So SI Swimsuit 2022 dropped today. And I noticed there’s no BTS videos for Kim Kardashian. Like has that ever happened before? (Also wish Nina Agdal would come back)

She's not the only one, I guess they still have to upload them... And I love Nina as well but SI is not good anymore, I don't like what they're doing and I don't mind if she stays far away from this mess.

Sorry I said “damn “ so much in my earlier ask but I was so happy and excited and forgot to watch my language. I can’t wait to see the photo’s. Since you were a model and know a lot about the industry do you think Aarika will be allowed to post pictures of her shoot on IG? Like out takes? I know SI most likely owns the rights but do they ever allow their models to post their pics? I’m sure she won’t post any before the issue comes out but after? Or maybe a sneak peak before?

I damn well know how you felt. HA! I’m sorry but we’ll have to wait until February because the magazine naturally wants seeing the photos to be a reason to buy their print edition. There will also be YouTube bts videos for each of the models starting in November. Like here’s Cassie Amato’s casting call video from 2016:

They also have on-location bts videos. Heck, just go to YouTube, type “sports illustrated swimsuit” into the search field & dozens of 'em will come up. The coveted cover spot is a secret until an unveiling ceremony.

Australian curvy model Kate Wasley will be following in the footsteps of supermodel Ashley Graham. The 23-year-old beauty will be part of this year’s Sport’s Illustrated swimsuit issue and has hopes of being named the rookie of the year.

Wasley is a fierce body-positive activist. Alongside fellow Aussie model Georgia Gibbs, she has created an Instagram page called Any BODY, with the slogan “beauty has no boundaries.” Their aim is to create a safe place where women of all shapes and sizes are equally celebrated. Gibbs was also selected to be part of the SI swimsuit issue.

In a recent interview she told Sports Illustrated, “I want to see more plus-size models in advertising, especially in main brands. There’s a lot of progress, but there’s still only a few, mature brands using plus-size models. I want to see it more in younger brands. I want to see the Australian market take it up as well. And I just want to keep inspiring women however I can.”

Wasley is also constantly preaching body positivity to her 175,000 Instagram followers. In a recent post, the model captioned a bikini photo: “If people say nasty things to about you or your appearance, remember that there’s nothing wrong with being confident (thanks, Demi); it stems from their insecurities — you’re NEVER going to please everyone so you might as well wear whatever you want.”

In another post, the model opened up about her own insecurities and her journey to loving and accepting her body. Wasley wrote: “I’ve gone from eating crap every day and never exercising, being so uneducated about health and fitness that I didn’t even know where to start, to eating spinach and tuna day in day out, genuinely not knowing how to eat more than 800 calories, never going out with friends, hating my body and beating myself up if I wasn’t constantly in calorie deficit, to being qualified in personal training and halfway through a nutrition and health promo degree and in a place where I have found balance and acceptance of my size and shape.”

It’s everywhere, force fed to us from such a young age that flawless perfection equals self-worth and beauty.”

I could go on for ages. For now, just keep pushing forward, remind yourself of how much you have to offer the world; what other people think of you, doesn’t matter. You are you and that’s a beautiful power in itself,” she wrote.

If you want an all access tour of Houston, tag along with two gold medalists, Aly Raisman and Simone Biles. Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue 2017 swing through Houston, TX began with a full day of fun on the town. We saw the Houston Zoo, NASA, including ISS Mission Control, shopped for western wear and scarfed up some Mexican food. The BTS videos were produced and shot by the Bozzwicks with a Sony FS7 and Dog Schidt Lenses. Hi! I'm not sure who to ask about this, but why has SI Swimsuit more-or-less abandoned their YouTube channel? Last year, only a 1/3 of the BTS videos made it up there and after that they seem to have forgotten its existed

That was my first impression, too. My Anonymous Chat Buddy (ACB) pointed out that Cassie did not appear in the print edition after her Casting Call audition was uploaded on YouTube.  I did some research & realized the process of selection is much more complex & a model can be eliminated even after photos are taken. Therefore, each model has a set of hurdles before she attains her goal. 

First there is the “honor” of being “invited” to a Casting Call. Watching the bts videos for models who have appeared in issues, I saw an emphasis on them being a fun person. During the audition, a model’s personality is judged. 

Next comes multiple photo shoots. Models wear more than one swimsuit in more than one locale over more than one day. This gives the Editor & Art Director a wide selection of photos from which to chose the ones that will be included in the print edition. The list of each year’s “Rookies” isn’t released until after the pages have been sent into print production. 

And getting the coveted cover is not always about being the most beautiful or sexiest. SI likes to cause a bit of outrage or controversy every year or so. The cover girl is often the most willing to be nearly naked. 

We need to keep sending out positive energy towards Aarika getting photographed then being included in the print edition. Unless this is a year they go for pure beauty & sexiness, I’m not sure I want her on the cover...
