I am trying to make my gf this ring out of resin for our anniversary bc she offhandedly mentioned one time that she would love to have it and I am completely winging it so I have no idea how it’s gonna turn out and I am very afraid that it might be garbage but I am also vibrating with excitement over the Potential

#the vibrantion might be a bit of hypomania from the weather being so unexpectedly nice tbh lol #currently casting silicon molds for the ring (base carved from wax) and the petals (base made with sculpey) #decided it would be too hard to cast it all together so I’m doing individual petals which I’ll then glue together #I hope it works out !!!!! #wish I didn’t have to wait 5 hrs for the silicon to set

Hobby journal : I spent the last few days trying to recast some minis! Nothing fancy. I used some two part silicon that I bought ages ago. The notice said it cured in 10 minutes et whoaa that was fast ! I originally made a whole mould (the dwarf holding the cannon ball) and a two part mould (the other one). Unfortunately there was some cracks (the "whole mould", and also the front of the other one). It still gave some good results! I'm in awe of how well the details held !

It kinda turns out this whole thing won't be necessary, but it's the kind of things I love to work with. The "try stuff to see", the "fuck around and find out" :D

This is Kaien, my rescue HuskyMal<3 he has been the most tolerant and loving boy! As you can see I've used him in many of my photos (even the ones with me in them...yep old school tripod and RUN AND POSE) and he's been great to use in period photo shoots as "a wolf"(lol he's too small) anyhow, I've turned on Tips as I've fallen on hard times financially with a big "separation", losing my job and then moving states. Nearly Christmas few companies are looking to hire. and yesterday we had a HUGE Vet bill as the poor guy is sick Pancreatitis they think A vet bill that would set me back with a job a month. I put it on the Credit card but... trying to do what I can while still job hunting. Yep looking for money but in return if you send a tip, send a question. about Silicone casting, trapunto stitch, airbrushing, fiberglass, armoring, Kimono's, dyeing... and I'll post information on the techniques. I'm also a photographer of 30 years so questions to those are also open. I haven't used this myself yet, but I've just placed an order for both the mold-making medium and the skin SFX version, and will report back with a review once I've had a chance to play with it. I love working with silicone, but I am all in favor of more eco-friendly options, so hopefully this will work well!

I need to get a filament 3D printer already. cause like I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be using an SLA print in an application that will spin real goddamn fast.

Currently grappling with the fact that the art piece im working on sounds incredibly boring and bad when im trying to explain it to people. But its actually interesting and good you'd just have to actually see it for it to work. The moment i mention that it involves making ads i can feel people shutting their brain off. I promise im not in marketing i just love the bad dumb visual language of commercial photography and using it as a grounding point for absurdist humor and body horror.

Our casting workshop, "Molds, Resins, and Silicones, Oh My!" will be at @matchboxmakerspace in Lafayette, IN this Wednesday! We'll cover casting materials and techniques, and participants will get to sculpt an original design from clay, make a silicone mold of it, then cast it in resin. Mold and cast are yours to keep!
