The first time that Levi met you, he’d been too rough around the edges, a newly freed man from the underground with one too many health issues and a sickly complexion.
Against his will, Erwin had sent him in for a medical examination, a requirement he’d been forced to endure before officially joining the Survey Corps. It seemed a life with minimal sunlight had lasting effects on the human body. Levi thought that was a reasonable assumption.
He’d suffered through the check-ups, holding his tongue when the doctors prodded at him with invasive hands and told him what nutrients he needed more of. He’d taken their advice, for the most part.
You were still a nurse back then, holding a strong desire to help people and eyes with an innocence that would never last. When the doctor had been running late one evening, you’d come in to check Levi’s pulse, asked if he had any pain.
He’d stared at you for a moment, and for the first time in his life, fumbled for the right words to say.
Trivial things like beauty had never been important to Levi, but your smile had been the only image in his mind for days.
You’d visited him again for another check-up the next day.
And Levi was, really, perfectly fine. He knew there was nothing seriously wrong with him. Though, you had been so eager to do your job, so happy to help a fragmented man, that he let you take care of him for a week and, ridiculously, pretended that he was in much more pain than he actually was.
A hesitant sort of bond started between you after that. You were still intimidated by his brashness, and he was too afraid of his own feelings to ever let himself accept that he found you enjoyable to be around.
Although, whatever he felt ceased to matter after that. Levi officially became a scout, lost the only two people that cared about him, and hardened even more.
Years passed before he saw you again, and by then, you’d become a doctor, saved more patients than you lost, and built a name for yourself.
Levi saw you much more once he became the Captain of the Survey Corps; soldiers on his squad were always getting injured, and he nearly died on a couple missions.
Somewhere along the way, he’d fallen for you. Too quickly and too easily, especially for a man like him who knew better than to care for people.
Still, he figured he was allowed at least one good thing in life, and he’d chosen that to be you. The pretty little doctor who had snuck into his heart.
“Levi?” Hange was in front of him, snapping a hand in front of his eyes, overly concerned and much too close. “Are you losing more blood? You look pale.” She prodded at him, a humored grin spreading across her mouth. “Someone might think you’ve been living underground.”
Hange laughed loudly and Levi pushed them away, irritated, and worn-out from the mission.
“I’m fine,” he said, though his ribs ached, and he couldn’t deny the pain that lingered in his side. “Just get off of me. You smell foul.”
Hange made a face. “Just plug your nose then.” A slender finger poked at his ribs again, and he recoiled, hissing. “See! You’re not okay.”
Levi’s aggravated response went unheard as Hange called a doctor over, waving their hands dramatically. A scowled embedded even deeper into his features.
“I’m fine, shithead. Stop being dramatic.”
Though his protests didn’t matter much. A man in a white coat came by after Hange’s call, adjusting a spectacle as he tucked parchment under his arm. “Is everything alright?”
“Can you please have the captain checked out? He was injured outside the walls, and I’m not sure our first aid did well at stitching him back up.”
The doctor looked over Levi skeptically, peeling back the wrapping around his middle that had already dried brown with blood. “We’ve got a lot of people in need of assistance. I can try and get a nurse to help you, but—”
“Where’s the other doctor?” Levi knew your name, of course he did, but he was afraid if he said it something would change on his face. “The younger one.”
“There are other squads that ended up worse off. She’s taking care of them at the moment.” the gray-haired doctor said, looking at his parchment. “I’ll tell her to make her way over here. I don’t know how long it will be.”
Levi could tell what the man was thinking: that he was Captain Levi, and they could afford to lose the other scouts, but they couldn’t afford to lose him. Still, Levi’s wound had been treated sufficiently. At the very least, he didn’t feel like he would pass out again any time soon.
“I can wait.” Levi looked at the other battered members of the Scouts, some of them with slices up their arms and deep gashes in their skulls. It was a sickening sight really. No one should’ve been worried about him. “These soldiers have worse injuries than I do. You should treat them first.” He glanced at Hange beside him, the glasses making their eyes look even rounder. “And take Hange while you’re at it. Maybe you can find out if there’s a cure for being an idiot.”
The doctor cracked a smile. “Come with me then, Section Commander. You seem to be free of injuries, and we need some help taking care of these soldiers.”
“Of course, sir. I’ll do everything I can.” Hange nodded and stood to follow the doctor. She sent Levi one last look before leaving. “Don’t let your wound get infected because you’re trying to play the hero.”
“I’m fine, Hange. Seriously.” He blinked at her, his expression blank, and Hange sighed before disappearing into the crowd, into the mess of carnage from another fruitless journey outside the walls.
Levi waited for a half hour, watched as more soldiers were led away from the central room into the private wing of the hospital. Someone had cracked a window, and a warm breeze of fresh air fanned into the anteroom.
It was starting to get hot again. He dreaded the summer missions that burned his skin.
The chair was stiff, but he could’ve dozed off in it, suddenly feeling more light-headed than he had when Hange left. Levi shifted, bringing a palm down to his wound. The pain was starting to get worse again. When he drew his hand away, there was more blood.
Shit. That wasn’t a good sign. The stitches mustn’t have been done properly.
He started to stand, beginning to wonder if he should just stitch the wound back up himself, when you finally approached, and the sight of you sent a wave of relief over him. You were like his very own guardian angel, illuminating the hospital with nothing more than a hopeful smile.
Immediately, Levi softened, wondering how you could get more and more beautiful every time he saw you.
“Captain Levi.” Your eyes dropped to the seeping bandage, the shoulder that wasn’t sitting right. He’d dislocated it, twisted a little too funny when slicing up a titan. The tissue there had probably worn down too much. “Don’t tell me you’ve been waiting for me.”
“My injuries are minimal. Thought I’d take my chances until someone competent could stitch me up properly.”
Your jaw clenched, and though you reached your hand out to him, you retracted it, remembering there were other people around. With a sigh, you pointed over your shoulder instead. “Come with me.”
Levi followed you down the hall, to a shimmering white room that smelled too much like flowers. You gathered a few supplies, and he watched you, taking a seat on the bed.
Without a word, you began unwrapping the bloody gauze, cleaning the dark wound with unfazed, sharp eyes. His chest was exposed to you, the shirt already removed.
“At least tell me you missed me before you get me undressed,” Levi said, his tone dry as you pressed a warm cloth to his skin.
You narrowed your eyes, your expression exhausted. He was certain you’d been working nonstop since the Survey Corps got back. “I did miss you, Levi,” you said quietly, wringing the blood out of the cloth. “I always miss you.”
Against his will, Levi’s heart panged in his chest. It was almost too easy for you to get a rise out of him.
You worked in silence, and Levi let you—you’d done this many times for him before, and he knew how much you hated being disturbed.
Though, you looked so sweet with your lip jutted out in focus, and he relaxed, unable to stop himself when he leaned forward to give you a kiss.
To Levi’s disappointment, you saw him coming and pushed him away, placing a bloody hand in front of your mouth to stop him. “Levi!” you shouted in exasperation, though you were far too used to him to be surprised. “I’m not done.”
He sighed, leaning back once more, though the smallest of smiles was on his lips. “I thought you were the best doctor in the interior,” he said mockingly. “Shouldn’t you be a little faster than this?”
“You should work on being more patient. It’s only been a few minutes.”
“Has it?” Levi snorted. It felt like an eternity. You were there in front of him, so lovely and focused, and he could hardly contain himself. He’d spent weeks away from you, and he couldn’t even sneak a quick kiss.
You laughed, the sound stirring up butterflies in his stomach, and he relented, the seriousness in your expression pulling him back to reality. He sat quietly and left you to do your work.
Your hands were soft against his skin as you sealed up the wound, fixed up the stitches, so gentle that he almost forgot about the pain entirely. Having you to watch certainly helped keep him distracted.
Finally, you stepped away, satisfied, and grinned. “Alright. All done.”
“You mean it?” Levi leaned forward, and the ache in his abdomen pinched. “You’re not going to wipe your disgusting palm on my face if I try to kiss you?”
A part of him was, completely serious, but another laugh escaped you as you wiped your hands on a clean rag, the blood still staining your palms. But it was his blood and Levi figured if it had already dirtied his own skin, it didn’t matter much.
He kissed you, momentarily, and the feeling of your lips brought him entirely back to life. Levi wasn’t sure what about you changed him so completely, made him feel a jolt of energy zap into him every time you were around, but he was addicted to it.
He took a breath, for a moment, his expression gentle, though he didn’t have the opportunity to kiss you again. The door had been thrown open, slamming against the wall, and Hange strolled in, wearing a wide smile and bright eyes.
“Levi,” Hange said, much too loudly, and he recoiled, wondering if they’d seen him kiss you. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you.”
Probably not then. Hange would have made that the first topic of conversation.
You smiled politely beside Levi, already placing a professional distance between you. He craved the warmth, missing you again already. “How are you, Hange? I take it you didn’t get too banged up on the mission?”
Hange laughed, throwing an arm over your shoulder like old friends. “Not a single scratch.”
“A miracle, really, with the way you’re always throwing yourself into danger.”
“Oh, don’t be silly. I always play it safe.” Hange turned back to Levi; lips pulled up to reveal a white grin. “I see you’re feeling better then. The doctor got you all patched up?”
“I always do,” you hid a smile behind your hand, careful not to touch it to your mouth.
Levi sighed, hating how well you two got along. He might as well have told Hange about your relationship in the very beginning. You two saw each other every time the Scouts were in the interior wall. “Didn’t you have something to tell me, Hange?”
Hange scrunched her face up, before recognition passed through it. “Right,” they said, straightening. “Erwin’s requested your presence in a meeting with Commander Pyxis and the Military Police. They’ve got a lot of questions.”
“I’m sure they do.” Levi struggled to his feet, feeling much older than he really was. He wondered when all of the hits to his body would start to catch up to him. “I’ll follow you out, then.”
Levi exchanged a look with you, conveying everything he couldn’t with Hange standing there.
“I’ll see you later then, Captain Levi. Hange.” Your smile was refined, corresponding to your current status, and you saluted like a good soldier would. Then, the two of them were off.
Hange tossed a grin over their shoulder once the two of them were outside the hospital, eyes crinkling behind thick lenses. “You look a little flushed there, Captain.”
Levi stared back at Hange indifferently, not an ounce of emotion in his cool eyes. Hange always teased him when it came to you, but he doubted she ever figured out the truth. “Is that so?”
“Why don’t you just confess your love already?” Hange said romantically, batting their eyes and holding clasped hands to her chin. “It’s been years Levi.”
“I’m sure you’re not insinuating I’ve got any sort of romantic feelings,” Levi said dryly. He was certain that he had not been blushing, and he pinched Hange’s cheek too, the pink tint there as well from the warm weather. “It’s not like it’s nearly summer.”
Hange swatted him away, their joyful expression falling as a pout formed on their lips. “Oh, you’re so boring, Levi. I’m only messing with you.”
Levi let out a weary noise, somewhere between a sigh and a groan, wondering how he’d managed to put up with the most insufferable person for years and years on end. “You sound like a teenager.”
Tumblr media
After his mess of a meeting with the military police, Levi headed to one of the nicer homes at the edge of the city, an older building in Wall Sina that had managed to stay intact after the Female Titan incident.
It wasn’t his home, not really, but it was the only one he had outside of the military housing and the single private room he received as a commanding officer. And, it might as well have been his anyway—his clothes all hung in the closet, his teacups stuffed in a crowded cabinet. He was there more than he was anywhere else.
The door opened easily when he pushed the knob, and while he knew you were expecting him, he hoped you didn’t always keep it unlocked. The streets were too wrought with crime; a fact he was far too aware of.
When he opened the door, the scent of home and a freshly made meal invaded his senses, warming him to the very core of his soul. He slid his shoes off at the door, careful not to track in any mud.
You hadn’t heard him come in, too busy cutting up vegetables to throw into a pot. You hummed to yourself softly, distracted entirely by your own thoughts.
Levi smiled, admiring you for just a moment and taking in that second to carry it with him on his next mission. For so much of his life, he’d hardly had a home to come back to. It was nice to remember that he had a person waiting for him on the other side, someone that could be there for him in the moments that he didn’t want to be alone.
He snuck up behind you quietly, and you remained completely unaware until he wrapped his arms around your middle, relaxing into your body in a way he’d never been able to when he was away from you.
You jumped momentarily, but eased into his arms right after, recognizing his touch easily. One of your softer hands wrapped around his, the other still throwing chopped vegetables into the pot.
“I didn’t hear you come in,” yod, and he pressed a gentle kiss to your temple, tranquil.
So much of his time had been spent in a world that was a living hell, trying to deal with the overarching mess that had started years ago, and being with you was the only time he could ever recover. The knowledge that he didn’t have to always be humanity’s strongest soldier with you gave him, at least, some semblance of peace.
“I hope I didn’t scare you,” he whispered, hooking his chin over your shoulder as he looked at the stew you were making. It was the best thing he had smelled in weeks, and Levi felt too spoiled after a childhood spent eating mud and garbage from the streets. “You could’ve waited for me to get home. I would’ve cooked something instead. I know you’ve been working all day, taking care of the Scouts.”
“Levi.” You pressed a kiss to the back of his hand, smiling into the delicate skin. “You’ve been gone for weeks. You probably haven’t had a proper meal since you left, and you were injured. I don’t want you to strain yourself.” You turned to face him, wrapping your arms around his neck. “I’m glad you’re home. You can get some rest now.”
You pressed a kissed to his nose, and no matter how many times you referred to your home as his as well, a fiery warmth bloomed inside of him.
“Me too.” Levi smiled at you tiredly, brushing his thumb over your lips before retracting. “I’m going to get cleaned up. I’ll be back in a bit.”
“I’ll tell you when the food is ready.”
Levi nodded, and released you hesitantly, already wanting to be around you for every moment he had in Wall Sina. Instead, he headed towards the bathroom, where he knew the soap that he preferred would be waiting for him, just as he’d left it before.
“Levi?”
He turned at the sound of your voice. You were watching him with hearts in your eyes, the very expression something he would probably never been accustomed to.
“I love you.”
Levi softened, his feet melting into the floor entirely. “I love you too.”
Your face grew so bright, and you turned back to your task, newly invigorated. Levi had gotten better at saying the words, at accepting that you wouldn’t get taken away from him just because he cared about you.
It had been a long road, certainly, but somewhere along the way he’d started to become familiar with happiness.
Tumblr media
“Levi, what do you think of this one?” You spun in a slow circle, making sure that he saw every angle of the dress. You were watching him with a skeptical look, suspecting that he wouldn’t be honest with you.
Which was maybe true. Levi didn’t know very much about what was in style. He just thought you looked nice in everything.
“It’s pretty,” he said, indulging you with a nod. “You look very pretty.”
Despite yourself, you grew warm, smiling at yet another compliment from him. He’d said the same thing about every dress, but he loved seeing the expression on your face, the twitch of embarrassment, even though you’d been together for years.
It was rare that the two of you got to do something so calming. You were meant to go to a ball in the upcoming weeks, gain some kind of recognition for your accomplishments as a doctor, and you were in desperate need something to wear.
Of course, you’d decided the moment that Levi was home would be the perfect time to go shopping.
Though, it didn’t matter. He would’ve gone with you anyway, even if you needed an outfit or not. Levi was just so incredibly proud of you. A part of him wished he could accompany you to the ball, even if being in a stuffy room with a crowd of pretentious, wealthy men sounded like the most undesirable event in the world.
“Well, which makes me seem like I know what I’m doing?” you asked him through the mirror, the tailor doing her best not to intrude on the conversation. “I like the blue one, but do I look too young?”
“Well, you’re not old,” Levi scoffed. “Besides, I hardly think you need new a dress to let people know you’re a professional.” Though, he mulled over the question regardless, mostly taking your inquiry seriously. You were making a face at him. “I like the blue one too.”
He liked them all, really.
You smiled, letting the tailor finish up her job and Levi turned, wondering how much of a dent this would put in his wallet.
“I’ll just be a second,” you said, leaning down from your stool to kiss him. His lips curled up when they met yours. “Want to wait outside?”
“Sure.” Levi turned, and for a moment, swore he saw a flash outside, someone speeding past the window. When he looked closer, no one was there.
He ignored it, leaving a wad of cash with the store-owned and tried to remember that he no longer needed to save that money for another meal.
As he waited for you to finish up, Levi leaned against the wall, watching the people walk back and forth, paying him no attention at all. It was sometimes easy to forget that not everyone recognized him. Not everyone cared, really, that he was Captain Levi.
It was refreshing to be ignored.
“Levi,” you said wearily as you came out of the short building, and he knew what was coming next, knew what words would leave your mouth. “I told you I’d take care of it.”
“Consider it paying back a favor.” He fell into step beside you as you turned the corner, going down the narrow alley.
You creased your eyebrows skeptically, trying to catch his eyes. The ones that had brightened minimally after a night of rest in an actual bed. “A favor for what?”
“I don’t know. Letting me live in your house? For cooking for me last night?” Your frown deepened, exasperated and Levi sighed, rolling his eyes. “Just accept the gift, you idiot. I was trying to do something nice.”
You gazed at him in disbelief for another moment before laughing, the seriousness evaporating. “You’re so sweet.” You grinned, and Levi thought that was hardly the word to describe him, but you seemed so happy that he didn’t say anything. “I appreciate it a lot. Thank you.”
“Come on,” Levi said, huffing when you tried to kiss him again. “We should go back home before I run into one of those intolerable brats from my squad.”
Though, Levi really regretted the words, wondering if there was some higher being out there who just lived to cause him grief. Not a moment later, he heard a familiar voice rounding the corner, getting much too close to where he was standing.
“Armin, look! I told you. I saw him with someone.”
Levi’s jaw tightened as Eren sprinted down the alley with his smarter blond friend in tow, and a dark-haired girl who never seemed to leave his side.
The three of them nearly ran into the two of you, skidding to a stop only when they noticed you both turning the corner, and gauged the unamused expression on Levi’s face.
“What are you two doing here? Don’t you have training or something?” Levi’s voice was stern, though he knew they had the day off, just as he did. Just as you did.
“Captain Levi!” Armin straightened, looking nervous under his tense gaze. Levi wondered what it would take for that kid to gain some confidence. “Sorry, we didn’t mean to intrude. Eren just said—”
“Eren said—” Eren began, but before he could continue, Hange had also come around the corner with Erwin, the two of them laughing like they’d found something very funny.
Levi wished he had his gear so he could start swinging the blades at all of them.
“Levi,” Erwin greeted him good-naturedly, and Hange was snickering beside him, their eyes glued to the minimal space between you and him. “Eren said there was an emergency this way. What seems to be the issue?”
That little shit. Levi could’ve kicked the stupid grin right off his face again.
“Did he?” Levi said, swallowing down his anger, his expression as nonchalant as usual. “I’ve got no idea what he could possibly be talking about.”
“Eren said you two were kissing.” Mikasa spared no time for idle conversation, her eyes as hard as his own as she made the comment in a bored tone. If Levi had to guess, she’d been pulled into the situation because Eren had caught them and couldn’t keep his nose out of other people’s business.
And Hange, who had never been very good at holding back laughter, doubled over with tears gathering at the corners of their eyes.
“Oh,” you said beside him, embarrassed, and Levi softened, remembering that even though he’d kept the relationship a secret for your own safety, there really had never been a need to. You were never going to leave his life, not if he could help it, and he trusted the five people before him enough to keep it from becoming public knowledge. “I’m sorry,” you whispered to him, momentarily panicked. “That was my fault.”
Levi hated the look on your face; he never wanted you to look so disheartened again. He sighed. “Eren, you should learn to keep your mouth shut.”
At least, Eren had the good sense to sober up. His back became rigid, any humor disappearing from his face immediately. “Right, sir, I’m sorry. I just thought—”
“I’ve got the day off like the rest of you, don’t I? Maybe you should let us spend it in peace.” Levi boldly grabbed your hand, walking through the middle of the starstruck crowd, knowing he’d have to deal with their endless questions sooner than later.
For now, though, he just wanted a relaxing day with you by his side.
“Levi, wait! Why didn’t you tell me?” Hange’s dramatic cries rang out through the air as he glared at them over his shoulder, eyes narrowing so intensely it almost hurt.
Behind him, Eren’s cry of pain could be heard after Mikasa slapped him over the head. “Eren! I told you that was a bad idea.”
“Bye!” you said sweetly, like nothing had happened, and continued along with your hand in Levi’s, a stupid smile on your face.
When you were far enough away from lingering ears, Levi looked over to you, shaking his head. “Why do you look so happy?” he asked, exasperated, and ready to go home.
You shrugged. “I like that someone else knows that I love you.”
And though Levi would still push Eren twice as hard at the next training, he couldn’t be too mad at him after that.

Black Widow
Tumblr media
Summary: As you come to terms with the death of your husband, you reminisce about the night you had shared with the captain of the Survey Corps, your husband's right-hand man, Levi Ackerman. Word Count: ~1.3k CW: Cheating, smut, canon major character death (*so spoilers*)
Tumblr media
You had felt Erwin’s absence even long before his death.
You hadn’t married necessarily out of love; you hadn’t married for convenience either. Back when Erwin was courting you, you held hope that you’d fall in love with him, just like all the newlywedded wives of the romance books that had littered your room. Instead, as the months passed, whatever illusion you had of ever falling in love with Erwin, as well as Erwin’s efforts and respect for your relationship, had fizzled out.
His side of the bed would remain cold for weeks. When he would finally come home, he made it a point to sleep anywhere but with you, mostly spending nights at his private office rather than your shared bedroom. Erwin had been the only man you had ever been with, and the fact that he refused to touch you – no, he was appalled to touch you – felt like a cruel punishment.
This, and the constant pressures of the people around you asking why you hadn’t gotten pregnant yet had made you miserable. You longed for your husband to spare you a minute of his time, a caress, a longing look, anything. You had your duties to fulfill as his wife, a duty to become a mother, but he seemed more preoccupied with his duties as the commander of the Survey Corps. What was once an admiral trait of his, had now become the bane of your existence.
With no other recourse for a married woman like you, you quelled the fire burning inside you – as well as the fire between your legs - and smiled by your husband’s side, smiled at the onlookers during special events, smiled at the politicians during your visits to Wall Sina. You suppressed the need it for as long as you could, you swallowed it in gulps to keep it down, until one day you broke. You unabashedly and uncarefully shattered into pieces.
Here, with the black veil over your face, you wished you could cry more meaningfully, you wished that you could break out in sobs and beg them not to take your husband’s lifeless body away. But as a matter of fact, you just simply couldn’t. Of course, the tears flowed, but what you felt more than anything was relief, relief that you felt wash over you. You could feel it from the top of your head to the tips of your toes, coursing through your veins and through your being.
You could feel it washing you free from your sins – because indeed you were a sinner.
Many high ranked soldiers and officials were there offering you condolences, but their insignificant faces blended into the crowd around you. There was only one particular person you wanted to see, your face scanning the crowd and quickly finding him. The one who was there to collect the pieces of you and try to put you back together. Him.
Levi Ackerman. Captain Levi Ackerman. The man that had made you the sinner you were.
Your husband’s confidante and right-hand man.
It had only been a couple of days since you last saw him and yet it felt like it was only last night that he had awoke the fire that hid inside your skin, a fire that he had extinguished, leaving a devilish need in its wake.
“Captain Levi,” you uttered out. You were met with his steely blue-grey eyes, the same ones that had looked at you with such worship that night. Right now though, they bore the dutiful look they always carried; you didn’t know whether to admire them or want to break them. Again. You considered the latter.
He addressed you with a slight bow of his head, his name falling from your lips, so plainly yet it felt like years since you last heard his voice.
“I’m sorry about Erwin,” he responded. You thanked him for his apology but shook your head. There was no need to be sorry.
There truly was no need to be sorry. Levi knew this. He knew it very well.
He knew this ever since that night he had come to your home. Levi had known your relationship with Erwin was strained. Erwin didn’t talk about it, but what kind of husband left their wife for weeks without a single message or letter?Especially when the wife in question was as beautiful as you were?
So, when it had been time to prepare to take back Wall Maria and Erwin had made no motion to notify you, Levi made it his responsibility to make sure you were well-informed. For a brief moment, he observed how your eyes shifted at the news; he thought you’d break down crying. Instead, the next moment you had given Levi a small smile. He hadn’t counted on you being so accepting of it, so undisturbed by it; both you and Erwin were the most estranged couple he had ever known…or maybe this was simply the result of an absent husband and a wife that had long ago surrendered the idea of a happy ending.
He was about to leave when your sweet voice calling out his name had stopped him.
“Don’t leave yet, come and accompany me for dinner.”
Your seductive voice had fallen out of practice, but you could see it had done its job when a light dust of pink had decorated Levi’s face. It was the same dust of pink that showed up during your infrequent visits to the Survey Corps headquarters, when you would visit Erwin and you’d bump into Levi.
How long had Levi wanted you in silence? How long had he wished it was him that courted you and not Erwin?
It hadn’t taken long for Levi to crack, succumbing to your seduction.
It was a blissful sin to feel him rutting against you. Levi had kissed every inch of your skin, from your fingers that scraped against his undercut, to your heavenly legs that parted for him. Seeing his face contort in pleasure above you was the most ethereal experience you could have asked for, but nothing beat the look he gave you as he had pushed himself inside you. The look that followed was just as divine, withdrawing fully to enter you fully once again.
The sounds he had emitted, the words he had uttered, the way he had gripped your hips as he thrusted into you, all of this moved you. All of this had caused you to moan Levi’s name so wantonly, so unrestrained, edging you to your high much faster than Erwin could have ever done. And when Levi’s climax had threatened to usher through him, all you could think of was how you wanted your womb to be filled, how you just wanted to fulfill your primitive desires, whether that be through your husband or through his most trusted soldier. Levi had carelessly obliged, burying his head into the crook of your neck, pumping into you erratically as he came.
That night, you had defiled Levi and he had defiled you.
There really was no need to be sorry. Because you felt anything but.
Captain Levi avoided your gaze as your stare lingered on him for too long. He knew you were thinking about that night. The look you were giving him was the same one you had given him then, but this time around he refused to give in. He already felt bad enough that he had given into the want of lying with you, he didn’t want to feel bad about wanting you again – and at his commander’s funeral no less. You could see the tension in his eyes, but you only offered a small smile.
No matter, you’d just have to invite him for dinner again.

Another day, another meeting.
Levi sighed. As much as he prioritized the safety and well being of the Corps, these weekly meetings were growing tiring. Not to mention, time consuming. How many reports he could finish within this time, how many cups of tea could have been made....Yet here they were, once more going over old information with nothing new to show for their endeavors.
"...And so I should ask of you all once more; Does anyone have anything to add?" Commander Erwin finished from the head of the mahogany table they all sat around.
After a moment of murmuring amongst the group, Y/N, a fellow captain in the corps, leaned forward and raised a hand confidently.
Erwin nodded to her, allowing her to proceed.
"Pardon me if I misunderstood, but if I understand correctly, you mean to set four squads into two teams to scout the southern section of the forrest five hundred meters south of Shiganshina?" Y/N spoke slowly.
"That would be correct, Captain Y/N." Erwin confirmed.
"If I may suggest, shouldn't we have each separate squad enter both north and south of the forrest to track the titan's numbers and movements more efficiently? I understand spreading our numbers so thin is a risk within itself, but if this is merely an observation expedition, I should think we would need as many eyes in as many places as possible to calculate the titan's activity more accurately. We have flare signal guns and acoustic rounds; we can easily alert nearby teams to imminent dangers." Y/N spoke quicker as the excitement of her own idea spurred her on as she voiced her thoughts.
For a moment, the room was silent as everyone absorbed her words. Levi was left speechless at her revelation, though his mask of indifference remained.
Why didn't I think of that? He wondered.
Immediately, his respect and awe for her increased. Though, if he were honest with himself, he wasn't sure how she could continue to surprise him so. After all these years working alongside her team out in the wilderness, her cleverness never ceased to amaze Levi.
Finally, Erwin stood, his deep blue eyes trained souly on Y/N.
"Y/N....I think you may be onto something here. Keeping my men alive is, of course, one of my first concerns. But your strategy seems to be the more logical one. I think we should bring this to the attention of our comrades in Rose and Sina for further verification, but you have my respect and admiration for such cleverness." Erwin smiled brightly at the younger Captain.
Y/N's eyes grew large at her Commander's words, which seemed to irk Levi slightly. Though he agreed full heartedly with Erwin's words, he couldn't help but feel aggravated with the man's presentation of his admiration.
"So, you're telling me, we've spent weeks in here plotting our next expedition, when we could have asked Y/N for the perfect solution from the very beginning?" Captain Mike chuckled in disbelief from across the table from where Levi sat.
"Y/N, you could have saved us hours of time with this!"
Y/N blushed in embarrassment.
"Well, I've been thinking about this event ever since our first meeting a couple weeks ago, and this morning it finally clicked in my head, so I thought I'd share it," she modestly admitted.
"Are you kidding? Y/N, that's genius!" Hange also stood and reached over the table to grab at Y/N's shoulders. "Erwin, I think if she wanted to, she could replace you!"
Levi unconsciously shot Erwin, Mike, and Hange a scowl, to which none of them noticed with their attention trained on Y/N. He himself wanted to say such kind words to her, for reasons he couldn't quite understand yet, but he lacked the vocabulary to convey such thoughts to her. Much less in a crowded room.
"Alright, I think this meeting is adjourned! This is the most progress we've had in awhile, so it's safe to say we can all take a break." Erwin chuckled, much to Levi's relief.
Finally.
Levi, Y/N, and Mike stood from their seats and joined Hange in saluting Erwin, of which he returned. Everyone began to file out of the room in a line; with Erwin, Levi and Y/N near the back.
With the other's attention trained on leaving to room to go about their days, Levi made up his mind that he would take this opportunity to congratulate Y/N on her brilliance like the others had. But the moment he subtly gained her attention and opened his mouth to speak, Erwin approached them both and placed a sturdy hand onto the woman's shoulder.
"Y/N, would you mind taking a moment to sign your signature onto a form I must send to Commander Pyxis in regards to this meeting? Keeping him informed on our movements is one of my requirements. And since this was your idea, I want you to have the honors of taking the credit."
Erwin smiled brightly down at the younger Captain.
"But, sir, are you sure?" She asked breathlessly.
"Of course, Y/N. I value you, and as such, I want you to take the credit for your own genius; as Hange put it." Erwin reassured.
Levi shot a look up towards Erwin, but the Commander didn't seem to notice. With a scoff, Levi made for the door.
As much as he wanted to speak with Y/N, he knew it was pointless to try now. He would simply have to wait.
As he left, he heard the sweet sound of Y/N's laughter as she agreed and thanked the Commander when he handed her a form sheet.
Though he hadn't meant to, Levi closed the door behind him with a bang.
Slightly embarrassed and confused by his behavior, he clicked his tongue and made for his own office to finish his unattended work. Perhaps this would distract him from the odd pinging feelings in his heart…
…Pining?
═══════════
Around two hours later, Levi was finished. With nothing else left to do, he stood from his desk and stretched. Before he could even make up his mind as to what he should do now, he heard voices outside his closed office door.
Y/N? He immediately wondered.
Briskly walking to his door, he flung it open and darted his eyes back and forth up and down the hall. And indeed, there she stood.
Y/N and one of the cadets in her squad walked side by side down the hall, engaged in some sort of chit chat.
Combing his hair back with a hand and straightening his uniform, Levi left the safety of his office and closed his door behind him.
Maybe now, he could congratulate her.
Thinking about this, he couldn't help but scoff.
He'd never thought this hard about praising someone for their work before. Actually, as he thought about it, he'd never congratulated anyone on their work before.
What does this mean? He wondered.
When Y/N's eyes met his, she suddenly faltered in her step and stopped mid sentence. She awkwardly waved to him, and quickly averted her gaze. When he awkwardly waved back, not knowing how else to react, she quickly sent the cadet on their way and approached Levi.
Once in front of him, she stammered for the right words to say.
"Good afternoon, Levi," she smiled.
"Afternoon," Levi struggled to reply, a sudden knot forming in his throat.
Get it together, Levi…
As Y/N opened her mouth to speak, Levi also spoke.
"So, I-"
"You did well."
They simultaneously paused to understand what the other had said, both taken aback.
"I-I'm sorry, you first, sir." Y/N stammered out after a moment.
"Uhh..." Levi felt his face grow hot, which both embarrassed and aggravated him. He cleared his throat and attempted to start over.
"I...apologize. Please, you first."
"Oh!…Well, I was just on my way to see you, actually," Y/N admitted, unconsciously turning her face away.
Levi suddenly forgot all he had planned to say to her, instead just settling to watch her as she awkwardly looked at anything but his face. Suddenly he felt overwhelmed by her presence and wasn't sure how to react. But after a moment, he composed himself and decided how he wanted to continue from here.
"I'm glad you were. I'd like a word with you, if you have the time to spare," he finally managed.
Y/N's eyes lit up, but before she could respond, a loud screech followed by the thudding of footsteps filled the corridor around them.
"Y/N!!"
Both Levi and Y/N turned sharply towards the noise, only to see Hange running full speed up the hall their way towards them.
Levi couldn't believe his luck today. First Erwin, now Hange? He folded his arms across his chest and stared Hange down as they finally came to a stop, yet they didn't seem to take any notice. Instead, they ran directly towards Y/N and came to a stop less then two feet from the poor girl's face.
"Y/N, you have to help me!" They blurted.
"Hange? What's wrong?"
Y/N was immediately distracted.
"You see....My poor test subject broke free of his restraints during testing...I could use some help subduing him?" Hange gave Y/N their best pleading look, which seems to do the trick. Sadly.
"Okay, okay, I'll be right there! Levi just needs a word with me first..." Y/N turned to look at Levi with a hopeful smile, but the man couldn't help but sigh.
"Go, this is obviously more important than a few words," he scoffed.
A slightly hurt look flashed through Y/N eyes before Hange grabbed her by the arm.
"Thanks shorty, I'll bring her back!"
With that hasty promise, Hange soon disappeared with Y/N in tow.
Once again, Levi stood alone.
"Damn them," Levi cursed under his breath as he wandered off from his office to find something else to distract his mind from her with.
═══════════
At this point, the sun was beginning to set below the horizon. The halls were near silent and completely empty. The only movement to be seen was the flickering of candle light produced from lanterns in the halls, covering the stone walls and floors in unique shapes and patterns.
Once more, Levi sat at his desk; a mug of warm tea in one hand and an ink quill in the other. Yet he had nothing to write, despite the many words that swam around in his head.
"Shitty brain....shitty feelings," he muttered to himself. Still, he couldn't figure out these strange sensations plaguing his mind and heart, despite the three years he'd spent trying.
Just then, a quiet knock sounded at his door. Barely lifting his head to investigate, he grumbled out a quick 'come in'.
The door opened, and light footsteps made their way over towards his desk. Still he didn't look up, already fed up with his day.
That was, until the person cleared their throat nervously.
Whipping his head up, he met the gaze of a rather sheepish looking Y/N.
"Hey, I uhh, finished helping Hange," she grinned. Upon seeing her smile, Levi couldn't help but return a small one of his own, though to most it appeared as more of a grimace than a gesture of relief.
Y/N took a seat opposite him at his desk, and so began their little chat.
A little chat turned into an interesting conversation. A conversation led into a lengthy discussion, which in turn led to their opening up to one another. Neither of them paid any attention to the passage of time, which flew by them in what felt like the blink of an eye.
And at lost last, he finally found his moment to compliment the enchanting woman sitting across from him, in his own way.
Finally.

Armin Alert had the same suspicions about Annie Leonhardt as you did. Erwin couldn't ignore that: two of his soldiers, one more intelligent than the other, were accusing one of their comrades. This, and the fact that he believes in your unusual talent, has made Erwin Smith, 13th Commander of the Survey Corps, decide to plan the Assault on Stohess. The other problem is the cadets of the 104th Division. If it turns out that Cadet Leonhardt is indeed the traitor, there is a good chance that at least two other cadets are as well. Which is why he sent them to wall Rose under the supervision of none other than Section Commander Mike Zacharias. Not just to watch them, but to watch you too. Erwin wouldn't say it out loud, but he thinks you're suspicious. While he doesn't think you're lying about your memory loss and visions, after what happened to you on the expedition it would be idiotic not to.
Sure, the signs point to you being from wall Maria, maybe Shiganshina, but what if those were other visions of yours? He has reasons to believe you're not from here, it's the way you talk about certain things, like the ocean. Not many have heard of it, it's an unspoken concept that few seem to know about. Like his own father. In the end, it was that knowledge that killed him. He overheard you talking about it once with the Arlert boy, and while the Cadet's eyes were bright with hope, yours were filled with knowledge. You knew it existed, you saw it, and you don't remember it. He has more reason to believe you are from outside the walls. He remembers it clearly, it was the first time the two of you spoke, and he felt a little strange about that particular phrase at the time. "What if I'm from outside your walls?" He had soldiers with memory loss, but none of them would go so far as to lose that kind of memory. Another thing that made even Mike question you was when you said "I think I left school when I was 14". If you really were from wall Maria, there was no way you could have stayed in school until you were 14. The maximum age is 12, only kids from Sina have the luxury of staying longer. And you can't be from Sina, because if you were, someone would have reported you missing. The only others who know his thoughts are Levi, Hange and Mike, which is why he placed you in one of their squads.
He knows that using Mike to bait you is technically considered unethical, but Erwin has the greater good in the picture and if that included exploiting you for humanity to gain freedom he wouldn't care. It's as simple as that. Plus, he feels better about the fact that Mike does have an affection for you and has taken a liking to your gentle nature. Gentle not in the way you talk, you certainly speak your mind when needed, but rather how you treat yourself and others. Or the way you took care of your gear and uniform. He's surprised that Levi hasn't noticed your love for perfection, perhaps his dislike for you has blinded his sharp senses, or so he likes to believe. Erwin looks from the window of the office to Levi, their eyes meeting in the middle. The Commander can't help but to wonder if Levi truly feels nothing but disdain for you, he has seen the way his Captain looked at you, full of longing and obsession.
"What is it?" Levi asks, his arms crossed defensively, and his eyebrows raised.
"Faye told me the outcome of today's events. We're going to capture the female titan." He finally says, revealing a piece of information he hasn't shared with anyone yet.
"So that's why you were so positive." Levi looks at him with a bit of mockery, his lips curled into a tight smile.
"I know you like to gamble, but taking such a big risk just because the girl you fancy has dreamed of it is ridiculous." Erwin winces at the harsh words and gives his comrade a hard look.
"I don't fancy her." Erwin explains in a gruff voice as he frowns at the accusation.
"But Mike does. Would you turn a blind eye if I took a cadet as a plaything for myself?" Levi asks provocatively, something in his eyes glimmering with a hint of jealousy. Erwin tries to keep his composure, smiling instead of frowning at the question.
"Why? Are you interested in someone in particular?" He asks, a dark glint in his blue eyes as he sees Levi look away, ashamed, even uncomfortable.
"Tch. Don't be ridiculous." He spits in disgust, as if it wasn't natural for a human to want the affection and love of another. The conversation ends there, leaving Levi deep in thought. "Is there someone out there?" he wonders as he leaves the office, groaning in pain as he takes another step.
You giggle as Mike pulls you through the empty corridors, a grin on his own face. You've been in the small HQ outpost for two days and it's been nothing but boring. At least you had a chance to meet up with your reunited comrades from the trainee corps and chat with them about what has happened so far. Reiner, who's been most interested in your visions, has been asking you about them incessantly; you thought it was because he's afraid of a possible tragic outcome. Your Section Commander also felt a bit bored, although they all deserved a break after the expedition, and if observing them was the only condition for that, then so be it.
"But Section Commander, we-" you cry as he pulls you into his chest, hugging you against him as he leans his body against the wall.
"Quiet. You don't want them to hear us, do you?" He tilts his head, looking down at you with a mocking smile.
"No. But..." he doesn't let you finish, taking your chin between his fingers and pulls you into a heated kiss, his eyes closed while yours are still open in surprise, though you quickly melt into his touch, enjoying the intimate moment. He turns his body, changing the position to suit him as your back is pressed against the wall, his hips hungrily grinding down your torso with ease. The way Mike's lips leave yours, only to plant themselves on your neck seconds later, makes you shiver, a hot sensation consuming your stomach as you respond with a breathless sound. You are so lost in the moment of pleasure that you almost forget the whole situation. This scenario is strangely familiar, but not in a good way. "Has Mike ever touched me like this before?" You ask yourself, a frown slowly taking over your features as your senses begin to pull you back. 'Was it one of my dreams? The amusement quickly fades as a sickening realization rips you completely out of the moment and makes you push your Section Commander away.
Mike Zacharias opens his eyes in a drunken haze as he notices your frightened expression.
"Are you okay?" He asks worriedly, wondering if he has overstepped your boundaries without realizing it. But something about your expression has him in a stranglehold. The way your eyes fill with tears frightens him a little too, as he takes a step back, his heart aching at the sight of you.
"Titans." Is the only thing that leaves your lips, making him raise an eyebrow.
"Titans?" Zacharias repeats, confused as to why you thought of them now. He's patient, but still a little worried, there must be something wrong, maybe another vision.
"They will breach the walls." You both know it's true, he's learnt to trust your visions by now, that's why he pulls himself together so quickly, his face darkening at the information.
"When?" Your Section Commander demands to know, ready to die if necessary.
"Any time. But Mike..." You try to grab his hand as he turns to leave, feeling it slip from your fingers. It's almost as if his life is passing through them and you can't stop it, can't do anything about it.
"No wait..." Running after him is almost impossible, his long legs carrying him through the corridors leading up to the Watchtower. This time I'll be faster than fate,' you promise yourself, running up the stairs after him. This time I'll outrun it.
Running up the stairs, you finally catch up with him, his eyes staring into the distance as if trying to make out the shape of something. The wind blows around them as he smells it, the glare deepening.
"What is it, Mike?" Nanaba asks, curious at the sudden appearance of her Section Commander.
"Thomas, ride out of here. Take three couriers and Faye with you. Inform the districts, Wall Rose has been breached." Nanaba gasps and looks at Faye with a mixture of shock and disbelief, clearly suspecting her visions.
"The chances of Titans hiding in the 104th Cadet Corps are slim." He mumbles, clenching his hand into a fist as he turns his head towards you and stares at you in despair.
"Go with Thomas. It's not safe here." Mike's voice is harsh as he pushes you and stares at you, making you take a cautious step down.
"Mike, no, you'll get away if I don't..." He cringes as he takes your shoulders and looks down at you.
"And so will you if you stay here." His voice is hushed as his bullets move from you to your comrade.
"Take her to Erwin, guard her with your life." Thomas salutes, taking you by the wrist as he leads you to the fly, tears running down her cheeks as she catches her breath.
"Please Thomas, Mike will die if you don't let me help him." You plead with the older soldier, trying to pull your wrist from his tight grip. He stops for a second, his eyes fixed straight ahead.
"No. I have orders." He breathes, a stressed expression on his face as you both reach the stable. Even the horses seem troubled, as if they feel the presence of death approaching. You understand why Thomas is afraid, but you don't blame him. Perhaps you could trick him and turn back before he notices. You put the brown leather saddle on your horses' backs and quickly lead them out of the stable, following your comrade.
"Stay calm, Sonne." You say, stroking her white hair, hoping to calm her a little. On your first expedition, Sonne was accidentally hit by a smoke grenade. That encounter must have frightened your horse a little, seeing how she reacts to the Titans in the distance.
As you leave the wooden stables, your comrades and friends from the 104th enter, and you can see from their faces that they must have been informed of the breach.
"Faye!" Sasha cries, running to grab your shoulder and shake you.
"Please tell me I'm not going to die!" Her voice is loud and obviously frightened, her brown eyes wide as she tightens her grip. You smile reassuringly, pretty sure you haven't seen her die before.
"No, don't worry -" the next person to barricade you is Connie, pulling on your arm in panic.
"What about me?" You'd like to answer all these questions, but now is not the time. It takes both Reiner and Thomas to free you from their grasp, an overwhelming feeling in your gut at the whole situation.

"Good luck, guys." You wave after them and hop onto Sonne's back, relying on Thomas to lead the way. It would take the two of you 12 hours to get to Stohess District, and considering you have to inform all the other districts on the way, it would probably take another hour. You'll arrive late in the evening, by which time the assault on said district will be over and Erwin will most likely face the consequences. You have to be quick; you know. But when you turn your head, you see the first abnormal titans arriving, the cadets fleeing from them while Mike distracts them. Your heart sank and you glanced at Thomas, concentrating as he rode forward, not daring to look back. The flash of images of a torn Mike makes you jump and in a heartbeat, you decide to turn around and order Sonne towards the scout outpost. Thomas notices and curses under his breath, cursing you but not following you; the lives and fates of thousands of people. As a soldier, it's his duty to weigh up whose soul is most worth saving, and for Thomas, yours or Mike's isn't worth as much as half the population, you understand.
On your way to help your Section Commander, you notice a particular Titan, one that looks like an ape, covered in brown fur. He's lanky and tall, with long arms and a bored expression. You've seen this one before in your dreams, and he's definitely not good news. He's intelligent, you know that much, but what you're not so sure about is his role in this whole ordeal, you've seen the human inside this monster, a man with blond hair and a beard, tall and arrogant. You didn't expect him to be here so soon, which surprises you a little and makes you wonder how quickly your other visions will come true. You look away from him to see a horse riding in Mike's direction, still standing on the roof, oblivious to you, his eyes fixed on the beast like a titan, worried by its sudden appearance. It's as if it had appeared out of nowhere. Noticing the Titan's long arm reaching for Mike's horse, a surprised yelp escapes your lips and you urge Sonne to ride faster.
The next thing happening is over in mere seconds, but to you it feels like an eternity. Mike's horse is lifted by the beast and thrown onto the roof, where he stands with a shocked expression on his face, his body frozen in surprise. He pulls his blade from his belt and screams something you can't make out. All you can see is his now dead horse flying in his direction, blood splattering like rain all over you. The stallion's corpse hits Mike, causing him to fall from the roof straight onto the ugly, small creature below him. You scream and grab the controls of your own gear, standing up slightly in your saddle, aiming the anchors at the house where your Section Commander and lover was standing a moment ago and swinging from Sonne, pulling your wielded blade from its sheaths to aim at the titan's neck. Mike's painful screams mingle with yours as the crippled titan bites down, breaking skin and bone.
Before you can reach it and kill it, something pulls you back by the wires of your equipment, causing you to lose control of the ODM. Wiggling in the air, you scream as you spin around to see the ape visaged titan kneeling, your wires squeezed between his fingers as he looks down at you as if you're nothing more than an insect. Adrenaline shoots through your body as you try to break free, but it's no use. Another painful scream draws your attention away from your hopeless situation and your tearful eyes land on the one man who tried to protect you.
"Mike!" You whimper as the titan bites down once more.
"They must not have heard me." At first, you don't quite understand where that strange, deep voice is coming from, but as you look carefully at the intelligent Titan, you realize that he is indeed the one speaking.
"I told you to wait." With that, he grabs the titan's abnormally large head and squeezes it with the simple pressure of his fingers. One of its eyes pops out of its socket and you feel a sickening sensation in your gut at the sight. Mike falls to the ground, legs limp as he holds his lower, bleeding abdomen. The beastly titan begins to playfully bounce you up and down on the string, which does nothing to alleviate your nausea.
"May I ask what you call your strange weapon?" You swallow and meet his eyes. While yours are tearful and filled with fear, his yellowish ones hold nothing but mockery.
"That thing at your waist that allows you to fly." He continues to explain his question.
"What the fuck?" You yell, staring at him in disbelief, as if he didn't just comment on the fact that the titan threw a fucking horse at Mike and left you hanging like a literal bug.
"That's not nice of you..." He speaks, adding a name that sounds familiar and yet so strange at the same time. Your eyes widen as you stare at him in surprise.
“That's not my name.” You blur out almost automatically, making the titan races a furry brow.
“Is it not? Well I figured you wouldn't remember it. Afterall, you did this to yourself, little dove.” Confused, you frown, wondering what he meant by that.
“That's right. You have no memories of that day.” He mocks and lays his attention back on Mike, expression unfazed at the shocked state he is in.
“I noticed you also use swords. Fascinating. Must mean you know that we reside in the nape. Did you tell them that?” The beast questions you, giving you a hard glare, like you are a traitor of some sort.
“I suppose I'll just take it back with me.” Declaring his decision, the titan reaches for Mike to take his damaged ODM from his hips, making humanity's second strongest soldier cower in fear.
“Please don't kill him.” You beg and yelp as he moves you over to the outposts roof, placing you on top of it. While you wiggle yourself free again and give him an desperate look, you take notice of Mike slowly standing up, blade in hand and furious expression plastered over his bruised face.
“You leave my Faye alone!” He screams out and points the blade at him in a demanding way. The ape looks surprised at the sudden will to fight.
“Faye? That's ironic. Tell me do you love that man?” Your eyes widen at the question, and you look from him to the soldier, nothing but pleading desire to save him in your heart.
“Yes.” You confess, your teary eyes never leaving Mike's.
“Hm. Then you leave me no choice.”
Feeling your heart stop beating, your eyes widen as four titans, that have been standing still like bystanders, start moving again, running towards Mike in a rush for blood lust. You are helplessly watching as the beast titan leaves, while his mindless puppets start ripping and biting at various parts of your Section Commander's body. Frozen in fear, soundless cries and pleads leave your lips and you close your eyes, not able to watch the gruesome death of your loved one. Your own ODM uselessly tangles around your legs, and you lean forward, covering your ears. Mike's screams are torture, a mixture of pain, fear and the realization of being completely powerless.
At some point his agonizing cries stopped and the last thing you hear is flesh being torn apart and bones being cracked in multiple pieces. Numb from pain, you turn around and await the titan’s presence closing in on you. Farley sure that the same fate will hit you, you let your eyes closed in hopes to ignore the death looming over you. A shiver runs down your spine as you make out movement behind you. “I couldn't save him.” You whisper and ball your hands into fists, preparing for your own death. But the titans simply ignore you and start wandering around freely, like you are not there.
"That's not my name." You blur almost automatically, making the titan race a furry brow.
"Isn't it? Well, I figured you wouldn't remember. After all, you did it to yourself, little dove." Confused, you frown, wondering what he meant.
"That's right. You have no memory of that day." He mocks and turns his attention back to Mike, his expression unaffected by the shocked state he is in.
"I noticed you use swords too. Fascinating. Must mean you know we live in the neck. Did you tell them that?" The beast questions you, giving you a hard look, as if you were some kind of traitor.
"I suppose I'll just take them back." Declaring his decision, the titan reaches for Mike and pulls his damaged ODM from his hips, causing humanity's second strongest soldier to cower in fear.
"Please don't kill him." You beg and scream as he moves you to the roof of the outpost and sets you on it. As you wriggle free and give him a desperate look, you notice Mike slowly standing up, blade in hand, an angry expression plastered across his bruised face.
"You leave my Faye alone!" He shouts, pointing the blade at him. The ape looks surprised at the sudden will to fight.
"Faye? That's ironic. Tell me, do you love this man?" Your eyes widen at the question, and you look from him to the soldier, nothing but a pleading desire to save him in your heart.
"Yes." You confess, your wet eyes never leaving Mike's.
"Hm. Then you leave me no choice."
Feeling your heart stop beating, your eyes widen as four titans, who had been standing still like spectators, begin to move again, running towards Mike in a frenzy of bloodlust. You watch helplessly as the Beast Titan walks away while his mindless puppets begin to tear and bite at various parts of your Section Commander's body. Frozen with fear, mute cries and pleas escape your lips and you close your eyes, unable to watch your loved one's gruesome death. Your own ODM tangles uselessly around your legs, and you lean forward to cover your ears. Mike's screams are torture, a mixture of pain, fear and the realization that he is completely powerless.
Eventually his agonising screams stop and the last thing you hear is the sound of flesh being torn apart and bones being shattered. Numb with pain, you turn around and wait for the titans to close in on you. Sure, that the same fate will befall you, you close your eyes, hoping to ignore the death looming over you. A shiver runs down your spine as you make out movement behind you. "I couldn't save him." You whisper, clenching your hands in preparation for your own death. But the titans just ignore you and start walking around freely, as if you were not there.
You'd like to scream and kill those idiotic, murderous monsters, but all you can do is numbly climb down the roof, past the bloodied titans and straight to Mike's remains. The sight catches you off guard, and you feel dizzy as you see his torn limbs splattered across the ground, covered in blood. Mike deserves a proper burial, and you'll make sure you find the most beautiful cherry tree in the area to lay him to rest.
Erwin is standing in his grant office overlooking his soldiers after the semi-successful capture of Annie Leonhardt this morning. With him are his trusted Captain and Karl, a soldier and informant from his own squad. The Commander sent for Levi to talk about his health, which he quickly dismissed. After his injury, Erwin decided it was best for him to rest and leave Mike in charge of the new cadets. "I spoke to Hange." Levi rolled his eyes absently, as if it were impossible to have a normal, successful conversation with them.
"Apparently Leonhardt isn't going to give up this shit anytime soon." The Captain explains, crossing his arms as he waits for Erwin's reaction.
"I see." He only replies by picking up his glass of golden liquor, but before he can enjoy the burning taste of whisky on his tongue, the door to his office is thrown open. He doesn't usually take well to unannounced distributions, but this time is different.
His soldier gasps at your side, standing in the doorway covered in blood. Your expression is dead, unrecognizable from the usual sparkle in your eyes.
"Wall Rose has been breached." You explain numbly, as if you were in some kind of trance, causing Levi to turn around in surprise, presumably to face you. His lips open and close at your sight, unable to recognize you under all the blood and dirt.
"The cadets of the 104th are most likely not involved, they are looking for the hole in the wall." You begin, your right hand on your heart, your left crossed behind your back.
"Thomas, the first messenger was eaten by a titan shortly after his leave and Section Commander Mike..." your cool demeanor changes as your eyes tangle with Levi's, your voice hollow as you begin to stutter.
"Section Commander Mike is dead."

The Better Man - Epilogue

“Levi…”
You stretch your arms out to his side of the bed, expecting to feel his warm body. The late fall mornings were getting colder and you were yearning to cuddle beside him. But then you remembered: it’s nearly impossible for that man to sleep more than four hours a night, yet alone get him to sleep in the bed, even when he’s here in the comfort of home.
Our home, you think to yourself.
—-
After the Female Titan attack on Stohess, Levi insisted that he move you inside Wall Sina, on the outskirts of Mitras. It was safer, he’d argued, and less likely to have a large-scale titan attack, as protecting you was always first and foremost in his mind. Outside the capital, on two acres of land, you’d found a small, cozy cottage, the perfect size for the two of you (“Smaller houses are easier to clean,” Levi had noted). It was just far enough away that people wouldn’t pry into your business; a place where Levi could be at peace.
But in the months following Stohess, there would be no peace for Levi; in fact, you’d barely seen him. You kept yourself busy with making pastries for the local market and making the cottage a home for Levi to come home to. It had been three months with no word, but you knew he’d come back. He’d promised you.
And that promise was kept when he rode up to the picket fence surrounding your home a few months later. He was weather-worn and exhausted, and he held you in his arms like your very presence was bringing him back to life. He told you of Kenny and the MP’s, of the military coup, and Historia's upcoming coronation. His eyes cast downward when he spoke of Kenny, but there was a hope there too; something you hadn’t seen on his face in a long time, maybe ever.
You also had news for him: you were pregnant.
Your tiny bump was unnoticeable under the layers of your late-summer dress, and at first, he’d just looked at you, as if he was trying to process what you were telling him. You thought he was unhappy at first, but then his face softened and he held you tightly, whispering in your ear that this was the happiest he’d ever felt.
(So there was more than one reason why Levi was smiling so broadly at Historia’s coronation ceremony.)
Finally, it seemed like there was some good in the world.
For the next two months, Levi and the Survey Corps stayed in Mitras, where he became involved in Queen Historia’s efforts to bring all the orphans out of the Underground. He invited you to be a consultant with him, but you’d refused; you didn’t feel educated enough to be in a room full of government and military officials, but at home Levi would ask your opinion on matters. Working together towards making the world a better place, having the man you love beside you, it felt like a dream. And every evening Levi’s hands would rest gently on your belly as you slept.
But no good thing lasts forever.
“Re-taking Shiganshina and filling the hole in the wall should only take a few days”, he’d said. “I’ll be back in a week.”
“We’ll be here waiting for you.” Your belly had grown in the months Levi had been home, and his hands always gravitated toward it, as if willing his protection to the baby inside.
A week came and went, but Levi didn’t return. When another week passed with no word, you started to worry.
News finally reached the village of the massacre of the Survey Corps and the nine survivors who were awarded a medal of valor by the queen. Levi’s name was listed among the nine. You breathed a sigh of relief.
He’ll be home soon.
When he did return, there was a change, like a dark cloud hanging over him. You understood - he’d lost Erwin, who’d been his guiding light for so many years. And he was angry - angry that he wasn’t able to defeat the Beast Titan, that he wasn’t able to keep his promise. You were happy and relieved to have him home, but he wasn’t fully here.
The cold floors creak as you softly walk to the room that will soon be your child’s nursery and there is Levi, sitting in the wingback chair next to the window. Ever the light sleeper, it only takes a few steps of your walking into the room before his eyes flit open.
“Another rough night?” you ask as you walk towards the chair.
“I just didn’t want to wake you. You should rest as much as possible.”
You knew Levi felt guilty for not being with you during much of the pregnancy, and so he made up for it by being extra protective when he was around. He’d barely let you lift a finger, which you’d tried to tell him was unnecessary, but did love being doted over.
He pulls you towards him and you stand in between his legs as he starts gently caressing your belly. “How are you feeling this morning?”
“Fine, but I feel huge,” you sigh. “I still have three months to go… how am I already this big?” you ask, hoping that Levi will reply with, “You’re not that big,” or “You look beautiful,” but he’s silent, his forehead resting on your stomach.
“Levi…what’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” is his reply, but you know that’s not true. He hasn’t been fine since he returned, but what bothers you most is that he’s closing off his feelings.
“Hey,” you lift his head up to look at you, “don’t shut me out. I can tell you’re hurting. Just talk to me.”
You won’t be shut off from the man you love again. You won’t watch him being eaten away from the inside.
It takes him a few moments to respond, seemingly struggling to say the words out loud. “It’s just that everything I’ve known about the world has been wrong. Titans are humans. Kenny was my uncle. There are people - hell, a whole entire rest of the world - beyond these walls. Our duty as Scouts was to find out the truth, and we did that. But without Erwin, I’m not sure any of us know what to do with that truth.”
You sit on Levi’s lap as his heavy heart slowly begins to open up to you. “It’s only a matter of time now before we kill all the titans trapped in Wall Maria. Once spring comes, Hange plans for the Scouts to explore beyond the walls.” His arm, wrapped around your waist, pulls you in tighter. “My life has always been full of unknowns, but this..” he pauses and as you run your hands through his hair. “I don’t know what kind of world we’re about to open ourselves up to…and if I’m strong enough to protect humanity anymore.”
“You’re worried about the world you’re bringing your child into,” you add, your hands caressing his freshly shaven undercut.
“I’ll protect you and our child with every inch of my being, but I hate that I don’t know what’s coming next.”
Levi has always been so sure of himself and his abilities. Erwin gave him a bigger reason to focus that brute strength. Now, Levi is like an unmanned ship careening into dangerous waters.
And he needs you to be his anchor.
“The future is scary right now, no doubt about that. There are times when I’m so terrified of being a mother. But when I feel that way, the one thing that keeps me sane through it all, Levi, is knowing that I’m not doing this alone.”
“And you’re right, the world is changing - there’s nothing any of us can do about that. But think about where we came from, and how far we’ve come. Through it all, there’s been one constant,” your hand gently turns his face towards yours.
“Us.”
You lean your forehead against his. “We have each other. No matter what the future holds for you, me, and Paradis, I will be by your side.”
Levi’s shoulders drop as he lays his head on your chest. You love this man deeply and you know he loves you too.
And whatever happens, you’ll face it together.

Birthday tea (Levi Ackerman x Reader)
Word count: 2 217
Disclaimer: english is not my first language, I apologize in advance for any mistakes
A/N: Thank you so much for the sweet request @violet-fluff I hope you'll like what I came up with! ❤️❤️❤️
Summary: On the day of Levi's birthday, you decide to get him a little gift.
Tumblr media
Birthday tea
It almost seemed that the whole town was turned upside down thanks to all the planning for the end-of-the-year festival. People of Trost forgot about the man-eating threat looming outside the Walls, as they were all decorating their homes and the streets as well. Wherever you walked, you saw some kind of decorations – homemade wreaths or garlands decorated in many different ways, or colorful lanterns hanging in the streets above your head. Some of them held specific wishes the people wrote on them with black paint.
The weather truly didn't fail to remind you, that it was winter. The harsh wind was blowing big chunks of snow right into your face, as you were making your way back to the Survey Corps HQ on the back of your horse. People around you truly seemed happy. Liberated, that there was something nice to celebrate. Kids were running outside and playing in the snow, all bundled up in their warmest clothes.
The sky was getting darker by the minute, as another cold evening was fast approaching. You truly didn't envy the soldier who would be out on night patrol in the streets or on top of the Walls. You were more than happy when you finally left your horse in the stable with a delicious treat and walked into the warm HQ building.
„Hey, where have you been in this horrible weather?“ Hange asked you as soon as you arrived and took off your hood, shaking the snow from it.
„Needed to take care of something important,“ you said with a smile, your nose and cheeks red from the cold. It really was way too cold to just wander around. „Did you see Captain Levi?“
They shook their head. „Not since morning. He, Erwin, and Miche went out to take care of something. I'm not sure if they came back yet, probably not.“
„Oh...“
„Why? Did you need something from him?“ Hange asked while they were flipping through a notebook in their hand. From the other end of the hall, you could see Moblit approaching, carrying big rolls of paper. Probably plans for another experiment.
„No, no. Nothing important,“ you said and looked to the ground for a second. „Guess I'll go warm up in the shower a little, my whole body feels like a block of ice.“ You shoved your hands into your pockets, shivering slightly even despite the warm air in the hallway. Right there, in your right pocket, was the item you needed to retreat even in this weather – a tin box filled with the finest tea you were able to find.
Back when you were a child, you grew up in the countryside near Wall Sina. One of your neighbors was a very successful farmer, whose specialty was planting and growing different kinds of tea leaves. The man with his wife were very friendly and since they weren't blessed with their own kids, they loved it when you or other kids from the village came over to visit them. Even now, you sometimes rode out to visit them, when you went to see your own parents.
After you exchanged a couple more words with Hange and Moblit as well, you headed into your room, right into the hot shower. In there, you took your sweet time, enjoying the tingling sensation on your skin as the water was warming it up.
Since there were no expeditions planned in this weather, the overall atmosphere amongst the Scouts was much more relaxed. During dinner, you had a nice chat and laughed with your friends. At moments like this, you were truly happy that you joined the Scouts. You found many amazing people here and could only pray, that they will stay alive as long as you, or even longer.
The rest of your evening was spent in your little room, cuddled up under the warmest blanket with a good book in your hands. Slowly, your eyes were starting to close, but you were determined to stay awake. Since you didn't see Captain Levi during dinner and didn't have the chance to talk to him, you wanted to wait and see, if you could find him in his office a little later on.
The tin box with tea was lying on your nightstand, decorated with a dark green ribbon, you got on your way back to the HQ as well. It was almost midnight, when you gathered the courage and the rest of your energy, to walk down the dark halls, that led you to Captain Levi's office.
It was still the 25th of December, so you were on time.
When you knocked for the first time, nobody answered. It seemed, that the Captain still wasn't back. But when you tried for the second time, just to be sure, you heard a quiet voice from the other side of the door.„What the hell do you want this time of the day?“ he asked even before you opened the door.
„Good evening, Captain. I know it's late but I have something that couldn't wait until the morning,“ you said, stopping at the open door. Only when Levi looked up at you from his desk and nodded ever so slightly, you dared to come inside. „I was trying to reach you earlier, but couldn't find you. Guess you had something important to take care of.“
„None of your business where I was,“ he stated in a cold and somewhat tired tone. „Why were you looking for me?“
„Yes, right...“ Feeling a little hesitant, you walked up to his desk, which was completely full of paperwork. Taking one last deep breath, you put the tin box with the green ribbon right in front of him. „Happy Birthday.“
Levi looked up at you, then back to the gift you just gave him. It was more than obvious, that he wasn't sure what to say or do.
„I got it right, didn't I? It is your birthday today... right?“ you asked a little worried. Seeing his expression, you suddenly thought you made an absolute fool out of yourself in front of a man you were crushing on for the past year.
„Yes, you got it right,“ Levi said way too quietly.
You smiled and sat down on one of the two chairs in front of his desk. That probably surprised him even more than your gift. He probably didn't have other cadets over for a late-night visit often.
„My former neighbors by Wall Sina always used to grow different kinds of tea. So I paid them a quick visit and got you a little gift.“ You smiled at him warmly, watching the tips of his fingers play with the edge of the ribbon.
A heavy silence fell over the Captain's office because none of you knew what to say next. While you were waiting for his reaction, Levi kept staring at the tin box. The longer he stayed quiet, the more uneasy you were starting to feel.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Maybe you crossed a line by trying to do something you considered nice and thoughtful.
„How do you know it's my birthday?“ Levi finally spoke, looking up at you again. The dim light in his office made the dark circles under his eyes stand out. But that didn't make him look any less handsome, not in your eyes at least.
„You see, I'm not sure. I heard someone mention it a while back,“ you uttered with a little teasing grin.
„Sure.“
One of your best friends worked as a nurse in the infirmary and since she was the type of person, who knows everything about everyone, she had no trouble finding out for you.
Knowing such a thing felt exciting. At least until now. But as you were sitting here at that moment, it suddenly didn't seem like a good idea at all. Maybe you really did cross a line and made him angry. Knowing Levi, he didn't seem like the type of person, who would like to celebrate anything, let alone his birthday.
„I'm really sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, Captain. All I wanted, was to... do something nice for you.“ A shy smile appeared on your face, as you stood up once again, determined not to give up. „Would you like to try it? I can make you a cup, it seems like you have a long and busy night ahead of you.“
Before Levi said anything, you grabbed the box of tea and hurried down the hall to the kitchen, to make a cup for you both. In a couple of minutes, you came back with two steaming hot cups of incredibly smelling tea.
„Here you go, Captain. Hope you'll like it,“ you said and put down the cup in front of him with a smile. „This kind of tea is very rare and unique. It's called yellow tea,“ you explained, while you sat back down and looked into your cup. „It's so rare, that some people try to sell green tea on the market for a lot of money, pretending it's true yellow tea.“
When you looked back up, you found Levi listening to you intently, his features seemingly more relaxed now. „I've heard of it before, but never got the chance to try it,“ he finally said, taking the cup in his hands to smell the soft fruity and floral scent. „The making process is supposed to be pretty difficult.“
„Yeah, it's pretty labor-intensive, time-consuming, and overally a very delicate process. Or at least that's what my neighbor told me. If you'd like, I can take you to their house and you can talk to them about everything that's tea-related,“ you chuckled, happily observing him while he took the first sip. The rich yellow liquid had a pretty vibrant taste – sweet and nutty, a truly delicious combination. „What do you think? Do you like it?“
He nodded without a word, taking another sip almost immediately. Seeing him like this, you smiled with satisfaction. Taking the warm mug into your hands, you rested your back on the wooden chair.
„It's different from the kinds I've tried so far.“
„In a good way?“
„Mhm.“ He took another sip, his furrowed eyebrows finally relaxing. „Where did your neighbors learn how to grow such high-quality tea?“
You shrugged, taking a sip yourself. As you looked out the window behind Levi, you could see a lot of tiny little snowflakes drift through the air in the darkness of the night.
„They've been experimenting with different kinds of teas since I can remember. And even before I was born, actually.“ Seeing him so interested in a topic was quite strange. On the other hand, it made you happy. In the end, you probably managed to make his birthday at least a little bit interesting. Even if it was just a couple of minutes before his special day would come to an end. „Like I said, if you'd like, I can introduce you to them, Captain. I think they would be honored to have such a special visitor. Not to mention someone, who shares the same passion for tea as they do.“
Levi nodded, resting his back on his chair and visibly relaxing his tensed-up shoulders. Seeing him in a state like this was so rare, you couldn't even believe your own eyes for a second. Did you really achieve this? Was he feeling so at ease thanks to you and your crazy little idea?
Dreaming about being something more to him than just a subordinate was probably pointless. In a world like this and mainly in the Survey Corps love never really had its place. It wasn't a priority.
But a little daydreaming never hurt anyone, right?
„Thank you,“ Levi said after a moment, loud enough for you to hear him and take note of the calm tone of his voice. „What do I owe you?“
You furrowed your brows in confusion. „Nothing, it's a gift. I don't expect anything in return.“
„You did pay them for the tea, right?“ You nodded. Even if your neighbors tried to give it to you for free, you refused and insisted on paying them the full price for all their hard work.
„I did, but I don't want anything for it. I got it for you because... I simply wanted to.“
„I'm not used to things like that. Getting gifts or even celebrating in any way,“ he said, looking away for a couple of seconds before his eyes wandered back to your face. You weren't sure, but it almost seemed like the corners of his mouth were curved upwards ever so slightly.
„Well, it's never too late to start.“
Levi's light blue-grey eyes were watching you carefully, while he kept sipping the tea. You gave him a warm smile, that only supported your words. Getting him this present wasn't because you wanted or expected anything in return. All you wanted, was to make his special day a little better. Brighter and happier.
And by the looks on his face, you achieved just that. During the next hour or so, you and Captain Levi talked about the tea your neighbors were growing, and just before you wished him goodnight and went to bed, he agreed to go visit them with you during spring.

hitch is jean in a different font
i might have a new WIP or two cooking, and one of them has me vibrating and combing over canon to make this argument: hitch as jean's shadow, their parallel journeys, her growth only a few months behind his. marlowe as a kind of marco, stohess as her trost.
for me it's all toward a reijean / hitchannie agenda but pray any hitch and jean stans appreciate:
Tumblr media
we meet hitch as an almost-jean: well-aware of what the military police actually is. pragmatic. in the anime's expansion of stohess, jean looks at the MPs scrambling and thinks, "i could've actually been one of them too, huh? just how did i end up here instead?"
the scene of marlowe and hitch cleaning up stohess is another anime addition, in the s2 premiere. marlowe is bewildered that titans were in sina to begin with, but hitch's focus is more mundane: "the worst thing about it all is that so many people died for no good reason." the hulu subtitles are more like "there's no official reason all these people died." levi echoes the sentiment in 59 when he bluntly tells them annie was the female titan: "no one knows a damn thing."
Tumblr media
levi trusts jean to feel them out for a reason, and i think hitch impressed him way more than marlowe. he respects her disgust for loss of life, and her balls to blame the survey corps for it. she's actually a mini nile dawk there, to me, when nile realizes what erwin is up to in stohess, and it makes me think that jean's pragmatism is a necessary injection of the MPs' better traits into the suicidal SC. that it's in the same chapter as jean and armin recovering from their run-in with the interior squad is telling.
Tumblr media
in the 125 hitch/annie date, annie is looking up at the colossals, and hitch literally grounds her. annie is struck by their height, maybe she thinks of bertolt, maybe she's thinking of her mission to prevent this from happening, but hitch doesn't give a shit about the titans themselves, only what they leave in their wake. it feels similar to jean telling eren about marco's death in 22. marco instilled in jean that a leader is honest about what they ask people to die for; hitch is disgusted by the senselessness of the death her whole career has been about cleaning up.
Tumblr media
i think it's easy to look at hitch yawning among the jaegerists in 139 as a bit of her cockroach quality—keeping her head down and saluting along for her survival among fascists, like shadis advises the recruits who beat him (also in 125). but we have seen her demonstrate such kindness, and mourn. practically, she must be pissed that the junta she and marlowe risked themselves to install has been totally upended; she stands by her actions in the uprising arc, look at how she and armin witness zackly's assassination. but beyond that, she hates death more than anything. she could reason that marlowe's death was toward something tangible, the truth of their world, but that it snowballed into the death of most of the world? the rumbling is probably a national holiday to those freaks. it's ghoulish to her.
for my ship agenda (even if you're into these relationships only platonically):
hitch talking to annie's crystal feels like jean saving reiner in shiganshina. everyone else was ready to discard or forget about these traitors, but hitch, jean, and armin all cling to the softness they couldn't reconcile with annie and reiner's titan forms. with what he thought were his dying breaths, reiner delivered ymir's letter. on her day off, in Wall Sina, Goodbye, annie kept her word, and tried to reunite a father and daughter. hitch might have negged her for it, seen it as busy work, but it's the same kindness she bullied marlowe for, if carefully buried under annie's insistence that it was just the quid pro quo between them.
idc that armin talked to her, too, or he knew her longer. hitch fuckin mourned her!! and i think being angry with annie, questioning her for four years, is way, way more humanizing than armin basically monologuing at her while feeling sorry for himself and bertolt and titan shifters generally. (this sounds like i hate armin but swear i love him; i just think aruani is most interesting when bertolt is involved.)
hitch accurately clocks that annie seemed afraid of getting close to people. her own fellow cadets just thought of her as distant, bored; when hange asks the scouts in the 104th about RBA's interactions as cadets, they're at a loss, even armin. even her fellow warriors didn't really see her. annie's distance was a kindness, and her own armor. she sees reibert's deep cover as a waste of time, but i think she also sees they're bound to hurt themselves and their mission in the long run. even though everyone felt betrayed after stohess, reiner was a greater shock, a deeper wound. i think annie wanted to minimize hurt on all fronts. (look how she dips out of the alliance, it's because she's tired, and doesn't want to kill eren, or anyone.)
jean comes to understand reiner only after he and connie and armin have to kill their 104th classmates at the pier. hitch can't fully fathom annie's circumstances or pain, especially not annie saying she'd do it all again, but hitch listens to it all and thanks her for the vulnerability, for softening, which is more compassion than most of the paradis side of the alliance has managed so far. she has a head start on the emotional strides jean makes in between 127 and 133, maybe because she got a bit of catharsis beating her fists against annie's crystal for four years.

the beginning scene in s3 where Erwin first wakes up from his coma. his and Levi’s interaction is so interesting and well done in how it speaks about their relationship is actually MASTERFULLY done.
as soon as Erwin wakes up and they start discussing what the evacuation of Wall Rose has done to Sina and the underground, Levi consoles him and says he wouldnt blame him if he wanted more rest after this news.
but Erwin says no, that he’s tired of sleeping.
Levi AGAIN tries to consoles him about his arm, but Erwin rejects his compassion. how he's such a monster, really his right arm means nothing, and he still has a debt to pay for his sins when he dies and ends up in hell
Pyxis takes this very lightly and asks erwin if he can come visit and bring some alcohol. this annoys Levi lol
Pyxis then laments that his own captain took away all his alcohol and jokes about how well she takes care of him.
Erwin praises him for having such an excellent aide looking after him.
and in the next panel Levi is visibly exhasperated.
Tumblr media
Hange explains their theory that humans are titans based on what they learned from ragako village. Hange and Levi, but especially Levi, are rightfully horrified by this. he looks crestfallen and pretends that he doesn’t understand their conclusion at first
Tumblr media
then, Levi catches Erwin smiling, which shocks him. Erwin is vague about what he’s smiling about and why. he’s super dismissive.
Tumblr media
but right away Levi asks "is that the real reason youre in the Survey Corps?"
he's instantly figured out Erwin’s real intentions based on this small interaction… it’s a testament to how connected they are, even though Erwin refuses to accept that.
Erwin tells him to ease off. "my arm was eaten. i’m physically and emotionally exhausted. don’t you have some pity for me?"
Levi smirks and says that he is pitiful. but here, he’s referring to the reason Erwin smiled, and how blasé he is about the news that horrified himself and Hange. Levi knows that he’s selfish for being happy beyond any other feeling at the news, while at the same time, Erwin JUST expressed the most pathetic self-pity speech about deserving to suffer in hell.
yeah, he really is pitiful. does that evidently change Levi’s feelings in this scene? his actions later? absolutely not. (but i won’t get into that now.)
Erwin wants to know where Historia and Eren are at. Hange explains, and Erwin proposes a plan about finding out more about Historia’s family, and deploying Eren’s hardening ability to take back Wall Maria.
Tumblr media
but Levi mocks him by repeating Erwin’s excuse from earlier to not open up.
"your arm was eaten. you’re physically and emotionally exhausted. i felt bad for you (i pitied you)."
despite all he learned about Erwin just now, he jokes around, his loyalty doesn’t sway. but he also took Erwin’s comment about Pyxis having such an excellent assistant and tries (in classic Levi roundabout fashion) to make Erwin notice and believe that he cares, and that it’s okay to be honest with him about his intentions. Erwin can’t see what is right in front of him, and that’s another reason why he’s pitiful.
it seems here that Levi’s feelings are one-sided, but as i’ve discussed before in previous posts, Erwin is such a slave to his dream and consumed by his guilt that he can’t possibly register consciously that Levi feels all of these soft sentiments about him.
Tumblr media
because after all, they need to make everyone’s sacrifices worth something. it was Erwin’s plan that got many CIVILIANS in Stohess District killed. Erwin during the battle where he lost his arm, is seen looking around lost as his comrades are eaten around him. he says he’s replaceable.
but for no logical reason, he didn’t get grabbed, so i think he’s going to go into the uprising much too greedy and amibitious to be smart because he’s waiting for his turn. like he’s daring fate to kill him already. a part of him maybe wants him to fail, for all this to cost him his life...

Okay okay hear me out
Jean x Childhood friend! Reader
Pt 2
You both grew up in fairly well off families in Trost
Not wealthy, but you all were always able to buy what you needed and never went hungry, not too shabby of a lifestyle
You were neighbors and your parents each ran their own businesses
I think Jean’s mom is a seamstress and father is a cobbler (I have no idea if we know anything about them in canon so please just go with it)
The Reader’s parents are bakers
So Jean and Reader grow up together and do everything together
They help each other with their shop chores so they can finish quicker and go out ti do whatever they feel like that day
Whether it’s swimming, painting, reading, or laying in the grass outside of the district and watching the clouds
They like to talk about their futures, they joke about making it as traveling musicians or the day they’ll take over their parents businesses
But it all changes when Maria falls
Everything gets more crowded, more expensive, and the future a lot more uncertain
The land lord raises the rent on their parents’ stores
Jean sets his eyes on becoming an MP
The reader begs him not to, they yell and scream at each other but Jean’s always been stubborn and in the end his idea really isn’t a bad one
Interior MPs make more money than anyone else
Forget Trost, Jean could buy them all a place within Sina, Far away from the clutches of the titans
And Interior MPs with spouses? Well they made even more…
So it was settled
Jean would join the military and give his all in the cadet corps so he’d get a chance at the MPs
And after he graduated at the top of his class?
He was going home and marrying his best friend
And Jean would do it all, gladly do it, give his mind, his body, his soul so the people he loves have the best shot on this hell on earth

~| Erwin Smith x Reader |~
WARNING: mild spice scene at the end.
“A gathering in Mitras?” Levi asked as he grabbed his tea cup. “No chance.”
“When you’re from a place like the Underground, you don’t really get opportunities like this.” Y/N said. “It’s still a no though, Erwin.”
“There’ll be a great impact if both of you arrive. Humanity’s Strongest Soldiers arriving at a fancy party of higher ups will be good for the Survey Corps.” Erwin explained.
“It’s a fancy gathering, we have no interest in these things.” Levi muttered as he looked at his twin sister.
”Most of its going to be those Unicorn Pricks and that one Drunk Garrison guy.” Y/N said. “Unless we’ve been invited we’re not going.”
Just as Y/N said that, Erwin pulled out a letter from his right pocket and opened it up. Clearing his throat he began to read out a section of the fancy handwriting on the paper.
“You are allowed to bring one guest with you, whether it be a friend, partner or an acquaintance.” Erwin quoted before looking at the duo.
”That means only one of us is going.” Y/N said before leaning against the wall behind her.
”Hange also received an invitation, not so sure why..” Erwin explained, mumbling the last bit. “Hange already decided to take one of you so that all four of us can come.”
”Can’t Mike go with you?” Levi asked as he sipped on his tea.
”He’s busy with paperwork and so is Nanaba, and Gelgar, along with all of the other Captains…” Erwin mumbled. Suddenly Hange bursted into the room with the same letter in her hands.
”GOOD AFTERNOON! Hello Erwin, Y/N and Levi!” Hange happily said as she waved the letter in her hands.
”Good afternoon Hange.” Erwin formally greeted whereas the two Ackerman siblings stayed sat down, silently.
”Has Erwin told you about the invitation?” Hange asked happily.
”Yes, he has Hange.” Y/N answered causing Hange to grin mischievously. “Now we’ll just have to choose partners, but honestly I don’t care who I’ll end up with.”
”I’ll go with Levi!” Hange happily said as she turned towards him. “Hey Levi did you know-“
”No. Shut up.” Levi quickly said, shutting Hange from blabbering.
”That means you and me Y/N.” Erwin said. “It’ll be a party in Mitras so we’ll have to be formal. The party will take place next week on Sunday, a carriage will arrive at roughly 5 o’clock so we should arrive in half an hour. Any questions?”
”Just one. How did Hange get an invitation but Humanity’s Strongest Soldiers didn’t?” Y/N asked.
”I.. do not know that.” Erwin said as the trio looked at Hange, awaiting for an answer.
”Why’re you looking at me for?! I didn’t think I’d get invited to Mitras either, okay?!” Hange exclaimed.
As the week went by, eventually the time came for when the four higher ups would travel together for the party. Erwin wore a dark royal blue suit with a red tie. Levi wore his iconic black suit and stood beside Erwin in his office.
”Do you know when Y/N or Hange will be coming.?” Erwin asked as he checked the time awkwardly.
”No.” Levi bluntly said.
Suddenly the door opened and revealed the two scouts, dressed in their formal attire. Hange had worn a suit as well, claiming the suit looked to fabulous and had to be shown off. Y/N wore a black dress which flowed nicely as she walked towards them. (You can decide what it looks like)
”I-is everyone ready?” Erwin said as he quickly looked away from Y/N.
”Let’s get going already.” Levi said as he got up and saw the fancy carriage outside of the building. “The carriage is here too.”
Quickly rushing out of the building and into the carriage, they sat down and set off to Mitras. The journey was long so Erwin began to talk with Levi about upcoming expeditions whilst Hange mentioned her Titan experiments and theories to Y/N. Soon, the carriage arrived in Wall Sina, right in front of the very building in which the grand hall was located.
Stepping out the carriages, Erwin helped Y/N out like the gentleman he was before offering his arm for her to hold onto, in which she accepted.
”You look quite stunning today.” Erwin whispered in her ear as they walked slowly.
”Thanks you, you look rather… nice.” Y/N mumbled as she walked beside him. Walking into the hall, to the side was a large table in which expensive food was laid out along with sweet dishes and other grand things. There were multiple round tables which could fit up to 8 people and in the middle of the hall was nothing for it was space for guests to dance with one another, whilst a band played music in the corner of the hall.
”When you said it was fancy.. I didn’t expect this Erwin.” Y/N confessed as her hands fell to her sides.
”This is Wall Sina I guess. Even I didn’t expect it to be this luxurious.” Erwin said as he looked around before meeting eyes with Nile.
”Oh great, the thin moustache bastard..” Levi muttered under his breath.
”You’ve met him before?” Hange asked quietly for once. “You must know how much of a pain he is then.”
“I have but Y/N hasn’t, he’s a real dick alright.” Levi mumbled before turning away. “Shit, he’s coming towards us.”
”Erwin, good to see you.” Nile said as he reached out to shake Erwin’s hands. “Glad you could make it.”
”Happy to be here, Nile.” Erwin replied as he shook his hand. “Who’d you bring with you?”
”Oh just a cadet from the Military.. I see Captain Levi is with you.” Nile said as he frowned at Levi glaring at him.
”Actually he’s Hanges partner for tonight. Tonight I brought along Y/N, she’s Levi’s sister.” Erwin said as he placed an arm on he back.
”Good Afternoon.” Y/N said as she looked towards Nile and reached out to shake his hand. Blush evidently spread across Nile’s face once he saw Y/N but quickly took her hand and kissed the knuckles of her soft hands. Disgusted, Y/N slowly pulled her hand back and wiped it against the back of her dress. Erwin’s calmer look was much more annoyed as he stared at Nile, wondering what he was doing.
”We haven’t met before as it seems.” Nile said as he smiled at Y/N. “It’s nice to meet you Y/N. If you hadn’t heard already, I’m the Commander of the Military Police.”
”Nice to meet you too, we’ll see you later I suppose.” Y/N said as she looked at Erwin who simply smiled at her and looked towards Nile.
”We better take our seat now, shall we?” Erwin asked before Nile interrupted.
”Why don’t you sit with us? It’s best if there’s no empty seats at a table instead of there being multiple.” Nile said as he pointed to his table.
”Fine.” Erwin replied, still keeping his composure. The four walked towards the table and sat in the seats. Somehow, Nile ended up next to Y/N whilst Erwin stayed on her other side.
”Y/N, let’s swap places.” Levi said as he tried helping her out of the situation.
”It’s fine like this.” Erwin and Nile both said at the same time, causing them to look at each other. After a long speech, made by Darius Zachary, everyone began to chatter amongst themselves. Nile’s partner soon arrived, a disgusting smell lingering on him.
”Where'd you go?” Nile asked
”I went for a smoke. Besides, I only missed out on some boring old speech.” He said before sitting down beside Nile. “Who are these folks?”
”These are members of the Survey Corps. You remember Captain Levi and Commander Erwin, don’t you?” Nile asked. “This is Felix, he’s my partner for tonight.”
”Y-yeah yeah. Nice to see you all again..” Felix muttered as he looked away from Levi’s death stare and towards Y/N. “I haven’t seen you before. Who might a dazzling lady like you be?”
”Y/N Ackerman.” Y/N bluntly said, not reaching out to shake his hand. Watching Felix, he leaned back on his chair and smirked towards her before sipping on his wine. Much to his dismay, Erwin stared at the Military Police member before sipping on his water.
“Oi Felix, don’t you think it’s early to be drinking?” Nile asked quietly. “You already had a cigarette.”
”Relax, just trying to impress the lady.” Felix whispered into Miles ear before getting up along with everyone else and heading towards the large tables of food. Grabbing a plate, Y/N placed small portions of recognisable food and sat back down at the table. Looking up, Nile had sat in his seat whilst Felix had rushed to Erwin’s seat, moving it closer to Y/N.
”Say, Y/N-“ Felix began to say.
”That’s Erwin’s seat, so could you please move off it. Also you reek of cigarettes and onions.” Y/N said as Erwin arrived to the table.
”H-huh..?” Felix mumbled before getting up and moving back to his seat and slumping in his chair. Erwin quickly sat down beside Y/N, not caring to adjust his chair back to its regular position whilst Levi and Hange sat down together.
”So Y/N, why’d you choose the Survey Corps?” Nile asked as he cut his steak and chewed it down.
”I’m not so sure, but if I had to guess it was probably because it was my only option and also because Levi chose it too.” Y/N answered as she picked up her glass of water.
”Y’know, the Military Police has a few spaces for talented soldiers like you.” Nile replied as he smiled towards Y/N.
”Thank you for the offer but I kindly decline.” Y/N quickly said.
”Both of Humanity’s Strongest Soldiers are apart of Survey Corps which means a lot to us, Nile.” Erwin said as he smiled at him.
”I suppose so, still, the offer still stands. If you do end up moving branches, you could work beside me and some of the fellow Captains-“ Nile began to say.
”Hey Nile, how’s Marie?” Erwin interrupted.
”Marie.? She’s alright I suppose.” Nile answered. “Why’d you ask now?”
“She was one of my old acquaintances, besides am I not meant to ask about one’s wife’s condition?” Erwin asked.
”You’re married?” Y/N asked as she looked at Nile’s hand to see a silver ring. “Good for you.”
“For how long if you don’t mind me asking? Five, six years now if I had to guess.” Erwin said.
”R-right.” Nile mumbled embarrassed.
”And how’s your daughter? Heard she’s turning four soon.” Erwin admitted. “If we can, Y/N and I will drop by and see you all. You know how Hange and Levi can be so it’ll be us two.”
”N-no no it’s alright.” Nile said as he sipped on his wine. “You don’t have to visit, you must be uhm busy..”
”Erwin, what’re you doing?” Y/N whispered into his ear as she glanced back at Nile, who was looking away from them.
”Excuse us, just for one moment.” Erwin requested before grabbing ahold of Y/N’s hand and dragging her out of the hall.
”Erwin. Erwin. Erwin! What are you doing?” Y/N asked as Erwin ignored her and dragged her back to the carriage, making sure no one was around.
“Get in, we’re leaving. I’ll tell Hange to come with Levi whilst I pardon Darius for our sudden leave.” Erwin explained.
”Why are we leaving so early though? This was your idea and your suddenly switching up.” Y/N said as she stared at him and crossed her arms.
“You feel uncomfortable don’t you?” Erwin mumbled as he grabbed her chin and tilted it up. “I can tell.”
”Let’s just get going then..” Y/N muttered as she quickly rushed into the carriage. Soon, the trio arrived and sat in the carriage, riding off to the Survey Corps Headquarters. Upon arriving there, Y/N and Levi walked down the hallway together, trying not to wake up any soldiers.
”Y’know, if it wasn’t a special event that Erwin wanted to attend, I would’ve left right after making sure Nile got a taste of those filthy hands of his.” Levi whispered.
”He was revolting.” Y/N simply said before getting stopped by Erwin.
“I need to discuss something with you Y/N.” Erwin said as he placed a hand on her shoulder. Letting Levi walk off, Y/N walked beside Erwin towards his office, Erwin’s hand sliding down to her lower back.
.
.
.
“Do you know how jealous I was huh?” Erwin panted as he rested his nose in Y/N’s neck.
”E-Erwin. I didn’t-“ Y/N began to say.
”Say it again. Say my name again Y/N.” Erwin demanded as his nose moved away from her neck, and his lips were attached instead. “That’s an order.”
”Erwin.” Y/N gasped. Erwin’s hand kept Y/N’s thighs tightly wrapped around his waist as he kept her against the wall in his office.
”Who would’ve thought that Humanity’s Strongest Soldier would be so submissive, hm? Acting all tough but when daddy kisses you a dozen times, you get all weak.” Erwin mumbled before sucking on Y/N’s neck.
”I’m sorry Erwin. I really am.!” Y/N mumbled as she looked at him.
”Let’s get to bed, shall we?” Erwin asked.

Could you write a story of Levi meeting his cute s/o’s family at their house for dinner in sina(she’s from Shiganshina but her older sister married a noble so that her parents can live in sina) and her father is like her(cheerful+funny) and her mother is sweet+gentle. But her big sister is reserved and doesn’t approve of Levi because she doesn’t trust him protecting her sister. How will levi react to her welcoming parents and her sister’s bluntness and rudeness towards him? Thank you.

Thank you for the request, anon! I hope you enjoy ~

You were more nervous than he was. It was not that you had not told him how forthcoming your sister could be, nor that he was oblivious to the importance of in-law dinners. Levi simply had confidence in himself and in the fact that nothing could be as bad as his times outside the walls. A four-course dinner in inner Sina was a walk in the park no matter who was on the other side of the table, even if it was your entire family.
Despite how many times you had been there, stepping into your sister’s house - mansion more like - never failed to take your breath away. Just the foyer was bigger than your entire suite. The hallway was adorned with paintings, each worth more than either of your salaries, perhaps combined. Gold trim on the ceilings and oriental rugs on the hardwood, her place was a short trek from the Survey Corps headquarters, but felt a million miles away.
You turned to your side and admired Levi’s shock - lips parted slightly in awe, eyes wide open in an attempt to absorb everything. It was about as bewildered as he ever got.
Tilting your gaze, you raised a brow, I told you.
Levi rolled his eyes and nudged your hip with his, Yeah, alright, whatever.
Still, he was not intimidated. Erwin had dragged him to Stohess palaces plenty of times for fundraising events over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Those high-hat bureaucrats could be insufferable, but this was your family, so they were sure to be similar to you: liked by everyone, easily loveable.
When it came to your parents, he was right. Your dad was a welcome opposition to the father-in-law stigma. Not a killjoy, but quick to laugh and laugh hard. A warm, honest smile - could tell where you got it from. Your mother, on the other hand, was clearly the source of your kindness. While listening intently to the conversation, she kept a constant eye on everyone’s drinks and would top them off the second they fell below half-empty. She continuously served seconds of salad and potatoes onto Levi’s plate, not asking, only insisting: eat more, eat more! Levi smiled at the gesture, his mother had been the same.
It was going well. Your introvert did not magically morph into a social butterfly, but he did everything right. Cordial manners, please and thank-yous, you admired how he kept his swearing under wraps. When your parents asked the tough questions about titan kills and soldier life, he knew exactly the superlatives to emphasize and the low points to leave out. Being respectful made him respectable, and your parents were without any insight as to how rough a hand he had been dealt in life.
There was someone who knew, though, and was clutching their fists in anticipation of spilling. To her, his ironed cravat and pressed pants were a deliberate disguise, trying to throw off the scent to the lowlife he really was.
Especially in the wake of the king’s overthrow and the subsequent coronation of Queen Historia. Your sister’s husband was a member of the Military Police, and the only reason he was not at the table with the rest of you now was because he was in custody, soon to be investigated for all Erwin had stuck him with: conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and treason. It was nothing personal, for every single member of the branch was being tried across the board. Given humanity’s vast outnumeration by the titans, it was widely understood that no one would be severely punished, a slap on the wrist at most. It was more symbolic than anything else, a message to the public that order was restored, rulers were to be held accountable, and the defining principle of the Scout Regiment: there was truth to be found out there.
That was not how she saw it, though. All she could see was the man from the newspaper’s WANTED section, sat across from her, at her kitchen table, in the spot where her husband would be - if not for that goddamned little runt. She was determined, not only to let him know he was not welcome here, but not welcome in the family.
Irritated when your father offered him a toast. Irate when your mother showered him with praise. Worst of all was the way you looked at him: absolutely in love, blinded.
She interrupted Levi’s thanks with a loud, deliberate clear of her throat, “So -” she propped her elbows on the table, silverware clattered, “Mom, Dad, (Y/N), would you mind cleaning up? I was going to show Levi around the gardens.”
Levi nearly choked, Gardens? It really was a different level of luxury. Still, he was keen to stay behind. If anything, cleaning up was where he could really start to impress. “Actually, I-”
“Great!” Interrupting again, she reached over the table and practically pulled him across it.
You flashed him a look, do you need me to come with you? Because, if not... this may have been a good opportunity to get a read on your parents’ reads and boast about the feats Levi was too humble to.
Levi raised his palm and waved you off with a few fingers, don’t worry. I’m fine.
An hour later, he was starting to regret that decision.
Though it was just the two of them there physically, he knew that he was actually speaking to all your family, including you, for anything he told your sister was very likely to be transmitted. In fact, Levi clenched his teeth, that was probably the whole reason for this “garden tour” in the first place.
Either that or to fuck with him. She hit all of the targets without hesitation. You mentioned your mother. She still around? What happened? No father but an uncle who passed recently. So no family, huh?
You used to have a squad, right? What were their names? Been so long since I read their obituaries, it’s hard to remember.
Levi stuffed his hands into his pockets and stared vehemently at the ground. Was she fucking serious? Some host.
If this were anyone else, he would have happily told them to fuck off and been on his way, but this was too important. He had tried deflecting, asking about her life, despite how deeply he loathed small talk. He had tried brushing things off and changing the subject, but she never settled for a non-answer.
Levi shook his head, the last bit of composure wavering until he stopped in his tracks, prompting her to pause as well.
Tense eye contact, Levi leaned forward, demanding. “What do you want to know?” And in that moment, she understood his title of captain. At a mere 160 centimeters, he seemed to tower like a titan. “Ask me a straightforward question and I’ll give you a straightforward answer.”
Arms crossed, she lowered her brows and raised her voice, “Everyone close to you ends up dead.” Shouting now, “Why?!”
Levi scoffed, “You ask the tough questions, huh?”
Your sister gave him a two-handed shove. If he was not humanity’s strongest, he would have gone stumbling backward into the hedges. “They could have had a cushy, comfortable life in the capital, but you and your sacrifice squad fucked with their head and convinced them the Scouts was somehow safer.” Fire in their gaze, “How do you sleep at night?!”
A deep breath, but no rile. “Would they be more secure in Sina or in the Scouts? Likely, Sina.” Levi conceded. “But they didn’t choose the MPs, did they?” Given your brother-in-law’s situation, he omitted the obvious: And it’s a good thing they didn’t.
“I didn’t force them to know the Scouts, either. Where the fuck do you think I met them?” Bye-bye filter.
“Safer with me or on their own?” Levi hushed beneath his breath, “I think we both know the answer to that.”
Over a hundred titan kills. Dozens of assists to match. Not only titans, but he was capable of fighting humans as well. She kicked the dirt in stubborn admission: safer with you, more than anyone else.
“Yes, everyone I’ve ever loved has died -”
Your sister’s jaw fell at the open admission: he loved you.
“- but I wasn’t there. You asked how I sleep, I don’t sleep. Every night, I’m kept awake - thinking about what I would have done if I was.”
A healthy handful of seconds that they surveyed each other’s stares. Nothing but the sound of crickets chirping and the trees rustling. Ironically, occasional laughs broke from the kitchen, communicating that the outdoor strife had not penetrated into the happy home.
Their joy seeped outside, though, and it started to make sense. All this poking and prodding had no ill intentions, only protective ones. She was just worried for her sibling, that’s all. Levi unclenched his fist and rested a soft yet sturdy hand on her shoulder. “I’ll never leave their side,” whether you like it or not.
Levi spoke the truth, brutally honest yet undeniable truth, they both knew that. Tension defined their gaze until understanding melted it. There was no one better for you.
But you knew that already.

Me after Reading the Optimus Dinobot what if
Tumblr media
Love your what ifs
Previous Episode of the Dinobot Timeline
I guess this is a timeline now lol
So Optimus is obviously in hot water for not revealing this form to the Survey Corps and Megatron, even though he has explained that he can't control it. Hanji immediately wants to run experiments, but the Survey Corps has to take care of the coup. The bad news is that the ruling party got wind of Optimus' chaotic form and used that to slander Optimus' name throughout the public. Now the titan that was lauded as being a Savior was now being seen as someone to be feared.
It makes Optimus feel bad, obviously. All that hard work and he's being scorned and ridiculed. He can't blame the humans for their fear. However, the Survey Corps and Megatron are obviously pissed off for this injustice.
Reiner and Bertholdt are still in the Survey Corps, helping them out and obviously buying time to try and get at least Annie back. Pieck managed to worm her way into the outer rim of the rulers of the inner wall. So she's getting a substantial amount of information. Specifically about Annie's location and their experimentations on her, Eren holding both the Founding Titan and the Attack Titan, and Historia Reiss being of royal blood. Meaning the most valuable players that could turn the tide in this war and make up for the loss were standing right there. Zeke and the Jaws were no doubt a small price to pay if they could somehow get Annie, Eren, and Historia.
Rod is still able to successfully replicate the energon serum and use it on Annie while also making spares of the energon. Pieck, being closer to the inner circle, is able to find Annie, free her and take her out right before Armin, Mikasa, and Megatron get there. Pieck also manages to spot a spare energon titan serum and grabs it before bolting. Armin, Megatron, and Mikasa don't find Annie, but after a little more digging, the trio find notes on the energon serum, and now there's more of an urgency to find where the rest of the serums are and where Annie is.
The coup itself plays out like it does in the anime, not like in AOP. Because Optimus is currently feared for his titan form, Hanji thought it would be unwise to use him, and the people of Trost probably wouldn't rally behind him when marching to Sina considering what they've learned.
So the Survey Corps and Megatron break into the underground cavern to get Eren and Historia back. However, Pieck is close by, debating her options on whether to take the energon serum. She knows if she doesn't, the chance to take Eren and Historia are gone. But, she has to take a chance. Pieck takes the serum and transforms into her titan form, busting through the ceiling of the underground cavern, startling everyone. They try to use their weapons on her, but because of the energon, she's immune. The Survey Corps have to take cover, but Reiner and Bertholdt use the distraction to get to Eren and Historia. Megatron sees this and immediately bolts after them.
But because of Pieck, there's a delay. And Historia still makes the decision on her own to judo flip Rod while Kenny is watching in delight. But Rod still takes the energon serum and becomes that massive titan with energon in its system now. Kenny manages to leave unscathed because his team isn't coming in to break his focus. Reiner and Bertholdt come in to 'help' rescue Historia and free Eren. And as they're ready to bolt out of there, Megatron screams at Eren and Historia to run before fatally shooting Reiner in the neck. However, Reiner uses whatever energy he has left to transform into his titan form to take Bertholdt, Historia, and Eren out of there. Megatron is ready to pursue in his bipedal mode, but there's the matter of the Survey Corps still being in danger and the massive lumbering titan heading towards one of the walled towns. Pieck does manage to catch Reiner in titan form running away and quickly bolts after him, surprised at how fast she's able to run now. Reiner gets out of his titan form and he and Bertholdt take a depressed Eren and screaming Historia away. The Survey Corps do manage to escape the rubble, and so does Kenny, but not his team as they get crushed. Megatron informs them all that Reiner is a titan shifter and he took Eren and Historia. Ymir quickly turns into a titan and bolts after them, ignoring the screams of her comrades. She barely manages to see Pieck climbing over the wall and screams Historia's name in titan form, while Historia screams Ymir's name.
Normally, the Survey Corps would have pursued, but again, Rod's titan form. They have to focus their resources there to prevent civilians from being killed. Megatron and Optimus end up tag teaming to take out Rod's titan form with the civilians in the walled town watching. Optimus also uses his Dinobot form during the battle, and everyone is in awe to see Optimus and Megatron work together like this.
When it's over, Ymir informs them in sorrow that Historia and Ymir have been captured by Marley, and everyone is devastated, but Megatron is the one asking what Marley is. Ymir explains that's its the most powerful nation in the outside world, and that humanity is not extinct at all.
A few notes:
-The monarchy government is replaced with the military government, but because of the Survey Corps actions and Optimus and Megatron's battle prowess, the public don't seem to mind them being in power. Megatron and Optimus were able to prove they are trustworthy.
-Because Reiner and co flee to Marley, the Survey Corps are able to retake Wall Maria with no casualties, using Optimus, Megatron, and Ymir to eliminate the titans.
-Kenny's been captured and interrogated for obvious reasons, but Kenny is willing to spill what he knows. Specifically how Eren's father Grisha stole the power of the titans from Rod years ago. With Mikasa's help, they do find the basement and manage to pry open the drawer with the notebooks with brute force. And they get more history about the current outside world since Ymir's knowledge is no doubt outdated.
-Ymir, Armin, Mikasa, and Optimus are the most devastated out of the loss of Eren and Historia for obvious reasons.
-Megatron does notice the photo and how the kid looks similar to Zeke, now that he's completely healed. No one actually knew Zeke's name up until the notebook's discovery. So Megatron brings it up during interrogation of Zeke. He brings up his name first, which gets a visible reaction. Then Megatron shows the picture, which Zeke is surprised by, then Megatron brings up Grisha Jaeger by name, pointing at the standing man. Zeke realizes that the Founding Titan is being held by Eren Jaeger, his brother and decides to offer his help to the Survey Corps on the condition he be granted immunity. Megatron questions why he should even bother doing that, and Zeke retorts that if Marley has both someone of royal blood and the Founding Titan, that it's only a matter of time before they get around the vow renouncing war. They need him in order to stop Marley's continued reign over the world and the abuse of Eldians everywhere. Megatron says he'll run it by the military first.
(Man this was not something I was not expecting with the Dinobot timeline)

As the hours rolled by with nobody from the surrounding villages showing up to their appointments with you, you started to get stressed out. Were they all a bunch of no shows on purpose? Your prices weren’t extravagant but you knew times were tough on everyone, especially after the breach of Wall Maria. Citizens of Wall Rose were fighting for their fair share of resources and jobs while refugees tried their best to not starve on the streets. It was a constant battle for food and wages for anyone outside Wall Sina and you hated to see people fighting amongst themselves when a much larger threat loomed right outside the failing walls. With nothing else to do, you took the time to look over Captain Levi’s torn cape and decide how you were going to mend it. Why did he do that in the first place? Was he taking pity on you? You didn’t mean to tell him all your financial woes, they just slipped out in the heat of the moment. Maybe he just wanted to test your skills with the sewing machine he got you? Yes, that had to be it. You had given the machine a trial run earlier and now you felt confident enough to use it on commissioned pieces. Taking in a deep breath to steady yourself in the midst of the most important project of your life, you got to work.
You sewed tirelessly throughout the afternoon and evening, barely stopping for breaks. You needed to be sure this cape was done before you took your horse into the village tomorrow to see a veterinarian. Speaking of your horse, you heard her let out a long, high pitched whinny. You quickly pushed your chair away from the table and hurried outside. She looked even sicker than she did this morning—an extremely bad sign. She could barely stand, wobbling in her pasture. There was no way she could make the journey into the village, you’d have to run there and ask for an emergency veterinarian house call. You began to cuddle up to her, whispering sweet nothings to her to calm her down, and you could tell she was becoming more and more content. Placing a long, sweet kiss to her snout, you reluctantly pulled away.
“Hold on for me, sweetheart. I’m going to get you some help. Just hang in there. Please.”
Your horse just looked at you and you prayed to whatever higher being might hear you that she understood your intentions. You ran back inside to grab a lantern and jacket for the run through the chilly night air. Taking one last look at your horse, you ran as fast as your legs could take you to the village with the vet.
You were sure that when you came running into the village you looked like a complete madwoman, but you didn’t care. All you knew was that you needed to get to the vet’s house as fast as humanly possible. When you saw his house, the front lantern thankfully still lit, you ran up to the door and pounded on it.
“Dr. Becker! Dr. Becker! Please, it’s an emergency! My horse is sick. I need your help, please!”
There was no answer. Your fists collided with the door mercilessly until finally there was movement behind the creaking wood.
“Don’t you realize how late it is, girl?” the older doctor asked, opening the door. He had a disgruntled look on his face that only slightly softened when he noticed how desperate and close to tears you were.
“Please, Dr. Becker, my horse is sick. She can barely stand, won’t eat, and she’s been coughing. I’m begging you, please do an emergency house call right now for her. I don’t know where else to go.”
He sighed, rubbing his hand on his face. “I’m off duty right now, you know.”
“I know. I have money,” you said, pulling out a pouch of coins and letting him inspect them to prove their authenticity. He let out a “hmmph!” and collected his medical bag.
“Come, child. Show me the way.”
When your house came into view, it took all you had to not climb out of the cart you were riding in to run and greet your beloved companion. As Dr. Becker parked his horses, you ran over to your own. She was lying down, completely still.
“No, no, no!” you exclaimed tearfully, your hand in front of her snout to check for breathing. There was none. Dr. Becker made his way over to you, putting a comforting hand on your shoulder.
“I’ll check to make sure she’s truly gone before I leave.”
As he got on the ground to check her pulse, your mind was reeling. What were you going to do? You barely had enough money to cover the vet visit, there was no way you could afford a whole new horse! And what about your own house calls? You used to ride your horse into the village once a month to help out your elderly customers who couldn’t make the journey to your workshop. The kind veterinarian caught your eye and shook his head.
“I’m sorry. She’s dead.”
You were too numb to cry. In a daze, you handed the doctor your pouch of coins to cover the inconvenience of coming all this way, but he would only accept a third of the full payment.
“You need the money more than I do,” he explained, eyeing your deceased horse and ramshackle house. When he said goodbye and left, you realized you truly were alone. You didn’t know what to do with your horse’s body. It was going to be another hot day tomorrow and you didn’t want her to rot in the sun. It was too late at night to do anything about it, though, so you covered her with a sheet and went to bed.
The next morning was extremely difficult for you. You had to drag your body out of bed, the stresses of last night weighing you down. After you nibbled on a small breakfast, you heard a cart coming down your dirt path.
“Dr. Becker said there was a deceased animal here to dispose of?” one of the men had asked you when you walked outside. You confirmed, pointing the team to white sheet in the pasture. They loaded her onto the cart and you whispered a final farewell to your best friend and most faithful companion. Going back inside, you looked around you, gauging what work still needed to be done. You spied Levi’s cape in the same spot you discarded it hours prior. You knew that had to be finished first since he was coming to pick it up later today. You tried to drown yourself in the work but it didn’t distract you enough. When your tears landed on his cape, it took everything inside you not to scream out in frustration. You went to the bathroom to splash water on your face, hoping it would ground you. Instead, you just took notice of your unkempt appearance. Your life had gone from normal to shambles in a matter of hours and you were at a loss of what to do. It was difficult times like these that made you wonder if you made a mistake leaving Wall Sina…
No.
You couldn’t afford to dwell on things you can’t change. You could only look forward and that’s exactly what you were going to do. Getting ahold of yourself, you reminded yourself that Captain Levi entrusted you with his cape, meaning your career, at least, wasn’t in shambles. You had a great skill set that was near impossible to replicate so at least you had that going for you. You got back to work, still worried about your future but less distraught.
Another work day over, you awaited Levi’s arrival at your door for the pick up of his belonging. When the clock struck 5pm, you expected to hear him knocking at your door, but there was nothing. You didn’t know much about the man, but you knew he was always on time. You furrowed your brows when it turned to 5:10 and there was no sign of him. Was he going to stand you up like everyone else today?
BAM BAM BAM
Whoever was at your door, it certainly wasn’t the captain. You heard bickering on the other side of the door.
“Eren! You can’t pound on a door like that, especially if it’s a lady’s house!”
“Shut up, Armin. We’re in a hurry. I don’t need Captain Levi being any madder at us for being late than he already is.”
You opened the door to reveal a trio of teens.
“Ms. L/n! We’re here to pick up Captain Levi’s cape,” Armin said, a sweet smile on his face. You were well acquainted with these kids, mostly because they were always running into battle and ending up with torn uniforms (especially Eren—what on earth could he be doing to always end up with shredded shirts?).
“I’ll get that for you right away. Please, come in.”
The kids walked into your place, seemingly scrutinizing it.
“Yes, I know it’s dirty and falling apart. Your captain already lectured me on it.”
“That’s no surprise. He’s always in a bad mood,” Eren grumbled. You gave Armin the cape and Mikasa handed you the money. It was a large sum but you couldn’t even find it within your heart to be excited.
“Thanks you guys. Want any treats while you’re here?”
Their eyes lit up. Even Mikasa seemed to have a happier expression on her face as you handed them each a small piece of pastry you had made a few days prior. As they snacked, you noticed Mikasa eyeing your embroidery hoop.
“I do embroidery too. Anything you want, I’ll do it. Personal clothes or inside of uniforms. Names, symbols, whatever. Since you kids are almost single-handedly keeping me in business with all the clothes of yours I fix, the first few personalizations are on the house.”
Mikasa looked lost in thought, like she was remembering a long lost memory or something. All of a sudden, her face turned back to her near emotionless state. The three of them gave you their thanks and were ready to leave when Armin spoke up once more.
“Ms. L/n? Where’s your horse, I brought her a small apple slice. I know how much she loves them.”
You really didn’t want to cry in front of the kids over something so silly but you were close to breaking down.
“She died last night,” you explained, letting out a shaky breath. “She was sick for a short period and died in the 20 minutes I left to get the veterinarian.”
The blonde, upon hearing the news, gave you a big hug. “I’m so sorry, I knew how much you loved her. We all did.”
“What are you going to do now? Get a new one?” questioned Eren.
“I’m not sure yet, but that’s not for you kids to worry about. Now head back before Captain Grumpy finds out you’ve been messing around here too long.” When the kids and their horses were out of view, you let out another long sigh. What were you going to do?
Levi had been swarmed with meetings, swarmed with paperwork, swarmed with people bothering the shit out of him. He was in a worse mood than usual and anybody who got in his way felt his wrath. He felt bad for snapping at people, but his head just hadn’t been in the right place the past few days. Ever since his run ins with the seamstress, she hadn’t left his mind. She was strange to him, too happy go lucky for her own good. She was careless; who walks through forests without a horse these days? She was too kind for her own good. He was also jealous of the way y/n’s job was ridiculously ordinary. Being a seamstress in these times sounded woefully mediocre compared to fighting titans. It was, admittedly, still an important job. He gave her shit for showing preference to Hange’s uniforms, but if he was telling the truth, he would’ve never noticed that she wasn’t using a sewing machine. Her work was neat, precise—traits Levi could appreciate. The thing about y/n that bothered Levi the most was how damn pretty she was. Sure, he’d been attracted to a few women here and there, but they all paled in comparison. There was something about her that was magnetic, pulling Levi in, causing him to want to know more about her. This thought made him want to puke. He couldn’t get attached to any more people, he couldn’t afford to. Levi’s heart had been smashed into too many pieces by now, too many deaths he’d had to face of people he loved. His head was in the right place, trying to convince him to ignore her and focus on his duty as a soldier, but he found himself listening to his heart more and more. Finding that sewing machine for you was a pain in the ass since they were extremely hard to find, especially in working order. He had pulled some strings to get information, eventually buying one off a villager who’d “acquired” it in the interior. Then, him taking you home was something he’d never thought he would do for some stranger, especially letting you hold him in such a way that made his breath catch in his throat and his hands go clammy. The final nail in the coffin was when his fingers disobeyed any notion of common sense, ripping the biggest hole he could manage in his cape for you to fix so you could make some more money. It was no secret he had a soft spot for animals, but there was no reason he should’ve felt as bad for you and your horse as he did. Also, your house was a total wreck and he wanted to scream at Erwin for allowing you to reside there. When he thought back about his actions, he grimaced. You were just some girl he met a few days ago. How were you making such an impact in his life already? That’s why he made Eren and his friends pick up his cape. He needed to avoid you for as long as possible, needing a clear head and heart to save humanity, not pine over a random woman. He looked over the freshly fixed cape, admiring your handiwork. He could barely make out where you had sewed it back together. Your talent was a sight to behold and he was glad his intuition was right to put his trust in you. He placed the soft cloth into a drawer to wear another time and decided he needed some tea to clear his head. When he reached the cafeteria, he overheard the trio talking about you.
“That’s so sad about Ms. L/n’s horse. I wonder how she’s going to keep working without her,” Armin had said. Levi’s eyes widened slightly. Did your horse die that quickly? That would be bad news for you, personally, and him, professionally. He and the Scouts relied on you to come in half the week to do your work in the castle. There was no way you would be walking here and back, Levi would never allow you to put yourself in danger like that. He pretended not to listen, warming water in a kettle.
“I know. I feel bad for her, but there’s no way we can use the resources to keep traveling back and forth every time we need something fixed. It would be easier if she lived here.”
“Maybe if y/n lives here, you won’t have to do uncharacteristically nice things to spend time with her.”
Levi jumped at the sound of Hange’s voice unexpectedly in his ear. “Fuck off, four eyes. You almost made me spill my tea.”
Hange just laughed while Levi rolled his eyes. He hated to admit it, but Eren and Hange both had a point. If you worked for the Survey Corps, why wouldn’t you live with them? There was plenty of room here, it wasn’t like the place was overflowing with soldiers. He took his tea to go, finding solace in the quiet of his room. If Hange and the other soldiers wanted you to live here, fine. He just didn’t want to get involved with anything surrounding you. What did he care what you did, where you lived, what you spent your time doing? And where did Hange get the idea he wanted to spend time with you? Your meetings had been coincidental and ones of convenience. Whether or not you moved in with the Scouts, it would be of no matter to Levi. Like he thought before, he didn’t need another person to care about—you would die prematurely and leave him all alone, just like everyone else did.

“I love you.”
You know it wouldn’t end well.
You told yourself a million times, “Don’t expect. It will lessen the disappointment.” But as you sit there, side by side, shoulder to shoulder, and knees almost touching, with the one you need like water, there are no more expectations to break. It’s done. You’ve said it. You’ve let out those words that prick like thorns at the back of your throat, aching to be said longer than you can admit. Now, it hangs dead in the air, waiting to be caught—to be answered.
From the small distance between you, you can see his steel eyes glisten under the moonlight. You can see the dark lines under his eyes and the creases on his forehead. Life hasn’t been kind to the man you love. It never was to anyone. But if you could change one person’s fate, it would be his. You don’t know the extent of what you would give to lighten the load in his heart. You would give anything to have him smile, to have him laugh, and to have him live, that was your wish.
And yet, you know that by having done this, you’ve burdened his heart more.
His eyes bore into yours, a million words settling into his irises. Just like that, you were back to where it all started.
It started at stolen glances, cheeks heating up whenever his eyes meet yours. You tried to avoid his gaze, pulling yourself out of the trance it would give you. You wanted to get lost in them. But you know that having an eye for the Survey Corps soldier was a stupid idea.
There were things much bigger than the both of you, things that only he could do. Levi Ackerman is humanity’s strongest soldier. One of Commander Erwin’s greatest gambles in the war against the Titans. There was no room for you in it, a normal resident of Sina. You know that the expected fate for you is to accept a marriage from someone who can stay with you as long as you can live inside these walls while relying and waiting on the scouts’ mission to maybe end the suffering of the people in these walls. It’s what was taught to you for years. But as always, you weren’t one to listen.
You couldn’t help it. You couldn’t help but to shop on your own in the markets when you can have servants do it for you. You couldn’t help but to talk to the people there, asking them what new things they could offer you every time you were around. You couldn’t help but try out every new food and beverage you could find.
You couldn’t help but notice the timid and quiet man buying tea every third Sunday of the month. He would be there exactly at the time you first saw him and you would wait to see him, not even talk or be near him. You just want to see his face. He always looks tired. There were creases on his forehead that always seemed to be scrunched. His lips were either turned down into a frown or a straight line. Although he looked very neat with his long-sleeved white button and black slacks, his clothes don't seem to be of noble or great wealth. He doesn’t seem to be a servant or one of the workers from Rose.
He orders the same black tea every Sunday. The same one your father drinks every morning. It was rare and expensive, something about it being grown on a small plot of land protected here in Sina. You’ve tried it once out of curiosity but was not very fond of it. It was too bitter for your liking. But nonetheless, you thought that if the mysterious man had enough to spare for one canister of it a month, he must have enough of an income.
Eventually, he notices your stolen glances and thought you were suspicious. He cornered you in an alley one time on the way to the markets, having expected you to be there already. In fear and fluster that the man was finally in close distance, you sputtered out your apologies and told him the truth that you only found yourself being curious about him. He warned you not to do it again. You could only meekly answer an agreement.
In anticipation for the next time he came, you were fully prepared to offer another apology. Your next interaction would have to be better that time around, you thought as you have already carefully gone about your words and have been holding a canister of the same black tea he prefers. Unfortunately, he didn’t come by the next month. Still, you waited.
The month after that as you wait, it was running a bit late, and when you were convinced that you have officially run the man away from this market, you finally caught sight of the man you have been waiting for. He had the same tired expression on his youthful face, the same haircut that always seemed to be trimmed at the perfect length, and the same grey cold eyes. Except, this time, he wears a military uniform with an insignia you don’t see much on these walls—the wings of freedom.
You froze where you stood, just near the pop-up teashop. You see that someone strides closely behind him, towering over him with his upright posture and blonde hair. Of course, you know who that is. That’s Erwin Smith, the commander of the Survey Corps. People thought him to be the devil commander, ruthless and ambitious. And beside him is the man you’ve been following every month, a member of the military division that gets sent to their deaths every expedition.
But still, you approached them with a smile and introduced yourself. Erwin gives you Levi a glance after, one that you couldn’t interpret the meaning of. At first, you thought that Erwin didn’t particularly enjoy your presence there. But he gave you a smile and even pushed the smaller man in your direction. He even gave you a wink behind his back.
Since then, Levi, a wonderful name for a breathtaking man like him, continued to come back every month.
And here you are now, standing at the edge of a cliff from the pressure of accepting a marriage for convenience versus your feelings for the captain of the Survey Corps.
It was silent. Not even the sound of air whistling or the birds chirping can be heard in the dead of the night. You can only hear the sound of your heart beating. You can hear his heart in sync with his. You can feel his pulse as he closes a hand over yours. Not fast. Not slow. Perfectly balanced. His rough hands held your soft ones, caressing them with his thumb. Fond, caring, and comforting.
“It’s him, isn’t it?”
Carefully, he smiles. A painful one. If you knew that the first time you’d see him give you a smile like this, you would have never asked for it.
After spending a long time with Levi more than his monthly visits to Sina, you’ve come to learn more about him. You were his only friend outside the scouts and if he were to choose who he’s the closest with among them, you know he’d choose Erwin. He highly respects him and he told you how he vowed to follow the great commander to the darkness. And you know fully that what you’re asking of him will collide with Erwin’s decisions. He can’t be with you. He can’t love you.
Gently, two words come out of his mouth. “It’ll pass.”
They were not the three words you longed to hear. But you smiled back, holding back the tears with an accepting smile. He nods, smiling back as if he was convincing himself. It was there that you realized that he was saying it to himself more than to you.
There was another silence. But this time, it no longer holds the weight. And yet, you don’t feel any relief, no burden lifted, and no thorns plucked out of you. You could only feel his hand for comfort and you looked down on it once again, memorizing the veins on his skin as if it will be the last time you look at it. You trace your fingertips over them, blinking away the tears that seemed to fall without your consent. The blurriness in your sight that your tears caused is going against your purpose to capture his hand in your brain. You don’t want to forget him. Ever.
You would rather memorize his face and how he looked knowing one day, you might forget his face. But with his hand and the way he holds yours, you know that both your dreams and nightmares will be plagued by it. You want to see it. You want to remember how it felt to be loved like this—to be loved by him, even if he didn’t say it yet. You know. You always knew.
His forehead is close to yours and you can feel him trying his best not to make them touch, he’s hesitating—pulling away in fear that he might never want to break it. His lips are quivering and he draws them in tightly into a line to halt it.
You don’t know how long you sat there but somehow, Levi was able to pull away, mutter he has to leave, and stand up. He takes a few steps away from you before pausing, back turned on you.
You called his name, the ache in your chest intensifying as it rolled off your tongue.
“I’ll see you next Sunday.”
He turns around, the same pained expression on his face. The corner of his lips twitches up ever so slightly in amusement. Both of you know that things will never be the same again. You will never come to see him in the market and he will probably never come to buy tea personally again. But still, he nods and lets out an unexpected response to your statement.
“…I love you too.” It came out in a whisper but it was loud enough for you to hear. He looked into your eyes for a few more seconds before looking away entirely. Before he turned around, you see a single tear fall from his eye. You watch as he walked away until you could no longer see his form fade into the darkness.
It never passed. Not even as the truth about the Titans and the people outside was uncovered. Not even as you survived all that, somehow. Not even as you held your child from a man that wasn’t him, a gold ring adorning your finger. Not even as you saw him again, wounded, and being wheeled by two children. Not even as your eyes met his cold, gray one.
It never passed.
