Church of Santa Maria and Convent of the Concepcionistas , Viveiro (No. 2)

It was built in 1725 by will of Mª de las Alas Pumariño and it was ruled by cloistered nuns. The gate and the main access to the convent are remarkable. Their delicious pastry can also be bought here. Inside, there is a large three-floor cloister with arches on the ground floor (18th Century). It is a beautiful chapel open to worship, with beautiful tombstones and other artistic elements. The Grotto of Lourdes is a recreation of the French one in honour of the Virgin; it was built in 1925. The numerous wax votives offered in gratitude for human and animal healing stand out.

The Monastery of La Concepción, is a monastery located in the historic center of Vivero, Galicia. This religious building is governed by the Order of the Immaculate Conception.

This monastery is of Romanesque style and since1982 it is considered together with its surroundings as an asset of Cultural Interest, within the catalog of monuments of the historical heritage of Spain.

It is a convent of Renaissance design, built in the seventeenth century. Its façade contrasts with the Romanesque apse of the church of Santa María del Campo, located in front of the convent.

The interior of the convent church contains the tomb of its foundress, María de Alas Pumariño. On the outside of it was built, in 1925, a replica of the grotto of Lourdes, in imitation of the existing one in France. This image is highly venerated by the people of Vivaria.
