[Riconti] The Long Con (part 3/6)
Where Felix's play-act (or lack thereof) continues to give Ace whiplash. Rated T | 3.7k words | ao3 link [previous] [next]
Ace found the group in animated discussion amongst themselves.
Unfortunately, he couldn't quite make out the words; he'd read up on his German before the trip and could understand casual conversation well enough, but the noise in the tent was getting progressively louder as the day went on.
"Ace!" Lauren was the first to notice him, making the conversation instantly die out.
Okay. No question what they'd been talking about, then.
"Sorry about that," Ace said as he took his seat, then grinned good-naturedly. "Meg seems to think she has to keep me out of trouble instead of the other way around."
The group chuckled—even Felix, which made Ace startle a little and look at him in surprise.
"I, ähm." Felix cleared his throat, then pushed a full glass of beer in Ace's direction. "We ordered another round while you were gone."
"You mean you ordered. For four," Lauren said pointedly.
"...Yes," Felix said, still intently staring at the drink. "But if you don't want it—"
"No, no, this is great!" Ace's wide smile wasn't even fake as he grabbed the large glass. "I had no idea what type to get earlier. I trust your taste much more."
Something in Felix's shoulders seemed to loosen at that. "Oh. Good."
Reading the expectant atmosphere, Ace brought the mug up for a taste of the new beer. Meg would no doubt have yelled at him for accepting drinks from strangers, but that was mostly something Ace had drilled into her head for her safety.
The beer was…okay. Ace's choice of drink was usually wine—man, he'd kill for a chilled glass of good Chardonnay right now—but this particular brand at least went down much easier than the swill Ace had bought at first.
“Hmm.” Ace licked some beer foam from his mustache. "This is actually really good."
"I'm glad," Felix said and then—oh god, he smiled at Ace, making him somehow even more handsome. "It's my favorite. It's, ah…it's very light compared to most beers here."
"Felix doesn't like beer," Lauren attempted to stage-whisper to Ace, but because of the volume required to be heard she almost ended up shouting it.
"A disgrace to all of Deutschland," Daniel added, shaking his head.
Felix's mouth pressed into a line as he stared at the two. Ace merely barked out a delighted laugh.
"Oh thank god, then I can safely admit I'm not much for beer, either," Ace said. "I almost asked the bartender for a wine list, but I figured that wouldn't go over well."
Lauren laughed, but Felix looked curious. "Really? What's your favorite kind?"
Ace was still reeling from Felix's sudden interest in him. "I, uh, I'm kind of partial to Torrontés—call it Argentinian pride, if you will."
Ace's joke only received confused looks.
"Oh, right," Ace remembered. "I'm originally from Argentina. I moved to the states about thirty years ago."
Ace mentally winced at the slip-up. He usually pretended to be younger than he actually was, but now they'd all be able to place him at around fifty. How difficult was it to say, "My family moved to the states"?
If Felix realized that, he didn't seem bothered. In fact, he was turning to face Ace even more. "Where in Argentina?" Felix asked.
"Oh. Buenos Aires area." Felix smiled at that, so Ace added, "Have you been?"
"No, but I want to someday,'' Felix said. "Back in university, I actually did a project on sustainable low-income housing communities. I used the slums of Rio and Buenos Aires as examples and I'd like to go one day, since I read so much about them."
Something strange twisted in Ace's chest. "You wanna go…to the slums?"
"Not—not just there." Felix fidgeted. "I'm sure Argentina and Brazil are beautiful countries with many sights to offer. It would just be interesting to see the cities for myself."
"The tiny house utopia is his long-standing passion project of his," Lauren butted in. "Of course, it's impossible to implement outside of a small scale in a handful of cities, and even then the target audience wouldn't be able to afford the houses."
"That's why I'm refining the idea,'' Felix stressed, like they'd had this conversation a hundred times before. "If the infrastructure was lighter, it could balance out the cost but still support the needs of—"
"U-to-pi-a," Lauren repeated. Felix narrowed his eyes.
Ace awkwardly looked between the two as a tense silence settled over the table. He might not know anything about house building, but the idea of Felix strolling through Ace's old stomping grounds with nothing but a thousand-dollar suit and hopeless optimism was hilariously absurd.
Ah, out-of-touch rich people. Never change.
Eventually, Daniel sighed. "I thought you weren't supposed to talk about work today."
"Oh." Felix looked at Ace, seeming embarrassed. "Sorry. We must be boring you."
"No, no!" Ace said. "I'll admit I don't know the first thing about architecture. I guess I just always thought the projects were more…"
Felix’s lip quirked up in a small smirk. "Pretentious?"
Ace chuckled. "Yeah."
"Architecture is universal," Felix said. "Everyone needs a roof over their head as well as schools, hospitals and libraries. And before something can be built, someone has to design it—whether that's a famous architect or the village lumberjack is irrelevant."
Ace blinked at the impromptu speech. This was all way above his pay grade; philosophical ruminations about saving the world didn't tend to come up when you were professionally fucking people over for money in order to scrape by.
"I've never thought about it that way before," Ace admitted.
That seemed to have been the right thing to say, because Felix smiled again and they all sipped their drinks in comfortable silence. The atmosphere was notably different from before—Ace still struggled to believe Felix had said so many words in one go—and Ace idly wondered if his lucky charm had actually worked.
"So…" Felix finally said. "You're a father?"
Oh. That was what had brought on the sudden change of heart? Seeing Meg walk up and sass her fake dad?
Admittedly, Ace had never played the "devoted single father" role to get closer to a target before, but he could work that angle.
"Yeah." Ace chuckled. "Though Meg's at that age where she'd rather be anywhere but seen with her old man."
Felix smiled brightly and Ace's face suddenly felt a little warm.
"And her mother?" Lauren asked. "Is she here?"
She winked at Felix in a way that was probably supposed to be sneaky but was anything but.
Felix sputtered, then hissed, "Stop that!" in German.
Lauren merely smirked, but Ace's confidence rose about tenfold. Felix’s best friend trying to set him up with a man was a very good sign in Ace’s favor.
"Oh, no." Ace laughed politely. "It's just me and Meg—has been for a while. Even if she's an adult, it's just…difficult for some people to understand that the kid always comes first."
Felix was eagerly leaning closer and Lauren was practically vibrating in her seat from excitement. Wow, they were really eating this shit up, huh?
"You guys have kids?" Ace asked, looking between Lauren and Daniel.
"I do," Felix said.
Ace physically recoiled in surprise. "Really?" he asked, the confusion in his voice entirely genuine. "You do?"
"Yes, a daughter." Felix smiled warmly. "She's six. Her name is Klara."
Ace struggled to picture this man as a doting father. He'd been so cold and disinterested, but now he was smiling softly and Ace could practically hear the fondness for his daughter in his voice.
"That's…that's great," Ace said dumbly.
It definitely was not; now Ace had to figure out if he'd been hitting on a married family man the entire time and Lauren was just fucking around. Had Ace missed a wedding ring? Dammit, he really didn't want a repeat of the shotgun incident.
Ace forced a chuckle. "Guess we have more in common than I thought."
"I suppose we do," Felix said.
There was a beat of silence where Felix kept smiling at Ace and Ace awkwardly grinned back, silently wondering if Felix was excited about a new dad friend or thinking about how to get into Ace's pants.
And then Lauren smacked her hands flat on the table and Felix startled and jumped in his seat.
"Well, I'm going for a cigarette!" Lauren loudly announced, moving to stand up.
Daniel frowned. "Since when do you sm—"
"And you're coming with me for company!" Lauren said, looking meaningfully at her husband.
"Ähm…should we move to another tent to wait?" Felix asked.
"No, no!" Lauren hurried to add. "We'll be right back. You two stay and brag about your daughters like proud single fathers."
Before anyone got a word in, Lauren was dragging her husband off.
Ace tried not to smirk as she watched them leave. That had been as subtle as a freight train, but at least now Ace knew that there was no wife-slash-husband waiting for Felix at home with a firearm in hand.
"So," Ace said, "you wanna start the bragging, or should I?"
Felix chuckled, seeming to relax again. "That's a risky offer. I've heard that once I start talking about Klara, I never stop."
"Well, fortunately, I'm stuck here for at least six more hours because of a concert my kiddo wants to see," Ace said, propping an elbow on the table and resting his head in his hand like he was in no rush to leave. "Do your worst."
"Alright." Felix was silent for a few seconds, then smiled. "Last year, Klara actually won an art contest in the local newspaper."
"Ah, an artist!" Ace exclaimed happily. "What did she draw?"
"She drew our house, and…" Felix paused. "Actually, I still have pictures on my phone, if you want to…?"
Ace grinned. "Bring it on."
═════════════ ♤ ═════════════
Felix really wasn't kidding about having a lot to say about his daughter. Over the next half hour, Ace saw what was probably a hundred photos of Klara; and sure, the kid was cute enough, but this was a little excessive.
Still, this was the most effective way to get close to Felix, so Ace played along: even asking questions and "aww"ing at the right places.
He also pretended not to be upset by the realization that he didn't have any pictures of Meg. Had it really been four years without them taking even one single ugly selfie together?
Most of Felix's photos were taken in the same expensive-looking living room, or a large garden with a koi pond—seriously, who the hell owned a koi pond!?—or with a backdrop or what looked like a goddamn mansion, and it quickly became apparent that Felix's house was even more fancy than Ace initially thought.
And probably ripe with more luxury watches and expensive knick-knacks for easy pickings, if only he could get inside it.
But that might be too greedy. Yes, Felix seemed to like Ace on some level, but inviting him home was a big step from sharing a beer and bonding over their kids.
"Oh," Felix said, abruptly glancing at his super-watch. "I've been talking for nearly half an hour." He looked up at Ace, eyes widening in realization. "I'm so sorry—"
"Hey, no!" Ace held up his hands in surrender. "I was the one who asked, and you even warned me beforehand. This is fun, keep going."
"I, ähm." Felix paused to drink some of his neglected beer. "I'd like to hear about you and Meg, as well."
"My turn to talk, huh?" Ace said. "I can do that."
Now, Ace didn't know that much about Meg's life before he met her, but it was easy enough to make up fake accomplishments. Getting A's in gym class ever since first grade; winning a few spelling bees; kicking Ace's ass at poker as soon as he taught her the rules; being captain of the track team in high school…
And Felix was eating it all up. The more Ace humble-bragged about his fake daughter's fake achievements, the more Felix relaxed and leaned further into Ace's personal space.
"She could probably get a sports scholarship to almost any college," Ace lied. "But I don’t wanna pressure her into it if she wants to do something else instead."
"That’s a good mindset," Felix said. "She’s lucky to have a parent like you."
Ace took a strategically timed sip of beer to hide his almost-snort. Yeah, Ace was dad of the year material, all right.
Unfortunately, he was also starting to run out of things to tell about Meg that didn't involve hundreds of petty crimes. Ace glanced at the still-empty seats across the table and decided that since there was a natural lull in the conversation, he might as well bring up the elephant in the room.
"Well, that is officially the longest smoke break I've seen," Ace said, gesturing at Lauren and Daniel's seats.
“Yes, um…” Felix fidgeted. "Maybe I should call Lauren?”
Crap; that was apparently a bad move.
"I mean, it's not like they don't know where to find us," Ace hurried to add. "If I still smoked, we could join them, but alas."
Felix perked up at that. "You quit?"
"Yeah, a few years ago." Ace shot Felix a lopsided grin. "Feels a little hypocritical to lecture your rebellious teenage daughter about the dangers of smoking if you're going through two packs a week."
Felix smiled softly. "That's a very mature way to think about it."
Okay, crisis successfully averted. This was almost too easy, as Felix still seemed extremely attracted to anything that involved Ace doing dad things.
Time to pull out the big guns.
Ace smiled ruefully and slid his thumb over his beer glass. "And after what happened to her mother, smoking in front of Meg felt a little… I'm sorry, you probably don't want to hear about that."
Felix looked interested and Ace spared a brief thought to recognize how messed up it was to use a dead woman's memory to manipulate a target.
But it wasn't like Ace hadn't already earned an express ticket to hell with the life that he'd led. He might as well embrace it.
And thus, Ace told the sob story about Meg's mother slowly losing the battle against cancer. For once, he didn't even have to color the events: just the truth was enough to tug at anyone's heartstrings.
"That's terrible," Felix said once Ace was done. His whole face was downcast, eyes swimming with sympathy. "I can't even imagine how it felt to lose a wife and mother who was so young."
Oh. Ace hadn't exactly planned to appear as a widower, but if it was working…
"I came out okay, I think—all things considered." Ace half-smiled. "I was more worried about Meg. She just…her entire world practically collapsed."
Ace's mind flashed back to seventeen-year old Meg, scrawny and scared and completely alone. He had to swallow a sudden lump in his throat; it looked like he wouldn't even have to bring out the crocodile tears for this one.
"I just…tried to be enough," Ace said, his mouth moving before he even registered what he was saying. "I know I can never replace her mom, but I can at least be there for her. Because I'm all she has left."
Ace bit his lip to shut himself up, something in his chest squeezing unpleasantly. He had to remember that Felix wanted the fake sob story of Ace being an amazing dad, not the ugly truth about crimes and homelessness and having no fucking clue how to take care of Meg or anyone who wasn't himself.
"And that's why we're here!" Ace said with fake cheer. "Meg's always wanted to go to Europe, she's old enough to drink now, and she used to listen to Kate Denson's music with her mom. This festival just seemed like the perfect fit."
"I'm sure she loves it," Felix said with way more earnesty than Ace's bullshit deserved. "It's nice that you're doing this for her. You're a good father."
Ace's face heated and something unfamiliar fluttered in his gut. It wasn't like he was a stranger to compliments, and it usually took a lot more than this to genuinely fluster him.
Maybe it was different to be praised for something he'd actually put a lot of effort into.
"Anyway, I didn't mean to bring down the mood with me and Meg's sad backstory." Ace grinned. "What about Klara's mom? Is she not in the picture either? And, god, please say your story is less depressing than mine."
Felix chuckled politely. "Ah, no, nothing that dramatic. We merely separated—almost five years ago, now." He winced, as if remembering something. "It turns out that having a child together is not the way to fix a failing relationship."
"Oof," Ace said in sympathy.
"We're on good terms now," Felix hurried to add. "I have Klara every other weekend. Which is…I would like to have her more often, but I work long hours. She shouldn't be alone while waiting for me to come home."
“Sounds like you’re alone without her, though,” Ace said.
Felix glanced at Ace with something akin to surprise. Then he looked down at the table, his posture slumping.
“It’s…not easy,” Felix carefully said. “To come home to a dark, empty house instead of Klara’s laughter. Every moment I’m apart from her feels like an ache deep in my soul.”
Ace felt a pang in his chest: a part of his shriveled, black heart somehow understanding the hurt Felix was going through. He might not ever have had young kids but the thought of starting a family, to love your daughter more than anything else in the world and only being able to see her a few days every month…it made him feel bad for Felix.
Ace shook the absurd thought from his head. Boo-hoo, poor rich boy, earning his millions at the cost of time with his daughter. Pull it together, Visconti.
“Sorry.” Felix grimaced. “That was pretty depressing after all.”
“Hey, I'm the one who asked,” Ace said, playfully bumping Felix's arm with his elbow. “And, technically, talking about how much you miss your daughter probably counts as bragging about her. So you're completely on topic, if you wanted to keep going.”
"No, that's alright," Felix said. "I think I've talked enough about Klara for one day."
"Alright, I'll ask again after a few more beers and you can gush some more." Ace winked, and to his delight, Felix's face pinked but he kept smiling. Ace tilted his nearly-empty glass at Felix. "Another round? My treat, but you'll have to place the order if you want anything that tastes halfway decent."
Felix's lip twitched up. "I think I can manage that."
Felix flagged down a lederhosen-clad waiter and ordered something Ace didn't even pretend to recognize the name of. Their beers arrived in record speed and Ace only died a little inside while waiting to see if his credit card would go through.
The payment, thankfully, went without a hitch, though Ace knew the balance on his card was fast approaching zero. It was pretty discouraging to realize that after several hours in a prime pickpocketing location, his net earnings amounted to a negative thirty-something euros.
But it would be worth it in the end. With a couple of Felix's watches or diamond cufflinks or whatever, maybe he and Meg could see more of the world without worrying about affording their next meal.
"Thank you for the beer," Felix politely said once the waiter left.
"Oh, no problem!" Ace said cheerfully, renewed with motivation. "It's only fair after you bought the previous round."
"But you don't even know if you'll like it."
"Well, only one way to find out." Ace raised his glass to Felix's. "Cheers—or what did Lauren say earlier? Prost?" Ace asked, deliberately pronouncing the word wrong.
Felix smiled. "Yes."
"Then, Prost!" Ace exclaimed, Felix following suit.
They drank some of their beers in silence. Ace barely tasted any difference to the previous drink, but at least this one was still cold, and that already made it better.
"This is really good too," Ace lied.
Felix side-eyed him with a conspiratorial little smirk. "For a beer, you mean?"
Ace huffed a surprised chuckle. "Damn, you see right through me."
Felix's smile widened before he went back to his drink. Ace did the same, figuring he might as well try to down most of it before it went room-temperature and gross again.
"About what you said earlier…." Felix suddenly spoke up. "I know what it's like. To doubt your skills as a parent."
Well, it looked like Felix wasn't done with their little heart-to-heart yet.
"Really?" Ace said. "Your kid was smiling in every single photo. I think she'd disagree with that."
Felix seemed to relax at that. "Maybe so. And, actually, she did make me…hold on, I'll show you."
Felix reached into his pocket and, with some difficulty since his pants were so tight (damn, Ace really had to sneak a peek of his ass in those pants at some point), fished out his keys and some sort of fluffy keychain hanging from them.
"Klara made this for me on her first day of kindergarten," Felix said, dangling the item between them.
The keychain was made of felt and had probably been a rectangle at some point, but now had pieces of fluff sticking up every which way. The main body of the item was a questionable shade of brown, with smaller bits of red and purple yarn randomly worked into it.
It was absolutely hideous.
"I was so worried she wouldn't fit in," Felix said, "and then she had the time of her life and even made me this." He fondly cradled the keychain in his palm, but it mostly looked like he was holding a piece of roadkill. "It's the first gift she ever gave me."
"That's cute," Ace said, trying very hard to sound impressed.
"I know, it’s…very ugly." Felix chuckled. "But she made it for me, and a father never forgets, hmm?"
Felix looked at Ace like they were sharing some sort of inside joke, and this probably wasn't the time to tell him that Meg's first gift to Ace had been a shoplifted new iPhone. Regardless, he'd been just as proud as Felix was now.
"Yeah," Ace agreed. "I know what you mean."

i think the american roadtrip as a manifestation of the vast is a deeply sexy concept. you’ve been traveling for hours and there’s nothing. it’s been empty for as long as you’ve been on the road. you look out in any direction and it’s just more of the same, that vast unchanging emptiness of fields or planes or empty desert to either side of you, the road stretching out infinitely in front of you, behind you. you can do nothing but marvel at the sheer vastness of the land around you, and feel like you can’t be much more than an insignificant little speck against the enormity of the world around you

Felinette Month Day 4: Vacation
Felinette Month Day 4: Vacation
Guys, College is kicking my ass. They are around mid-twenties and married because honestly, they’ve been together since collége.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday
“We should go on a vacation,” Marinette suggested to Felix. They were both at their home after they both returned back from work for the day and it was around 8 pm. They were both in their home lounge relaxing and enjoying each other’s presence, they were both on the couch with Felix sitting on the couch reading and Marinette laying on his lap also reading a book. Marinette was wearing a long sleeve satin wrap dress (here), she had come from her MDC fashion company, “Our companies are both in a good place, we both are in a good place, so why not have a vacation”
“Oh,” Felix responded. He was wearing a business casual suits (here), “And where would we go?”
“Let’s go back to Buenos Aires in Argentina,” Marinette suggested, “It could be like a second honeymoon for us”
“I think a second honeymoon would be nice,” Felix said thoughtfully, “When do you think we should go”
“Soon, we could plan it for next week since I am ahead of schedule for all my orders for about a month and your bank is also doing good with no troubles at all,” Marinette informed him.
“What if something happens in the week we aren’t here?” Felix asked concerned for leaving for a week
“Then we put Nyx in charge of both businesses,” Marinette told him, “She knows what to do for our businesses and not to mention she is a wonderful secretary without really being a secretary”
“Not to mention a pretty good bodyguard,” Felix said remembering the many times Nyx protected them from anyone harmful.
Marinette at this point had decided to get up from Felix’s lap and lean against Felix’s side instead. She closed her book and took ahold of Felix’s hand and held it while she spoke, “She does try hard to protect the family she gained to make up from the one she lost.”
“It was nice of you to make her your bridesmaid,” Felix said putting his book down and leaning against Marinette now rubbing his thumb on Marinette’s hand, “I think we should go on a second honeymoon, with Nyx in charge of the companies, even if something went wrong, she would take care of it”
“Then it’s settled will have a second honeymoon next week,” Marinette said getting up from the couch pulling Felix with her, “Will start planning tomorrow to leave on Sunday and return on Saturday. Now then let’s go have tea and then off to bed with us”
“We’ll have to sleep in on Monday to sleep off the jet lag since it’ll be a 14-hour flight,” Felix told her. Felix followed his wife still holding her hand all the way to their kitchen before letting go and letting her put the teapot on the stove.
“Then we’ll sleep in and get settled and then on Tuesday we can go out and enjoy our second honeymoon,” Marinette said slyly. They were both sitting down in their dining area that’s connected to the kitchen.
“True, we can even visit the…” Felix said before getting interrupted by the doorbell. They both looked at each other who would be visiting at this hour. They both headed to the door and opened it and were both surprised to see the person they were just talking about. Nyx.
“Hola, mis preciosos,” Nyx said as she walked in when they moved aside to let her in. Nyx then walked to the kitchen where they were just at. The two followed her and she begins to talk and place things on the table from her backpack purse, “I have come to drop off your plane tickets for Sunday morning at 9 am so you’ll arrive around 10 pm which according to the time difference it’ll be 6 pm over there and so I wish you luck with the jet lag. I booked you in Hotel NH Buenos Aires City in the presidential suite which has a wonderful view and it’ll be under Felix’s name. Also, I’ll have everything under control over here and Marinette here is a new sketchbook since I know you’ll get inspired by the places you’ll go, Felix, you won’t have to worry about anything I’ll take care of the businesses.”
Felix and  Marinette were both surprised at how Nyx knew their plans when they were both just talking about it. They just nodded along with what Nyx was saying as she continued to put things on the table. Felix needed to ask though on how Nyx knew about their plans, “How did you know what we were planning, we literally we’re just talking about it?”
“The cards told me you both wanted to go on a second honeymoon and that it’ll be the place you were for your first honeymoon so I just got things ready for Sunday, I did try to get you guys an earlier flight but I couldn’t so you got the 9 am instead, pack tomorrow and get ready” Nyx explained walking back to the entrance door with the couple following her again. She opened the door and was heading out when he turned to them to say goodbye, “Adios, mis tesoros, and the teapot will boil the second I leave alright, Adios *muah muah*”
As she closed the door the teapot did indeed start boiling and whistling. Felix and Marinette made their way back to the kitchen and prepared their tea. As they drank their tea they looked over all the things Nyx brought with her. They then got ready for bed and slept to prepare for their second honeymoon.
On Saturday they decided to check the weather and prepare for most of it. They also planned out on where to go for the five days they’ll be there. They packed for if it rains, the pool, sunny days, they prepared for a lot. They also made sure to have things for when Marinette gets inspired and wants to actually make the item she can.
Sunday
The day came when they were leaving for their second honeymoon. Nyx personally dropped them off and promised to keep their house clean. They both were in first-class which on the plane was two chairs on either side of the couple's bed. They got as comfy as they could on the chairs and enjoyed the airplane ride. They then moved to the bed to cuddle as Felix read a book and Marinette was just drawing. They spent the rest of the plane ride on the bed, being comfy and either doing their own thing or watching movies.
When the plane was getting ready to land they put away their things and got ready for the landing. After landing they called for a taxi and were driven to their hotel. They entered the lobby and saw how beautiful it was. The front counter was a nice color mixture of brown. The floor was marble and the carpet was the color velvet. The whole thing was just nice and calmly. They then saw that the clock said 7:46 pm  They quickly asked for their room and were given the key.
They made their way to the presidential suite. They opened the suite and noticed that the room was decently big, there was a table with coffee and wine glasses, a minibar, a sitting area, and the bathroom had a bathtub. The bed was tucked in the corner with the TV in front of it and near the window. They settled down and got into bed. They began to watch a movie when they both fell asleep holding onto each other.
Monday
The next day, they woke up around 11 am well rested but still sleepy. They had decided to stay at the hotel and called for room service. While they waited Marinette decided to shower and get dressed. For the day she wore a pink top, white shorts, red anchor earrings, red sandals, a white bracelet, and some sunglasses (here). Felix followed right after and got dressed in a white dress shirt, blue business pants, a brown belt, and brown dress pants. (here).
After they had their breakfast it was around 12:30 pm and they decided to walk around the city near the hotel. They took in the view and kept walking around talking about everything and anything. It started to get dark so they decided to go back to the hotel. They also decided to head to the hotel’s pool which was on the roof.
Marinette changed into an Aegean paisley bandeau one-piece with red flip-flops while Felix put on black swim trunks with black flip flops and they headed to the pool. No one was on the roof, it was just them so they entered the pool and begin talking.
“So, the first day of vacation,” Marinette started while floating next to Felix who only had his legs in the pool, “Is officially over and I enjoyed today”
“As did I, Mari,” Felix said as he got in more into the pool and held Marinette's head in his hand, “It was a wonderful suggestion to go on a second honeymoon”
“My Felix, My kitty” Marinette said leaning her forehead to his, “I love you”
Felix pulled her closer and whispered back, “I love you too”
Tuesday 7 am
On Tuesday they got up early and had decided to visit a cafe that was nearby for breakfast. So they both showered and Marinette put on a black crop top, pink shorts, black boots, pink and white hoops, and black boots (here). Felix was wearing a black shirt, black pants, tan work shoes, a black watch, and a dark green open shirt (here). They spent a good hour at the cafe since Marinette got inspired by the cafe’s vibe.
After they decided to head toward the theatre nearby as Nyx had bought tickets for Tangled the musical which was 1hr long. After that, it was around 9:40 am. They decided to visit the ice rink to skate as they did when they were younger. They skated holding hands and never letting go of each other, they would do tricks, they would skate along with the children, and they would dance when the skating rink put on music.
They had stayed at the ice rink for about 3 hours before leaving at 12:40 pm. So they moved on to go to get lunch at I Latina, a place owned by a friend of Nyx named Linda Hernandez, where they went to in their first honeymoon. They loved the food and enjoyed the company of the friend, they ended up staying there for about 3 hours catching up with Linda and Marinette sketching some designs based on the restaurant and Linda.
So when it turned 4:00 pm they bid Linda goodbye and had decided to head back to the hotel but by walking which would take them at least 2 hours. So as they held hands they began to walk and talk.
“This place is so beautiful” Marinette sighed
“It is, just like our first honeymoon,” Felix said
“Felix, do you remember when we first met?” Marinette asked him. She had grabbed his arm and was leaning on him as they walked.
“How can I forget, it was the day you transferred to my school since you were being bullied at your old school,” Felix said remembering that day, “I was the class representative and I had to show you around since Rosemarie was sick that day”
“And when we became friends by 3rd class you didn’t want to share me with your friends,” Marinette said smugly, “You wanted to keep me all to yourself.”
At this Felix began to develop a small blush before responding, “You were the second friend I made who appreciated silence when needed and noticed I had boundaries immediately just like Nyx. I also didn’t want our friends to scare you away”
“They didn’t” Marinette giggled, “I actually appreciated how they tried to make me feel welcomed. Especially after what I went through, though I did appreciate you hiding me behind you. I also liked how when it came down to it you guys protected me from my old class when they came to visit the school.”
“We will always be there for you, Marinette,” Felix told her. They had made it to the hotel without even knowing it since they both are fast walkers with years of experience, “For better or worse, in sickness and health I’ll be there when you need me”
They kissed and headed to their room when they arrived at 5:45 pm. They had decided to order room service and watch a romantic movie, To All The Boys I Loved Before, and then settling in for the night in each other’s arms whispering I love you’s.
Wednesday 9 am
On this day they had actually woken up late but they didn’t mind. They had showered and gotten ready with Marinette wearing a chiffon bandeau sundress, nine west’s karmic platform wedge sandals, a purple stretch bracelet with earrings to match. Felix was wearing black pants with a black belt, a black dress shirt, and black shoes. ( Mari and Felix ).
They had decided to head to the museums nearby so Marinette could get inspired by the artwork and Felix could talk about the paintings and artifacts. They quickly had breakfast and started making their way to the first museum that would only have paintings. They paid to get in and began to look around with Marinette getting inspired and Felix enjoying telling Marinette what he knew about certain paintings.
They left around 11:46 am so they decided that on their way to the second museum they would get lunch. So they headed back to I Latina and had their lunch, then they headed to the museum of the history of Buenos Aires at 12:46 pm. But as they made their way to the museum they ran into someone from Marinette's past they never had to see after her old class visited their school.
Alya.
Marinette never thought she would see the person she once called  ‘best friend’ but here they were. Alya quickly noticed them and made her way to Marinette and Felix, oh boy.
“Marinette, I can’t believe it, How have you been?” Alya asked Marinette. She was acting like they didn’t have a bad history, “It’s been so long”
Felix, when he saw Alya, had put Marinette a step behind him to protect her from anything Alya threw at her. Marinette squeezed Felix’s arm and held his hand to try and calm him down and to tell him that she was okay but she didn’t move from where she was, behind Felix.
“I’ve been good Alya and you?” Marinette asked calmly still holding on to Felix. She was also trying not to run away.
“I’ve also been good though for a while I had trouble getting a job,” Alya responded
“Oh, How come?” Asked Marinette but already knowing the answer. After the class visited her school the class was hit with the biggest karma, with a little help from Nyx, they would ever experience.
“Oh right you wouldn’t know, So it turns out that Lila was lying about everything the whole time and that she was probably not even Italian but she did come from Italy,” Alya explained and as she explained Marinette was becoming angry. “I mean who would have thought right but because she had lied about everything the Ladyblog took a huge hit along with my credibility”
“Yes if only someone had warned you, right Alya” Marinette hissed out making Alya flinch, Felix, who has been quiet in the conversation, had to squeeze Marinette’s hand to calm her as they wouldn’t want a scene to be created since they were still on the street, “I mean it's not like I tried to warn you”
This made Alya mad, “Girl, How was I supposed to know that you were right. Marinette, back then you would easily get jealous whenever any other person showed interest in Adrien who by the way is available right now if you wanna try getting with him”
Alya had a smirk on her face remembering all their plans of the girls trying to get Marinette together with Adrien. But when Alya said that Marinette got angry because she knew Alya might throw her jealous streak at her but got even angrier when she told Marinette of Adrien’s availability as though she wasn’t clinging to Felix at the moment.
“Okay, First of all, Alya, I was your best friend, you knew me, you knew that I didn’t like liars and I was trying to tell you on how I knew she was lying but at that moment you interrupted me, not to mention that I did try many other times before I moved schools. Second of all, Yes I did get jealous but you seem to have forgotten that even if I was jealous I also tried to help him with his crush Kagami,” Marinette raged and at the mention of helping Adrien with Kagami Alya flinched, “And third of all, I don’t care if Adrien is with someone or is available I’m already with someone”
At this Marinette raised her and Felix’s hand up for Alya to see but Alya then rolled her eyes and shook her head before speaking, “Marinette we both know you and whoever this guy is won’t last, now come on give me your phone so I can give you Adrien’s phone number then you can dump this guy and get the guy of your dreams”
This made Marinette pissed and Felix knew they wouldn't make it to the museum and instead will spend the rest of the day trying to calm Marinette so her kleptomania doesn’t activate since it always happens when her emotions become too much. But for now, he would be here for his wonderful wife.
“Alya,” Marinette began seething with anger, “Felix and I are married”
At this Alya’s eyes began to widen as she saw the rings on their hands. She gawked at finally seeing how they held onto each other before getting mad again, “Marinette, why didn’t you tell me, why wasn’t I invited to your wedding?”
At this Felix let out a scoff getting a glare from Alya but it didn’t faze him. Marinette also scoffed before speaking, “Because, Alya, my business is my business and you have no right at my life”
“Mari,” Alya began before being interrupted
“Don’t call me that,” Marinette said letting go of Felix and walking up to ALyas face making her take a step back, “Only my friends call me Mari”
At this Marinette turned and began to walk away leaving Alya behind her just like her past and with Felix following Marinette. They arrived at the hotel got to their room and Marinette began to cry letting out her emotions and finally feeling relief on that particular part of her past. Felix held her and let her cry it out knowing she needed this and knowing that she would feel much better after all this. They spent the rest of the day in their hotel room trying to relax.
Thursday
On Thursday they spent the whole day in their hotel room and the hotel itself relaxing after the day they had the day before.
They went to the gym, the spa, the pool, and the hotel’s restaurant. Doing their laundry and packing their things to prepare for Saturday.
Friday last day around 8:26 am
On their last day on their vacation/second honeymoon, they decided to spend the day walking around the streets and to just spend it outside so they showered and got ready. Marinette wore a pink multi strappy dress, a denim vest, brown ankle boots, and brown feather earrings. Felix wore a white short-sleeved button-up shirt and black lined shorts. ( Mari and Felix ).
They made their way to the Museum they didn’t get to the day before. Then they made their way to the theater again to watch another musical. They then went to the ice rink where they skated with the children again. They had lunch at I Latina saying goodbye and to come to visit Linda when they have time again. They went to the different shops that were around and got some gifts for their friends and a new suitcase to contain the gifts along with also getting survivors. As the day began to die down they made their way to a park that was near and was becoming empty as the night was coming through.
“Felix, My kitty” Marinette began with a smile on her face
“Yes, My bug” Felix responded also with a smile
“There was a reason why I wanted to go on this vacation /honeymoon,” Marinette said as they sat down on a bench. Marinette held Felix’s head in her hands she gave him a kiss before continuing, “I wanted to tell you somewhere special to us about something that will be special to us”
“What is it Marinette?,” Felix asked placing his hands on top of Marinette’s hands that were still holding his head.
“Felix,” Marinette began taking a deep breath, “I’m pregnant”
At this Felix’s eyes widened and before they both knew it he lifted them up from the bench and he lifted Marinette up spinning them around with Marinette letting out giggles and laughing before Felix set her down and giving her a kiss.
“Are you sure my Marinette?” Felix asked wanted it conformed.
Marinette could only nod her head yes as Felix kissed her again both just being so happy. They made their way back to their hotel room where they spent the rest of the night celebrating.
Saturday 7 am
On Saturday they had gotten up and showered and put on the clothes they came to Buenos Aires with. They made their way to the airport and when they got on they headed to first-class and prepared themselves to go back home.
As for the vacation/second honeymoon, other than the confrontation with Alya, they enjoyed it and they looked forward to extending their family with a new member in nine months.
LEEDS UNITED 2 ROTHERHAM UNITED 0 Leeds United: Peacock-Farrell, Ayling, Cooper, Berardi, Phillips, Douglas, Klich (Jansson 88), Alioski, Saiz (Baker 80), Hernandez, Roofe (Bamford 86). Subs not used: Blackman, Pearce, Harrison, Shackleton. My first visit to Elland Road of the 2018/19 season was a very positive one - second half goals from Luke Ayling and Kemar Roofe handed Leeds United a 2-0 victory over Rotherham United. There's been another summer of change at LUFC following the disappointments of last season.... In May, owner Andrea Radrizzani sold a 10% stake in the club to 49ers Enterprises, the investment entity behind American football giants San Francisco 49ers, and promised that their cash injection would be used to "improve results on the pitch". To underline just how much that extra investment is needed, Leeds United received £6.8M for finishing thirteenth in the Championship in 2017/18 and our 20 televised matches earned us a mere £914,000 - a total of £7.7M. In contrast, the three clubs that were relegated from the Premiership last season - West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Swansea - received about £100M from the Premier League and will each get a parachute payment of £42M this season. Radrizzani is a rich man, but doesn't possess the kind of wealth that would allow us to compete in the transfer market with these clubs (the stark reality is that about half the teams currently in the Championship can outspend us).... Not surprisingly, Paul Heckingbottom was sacked at the beginning of June, after a fruitless 5 months as our head coach. However, his replacement was a big surprise. On 15th June, Leeds United announced the appointment of the vastly experienced Marcelo Bielsa, who has previously enjoyed success as head coach of the Argentina and Chile national teams, as well as at club level with the likes of Newell's Old Boys, Athletic Bilbao and Marseille. When you think of the never ending conveyor belt of non-entities that we've hired and fired every few months since our exit from the Premiership all those years ago, it's incredible that we've managed to make such a high profile appointment. Bielsa officially took up his role on 25th June and immediately made sweeping changes to the coaching staff, bringing in his own assistants as well as translator Salim Lamrani (Bielsa doesn't speak English). As soon as last season ended, social media was awash with rumours about Leeds signing any number of players who in reality were way out of our reach. It took a long time for any incoming transfer activity to materialise, and there have been many more departures than arrivals over the summer. Matthew Pennington and Pierre-Michel Lasogga returned to their clubs after their loan spells came to an end. Madger Gomes, Felix Wiedwald, Andy Lonergan, Marcus Antonsson, Luke Murphy and Ronaldo Vieira have all left on a permanent basis (the latter joined Sampdoria for a fee of around £7M), and Lewie Coyle, Pawel Cibicki, Jay-Roy Grot, Tyler Denton, Paudie O’Connor, Mallik Wilks and Hadi Sacko have all been sent out on loan. Several other senior players - Vurnon Anita, Eunan O’Kane, Caleb Ekuban, Ouasim Bouy and Yosuke Ideguchi - are still at the club even though they've been told that they're surplus to requirements. On 30th June, Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker became Leeds United's first signing of the summer transfer window on a season-long loan. Four more players arrived in July - goalkeeper Jamal Blackman (also from Chelsea on a season-long loan), left-back Barry Douglas (a permanent signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers), midfielder Jack Harrison (a season-long loan from Manchester City) and striker Patrick Bamford (signed from Middlesbrough for £7M - the most we've spent on a player since our Premiership days). Our squad was also boosted by the return of Mateusz Klich, who was written off and loaned out last season, but featured prominently in our pre-season games. Tyler Roberts is also finally available after recovering from an injury sustained in training almost immediately after signing for Leeds in January. The new season began with a home fixture against promotion favourites Stoke City - a team that's been on the Premiership gravy train for the last decade and has a squad that, on paper, is infinitely superior to ours. The Leeds team included only one of the new signings - Barry Douglas - and lined up in a 4-1-4-1 formation with Kalvin Phillips playing in a new role in front of the back four, which included Gaetano Berardi also in a new role at centre-back. Klich started in midfield because Adam Forshaw was injured and Roofe was preferred to Bamford up front. Bielsa announced before the game that Bailey Peacock-Farrell would be his first-choice goalkeeper.... To say we surprised Stoke with Bielsa's brand of high tempo, high pressure pass and move football would be an understatement. Leeds ended up winning the game 3-1, with goals from Klich, Pablo Hernandez and Liam Cooper (Stoke's goal was a dodgy penalty that should never have been awarded). It was a fantastic start and a magnificent performance that the same players would not have been capable of last season.... We continued the momentum with an even more impressive 4-1 victory over Derby County away from home. A much-changed Leeds line-up then beat Bolton Wanderers 2-1 in the first round of the Carabao Cup, and we've been drawn against Preston North End in the next round. Rotherham came to Elland Road aiming to contain us, kept everyone behind the ball and wasted as much time as possible right from the start. Bielsa began the game with the same players that had dispatched Stoke and Derby. We dominated possession throughout but found it difficult to break Rotherham down in the first half. Although our passing is way better than last season, we did still make the odd mistake that could have been costly - including a suicidal ball from Cooper across his own area to Peacock-Farrell, which was easily intercepted by a Rotherham player who would have scored but for a brilliant block by our young goalkeeper, who looked very assured and fully deserved his clean sheet. A long range shot from Rotherham also hit the post. At the other end Ayling, Klich and Berardi all came close for Leeds.... United began the second half very much on the front foot and were noticeably quicker about getting the ball upfield. Ayling soon put Leeds ahead with a diving header from a Douglas corner, following up efforts from Roofe and Cooper. There was some debate about whether the ball had crossed the line before being cleared by a Rotherham defender (who appeared to use his hand) but after several seconds of deliberation the ref pointed to the centre circle - thumbs up for goal line technology! After that it was a much more open game in which we created several goal-scoring chances but had to settle for only one more goal, which came in the 68th minute. Some lovely passing at the edge of our area led to Phillips launching a long ball over the top which was picked up by Roofe, who beat a defender and finished powerfully from a tight angle. In summary, another excellent performance - the players look 100% fitter than last season, their work rate on and off the ball was impressive and they all seemed much more comfortable on the ball. Roofe is starting to look like the finished article as a striker, with great support from Samuel Saiz, Gjanni Alioski, Hernandez and Klich (who has been a revelation). Berardi and Phillips also seem to have grown as players in their new roles. I don't want to get carried away, given that we also started last season very well before sliding down to our usual position in mid-table, but the Bielsa era already looks like it could be very exciting. In 2019 Leeds United FC celebrates its centenary, and it would be awesome to finally get back to the top flight in our 100th year. However, there's a long way to go and - as we're talking about LUFC - plenty of opportunity for things to go wrong between now and the end of the season...
