will. I’ll tell him. Now get some rest, it’s late over there. Bye Y/n” I felt ashamed of myself.
Riley sat down on the ground next to me and asked “What’s going on? Whatever it is you’re going through you can tell me.” “I don’t know Riley. I can’t eat, I can’t sleep. I can’t do anything, I feel useless. I know this is pathetic of me to say and I will sound selfish but I need Y/n. I’m going crazy without her. I don’t know what’s wrong with me” Riley said nothing, he just let me get everything out. “It’s okay to miss her, Jay. We all miss her but you need to stop relying on her for everything. She’s not always going to be there and hold your hand. You almost made her fly out here Jay.” “Why am I feeling this way?” I asked Riley “Because you love her. I know you know that but you love, love her. I know you have that ring, we picked it out ages ago. If you’re so worried about losing her I think you should think about popping the question. I mean you have been together for the past five years” He was right
That night I left my flat for the first time in weeks, I forgot what the outside world was like. Riley and I walked around the streets of Tokyo and just talked. It was therapeutic, we went out to eat at Y/n’s favourite sushi place and I knew I couldn't keep living like this. I needed to be a supportive partner, I needed to finish what we started together in Japan. Instead of doing everything with Y/n, I needed to be doing everything for her. I had to be a defending champion for her, I needed to main-event Wrestle-kingdom to prove I could take care of myself.
I needed to get my life back on track. I didn’t even realize how much I was impacted by Y/n’s departure. I looked sickly, I wasn’t eating or working out. I had lost a decent amount of muscle and looked pale as a ghost. I wasn’t lying when I said I was sick, this was just a different kind of sick.
***
Instead of sulking, when I missed Y/n the most I would either watch our old matches together or give her a call. I felt bad calling her when I couldn't sleep at 3 am but she reminded me of the time difference. 3 am for me was 5 pm for her but she insisted I call whenever I please even if it’s the middle of the night, so I did just that. This particular evening I was missing her the most, the holidays were soon approaching and I was sad we coudn’t spend them together. “How’s everything going in Japan?” Y/n asked me “It’s alright, I miss you. It’s not the same here without you” I told her honestly. “I know, I’m sorry I can’t be there for Christmas but I have some good news that will make up for it” “What’s that?” I asked curiously “Well, I talked with TK and since I’m working all the holiday shows I can come back to Japan for Wrestle Kingdom!” She said excitedly through the phone. I coudn’t believe what I was hearing. “What’s the catch? There’s always s catch, is it a 24-hour trip?” “Nope, no catch. I asked to do all the Christmas shows so I can come out to see you. I have almost two weeks with you. 13 days, I’ll only miss one week of TV!” “That’s great honeybee, I can’t wait to see you!” “Your main eventing the Tokyo Dome, I wouldn’t miss it for the world!” “I love you, Y/n” “I love you too Jay”

Those few weeks leading up to the Tokyo Dome went by fast and before I knew it I was reunited with the love of my life. It was weird not having Y/n by my side when I took on Okada in the main event of that year’s Wrestle Kingdom but having her front row cheering me on was just as good. Even though I lost I was grateful that I had Y/n there with me. She was always there when I needed her the most and boy did I need her. We spent the remained of Y/n’s trip to Japan spending quality time together. We made the most passionate love to make up for the time spent away and explored the city we became one with.
In the back of my mind, I knew my contract was expiring. Y/n knew of this and I know she wanted me to come to AEW but the truth was they didn’t offer me anything yet. I had many offers from other promotions but the one I wanted most simply didn’t exist yet. For the first time in my career, I was scared, scared of what the future held. I never told Y/n my troubles, instead I faced them alone. I agreed to a loser leaves NJPW match with Eddie Kingston and hoped for the best. I lost that match and felt like a failure, Y/n was front row for that match and I’ll never forget the look on her face when I lost. She comforted me after the match and tried to convince me to join her in AEW. I lied and told her they never offered me a contract when in reality they did and I accepted it. “What do you mean? They love you! I’m sure they will offer you a contract, Jay!” I felt bad for lying but I wanted all of this to be a surprise.
I made my surprise debut in April and although Y/n was mad I didn’t tell her she was happy we were together again. I could have gone anywhere in the world but I needed Y/n by my side.
I took Riley’s advice and proposed to Y/n. “My heart beats for no one but you. Every day I spent without you killed me. I love you so much Y/n. I would do anything and everything for you. Us being apart for those six months made me realize I coudn’t spend another day without you. Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n, would you marry me?”
So yeah the real reason I joined AEW was to be with the love of my life, my wife. I’d die without her, my heart beats for no one but her.

Finlay is the designated pickle-jar-opener of the relationship. While Malenia is the stronger of the two, her metal hand isn't great for gripping things without any give, like glass.
If Malenia has to open her own jars, either the jar stays shut or the jar ends up as a handful of broken glass. There is no in-between.

My Goodbye
Tumblr media
Characters: Finlay Holmes (OC) & Sherlock Holmes
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Warnings: none
Summary: After a case goes wrong due to Fin's sentiment, brothers Sherlock and Fin argue about the place of emotion in detective work, with Fin dismissed from Sherlock's tutelage as too weak, leading to a bitter rift between the two.
The moonlight shone through the window of 221B Baker Street. Finlay Holmes sat awake in the dark, unable to sleep as memories of Rose haunted his mind. He had tried everything to save her from the curse of lycanthropy but failed. All he had succeeded in doing was make her into a monster.
Fin heard footsteps descending the stairs and knew his brother Sherlock was awake too, no doubt thinking through their latest case. He wasn't surprised when Sherlock entered the living room and flipped the switch, light flooding the area.
"Still dwelling on past failures, Finlay?" Sherlock said coldly.
Fin didn't meet his gaze. "I only wanted to help her."
Sherlock scoffed. "Sentiment is a chemical defect found in the losing side. You let your emotions cloud your judgement and that is why the case was never solved."
"At least I cared about helping people!" Fin shot back, stung. "All you care about is proving how smart you are."
Sherlock's eyes flashed. "Caring is not an advantage, Finlay. I thought I had taught you that. Emotions will only drag you down and cause you to make mistakes."
"So I'm just supposed to shut off all my human feelings then?" Fin cried angrily.
"Feelings have no place in the logical pursuit of the truth," Sherlock said coldly. "Which is why you will never be as great a detective as I am. You're too weak."
Fin jumped up, fists clenched. "Just because you've cut yourself off from the world doesn't make you superior. There is strength in compassion."
Sherlock gazed at his brother dispassionately. "Is that what you tell yourself to justify your failure? Pity will not solve cases, Finlay. If you do not learn to control your emotions, you will only continue to fail."
Fin trembled with anger and pain, tears welling in his eyes. Without a word, he turned and fled up the stairs, unable to bear another word from his harsh brother. Sherlock watched him go impassively, but deep inside, he too felt a tiny flicker of regret at driving his younger sibling to such despair.
Fin reached the top of the stairs, breathing heavily. Sherlock's accusations had hit their mark - was he becoming too soft? Too prone to letting his heart rule his head?
He heard Sherlock ascending behind him. "You know I speak the truth, Finlay. Ever since that girl, you've been sloppy in your work."
Fin spun around angrily. "Don't bring Rose into this. I was trying to help her."
"And look where your efforts led - to failure and disaster. Your sentiment compromised the case from the beginning." Sherlock's eyes bored into his brother's. "You've let caring cloud your judgment. That will be your downfall if you do not learn control."
Fin knew deep down Sherlock was right, as much as he hated to admit it. Had he approached the case with more detachment from the start, things might have turned out differently. But could he truly shut off his capacity for empathy, as his brother seemed to have done?
Fin looked away, pained by the truth in Sherlock's words. Sherlock continued, his voice almost gentle in its reproach.
"Caring will not serve you well in our line of work, Finlay. I had hoped to teach you to shut away distractions and let logic be your guide. Like myself, and Mycroft. Where did I go wrong in your training that left you still susceptible to emotion over reason?"
Fin had no answer. Sherlock sighed. "I warned you attachment would only lead to heartache. The Rose case was a test, and you failed by becoming too personally invested. For your own good, I suggest honing your detachment. It is the path to becoming as great a thinker as I."
Sherlock regarded Fin coldly as he was met with silence. "It is clear my teachings have not stuck as they should. No more will I waste my time trying to mold you into the logical detective I had hoped for. You are dismissed from your apprenticeship."
Fin met his gaze defiantly. "You may claim emotion is a weakness, brother, but I believe true strength lies in maintaining one's humanity even in the darkest of times."
"Spare me your sentimental platitudes," Sherlock sneered. "I will solve my cases through reason alone. You are welcome to wallow in feelings and no doubt fail time and again as a result. Consider this my final lesson - caring will not make you a great man."
Fin glared at Sherlock, unwilling to back down from his principles even now. He scoffed as Sherlock dismissed him coldly.
"Of course this is how you react. Emotions are inconvenient to the great Sherlock Holmes, so you discard anyone touched by them. But we do not all have the luxury of shutting ourselves off from human connections and compassion."
Fin met Sherlock's icy gaze with mingled anger and sorrow. Despite their differences, part of him had always seen Sherlock as an older brother and mentor.
"While you retreat into your mind palace, I am left dealing with the real consequences of our cases. The lives impacted, the grief that remains. Tell me Sherlock - what good is brilliant deduction if it does not also serve to relieve suffering in this world?"
Sherlock did not deign to respond, but Fin saw a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. Perhaps not all hope was lost that one day, Sherlock might learn there was merit to balancing logic with humanity.
Fin spoke to Sherlock with thinly veiled anger and pain, "So that is how you wish this to end - with your cold dismissal. Very well, brother. Consider me out of your precious mind palace from here on. I shall not darken your door with my inferior sentiments ever again."
He took a step closer to stare directly into Sherlock's impassive eyes. "You claim to do this for my sake, but we both know your pride cannot stand the existence of another viewpoint. No matter - from this day forth, I am excised from your life as neatly as one of your experiments. I wish you joy in your solitude, Sherlock Holmes."
With that bitter parting shot, Fin spun on his heel and strode toward the stairs, refusing to shed another tear where his brother could see. Though it pained him deeply, he vowed then and there to forge his own path without the elder Holmes' domineering shadow.
As Fin reached the stairs, Sherlock's icy voice stopped him in his tracks. "Do not flatter yourself that you were ever more than a subject in one of my experiments, Finlay. I aimed to sculpt an unfeeling machine for logic, not foster any lasting bond."
Fin turned to face Sherlock once more, eyes blazing with hurt pride. "And what a waste of potential your experiment proved to be, since sentiment yet remains in me as in any human being. I see now your true purpose was merely to prove your own brilliance, not impart any true wisdom."
Fin continued down the stairs, but then was overwhelmed by a surge of emotion as he heard no response from his brother. He turned back to face Sherlock, hands clenched tightly as he struggled to maintain composure.
"You claim such wisdom and intellect, brother, yet you remain alone with only your work for company. While I fight every day to ease suffering and make meaningful connections with others. Should friendship and love not be part of a full life, no matter the sacrifices? I pity you your isolation, even as you scorn mine as weakness."
Sherlock met his gaze coolly, giving no indication these words had landed. But Fin saw a tiny flicker of something - regret, loneliness, he could not be sure - flash behind the icy facade before Sherlock turned away once more.
Fin stood at the bottom of the stairs, tears still threatening to fall despite his best efforts. He wondered sadly if this rift could ever be healed.
Sherlock looked down at him coldly. "Your hope that I will one day see the value in sentiment is misplaced, little brother. Logic alone has served me well thus far in life. But by all means, waste your energy clinging to childish notions of compassion if you must. Time will show which of us has taken the wise path."
With that parting shot, Sherlock turned away once more. Fin sighed, heart heavy. He knew only time would tell if his brother could be swayed, or if this was truly goodbye to the mentor he had so respected. For now, all he could do was pursue his own vision of justice - one guided by both head and heart.
it's a bit shorter than my other fics but i hope you enjoy!

Mine Pt 4
This will be a six part story. This chapter has no smut.
The Forbidden Door meeting
Tumblr media
I wake up before Jay, my mind refusing to shut off. I lay there in the early morning light watching him sleep. I’m overwhelmed by how much I’m falling in love with him my chest gets tight at the thought that he might get hurt because of me. A tear falls down my face. Jays eyes open “ Hey, what’s wrong?” Still half asleep, “Nothing”I say and try to smile. Now fully awake “We don’t do that remember” He’s rolls on his side facing me. “So I’m going to ask you again, what’s wrong?” I can tell he’s bracing himself. “ I’m worried you’re going to get hurt because of me.” His hand strokes my face moving a strand of hair, “It won’t be because of you, it’s real but we will all be professionals. Besides I’d bet you’d be cute in a nurses outfit.” I laugh and the tension is broken.
Jays phone rings, “Hey Will, she’s fine why? I don’t think she’s looked at her phone in the past two days. No that’s exactly what happened, yeah I haven’t talked to anyone over there yet. I appreciate it man, I’ll repay you the favor. You’re right an excuse to get Finlay out is a good enough reason. I’ll let her know.” he hangs up. “ Apparently you need to look at your phone, you’ve got a good portion of people worried about you.”
I sigh heavily and pick up my phone, and hand it to Jay. “Please, I can’t right now.” He scrolls through my messages and I can tell he’s deleting the ones that he knew I wouldn’t want to read. “Your dad texts like a psycho.” Handing me back the phone.
I start to read the text out loud
The Bang Bang Brats
“Are you our new mom?”
ELP <3
Tell Jay GOD is ready to join Gold.
Ospreay
Whatever you need it’s yours? I had no clue about your dad and Finlay, next time you decide to get married let a guy know okay. I’m sorry love I wasn’t there for you.
ZSJ
You’ve got to be fucking kidding me Finlay really? Why didn’t you say something, I could’ve done something. You really got a thing for those Bullet Club boys, I warned you about them years ago. I have to say of the lot Jay is the best of them. Be happy love, it’ll all be fine, if you need anything let me know.
“I’m glad I read them”I sighed and smiled. I leaned my head over on Jays shoulder, he put his hand in mine brushing my knuckles. “ I’m glad you did to, it seems you have quite the fan club. Love” in the absolute worst British accent I’ve ever heard, his eyes showing his amusement when I turned to look at him. He kissed me softly, resting his forehead on mine. “We better get ready before, I cancel the meetings and we just stay here. “
We got ready and were downstairs when the first knock came. Matt,Nick, Page, Cole, Kenny Tony and Rocky were all there. Followed by a catering team , who asked where to set up . “ Just put it on the island “ Jay said casually winking at me, as he predicted my face turned pink.
I sat beside him at the table. Everyone else gathered with Tony at the head of one end with Kenny at the other. Jays body tensed as he stares down the table at Kenny. I put my hand on his thigh trying to give him support, he could never let being Kenny’s young boy go, mainly because Kenny insisted on reminding him of it at any chance he had.
Tony started “ Good Morning, I trust everyone had a good evening last night. Thank you all for being here. I was told the result of the private vote was to move forward with a forbidden door program. I’ve spoken with President Tannashi and he agrees that it’s time for the Bullet Club Civil War. The only stipulation is that it can be any member of the club that was current or retired prior to Saturdays incident. We will need rosters from each group and we will be preparing the matches out of interest and fairness. However the main event will be David vs Jay. Loser loses his club, the winner has the right to include or exclude the others current members, but only one club will be recognized after the match. “
A low rumbling went around the table as the words sank in.
Tony slides a contract towards me, “ I’m presenting you both with a talent and employment contract. You will see that the terms of talent are through forbidden door but that the employment offer for you to be in talent relations is a five year deal. You’ve worked hard and you deserve this. However, you will need to be on screen with Jay, I will leave that to the two of you to discuss how and what the presentation is going to be. “ My eyes were as big as saucers, I never wanted to be on screen talent. Jay took my hand under the table and gave it a squeeze.
“Thank you, I don’t know what to say other than thank you.” I said.
Kenny spoke next “ Jay, you really couldn’t let Japan go could you. I left the keys in your hands you had it all but you had to come here you had to bring Bullet Club with you. You’ve had to make your mess my mess. Now you’re trying to be the savior of bullet club because it’s all you have. I don’t even understand why I’m here or what I have to do with any of this. I’m part of the Elite and was part of the version of Bullet Club that brought this whole thing to prominence. The fact that this all over some girl who was making shitty choices because she has Daddy issues. “
With that Jay slid back from the table and yanked Kenny up by his collar. “Say what you want about me, but you keep her out of your mouth. You don’t even realize that your best days are behind you, Ospreay and I both made sure of that, and if I need to I’ll finish it myself. If you want to align with Finlay go ahead, I’ll take on the both of ya. As for now though get the fuck out of my house.”
Matt and Nick got in between both of them. Jay let Kenny go, but dared him to say anything further. “Matt Nick let’s go” Kenny said. “Not this time Kenny. You’ve gone too far.”Matt said regretfully . Kenny looked around the table for support , none of the other men will meet his eyes. I however refused to look away from him my jaw set firm, and hard. Kenny stormed out the front door slamming it behind him.
“He’ll calm down, he’s out injured anyway. He insisted on being here because he’s an EVP. I’m sorry I didn’t expect him to disrespect your home. The fact that you’re prioritizing someone you care about, is a regret he still has and has never gotten over“ Matt said .
“Who have you heard from?” Tony asked changing the subject .
“As for Japan, you really don’t have much support Jay. The War Dogs, Kenta, Owens , House of Torture are all together. GOD said they texted you to let you know that they will be aligning with Gold. You have a lot of support from United Empire and TMDK that have offered to do matches on the road to forbidden door in hopes that they can keep them fatigued. That’s about all you’ve got. “ Rocky said
“ So I need what 10 -12 guys? “ Jay said “Closer to 15 guys I’m afraid.” Rocky said.
“Matt, Have you heard from AJ , Deviit or Cody?”
“ they’re all sitting this out, which numbers wise works better for us. “ Matt confirmed.
“ What about Austin and Bey?” I asked trying to do the math in my head.
Jay picked up his phone “ Hey Chris, I need to know where you are on this whole thing. We’d love to have y’all. Thanks man talk soon.” They’re in . I think we have our numbers..”
“I want Gabe “ Page said abruptly, “he’s been running his mouth too fucking long about me. It needs to be a death match.”
“We want Connor’s and Maloney they keep shitting on our legacy. I’m sick of it. “ Nick added
“ I think Japan would be agreeable to this.” Tony said and Rocky nodding his head.
“ Cole do you have anyone you’d like to take out personally? “ Jay asked
“Coughlin, and if I’ve got to team with page to get to him then that’s what we need to do death match and all. “ Cole not loving the idea of a death match but wanting Coughlin more.
“What about you sweetheart, what do you want out of this?” Jay asked
“ I just want to y’all to come out safe.” I said.
“That’s no fun sweetheart, I mean who do you want to slap, or kick in the balls, something that you get to do on the talent side. “
“My father, and Finlay.” Laughing at the idea.
“Tony you’ve created a monster, I’m afraid . She’s been thinking about this a while. Britt can help her get ring ready..” Cole offered
“I think that’s it for a while guys I’ll get the paperwork to you for signature and review.” Which was the dismissal from Tony.
Everyone stayed a little longer. They wanted to talk about my on screen presentation. “ I never thought I’d be on screen, I was content in the background.” I said. “ Well you’ve been given two contracts from Tony so you’re in. Now it’s about your presentation, you’ll need one move that you can execute well. .” Matt said. “ What’s your favorite move of all time. “ Jay asked“ The Superkick” the other four men answered in unison. Jay looked at me “Seriously?” I shrugged my shoulders "I was an hbk fan what can I say. “
“She actually has a fairly decent one, we’ve worked with her on it before. She wanted Shawn’s so I worked on it with her it’s been a while though.” Cole shrugged “ What style is she going for asked Page, the bullet club bunnies aren’t going to work….” I’m not doing that hell no.” I cut him off abruptly. “ I think I just want a slightly sexy black and gold look. Jeans, heels a tank or bustier. “ I was actually feeling pretty pleased with the idea.
“ You’ll wear my jacket though, we can modify one, you can have either the switchblade or bullet club logo. If you go with the logo I’d like you to wear a golden switch blade necklace. Just on camera.” Jay said. "Now wait a minute, you don’t need for it to look like you own her.” Page said “ I’m okay with it, it’s pretty rock n roll actually. I’d rather look rock n roll than a ring rat, besides bullet club has always been cool. And it’s something we are all doing together. I’m going to go with the gold logo and the necklace. When I’m with everyone and if it’s just Jay and I I’ll have the switchblade logo. I need not to be damsel in distress.” The guys seem to be in agreement and they started working on story lines. I needed a break, so I excused myself.
I found myself a little place on the back porch in a rocking chair that overlooked the property. “ How are you doing Darlin?” Page asked handing me a glass of whiskey
“It’s been a lot, but I’m happy.” I smiled
“So you and Jay huh? “ he questioned
“He and I spent a lot of time together when y’all left for AEW. It was he and I and the new bullet club for a while. we hung out a ton he and I shared an apartment as room mates. It feels right, and honestly I was a little surprised how comfortable this all is. He gets me Adam, when I ran out of the wedding and I was in the car and started having a panic attack, he got me through it like it was the most normal thing in the world. He didn’t bring it up or make me feel shitty about it. I think I’m in love with him.”
Jay was stepping out on the porch, with a blanket.
“I’m gonna head back in, I just wanted to check on you.” as page started to excuse himself. “ Hey Adam, don’t feel like you’ve got to go on my account. I need everyone to understand nothings changed she still needs you guys. Honestly I was bringing her a blanket the wind from the north kicks up and it can get cool quick. “ Jay handed me a blanket and a kiss on the top of the head and disappeared back inside.
“Who the fuck was that guy and what did you do with Jay ?” I just laughed , page took a seat on the wooden steps and looked out. The easy quiet. It’s always been easy to be quiet with him. He broke the silence as the sun started going down, “I’m happy for you. Kenny was out of line and you deserve what all the rest of us have a safe place that feels like home. Matt said he took care of you on the contracts, none of us want you to be obligated to be in a position that you need anyone but yourself.”“Thanks Adam”, he bent down as hugged me.
I followed him back inside realizing he was the last one leaving. As I walked him out Jay came out of the kitchen. “Everything okay? “ he said . “ Yeah, it’s what we do, we sit in silence, sometimes it’s a big conversation, sometimes it’s nothing. Its nice knowing someone is there.” I walked towards him his arms opened and pulled me in.
“So you’re in love me” he said softly, “ I am” I answered back.
I pull back and I’m trying to read his face, “”Are you okay ? I didn’t mean for you to hear that, I’m not trying to…”
“ Sweetheart , that was the best part of my day, I need you to know that. In answer to your question no I’m not okay, Kenny got under my skin again. He’s just a smug son of a bitch. “
I took his hand and led him to the couch I sat down, “ Sit down in front of me. I’m going to take care of you but go ahead and keep talking.” He sat down between my legs and faced the fire in the hearth. I began running my fingers through his hair massaging his scalp. “ He’s always been a dick, he was so mad when I wouldn’t join his club , he couldn’t stand that I wouldn’t bow to the great Kenny Omega. That I could do more outside of his shadow that I didn’t need his approval, I had Okadas. That’s when my game began to take what was his. Today when he started in on you that was it. “ I pull his hair a little bit just enough to break his tension, “That feels good. it’s been along time since someone took care of me. Sure there were women but they all wanted the character, not me. I got to the point I looked forward to the dinners you’d make in that tiny apartment, the way you’d stream terrible television, the way you’d watch AEW studying it, but also buying completely in. “ I move my hand to the back of his neck rubbing the knots out of his neck, he groaned, then continued “ I’ve been in love with you for years. Your selfless nature, your kind heart, the way you’d support and comfort all of us. I loved the way you put the jacket on me before I went out to the ring, the way you’d take care of me when I was injured . You’d listen to me rant, scream and breakdown.” He reached back and took my hands off his neck and turned around kneeling in front of me. “Marry Me, I mean will you marry me?”
I gasped at his words, my brain processing everything he said tears came down my face, “ Yes Jay I will.”

'...June 2007....there’s a near-10-year-old me that still gets scared at certain episodes of What's New, Scooby-Doo...
I’m more than happy to stick to comedies and cartoons, taking every measure imaginable to avoid the horrors of horror.
That is, until an episode of Doctor Who comes on the screen, featuring (or, rather, not really featuring) my Converse-wearing, pinstripe suit-donning idol in David Tennant’s 10th Time Lord, alongside Carey Mulligan’s Sally Sparrow, being hunted down by a group of angel statues out for blood.
That’s right, in the blink of an eye, Blink arrived - and so did my appreciation of what horror could do. (Or, at least, what it could do in a pre-watershed sci-fi series on the BBC - perfect for a fearful primary schooler like myself.)
Sure, this is no kill-heavy slasher in the form of Scream, and no paranormal mind-bender in the shape of The Conjuring, but Blink – perhaps the single most popular episode of the new Doctor Who era – demonstrates the genre’s ability to get under the skin and into the minds of the audience.
And, even with a PG rating and some questionable CGI, it does it masterfully well.
Blink’s greatest strength is its ability to establish a sense of creeping dread, of consistent threat, that is properly unnerving.
The feeling of being watched is one of the most disturbing one can experience, and has been explored throughout horror history - from Michael Myers taunting Laurie Strode from the shadows in 1978’s Halloween to Rory Kinnear’s birthday suit-wearing stalker drifting into the edge of the frame in last year’s Men, there’s very little that unsettles more than being followed.
There’s something mentally exhausting about the idea of never being able to rest, of not being able to drop your guard for even a moment, which can drive you insane - and Steven Moffat’s concrete-looking creations provide the perfect example of this.
You see, with the Weeping Angels, turning your back, trying to run away, or even taking your eye off their haunting expressions for a split second could spell the end of the road - just ask Amy Pond.
In the words of Tennant’s frantic Doctor, "Blink and you’re dead".
Is there any concept more terrifying than having the most basic human action rendered potentially life-threatening? This inescapable danger is draining, debilitating.
As we viewers watch Sally and Finlay Robertson’s Larry Nightingale navigate the nightmare they find themselves in, we grimace each time they turn their heads, and scream at the TV as we spot an angel moving ever closer.
It’s the sort of pulse-racing tension that only the horror genre can provide, and it lingers long in the memory.
Yet director Hettie Macdonald notches up the fear even further, ending the episode by turning her attention from Sally on the screen to us on the sofa at home, repeating Tennant’s iconic speech alongside real-life clips of gargoyles, statues and sculptures to ensure this isn’t just a concept that’s confined to the telly, but one that continues to stick with you even after you hit the big red button on the remote.
I know I, for one, lost many a night’s sleep in the weeks following that episode, as I feared that shutting my eyes to get some shut-eye would spell the end of my time on Earth (stop laughing, I said I was 10), and I’ll still remain resolute whenever I visit a cathedral or graveyard, determined to make sure those creepy creatures don’t get the drop on me. Thanks for that, Moffat.
As if the terror of being tailed from the shadows isn’t unnerving enough, though, the design of the Weeping Angels themselves ensures things are lifted to another level.
Visual effects producer Will Cohen and his team take something that is meant to be reassuring, gentle, holy, and turn it completely on its head.
As the angels switch from passive and peaceful to aggressive and menacing, their demonic faces take up the screen with a look of pure evil, accompanied by a smattering of thunder that still catches me off guard on the 18th watch.
Similar to clowns in the likes of It or dolls in the likes of Chucky, there’s an added shock factor that comes with witnessing something that’s traditionally 'good' going bad. Where once there was joy, there’s now malice, a threat - and if good can turn against you, what can’t?
All of this is hammered home by the fantastic leading performance from Mulligan. Through Sally, we see an everyday protagonist thrown directly into hell. We could easily be Sally ourselves, confused, overwhelmed and completely out of our depth, making it easy to properly experience these horrors through her.
Like the aforementioned Laurie in Halloween or Sidney Prescott in the Scream franchise, Sparrow is in no way prepared for her journey, an ordinary person in an extraordinary scenario, who’s unable to fully rely on a hero’s help - instead having to find her own way out of trouble.
And Mulligan delivers the twists and turns of this torturous 45 minutes with all of the nuance you’d expect from a future Oscar nominee.
Yet, what makes Blink truly special is that it delivers all of these thrills, scares and mental scars without the need for excessive blood splatters or easy cliches.
Through the simple combination of a killer script, top performances and a toe-curlingly terrifying concept, this beloved episode of Doctor Who provides everything horror has to offer, all without leaving the confines of a PG rating.
It may have come out 16 years ago now (yes, it is really that long ago), but Blink is still the ideal introduction to the genre - and a perfect Halloween watch, if you’re too scared to see Saw.'

i'm just see through faded, jaded
Jay White & David Finlay
[Ao3]
David Finlay just can't get rid of Jay White.
"You'll never be me," said the Jay White in the reflection, "No matter how hard you try."
David stared. He wasn't surprised that Jay was back. After such a brief dominant streak he fell from grace again at the hands of Nic Nemeth. What was supposed to be a historic first title run cut short.
"I don't want to be you." He lied through his teeth, trying to focus on himself instead of the Jay White in the mirror.
"C'mon Davey we both know that isn't true. Hell you're ever trying to look like me. I used to dye my hair darker too, kept it wet."
"Shut up." His knuckles were white from clenching his fists, short nails digging into his own palms. This Jay wasn't the real Jay, he knew that much, but he was real enough to him. He knew this is exactly what Jay would be saying.
"At least I could keep a title belt--"
"I SAID SHUT UP!" David whips around to confront Jay, but he isn't there. He looks back at the mirror and Jay isn't there either.
Taking an unsteady breath he looks at himself.
And there's only David Finlay.
Alone, once again.
