fyi, if you originally bought your phone from t-mobile and are now trying to swap over to a different network but it keeps saying "invalid sim card / sim card not supported" and you've exhausted every possible solution, tried literally everything to the point that even customer service is at a loss (restart, clear network data, replace potentially broken sim, airplane mode, etc) and when you ask they say your phone is definitely not network/carrier locked...
i want you to do me a favor: before you drive all the way out to a corporate store for assistance, before you spend hours upon hours on the phone with customer service...
i want you to go through your apps that you never use and look for one with a pink keyhole for an icon; it should be labeled something along the lines of "device unlock".
found it? good. now i want you to click it.
because, apparently, you need to manually unlock it yourself via this one inconspicuous app that you probably never even knew existed.
click "continue" and "permanent unlock" -- the request shouldn't take more than a few minutes to go through and then you'll have to restart your phone, but after that? you should be in the clear.
(all the googling i did and not one site ever mentioned this...)
(i'm still not quite sure why it didn't show up as network locked for customer service, though -- my best guess is that maybe it could only be done manually from the phone itself, thus customer service wouldn't see an option from their end for them to unlock it and so naturally assumed that must've meant that it was already unlocked...maybe? hm.)

Beyond SIM cards and Phones
I woke up this morning after a good night’s sleep wondering why we needed SIMs. Sure, eSIMs are coming out but the whole concept is tied pretty well to what ‘SIM’ stands for: Subscriber Information Module. It’s not really for users, it’s for the company selling a service. As someone who has spent time in telephony, it just seems very strange to me that we’re still dealing with iterations of SIM…

Smart Travel Hack and Underrated NYC Food/Drink Guide
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Traveling to the USA? Don’t want to pay international fees? Have an unlocked Apple iPhone or Samsung Galaxy?
Invest in a T-Mobile Prepaid SIM Card which has Unlimited Talk, Text, and Data in the USA for 30 days. The price is about 50 dollars. The link is in the sources section. Therefore, post that selfie or video chat your family/friends while enjoying a bite to eat/drink in the USA.
New York City is one of the most popular cities to travel within the United States. But there is a saturation of entertainment options and it can be overwhelming. As someone who likes to plan ahead and willing to try anything, please see below for the food/drink items that anyone should experience once in their lifetime. It would satisfy anyone’s palette. Also, it is important to support local and small businesses.
Many of these items are underrated!
Ceviche
This dish is a staple in many cultures and extremely popular. The seafood which can be shrimp or fish is cured in citrus juices like lemon or lime. Therefore, it is safe to eat! Afterwards, it is tossed and spiced with red onions, tomatoes, cilantro, salt/pepper, and red pepper flakes. There are flavors of acidity, salty, and spicy mixed into one.
Tumblr media
Macarons
It is the ultimate French pastry. These cute sized treats are great to eat with afternoon tea. They have a slightly sweet and nutty flavor. Macarons are made from meringue. There are many flavors from lemon, coffee, pistachio, and etc. Laduree makes the best ones and they make great gifts for the holidays. It is worth every penny.
Tumblr media
Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup
The best comfort food on a fall/winter day. The soup is spiced with Chinese five spice and it has the perfect flavor that is not too spicy. The scallions add an allium bite. There are huge pieces of beef that is tender and fall right off the bone.
Tumblr media
Flat White
The best alternative to an Americano that is not too bitter/acidic. There is not too much steamed milk and the flavor is still silky. It is easy to drink and the caffeine count is not too high. But, the coffee art is beautiful.
Tumblr media
Soup Dumplings
They are usually referred to as the little pocket of joy. As the name states, there is soup in the dumpling shell. The flavor is umami and it is important to air out the dumpling before consuming or you will burn your entire mouth! The best added condiments to the dumplings are pickled ginger and black vinegar.
Tumblr media
Pan Fried Seafood Noodles
The crunch of these egg noodles are the best. They are fried and slathered with a seafood stir fry surrounding Chinese Broccoli. The dish is originally from Hong Kong and served in many Cantonese/Chinese gatherings with family and friends.
Tumblr media
Shaved Ice
A hidden secret that is very well liked on the West coast especially Hawaii. The texture is like snow and doused with fruit syrups that have a sweet flavor. The sweetness is not sickly and the fresh fruit is a good addition. My favorite is always mango and strawberry!
Tumblr media
Poke
Another item that is favored on the West Coast and is competitive to sushi. Poke is a type of sashimi dish that is usually made from tuna or salmon. It is usually cured with some soy sauce or shoyu. It can be made for lunch or dinner and be eaten anytime of the year. The best toppings to a Poke bowl consists of seaweed salad, cucumbers, radish, pineapple, roe, and sriracha mayo sauce.

I got a new phone last Christmas, but it's been glitching out all year. In May, the battery fucked up and the screen got stuck on because of an endless loop of notifications that wouldn't go away until I restarted it, and then it would only work when it was plugged in. That problem fixed itself, but a little while later I had my phone plugged in while I was using it and I started hearing a weird repetitive clicking noise; it wasn't a click, it was arcing electricity from the charging port which was starting to smoke and melt. I have no fucking idea what caused that, but I got another endless cycle of notifications saying that moisture was detected in the charging port (even though the phone was dry as a bone). The part of the phone where I rest my pinky is cracked and bubbly and uncomfortable now. And just recently it has stopped recognizing my sim card for no reason. I'll be using my phone with no problem and then it will drop my call and cut off my data connection and say I can only make emergency calls until I have a valid sim. I haven't touched the sim card since I put it in last Christmas, so this is ridiculous! It's just one thing after another...
My next phone is gonna be a dumb phone. Calls and texts, nothing else. No internet. No apps. Just a fucking phone. I need to kick my screen addiction anyway. It'll make me 100 times more productive.

How to Transfer Contacts from Phone to SD Card
One of the most important data on your phone is your contacts. This is where you save your friends, families, or a valuable person’s contact information including their names, email addresses, and phone numbers. There are two common ways of saving your contacts from your phone: either you save them on phone storage or SIM card storage.
But there is another way to save volumes of contacts, you can save them on an SD card. So, if your phone is running out of storage or the SIM card, then an SD card will be your best choice for storing important data including contacts.
Reasons Why Transfer Contacts from Phone to SD card
We all know that our phones and SIM card have limited storage, so what most users do is transfer the contacts from their phone to their SD card because it has a larger storage capacity and volumes of contacts are not a big deal to transfer. Some are transferring contacts to the SD card for backups just in case the phone got busted. If that happens, they can easily transfer the contacts saved from the SD card to another phone.
Solutions to Transfer Contacts
If you are wondering how to transfer contacts from the phone to the SD card, then grab your phone and listen to our discussion as we will tackle the two different methods here.
Solution 1: Contact Application Menu - It is an old-school method. You can transfer the contacts from the contact application “Menu” option. Just click that option and select the Import/Export option then export to the SD card.
Solution 2: Third-party App - One of the most reliable tools for transferring files is a third-party file transfer app. It allows you to transfer any file format including the contacts. Just plug your SD card into a memory card reader then plug your phone into the computer and run the third-party apps to start the transferring process….See more

"Governments May Spy on You by Requesting Push Notifications from Apple and Google"
The relevant components can be removed from Android devices by the end user if they want to, as Android users can remove any software component they want, then choosing to only install apps that use other push-notification mechanisms than through Google's "Firebase Cloud Messaging" such as for example UnifiedPush (@unifiedpush).
Apple users... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
