Will I ever expect Nintendo writing a Ganondorf who's trying to break the curse and end the cycle? No. I simply think their faithful adherence to the nature of fairytales about the knight rising up to face evil and save the princess is simply that strong. It's a classic (in the most literal sense cite Perseus and Andromeda). It's why I don't believe in a playable Zelda until I see it with my own eyes.

While the earnest nature of providing interesting spins on this millennia old formula is rather endearing, I would welcome earnest breaks in turn as well. Yet until I see it, I simply won't be holding my breath for when it comes.

#no slight to anyone wanting either thing in totk but 35 years of narrative precedence is pretty strong #that being said if you ask me my ''dream Zelda game'' much of the plot involves something regarding either one #i think a zelda game where the king of hyrule is zelda's elder brother. a game where link and zelda have long since been married #and the main villain isnt ganon but say an invader of another kind.#but ganondorf is present. a young traveling mercenary informed of his fate to become the king of evil and trying for a cure from that fate #zelda is not taken but an active participant; frequently joining link traveling around hyrule or breaking off to buy more equipment #and do some scouting of her own #it has botws exploration but maybe some linearized pieces of development like a dungeon thats a fortress wall blocking off parts of the map #random encounters against Ganondorf who's time is running out and desperately trying to find zelda #until the two of you are travelling and he ambushes you.#you can lose and must rescue her from his lair. you can fend him off. or you can defeat him and track him down #the first has minimal changes to the ending of the game. the second has a surprise ganon fight. and the third reveals a quest #one where he explains his plight and help break his curse #and in the end the three of you face the villain side by side #i think that would be a cool game #zelda #legend of zelda #tears of the kingdom #totk #loz

Thank you for the kind words!!! Currently not working on any fics, since I just came out of 10 weeks of summer research where my days began at 8 am and ended at 9 pm for probably less than minimum wage hahaha (doing research is a Bit Sad but I get a whole month to relax before classes start again so thank goodness for that)

Finally working on Homuncular Nature again!! I definitely do have a lot of plans and cool scenes playing out in my head for the next chapter, it’ll just come down to when I actually put pen to paper (or stylus to iPad) to actually organize and write them all. The road block I think is that I have seen neither Albedo nor fmab very recently and all my concrete ideas are for around the 30 episode mark for fmab, the turning point with the first actual confrontation against father and the subsequent Briggs arc.

Rewriting Ten Thousand Maple Leaves! A lot of people have been very kind but I think I missed the mark with my first chapter to be honest. My writing has gotten a lot wordier and less succinct, which feels like I’m filling a chapter more with fluff and unnecessary description than actual content. I think I also dislike how I characterized Sanemi and how quickly Kazuha was willing to agree with things. Writing both of them is kind of a difficult challenge tbh! I think in rewriting it I want to give back to Kazuha more of his vagrant role in the games, where he is avoiding the law for reasons somewhat out of his control.

Ebisu siblings content! I think it might be fun to try having them interact with more of the canon characters in kny but I also think there’s some value in a complete sort of outsider point of view when inserting characters into a piece of media. I feel like whenever I see self inserts I see a lot of ocs making themselves indispensable and making meaningful relationships with existing characters that way and that’s totally valid! That’s a lot of what I do for crossovers as well. I think when it comes to my own ocs though, I want them to feel grounded in some form and the reality of it is that none of the characters I make based on myself or real people are that impressive or remarkable. But I also think there’s a lot of value in showing smaller scale things outside of the main interactions and plot to show that even though we aren’t remarkable, we still have our own meaningful connections and ideologies and stories :) in the end the Ebisu siblings are a lot more visual though so I may just continue making doodles and art without writing anything haha

Kirby & Meta Knight ageswap AU: I was mostly doing this on my ask-gikabi sideblog in short form comics, but I lost sight of what I wanted to do after making the discord and starting to interact with some of the people who followed it. I think a lot of people are inspired and have their own very cool ideas that I wanted to take into account but then eventually it was no longer my story or the story I wanted to tell, which is why I’m thinking of restarting it as a fic. This one is still in very rough idea stage though, I have honestly no clue how I’m even going to begin organizing it

Yanfei ace attorney crossover: this one’s just pure crack lmao I would definitely write it as crack taken seriously but I think this is fun to explore just for small ideas that pop up every now and then, i.e. yanfei is semi-immortal because she’s half adeptus so it would be Really Funny to me if she showed up in dgs era, got her attorney’s license, went into hiding after it became obvious that she wasn’t aging, and then re-emerged after rebranding herself as her own daughter or granddaughter. That, and I have a lot of fun imagining someone as pragmatic as yanfei trying to get through the sheer chaos of aa despite being otherworldly

Continuing winter weather advisory: I got to a really good point in that fic and was rereading it today like,,, damn I wrote that? And it would be fun to see where I planned on going with it so I do want to also try working on that a bit if I can

Kazuha & Kunikuzushi role swap au: this is something I posted about a Long While ago but it’s an idea I continue to be fascinated with :) I especially enjoy how these two characters could have had completely different roles and personalities depending on how their pasts happened (with wanderer being so nice and turning so bitter and kazuha growing up so spoiled (for lack of a better word) and turning out so weary and yet kind

Link click and mha crossover: this one is honestly just a very recent idea but I think it would be fun to make a drabble on how lightime photo studio would be able to continue operating even in another world and the trouble they might get into for illegal quirk usage and what using cheng xiaoshi’s powers in a world where being able to tell the future is canonically possible would entail

I have!! So many ideas!! And not enough time or motivation to actually write any of them most of the time :’)

#i was walking to get a haircut earlier and i'm pretty sure i saw the guy i went on a date with back in June #i think we made eye contact and he was mouthing something? couldnt tell what or if it was a hi...#i was kinda in my own world with music and being on the phone so since i wasn't expecting to see him it took a min to register lol #walked up the block some thinking 'that was just Taylor right?' then turned around but dont think he did #it was one date but it was a really nice one and i've thought about him here/there #he wanted us to still be friends and i said i'd like that but he hasnt reached out--tho i did see him viewing my IG story recently #wondering if i should message him wondering if it actually was him but hmmm... iunno lol #has been kind of on mind since though #ore no inochi #reminds me i probably should get back to rewatching cardcaptor sakura which he got me doing lol #but for us now living in the same neighborhood for about 6 months i'm surprised we've only now possibly bumped into each other lil #*lol #[...i don't think i ever ate the ben & jerrys ice cream i bought at a bodega with him lol]

One of my favorite bits of CR trivia is that the Bat knew about both Janomiya and the identity of Torayamachi's "Horse", and chose not to tell Juri about either of these things.

The big fight between Torayamachi and Ryuugasaki in Part 1 would've gone very differently if Juri had known that there was a secret faction plotting to assassinate her and Yuna, and if she and her girls knew to keep an eye out for Hikaru. At the very least, Juri wouldn't have gotten sucker-punched by Ao's axe and rendered out of commission for a few days.

But no. Rather than share any of this vital information with her leader and potentially give their gang the upper hand, the Bat was like "fuck this little bitch I hope she dies"

#it's not even a joke; the bat really did want juri dead #she tried to convince ao to hand over janomiya so they could go kill juri together #so i'm not surprised that she's actively trying to sabotage juri's power by keeping this stuff to herself #magia record #bat of monzenbashi #the most info juri gets is ranka telling her ''apparently torayamachi lost their horse''#(i assume the bat shared that with ranka since nobody else but yuna knew who the horse was)#but that's like. bare minimum secondhand information. no details.#honestly kind of useless #also i love the potential implication that ranka has to play messenger because the bat hates juri too much to speak to her directly #i mean... she does outright call juri a dumb bitch so they're probably not on great terms with each other

why is it that in my Trek fandom experience people always only talk about how Kirk and Spock are opposites??? 🙄 when this book gets it. Good first weeks of their acquaintance~

I’m also just gonna copy something I wrote a while ago, but never posted, since it’s related:

Kirk is very serious, no-nonsense, by the book, and in some ways cold, and holds everyone at an arm’s length.

Which is why at the beginning of the series, it’s actually Kirk who McCoy argues with directly. He’s trying to connect him to his humanity and melt some of his cold and logical demeanour. McCoy also approaches him "on the most intimate personal levels” (this is actually a quote from ST Writers’ Guide, not me lol), making sure that Kirk won’t get lost, that he won’t do something he would regret. As a human. As a person.

But obviously, McCoy knows nothing about command and command decisions. Spock does. And Spock’s thoughts and ideas are actually pretty similar to Kirk’s own. That’s why Kirk searches him out, that’s why he asks him for opinions even when he doesn’t have to because it gives him “emotional security” knowing that this logical Vulcan agrees with his chosen course of action. If Spock does, it means it’s right. Spock being his XO allows Kirk to take some things more lightly, to be more reckless, to open himself up more as a captain. (The idea that Spock calms Kirk down is so ??? to me.)

If Kirk goes too far he knows there will be two people who will stop him and catch him and bring him back to the correct path. Not just one. Both of them. That’s why every time he goes too far, it’s both Spock and McCoy who confront him. Not just one of them. (and when he dies neither is there, which is actually very poetic, and I love it worked that way, even though it wasn’t planned)

When McCoy sees that Spock’s logic has the ability to influence Kirk, and even allows him to become more open, he starts to argue with Spock and ceases to challenge Kirk, because next to the Vulcan XO, Kirk can be just a little bit more human (with a different XO, Kirk wouldn’t be able to do that. When Mitchell was still alive, Kirk had to keep his bravado and serious mask up, he wasn’t allowed to truly open up. Only the combination of McCoy and Spock at his side allowed him to do it, because McCoy, in contrast to Mitchell, also knows when to not rely on emotions because he is a surgeon and he needs to be able to turn them off in order to do his job well. And when he sees that Kirk gets too emotional, McCoy is able to bring him back. Mitchell would only encourage it.)

And today’s addition:

maybe this “I can be more human because of Spock” is also why Kirk focuses so much on “you seem quite human, we’ll make a human out of you yet, his soul was the most human” because he wants him to free himself, because he knows personally how hard it is to kill a part of himself...
