Simple Curse to Spot Who Means You Harm
Inspired by and incorporates an old Irish curse
"May those who love us, love us, And those who don't, May [God] turn their hearts And if not their hearts, may [he] turn their ankles so we'll know them by their limping"
Inventory: - salt - lemon juice - black pepper - red pepper - 2 paper - red marker - black string - tinted, dark bottle - sigil form of the curse
Tumblr media
To Do:
Draw curse sigil on paper with red marker. Recite curse throughout spell, inserting the name of your own god if wanted. Fold sigil up tight as it will go, then unfold once into a bowl/crevice shape. Place paper into a bowl of salt. Sprinkle black and red pepper into paper. Burn sigil paper down to ash, still reciting curse. Once paper is burned, pour salt and every single piece of the paper into bottle. Prepare second piece of paper by lightly soaking in lemon juice until slightly moldable. Form paper into a cap for the bottle and tie down paper with string. Place in a hidden, dark place in a room that people pass through often. Turn in a counterclockwise circle once a week.
Cleanse your work area thoroughly after you’ve hidden the bottle.

Hit up the B&N hardback sale for a few books to get in my study rotation for next year, going off of reviews on Goodreads seemed to keep me informed enough. I was gifted Neil Gaimen's Norse Mythology, a book called Weed Witch, and a book of Celtic Myths, but was able to pick up another book I was really interested in!
Tumblr media
I got a variety but this one has such a fantastic vibe and wonderful reviews! I feel nostalgic for the height of Witchblr when sigils were everywhere, and as a Genderqueer person, whether intentional or not, I love that the cover is my pride flag lol

A sigil for use in offering, for those who prefer physical counterparts to energetic gifts.
Sigil Method: Personal System (Yet Unnamed), psychological based process
Meaning: Gratitude, to offer gratitude of unequal proportion
Best Color(s): Yellow, Orange, Red, Black
Best Use: Setting sigil onto physical object (painting, etching, drawing, embroidery, etc.), sanctify/dedicate object, and fill with energetic offering as if into a vessel.
Not Suggested: Use in food if to be consumed by anyone but to whom the offering is given.
Best Disposal: If applicable, in accordance to personal practices regarding offerings. Ex: Mine calls for burning or keeping the object as a dedicated altar piece.
(This post assumes the practitioner understands and is adept at energy work and energy work in regards to physical objects.)

I need help from my practicing pagans/witches.
I want to learn about sigils and symbols, but I have no idea what is and isn't credible because before now, all of my craft has been taught by an existing practitioner, and she does not use sigils at all.
Could anyone recommend me some credible books about sigils? Preferrably, not angelic, which is all google gave me.

Coin's Sigil Crafting Method
So first things first idk that I'm the first person to use this method but I haven't seen anyone else do it so I figured I'd post it since I found it fun to use.
Tumblr media
This method is based on a few forms of creating sigils, drawing inspo from magic squares (specifically the Lo Shu square), planetary squares, and a chart based on an alphanumerical system of the English language. However, they tend to negate the “0” in these charts but I quite like the number “0” so I wanted to add it in. I made this chart for it:
Tumblr media
I also decided that I didn’t want it to be on a magic square, not only because my numbers wouldn’t fit neatly in one but because I am not a square kinda guy, I love a round shape. What clicked to me was a pentagram (pentacle in this case), so after trial and error I made this graph:
Tumblr media
Why a pentagram? Because pentagrams are an ancient symbol that has been used across different cultures for various reasons. Plus it's a staple symbol in the occult and magical community. It’s also said that the pentagram exhibits the Golden Ratio which probably explains why it's pleasing to look at, so that's neat. Moving on!
Using the common method of writing out a phrase, removing multiples, then turning the letters into numbers, removing those multiples, and finally ending up with a string of numbers, I can craft a sigil. For example:
Tumblr media
Also we aren't gunna talk about my shitty handwriting!!!
You can add planetary symbols, alchemical symbols, or other things like runes in the center of the sigil (where the blank part of the pentagram is) if it fits your practice.
Feel free to use this method if it strikes your fancy or let me know if you have any tips on how you would innovate this method!
Here's the digital sigil for those who want it:

Paper Bead Magic
So a week or so ago I got the idea of making paper beads and hiding sigils inside them. I figured I could combine sigil and knot magic to accomplish various things.
Tumblr media
Listen, I'm not a photographer, and I'm using a free phone that came with a prepaid plan, which really doesn't help.
It's easy enough to find tutorials online for paper beads, so I'm not going to make one, though I will put some tips I figured out under the cut at the end. I thought I'd mostly talk a bit about how you might use them.
This craft was largely inspired by the various uses of the many different types of prayer beads (I believe this is the umbrella term, but correct me if I'm wrong), but there are plenty of other things you could do with them.
Make them with sigils that correspond to your purpose and string them together with related knot spells, then:
hang the beads around your door(s), or wear them for protection
incorporate them into a pre-bed meditative ritual, then hang them over your bed before you go to sleep to help with lucid dreaming, remembering dreams, spirit communication, etc.
use them for trance work (repetition can be a great way to achieve a trance state)
make devotional jewelry for whatever deities you work with
use them like worry beads, for relaxation or to ease the urge to do addictive behaviors
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Things I learned through trial and error:
To get nice round beads I found that I needed pretty thick paper (I ended up painting bristol board with watercolors and metallic paint)
If you do use something as thick as bristol board, you will end up with white edges showing (assuming the paper is white), so consider painting them if that bothers you
Tutorials I read suggested sealing them with mod podge or similar glue. I ended up using glazing medium for extra shine, and because I already had some
This took much, MUCH longer than estimated in the tutorials -- be patient!
