#simeon and his character arc are SO INTERESTING

Omg hiii I looove oversharing about my blorbos 😋
Anyway Simeon is my favorite guy ever and has been since the beginning I'm completely obsessed with him bc he's literally perfect tell my WHY on gods green earth he's always getting swept under the rug. Why does this man never get any attention and when he does why is he mischaracterized. He's got it all. He's tall and handsome in kind of an ethereal effeminate way, he's sweet and kind but not a pushover, he's one of the most tragic characters in the game, he's the perfect muse for a religious trauma arc, a corruption arc, a "the calm collected one who's always having a good time finally snaps and goes apeshit" arc, I mean come on. Come on. Every time I remember that his main sin is wrath despite him being SO chill and gentle on the outside I want to giggle a little bit. My beautiful princess with identity issues and slutty waist I'm so sorry everyone ignores you
Solomon though. I don't remember how I felt about him at first (other than lots of gender envy) but he wasn't a favorite until I came back to the fandom after being absent for ages. Like damn this man is everything. He's so complicated /pos that I cant even articulate why I love him so much but he's so well written (maybe one of the only ones who are written halfway decently) and SO tragic. The way he's so desperately in love with the mc and is forced to watch them go for literally anyone else but would still do anything for them and ask for nothing but a little bit of loyalty in return is scrumptious. Also the way immortality just kinda fucks you up after a while when you're only human. I've been very tempted to put him in a poly ship with my mc and Simeon bc he deserves it but for now he just has to watch from afar as the man he loves endlessly makes out with his best friend that he also kinda sorta has a little crush on bc making the gays suffer brings me copious amounts of joy. He's also the "always totally calm and collected no matter what but actually has really strong feelings that he works to keep in check" type like Simeon and I love that for him. One of the fics I'm reading has him once become so panicked over the MC's wellbeing that he completely loses his composure. Yelling, trembling, the whole nine yards and it was fucking glorious, I love seeing characters like him break.
Also I have to talk a little about Lucifer. He's not generally a favorite but I just think it's funny how I went from hating his guts bc I thought he was an asshole to to liking him a lot bc I have a weak spot for big brother characters. He loves his family so so so much and just has trouble showing it properly!! He's still an asshole and an uptight prick but I like that about him now. My mc had the same development with him as I did, he went from "I hate this motherfucker I wanna kill him also he kinda scares me" to "this is my big brother we are holding hands :)" in the span of like a year and a half and it's really funny. Lucifer thought he was finally getting a sensible housemate and friend but ended up getting another insufferable, headache indicung little brother figure instead. Also I kinda have a non canon ship between him and my MC's father bc the idea is SO funny but also a little cute bc they compliment each other real well. My mc would become homophobic so fast if he found out and thinking about it is incredibly entertaining
thank u for oversharing teehee <333
the side characters are sooo fun and interesting i wish so badly that theyd get to be ever so slightly less on the side :,D
the dynamic between your mc and simeon and solomon PAIN UGH i love it.. <333 my heart hurts for solo but the yearning.... MMM
and absolutely felt about lucifer, i wish i could hate him and leave it at that but he makes it so hard. i have such a complicated relationship with this man but i cant bring myself to genuinely hate him hahaha

The Ancient Magus' Bride Season 2 Episode 15: Needs Must When The Devil Drives I.
Tumblr media
Perhaps a slower episode than usual in the front half, this one dives head first into our two caregiver pairings of Elias-Chise, and Alcyone-Philomela. It's really great to see how they approach each and how they interact with one another, so I have a lot to talk about.
Let's start off with Elias! I love his character progression in this episode once more. Just the subtle things like how he says to "reach out to him if anything happens". While he does justify it by the fact that humans are frail to him, the sentiment of Elias attempting to care about another person is absolutely there.
Even better is Simeon's comment about music. Elias shows interest in it, and then extrapolates it to relate it to Chise, and not in just a simple manner. It has him pondering the question "what does Chise like? What was she like before me?". It's an outstanding development for two reasons.
Firstly, it shows Elias' ability to look inwards in retrospect and apply the ideas that other people supply him with to other friends or people close to him. Secondly, during that introspection, it's not just "I wonder what kind of music Chise likes", rather, he uses the initial idea to further expand on Chise as a person, rather than something that comes to mind as an association. It's really really great stuff that shows how Elias is growing and developing as a person.
Similarly, but also somehow different, we get Alcyone in this really great sequence.
Tumblr media
I really like the direction through this sequence because it accentuates Alcyone's purpose. Other people do exist, such as Philomela's parents, but all that Alcyone sees is Philomela herself. Is it because of her purpose as an artificial fairy, or is it the beginnings of something greater, similar to Elias? Personally I feel like it's the latter, which I'll explain in just a bit.
First though, this scene of Alcyone looking at Philomela. It's just really pretty, and the depth of field is a nice touch to help viewers understand that Alcyone is only looking at Philomela.
Tumblr media
Anyways, why do I think that Alcyone is more like Elias than unlike? Well, it's Elias himself in their conversation. He himself states that he can't stop answering Alcyone's questions, and I think the reasoning is obvious as we begin a two part parallel. Elias sees a version of himself in Alcyone. I think it's a great idea to explore that comparison, especially because the two are currently isolated from the outside world.
Tumblr media
And then there's the whole Philomela and Chise piece, which was great. Here though, they explicitly state (or I guess show?) that Chise sees herself in Philomela despite their differences, and that a lot of it is about finding a way to save her past self by helping Philomela. It's very interesting, and ties directly into Chise's struggle with selfishness in a way that might not directly present as that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then there's the whole Rian-Isaac breakdown which is really great. We could see glimpses of the tension here and there with Rian interacting with Philomela finally, but the breaking point was really well done. The idea of "two sides of the same coin" comes to mind with the pair, so I'm really excited to see what goes on now that Philomela has been properly added to the mix.
Though I should add, Rian's disposition towards Philomela is very interesting. It's childish, I would say. He's frustrated that the friend he once had is essentially no more, so he takes it out on the version of them that stands in front of him.
Tumblr media
The latter half of this episode just brings a lot in terms of breakdowns as it prepares to build things up alongside the mystery of the book swirling around the college.
While the first half might be a touch dry, the second half is incredibly full and rich, sporting great sunset-dyed visuals and surprisingly solid character animation in some sequences.
The book might be the focus of this arc right now, but I'm nearly exclusively focused on the characters because they're just so damn well written.

Hi, It’s the middle of the night and I can’t sleep so imma just ramble for a sec, k. (May get angsty, spoilers? Murder?)
So I was thinkin about the first season of Obey me (basically after the mc goes home the first time) and it’s kind of messy. Like when the you think about the mc’s time at RAD and HOL it’s kind of fucked right? Mc gets snatched from wherever their from to do what this Demon prince wants and they have absolutely no say in the matter.
Mc doesn’t get to choose what they eat, how or where they sleep, and it’s too dangerous to really hang out anywhere. The only beings around them kinda loathe the mc for a good chunk of their stay. The other human, and the two angels are kind of separated from ‘em for most of their time there so mc can’t really be helped. Really, mc can’t even mention being homesick cause their swiftly told “shut up”. Then to top it off, all that effort being put into “saving” the one being that’s meant to be a friend, brutally murders them. Then there’s a scene before where mc has to apologize to the brothers ( that irritates me). After all that Diavolo kinda walks in suckin his own dick on how he figured out the whole Lilith thing and then they skip over the fresh blood on the floor and have tea. In which the brothers are now cuddling the mc?
And, for me, Belphie killing the mc wasn’t the most egregious thing to happen. It’s actually kinda cool. It’s the after, the tea, the fighting over the mc, the mc becoming their therapist/lover. That part sucks. Also that Diavolo kinda walks away with his hands pretty clean when really he used mc as a pawn in a way? And then the mc goes home???
It’s just never sat right and because there isn’t really an arc or really anything to address it, the rest of the game feels hollow. I dunno…kinda wished things kept the darker tone, ya’know? Like the mc havin spending time kind of being upset and a bit spiteful and maybe that’s what fuels them to learn magic, at first at least. Like the mc still has this genuine love and wonder but focuses on the human realm with Solomon for a while. Could even throw Simeon and Luke hanging out with the mc too, bonding and forming a deep bond. Then it could cut to the brothers and the demons facing what they’d done with true pain and consequence. Having reactions of Solomon, Simeon, and Luke. Solomon bein right about keepin demons at an arms length. Simeon bein right about not trusting Diavolo one bit and Luke not trusting demons…could’ve been interesting to explore
( sorry this is long, I can’t sleep and this was on my mind. And please don’t get me wrong I adore these characters just wish the game went in a different direction)

the thing abt one of the most <3 solomon scenes being copied word for word for diavolo is just so. it's not even insane or unbelievable to me it's just extremely irritating like these are genuinely such wonderful characters in a wonderful setting how are the devs messing up on the writing bit THIS bad.
idm the fan service because like... otome game & all that but also that doesn't mean that they can't have a compelling plot and good writing to go with it????? especially in events like clearly they keep trying to include every single character and it just. doesn't work. and there are just SO MANY events too like if you're playing for non-plot purposes it's still so goddamn annoying because let the players breathe 😭
idk i just wish the writing quality in the game would improve at the very least. like it's fine if it's 'cringe' or wtv at least come up with original and decent plots instead of just repeating the same things over and over again yk?
sorry about the rant i've just been really pissed about this lately in the game 😭
oh my GOSH raaz solomon is the last person the obm devs haven't messed up (+ the new side characters, specifically mephistopheles) and i'm so terrified of the obm devs ruining him like they did everyone else...
in this new steampunk event, the locked route is SPECIFICALLY being catered for whales. unlocking the chapters was easy to build up to, but now you need 15 keys off the bat to continue, and i feel like it's heavily reflective of how indifferent the devs are towards actually doing their own characters justice. everything is meant to serve their whales, bring in more revenue, and sit comfortably even when they know they're angering their own fanbase by rubbing salt in the wound (i.e. making satan self-aware of his cat obsession, solomon outwardly expressing discomfort for the erasure of his humanity from other characters).
the devs are growing to completely disregard their own story, slapping together some fanservice in the main story when most of their fanbase can't even reach that point. why not serve your veterans & those who financially support you with consistent & cathartic story arcs? why not balance everyone, everything?
so i share your frustrations: obey me has been spiraling down in quality for a long time. i think that the last time i've been satisfied with the story was during season 2, when the fandom wasn't as big, and people were invested in figuring out what'll happen next because everything was cleverly panning out to a huge event: the dagger scene with lucifer. people didn't know what to make of simeon's play, and i remember when people theorized that the play would parallel a huge event near the end of the season... and we were right! and so many people were genuinely happy with the story being able to keep their interest and keep them on their toes.
now, there is a severe lack of anything reminiscent of holding anyone's interest, even the veterans, even me. i would woefully log onto tumblr as season 4's lessons rolled around every week, and would share everyone else's disappointment when we gradually accepted the fact that the story was easy to predict given how lazy the devs had become. i want them to take their time so badly, to give us quality over quantity, but with solmare now becoming so big with their new cash cow, obey me, compared to their previous cliche otome games, i think they've allowed the success to get to them.
thoughts of “it's an awful game, i hope no one plays it” and “it's a nice game to play, i can't wait to share my thoughts” are two things that can coexist, albeit shaped into something more along the lines of “it's a horrendous game that i can bond over with friends” once you find yourself being sucked deeper into it.
i don't think i'll stop playing anytime soon, because as i told someone in the past, “[it has] flavor in all of its terrible, atrocious glory”. i'm able to use concepts & ideas that the story gives me and, in my eyes, i get to make it better. i get to share my thoughts with like-minded people like you, and everyone jumps on the inspiration bandwagon. people bond over the same failures that makes us frustrated, and that's one of the few reasons i have any semblance of gratitude for obey me.

Unpopular opinion: (I'm gonna preface this by saying that I'm only on Lesson 46. So I'm fresh out of S2 and I am LIVID.) I straight up don't like Diavolo. And after the main conflict of S2, I don't trust him, Barbatos, or Solomon at all. And probably won't again.
MC has always felt like only a means to an end for Diavolo, and whether or not he caught feelings, the way he treats them and other characters in the game (I feel) is without any regard for their own agency as beings? If that makes sense? He's a prince and you can tell. He decides things unilaterally without consulting the people his decisions affect and even if it's for "the good of all three realms," it's still someone else's entire world he's rocking.
I've seen stills from further on in the game that rub me the wrong way, too, but without context I can't really form too much of an opinion on it. But yeah.
I feel like the distrust of Barbatos is obvious, as much as I do like him. And Solomon. Solomon's always rubbed me wrong. How do you live as long as he has, with the power he has, and maintain your humanity? And then keeping everything from MC about the ring for as long as he did, only to come back afterward with, "Hey, I wanna bounce ideas off each other in the future." Pass, homeboy. Why didn't you consult me on the issue that I actually should have been in on?
And Simeon's on thin fucking ice, but like. Idk, I have a soft spot for him, I guess.
I'm just salty about S2.
@delphi-dreamin
oh yeah i can def see that. i didn’t mind the conflict w diavolo but i’m also not super invested in the story but he’s def kind of a jerk. i think he thinks he’s acting in a way that will be best but fails to consider others/their goals etc.
and barbatos is shady but as i mentioned earlier in the night i like that abt him LMAO
and as for solomon,,, idk it seems weird to me that we haven’t had any major conflicts w him yet as everyone constantly is talking abt how unreliable and shady he is so i won’t be surprised if there’s an arc based around him in the future
but your interpretation of diavolo & how his status changes his behavior is so so interesting!! i hadn’t really thought abt it before but i feel like it’s all i’m going to be thinking abt for the next little while

HI MEM!! here’s a pass to go on a book rant (because i love when you’re a hater hehe… esp if we’re hating together >:)) AND AS FOR TRYSI ASKS… gimme some songs for them pre-breakup and post-breakup 😳😳 i expect ANGST!!
THANK YOU FOR THE RANT PASS, WE ALL KNOW WHAT I’M GOING TO RANT ABOUT THIS TIME… I’M SORRY, I HAVE OTHER BOOKS I COULD RANT ABOUT, BUT LET’S TALK ABOUT THE DISGRACE OF A SPIN-OFF SERIES THAT DID MY PRETTYBOY SOO DIRTY
re: evangeline being a shitty character. hoh boy. yikes. like, she was pumped straight out of “generic ya protagonist” factory with all the default settings and stephanie went “yes, this is good character building”. …. i’d be more interested in a shallow character. i said it in my previous tags, but there could at least be a somewhat interesting dynamic there. maybe it would be hilarious to stick jacks with a character boring as bricks!!!! ((this is why simeon and jacks make a very funny friendship dynamic)). maybe it would be cool to explore a character that’s shallow developing depth??? maybe we could have a character with, like, a legit backstory? but a) evangeline’s boring, and b) she’s just a poorly-written reader-insert, since stephanie wanted to appease the fangirls in love with this bitchy fate. sorry, but jacks wants a bitch <3 he needs a spitfire girl to keep him in his place <333 evangeline needs to go to her pre-calc class, she’s failing rn.
((related: still thinking of that one post i saw where somebody was like “stop saying evangeline is stupid and make bad decisions! she’s just feminine! say you hate women next time!” …… so naturally feminine women make bad decisions??? they’re stupid?????? is that what you’re saying??? also, like??? the original protagonists were highly feminine characters??? i’m so confused with how femininity MUST mean trad-wife, LIKE WHAT??? ? anyway, evangeline is a bad character, but not bc she’s feminine. it’s because she’s poorly written.)
OH YEAH, WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU A) ADMIT TO NOT KNOWING HOW YOU WANT TO END THE SERIES, AND B) ADMIT THAT YOU PLOTTED THE SECOND NOVEL FROM JACKS’S POV AND DECIDED TO LEAVE EVANGELINE WAITING AROUND FOR HIM TO COME BACK WITH PLOT-RELAVENT DETAILS???shitty, boring writing, couldn’t figure out what to do, so we leave the protagonist in her perfect little cage because she’s a boring doll for jacks to toss around when he’s around. no, sorry—because even if evangeline were a doll, she would be a more interesting character. i mean it.
((side note: you can have a traditionally feminine character with pink hair actually do shit btw…. like luna rune is right there, getting shit done, and then she’s happy to settle down with simeon and have three kids. like, it makes sense for her character arc to be badass and travel through time, and then end up with a happy life at the end of it all…… it’s possible to write something where that’s fulfilling. god, it’s like stephanie wrote a random character and decided to slap jacks’s name on him so he could be attractive as a “villain”. he’s a sopping wet cat with the remains of his failed schemes scattered around him. ALSO, HE’S NOT MUSCULAR, HE CAN’T FIGHT, THERE’S NO WAY HE CAN SHOOT A FUCKING BOW AND ARROW.))
i’m DONE.
———
anyway.. trysi pre-breakup:
every little thing she does is magic by the police ((…PEAK HIGH SCHOOL TRYSI, I CRY))
only the good die young by billy joel ((i like thinking of chrysi pulling tris from his shell to this song… tris’s mom does NOT like chrysi, because chrysi gets him in a lot of trouble, so that’s what this song makes me think of :)) that said, tris’s dad LOVES chrysi for that exact reason LMAO))
kiss me you animal by burn the ballroom ((he sings this and then goes on a date with chrysi and is like “;;;;;;;;;;; hi…… can we… what if we… uhhh kiss?” “……..you remember those cleaning closets. why are you acting like this?” UMM…))
trysi post-breakup:
superstar by carpenters ….. IT’S FINE, THIS SONG DOESN’T KILL ME EVERY TIME.
always something there to remind me by naked eyes ((lyrically… it’s a bit upbeat for their breakup, but the lyrics are soooo tris going around and being reminded of their relationship. he loved her so much…))
more than a feeling by boston (again, lyrically, it fits?? but it’s a bit more upbeat than i think tris would listen to. THAT SAID, I LOVE THIS SONG TOO MUCH. YOU’RE STUCK WITH IT.)
i hope ur doing well (feat. colliding with mars) by savage ga$p, colliding with mars ((juno and i love to say that tris would make songs abt chrysi like this allll the time if his bandmates didn’t stop him. it’s so whiny <33 i think it’s hilarious))
i wanna know by tea ((OKAY, LIKE, I’M ACTUALLY SERIOUS ABOUT THIS ONE. I LOVE THE LYRICS AND THE VIBE. IT’S TRIS AND CHRYSI ABOUT EACH OTHER))
the killing kind by marianas trench ((particularly the way it sounds, but lyrics fit somewhat??? i loooove this song though hehe))
unrelated songs that make me think of tris:
night life by hello atlantic ((tris accidentally turned into a murderous vampire on one of his concert nights??? oh???? and chrysi now has to help him??? what a shame!))
sad (clap your hands) by young rising sons ((he’s my pathetic little babygirl, you must understand…))
coward by those who dream ((PEAK TRIS SONG, HE’S GOT SOOOO MUCH UNRESOLVED ANXIETY. DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT))
rot by dbmk ((idk, it makes me think of him… the idea that he’s rotten to the core appeals to me, like—i think he views himself that way!!! esp when he can’t control his magic and he hurts ppl because he gets easily distressed—but also, that he wants so much more, and it makes him feel like he’s rotten??? AAUGH.))
dream on by aerosmith ((mostly, i think he’d like this song in general. and he’d sound soooo pretty while singing it <33))

So what the characters and relationships and storylines are in the Miraculous Agatha AU version of Hercule Poirot's Christmas, systematized for the viewers unfamiliar with the original novel:
So there's the father, Simeon, who is pretty much an asshole. Neglected his (currently deceased) wife, cheated left and right, was a dishonest man in adventures in Africa he enjoyed in his youth, as well as vindictive to a fault. And arrogant to a fault. There are his four adult sons: Alfred, George, David and Harry, as well as two adult illegitimate sons, Stephen Grant and Superintendent Sugden (no first name given canonically, always the rank+surname or just the surname, I'll maybe invent one for him).
In our Miraculous world, Simeon used to wield a bunch of Miraculouses, gained during his many adventures. The Ox, the Monkey, the Horse - he loved and actively used these - and the Dog and possible some other Miraculous that he didn't like much.
Alfred is a very devoted and loving person. Simeon isn't and despises Alfred's voiceless loyalty to him. His will leaves Alfred the Dog Miraculous in a "you can have this shit if you are like this" kind of gesture. During events of the plot (those surrounding Simeon's death) Alfred grows a backbone and learns to make important decisions. He eventually embraces Adoration in a healthier version as a strength even if Simeon would disagree.
Harry is an energetic and sassy person. Simeon is that too, and leaves Harry the Monkey Miraculous. During events of the plot Harry realises that Simeon's idea of Derision can hurt people seriously (Alfred for example), and he doesn't want it but does love good fun, so he decides to learn to embrace a healthier version of it while avoiding becoming another Simeon.
George is arrogant, shallow and greedy and refuses to learn anything from the events of the plot. Simeon's will leaves him the Ox, but George refuses it in favour of taking its cost in money.
David is a sensitive and emotional artistic person, Simeon isn't and despises these traits in David. It's mutual, David hates Simeon due to childhood memories of Simeon's neglect of the deceased wife. I am not sure yet how I will use Miraculouses to represent David's growth, but he is supposed to learn to overcome trauma.
Stephen is a determined and hardworking person. Simeon is determined too but has no idea of Stephen's existence. Stephen grew up in a healthy family, knew about Simeon from other people and imagined him an interesting person. During the events of the story he meets the father and the family, is weirded out by all the stuff going about. Eventually he is given the Ox by Alfred the next head of the family. The situation is full of irony, but Stephen would never meet his half-brothers to befriend (and a love interest he met during the journey too) if it wasn't for his Determination, so it works. Now he accepts a part of Simeon's heritage not because of wanting to be Simeon's son that much, but because of wanting to be the group's brother.
Sugden is an antagonist of the story, he is obsessively vindictive and proud in his hate of Simeon (ironically becoming a copy of his enemy in some worst ways) and sets most of the plot events to motion by murdering Simeon. I intend him to have the Tiger Miraculous from an unrelated source.
Another character with a character arc going on is Conchita Lopez aka "Pilar Estravados", a mischievous young adventure seeker who pretends to be Simeon's granddaughter but remorses when the situation goes out of hand. She's a Fox wielder in this story, evolving from a misuser into a more responsible wielder.
There also are Lydia (Alfred's free-spirited wife who has big positive relevance both in his and in Conchita's arcs, gets the Horse eventually), Hilda (David's rational wife with positive relevance in his arc mostly), and Magdalene (George's wife who is a selfish and shallow person like George himself)
Ah, and of course there's Poirot to investigate, but he's for the plot here)

Like I just thought of this but honestly why would the Celestial Realm choose Simeon for the exchange program in the first place? Seems like a pretty suspish task to assign an angel who already has history of being rebellious. I think either they want Simeon to be pushed that extra bit into falling, or maybe they just figured “pfft, send Simeon, hopefully he’ll get eaten” or something
It is definitely an interesting choice! There are a few different factors and possibilities here, so it's hard to draw a single solid conclusion, but we find Simeon and his position in all of this to be utterly fascinating, so let's talk about it!
(this got long, so sticking it behind a read more -- spoilers through season 3 below!)
First off, Simeon mentions that Luke was personally handpicked by Michael for the exchange program but never particularly mentions the same of himself, which does raise a potential question of whether he was actually chosen in the first place. Could it be that, out of all the angels, he was the only one to willingly volunteer himself? He certainly doesn't seem to share the predominant outlook on demons that other angels such as Luke, and formerly Lucifer, generally have. Given how differently he seems to look at things compared to the other angels, and seeing as he used to be quite high up himself, it wouldn't be entirely shocking if he had just offered to be one of the exchange students.
On the other hand, if he was chosen in particular, there's the question of why. Given his no-fucks-given attitude and willingness to talk back, he's not the easiest to work with, so maybe his superiors just wanted him out of his hair for a while. Perhaps it's a forceful test of loyalty because they don't trust him and want him to prove himself.
Or, more sinisterly, it's possible that it's a way of passive aggressively shutting down Diavolo's efforts at creating peace between the realms -- a goal which they don't seem outright opposed to, but which they also don't seem to really support. If they already dislike Simeon because of his attitude and think he might fall, a gentle push over the threshold that conveniently happens while he's down in the Devildom is a great excuse to shut that all down, or even declare war if that's a goal of theirs. After all, they previously sent Lucifer as their representative to communicate with Diavolo, and their conversations together planted such major doubts in the Celestial Realm that it eventually led to his rebellion and fall. Having another angel fall after spending time there is a great excuse to say, "Hey, you're doing something bad to our angels, so we refuse to cooperate anymore, and in fact we're going to destroy the Devildom to ensure no more angels fall."
While this is probably the most extreme take on the Celestial Realm, it's worth remembering that this game puts us on the side of the demons, and biblically, there is a predicted "end times" which involves angels battling and defeating demons once and for all. If there's conflict coming, it seems likely it'll originate from the Celestial Realm, and for a realm that seems to overall look down upon demons with disgust and distrust, it's possible they could be aiming for such an end result to come true. If that's the case, they might well be willing to sacrifice Simeon to do so.
The other major aspect to consider, however, is that he's acting as the primary diplomat between their realms. Simeon's job is to keep eyes on the Devildom's activities and pass messages from the Celestial Realm, especially from Michael, to Lord Diavolo. Much like MC is an exchange student mostly along for the ride while Solomon acts as a "leader" for the human realm, Luke is just a child, leaving Simeon to fulfill the diplomatic role for the angels. Considering what a critical role this is, we can at least say it's unlikely that he was sent just to get eaten, or as some kind of cruel bullying. And, whatever his personal feelings about the Celestial Realm, he does seem to act out this role quite deftly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Season 2 especially, he gives away nothing about the Celestial Realm's intentions, while pointedly revealing that he is passing information about the Devildom back to the angels, and unflinchingly delivers a not-so-veiled threat to Lord Diavolo on Michael's behalf. As an ambassador, he's a pain to deal with, and maybe that's exactly why the Celestial Realm chose him -- as Solomon says, "He's not like the other angels." He's plainly willing to be disrespectful, regardless of whether he's talking to Michael, Diavolo, or anybody else. Simeon has a uniquely killer "I'm a polite diplomat who isn't saying anything actually wrong so you can't do anything to me, but I'm also totally threatening you" smile. And while he's not really high-ranking enough to come across as outright aggressive from the Celestial Realm, he used to be, which means they're likely more willing to entrust him with this role that might not normally fall upon such a "low-level grunt," and this has the added benefit of not really burdening the Celestial Realm with tying up a high-ranking angel long-term too. All of this makes him actually a perfect pick for handling a tense diplomatic relationship in which they want to be not-so-blatant aggressors.
Finally, we should also consider what exactly Simeon's history of rebellion is. And the answer is, well...we don't actually know! Why was he demoted? Why did the game seem to suggest that their father is his greatest fear, not Lucifer's? Was the demotion one drastic kick down, or was it gradual? What is he actually like in the Celestial Realm? We certainly have our personal thoughts and headcanons around all of these questions, but the truth is, there's no canonical answer yet! But what we do know is this: Simeon has only much more recently come to realize just how unhappy he really was.
We see him sass Michael at the end of Season 2, but a major theme around Simeon following that is reflection. Throughout Season 3, he's grappling with the realization that the old Celestial Realm, before the brothers fell, were some of the happiest times of his life -- a happiness that has been depressingly missing from his life since then.

Instead, he seems to have been just going through the motions of Celestial Realm life since then. So how rebellious was he actually, when he first arrived in the Devildom? We know that he was taking a very hands-off approach on mentoring Luke, having the young angel learn about how the world and demons really are on his own, but there's nothing in early game to suggest he's outright rebellious at that time. He's always had a teasing sense of humor, but the real shift seems to come during that critical Season 2 moment -- the moment where he realizes that the ones he loves are in danger, understands that there's something he can do about it, and makes the decision to act out and do what he believes is right, consequences be damned. It's only from that point that he seems to really become rebellious, and as Luke worriedly mentions in Season 3, he starts spacing out a lot and seemingly avoiding Michael.
Tumblr media
Compounded with the other events of Season 3, what this seems to suggest is that at the start of the game, Simeon might not actually have had such a rebellious streak. Instead, what it seems like is that he used to be quite defiant, but at some point, his spirit was broken down into obedience, until this incident wakes him up from the comforts of being numb. So, maybe his rebelliousness wasn't a factor in being chosen at all. Maybe it's just the reverse, and being chosen to spend all this time in the Devildom is what has reawakened the long-dormant defiance within him.
But we won't really know the answer to this or any other questions until Season 4, which will hopefully be coming very soon!

Lesson 70 wouldn't have been that bad if they actually put effort into it, like (spoilers?) no one should expect these two to get along all the time especially with how long their animosity went on, it makes sense that it's not gonna just go away right away, it will probably take years for satan to work out his issues with it all. But the way they went about it was just so bad??? the concept seemed kind of cool at first but it didn't play out in any way that would make it interesting, and then by the end suddenly they're over it and everything is fine? with little effort to work everything out? like luci just said a few words after satan literally running away from home after a huge fight and all it took was a "oh, you misunderstood what I meant" and suddenly its over??? if thay was the case that could've been said before a fight even broke out like why did we have to go through a whole chapter for that? I was really hoping for a little more depth with Satan's character but solmare hates him so I guess that was asking for too much 😔
and I agree that they should be focusing on the side characters rn, especially luke and Raphael being that they're likely gonna have a big role in simeons arc, getting to know them and the celestial realm a bit more seems like a good move rn
this family has the most annoying communication issues it's unreal like.... Why didn't lucifer clarify what he meant when he saw how satan reacted, wouldn't it make sense to be like "hey that's a weird reaction"( <o>_<o>)💢 but hey just as satan is an emotional fire hydrant lucifer is so emotionally constipated he wouldn't have picked up on it anyways (=_=
like???? one conversation and it's over what a waste of time. and so true thier issues won't be resolved so quickly but to have no progression at all is just😮‍💨 ++ we already know that satan has a complex over how he came to be so if they wanna revisit this lame plot can't they tell us What that specifically means for him? or How exactly that makes him different from other demons because atp there really is no huge difference . "he was a part of lucifer but he's just a regular demon" like uh okay😑👍🏿
just give me the luke lore TT_TT

And That's makes 15 Characters!
Tumblr media
The brothers!
Lucifer, Mammon, Leviathan, Satan, Asmodeus, Beelzebub, and Belphegor.
The Royals
Diavolo and Barbatos.
The Purgatory Hall boys
Luke, Simeon, and Solomon.
and Finally the new characters. (Its a guess from the Leak)
Reaper, Mephistopheles, and Raphael.
So, my guess Reaper is the same Reaper that Solomon is connected to.
then Mephistopheles will be a throne to Lucifer or Satan or Mammon.
and Raphael with be the character to Asmo due to his history back in the past.
So the arcs are for Solomon, the three mention. and Asmo.
Things are getting interesting

Oo, on the topic of sandwiches... what are your thought on Simeon x MC x Lucifer? I feel like there could be so much baggage, but there’s also just... so much history and room for healing and reconciliation? Simeon is already really trying to reach out to Lucifer and reconnect, but he’s also so struggling in his day to day life with letting people in and seeing the uglier sides of himself. Or it could be just fucking angst. Like I can see it going over one of two ways - an oscar worthy dramatic romance with so many heartfelt confessions, or a Greek Tragedy. Yay or nae, I ask?
I feel bad bc I've actually got another ask about this pairing, and the answer I came to after writing about it was kinda... Nay?
That's not to say the ship is completely unworkable, but to be honest, it's something that you'd put in a longfic, one where Luci and Simeon are both getting character development and a whole reconciliation arc.
As they are in the game, though... there are some problems.
Now, Lucifer is actually a surprisingly Good Boy when it comes to sharing MC in the story.
He arranges for you to have equal time with the brothers, and he even doesn't hesitate to send you to spend time with one of his brothers if the situation calls for it.
So Lucifer, I could actually see sharing... with his brothers. And with Diavolo, he's obviously friendly, respectful.
But these are all people Lucifer knows well. People he's close to. People whose happiness he considers his responsibility.
Simeon... is not on that list, not really. Although in later seasons, Lucifer does start to warm up to him, but early on, their relationship is definitely pretty chilly. At least, on Lucifer's side.
Simeon is quite an archetypal angel, trying to get along with Lucifer, sidestepping and ignoring loads of barbed comments and even outright rejection.
(hmmmMMmm I wonder who else tells us he won't take no for an answer? and not nearly as nicely as Simeon goes about it-)
Lucifer likes the Devildom. He likes being a demon. He feels like it suits him, more than the Celestial Realm ever did.
Simeon... is an angel. Simeon was a seraph, the highest rank of angel (the rank Lucifer was), when Lucifer first rebelled.
There's enough to unpack between them without you getting in the middle of it. If you are in the middle of it...
-
I can see a much more competitive, and possibly even aggressive angle with this than other sandwiches.
Lucifer doesn't want you to leave him. He doesn't want you to leave his brothers, and the people in the Devildom who care about you. He, in particular, doesn't want you in the Celestial Realm, a place he despised enough to rebel against.
Leaving him for Simeon is probably like... one step below leaving him for Michael. Or going whole hog and leaving him for his father to become a nun -
So his investment in the sandwich is very much. Assert his position. Keep his hold on you. Make sure you don't run away with the angel.
Simeon himself is tangentially interested in mending things with Lucifer, but also of course quite genuinely in love with you.
To be honest, there's gonna be some tension over that. Lucifer would be pretty quick to pick at any perceived fault on Simeon's part. Not super aggressively, but definitely with disdain.
As for Simeon, he's pretty much completely immune. There's not much Lucifer can do to him. Even the most barbed remarks will be either brushed off or ignored completely.
Or worse, Simeon will respond to Lucifer with compliments. A remark on his embarrassing texting skills will be met with a, "You're much better at it than I am, aren't you, Lucifer? You even gave a name to our private chat!"
(it definitely pisses off Lucifer, in this case because Lucifer named his chat with Simeon "Brothers No More". you know. so that Simeon would. Get the message)
You won't be going on many dates with them both at once, primarily because Lucifer won't want to.
However, I can see him hanging out with you while you're with Simeon. Mostly to keep you and Simeon from getting too close.
Over time, he might grow more comfortable with the arrangement, and even fonder of Simeon, as he seems to in the main game.
Lucifer can speak and act towards Simeon on perfectly amiable terms, of course, and he does that even in Season 1.
But that's because Simeon is a guest from another realm. The group chat is named "Brothers No More" and Lucifer often straight up ignores Simeon's texts.
It's actually pretty amazing watching Simeon take it like a champion tbh. He's not perturbed in the least, and I suspect that behavior might bother Lucifer - just like your nosiness does before you and Luci get close.
With you around, maybe they can manage some genuine interactions. If you make a group chat Lucifer might just leave unless he sees Simeon flirting with you XD
Overall... honestly, I don't see it ending in any tragic heartbreak (unless you leave Lucifer for Simeon) but I don't think they could really get close enough for things to work as well as some of the other sandwiches.
Even if Simeon were to fall and become a demon, I'm not sure if Lucifer would ever see him like family, the way he sees his brothers.
The baggage between them is something that would be exacerbated by a sandwich, I think, and not fixed by it. It's something they'd need to work out on an individual level if it were ever going to go away completely.
In any case... they're both very intelligent people, but a sandwich here is very much like being in a relationship with both of them individually.
Simeon and Lucifer will leave you to your other lover as you please, but this isn't going to be much of a threesome where you're all in synch.

Lesson 56 analysis + 57 predictions
I was right and wrong! Nothing unusual.
The Belphie-Diavolo arc continues and we go to meet up with Diavolo, only to discover it wasn't him who paged us, but his captor. We go to confront the captor who threatens us with a gun and Diavolo seems pretty carefree and oblivious about the man's true intent until he freaks out and attempts to shoot Belphie. MC can use their magic to protect him, but he informs us that bullet don't harm him anyway. A lightbulb seems to finally go off in Diavolo's head and he realizes what is happening, and he transforms and seems adamant about punishing the assailant. Belphie learns how much Diavolo cares about him and goes all tsundere-y throughout the rest of the lesson.
The big thing that happens is the Diavolo background bits and his confession + kiss. I anticipate there was much squeeing, but it was pretty standard confession fare. I have a harder time getting into it because we didn't really have any big bonding moment with him prior to him apparently falling for us.
But whatever. There are some interesting bits to comb through!
Raphael: Misunderstood?
We find out in the beginning of this lesson that Belphegor has a much higher opinion of Raphael than the rest of the brothers, that seems to have stemmed from Raphael once saving him when he got lost in the forest back in the Celestial Realm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Up until this point, all associations with Raphael have been negative. This gives us some background on why he might be irritable and snide all the time, because Michael is also noted to be a sadist by Simeon, who enjoys making harsh demands of his underlings. He might be a hint resentful and taking it out on the brothers? That might be multiplied if Michael clearly goes easier on them due to favoritism in spite of all their troublemaking. I think that'd kind of make sense.
Tumblr media
They like to put emphasis on how secretly malevolent the Seraphim are -- that they're duplicitously evil. Not sure how much they're actually trying to hide it, though? It sounds like Raphael was pretty upfront about how he felt about everything.
Diavolo's Flaws
We find out that Diavolo is actually aware of his penchant for using his royal status to get those around him to do what he wants. We also find out that his mother died giving birth to him, and his father was very strict in raising him. He was sheltered, and not allowed to speak with anyone outside of the castle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting Tywin Lannister vibes. Diavolo isn't sure whether or not his father hates him for being responsible for his beloved wife's death.
In spite of being sheltered from the outside world, Diavolo still manages to meet Barbatos, which I think confirms that Barbatos was not always in their service. I was wrong that Barbatos's employment was connected to his father's machinations, though: it was Diavolo who twisted his arm into it, because Diavolo desperately wanted a friend and became enamored with the stories of the outside world that Barbatos told him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diavolo threatened to abdicate his throne if Barbatos didn't stay. Which is actually... kind of an asshole move? I imagine he refused for a reason, and Diavolo taking the throne was apparently very important to his father (and probably the Devildom as a whole if the succession would be muddled).
Tumblr media
I don't think at this point Barbatos minds, but I wouldn't blame him if he initially did resent Diavolo.
Diavolo has demonstrated he has the ability to sense lies and he's a good judge of character, so him being unable to ascertain whether or not his father or Barbatos really likes him seems noteworthy. I think Barbatos is the best fake smiler among them, but he's been at Diavolo's side the longest.
He has a surprising amount of insecurities when it comes to his closest relationships, but I'm afraid a lot of it is his own fault: if he hadn't extorted Barbatos and instead Barbatos entered his service of his own free will, he probably wouldn't need to second guess the butler's intentions. Additionally, if he didn't demand Lucifer make a vow in exchange for his sister's life, there's a chance that maybe it'd be easier for Lucifer to open up and get closer to him like a friend naturally would.
And then maybe he wouldn't have spent most of season 2 worrying over how Lucifer may respond to bad news!
But he's growing out of it. Sort of. I'd be wary of him trying to strongarm MC into a decision they may not necessarily want to make, though, even now. Maybe especially now given his apparent attachment to them.
Barbatos scheming
Barbatos is being schemey!
Tumblr media
I have a feeling this involves the information Luke relayed to him about a potential rift growing between Michael and Simeon. I would not be surprised if Barbatos has actually peered into the future and knows what Michael might be planning, and he's positioning himself to counter it.
I was hoping hard mode or the subnode would shed more light on what this conversation entailed, but nope, it was just more fluff. I doubt they were just discussing dinner, though.
Predictions
This lesson was more Diavolo-centric than I expected but that's hardly unwelcome. Like expected, it was a good fluffy lesson in spite of the, uh, grim background.
The brothers behaved for once and didn't intrude upon our bonding experience with Diavolo and Belphegor.
We didn't actually receive a star for this trial, which is... odd. Maybe we'll receive it in the beginning of the following lesson, or perhaps this romp wasn't a trial? It'd be the first one that wasn't. I'll be really surprised if they go for another twofer and don't give Lucifer his own special arc.
I was expecting to be rewarded our star and having the lesson end on a cliffhanger but it feels like the next lesson will be the beginning of the final arc. Outside of Barbatos's potential maneuvering, we weren't given any further information on what Michael may be planning.
If Season 2's format is any indicator, the next lesson is when everything suddenly hits the fan. I sense another sudden exposition dump on the horizon.
They did mention going to yet another space-themed park but that sounds like it'd be too... samey. Also not a place that sounds like it'd be Lucifer's cup of tea.
I'd be willing to bet Barbatos will play a part in the finale and by extension so will time travel (again), but other than that I got nothing. If Michael is aware of Barbatos's powers -- and he may very well be -- maybe he'll be the one who manages one hell of a Xanatos Gambit and try to turn it to his advantage. I'd be surprised if he wasn't similarly prepared, particularly if he's plotted and meddled with Devildom affairs in the past.
But I'm not even entirely sure what he really wants yet, and that drives everything.
The most straightforward motivation would be getting the brothers back, but he must know they would never willingly go back presently and we're not even entirely sure daddy would want them back. I theorized that he might be trying to get MC to turn the demon brothers back to their angel selves but there really hasn't been much progress shown in that regard.
I do expect our meddling in the flashbacks will have some unforeseen consequences which Michael alluded to, but I still don't know exactly what and I'm not entirely convinced that they will actually be to his benefit.
He might want to change the past, prevent whatever triggered Lucifer to start hating their father and/or stop him from meeting Diavolo and growing more and more doubtful about the Celestial Realm's intent... but he already had that opportunity when MC went back in time, and he would have to find a way to manipulate Barbatos into getting him to that specific point in time. If he's in league with Solomon, he could feasibly do that via the pact but...
Are we really betting on a villainous Michael-Solomon tag team? idk man
And Barbatos can just eliminate that timeline fork with a snap of his fingers, like he did before.
I guess I'm finding out along with you guys. Again!

Note
I would like to hear your thoughts on Asmo please and thank you :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My pretty pretty boy!! Ngl I’m so happy to have more than one person sending him in ;w;
tagging @demonfamilytherapist since you sent in Asmo >.< Although idk if you can see that i tagged you since you’re still in the abyss…?
First impression
(man that wedding event, all my first impressions are based off of them and their proposals to MC >.<) He!! His proposal!! ;w; ;w; ;w; Struck me as a really thoughtful guy, vain and very self-loving.
Impression now
Okay, I really love Asmo okay?? It pains me that he’s one of the least popular characters because ugh!! He is still SO sweet and so lovely, especially to MC and he has his moments where he shows that he pay attention to his brothers and supports them. And he’s just so… interesting? I will stand by my opinion that he’s also the most unhinged and demonic out of all his brothers—the way he apparently doesn’t get scared and only pretends to be because it’s cute??? Him not telling MC about the hot spring he’s inviting them to being like… 400+ degrees and then being like ‘suit yourself!’ when they don’t wanna go? That shit he says about pulling out their heart if you respond a certain way when they return to the HoL in Lesson 13/14?
AND! The way he’s rarely ever that mad or sad about you rejecting his advances? I swear sometimes he’s like ‘oh that just makes you all the more attractive’ and I just ugh Asmo ;w;
There’s so many sweet moments with Asmo that’s hidden in the chats and Devilgrams and they contrast so interestingly to how he’s so downright venomous when he wants to be, notably with Mammon who’s also the second half of Team Party??
And speaking of Mammon, all the implications of Asmo being jealous of the guy are so fascinating to me, as well as all the hints (and Simeon’s blatant callout) of his insecurities?? His habit of being a people pleaser? And the incredibly depressing fact that despite his popularity he actually doesn’t rank as high as you’d think he would and lets it spill that no one ever says anything about his personality?
There is a hidden misery beneath his bubbly demeanor and I’m here for it!!
Favorite moment
Not quite a moment but I really, really enjoyed the Bloody Moon arc where you spend a whole lot of time with him and you get the first hints that his love for you/MC has eclipsed his love for himself.
Also his 2021 birthday event where he gets threats on his life and he‘s like ‘oh well~! haha’
Idea for a story
Satan and Asmo teaming up to torture someone. That’s it. Not even sure who and why but I want it happening.
Unpopular opinion
I do actually think that if you/MC asked him to, he’d keep the relationship closed and exclusive. To me, MC is kind of a The One/The One Exception for him? MC‘s gently eased their way into Asmo’s heart and he’s grown to love them like he’s never loved anyone else (during his time as a demon, at least.) I’m of the mind that MC’s enough to satiate him because they so genuinely love all of him… However it is gonna have to be fair—if MC has multiple partners, then they’re gonna have to be okay with him having multiple partners too.
Favorite relationship
Him and Mammon!! Team Party!! I enjoy their chats and banter and how they go between hating the shit out of each other to being each other’s besties for the sake of partying it up since they’re the only two Extroverts In That Way people in the family. Love it when they’re being little shits to each other and I also love it when they get along >.< There’s this one chat Team Party chat where Mammon asks MC and Asmo if they wanna go try something new at Madame Scream’s and when MC reminds Mams that Asmo’s on a diet, Mammon’s like ‘a little won’t hurt, just exercise and it’ll cancel out the calories >:3c’ and idk I love it a lot
Favorite headcanon
Asmo is in charge of the uniforms in RAD and has his own little team who make everything. They used to all have one single uniform but after one spiel about the importance of individuality and self-expression through aesthetic (especially since it looks like once you’re in RAD, you’re in RAD for eons) Diavolo’s like ‘alright I’ll leave all this up to you.’ He’s got this catalogue of various options (which is like… Intimidatingly massive in scope) and once the new student’s made their choices of jacket style, bottoms, what they’ll wear under, shoes, etc., by the end of the day it’ll be ready for them. Default is that a week’s worth of uniforms are delivered, but an order can be placed for more.

Gonna be posting my asks and answers from @well-shit-im-a-morosexual-now here cause tumblr's fucking up that blog:
Hii!!! I basically agree with everything you just said but I'll go into more detail on it with your points:
- I do 100% believe S4 should be a new character/angel focused season. I think I said so in the lesson 60 summary too that it'd make sense and be interesting to meet the angels and get their side of the story without the brothers' interference (the angels give me HEAVY morally grey characters who think they're wholly in the right vibes and I love it) + there's still a lot of Simeon and Solomon backstory to explore!
- The way S3 ended and how much of it was anyway about the angels I definitely think S4 will expand on it and introduce them
- And I think it'll possibly start right after S3 ends? I mean Raphael's here now and Solomon wants to start properly training MC so why not. And there's no other reason to leave Simeon and Luke behind than to start it up with them in the centre
- ALSO!!! ANDISJSHSKS "RAPH" given what they've showed of him he seems like the type of person to take HEAVY offense to that
- S3 did end with Raphael. Simeon called him by name.
- As much as I do want to see more Diavolo and find out more about his and more importantly Barbatos' backstories I don't think they'll turn up much? Or at least not until the last few lessons cause he left saying he had important personal issues to take care of back in the devildom
- I genuinely thought they would be shown in S3 after Solomon mentioned them and yeah damn I wanna know more about them. Also I just saw the Solomon UR+ animation card from months ago today
- I definitely want to know whose grave he was leaving flowers at
- As much as I want an angel focused season the amount of withdrawal I'd go through without the brothers is insane. I'm heavily invested in them but at least for now their arcs are at a place that can be paused
- they all got together to help Beel, a lot of Satan & Lucifer's + Belphie & Diavolo's issues have been resolved. I do want to know more about Lucifer's fear though and how he met the rest of the brothers (since they already told us Beel's story)
- With what they've said I kinda see Michael & Raphael being parallels to Diavolo & Lucifer, respectively. The somewhat childish boss and the long suffering right hand. I can see Diavolo wanting to like Michael purely because he wants to make proper peace with the Celestial Realm but also being somewhat internally pissed with him given how protective Diavolo is of the brothers and I can see Michael being sweet and friendly in return despite the fact that given everything Michael has said about demons, even in current times, he would probably be looking down on Diavolo for being 'wicked' and 'evil'. Basically I imagine them having the same kinda passive-aggressively polite relationship that Diavolo and Simeon had in S2 but somehow even less friendly
- Yes!!! Like I said the Celestial Realm gives heavy morally grey vibes and I want that to be explored more. I also need Luke's realisation that the Celestial Realm isn't always right to continue
- I have SO many Lilith HCs and I desperately need them to talk about her more. Like I understand why she's a sore topic and that Lucifer never even told them about her room in the HoL depite the fact that they've probably lived there for thousands of years and she does get brought up a bit in Belphie's fear but I need more. I also want them to explore why Belphie was so insistent with blaming the humans for Lilith's death when it was the angels that killed her, I gave my theories behind it in one of the summaries but I really need more solid answers
- I've always wanted more girls (or any girls really) and the way I was disappointed that we never got to see Lilith (I mean I understand that some players would HC her to look like their MC even though she died thousands of years before MC and they probably wouldn't share a resemblance but still) but I never considered Solomon's apprentice was a girl and I dunno why.. OKAY BUT CONSIDER GIRLS AS NEW LIS!!!!!
- I definitely think they would, it would make no sense if they didn't after how much they were hyped up and I might actually scream if they don't get designs. That being said I have very clear ideas of them in my head and I'm gonna hate having to part with them

@dreamseeker1032 You asked about Obey Me! on a previous post, but I have a tendency to ramble so I thought I'd make a new one just so that one didn't get too long.
Obey Me!, a game created by NTT Solmare, is an otome game with a gender neutral MC (meaning that the player character is never described, never refered to with specified pronouns outside of necessary they/thems, and very little gendered language attributed to them). The basic point is to romance an angels, several demon, and a human, all of whom you'll get horrifically attached to and want to fist fight literal Death for (who is also a character in the game!)
If you know the basic story of the biblical Fall - have ever read Paradise Lost, watched Supernatural or Fox's Lucifer, etc... - then you'll know a fair bit of the game's basic lore, as it follows the same sort of basis for the main characters' backstories. That said, it's also got a fairly unique plot;
MC, a human without magic, has been invited to the Devildom (hell) to take part in an Exchange Programme that's meant to improve relations between the Devildom (demons), the Human World (humans) and the Celestial Realm (angels). They're to stay there for a year, living with the powerful Avatars of Sin in order to keep them safe from harm, after which (should they survive) they'll be sent home. However, things aren't quite as they seem, as MC quickly realises that there's a brother missing, a staircase they're banned from going towards, and a voice crying out for help in the night. Not to mention a seemingly incredible amount of unresolved trauma from the Fall that plagues the brothers in very different ways...
It admittedly follows a little more into the path of demonology in terms of characters and the like; the Avatars of Sin (the original romanceable characters) are listed in the same order seen in demonology (Lucifer = Pride, Mammon = Greed, Leviathan = Envy, Satan = Wrath, Asmodeus = Lust, Beelzebub = Gluttony, Belphegor = Sloth), and relationships between certain characters are lifted from things like the Keys of Solomon (King Solomon himself being an actual character, and Barbatos, one of his pacted demons, also appearing in the game).
It focuses much more on the plot than the romance, especially at first. The game's separated (fanonically) into arcs, with the first ending around Chapter 20, I think? That one focuses on MC settling into the Devildom, developing relationships with the Avatars of Sin, and uncovering a family secret that's frankly emotionally devestating.
Even if you don't like the romance aspect of things (which, if you don't, Obey Me! often has platonic options you can choose from to avoid romantic scenes if you don't want them), the plot itself is well worth playing the game. It's a refreshing take on the Fall that portrays the brothers sympathetically, and honestly makes you question if they even deserved to Fall in the first place.
The game recently made some prior secondary characters romanceable, too, so now you can romance Diavolo (the Prince of the Devildom), Barbatos (his butler and a demon of many talents), Simeon (an angel exchange student who seems to have a lot of love to give, regardless of whether he's allowed to give it or not), and Solomon (a human sorcerer, and another exchange student). Naturally this means the story has pulled away from the Fall and its consequences (emotional and mental, as well as physical), but it's even more interesting now because we're starting to see signs that maybe things aren't as good in the Celestial Realm as we're led to believe.
The actual gameplay is split into Story Elements called Lessons and Battle Elements called Tasks. To progress, you reas through the Lessons until you come across a Task, and then do a very simplistic Dance Battle. If you win, you unlock the next Lesson; if you lose, you'll have to boost your cards.
This is because the game also has gacha elements. You can pull cards from an in-game app called Nightmare, which will feature all of the romanceable characters, and use them to form your Battle Teams. Winning Battles gives you items to upgrade the Cards, and upgrading Cards lets you win Battles, so it's a pretty standard system
Some Cards also come with a Story, which you can read in another in-game app called Devilgram. This often gives you more information on the brothers and their relationships, but also affords you extra scenes with the characters that you might not get in the main storyline. A lot of the romance can be found there.
Of course, now new characters are soon to be added, so we'll likely be entering another arc in the story - which means anything could happen from here on out. But that's admittedly half the joy of Obey Me!. Yes, it's taken a basis in the form of a well-known source material and characters that have been used in media countless times before - but Solmare's interpretation, character development, and lore progression is so different to what I've seen before, I can happily say it's my favourite imagining to date.
The game can have its flaws, yes - later battles can be extremely difficult, and some of the events Solmare have run feel more like cash grabs than actual content - but if you're willing to overlook things like that for the interest of the story, I'd highly recommend the game.

I don't have much to say about the rest of the S3 lessons, but I do have things to say about S4 of Obey Me.
Personally, I think that S4 should focus primarily on the angels (Simeon, Luke, Michael, Raphael, etc.), feature the side characters (Solomon, Barbatos, Diavolo), possibly introduce Solomon's first apprentice and maybe in Hard Mode you can check up on the brothers (you should know who the HOL brothers are).
I have a few reasons for this (in no real order :):
Reading the lesson summaries that you (and others) have provided, it seems like Mike and Raph- along with the Celestial Realm- will be important this season. So, wouldn't be a waste not to show them off?
The side characters need development. This is a perfect opportunity for some.
Simeon and Luke were standing for a longer period than the brothers, so it would make sense for them to show up again.
Simeon was talking to some angel (probably Raphael) at the end of S3. The game should obviously expand on that.
*Diavolo runs a hotel chain in the Human World, so it would make sense to see him again. And because Barbatos follows right behind him...
Solomon's first apprentice needs to be explored. What happened between them?
*The brothers should take a back seat in this season, since they're always there. No offense to them, but I need a break.
New character interactions is would be fun. To me, the best character interaction would be between Dia & Mike. Would they hate each other because of Lucifer? Would they get along? These are the questions that keep me up at night.
It could show off/expand upon the Celestial Realm, a chance for more lore and theories.
It could finally give insight into Simeon's past- which is always a good thing. (Same for everyone else.)
Now that the list is out of the way, here are some miscellaneous things that I couldn't fit on the list (also an clarification for 5 & 7. They explanations will also have an asterix at the beginning of them:):
*I don't expect Diavolo and Barbatos to show up that often, but I think that they should appear in at least 1-2 chapters.
*I also don't mind the brothers showing up, but I am worried that if they appear prominently, they might over take the season.
I kinda want the Lillith plotline/point to come back. I definitely wish it was executed better, but I do want to see the reaction from the angels (Mike and Raph basically).
I hope Solomon's apprentice was a girl. There's just too many guys here, we need a little diversity.
I would hate it if they didn't give us character designs for Michael and Raphael, though I would find it funny.
Well, I think I'm done for now. Do you agree, disagree? Do you like the color coding, should I keep doing it? Basically, I just want your thoughts on this.
Goodbye for now,
Lesson 42 Anon
Also I just saw the Solomon UR+ animation card from months ago today - I definitely want to know whose grave he was leaving flowers at
- As much as I want an angel focused season the amount of withdrawal I'd go through without the brothers is insane. I'm heavily invested in them but at least for now their arcs are at a place that can be paused - they all got together to help Beel, a lot of Satan & Lucifer's + Belphie & Diavolo's issues have been resolved.
That being said I have very clear ideas of them in my head and I'm gonna hate having to part with them
DO NOT GET RID OF THE COLOUR CODING! IT'S PART OF YOUR IDENTITY NOW! OWN IT!
