"Choose a place where you won't do very much harm – yes, choose a place where you won't do very much harm, and stand in it for all you are worth, facing the sunshine." (A Room With A View – E.M. Forster, 1908)
tadaa!! we're in the brand new century! i really like the 1900s so i based the sim off myself again, sorry. i just really really like the 1900s.
at first, there wasn't a lot of change between the 1890s and the 1900s. the "S" shape was still the ideal body shape attained via corsets and fabric cuts, and the ideal hairstyles were still updos/pompadours. the gibson girl was still a style icon, with her puffy, loose sleeves and large hairdos. hats, of course, were still a staple in most women's wardrobes. many dresses of this period contained lace in some way, as a trim or as a key element. as the decade goes on, the ideal body shape gets a bit more "natural", turning to a more "tubular" silhouette.

Sears Home no. 115
A humble starter home based on the 1908 catalog home from Sears.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sears Modern Home no. 115
This modest Edwardian era-Gilded Age starter home is based in plans, price, and appearance on one of the earliest Sears kit homes, the 1908 #115. Sold from 1908-1942, Sears Modern Homes were ordered through mail-order catalogs to be shipped by rail to buyers, who would assemble them by hand. Like Ikea, but for affordable housing. These houses were marketed to the growing American middle class and helped to popularize the latest technologies in home building, such as balloon frame construction, plumbing, electricity, and heating.
This lot includes:
4 bedrooms
2 baths (none in the original plans which is why they aren't labeled on my poster)
Parlor, Kitchen, and Pantry, as well as two covered porches
Unfurnished and Unfinished to fit price
20 x 15 lot size
$21,914 simoleons - or around 725$ adjusted for inflation when I built it in 2021. The dollar simoleon has depreciated more since then so it's not priced as historically accurate anymore :( Better value for your sims though!
Packs Used- packs in bold are essential:
Cottage Living, University, Cats & Dogs, Get Together, Vampires, Jungle Adventure.
This build was mostly made with base game materials, all packs used were for decoration only. No CC used.

ARGENTINIDAD
🇦🇷 A Argentinian Historial Sim Download A few weeks ago my historical tumblr with things related from my country took a lot of relevance, thanks to many resources I realized that there are many people who are interested in having several argentinian sims in their game, so this is for them and everyone interested in the history of different countries (or who need some sim for their game lol).
[More photos, info and download below]
These sims are originally from my Women's Day post inspired by female historical figures from different decades in Argentina. They are doctors, lawyers, writers and much more. But there is a bonus included which is two new sims = Corina Kavannagh and Lola Mora.
Tumblr media
Corina Kavanagh. 1890-1984.
Corina Kavanagh was an Argentinian rancher known for the Kavanagh Building , the tallest concrete skyscraper in Argentina and South America at the beginning of the last century. This building has a legend that says it was built because Corina fell in love with a man of the Anchorena family, one of the most illustrious surnames in Argentina. The Anchorena's were an aristocratic and landowning dynasty with a Basilica which they could see from their mansion. Corina had a wealthy family but they looked down on her as a "nouveau riche" with no lineage, so the Anchorenas prohibited her from having a relationship with one of their members. Corina bought the land between the basilica and the mansion and built 120 meters of concrete so that they could not see the church. Since 1936, the only way for the Anchorena family to visit their Basilica was through the Corina Kavanagh passage.
Tumblr media
(Lola) Dolores Candelaria Mora. 1866-1936.
The most flattered and discussed Argentine sculptor of her time, the artist who scandalized the society of her time, died in poverty and was vindicated by time. She began studying portrait and drawing in Tucumán and then obtained a scholarship in 1896 to perfect herself in Rome where she changed drawing for sculpture. There she was highly praised and in 1900 the artist decided to return to the country, where she obtained several state commissions, including the Fountain of the Nereids in 1903. She also faced controversy due to the nudity of her figures, and in her workshop it was common to find her working with pants on the structures of the sculptures.

I've always liked the Knock Around Couch from Cottage Living, as its classic Chesterfield look suits so many decors (actually, it's even more historically useful than I realized; early versions date back to the mid 1700s, though it wasn't as comfortable before the Victorians got their hands on it). Unfortunately, EA didn't bother to make anything to match it. So I made a matching loveseat. And then I decided that I wanted extra colors, so I made a recolor of the original, so that the extra colors in the loveseat would have matches in the couch. And then I was already drafting this post when I realized that a matching chair would also help. So I added a chair!
Knock Around Couch Recolors comes in 31 swatches and requires Cottage Living. Download from SimFileShare here.
Knock Around Loveseat comes in 43 swatches, 12 matching the Cottage Living Swatches, and 31 matching the Knock Around Couch Recolors. Base Game Compatible. Download from SimFileShare here.
Knock Around Chair comes in 43 swatches, 12 matching the Cottage Living Swatches, and 31 matching the Knock Around Couch Recolors. Base Game Compatible. Download from SimFileShare here.
Made with S4S.
Want something to coordinate with your pretty new comfort items? Try the Old Timey Lamp (on the wall in the photo above), or look at @anachrosims Gorgeous Georgians set, as many Knock Around swatches were designed to coordinate with those items.

A big happy 4th of July to my American simmers! What better way to celebrate than by creating a look book showcasing some of the most notable and iconic first ladies?
CC links under the cut.
Martha Washington was the first first lady of the United States, although the title wasn’t coined until after her death. She took on the social role of the president's wife reluctantly, becoming a national celebrity in the process.
Mop Cap  |  Hair  |  Dress (Recolour)  |  Dress (Mesh - TSR)  |  Fichu (Scarf)  |  Watch (Vintage Glamour)
Louisa Adams was born in London and raised in France. In fact she was the only foreign-born first lady until Melania Trump. While serving she took to writing, producing plays, essays, poems, and an autobiography.
Hair  |  Earrings  |  Dress  |  Undershirt & Shoes  |  Socks (Get To Work)
Mary Todd Lincoln staunchly supported her husband throughout his presidency and was active in keeping national morale high during the Civil War. She was seated next to Abraham when he was infamously assassinated.
Hair  |  Earrings  |  Dress
Frances Cleveland is the only first lady to have served in the role during two non-consecutive terms. At just 21 years old when she first starting serving, she is the youngest presidential spouse in American history and the first to actually marry in the White House.
Hair  |  Suit (direct download - Marilla’s suit)  |  Gloves (My Wedding Stories)
Nellie Taft was a very progressive woman for her time and was closely involved in the political aspects of the presidency, regularly sitting in on meetings and serving as her husband's closest advisor.
Hair  |  Earrings  |  Choker  |  Dress  |  Shoes
Mamie Eisenhower was a popular first lady and recognized as a fashion icon, known for her iconic bangs and frequent use of the colour pink.
Hair  |  Earrings  |  Dress  |  Watch (Vintage Glamour)  |  Shoes (Base Game)
Jackie Kennedy (header) was regarded as an international fashion icon and her work as a cultural ambassador of the United States made her very popular globally. She  established the White House Historical Association, which has had a lasting impact on the cultural landscape of the United States.
Hair (Nifty Knitting)  |  Earrings (Base Game)  |  Suit
Betty Ford was one of the most candid first ladies in history, commenting on the hot-button issues of the time such as feminism, equal pay, the Equal Rights Amendment, sex, drugs, and abortion. After undergoing her own recovery, she founded and served as the first chair of the board of directors of the Betty Ford Center for substance abuse and addiction.
Hair  |  Suit  |  Ring (My Wedding Stories)  |  Shoes (Base Game)
Michelle Obama worked as an advocate for poverty awareness, education, nutrition, physical activity, and healthy eating during her time as first lady. She also supported American designers and was considered a fashion icon.
Hair  |  Necklace  |  Dress  |  Shoes (Recolour)  |  Shoes (Mesh - TSR)

New lookbook for our eldest Walsh child, now in the 1900s! Now a bit older, Edeline has started wearing colors she prefers over her mother's obsession with pink and blue, especially green, her new favorite color. Her clothes are more functional than decorative as a result of starting school.

Antique China Stand
I just made another object for my game and I’m sharing it here. I am developing a taste for vintage/antique things. While decorating a historical-ish house, I came across the plate display from Parenthood pack and was like... Darn, that needs improvement!
Here I present you the Antique China Stand. I got rid of the emotional buff and increased the price, wrote a whole new description & arranged the color tags etc. Yes, it requires Parenthood pack, because I don’t know how to rip the mesh from the game and put it back as custom :D

Vintage Posters are here!
I have an Edwardian build I've been working on recently, with live-in servants in the attic. I wanted them to have something to look at besides bare walls and I figured some old advertisements might be appropriate.
As such, I've trolled through old posters to make two packages, one with posters from 1890-1899 and the other with posters from 1900-1909. Some of these are travel-related, others are advertisements for products, and there's even a poster for the Yiddish theater.
I've priced these at 10 simoleons so that they're affordable for vintage sims, but for modern sims, a more realistic price is 1k, or even 2k, as some original posters cost $2000 if you want your own piece of advertising history.
Base Game Compatible.
