Hit me with more of Roy conned Jamie into being nice and City is mad about it. I remember the concept and am face pressed against glass!
The basics of the original concept from @jamiesfootball are that Roy accidentally puts Jamie on a niceness points system so they can be friends, wherein Jamie gets to be a dick once for every four times he does something nice, with plenty of shenanigans along the way and everything is fun and hilarious until Jamie gets sent back to City which is when I get to make it sad and dramatic (ie, Jamie spends his nice points on his teammates/Pep/everyone else at City, and his dick points on Sr with the predicted results)
Jamie is an asshole at Richmond, in a way which is pretty well on par with the people around him, except that the narrative frames them well and Jamie poorly. Isaac and Colin do the brunt of the on-screen bullying but we're supposed to blame Jamie because he laughs at it. Roy humiliates Jamie by framing his embarassment as the funniest thing Roy has ever seen except that it's okay because Jamie is an asshole. Ted yells at Jamie for being hurt and unable to train, which is cool because Jamie is "obviously" faking an injury to get back at Ted for benching him.
Basically everything and everyone kind of sucked.
Take him out of that and put him in a functional dressing room with a good coach and lower pressure overall, and I don't think Jamie would behave that way. I don't think he ever behaved that way at City.
So Jamie goes back to City, a place where he never was much of a prick to begin with (except to the opposition team, because that is part of the sport), and has a casual identity crisis in the back of every shot.
He is touch-starved, being very very good, and blatantly and obviously anxiety-ridden, and all of this in ways which he hadn't been the year before.
Someone: *gets tackled kind of rough by someone on the other team*
Jamie: Pep put me on put me on I will break his ankles and restore our honour
Pep: ... no... ... Jamie are you doing okay?
Jamie: Yes Pep all is well and good, I am just using a nice point.
Pep: I'm going to think about what that means some other time.
Jamie on the inside: oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck
Meanwhile, Jamie is gradually racking up bruises, injuries, and sore spots because he is constantly pushing Sr's buttons so he can pretend that he's still 20% an asshole, and City desperately want to know what Richmond did to their previously nice, normal teammate for him to come back as this clicker-trained attack chihuahua.
(sidenote, I headcanon Jamie as struggling with statistics and numbers games. That he doesn't play FIFA because he worries about how wanting to maximize his ingame stats could negatively affect how he plays in real life. That the only person he's willing to take statistics from are the tactical scouts (a position at a club where you study the upcoming opponent to learn their strategies and tendencies to better prepare the players to face them) because he doesn't want to wind up maximizing his pass completion percentage by no longer taking good risks on through balls or crosses. He's a numbers guy in a way which is sometimes a problem, and is definitely a problem here.)
(a different sidenote, Roy's poor opinion of Jamie was probably a torpedo to his self-confidence. He probably always struggled with both, in some part due to Sr's abuse, but he worshipped Roy. And Roy hated him.)
Hence: an intervention.
Someone, either the captain group (football teams will have ~4 captains with an internal hierarchy, since there has to be a captain on the pitch but no one can actually play every minute of a season) or Pep, sits Jamie down for a chat about how concerned they all are about him and Jamie what is a nice point, what is a prick point, Jamie you were already nice. We already liked you. But right now you're scaring us. You're hurt. Jamie who are you using your prick points on. Jamie? Jamie?

As promised to @maidofdarkness23, here is the first of several breakdowns on the villains of Skulduggery Pleasant.
The Villains of Skulduggery Pleasant
We start at the beginning, in Phase 1, Book 1 (which doesnt have a subname as far as I know, its only titled Skulduggery Pleasant).
Ready?
Nefarian Serpine
Certified best villain ever (I am not biased).
Alright, so first of all:
We are talking about Book 1, the beginning of the series and a book that (in comparison to all the others) is still working with a world that hasnt been established, ideas that arent entirely fixed yet and vibes that are still a little different.
Nefarian Serpine - for all his flaws - embodies this hard. He is almost larger than life in the first book, a reputation that he doesnt really hold in his other Leibnitz dimension appearances. In comparison to every other villain of the week, he lives in an ellaborate, gothic castle filled with hollow papermen and everytime the castle is described, the accompanying thunder and dark clouds are implied.
He never has much screentime, but Dereks perspective style writing lends him just enough depth that his cartoonishness turns sinister and plotting. His interactions with Bliss showcase a man that is deeply aware of his wrongdoings and yet consistently smiles into the face of distrust and hatred. This man knows how to play the game. He is too sure of himself, which makes reading about his movements and actions so full of dread. The question is not only "What has he done in his past?" but the much worse question of "What is he actually doing right now?"
How far will he go, surrounded in his castle by papermen, alone, twirling a wine glass.
In essence, Serpine is a silly villain, so cladden in clichés and stereotype that he is almost larger than the sum of his parts. His shadow is bigger than his body.
The first book establishes that he alone is the reason for Skulduggery Pleasants misery, loss of wife and child, as well as skin and body. A traumatic position that (afaik) no other villain even so much as came close to. The stakes are - of course - world saving level, but they also hold a personal pain that very few following villains in Phase 1 come close to.
In terms of atrocities commited against Skulduggery, hes probably second to none. Even China just followed his lead and never actually plotted or - worse - put them into motion.
The interest in most other villains comes down to
A) saving the world.
B) some kind of moral or ethical conundrum about the world of sorcerers.
But very rarely
C) literally facing the root of your trauma (for Skulduggery) or establishing a root (for Valkyrie).
(Quick Sidenote: Serpines death signifies both Skulduggeries "closure" with his old self and Valkyries acceptance of her new self. Once again, Serpine is not only a foil but also a catalyst).
It is also a great setup to reveal Skulduggerys less heroic sides: His wrath and his care for Valkyrie and Valkyrie alone. The two things that would, throughout the whole series, stay consistent.
Serpine is foil to Skulduggery in even more ways than that, revealing that the same cocksureness and self importance is an incredibly annoying feat in literally anyone else. Going up against Skulduggery must be infuriating, because going up against Serpine definitely is.
And hes also funny.
Have I mentioned how fucking funny Serpine is? Wanting to turn Skulduggery into a piano, absolutely able to hold his wit against the onslaught of insults and quibs exchanged.
Its also important to distinguish this Serpine from the Leibnitz Serpine. His Leibnitz equivalent foils a Skulduggery and Valkyrie that are much further along on their way to madness - he acts just enough like his original (after all, its only been like, what... Six? Seven? books?) but there are still some differences. I'll get to that. Someday.
Back to OG Serpine.
What do we have so far?
Serpine is an almost cartoonish assortment of tropes (the hand, the castle, the general vibe) but somehow, it works. Hes just a little "more" than his tropes, alluding to a three dimensionality he doesnt actually posess, but we have enough to believe it to be there.
He is clearly a product of the series not being established, which explains his constant later downplays (him being the weakest between Vengous, Vile and Serpine for example is only established long after Vengous and Serpine are dead).
He is the most personal villain that the Duo - and especially Skulduggery - face and its hilarious, that its literally the first book.
He is in so many ways exactly like Skulduggery. Full of himself, magically skilled beyond sense, insane (Im looking at you, Faceless Ones Dimension), obsessed with his own aesthatics, also literally a former Mevolent Higherup/Endboss/what do you even call that, witty, sarcastic, smart and able to plot etc. Etc.
He is both the door finally closing for Skulduggery and the door being blasted open for Valkyrie.
We'll come back to him, dont worry. His weirdass villain castle is used by Scarab and Billy-Ray in another book and he plays a passive role even after his death (like the opinions of the Dead Men, China Sorrows trauma, etc.) and even an active role as his Leibnitz replacement.
Solid 10/10 villain.

Hello! I found you in the TCOAAL tag, hope it doesn't bother you lol, I just enjoyed reading your opinions on this game.
Since I saw you questioning Andrew in the Decay route, I wanted to offer you my two cents about it, and why Andrew is so snappy at Ashley there: you can enter the Decay route in two ways, if either of the siblings fails to commit to the other and don't break away from their unhealthy coping mechanism.
If Ashley refuses to let Andrew watch over their parents, she is giving in to her own paranoia and mistrust. Her controlling tendencies towards Andrew stem from her fear that he doesn't really love her (because she is fundamentally impossible to love, that's what everyone told her), and if he has a choice he'll always pick the other choice. No matter how much Andrew commits to her, she is always scared - this is what causes the big fight in the room 302. So her solution is to simply cut out the other choice. She let Nina die, she harassed Julia into breaking up with Andrew, and now, she won't let him talk with their parents. This is the same "Leyley orders Andy around" dynamic that Andrew wants to desperately break free of, and the very reason he despises the nickname Andy - which Ashley keeps using in this route to exercise control: "I love you, Andy. I love you, I love you, I love you". If you choose this option, Ashley ruins their relationship further by caving in to her insecurity, the fear that Andrew would lie to her, abandon her for anyone, and that he really gives her nothing (read: not the all-encompassing love she craves, since she's "no pretty lady he can fuck"... also, sidenote, Ashley's obsession with sex and what it says about her selfworth is fascinating). Of course Andrew would be mad that no matter what he does, it's never enough for his sister, and she will always try every dirty trick in the book to keep him under her thumb.
If Ashley trusts Andrew with the parents, but Andrew accepts their offer to leave Ashley behind and live a normal life, Andrew sinks once again into denial. He is a normal person, really! He could live a normal life! But he is stuck with Ashley. It's all Ashley's fault for pushing him around. It's all Ashley's fault for ruining his life. Andrew is her doormat, and nothing more. Like this, Andrew builds up resentment and resentment, choosing to put all the blame on Ashley's shoulders instead of admitting to himself, like he does if he refuses, that he's just as fucked up as Ashley is. Case in point: in the Decay route he's disgusted when chopping up his parents, a normal reaction which makes Ashley smile, while in the Burial route he's completely detatched, which worries Ashley because this isn't the weak Andy she knows and loves.
So it's not that Andrew in the Decay route is OOC, I think. You, player, simply choose to exarcerbate the issues between the two siblings, whose relationship was already strained by that point, mostly by Ashley still calling Andrew "Andy" which symbolizes her not wanting to move on from the relationship they had as children. The Burial route allows them to say "fuck it, it's us against the world" in their own way: Ashley by accepting that she can slightly let go the leash she put on Andrew because he's her ally, and Andrew by stopping pretending he's just a victim of circumstances.

I had my concerns about the route splitting, but I am curious to see how the different routes ultimately play out. Especially because, to be honest, I don't know what the best path forward for these two is.
The part of me that is playing as them, empathizing, thinks they should just embrace their degeneracy and enjoy burning in Hell together - a la Burial - and the part of me that is watching and judging thinks they deserve to drag each other to the grave for all the awful sins they have committed - a la Decay.
Sans the "less incestous" Burial route. That one seems passable.

shadow gets launched towards earth in the pod gun manage to find him Gerald realizes maria's dead and he goes mad and alters shadows memory to weaponize his greif to make him want to destroy all humans and then shadow is locked up in guns basement and gerald is killed
so its over now?
okay sure if you want me to do an essay of sa2 + shadow the hedgehog (the game) i can do that but its 3 am so ask me later
(also i think black doom is the only sonic character i think you would ever care about since he could easily be drawn in your artstyle)

Really informative 10/10 would read again. Also I just know that Maria suffers from terminal forehead disease (it aint hidden well). But at least Eggman doesn't have to worry about his mother cheating I mean the resemblence is uncanny.

Episode 18 - The Pyrofuego
All analysis and plot leaves my body as I look at angry Kerubim and think that he should yell more, because it makes him look cute.
If Keke buying all of this stuff and giving money for it makes you angry, I hope it cheers you up to know that by Dofus MMO times he has resorted to, instead, hiring adventurers to beat the shit out of anyone who sells magical items made by the Mad Xelor(s).
Food sidenote: they're buying the same stuff as in the Ye'Ch'Ti episode. I love you consistency, and I love you, ways to preserve the animation budget.
Maybe the Mad Xelor is using xelor magic to live for a very long time. Maybe it is a different Mad Xelor, who has a lot of Xelor buddies. Maybe being The Mad Xelor is a title. Or maybe the Mad Xelor of Aux Tresors was so cunty that his batshit insane death machines are still being sold centuries later.
Either way, I find it very funny that shitty counterfeit is, perhaps, Kerubim's longest standing enemy.

I usually bully Keke about literally everything and anything. This time I will bully not only him.
Bashi hates him for some insane reasons. Keke is stupid when it comes to emotions, yeah, and consoling Bashi in the "aww it gets better" style despite Bashi's lovelife consistently going to shit was bad. But Kerubim rescuing the one woman, who was with Bashi against her will, and Bashi considering it a real relationship that Keke broke up, is a yet another "Bashi being fucking INSANE" moment, — and, very importantly, none of these make Kerubim look like a bad person, in any way shape or form.
Which leads us to the next point: What did Kerubim expect from Bashi, here? The Bashi who has a history of irrational hatred for him. Also violence. Did he expect a "Thank you bestieeee, dully noted!"?
Keke is way too optimistic for his own good, to have thought that Bashi would ever listen, and genuinely, I think the best course of action would have been to steal it, instead of saying anything.
Anyway, I started this part of the post with the intent to say that Kerubim gives people too many benefits of the doubt, and ended up coming to the conclusion that Bashi is a misogynist and also stupid instead. I'm sorry followers.
Also, feminism.
If I speak up on my thoughts on Kerubim growling, I will go to jail.
And this insane fucking behaviour is why Kerubim should have fucked around instead of finding out immediately.
I'm sorry for constantly siding with Keke in this episode, but he is SO, so right. I'm sorry queen for ever calling you a bad father.
I wish I knew enough about the games to know if these are real items from them.
For all my research, I am just not that good at MMOs, and some things may elude me.

She can see Rocket darting from camera to camera, catwalk to catwalk: legs a blur, tail flicking for balance or streaming behind him. She rises from her crouch and drifts toward the screens, chest hollow, wanting to be as close as possible to what she’s seeing. She traces a shaky, nervous finger over the edge of one screen.
“I can’t believe he gets so mad at me for going off on my own,�� she tells Yondu, “and then pulls shit like this–”
“I’m not gettin’ in the middle of that,” Yondu interrupts her, and whistles again. Every time Rocket disappears from frame, Jolie catches her breath. This time, when he reappears, Yondu’s arrow is hovering over his shoulder, and that makes her breath a bit easier.
He exits one screen, and then launches into view on another – the catwalk that Taserface is stalking down.

The Evil Skeets plot is great. According to the omnibus it was a very late change away from a generic broken-time story, and I can kinda see that with how some of the earlier evil Skeets behavior doesn't seem super purposeful, but it all works for me.

Mostly spaceguy plot that I don't care much about. The fight's cool at least.
I have no idea what fan speculation was like at the time but the idea of Supernova Jason Todd conspiracy theories is extremely funny so I support the intentional red herrings here.

I keep changing my mind on which storylines I like more as I go. How could I not love Natasha?

Dr. Magnus is back! I wish him being bipolar was handled more sensitively, the whole "oh the medicine keeps me from going ~crazy~" thing is :/, but I'm willing to read it charitably as his own perspective because I like him. He's a psychotic DC character who's heroic and not spooky or magical, just a guy who really doesn't want to have another depersonalization episode and has some internalized sanism about it, it could be so much worse.

I like that Vic's more jaded to the horrors he can't stop than Renee is. He's had a lot of time to get used to the idea he can't save everyone - back in his own book he would've thrown himself in harm's way just like she wants to, but he's gotten better at not starting fights he can't win.
Hate to give Geoff Johns credit for anything but "What the hell are you doing?" "Seeing if it's contagious." is really good.

I'm very into how Evil Skeets is drawn. He manages to be expressive despite having no moving features, it's a good trick.

Almost all of his dialogue is straight from the O'Neil run. Rucka describes rereading the entire run just to write this issue because he had to get this right, and it shows.

It's such a fun mystery. I can confirm it works if you know nothing about comics and are just along for the ride, and it comes together so well on the reread.

I binged watched part 2 of The Glory and I have THOUGHTS and OPINIONS but overall liked part 2 a ton, really need Song Hye-kyo and Jung Sung Il to be in another drama where they get to fuck nasty tho saw someone say a spy thing and now all I can think about is a Korean remake of Mr and Mrs Smith staring them
anyway thoughts and opinions, obviously spoilers and some unpopular opinions to boot:
so like, off the bat I am firmly neutral on the JYJ and MDE romance. Sorry y’all. I thought some of their romantic moments were just out of place tonally in the show - the fondue scene especially with the standard kdrama romance music playing, the running hug scene, both come to mind - I wished the show leaned into the dark romance aspects more. Like, my issue with JYJ is he’s way way way more interesting when he’s unhinged and covered in blood. But the show seemed determined to make him a “green flag” which is a term I’m growing increasingly eye-rolly with in fandom which made him way more boring and also inconsistent.
I was actually salty he didn’t get to stab anyone! Why tease me with a murder knife drawer and not do anything with it??? His best moment was when he put PYJ under and was so wonderfully creepy and intimidating. That was peak. That was his best moment for me in part 2 and the rest was kinda...meh? I didn’t want him to be cutely romantic I wanted him to be secretly unhinged!! Him being a ~green flag~ was meh his other best moment of the show was his monologue to his father’s murderer. Literally one of the best moments of the show and 100% his best moment as a character. I wanted more of THAT and less of him simping after MDE tbh.
That said, I’m not like against their romance or anything it’s just firmly - fine. It’s fine.
I’m also very meh/eye-rolling over the concept of a woman being a man’s savior and salvation. I find that trope really boring tbh
It was nice to see MDE have a partner in crime, and I did like the tent scene with them. I think if there’s fic written if it’s fluff squeecore fic I’ll pass but I’d love a take on them that embraced the darker aspects of YJY’s character. Like dude was an obsessed stalker - which is another reason this green flag thing is weird to me - after spending like what 3 months with MDE if she didn’t like him and also wasn’t a bit unhinged herself he’d be a horror movie char lol like he moved entire ass cities to be closer to her without telling her and lied to her about knowing So-Hee’s mom all in a longcon effort to get closer to her like embrace the unhinged!

We didn’t get much of HDY and MDE this part but know what, I really liked how subtle their relationship was tbh like HDY taking off his shoes before entering her home was a peak moment for me. It’s subtle, but it was a bit of kindness that was so often and so thoroughly denied MDE repeatedly. And obviously that meant a lot to her b/c she was willing to drop her whole ass extended revenge plot and give PYJ a chance to turn herself in. I liked that he didn’t immediately divorce PYJ too b/c it gave him all the opportunity to slowly and symmetrically tear her apart emotionally.
Like, PYJ realized she actually loved this man, so knowing that MDE got into his head and heart - I loved that he basically admitted yeah he had an emotional affair with her - was clearly so damaging for her ego. And that’s what PYJ cares about most, her ego, her image, her self-preservation. And I loved how HDY tore that down every chance he got. He knows about her affair, he knows HYS true parentage, he knows all her little secrets and when she tries to defend herself he gives her rope to hang herself with it. And she does b/c of course she does!! Oh it was great.
It shows that PYJ’s idea of love is possession. She’s mad HDY cheated on her, without considering her years long affair with JJJ. She loves her daughter, but not enough to take TWO, TWO different chances to actually protect her daughter (sidenote loved that both MDE and HDY gave PYJ two different chances to take responsibility for her action and make amends and both times she spat in their faces) and she denied them.
Also what the heck is up with the fact that Mr “Who Should I Kill For You First” didn’t kill a single bitch but HDY killed one of the MAIN bitches??? Like, I loved it but what the heck??? That said would’ve really liked a follow up or sideways scene where MDE gave HDY the info on JJJ and that she knew~ he killed JJJ. I think they should’ve had a final scene together like that b/c it didn’t make much sense to me how JJJ got out of that car accident and ended up at that construction site where HDY followed and killed him after. Plus it didn’t make sense to me that MDE wouldn’t have kept tabs on JJJ and would have left his fate ambiguous like that. He was the one most loyal to PYJ and probably the only person who wouldn’t abandon her in the long run so like, that felt like a weird missing piece to the ending.
I’m glad PYJ didn’t die tho, I’m kinda meh on main villains always dying tbh sometimes it really works - like JJJ’s death - but other times it feels like an easy out for them. I’m glad she’s in prison suffering especially not knowing one of the people she killed she actually didn’t. Knowledge that MDE can hold over her forever. I loved that I loved that was PYJ’s endgame.
All that said, I wish the show incorporated more of the publics viewing of PYJ in her downfall. I think The Devil Judge and Hellbound did this way better with how social media and the news really influence the public perception. We got that one news conference and that was it but like I wanted more. I wanted to see more of the public takedown of the crew and have all the victims smiling as they listen to the gossip and chatter around them.
Everyone’s fates were pretty dope though. KHN was a highlight, so glad her husband is dead, she didn’t forgive his ass in the end, and she’s happier now. She’s one of the best characters of the show, the way she flourished and grew - that SLAP she gave PYJ like no one topped that - was just amazing to see. HDY and his adorable daughter going to UK was so earned (made no sense but earned), the crew’s different deaths like loved that for all of them hahahah suffer. Glad MDE found happiness and fulfilment at the end with YJY.
My last and only quibble with the finale was two things: 1) I wanted a follow up scene with Soo-Hee’s mom and MDE I think this was a hugely missed opportunity tbh like for MDE to tell SH’s mom we got them all not just PYJ but all of them went down you’re daughter can rest now. I was really disappointed we didn’t get this. 2) I really disliked how the last 20/30mins was dedicated to like a long set-up of a potential s2 about YJY’s revenge. Idk this was MDE’s story and it felt like the ending stopped being about her and became about an ad to watch a potential s2. It dragged on and on and I felt there were other things we could’ve explored instead to really wrap MDE’s story up completely.
Overall, hands down one of the best kdramas I’ve watched and a high fave.

Best Year Of My Life [PERSONAL THOUGHTS]

From the moment the teaser came out I was so excited to hear a song mentioning divorced parents (hey, we children of divorce get happy with any rep).
I was not expecting this song to be so much more to me, personally. I know y'all don't know who I am, but I still wanted to write down what these lyrics reminded me of (under the cut)

So, this part reminds me of two things from my childhood: riding my bicycle down and uphill all the time and visiting the ocean a lot during the summer (I love the ocean so much and its smell and beauty). Both of these happened mostly because of my grandparents. I used to spend every two Saturdays the day at my grandparents' because, after the divorce, I had a single mom for a while and that was her "rest day" (I would only spend a whole day with her every two Sundays ^^')

I never had to pick a side because my parents divorced when I was too young to remember... However, the second line in particular hits like a truck. I heard my whole life "who do you like the most? This question always struck me as weird: why the fuck do you care?
What even is the point of "picking a side"? I'm a child of both of them and I love them both (sidenote: try to not cry on the train challenge. Yes I'm writing this on a train)

2023 might not have been the best year of my life, but this song hits too close to home, and right now it's my favorite Ale song.
I hope she knows that this song is amazing and it makes me feel like a little girl again just enjoying my life with no worries. I just want to dance to this song. I just feel so happy and proud of my progress with it.

I can’t believe this series has beaten me down so hard with its bare fists that I feel like 80% of the world dying is not the worst outcome. That is OBJECTIVELY AWFUL. I guess it helps that there’s no death/fighting scenes for last third of this episode. It’s just been so unbearable that if I’m not crying or actively nauseous, it’s some kind of victory. What a horrible show
Are we suggesting Eren has been reincarnated as a bird? Sure, fitting for a wings-of-freedom Scout metaphor moment, I suppose!

THIS IS A LONG ONE SORRY. I guess I had violence in my heart.
1. The character everyone gets wrong
Ok im aware this is like the most predictable answer for me but its true. CLARA!!! People don't get her at all and it absolutely infuriates me, because she's pretty much the only companion in nuwho who is hated to this extent (ie, people saying mean shit about her on my posts ABOUT HER) Oh does she annoy you by having the exact same traits as the doctor? Do you not like her egotistical and controlling behavior? I wonder why. Perhaps there is a point there.
Sidenote - it annoys me when people will call her a mary sue and simultaneously get mad at her being an asshole and yk, having character flaws, as if those terms aren't mutually exclusive & her hyper-competence that gets read as "mary sue" isn't an intentional choice by the narrative and a result of her being DEEPLY unwell in other aspects of her life.
I feel like a lot of people judge her based on the second half of s7 which, to be fair, is awful and I don't think they knew what they were doing with her yet. But in the context of her whole run she is genuinely one of the most evocative characters to come out of doctor who for me, especially in the way she serves as a kind of commentary and subversion of companions as a whole. I genuinely could talk about clara forever but yeah I do feel like a lot of the hate comes from the fact that people Don't Get Her.
And then among fans who do there's always a risk that they see her as this blank slate twee girl to self-project onto which again, to be fair, is how she was written in season 7. But so many things from supposed fans of her as well that I'll read and be like she would not fucking say that. she does not have the emotional awareness to say that. and/or she is not like a uwu quirky shy girl she would fucking speak her mind about that. She is deranged and I love her. I have to shut up abt clara or this will be the whole post.
10. Worst part of fanon
I honestly cant get TOO annoyed with doctor who fanon because i am a comics fan AND a danny phantom fan and its surprisingly common practice for people in both those fandoms to be a "fan" of something they have not consumed the media for in any form, resulting in this horrible mess of fanon with no connection to what makes the original compelling. + doctor who is such a mess of canon anyway basically everything has been canon at some point even if its shit.
But I think in the end the worst part of DW fanon is, like all fanon, the flattening of really compelling characters to fit trope archetypes. I see this especially with tenrose, where they're just turned into this kind of generic ship that you can plug n play into any situation with little connection to the interesting ways they actually behave in canon.
As a kind of interesting reversal, though, fanon will often expand out dw's most generic characters (ie most chibnal companions. sorry), but only for the purposes of shipping and not in ways I myself find particularly interesting. Like imo Yaz is probably the least developed chibnal companion but pretty much the only one I see expanded on in this way because of the shipping potential.

ok for context: I’m making an in-depth danger days lore slideshow because...why not? this means that I’ve been rereading the comics, and I need somewhere to talk about the mad gear and missile kid, so now yall have to hear about it.
so for those who don’t know, the mad gear and missile kid is an EP that MCR released after (i think it was after) the Danger Days album, its basically what the Fab Four are listening to in the Trans AM when they are driving in the music videos (if you havent listened to it, go do that now its very good). but the reason im losing my mind is the info about the actual guy Mad Gear.
Apparently, mad gear is technically the only band member in the canon comics. its explained in the short story Dead Satellites (oh spoiler warning!) that mad gear had a "weird caffeine-induced vision of him and a sentient weapon dancing onstage.” so thats missile kid. the vision weapon ig? mad gear thinks that his music will essentially shake the sky enough to drop the weapon down from the heavens, which mad gear can then use to fuck up BL/ind. sidenote: at the end of that short comic, two killjoys find a crater with a figure at the bottom after a mad gear concert. they assume it was a BL/ind surveillance system, realize oh shit BLi is gonna try and get it back, and end up dying. i kinda hope that was an allusion that missile kid actually exists and mad gear might eventually find them (whatever they are), but thats just me thinking.
tbh, this is mostly be info-dumping about neat lore but its also kind of a wild bit of info so if you’ve read this far, now you’ve got a fun fact from a very sleep deprived guy!

time for my nightly p5 thoughts that I've been rotating in my head all day dump so i don't lie awake for longer thinking about them. anyway one of the things i Don't really ever like abt playing localized or translated games is that im never sure if some things actually mean something or the original writers just thought it would be baller. like what's the fucking deal with igor do we ever get like.. narrative about that or is it just a painted over game mechanic. also crucially was the name choice of igor (weird and creepy mad scientist stock character)(now that im saying this out loud.that has to be intentional if they're taking fun classical cuts like carmen & leblanc). intentional. is this an actual gun will it fire. etc. what's the fucking deal with the fucking... violent execution thing?????? im chill with the rest of the idea of the velvet room (sidenote EASILY the most unsettling name ever) but i keep expecting some kind of undertale love shit coming irt to the 'room where you go to behead or kill or electrocute incarnations of facets of yourself to gain power'. straight up villain shit. to be fair im not very far in. so. shrug. but i AM on edge every time. anyway what the fuck is up with that!

Little Transformers MTMTE update - once again I have picked a fave that can be summed up with "Aw Little Guy!!! Oh He's A Little Bit Fucked Up Actually"... in the sense that I want to hold him tightly and bite at anyone who isn't being kind to him.
I knew something was up when Swerve answered the question of "Are you happy?" literally with "Everyone assumes that if you make jokes, you're happy. Why? Why is that?" ... 👀
Not to mention the ongoing issue of him being convinced no one in the crew likes him & only visits him because he runs the bar on the ship...
And then issue #42 just happened and I am feeling gutted for this man. Turns out that months ago he got injured & infected with a very harmful disease, but considered the pain he felt just part of his chronic pain. He walked around like that for months until he collapsed in his quarters, too weak to get up but still feeling responsible for his bar, so he projected a healthy hologram to work for MONTHS until the crew found him by ACCIDENT.
Don't get me started how during the very painful time he hyperfocused so hard on his special interest - Earth & Humans - for two weeks non-stop that he basically watched & listened to any piece of media humans had made until that point ... and when he collapsed (after apparent self-harm too), his spark/soul started creating a "happy place" hologram world away from everyone else, which was a copy of Earth.
The crew got him out of that, assured that they all ARE his friends & now put him in recovery from the disease he got- but MAN. I am holding Swerve tightly. He turned out to be very much the kinda character where I'd go "You're my friend now! We're having soft tacos later!!"~
Sidenote: It was fucking heartbreaking that the guy also tried to call out for help towards the reader in his own way bc he got got by two of the local mad scientist's inventions and is somewhat aware of existence as a comic book character. It was written in a way where he could tell that the reader was there but couldn't see or hear them, imagining the worst responses to his jokes & situation.
I love this comic so damn much, especially when it grabs me by the heart like this.

2/2 Brians mom/sister scene is now up ‘OH FUCK YOU BITCH! Sidenote: he looks really fucking good. His life might be falling a part but he still looks good. Respect. Oh no, his stupid mom. Oh fuck you too. What kind of family is this? This is horrible, no wonder he is fucked up on drugs and alcohol and fucking everyon- actually nevermind that last one could just be a preference, fuck, this man would’ve died in 2020 lockdown. Wait, I’m getting distracted. Oh no this is hurting me. *pauses tv* DID YOU SEE THAT HESITATION! You could tell he was about to tell her off but he had to fully push himself to say fuck you to her because he’s still just a little kid inside. I will start a riot for him. And him only. Oh and my boy Elliot. This guy did not have to act this much in this scene because this all HURT’ (i have no clue who Elliot is btw when i asked he just went ‘oh you know *smacked his fist to his chest* my boy’) ‘SEE TED AND BRIAN HAVE POTENTIAL! Oh teddy, he is in love how do you not know!’ He is now sitting with crossed fingers and looking up in the ceiling ‘please no Ethan, please no Ethan. OH MY GOD! OH MY! Ha, a friend of his uncles..good one Justin, don’t you mean the love of his life? DID THE KID JUST SAY THE F BOMB AGAIN?! PUNCH HIM JUSTIN. HE WOULDVE PAYED HIM! SEE! EVEN NOW HE KNOWS THAT BRIAN IS THE BEST. *pauses tv again* JUSTIN WENT TO GET THE KID TO ADMIT HES LYING?! How are you gonna do that and then look me in the face and say you don’t care for him? HOW DARE HE WEAR HIS BRACELET! Justin, BEAT HIS ASS! It is your time to start throwing punches!’ ‘JUSTIN! CARL! DEBBIE!!! HE SAW THE BRACELET AND IMMEDIATELY WENT TO CARL!!! Of course Justin would know it has Brian’s initials and where he bought it! Totally normal. EXACTLY DEBBIE SHAME ON THEM! Now say that to his mom next! Aw he gave Justin the bracelet, i have never in my life cared this much about a bracelet’ ‘oh for fucks sake they’re actually gonna have a kid together? SPERM BANK! The kid can always find out who the dad is later in life. This is a recipe for disaster’ ‘HE IS SHOOTING UP! WHY WOULD YOU REMIND HIM OF THE EXISTENCE OF THE ONE PERSON NOBODY WANTS TO BE REMINDED OF?! Even Justin looked disappointed at the reminder! This is pure bullsh- did he just toss the bracelet? *rewinds* HE DID! LOOK *rewinds it again while point at the tv* so hold the fuck up. You’re telling me, he stood there and let Justin tie a bracelet on his wrist only for him to take it off and toss it the second Blondie left and i’m supposed to pretend that the reason for that is not just so that he could feel his Blondies touch? Just so that he could have him for one more second? BUT WHY TAKE IT OFF? Is he mad that he reminded him of *makes a face like he just smelled rotten eggs* him? Or is he just not feeling it right now?’ Now usually he would go outside after an episode but he is on a time crunch so he immediately went to ep 5. He has physical therapy today and I’m honestly scared that it was a bad idea to watch this before he went.
He’s still just a little kid inside. I will start a riot for him. I am sobbing right now, he totally gets Brian.
I have never in my life cared this much about a bracelet. LOL so true.
