#silver leaf nightshade
Note
"it doesn't matter what you say or do, i won't let you be sad alone." Gaara for Ami
A faint smile formed at the familiar scent of blood and sand that filled the air. Ami had disappeared after her grandfather's funeral and few had seen her since, not even the Sand Siblings. So it wasn't a surprise when the redhead suddenly appeared behind her. She turned to face him, her weariness more visible now than it had been in public. "Gaara-san. I- thank-you."

It is believed that this name originates from the fact that it was a signal for hunters to prepare for the upcoming cold winter by going hunting. This is because animals were beginning to fatten up in preparation for the winter season. Moreover, since fields had recently been cleared out under the Harvest Moon, hunters could easily spot deer and other animals that had come out to search for remaining scraps. Additionally, foxes and wolves would also come out to prey on these animals.
The earliest use of the term “Hunter’s Moon,” cited in the Oxford English Dictionary, is from 1710. Some sources suggest that other names for the Hunter’s Moon are the Sanguine or Blood Moon, either associated with the blood from hunting or the color of the changing autumn leaves.

Related festivals:
• Day of the Dead- (Spanish: Día de Muertos or Día de los Muertos) is a holiday traditionally celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, though other days, such as October 31 or November 6, may be included depending on the locality. It is widely observed in Mexico, where it largely developed & is also observed in other places, especially by people of Mexican heritage. Although related to the simultaneous Christian remembrances for Hallowtide, it has a much less solemn tone and is portrayed as a holiday of joyful celebration rather than mourning. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pay respects and to remember friends and family members who have died. These celebrations can take a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny events and anecdotes about the departed.
• All Saints Day- is a Christian solemnity celebrated in honor of all the saints & martyrs of the Church, whether they are known or unknown

•Go on a nature walk
• Learn a new form of divination
• Have a bonfire with your friends and/or family

• Visit a cemetery & help clean off areas that need it or to visit a family member/ ancestor & leave an offering

• Refresh your protection magicks, sigils & rituals
Samhain is a Gaelic festival on 1 November marking the end of the harvest season and beginning of winter or "darker half" of the year. Celebrations begin on the evening of 31 October, since the Celtic day began and ended at sunset.
This fire festival is celebrated on October 31st & is considered the Pagan New Year. It is the first Sabbat on the Wheel of the Year, a cross-quarter festival & the third (final) harvest festival of the mundane year. This is the time when the veil between the worlds of the living & those who have passed is the thinnest, which allows greater communication between the two
Some believe this is the time of the Goddess's mourning of the death of the God until his rebirth at Yule. The Goddess's sadness can be seen in the shortening, darkening days & the arrival of cold weather

Since everyone has shown a bit of interest in Raevar Ancunín, HERE WE GO! LETS GET TO IT!
@strawberryspacewitch @spacebarbarianweird
Raevar Ancunín
- Originally born 3 years post Netherbrain fight
- Ya know how everyone gives Astarion a mini me daughter? Yeah, he’s got a mini clone of Tavara but with a twist! Raevar has Astarion’s eyes from before he was turned, so seeing Raevar open his eyes for the first time gave Astarion back a bit of an idea of what he could’ve looked like pre-vampirism.
- The responsible child, always following his mama around trying to imitate her. Tavara heals people through medicine and the spores whereas Raevar heals through song and music, using it to soothe the soul and mind.
- His mama’s boy nature doesn’t mean he doesn’t love Astarion, no no no! He absolutely adores his papa, his favorite time of day being before everyone wakes up so he can cuddle both his parents in the morning!
- Just like his mother and other dragon elves Raevar is bonded to another wyvern, from infancy onwards both him and Nightshade are inseparable. A dark grey and silver she-wyvern with blue eyes and wing membranes that fade from black to a teal tinted nightshade purple, she’s much longer than Daella when it comes to neck and tail length which makes her a terrifyingly serpent like wyvern with a lot of attitude.
- Fun fact, Raevar is named for a deceased younger brother of Tavara’s named Aevar. The reason to name him such is due to his birthday landing on Aevar’s death anniversary… Everyone saw it as a message from Aevar that everything would be okay, bringing about the eldest of Raevar’s generation in the Feiratheon family and thus a new leaf.
- Absolute baby.
- Like, he will cry if you look at him wrong. If his mom or dad doesn’t put the fear of God into you for making him cry, then Nightshade will.
- Born premature and weak after 2 days, so no one knew if he’d truly make it through the night. He only started to show signs of improving and becoming healthier after being bonded to Nightshade, who hatched the day he was born and thus their bond.
- Don’t tell anyone but Astarion cries. A lot. He wishes he was able to remember his own childhood, to call upon the memories of whoever his parents were in order to learn from them
- Extremely fussy baby who could only be soothed by being in a sling across Tavara’s chest or Astarion’s chest
- Has 4 younger siblings, 3 sisters and one brother!
- The twin girls, Vaelmera and Nymara (green eyes, light olive skin, white hair)
- Vhaerune (white hair and skin with brown eyes)
- Astraela (black hair brown eyes light olive skin, resembles her maternal grandmother and uncle)

A note about from my garden: All were picked fresh before doing the spell, Did not have any dandelion flowers or seed. I added one blackberry. The only one that was fully ripe, lol. The huckleberry is from the nightshade type of huckleberry. Do not know if that changes things. I have two pecan saplings so I took a leaf from both. Rose, I only took leaves, do not have many flowers so I didn't want to take them. A note toward ingredients. I mixed and matched and found ones I had access to. Please be open to changing up and making your own.

The Familiar       Part 1
Tumblr media
art by @mrstarksbaby
Maybe you wouldn’t consider buying a Haunted House a good form of “Couple’s Therapy.”  But  you would be wrong.
At least, in this case.
Tony was the high-powered CEO of a large company growing larger.  Peter was his unlikely partner, intern-turned-lover-turned housemate.  Boytoy, if you will.  Looking slightly unorthodox at company picnics, but Unorthodox was Tony’s middle name.
There are a million reasons why a May/December relationship might fail.  Tony and Peter had successfully woven a spiderweb that had held them together… so far.  But as the years progressed, and the newness of the relationship wore off, they found themselves on worrisome ground.  Real life began creeping in on them, in that annoying way Real Life can do.  Stress from the outside world began making itself known at home.  The insecure, possessive side began to emerge - and not from one man.  From both.  Arguments, accusations, hurt feelings became more frequent.  Enough to become worrisome.
Both consulted their tarot decks.  The results could not have been more clear.
The eight of wands.  The nine of cups.  The Knight of coins.
Time.  Time, of course, was always the problem.  They needed time to take care of themselves.  They needed time to take care of each other.
So… naturally… Tony bought them a haunted house.
What better place to go?  To practice some self-care?  To practice some mindfulness?  To practice their witchcraft?
----------------------------------------------------
Tony had been practicing the craft since he was 20 years old.  “If I keep practicing, I might get it right,” he would always muse.  Peter grew up in a world where books on the craft were just as easy to access as books on Yoga, and had been dabbling since the tender age of 14.  It was one of the first things they had found they had in common, and they had formed a cozy 2-man coven even before they had become lovers.  So when Tony surprised Peter with their getaway destination - a reportedly haunted house that they now owned, Peter couldn’t have been happier.
The house was almost too beautiful to be believed.  It had been a bed and breakfast, an absolute thing of beauty, but had fallen into disrepair after the owners had abandoned it.
It was, after all, Haunted.
The first few days of their two-man retreat passed like a dream.  Every morning Peter consulted his tarot deck for the day’s itinerary.  Days were spent in meditation, or conversation, or just culinary experiments in the kitchen.  The isolation was wonderful.  They made love during the day… on the back porch, on blankets in the woods.  Autumn was coming.  The trees were just on the verge of turning.  There was magic in the air.
Inside the quaint bed and breakfast had been a beautiful wall full of unusual shelves and dusty apothecary jars, causing Tony to reminisce.  He  had once been a passable herbalist, until the herbs moved further into the illegal side which had developed into a substance abuse problem.  But that was decades behind him.  Now he took Peter into the wooded areas on their new property to show Peter what he knew.  They gathered wild yarrow and mugwort and thistle and chicory and periwinkle.  Lemon balm for happiness.  Cattail fuzz for passion.  Hemlock and foxglove and silver-leaf nightshade.  (No reason for those at all.  But oh, the labels on the jars did look so cool.  Peter declared it “Goth as fuck.”)
And they talked.  And then they talked.  And they both agreed their tarot decks had been right this time.  Running off together to be alone in the woods had been all they ever needed.  They both agreed this would be their Autumn home.  Every year, they would spend September and October here.  No interruptions.  No business.  No obligations.  Nothing to do but pay attention to themselves and to each other.  This was a witches’ paradise.
It was heaven, being together.  Being all alone.
Of course… they weren’t all alone…

All around the Demon Ship, not a creature was stirring... though a few sneaky gifts were left around for the Sins to find: A beautiful parcel lined with gold leaf with a spring-loaded Cake inside as well as a book of obscure five-star recipes, A Keg with an orange wax seal on the side that actually opens up a false compartment with a few 'lost' books on ancient mysticism, a red-handled Falchion with a trigger that splits the blade into segments on a retracting chain, a Purpleheart-wood quarterstaff that twists into three chained segments, a silver Necklace with jade and emerald insets that has a compartment hiding a vial of nightshade extract, a hardback Book bound in teal detailing advanced medical techniques and medical herbology with a slide-out catalog of dried medicinal herbs, a Regal magenta Dress-Coat with gold and silver accents with hidden pockets with knife holders and fireproofing on the liner, and amidst all this the proud Ship herself found herself covered from bow to stern with nearly a ton of Tinsel... and a few too many coats of wax on the decks.
The Seven open their gifts!
Tumblr media
Rashid is grinning from ear to ear, not just impressed by the gift, but by the design of the keg and the books on ancient mysticism he'd most surely appreciate. "My, my! Our friendly spirit knows exactly what sort of things we like beyond just our choice of drink! I never thought I'd get my own copies of the works of Hishām ibn al-Kalbī! This is highly valuable!"
Tumblr media
"I've heard of chain swords, and I've even seen a couple previous thralls of the Master from the South China Seas wield them--but I've never seen anything like this. It actually makes me think of Giovanni's tie bian if it loosened and had sharper edges."
Tumblr media
"Those would be the jiǔjiébiān (九節鞭) or qījiébiān (七節鞭) depending on if it has nine or seven sections! Look at me! I got the měihuābiān (梅花鞭), also known as the sānjiébiān (三節鞭): the plum flower!"
Tumblr media
"Well, well, well. This person knows how I live by. *Sniff!* Nightshade. Perfect for subterfuge. I think it goes well with my jade beads very well.~"
Tumblr media
"I can't believe they included this catalog of herbs! They know I am trying to learn medicine and I grow my own plants! Maybe I can become a legitimate doctor!"
Tumblr media
"Granted you put in the effort."
Tumblr media
"Shut the fuck up, Guy. At least my gift is unique to me and yours is..... one in a hundred."
Tumblr media
"Hey, look! It has additional pockets for knives! I don't fence with my justacourps on, but if I was caught in a situation while all dressed up, I at least have this! I can perhaps carry more daggers than just the main-gauche!"
Tumblr media
*GRRRRRROOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAN*
Tumblr media
"Yes, yes, we know, Demonia, the wax and tinsel is really too much for you. It kind of hurts my eyes."
Tumblr media
"Wait a minute, what did Giovan-"

I took these while I was recovering from nearly croaking of congestive heart failure.  I’d just lost 72 lbs, and with our old Panasonic video camera, using it as a Macro lens to take what I called “wildflower portrait” still shots, I began taking slow meanderings around our little three acre patch.  I put the twelve best into a calendar.  Sold exactly zero.  lulz.  Oh, well...I think they’re purdy. Enjoy ;-)
These first two are Baby Blue Eyes

For: Gaara :: @nightshade-stories Muse: Ami Firesword Verse: Raised in the village she calls home | Suna genin au
"Go careful up there, kiddo."
"I will oji-san."
Each evening, they had the same conversation before the younger of the two headed up to the rooftops. A routine born from countless hours of late nights, little sleep and love. From chakra fluctuations to the restlessness of the dragon she held. It was one of the few constants in her life , much like her grandfather and all of the Sand Siblings were.
Ami slipped out onto the roof of the Tsuya family house and went to her usual place when she wanted to be alone. From here, she could easily see over most of Suna despite night settling in fast. But very few would actually be able to find her, unless they knew where to look. Not that anyone but the bravest would go looking for her of course.
She pulled out a blanket and a book out from a hidey hole on the roof, before setting the blanket out. Normally it was Gaara who avoided her on the full moon because of Shukaku. Although in the past week, it had been her avoiding everyone for reasons only known to her grandfather and the Kazekage.
All because of a single letter, which had managed to completely upend her entire world in just a few sentences. The young redhead was the only one she hadn't managed to avoid completely, due to him knowing most of her hiding places. Except for this one. At least for now anyway.
A soft sigh broke the silent air, before she let the book pull her to another place. Unaware that it would soon be broken and her peace destroyed.
