((the long-awaited continuation of this. Also fits the prompt for @silversickles‘ minifest: pranks.))
“So,” Lily says, casually taking a sip of her drink. “Who did you give your number?”
“What-,” Remus sputters, “How did you know I gave someone my number?”
Lily grins at him. “I didn’t. But also, you’ve been fiddling with your phone for hours now. So, who did you give your number?”
“I didn’t.”
Lily’s grins only becomes wider. “You’ve been here for what, a week? You certainly don’t waste any time.”
“Yes,” Remus says, grasping at straws. “Only a week. Which means you don’t know me well enough to ask this.”
Green eyes stare at him, unwavering, until, once again, Lily laughs at him. “Nice try.”
“Thank you. Anyway, what did you have for Slughorn’s tes-”
“Who is it, Remus?”
A sigh escapes Remus lips. “Okay, so, remember when you told me about the marauders, and that ‘I should just be careful’ even though they are ‘good people’.”
Lily slaps a hand over her mouth, her eyes sparkling. “Tell me you didn’t.”
Defeated, he looks at the floor. “I did. But, in my defense, Sirius Black is hot.”
“James Potter is hot too, and you don’t see me giving him my number, do you?”
Remus simply raises an eyebrow, because while he may know Lily for only a week, it’s already very obvious that Lily wouldn’t pass up on the opportunity to score a date with James Potter (she calls him hot a little too often for him to think otherwise.).
Lily shoves him in response. “Shut up.”
Remus does, and in the silence that follows, he hears the tell-tale ping of a notification. Lily looks at him, wide-eyed. Remus looks back, then picks up the phone.
Unknown number (15:15): Hey Remus, this is Sirius.
Unknown number (15:15): From detention.
“I can’t believe that worked.” Lily says from where she’s breathing over Remus shoulder, “You’re cute, I can see that, but what would you even have done if he wasn’t interested?”
Remus just shrugs, a move that, unfortunately, doesn’t manage to move Lily back to a normal position. “I could always have pretended to be someone else.”
Lily’s eyes start light up. “You should still do that. He deserves it for making you wait so long. Plus, it would be funny.”
He considers it, for a moment, and then before he knows it he has typed something out. Lily presses send before he can delete it.
Remus (15:16): Dear Sirius, unfortunately I do not know this Remus you speak of... Could it be you have the wrong number? Also, I know this is not my place to say, but school is important! You can’t learn while in detention. - Kind regards, Bertha Smith.
“You just did that.” Lily giggles. “You got the tone of an older grandma exactly right, too.”
“Thank you.” Remus says, who is still not sure why he send that, but he has to agree with Lily: it is funny.
Sirius: oh
Sirius: yes, it must’ve been a wrong number
Lily, from her place on Remus shoulder (exactly the place where one of those little cartoon devils would be) pokes him in the shoulder. “I bet he’s really disappointed right now.”
“Yeah, sure.” Remus says, sarcasm dripping off of every syllable.
“Dude, he messaged you, of course he’s disappointed.”
Again, his phone ping’ed.
Sirius: thanks for telling me
Remus: Dear Sirius, of course! Did you get Remus’ number, after all? -Kind regards, Bertha Smith.
“You, Remus Lupin, are cruel.”
Sirius (15:21): I didn’t, but what can you do
“Oh yes, Lily, you were right, the disappointment practically oozes off him.”
Sirius: Did you, by the way, know that in texting you do not have to greet someone or sign off?
Remus: Dear Sirius, you don’t? - Kind regards, Bertha Smith.
“Can’t believe he’s trying to teach this grandma texting etiquette. Maybe I understand what you see in him.”
Sirus: no, because it’s already obvious who is texting whom
“I take it back, did he seriously just use ‘whom’, what a nerd.”
Sirius: you do you though
Remus: Like this?
Sirius: Exactly! :D
“Fuck, fuck, fuck.”
Lily immediately gets off his shoulder to look him in the eye. “What is it?”
“Why the fuck do I think that emoji is this cute? I’m serious, it felt like my heart skipped a beat for a second.”
She rolls her eyes. “You’re fine, just crushing very hard.”
“Those two things can’t possibly co-exist.”
Lily lays a hand on his shoulder. “Look, buddy, this has been very funny, but I think it’s time you stop procrastinating and confess who you are.”
“Fine.”
Remus: Dear Sirius, thanks very much for your help, but I’d like to sign off one last time. -Kind regards, Remus Lupin.
Sirius: WHAT THE-
Sirius: wait you really are Remus and not Bertha, right?
Remus: well, technically I was also Bertha.
Remus: but yes I am Remus
Remus: Hi
Sirius: WHAT THE FUCK
Sirius: I’ll admit you got me good
Remus: thank you
Remus: would you still like to go on a date sometime?
Sirius: yes please
Lily high-fived him.

@silversickles high school/college minifest day 1: back to school
This was based on this art by @gaeilgelupin bc I love her art 💖
“Moony!” Sirius called out as Remus entered the room. Remus waved at him, a happy smile on his face, and went to the front of the class, where Professor McGonagall was waiting with the work he had missed in the past two days.
“It’s good to have you back, Lupin.”
Remus was sure he saw a smile flicker across her face.
He made his way to the back of the classroom, where Sirius and James were moving their things off the desk they had saved for Remus. Almost as soon as Remus sat down, Sirius jumped out of his chair and onto Remus’s back. Remus laughed and patted Sirius’s arms where they were wrapped around his chest.
“Miss me?” he asked.
“Yeah,” Sirius said, and his lips brushed Remus’s neck as he spoke. “Fuck the moon.”
Remus nodded emphatically. “Fuck the moon.” He looked over at James and Peter, who were watching Sirius cling to Remus with barely concealed amusement. “Did I miss anything interesting at the Sorting?”
“Nah,” James said.
“Lily threw a pie in James’s face,” Peter said.
“The usual, then.”
“Pretty much.” Peter dodged the quill James threw at him.
“Mr Black, Mr Lupin, Mr Potter, and Mr Perrigrew, I’m going to have to ask you to pay attention to the lesson.” They all jumped at the sound of McGonagall’s voice from the front of the room, and James and Peter turned to the front. Sirius looked up at McGonagall and gave her his best puppy dog eyes. Remus was still holding his hand, playing idly with his fingers. McGonagall raised an eyebrow, and Sirius sighed and slid back into his own seat. Remus didn’t let go of his hand. McGonagall turned to face the blackboard, hiding a smile.
As soon as her back was turned, Remus reached over and drew a heart on Sirius’s desk. Underneath it, he wrote, I missed you too.

So, this is my participation in @silversickles minifest. Day Five: Libraries. Just a small piece. I hope you like it. ❤️❤️
All the fluff, no warnings.
********************************************
Remus was sitting alone in the library, he had tons of work to do and catch up on, and the last full moon was rough. He had to stay in bed for weeks, before and after. His friends and Sirius had been helpful, with all the homework but he still needed to study. He stayed in the library for hours after hours just drowning in parchments and books. James, Peter, and Sirius check up on him regularly, try to rip him off his seat, but to no luck. He needs to get on top again, and slouching won’t help.
He was halfway through a potions essay when his vision turned black, hands covering his eyes. “Guess who?” A voice, which certainly belonged to Sirius said from behind. It cut off Remus’s train of thoughts and he forgot what he was going to write next. He snapped at the black-haired boy, “Remove your hands Sirius and leave me alone.” His tone was harsher than he intended and he regretted it immediately. Sirius dropped his hands and placed them on his shoulders. “Love, this is bad for you,” He squeezed his shoulders. “Come on, take a break. I got you food. You missed dinner.” Sirius said and slid beside him, pushing his books and papers away, and placing a plate full of food that’s probably been floating above them. Remus looked at the food, it looked tasty. He was hungry, but he was so stressed, he felt nauseous.
“I don’t want to eat, Padfoot.” He sighed, and tried to push the plate away. Sirius put his hand to the other side and kept it still. “Nope. This plate only leaves this table when it’s spotless.” Remus turned to look at his boyfriend who was wearing a stern face, unusual to his signature smirk. “I can’t eat. How did you even sneak food into the library? This is wrong. If we get caught, we’ll be kicked out. Sirius, I really have to be here and I need the books and I can’t handle another delay. I missed dinner for a reason, you didn’t have to be here. And I surely do-“
“Remus, Sto-“
“-don’t want to be distracted. I am wasting time. You’re here and you know I can’t focus and I-” Remus continued his rant.
“Baby, it-”
“I can’t fall behind. I’m not rich and school is everything right now, it’ll break mom’s heart. I’m not here to play around-” It was impressive how he said it all in one breath, and he would have continued if a pair of lips crashing on his own hadn’t shut him up at that moment. Remus, taken by surprise, pulled away only to find himself grabbing Sirius closer by his tie and kissing him more. It’s been a while since he had Sirius this close. It’s been even more than a while since he kissed him. He had been so busy and overwhelmed with everything around him. He missed his boyfriend’s warmth and comfort. Remus melted into the kiss and let out a moan when Sirius bit down his lower lip asking for entrance, it was turning messy. Sirius hand moved to unbutton Remus’s shirt, while the other was around the back of his neck, keeping him steady.
With half of his shirt undone and Sirius’s lips attached to his neck, Remus came back to his senses and gently pushed Sirius off of him. “Library, Sirius. We can’t,” Remus said breathless. Sirius looked back at him, all flushed with red swollen lips from all the kissing. “I missed you,” he said. “I’m sorry, I missed you too. It’s just everything.” Remus said, looking down at his hands on his lap. He felt guilty. He really hasn’t been paying attention to anything or anyone except his studies. Sirius grabbed his face and made him look up to him. “It’s alright, Moons. I know.” He kissed him softly. “I just want to take care of you now, what will all that studying do if you can’t even walk to class without passing out?” Sirius added.
“I guess you’re right,” Remus chuckled. He felt very tired; he doesn’t know how long he’s been in that chair, hunched over what seems like a sea of books. Sirius being there helped relief some of the stress, he wasn’t as agitated as before, thanks to maybe that brief make out session they’ve just had. “Of course, I’m right.” Sirius said arrogantly, grinning. “Now, eat.” He demanded. Remus groaned and rolled his eyes. “No. you don’t get to do that. You’ll eat voluntarily. Or I’ll feed you, Remus.” Sirius spoke sternly.
“Fine, I guess. I’ll eat. The food doesn’t look so bad.” He gave in, and turned in his chair towards the full plate in front of him. “Good boy.” Sirius said, placing a kiss on his cheek. “How did you even bring food here, Sirius?” he questioned again, looking sideways at his boyfriend. “If Madam Pince finds out about this, we’ll-” Sirius cut him off again, “I beg you for one second to stop worrying and just do what I ask.” Sirius sounded annoyed. “Okay, sorry.” Remus said sheepishly. Sirius was right, he worried a lot. At this rate, he’ll be greying before they even graduate.
“Also, never doubt the ways of The Great Sirius Black, love.” Sirius wiggled his eyebrows. Remus laughed, digging in his plate. He was really lucky to have this great person in his life. “Wait.” Sirius said abruptly. He turned again, looking at him. He raised his hands to button Remus’s shirt again. “Can’t be half-naked in the library, right?” He whispered. Remus laughed. “Yeah, we’ll save it for somewhere else.” He said. “Bet.” Sirius winked.

this is for @silversickles‘s wolfstar highscool minifest thing, and the day 1 prompt - back to school. I know it isnt day one anymore, i just found it thoughh, and i really wanted to do this one.
I know it isnt very good, but i really just wnted to write something so i hope you enjoy.
Sirius Black stood on Platform Nine and Three Quarters. Well he had been stood about 10 seconds ago before he had been tackled from the side by a certain James Potter who was at the same time yelling some sort of monologue.
“Padfoot it's great to see you, how's your summer been? We went to Spain it was so hot and i met this really cool girl called Mariana you would have liked her. And Petes been staying with me last week and we met up with Mary and Dorcas and -”
Sirius pushed the excitable lump of a friend off of himself. “Alright mate, calm down.” JAmes grinned sheepishly. “Honestly, you’d never imagine that I was the dog, jesus christ. All this untameable energy.”
Other students were casting sceptical, if slightly amused glances at the two boys who were taking up a considerable amount of space on the platform, what with their half sitting, half lying down and the fact that , with the force of impact, sirius’ bags were strewn around them.
“Seriously though man,” James looked at Sirius with a strangely earnest expression, “I missed you.”
“Bloody hell Jamie, no need to get sappy. It's only the summer holiday.” Sirius grinned and reached out his fist, and the two boys performed the handshake they had developed over their five years at Hogwarts.
“Need a hand you two, or are you happy sitting down there like a pair of bloody idiots?” A mysterious voice from behind Sirius took him by surprise. A squeaky giggle told him that Peter was there as well.
“Remus!” James was yelling again (of course). “Jesus you've gotten tall.” Sirius quickly got to his feet at the sound of Remus’ name and turned around to find himself face to face with the man himself. Well, he said face to face, it was more like face to (broad…) shoulder. Sirius slowly looked up to Remus’ face, scowling slightly about now being the shortest in the group by a long way, like how was that fair and- well, fuck. Remus had, there was no delicate way of putting this, gotten hot.
As much as Sirius wished he couldn't see it, there was no denying it. Every one of Remus’ features seemed to have been amplified, and they all balanced each other as though something had happened and a puzzle piece had been put into place to make him look less boyish and more like a man, who Sirisus was very much attracted to. Not that Remus hadn’t been pretty attractive already, as Sirius knew from personal experience was not the case, but now there was just something else.
It was hard to say which specific thing was the cause. Was it the fact that Remus was freckled across the cheeks and nose from a holiday somewhere sunny, or the fact his jaw seemed squarer. Maybe it was due to the fact his golden brown hair, bleached from the sun, had grown longer so it was hanging in his face, or the fact that he didn't seem to have tired rings around his amber eyes, as was usual. Perhaps it was simply the fact that due to his height, Remus was standing with more confidence, and seemed genuinely happy. Whatever it was, it was making Sirius more than a little flustered.
“Hello.” Remus was looking bemusedly down at Sirius, who was liking being short less and less every minute, and who was looking determinedly away from Remus’ eyes. He did not want to be falling even more in love with his best friend for fucks sake. It’d been awkward enough last year, and that had barely been the tip of the iceberg of what he was feeling now.
“Umm, hi.”
“Good summer?” Remus was still not looking away, so Sirius slowly met his gaze, heart pumping way faster than it should've been.
“Nah it was crap as usual but you know the most ancient and noble house of Black. You can't do bloody anything.”  Remus’ brow crinkled in concern.
“Are you alright?...No - don't answer that, i know you aren't. Come here.”
Sirius let himself be pulled into a hug and closed his eyes. Breathing in the familiar scent of Remus’ cozy jumpers and the chocolate he always seemed to have on him, Sirius started to forget about his summer. But, as he pulled away from the hug, and looked back at the gorgeous being that was Remus Lupin, he was beginning to realise that the school year might be just as difficult, but in a very different way.

Here is my contribution to @silversickles ‘s wolfstar highscool/college minifest:
Day Two (29/10): Detention
It isn’t my best work, it was very rushed I’m sorry.
Happy six months my love!
**
At exactly 8:00 pm on the 2nd of September 1974, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin could be found standing (somewhat sulkily) outside of the office of one Professor McGonagall. Last few chimed of the clock tower reverberated through the halls of the castle, the door to the room was flung open. The boys, who had replicated this procedure so many times that they may as well have PHDs in it, walked forwards and sat in their usual seats. Minerva McGonagall was sitting behind her desk, her quill scratching away on what the boys knew was their instructions for the evening.
Eventually, she put down her quill and surveyed the boys, her hands clasped on the desk in front of her.
“You boys know why you are here. Why you thought it necessary to pull such a juvenile prank on your very first day back is beyond me. I do not doubt, however, that you did not act alone. So, I will give you this one chance to name your accomplices, and I shall reduce your sentence from two weeks of detention to one”. There was a short pause. McGonagall knew her offer was a futile one, but followed the procedure, nonetheless. She had been partaking in this routine with various combinations of the marauders since they were 11 years old, and not once had any of the boys given up one of their friends. Although she would die before admitting it, their loyalty never failed to put her willpower and the corners of her mouth in competition. And so, born from this struggle was the famous “pursing of lips”.
This expression made an appearance now, as she surveyed the boys in front of her. Contrary to popular opinion, Professor McGonagall was not ignorant in the ways of the youth. Therefore, she had far from missed the stolen looks and lingering touches shared by Remus and Sirius. She knew that they were in love, even if they didn’t know it themselves yet. And so, her willpower lost, and she smiled.
“As you may be aware, Professor Slughorn recently retired. Due to Professor Dumbledore’s lack of candidates, I will be temporarily taking on the roll of Potions teacher, on top of my current position in the Transfiguration post. As you can imagine, this is quite a workload for a woman my age. Therefore, you boys will be spending the next 3 hours grading these assignments for me”. She reached under the desk and pulled out a huge crate, filled with papers. Each paper had an accompanying vial of what seemed to be pink liquid.
Sirius spoke for the first time that evening. “3 hours? You know we need to sleep too, Minnie”.
The expression returned. “I will lock the door behind me when I leave. It will open when all of these papers have been completed”. And with that, she stood and left the classroom. In the silence of her wake, a distinct click could be heard, proving that McGonagall was, in fact, not bluffing.
Sirius sighed and turned to his partner in crime. “Well, I guess we’d better get to work. What even is this stuff?” he picked up a vial and uncorked it. “Oooh, it smells amazing! It must be amortentia”.
Suddenly fear-stricken, Remus nodded. “Yeah, I guess. What- ahem”, he cleared his throat. “What do you smell?”
Sirius gave the vial another sniff. “Leather, obviously. And pumpkin. Ad something else… merlin Remus! Your cologne is so strong I can barely smell the potion! How much of that stuff did you put on?”
Remus’ heart stopped.
“I’m… I’m not wearing any cologne, Sirius.”
Remus watched as realization slowly dawned on Sirius. Terror bloomed in his eyes as a dark flush bloomed on his cheeks.
“I – oh”, was all he could manage to say.
Then, Remus made a decision. He strode forwards with purpose and brought a shaking hand to rest on the one holding the bottle. The warmth of Sirius’ skin seeped into his own as he curled his own fingers around the bottle and brought it to his nose.
“Do you want to know what I smell?” Their faces were inches apart now, and Sirius could feel Remus’ words tickling his skin. Feverishly, he nodded.
Remus closed his eyes and recited “Honey. Chocolate. Gingerbread”, he tried to stay focused as he felt Sirius’ hand begin to quiver under his. “Pine trees. Daisies”, and then he opened his eyes and looked directly into Sirius’ and said those last few words. “Whiskey, cigarette smoke, and wet dog”.
There was a split second where the boys just looked at each other, their hands still intertwined and the bottle between them. Then all thoughts of detention were forgotten as lips met lips and heats combined.
They were moving as one, feeling and tasting, kissing. The world fell away as the kiss deepened, all tongue and hot breath. Remus explored Sirius greedily, with his tongue and with his hands. With unexpected force, he pinned Sirius against the wall and locked their lips together again. One hand was in his lover’s hair, and the other was roaming the warm skin under his shirt. Feeling every ridge, every scar. Every heartbeat.
Suddenly, Remus realised what he was doing. He sprung backwards, crossing the room in Olympic time. Looking up, he saw Sirius in front of him. Dazed and flustered, they locked eyes.
“Wh-what’s wrong?” Remus was shocked by the voice. Sirius’ trademark confidence was gone, replaced by a quivering uncertainty. Remus didn’t like that voice. “Was I bad? Was the kiss bad? Or was it a mistake? Oh god, I knew you’d never like me back. Oh, what have I done? I hid my feeling for years because I couldn’t bear to lose your friendship, and now it’s all over because of a stupid potion! Oh Remus, I’m so sor-”.
He was cut off by another pair of lips meeting his. The second kiss was different. It was tender. It said everything that needed to be said and more. It said ‘you’re perfect. The kissing is perfect.’ It said ‘I want this. I want you”. And, most importantly of all, it said the words the boys had been yearning to say to each other for forever. It said, ‘I love you’.

((written for @silversickles minifest! Day two: detention))
There was a desk in the room used for detention that belonged to Sirius. It was in one of the middle rows, because only suck-ups sit in the front and teachers always look in the back, and it was next to the window, so that he could look out over the grounds.
The desk was made from the same old wood as the other ones, and it was just as battered and ugly as the rest of them. The only difference was that this one was filled with scribbles by Sirius’ hand, and a few were courtesy of James, who always sat at the desk next to him.
They both claimed to have drawn the beautiful phoenix in the middle of the desk, but everyone knew it was actually Peter. Slughorn, who ‘supervised’ the detentions most of the time (he always fell asleep at his desk), never noticed.
Everyone knew it was Sirius’ desk, because he’d make it clear every time he had detention (and that was very, very often), and no one would sit there. Except this time, it seems.
Sirius is therefore absolutely stunned for two reasons when he walks into the classroom, 1) because someone is sitting in his seat, and 2) because the boy sitting there is absolutely gorgeous. Sirius doesn’t know him, only knows that he’s a recent transfer student, and the only reason he vaguely remembers that is because of the aforementioned gorgeousness.
The boy’s crooked nose almost touches the paper when he writes, and his lovely honey brown eyes are focused on the ink flowing out of his quill. There’s even a bit of ink in his (soft-looking) curls, which Sirius, unfortunately, thinks is endearing.
It’s truly a shame that he’s in Sirius’ chair.
“You’re in my seat.” Sirius says.
In one slow, smooth motion, the boy looks up from where he’s working, and looks Sirius up and down. Sirius resists both the urge to smile flirtatiously at him, and the one to physically pull him out of the chair. “Who are you?”
“Sirius Black.” He smiles at him. “I’d be more pleased to meet you if you weren’t sitting in my chair.”
The boy huffs incredulously, as if he can’t believe Sirius is making such a big deal out of this, as if he thinks Sirius is being petty. (He has a nice smile.) “Remus Lupin. Also, I don’t believe your name is on it?”
Sirius’ smile widens. “Maybe you should look a little better. If you would just get up...” The boy narrows his eyes at him suspiciously, but he stands up. Still grinning, Sirius takes the chair, and points to the place where it says: Sirius Black.
Remus shakes his head, but the corners of his mouth are curled up so Sirius takes it as a win. “That’s just ridicul--”
Sirius cuts Remus off the moment he takes the now-free chair and turns it around as fast as he can, and then he sits in it, demonstratively. Remus laughs and pushes him to the side, and Sirius ignores the way he’s almost falling off the chair in favour of memorizing the sound.
Of course, this is the moment Slughorn, who had been sleeping peacefully, chooses to wake up. “Black, Lupin, back to your seats, please.” He winks exaggeratedly at Sirius. “Even your famous family can’t help you here.”
Sirius begrudgingly accepts and goes to sit in a different desk, muttering about how he doesnt want his families help. Remus has the nerve to shoot him a triumphant grin, and then he looks shocked that he was in a fight over a chair of all things, and Sirius thinks he’s in love.
He’s sure of that the next time he has detention and sees a phone number crawled under his name, and the words: I hope you won’t make such a fuss about chairs at our date.
((edit: now with a part two!))

@silversickles high school/college minifest day 2: detention
Remus did not want to be here. He did not want to be in detention with Sirius fucking Black, especially when he, Remus Lupin, had done absolutely nothing wrong. His only sin had been that he happened to exist in the same corridor as Black when he and his idiotic friends pulled their prank. Had it been his fault that Black had handed Remus the fireworks and told him to “wait here for a moment”? No! Absolutely not! And had it been Remus’s fault that he had done that instead of dropping the fireworks and getting the fuck out of there? No! Absolutely not! Anyone would have been frozen in place by Black’s brilliant smile and the way his hand had brushed against Remus’s and the smell of his shampoo and the way he leaned in close to whisper in Remus’s ear! Anyone!
“You okay there, mate? Wouldn’t want to hurt yourself scrubbing trophies.”
He glared at Black, who was vaguely wiping down a quidditch trophy with a damp cloth. “I’m doing better then you are.”
“Didn’t know you’d be so pissy about detention.”
“Maybe I have other things I’d rather be doing.”
Black sighed. Neither of them spoke for the rest of the evening.
The next night, Remus’s annoyance had faded, but his pride would not allow him to back down. Black may have been a Gryffindor, but so was Remus, goddammit, and he wouldn’t give Black the satisfaction of winning.
Black arrived a few minutes late, looking ruffled and annoyed.
“Evening, Lupin.”
Remus didn’t reply.
Halfway through the third night of detention, Black said, “You’re hot when you’re mad.”
Remus went beet red and scrubbed the trophy harder.
On the fourth night, Black took the trophy and the cloth out of Remus’s hands.
“What the fuck, Black?”
“You know, I was hoping that us being in detention together might be a good way to casually ask you out.”
Remus just stared at him.
“Was I wrong?” Black was smirking, but Remus could see an undercurrent of nervousness in his eyes. “Because if I was wrong about––about you, and if this is weird, then I’m sorry and I’ll keep doing the detention by myself because this really was my fault entirely––”
“You’re not joking?” Remus asked. “This isn’t some stupid prank that you and your friends are going to laugh about later?”
“No, not at all!” Black said. “I promise! I really do like you, I just never got a chance to talk to you and James said this would be a good idea, and now that I say that out loud I really shouldn’t have trusted him, should I?”
“Probably not,” Remus agreed. “But it does seem to have worked out in your favour anyway.”
Black stared at him, wide-eyed. “Really? You’ll go on a date with me?”
Remus grinned. “Of course I will. As long as you don’t get me in detention again.”
A smile lit up Black’s face. “I can’t make any promises, Lupin.”
“I suppose I’ll just have to live with that.”

So I wrote a fic that was like,,,,,,, just me tryna feel better but then it also became vaguely day 4 of @silversickles high school/college minifest soooo. yeah. the prompt for day 4 was halloween. :)
the doc was called halloween babeyy
“Prongs, why does your pumpkin look like that?”
“You mean, perfect?”
“No, I mean like a toddler took a knife to it.”
“Fuck off, Remus, yours isn’t any better!”
Remus looked from his pumpkin to James’s. “I think I can see some differences.”
“Different does not necessarily mean better, Moons, you should know that by now.”
“I’m gonna need you to fuck right off, mkay?”
James frowned at his pumpkin. As much as he had defended it, he was willing to admit that it needed some work. The nose had gotten a little bit too big and was now sort of merged with the eyes, and the mouth, which was supposed to be full of pointy teeth, looked like an old man’s toothless smile. He looked over at Remus’s pumpkin to compare.
“Why are you putting scars on your pumpkin?”
“So we match. He got them in battle.”
More on ao3!

this is for @silversickles‘ wolfstar minifest, and the day 2 prompt - detention. sorry this got a bit long, haha. hope you like it! Remus couldn't believe he’d gotten a detention. Like come on. He hadn't been doing that much wrong. Well, maybe he had but that wasn't the point. The point was that Severus Snape was for it next time Remu saw him, because boy oh boy was he going to pay. And on top of that, Sirius was gonna be in detention as well. Could it get any worse?
Any worse than what, some people might have been wondering if they had been transported to Remus’ thoughts at that moment. Any worse than being stuck in a room with your crush, who also happens to be your best friend, for an hour and a half, that's what. Any worse than having been avoiding said crush because when you were around him you couldn't actually form coherent sentences.
As it turned out, it could get worse. “Right in here boys, you will be sorting through the files of bad behaviour, something that has to be done at least once every fifteen years.” Filch sneered. “One day, maybe someone will be looking through files about you. Think about how much work you’ve given them, eh.”
A tiny storage cupboard. Of course. Of fucking course. Remus sighed and braced himself for the awkwardness that was sure to come. He was bad enough while he was around people he was just friends with, barely able to hold a conversation without becoming too self conscious, so how was he meant to deal with keeping up a conversation with Sirius fucking Black. Especially in close proximity.
“This is bloody ridiculous.” Sirius was complaining, while loosening his tie in a way that infuriated Remus. Why should he be allowed to do that. Why should Sirius be allowed to unbutton the first three buttons of his shirt. It was bloody unfair, because if remus ever dared try something like that he'd get called a wanker, but of course all the girls were fawning over Sirius. Made the prospects of him liking Remus back even slimmer. Who in their right minds would like him, a bloke, when there were dozens of girls willing to be with them. Nobody was the answer to that question. Absolutely nobody.
Sighing again (a lot of sighing was going to take place this evening, Remus could tell) he pulled open a drawer and started to flick through the many reports of misbehaviour from the past years at Hogwarts. Remus was honestly relieved that Siirus wasn't trying to make small talk, he couldn't deal with that at the moment.
Around fifteen minutes later the two boys were startled by the door to the storage room banging shut and the distinct sound of a key turning in a lock came from outside.
“Hey!” Remus yelled, and peered out the small window at the top of the door, where he could just see Snape's greasy head disappearing around the corner.
“Snape, that fucking asshole.” he growled under his breath. “I’m gonna get him for this jesus christ.”
After a quick try of alohomora, which didn't work, Remus remembered that all rooms with confidential things inside were only unlocked by a specific enchanted key. A key that Snape seemed to have. He swore under his breath.
Sirius was being unusually quiet, and Remus looked round at him. He was shocked to see him curled up against the cabinets, taking quick, uneven breaths.
“Sirius? Are you alright?” Remus could make out Sirius quickly shaking his head in the dim light, and knelt down next to him. Unsure of quite what to do, he rested his hand on the other boy's shoulder.
“You need to take deep breaths, okay? Slowly, with me...” Remus started taking slow, deep breaths, trying to keep calm himself, and act as though there was nothing wrong, or at least, as though he wasn't too worried, so Sirius wasn't worried about him. After a couple of minutes of deep breathing, Sirius seemed to manage to slow his breaths down, but he was still shaking slightly. Remus, who still had his hand placed firmly on the other boy’s shoulder, gave him what he hoped was a soothing rub on said shoulder. Sirius, to his surprise, leaned into his side, so he quickly moved his other arm up, to hug him, and try and stop the trembling.
“I’m so sorry about that, Remus,” Sirius murmured.
“Dont you dare fucking apologise Pads, I just wanna make sure youre okay.” Remus moved his head so he was looking right in Sirius’ shining eyes, which were red from crying. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah… I think so. I mean…shit. It's never been quite as bad before.”Sirius was very quiet, almost mumbling.
“You mean, this has happened before? Siri, you know you can talk to me about anything.” Sirius let out a watery chuckle.
“Your dont wanna listen to this Re, trust me.”
“I do. And i'm not gonna judge you. I just wanna know what's up. It hurts so bad knowing that you're in pain and you aren't telling me. I don't think you quite grasp how much you mean to me Pads. Seriously - do not make the joke - you are the most important person in my life right now, and i can't bear to see you struggling like that. So please just talk to me.” Remus took a deep breath. Had he really just said that stuff out loud to Sirius’ face? If he laughed- oh god, Remus didn't think he would be able to handle that, he’d probably just die of embarrassment on the floor.
“It's just - this reminds me of my mother's punishments.” Sirius was speaking. Quietly, yes, but he was confiding in Remus. “She’s been especially bad this summer. I’ve been trying to take most of the blame, because i can't bear to see Reggie hurt, but the easiest way for her to get to me is just locking me in the wardrobe upstairs. I spent hours in there Re. Sometimes a day or more.” He took a deep shuddering breath, and Remus just pulled him tighter to his side, silently fuming at Walburga Black. “I felt like I couldn't breathe in there. It was pitch black, and of course I couldn't use my wand to make light. I couldn't eat either.
“Then today when snape locked us in (fuck him by the way), it just felt like it was her doing it all over again. Oh jesus bloody christ you dont wanna hear my fucking sob stories, im sorry Re. I just needed to get this off my chest.”
Sirius visibly relaxed against Remus after he'd said all this, who rested his cheek on the shorter boy’s dark hair.
“What did I say before? Dont fucking apologise. You don't deserve any of that stuff. I’m going to kill your mother next time i see her, you're gonna have to keep a firm grip on me.” Sirius laughed at this.
The two boys sat in comfortable silence, taking deep breaths together, still in sync, like two halves of one person, connected in some way. The dark surrounded them, but unlike before, it wasn't tearing at them, or confining them. It was just there, co existing with them.
“Hey Re?”
“Mmhm?”
“You mean a lot to me as well.” Remus’ heart skipped a couple of beats. Sure Sirius probably meant this as in friendship terms, but still…
“Sorry?”
“You said earlier that I mean a lot to you, and i wanted to tell you that you mean a lot to me too.” If this was one of the muggle books Renys had been reading recently, this would be the point where he and Sirius confessed their undying love for each other and made out until the chapter ended. But this wasn't one of those books, this was real life. Sirius had just had some sort of anxiety attack, and they were locked in a storage cupboard for Gods’ sake. Plus, Remus was perfectly content just sitting in the dark, head resting on Sirius’ until someone came and found them.
