it's me again did you miss me
41
"So this - this is who you've been fucking?"
Sidekick was shaking like a leaf, but Hero couldn't tell if it was from fear, anger, or both.
"Sidekick-" they began, and then they closed their mouth. They didn't know what to say.
"You told me you loved me." Sidekick whispered. "You told me I could trust you."
"I never meant for this to happen-"
"Yes, you did. You fucking wanted this. You wanted the thrill, you wanted the excitement, you wanted to make it hurt."
"Sidekick, I would never-"
"You're a liar, Hero. I'm not just mad at you as a partner. I'm mad at you as a friend - hell, I'm mad at you as a person."
Tears were pricking in Hero's eyes. "Please. Please listen to me, I-"
"No, Hero, because you know what? You like this. You like to hurt people. You tell yourself you don't, but I see the way you 'kindly volunteer' to take over torture for the younger ones. When I got stabbed? Don't think I didn't notice - you were practically drooling."

Clear Away
Warnings: left for dead, wounds, bruises, broken bones
Sidekick trudged through the snow. They focused just on putting one foot in front of the other. They had to focus on one foot at a time or else their mind would wander to the pain.
Pain. So much pain.
Sidekick was fairly certain their right wrist was broken, but that their cheek was only bruised, not broken. Their whole body felt bruised, but their wrist was too swollen to be not broken. They supposed they should consider themself lucky that they were still alive. They had thought it would all end when Other World Beast hurled them at the tree. Their world went dark and they thought that was it.
Clearly Hero did too. Hero was nowhere to be seen when Sidekick came to. Hero couldn't even be bothered to bring their corpse back to Base. If they had, then Sidekick would be healed in the med bay by now.
But instead they trudged through the snow, cursing Hero with each step. Sidekick paused long enough to clear away the snow that had accumulated on their shoulders and back. They needed a plan. Something more than just walking and cursing Hero.
They needed help. That above all else, they needed help. And Hero wasn't the person to give it to them. Sidekick smiled as they changed direction in the snow. Hero may not help them, but Villain would. Villain never left a man behind, even if they were clearly dead. Never left a man behind even if they risked their own life. Hero always split without saving anyone. But not Villain. Villain always helped, even those beyond helping. Yes, Villain would help them.
Perhaps Villain wasn't so terrible after all.

Thought #204
Warning: restraints, swearing
Feel free to change any pronouns if you use this. 😁
Hero pulled up to her house. She had just had the longest day of her life and she just wanted to sleep.
She reached up for her garage door opener and...
Froze.
Her garage was already open. And a car was parked in it. She lowered her hand and studied the car.
Black SUV. No license plate.
Someone got out of the car and Hero's heart dropped.
Not him. How did they find me?
Sidekick stood a foot taller than her and he had his stupid grin she had grown to hate plastered over his face.
Sidekick made his way towards the car.
"Shit." She put her car in reverse.
A car pealed around the street corner and stopped inches behind her car.
"No. No. No." She put her car in drive.
Another car came around the opposite street corner and stopped in front of her.
Sidekick was getting closer.
"I'm not going back." She unbuckled and crawled to the passenger door, throwing it open.
She jumped out of the car and sprinted towards the house across from her.
A hand wrapped around her arm and pulled her back. She stumbled and turned to see Sidekick smiling down at her.
"I'm not going back." She said clawing at Sidekick's hand.
He laughed and swept her up throwing her over his shoulder. "You don't get a choice."
He turned to her house.
"Or did you forget that you signed a contract. As far as I recall you still have three months left."
Hero kicked and hit at his back. "You think I'm actually going to help the group now?"
Sidekick stepped in the house and made his way up to the kitchen. He had already set up a chair in the middle of the room with ropes and duct tape surrounding it.
Hero's heart dropped.
Sidekick threw her to the ground and put his boot on her back.
Hero struggled kicking and fighting. "You're just not going to answer me. Bastard."
Sidekick chuckled and grabbed a length of rope. "I'm just going to let Villain answer your questions."
Hero froze. "He's... here?"
Sidekick grabbed her arms and pulled them together wrapping the rope tightly around her wrists.
"He sure is. And..." he pulled Hero to her feet and pushed her to the chair. "I don't think he's very happy with you."
Hero shook her head and stood. Sidekick pushed her back down. He wrapped a loop of rope around the chair and her wrists. She glared at him.
Sidekick smiled and tapped her nose.
"You're such a bastard. Why am I that important to the group? Why did you need to find me? Why..."
Sidekick rolled their eyes and pushed a balled up sock into her mouth.
"Too many questions." He grabbed the duct tape and put a strip of it over her mouth.
He sat down across from her and chuckled at her glare. "I'll be nice and answer one of your questions."
He pulled a small box from his pocket. Hero's eyes widened.
"I believe you were told to steal this and bring it back to Villain. But instead you disappeared."
Hero closed her eyes and shook her head.
Footsteps echoed through the house and Hero's eyes shot open.
Sidekick stood. "Looks like Villain wants to talk to you now."

Prompt #621
“They’re my nemesis!” [Villain] practically yelled. “That means they belong with me!”
[V Sidekick] rolled their eyes, “Oh whatever, I’m obviously the better match with [Hero]. You don’t even have anything in common with them.”
“Yes we do! We have tons of stuff in common!”
“Oh really,” [V Sidekick] scoffed, “name one non-cape related thing you have in common with [Hero].”
[Villain] remained silent for a moment, the gears in their brain turning. “…I think our cape related activities are a big part of our lives.”
“That’s what I thought.”

Sidekick couldn't see through the tears in their eyes, but at this point, they were greatful for it. Their whole team stood infront of them, their faces full of shock, pity, sadness, sorrow.
A tear rolled down their cheek when they blinked, the tear slowly making its way to the corner of their mouth and dissapeared against their lips.
"Sidekick..." Villain whispered, blinking back tears as they felt their stomach twist.
Sidekick was knelt beside Hero, the other's hand against their head, forcing their head against Hero's lap.
"'m so-sorr-"
Sidekick was cut off as Hero's heavy boot slammed into their gut. They let out a wheezed cry before wrapping their arms around themself, coiled over.
"We talked about this before, you retched thing!" Hero growled before grabbing a fistful of Sidekick's hair, forcing them to look at their own team. Their safety. Just out of reach.
Most of them were crying. Some were fighting against the gaurds that held them. They tried to get to Sidekick but it was no use.
Hero leaned in right up close next to Sidekick, their lips ghosting against Sidekick's ear as they spoke, sending shivers rippling down their back, "Good pets don't speak."

Short Prompt #1019
CW: guns.
“Hero…? Y-You’re freaking me out a little, haha… Y-You okay?” The sidekick nervously laughed, subconsciously looking for exits as the hero cornered them.
Without uttering a word, their partner slowly reached for the gun at their hip.

Prompt #6
Villain's Sidekick being literally a cinnamon roll. He wants to be feared like his Master, but at the same time he has a handwritten sign with glitter, "Sid's Room -- Do NOT Enter!!", on the small storage room he sleeps in.
The Hero has bumped into him so many times before, but he has the policy to not fight him if Sidekick is alone. He feels it would not be fair.
(Sidekick kicking his feet and giggling because he thinks Hero is actually very afraid of fighting him.)

Note: Hi guys! Sooo I may have been gone for a um. Hot minute! But I'm here! (Does a little dance.) This is different from my usual stuff. But I think it should be entertaining. Or not. Either way, I'm back. So!! Yeah!! It's also totally raw. I did not edit it or revise it, so oopsies.
Cw: mention of mutilation, but it doesn't happen.
Prompt 5
"Don't bite anyone." The hero orders, glaring at their sidekick. The alarms in their base were blaring, and they were quickly suiting up. The hero carelessly grabbed at their cape, and swung it over their shoulders.
The sidekick scoffed as they slid their mask over their face. "It was an empty threat!" They retorted, looking into a mirror to ensure they looked fine. "You know I wouldn't actually do something like... that." The sidekick added on, growing quiet at the last word.
"You threatened mutilation. We don't do that." The hero spat, clenching their jaw as they watched the sidekick look into the mirror. They placed a firm hand on their sidekick's shoulder. They started walking towards the exit of the base, dragging their sidekick with them. "Come now, we have business to attend to."
"Fine. Whatever. But all I'm saying, is that I don't have these chompers for no reason. They could be useful!" The sidekick protests, squirming out of the hero's grip and walking behind them at a nimble pace.
The hero narrows their eyes, but they don't offer a proper response. The hero won't entertain that notion. They emerge from the base, and head directly towards the scene of the crime. Upon their arrival, they quickly notice the debris. And there's a lot of debris.
A building has collapsed, and people are screaming under the rubble. "Great." The hero deadpans, rolling their eyes. "This- this is just splendid." They say, throwing their hands to their sides. The hero takes a deep sigh, before shooting the sidekick a sideways look. "Get the people out of there. I'll talk to the authorities and figure out what happened."
The sidekick does a little salute. "Okie dokie." They reply, their tone of voice rather plain. Their sharp teeth are visible when they speak. The hero sighs.
"Can I trust that you won't worsen the situation?" The hero inquires exasperatedly, pinching the bridge of their nose and squeezing their eyes shut.
The sidekick's expression shifts to confusion. "How would I do that?" They question, brows furrowing in confusion.
The hero releases a bitter sigh. "You have your ways." They mumble, turning to speak with the authorities on the scene.
People can be heard screaming, their cries propelling the sidekick into action. They struggle to lift some of the debris, but they power through nonetheless. They trip on rubble, and cut themselves against glass shards from what used to be windows. But the sidekick ignores these setbacks as they pull people out from underneath broken bricks.
The screams die down as people are released, and brought to the safety of the pavement. The streets have been blocked off, for obvious reasons. Families are nestled together, comforting their children. Crying can be heard, but at least it's not screaming. The sidekick emerges from the rubble, leading the final man to safety. They walk slowly, to avoid causing him to stumble and fall.
The sidekick performed their task flawlessly. Once the man is led to safety, they scurry back to the hero. The hero is now checking their watch, looking at the time. "D'ya know what happened here?" The sidekick asks, glancing back at the people. "Was it the villain again? Ugh. I bet it was the villain." They add on, their expression of concern shifting to annoyance at the mere thought.
"Don't worry about it, I'll handle things." The hero says, with a dismissive wave of their hand. They don't even look at the sidekick. The sidekick is relieved that the hero doesn't seem upset with them anymore, at least. The hero then begins to walk off, expecting their sidekick to follow behind. Which, of course, they do. As per usual.
They get back to their base, and the hero immediately starts sifting through files. The sidekick peeks from behind them, looking on curiously. The hero motions for them to step back. The sidekick doesn't, though, still watching with intrigue.
"What do you want?" The hero asks, glancing up at the sidekick.
The sidekick takes a step back now, holding their hands behind their back. "I want to help." The sidekick says, looking down at the files sprawled across the hero's desk.
The hero sighs. "I don't need your help. Go do... whatever people your age do." The hero says, standing up and pointing at the door.
When the sidekick doesn't budge, the hero snaps. "I'm trying to actually get stuff done, and what are you doing? Hm? I'm under a lot of stress. That's not the first building to fall this week. Something big is afoot, and I don't need you interfering." They hiss, their tone of voice stern and unmoving. They aren't yelling, but it's intimidating nonetheless. Perhaps more-so.
"...Sometimes I wonder what the point is." The sidekick mutters, folding their arms across their chest and taking a few steps towards the large, metal door. They stop though, and look back at the hero. They open their mouth to say something else. But nothing comes to mind. The sidekick quickly shakes their head, and walks out the door.

Nightmares
CW: nightmares, recapture
The nightmares had always been there. Since day one, when everything around Sidekick was in disarray, everything changing all too quickly, their night demons were always waiting for the moment of sleep before flooding Sidekick's head.
At first, the nightmares had been loud and fitful, waking Hero almost every night, but as Sidekick had settled into Hero's home and began training, they had learned to keep their mouth shut.
Tonight was no exception. Sidekick still fought day in and day out, even in sleep. When they did wake, they could tell something was off.
At first, they just assumed they had seen it wrong, the shadow by the foot of their bed. They rubbed the sleep from their eyes, and studied the form, convincing themselves it was a figment of their imagination.
Then the figure cleared its throat.
Sidekick's dreams were always different, but there had been one change that was never broken.
Villain's men never spoke, at least not in their dreams.
"Well, am I sure glad to see you again, Sidekick."
A shiver ran up their spine.
"Oh, no need to be afraid, I'm sure Villain will be very pleased to have their little pet back."

The Merry Whump of May—Day 21
“Devil’s advocate”
Tome | Desperation | Hiking Trail
This doesn’t fit the prompt, like, art all but that’s too damn bad
Masterlist
Cw: kidnapping, manhandling/abuse, blood, beating, restraints
Sidekick let out a grunt as the car hit a pothole, their head slamming against the floor of the trunk hard enough to draw tears to their eyes. Pain pulsed like a heartbeat through their skull, stabbing deeper with each labored breath.
Their chest felt tight, unnaturally so, a sharp sting shooting up their side every time they breathed a little too deep, keeping their inhales shallow.
Their hands were secured behind them, two cable zip ties tugged tight enough that they bit into the flesh. Sidekick’s fingertips were beginning to go numb, feeling unnaturally swollen. Their legs bound at the thighs and ankles with a coil of nylon rope, keeping them awkwardly folded behind them. The strain of the position was wearing away at their muscles already, and the rough turns the car kept making wasn’t much help to their bruised body.
With a squeal of the brakes, Sidekick was thrown against the trunk’s interior, their nose smashing against the rugged divide between the boot and the backseat.
Blood began to flow down their face, thick in their throat. With their position, they couldn’t do anything but try to spit it out and not choke to death on the metallic taste.
The bastard was doing it on purpose. They fucking knew it.
They hadn’t been gagged nor blindfold, but that didn’t give them any vantage. The trunk was about the same size they were in their awkward position, if not a bit smaller, leaving them to tuck their chin down or pull their legs up. It was too shallow for them to roll over in, and though they were now practically flush against the inside, they could feel the lid of the trunk not two inches from touching their back.
For the first maybe two minutes into the ride, Sidekick had screamed. They knew that no one would be able to hear their cries for help, not on the road from the inside of an insulated car trunk. More so to annoy their kidnapper, which they had counted as a small success when their assailant turned the car’s radio up so loud Sidekick could feel the bass vibrations.
Superhero would be worried. Sidekick had an evening patrol with them tonight, hell, that must have been hours ago, for how long it’d felt they’ve been driving. First, they’d be mad, probably thinking Sidekick had ditched them. Which was a valid assumption, seeing as it wouldn’t have been the first time they had decided some menial task such as paperwork was more important than watching over empty streets. But then they’d check up on Sidekick’s office at the agency, see they weren’t there. Then they’d go to their apartment, after their three texts and a call went unanswered. After that, Sidekick wasn’t sure what they would do, it had never escalated farther than that. Maybe they’d track Sidekick’s phone, or their watch, and find them smashed in some alleyway dumpster.
After that, they’d probably send an alert to all the heroes connected to the agency, just telling them to keep their eyes out. After two days, they’d probably go searching on their own, cornering villains and conducting some informal… questioning.
The car slammed heavily on the breaks, but this time Sidekick was able to duck their head, preventing them from crashing face-first into the interior of the trunk again. They expected it to accelerate again, but instead they heard the car shift into park, suddenly going quiet as the ignition was twisted off and the radio went out.
Sidekick felt a prick of fear twine through their chest, but paired with it was a heavy sense of anger. The fuck did this asshole want with them?
Then fear overtook them again as they heard a door slam shut. Whoever this was, they’d attacked them from behind. Hit them in the back of the head with some sort of hard beam, roughed them up a good deal, before restraining them and dumping them in the trunk. Sidekick hadn’t managed to catch a glimpse of their face.
What if it was a criminal? What if it was Supervillain? Shit, they’d be as good as damn dead. Awful flashes of torture and gore spun through their mind as they heard the muffled crunch of gravel circle around the car. They’d skin them alive, dissect them piece by piece until there was nothing left but a pile of carnage. Supervillain had done worse, Sidekick knew. They’d worked some of their cases.
But when the trunk flipped open, and Sidekick craned back to look over their shoulder, squinting against the light, they realized it wasn’t Supervillain.
One hand resting on the boot’s lid as they leaned over, teeth glinting sharp, the shadows on their face stoic and intense, as Hero grinned down at them.

“Oh no no no no-”
“Sidekick?”
Sidekick pressed their hands on Hero’s gaping wound, hopelessly trying to stop the bleeding.
“Sidekick…”
“Yes Hero?”
“Can you just… just say it’s going to be okay.”
“But-”
“Just say it. Please.”
Sidekick stared at them for a moment then managed to smile through the tears. “It’s going to be okay, Hero.”
Hero smiled back. They knew what Sidekick said was true. Even when they were gone they knew it would all be okay.

Hey Jealousy
“What, are you jealous?” Sidekick scoffed as they listened to Hero complain about how Villain was too busy to fight these days because of their new partner.
Hero paused their pacing. “You know what, maybe I am. And I know just the remedy!” They sprinted from the room.
“Hero, wait! What’s the remedy? You can’t just go find a partner like that!” Sidekick chased after Hero hoping that was what Hero had in mind and not other, more sinister thoughts.

Thought #199
Hero and Sidekick snuck through the house until they were standing in front of a sleeping form on the couch.
"This is them?" Sidekick asked looking down at the small form.
Villain snorted and turned to her side mumbling in her sleep.
"It sure is. Do you have the bracelets?" Hero asked kneeling by Villain.
"I just don't understand. How can she be the one behind everything?" Sidekick said pulling out the bracelets slowly.
"Don't judge her based on her size. She's evil and we have to stop her from using her powers."
Hero slowly pulled Villain's hand from her stomach up and slowly clipped the bracelet around her wrist.
"Is she really that dangerous?" Sidekick asked.
Villain's eyes snapped open. "Yes I am." She sat up and glared at Hero. "What are you doing here?"
Hero stood. "I'm here to stop you."
She slowly stood looking at her wrist. "I applaud your idea. Unfortunately you didn't quite do it."
Hero pushed Sidekick towards the door. "At least I got one on. Now you should only be able to use half your powers."
Sidekick backed up.
Villain laughed. "Half is enough to take you down."

Random prompt #63
"Oh my stars." Sidekick pressed a hand to their mouth in an attempt to stifle their laughter as they watched the scene between their boss and their new enemy. Hero was average height, yes. They weren't exactly tall and they weren't exactly short, completely content with their height. But Villain towered over them - so much so that they practically had to crouch to see eye-to-eye with the hero without them looking down or the other tilting their chin all the way up. The two stared at each other for a moment before a snickering sound escaped Villain's mouth, a grin tugging at their lips. Hero took immediate offense to this and tried to puff themselves up, moving to stand on their tippy toes, only to make their new nemesis laugh harder. Sidekick shook their head, moving to sit on the pavement. It was going to be a long week.

Double-Date: Spiderman Edition (Part 1)
NOT A PR0MPT
Prequel here
can you do one where a hero and villain’s sidekick are secretly dating, and villain and hero’s sidekick are secretly dating, and they all run into each other while on a date and they all have a spider-man pointing meme moment
This request brought me life. I don’t think I’ve ever written both sidekicks, and I don’t know how to handle it, so we’re gonna say VSidekick for Villain’s sidekick and HSidekick for Hero’s! If anyone has a better method for this, please share 👉🏼👈🏼
******
Now was the moment. The double pearlescent doors stood in front of Hero and her date. They would push them open, and every table would be filled except one- the table they had reserved. Normal citizens would have filled the rest of the seats, and Hero and VSidekick could have a glorious meal. No Villain involved.
The two walked in, and upon being greeted, VSidekick explained that the two of them had a reservation for 7 o’clock.
“Can I get a name for your reservation?” the hostess asked with a trained smile.
Hero spoke up, then, using her civilian name, and soon after, they were seated. Deciding her anxiety might very well ruin this sweet date, she neglected the empty table across from her, not caring what group or couple might sit down. She was sat now, with a glass of chardonnay, and a plate of pesto and cheese ravioli on the way.
VSidekick, on the other hand, had a glass of merlot. He would eat a ribeye with a side of roasted vegetables and grilled asparagus. Letting Hero loosen up for once meant he’d only partake in one glass, and drown it out with water before leaving.
But, letting her loosen up also meant loud, spilled laughter that would block any recognition she might have formerly had.
“Hey- uh...hey, Hero?”
She giggled. “Yeah?”
“Isn’t that...I’m pretty sure that’s HSidekick over there.” He pointed, and kept pointing, and kept pointing, encouraging Hero to look and confirm. “You don’t think the table behind us is hers, do you?”
“HSidekick? Pffffft...she only comes here with me. Unless”- she slurred this last word- “she got like a date or something.”
“Would you just look over there, please? What is she going to do if she sees us together, Hero? You can’t just get another sidekick.”
This time, she did look, but not easily. Looking at the hostess’ stand felt like looking through shaky binoculars that weren’t quite focused. But...it was enough that she rose a shaky finger. “Doesn’t that look like Villain, m’too? Or have I juzt had too much wine?” She gave a lopsided grin and almost started chuckling aloud again. Hero felt silly, and like nothing mattered except this little date.
“No. No, I think that is Villain.”
***
“Oh, Villain, look! Our table is right over th- oh my gosh.”
Villain hummed, clearly about to ask the hostess to seat them, but listened to his partner instead. His eyebrow arched as he followed the direct line of HSidekick’s finger.
“It’s Hero.” She whisper-yelled. “You said she wouldn’t be here!” She didn’t blame Villain, truly, but she was shocked. What were they supposed to do now? They couldn’t sit across from Hero! And...and was that- Villain’s own hand filled HSidekick’s vision.
“She’s on a date with my sidekick?”
***
Before any of them knew it, the restaurant had gone silent, and all eyes were on the four dimwits pointing at one another in disbelief.
