How To Propose
Summary: you and Chris discuss getting engaged.
Pairing: Single Dad!Chris Evans x Actress!Reader
Part of Mama
Tumblr media
“Hi, Mama,” Chris said softly.
You sat down next to him on the couch and asked, “what are you thinking about?”
He sighed and put his arm around your shoulder. You leaned into his side and get comfortable. He can’t help but kiss your hair line.
“I’ve been thinking about a lot,” your boyfriend said.
“I can tell— you’ve been in your head a lot lately especially when it’s just the two of us,” you admitted.
“I’m sorry,” he said.
“Don’t apologize. I just want you to talk to me even if isn’t a complete thought or it’s complete nonsense,” you said.
He smiled and kissed the top of your head. You snuggled up against him more. Your hand found the spot over his heart.
“My mother wants us to get married,” Chris whispered placing his hand over yours.
“So does mine,” you whispered looking up at him.
“You wanna get married?” Chris asked softly.
“Only to you,” you whispered.
“That’s good,” he said.
“It is?” you said.
“Yes, it is,” he said. “I only wanna marry you.”
“This better not be the proposal,” you said sitting up and looking at him.
“It’s not—,” he said sitting up straighter.
“It doesn’t have to be huge or this grand gesture,” you said.
“Simple. Got it,” he said squeezing your hand.
“But not too simple and- and no signs,” you said.
“Alright,” he said.
“And it’s gotta be a surprise. I don’t want any hints— oh! Oh! You gotta be down on one knee,” you babbled. “Unless you’ve hurt your knee then I- I don’t want you to.”
“Anything else?” he teased.
“No restaurants and not in front of strangers. It’s- it’s gotta just be us and the kids or just us,” you added.
“Got it,” he said.
“The- the ring— I don’t want it flashy. I- I don’t want the diamond to be huge,” you said. “I want it to be something I can wear everyday.”
Chris smiled and pulled you back to him. He kissed your hairline.
“Don’t worry. I got it, Mama,” he said.
“And this conversation never happened,” you said.
“What conversation?” Chris asked.
You smiled and tilted your chin up. He gave you a kiss to your lips.

Fuck It Friday
Good afternoon! It's technically Saturday here but shhhh! We've got a small continuation of Eddie and Buck post Shannon's death in Single Dad au today! Pls enjoy
Tagged by @cal-daisies-and-briars @watchyourbuck @steadfastsaturnsrings @daffi-990 @hippolotamus and @wikiangela thank you my friends!!
Eddie looks like shit.
It’s obvious he’s been crying; his eyes are red-rimmed and puffy, and he’s got that kind of far away, glazed look in his eyes of someone who’s not all quite there. He’s got a hand on Christopher’s shoulder and Buck can tell from the way his knuckles are white, that he’s clutching onto Christopher for dear life.
And Christopher, man, the kid looks so small next to his father. He looks scared and confused, like he’s not entirely sure how they ended up at Buck’s place and Buck reckons the kid is just here for the ride. He looks not dissimilar to Carrie did 5 years ago and Buck’s throat constricts painfully at the memory.
“Hey,” he says softly, letting go of Carrie’s hand to place it on Eddie’s shoulder and squeeze tight.
“Hey,” Eddie replies. His voice sound far away, like an echo.
Buck steps back, letting them through the door, and bends to help Christopher out of his shoes because Eddie’s just standing there swaying lightly as if there’s a breeze. Buck gets it, he really does.
“Carrie,” he says softly, drawing his daughter and Christopher close to him, “why don’t you take Chris into your room. You can show him your new Switch game?”
Carrie shakes her head and takes Chris’s hand, squeezing it quickly before gesturing for him to follow. “I wanna show him Momma.”
Buck’s heart clenches, but he lets them go, watching as Carrie guides Christopher to the backyard, keeping her hand between his shoulders as they walk. He hears Eddie let out a breath and looks up just in time to see him slump forwards.
Buck stands up quickly and grabs Eddie, pulling him into his arms and holding him so tight he worries he’s going to break a bone.
“Hey, hey it’s okay, I’m here. I’ve got you.”
Eddie lets out a strangled noise as he buries his face in Buck’s neck, his body shaking as he sobs. Buck lets him cry. He holds him, one hand pressing into the small of his back as the other cups his neck, and he sways the two back and forth.
Eddie pulls away after a few minutes, sniffing loudly, a horrible, snotty noise. “I’m sorry,” he chokes, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand, “I should be better.”
“Eddie,” Buck says softly, clasping his shoulder and angling his head so Eddie has no choice but to look him in the eyes. “Your wife just died. You don’t need to be anything right now.”
At that moment, Lily, having initially followed her sister and Chris into the backyard, came padding quietly towards Buck and Eddie and reached up to tug on Eddie’s pants.
“Eddie?”
Eddie looked down and gave her a watery smile. “Yes, mi princesa?”
Lily holds her arms up, giving him a small taster of her puppy eyes that have caused Buck to fold like a deck chair a number of time. “Hug?”
Eddie chokes out a laugh between sobs and lifts her into his arms, sighing heavily as Lily settles her head on his shoulder and threads her fingers through the short hairs on the nape of his neck. Usually she does this to calm herself down but today, Buck can see his daughter is trying to bring Eddie a semblance of the comfort she gets from his hugs.
“You’re sad, Eddie?” Lily asks quietly.
Eddie nods, swallowing hard. “Yeah, baby, I’m sad.” He cups the back of her head with his hand, running his fingers through her long, blonde curls, and sways them back and forth, almost in a little dance.
“Daddy says we need to make you feel better. Do hugs make you feel better?”
This time Eddie’s laugh is more genuine. “Hugs always make me feel better. Do you think we should get your Daddy in here?”
Lily perks up at this idea immediately and lifts her head off his shoulder, holding her arm out for Buck to join.
“Come on, Daddy!” she insists, making grabby hands towards him and Eddie, the fucker, with his watery eyes and snotty nose, grins and opens his arm for Buck too.
“Yeah, Daddy, come on.”
With a playful eyeroll, Buck steps into Eddie and his daughter’s embrace, holding them both tight. It’s a little awkward at first, trying to juggle Lily so she’s not being squashed between the two men, but eventually they get there with Lily sitting on Eddie’s hip, one arm around Buck’s neck and the other around Eddie’s, and her forehead resting against Buck’s as she pulls him closer. Buck’s nose brushes Eddie’s ear as he lays his head on Buck’s shoulder.

or single dad ari with babysitter reader 😵‍💫🥴
he finds out your are a virgin or sees you ending a phone call crying because your boyfriend broke up with you. lots of fatherless behavior
Lots of fatherless behavior per usual </3
His daughter is asleep and your balling, knees curled up to your chest, handing trembling, your phone not even close to your ear but you can still clearly hear your shitty now ex boyfriend yelling through the speaker. You can’t even get a word out, just sitting there letting him gaslight you and blame you for everything he has done.
You have lost perception of time, forgetting Ari will be back in five minutes and as soon as he hangs up you stare into blank space, trying to digest all of the bull shit your boyfriend for was longer than necessary has spewed at you angrily.
When Ari quietly walks up to the couch and sees yourself shaken up state he instantly is concerned. You see him and immediately anticipate you’re in trouble, you’ve gotten used to being put down, accused, denounced, almost everything so you start repeatedly sob apologies.
“I’m sorry, s-sorry. I’m sorry Mr. Lev-Levinson… I just— I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” you ramble, not even comprehending what is coming out of your mouth.
He lets out a big sigh, kneeling down besides the couch to be on the same eye level as you. “Hey, hey, there’s nothing to be sorry for, no need to apologize.”
“I’m sorry—”
“No more apologizing, alright, honey? There’s no reason for me to be mad at you,” he soothes, reaching out to tenderly wipe the stray tear off of your hot cheek.
He asks you if you want to come over for dinner tomorrow not for babysitting and that’s when you start start talking about your nonexistent sex life and shitty ex boyfriend.

The Nanny, Chapter 1
Word Count:  1.1k
Warnings:  angst
Tumblr media
“You’ll get through it, Jak-“Jake stopped what he was doing and glared at his younger sister.  He knew that she meant well, but he wasn’t ready to hear the same rhetoric that his mother had been telling him.  He just wanted to come downstairs.  He wanted to get out of the room he and Dev shared for a while.  Stephanie frowned.  She gave him a sympathetic look and petted his soft, fluffy hair, “Jake…I didn’t mean it like that.  You know that, right?”
He sniffled and shrugged, trying to turn his own emotions off so that he could grab something to eat and disappear yet again, “Doesn’t matter how you meant it, Steph.  That’s how it came out.”
“Well I’m glad that you’re out of your room…”
“The pillows don’t smell like her anymore…” he admitted, the reason to get out of his space for a second settling in the air.  He’d lost Dev just a few months ago, but already most of the traces of her within the home she’d bought had been removed.  Weeks after the funeral, Steph and his mom had agreed to come and clean out her belongings, knowing that seeing them only made Jake more depressed.  The pictures that had her in them were removed from the walls, leaving just bare spaces amongst the once homey set up of the living room, “it feels like I’m losing her all over again Stephanie…I-I don’t know what to do.”
“Oh…Jake…” his dad said in a surprised tone as he walked into the kitchen, “I didn’t think you’d be coming out of your room, today.”
“DADDY!”
Jake’s heart broke as his daughter came scurrying past his own father and attacked his legs.  He scooped her up, needing the reminder of his departed loved one, and she wrapped her little arms around his neck, “Daddy I’m glad you’re feeling better.  Gampa said you weren’t feeling good.”
“Yeah…daddy’s still not feeling too great,” he admitted sadly, trying not to cry in front of her, “I’m sorry baby.”
“I make it better,” she giggled, clearly unaffected by the situation.  She reached forward and pressed a few sweet kisses to his forehead, “better daddy?”
“Perfect, bug.” He sighed, sniffling a little bit more.  His heart was overwhelmed at how his sweet little girl was by being so caring.  That coupled with how much she looked hike Devon was almost too much for him.  She was like her little mini-me, and it made his heart ache looking into his little girl’s eyes.  Because it made him miss her all the more, “I think I might ju-“
“Daddy, daddy, guess what?” she asked, quickly cutting him off.
“What?”
“Uncle Cougar is coming over today!” she giggled excitedly, “daddy, he said he’s going to bring me and bubby a surprise.”
“Is that so?”
“Uh huh!” she smiled, “Daddy it’s gonna be the bestest day ever!  I bet mommy swooped down from heaven to make you feel better for my birthday party!  And uncle cougar sa-“
“Your birthday party?”
Jake felt his heart shattering a little bit more.
He’d forgotten all about his daughter’s birthday, much less throwing together a party for it.  Stephanie must have noticed his hesitation as she put a hand on his shoulder, “we got it taken care of Jake.  The back yard is set up and all of her little friends were invited from school.  I just figured that you heard the noise and came out of your room.  We didn’t mean to bug you.”
“Happy birthday, bug.”
“Oh, daddy it’s the bestest birthday ever,” she repeated, re-wrapping her arms around him, “I prayed and prayed for mommy to swoop down and make you feel better, and she did.  Mommy’s a really good angel, daddy.”
“She is,” Jake said sadly, “Mommy is the best angel.”
“Come on, Bri,” his father said quickly, trying to break up the tension and sadness, “let’s give daddy some time to have some coffee.  We’ll go finish decorating the back yard before your friends get here.”
“Daddy, come help us decorate!” she asked, turning her attention back to him, “gampa and gamma don’t really get the streamie things like you do.”
“I-I will in a minute,” Jake stuttered, trying to keep from crying while his daughter was still in the room, “go with gampa…I’ll be out in a sec.”
“Okay daddy,” she sighed.  She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek before allowing her grandfather to pull her out of her father’s arms, “I love you, daddy.”
“I love you too, Bri-bug.”
Jake watched as his father stoicly until both he and Bri were pushing out of the house and into the yard.  Stephanie immediately rushed her older brother, and he broke down in her arms.
“Hey…it’s okay, Jake,” she cooed, trying to comfort him, “h-hey.  Hey, calm down, Jake.  It’s okay.”
“I forgot about Brianna’s birthday, Steph,” he cried sobbing against her, “what kind of father am I that I forgot my little girl’s birthday?”
“A father who just lost his partner,” she said quickly, rubbing his back, “you just lost Devon a few months ago, Jake.  You’re still in the middle of your grief.  I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like.  Things slip through the cracks when you go through something that traumatic.  You can’t blame yourself for that.”
But Jake’s tears fell heavily down his face, despite his sister’s words.
“I forgot her birthday, Steph.”
“Your fiancé just passed away, Jake.”
“Briana is-“
“Briana is smart.  She understands, Jake!” she said quickly, cutting her brother off, “she understands that you’re sad.  She understands that you haven’t left your bed much.  She wants to go in and see you all the time, but mom doesn’t let her come in, because she doesn’t want her to have to see you like that.  You and her little brother are the only family she has left.  She-“
“Alex?  Where’s Alex?” Jake asked, cutting his sister off, “I hav-“
“Mom has him and Hannah outside.  They’re fine.”
Jake felt like he was releasing a breath that he’d been holding, “h-he’s okay?”
“He’s an infant, Jake,” Steph shrugged, “him and Hannah barely know what’s going on ninety percent of the time.”
“But he’s okay?”
“He’s okay, Jake…”
He nodded, “S-so they’ve been okay without me?”
“Hey…I know where that head of yours is going….” Stephanie trailed off, a frown working its way onto her face, “those little rugrats need their father, Jake.”
“Yeah…I jus-“
“Come on,” she began quickly, cutting him off, “Lets go help mom and dad finish decorating.  Briana has been putting glitter all over everything all morning…and someone needs to keep that girl reined in.  She’s every bit a Jensen, and mom and dad can barely keep up with her.”

If I tried to get inside you, I’d split you in half in the process.” His eyes flicker down, and your nipples are pebbles against the thin, easily-rippable fabric—you’re testing him, and he’s failing. “Goddamn it,” he hisses underneath his breath. “That - that shouldn’t turn you on.” Bristling, he drops his hand and pedals backward—he’s on his last thread, and it’s his sole chance to make a clear-headed decision. (Boxer!Steve Rogers)

Summary: Eddie and Evan used to be single parents, but not anymore. Now, alongside (Y/n), they're co-parenting their kids, Chris and Lottie, and are about to move in together.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
"Are you okay? You've been looking at your phone every five minutes," Evan pushed his weight down onto the pull-up bar, swaying his feet back and forth in the air for a few seconds before he dropped down to the floor.
"I'm just… my boy likes it when I pick him up from school, and I'm not, so,"
A gentle smile formed on Evan's lips as he watched Eddie wave his hands about before he settled them back on his thighs and stared down at his phone. It was a look Evan had worn quite a few times over the past year, one he wasn't used to seeing on anyone else.
"So, you're hovering?"
"I guess. He's got a new home and a new school, and now it's not always me getting him from school. It's a lot to get used to, and it's just us now." Eddie tried to smile but he couldn't find it in himself to do so, it was too hard contorting too many muscles when all he wanted to do was sigh and go home. "Doing this alone ain't great- I don't expect you to understand,"
Pulling away from the weights, Evan wiped his hands on the towel before he plonked himself down next to Eddie on the bench in the gym. He leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees, tilting his head to the side to look at his new work partner with a perplexed look.
"You're not the only single dad here, you know." Evan tried really hard to keep the snarky tone out of his voice but he couldn't quite manage it.
Something inside him told him to be protective, put his defences up around someone new. Someone who didn't know Evan like the rest of the team. But if they were going to be partners, they may as well open up and share a few things.
"You have kids?"
Evan reached into his back pocket and pulled out his phone, tilting it so Eddie could see his lockscreen. "That's my baby girl," A calmer, more soothing tone came to Evan's voice and he cracked a smile when he looked at the picture. It was a more recent picture, he had only just changed the lockscreen. For the past year and a half the picture had been the same. The picture Maddie took of Evan the first time he held Lottie.
Now she was a bit older, Evan finally changed the photo to a selfie of them both where he finally got her to grin at the screen after almost twenty minutes of trying to take a good photo of them both.
"She's sweet… sorry, I uh, I didn't think you…" Whatever way Eddie worded it, he was going to sound rude. When he looked at Evan, he didn't think of him as a dad, but then again people probably thought the same thing when they looked at Eddie.
"No one here believed me when I told them, either. And I get it, being here is hard when you just wanna be home, and when you're all they have… it's tough."
Part of Evan still had a tiny, miniscule bit of anger towards the team, despite how much he loved them all like his own family. He was angry that after working with them for three months, none of them took him seriously when he said he was going to have a baby. And Evan understood why. He had fucked around a lot since before he started at the 118 station and he couldn't remember half the girls he slept with.
So when Leigh turned up on his doorstep and said she was pregnant, Evan hadn't been as thrilled as he should have been.
But he thought the team would have been more considerate and he had blown up when they acted like it was a joke.
"Her mum's not in the picture?"
"Nah, I'll admit I wasn't great at the time, I fucked around and I thought I was careful… Lottie proved me wrong though." He clasped his hands together in his lap and bowed his head. "My ex wasn't happy. And you know I tried, I went to the scans, I sorted my shit out and I was there when Lottie was born. But Leigh left. She seemed to take one look and just… just decided she didn't want her. But I did."
Evan knew if Leigh had the choice, she wouldn't have chosen Evan to be her baby's father. He barely remembered her name when she showed up on his doorstep, he didn't even remember that he'd brought her back to his apartment- more than once.
From the moment she told him, Evan cleaned up his act. He tried harder at work, he stopped sleeping around from the moment Leigh showed up. He attended all her appointments and he had been there when Lottie was born. Maddie made him do a DNA test, she didn't trust Leigh but when it came back positive Evan didn't care. It could have said he wasn't Lottie's father and he would have kept her anyway.
When she was in his arms, his world slotted into place. And Leigh's world fell apart.
"One week later I had sole custody and I haven't seen her since."
It had been the right thing for all of them. Evan wanted his daughter, Leigh didn't and they just drifted immediately. After one week, Leigh was certain a baby wasn't what she wanted in her life. She signed all the papers and Evan didn't have a contact number or a forwarding adress, and that was how he wanted it. If she didn't want contact, Evan would make sure Lottie knew that all she needed was him and her aunt Maddie. No one else mattered.
It was just the two of them against the world.
"Buck?" A tender smile flitted across Eddie's lips as he leaned over the back of the sofa and looked down at his partner. He clasped both hands on Evan's shoulders and pressed a kiss to his temple, jolting him back to the waking world. "If you need some sleep, go in the bunker room."
"I- no, that was a two minute power nap, I'm good." He groaned through the words as he pushed himself up so he was sitting upright instead of slouched down on the sofa. He had barely nodded off for five minutes, his watch proved it. He didn't mean to fall asleep, he just got comfy, slid down and then he was out.
"Aren't you getting enough sleep at home?" Eddie jested as he slouched down next to him on the sofa and took a gulp of coffee.
"Not when Lottie's coughing her lungs up in my ear I don't."
He usually slept like a log and Lottie was at the stage of sleeping fine through the night. Until four days ago, when she got a chest infection. Since their trip to the doctor, Lottie had been sleeping in Evan's bed and she only managed to sleep when he wrapped her up in his arms and snuggled her against his chest with a blanket. And then she would cough and splutter and wake herself up, going into fits of tears.
She fell asleep properly just two hours before their morning alarm and screamed when Evan told her he had to go to work and she was going to spend the day with Maddie.
He hated leaving her when she wasn't well and she made it impossible for him to leave. Now he was regretting not calling in sick and just spending the day in bed with Lottie. It would have calmed his raging nerves to know that she was tucked up safe with him and that she was alright. Being at work just made him panic that she was getting worse without him there beside her.
"Chris used to get a lot of infections. In the end he'd just spend hours in the bath, the hot water worked best for him."
"Do you remember the last time you were round my house at bath time? My daughter somehow believes she'll get sucked down the drain." Evan had never heard his daughter scream as much as she did when bath time was over and it wasn't even in a tantrum or protest.
Lottie had a horrible fear of going down the plug, she thought as soon as the water started to disappear that she would also get pulled down the drain and be lost in the pipes forever. Either Evan had to get her out the bath first, or he pulled the plug and risked her launching herself on him and harming them both so she could get out as quickly as possible.
And she wasn't even three years old yet.
"Then it's a good job my place has a shower," Eddie grinned around his coffee cup and drained the last drops while he jabbed his elbow into Evan's side in jest.
In about two weeks, Evan, Lottie and their partner (Y/n) would be moving in with Eddie and Chris. It was going to be a big step for all of them and a change for the kids.
Chris couldn't remember the time when his parents had lived together, it had been years and he was only a toddler when Eddie and Shannon split up. And for Lottie, all she knew was Evan. No one else had ever lived with them, she had her dad and that was it. Now, Lottie was going to go from having one parent to gaining two more. She adored Eddie and she seemed to attach to (Y/n) whenever they were in the same room, but living together was a new experience for everyone.
Eddie's last relationship was his marriage and that ended horribly. (Y/n)'s previous relationship hadn't been enjoyable and she had never lived with any of her partners before. And Evan had lived with only one girlfriend before and that had lasted all of three months before he found out about Lottie and the relationship ended on the spot.
All three of them were praying this move would be the right choice for everyone and that it would go smoothly.
"Buck… I think you have some visitors,"
Evan's hand found Eddie's knee and he gave a light squeeze before he leaned his head over the cushion, rapidly looking around to see where Bobby was. He found the Captain at the top of the stairs, smiling as he pointed over his shoulder to signal where the visitors were.
He could feel himself livening up as he jumped up from the sofa and headed over to the stairs. There weren't many people it could be visiting him and he had a sneaking suspicion it was his daughter. A bubble of panic burst to life along with adrenaline in Evan's stomach at the thought of it being Maddie and Lottie turning up. That had to mean Lottie was getting worse if Maddie was bringing her down to the station to see him.
He scooted past Bobby, trying not to trip as he hurried down the stairs towards his sister who was just walking past one of the trucks.
She was smiling at him which was a good sign and calmed down one of Evan's many nerves. She had Lottie's bag on her shoulder and the two year old bouncing on her hip, clinging to her as she coughed into Maddie's neck.
"Hi babygirl,"
The moment Lottie registered Evan's voice cooing at her, she lifted her head and her pale lips pulled into a smile, briefly obscured by another cough. She stretched her arms out and whined, bashing her feet into Maddie's stomach and back until Evan was close enough to scoop her up.
He flashed his pearly whites, grinning like a shark when he picked her up and reeled her into his chest like a fish on a hook. His large hand smoothed up and down Lottie's back, rubbing soothing circles to try and help ease her cough. Evan could feel her nimble fingers scrunching up in his shirt and she smothered her face against his exposed neck, bending his collar out of her way so she could breathe crackling breaths into his neck.
"Poor baby," Evan mused with his lips meshed into her wild sandy curls that resembled his own. His nose ruffled her curls and he turned his head, squishing his cheek against the top of her head as he started to sway her side to side.
When his eyes locked on his sister, he could see the exhaustion on her face and it made him feel bad. He definitely shouldn't have come to work today. Lottie played up for anyone but Evan when she was ill. If she was her usual self, she would be a Godsend, never made trouble or put a toe out of line and she loved spending time with Maddie. Just not if she was sick.
"How's she been?" He wasn't sure he dare ask and when Maddie pursed her lips and raised a brow, Evan winced.
"Mostly coughing and crying which wasn't a problem at all… it was the screaming when I tried to use this that nearly made her pass out." Fumbling around in her bag, Maddie found the inhaler and spacer that had caused such havoc between her and her niece.
"Oh dear."
When Evan took Lottie to the doctors a few days ago, they could see how congested she was and how hard she was finding it to breathe. So the nurse suggested trying an inhaler but with how young she was, she would need a spacer to go along with it.
A spacer was a plastic tube that the inhaler slotted onto and once the inhaler was pressed, the tube spaced out the steroids so Lottie could inhale it much slower rather than one bout of medicine all at once.
But it did look frightening. She barely let Evan use it with her and when Maddie tried, all she did was scream and say her aunt was being mean. She acted as if Maddie was trying to hit her with it or as if it was full of poison that would kill her instead of make her feel better.
She needed to use it to feel better, she had barely been breathing due to coughing so much. And when she started to scream, her little face went red and she fell down, lightheaded and close to passing out. The only thing Maddie could think of doing was bringing her to the station to see if Evan- or possibly Eddie- could get Lottie to use it. He always managed to calm her down and she knew an hour with him would settle her enough until he finally came home from shift.
"Pass it over, I'll give it a try." He leaned his chest back, tilting Lottie further into his chest so he could reach out and take the inhaler and spacer. Hiding it behind his thigh so Lottie wouldn't see. "Come on baby, let's go watch tv while Maddie gets a drink."
Evan looked over at Chimney, then back at his sister. He knew if he took Lottie for a bit and gave Maddie a break, she could have a drink with Chimney while Evan tried to work his magic on his daughter.
He kept his lips pressed to Lottie's head, smiling to himself when she started to mumble 'daddy' over and over into his neck. His eyes locked with Eddie when he got upstairs but the moment Eddie clocked onto the inhaler, he whistled and raised a brow as he passed to go towards the kitchen. On his way past, Eddie pressed a quick kiss to Lottie's temple, muttering a round of 'good luck' to Evan on his way past.
"You're not sitting with them?" Hen leaned around Eddie as she watched Evan move towards the sofa in front of the tv that was blaring out the latest news. She thought Eddie would have sat with them and made the most of Lottie's visit before they had to get on with their work.
"Oh I'll be able to hear her scream just fine from over here," He dumped his cup in the sink and leaned his forearms down on the kitchen counter. Arching his back out as he looked over at his partner across the kitchen. He wasn't standing close if Lottie was going to try and use her inhaler.
When Evan first tried to get her to use it, Eddie had been on the phone and Lottie had screamed so much Eddie thought he had gone deaf. He heard her call Evan a meanie and cry and wheeze until Evan was almost crying that she was about to turn red.
Eddie would rather wait until Evan had tried his luck with the inhaler before he went to sit with them for a little while.
"Alright babygirl, deep breath for me." Evan sat down on the sofa, hiding the inhaler behind his feet as he perched Lottie on his lap. He pressed a hand to her back and one to her chest, feeling her crackling lungs when she tried to inhale deeply, ending in a cough.
Lottie tilted her head back to look up at Evan, wheezing and tensing her shoulders to try and smother another cough. Her eyes were already watering from the need to cough and she looked paler than she had this morning when he left her. Just looking at his poorly girl made guilt rack up in Evan's stomach and sent him reeling.
"Alright baby, you need to have some medicine."
Evan pursed his lips as he glanced over his shoulder, catching sight of Hen, Bobby and Eddie all looking at him with smiles and nodding his way. They weren't going to help, only spectate.
He lifted Lottie up and set her down next to him so he could slide off the sofa and kneel down on the floor in front of her instead. She tucked her legs up beneath her and held onto her little legs, leaning back and forth as she continued to cough and croak. Her tiny button nose crinkled at the end and she shivered.
Her little eyes stayed closed for a few moments which was long enough for Evan to clip the inhaler into the spacer but once Lottie opened her eyes, she paled and leaned back.
"No! No daddy."
Evan predicted Lottie would try to swat at the spacer which was why he held it up above his head, out of her reach. He held his free hand out and gently grabbed her hand as he shook his head.
"Hey now, I thought you liked magic?"
"S'not magic. Nasty, don't want it,"
"It is magic because it will help you breathe better. Come on, be a big girl. Look, I can do it." Evan pretended to press the inhaler and pressed the spacer against his nose and mouth. The last thing he wanted was a deep breath of steroids he didn't need but he would happily play pretend if it got Lottie to go along with him.
He told her it was a toy when she first saw it and pretended to speak into it so she would do the same. But when he pressed the inhaler and she took a deep breath, it tickled her throat and made her chest ignite. It helped, she had enough air to scream at Evan and she didn't trust him after that. Every day since, Evan had to bribe her to try and use it and it was trial and error with her.
Lottie shook her head and leaned as far back into the sofa as she could until Evan reached his arm around her and pulled her back towards him.
"No!"
Eddie winced and hid his grimace behind his hands that were clasped together in front of his face. He could see the pain in Evan's eyes from this distance when Lottie tried to scream but all she ended up doing was slouching forward with a horrid gargling cough.
"Please babygirl? Come on, where's Lottie gone?" For a brief moment, Evan pressed the spacer near his eye, acting as if it was a binocular he was trying to look through.
That was enough encouragement for Lottie to lean closer, apprehension vivid in her eyes but when Evan asked where she was, curiosity got the better of her.
As quick as anything, Evan pressed the inhaler and puffed out his chest, trying to get Lottie to copy him and take a deep breath. He held his breath and puffed out his cheeks that curved into a grin when Lottie tried to breathe into the tube. Her eyes snapped closed and her small fingers scratched into Evan's arm as she tilted her chin down into her chest and squirmed. The deeper breath she took, the more her chest hurt and tickled and it felt like something was physically expanding her lungs for her.
But it helped. She coughed before taking a crackling breath and itching around in Evan's arm until she could push the spacer away. Her head flopped forward onto Evan's shoulder and she curled her arms around his bicep, clinging to him as she took deep breaths.
She felt his arm coil around her waist and his large hand engulfed her hip so he could pull her up into his chest while he kissed the back of her head.
"See? You're so brave. One more for me, just one more then you can go see Eddie, hmm?"
Evan balanced on his heels, feeling a pain burning in the back of his calves from crouching for so long, shifting from his toes to his heels. He kept his left arm around Lottie, holding her against his chest and shoulder and wrapped his right arm around his front until the spacer was near her face. He would gladly cuddle her and hold her close if she would try the spacer again. If he could get her to use it tonight before she went to bed it might help them both sleep better.
She tilted her head from side to side, grumbling and whimpering until Evan pressed the inhaler and held it as close to her nose and mouth as he could manage.
It didn't quite cover her mouth properly and Lottie clenched her hand around Evan's hand that held the spacer, preventing it from completely pressing into her face. She breathed as quickly as she could, inhaling half of the air she was supposed to from the spacer but it was enough for now.
"That's my baby, all done. Good girl," Evan placed the spacer down on the coffee table behind him before he scooped Lottie up in his arms and stood up.
He let her bury her face between his shoulder and chest and curl her legs around his broad chest. Her arms tightly cocooned around his neck until Evan had no choice but to lean forward or have his neck snapped. He kissed the top of her head and pressed his free hand to the back of her neck, smoothing his thumb up and down her cheek as he walked over towards the kitchen.
"See? Didn't I tell you she was brave?" Evan bounced her on his hip, raising a brow when Eddie reached forward to take her. He wasn't so eager when she was screaming but as soon as she returned to the little doe-eyed girl, Eddie was all for her.
"Hi Lottie-cake," Eddie kissed the top of her head, wearing a broad grin when she easily slid from Evan's arms and into his.
He missed having a toddler. He had missed out on a lot of Chris's early childhood and it had taken a lot of trial and error after Shannon left, but Eddie wouldn't have it any other way. Getting together with Evan and (Y/n) had been one of the best things to happen to Eddie. And he got another child in this new relationship. A little girl to spoil, which was exactly how everyone felt when they met Lottie.
"And she's asleep." Eddie wasn't sure whether he was insulted or proud as he looked down and realised her eyes were closed and she was breathing evenly into his neck. He could feel how croaky she was and little grumbles and huffs left her lips every now and then, but she seemed very settled.
"Can you stay like that for the rest of the day? Pretty please?" Evan slumped himself down onto the counter and ran his fingers through his hair while he looked lovingly over at his boyfriend.
Couldn't Eddie just stay at the station for the remainder of their shift and hold Lottie? If she was sleeping in his arms like that, she might just get a good rest and feel a bit better. She would wake up as soon as Eddie let her go and when she realised Maddie would be taking her home soon, she would start crying and screaming again.
"I wish. Go sweet-talk Cap and see what he says," A proud smile lit up Eddie's face and he leaned his hips back against the counter, smoothing his free hand through Lottie's mess of curls. He couldn't resist kissing her head and he started slowly swaying from side to side, lightly bouncing Lottie in the crook of his elbow to try and keep her settled and drifting off to sleep.
Evan knew one thing for certain, he wouldn't be at work for the rest of the week if she continued to be this sick.
***
Eddie hummed a quiet tune at the back of his throat to try and keep himself awake, but he could feel his eyelids flagging and his view of the bathroom was starting to blur and become obscured.
He coughed and let out a small grunt before he went back to humming and looked down at the little girl in his arms. Every few seconds, Eddie jostled his arms up and down, moving Lottie up and down while he kissed the back of her head and hummed into her hair.
He trailed his lips down to kiss her cheek and tilted his neck so he could check and see if she was still awake or not. She had suddenly gone rather quiet in his arms.
It had to be sometime around one in the morning.
This was the first time Evan, Lottie and (Y/n) were staying the night with Eddie and Chris. They were all moving in next week so they were doing a trial run for two nights to try and get the kids used to being under the same roof and see how things went.
The night would have gone a lot smoother if Lottie still wasn't down with a chest infection. She loved her room here which was almost finished and she had been so tired she fell asleep during the movie with them all in the living room. Evan put her to bed and every hour or so, one of them checked in on her.
The three of them actually managed to go to bed and get two hours sleep. Then Lottie woke up.
She had been crying and coughing so Eddie gave her some medicine but she suddenly started to croak and wheeze and then she could barely breathe. He had resorted to the bathroom to try something new. Eddie filled the sink with boiling water, put some vapour drops in the water, lathered Lottie in vapour cream to try and clear her airways. And now he was holding her over the sink, getting her to breathe in the steam to clear her chest.
He thought she would scream at him like she did with the inhaler, but the steam seemed to help straight away. Her coughing got worse but in a good way, it was deeper and allowed her to take proper breaths.
Almost twenty minutes Eddie had been doubled over the sink with Lottie in his arms and he felt like he could sleep standing up. But she was keeping him awake on his toes, if he stopped bouncing her in his arms for more than ten seconds, she would whine and bat at his hand to make him continue.
"Atta girl Lottie-cake." He spoke quietly, grinning when he realised she was asleep. Her head lolled onto his bicep and she snuffled, croaking as she dozed off in his arms.
As gently as he could, Eddie lifted her and turned her around in his arms until she was settled on his chest. Her head fell just beneath his chin and she slumped against his upper chest with her palm pressed over his collar bone. Eddie left the sink full and turned off the light, he was too tired to deal with it now when he could tidy up in the morning. After they all got some sleep.
"You can come sleep with us," Eddie kissed the top of her head and made his way to his room. He knew what would happen if he put Lottie down. She wasn't fully asleep yet and if he woke her whilst trying to put her in her own bed, she would start to cry. It would be easier to let her stay with them tonight and try her in her new room again tomorrow.
When Eddie padded back into his room, he carefully eased himself back down onto the bed, making sure Lottie stayed motionless against his chest. He laid out on his back next to (Y/n), inhaling slowly to adjust to the new weight on his chest. Lottie snuggled up until her head was pressed right beneath his chin near his Adam's apple and her arms secured around his neck to keep him close as if he was going to try and escape.
A smile worked its way onto his face when (Y/n) pressed her face up into his shoulder and draped her leg over his, rubbing her foot against his lower leg.
"Goodnight,"
***
"Come on, breakfast is ready!"
Evan jolted forward when a pair of hands grabbed his shoulders and nudged him until he moved off balance. His eyes snapped open and he gasped as he rolled from his side and onto Eddie's chest, promptly scaring his partner awake in the process.
"Breakfast!" Chris whined again, nudging Evan until he groaned and ran a hand up and down his face to try and wake himself up.
"W-what time is it?"
"Where's Lottie?" Evan pressed a hand against Eddie's chest and pushed himself up until he could sit up in bed. He ran his fingers through his hair while he looked around the bedroom. Early in the morning he remembered Eddie going to check on Lottie so he and (Y/n) didn't have to and an hour after that, Eddie found Lottie snuggled in bed with them.
Every now and then when she coughed, Evan had reached out to rub his hand up and down her back or kiss her temple if he could reach her. She had climbed over all three of them, moving between who she wanted to lay with.
When Evan's words sank in, Eddie's hands moved to his chest that suddenly felt light and empty. Lottie kept coming back to lay on him during the night, he hadn't realised she had left the room. And so had (Y/n).
"They're making breakfast."
"Alright, we're coming," Eddie pushed up, stretched his arms above his head and climbed out of bed behind Evan. It seemed like the girls had gotten up and got breakfast sorted while the rest of them stayed in bed. Chris's hair was all over the place and he was still in his pyjamas.
A grin took over Evan's features when he padded into the kitchen, still rubbing his hands over his eyes to wake himself up.
There was Lottie, perched on the kitchen counter beside the fridge, a teddy in her arms and (Y/n) stood beside her with a spatula in hand and plates of food all served up around her.
"Morning girls, what are we making?" Evan wrapped an arm around (Y/n)'s waist and reeled her into his side like a fish on a hook. His bare chest pressed up into her back and he tucked his face into her neck, pressing a tender kiss there just to feel her shiver against him.
His free hand moved out to cup Lottie's chin and he brushed his thumb across her cheek, smiling when she grinned up at him.
"Bacon and eggs."
"Buck… aren't you forgetting something?" A smirk flooded Eddie's face as he picked Chris up for a morning hug and leaned across to put the kettle on to make some coffee. He watched his partner tilt his head and frown in confusion that mixed in with tiredness.
Reaching out, Eddie grabbed the spacer and inhaler from the counter and waved it over at him. He grinned when Evan's jaw slacked and his shoulders slumped before he dropped his face back into the crook of (Y/n)'s neck and curled around her like he was pretending to disappear.
Morning and evening, Lottie needed to be encouraged to use the spacer until her infection cleared and she wouldn't let anyone but Evan use it.
He smiled shyly into (Y/n)'s neck when she turned her head to press a gentle, wet kiss to his forehead. They all knew he needed to be more awake and alert if he was going to bribe his daughter to take her inhaler. Breakfast would have to come first to ensure he woke up.
He was glad they all had the next three days off together.
Ohmygod! How did all the readers react to Chris being sexiest man alive?!
Shy was like “I’ve been telling you this whole time and I knew it. And it took them long enough to realize.” She did make him a cake. A sweater she made him actually made it into the photo shoot and into the magazine. Chris made sure she got credited for making that sweater.
Snowboarder cringed because that’s her dad. He’s a fucking meatball. He isn’t sexy to her. He’s a handsome dude on some occasions but nothing more. She had a buddy film her reaction which is her screaming and launching herself off a cliff. Don’t worry, there’s snow below and she’s already broken her arm.
Traumatized Daughter just had a long sigh. This wasn’t something she was expecting to happen.
Star Wars Actress was throwing him a party and was claiming “THATS MY MAN!” while Presley is like “THATS MY DADDY!”
Roomie sent him flowers with a crown and a little note that says congrats.
Model bought a bunch of magazines. Made some calls to have some of the photos blown up and framed. She’s in the process of making sure that every single one of the properties they have will have said photos. She’s also planning a big celebration on that Friday. She is gonna spoil her golden retriever.
Popstar Evans laughed because excuse me, what? That’s her brother. He’s a handsome man but sexy? That’s fucking disgusting. She does send him flowers. Henry sent him a bigger bouquet and put on the card “you fucking did it, you son of a bitch. I’m so proud of you. xoxo - your one true love.”
Haley Dunphy rolled her eyes.
BFF Kard was like “I FUCKING TOLD YOU AND YOU DIDNT FUCKING BELIEVE ME!” Plus she knew a long time ago. She knew the second he got the call. She was at the shoot. She posed him a couple times. She fluffed his hair. She gave him pep talks. She made him laugh. She composed an outfit.
Love of his life was like “and you come home to me? People’s Sexiest Man Alive?” She couldn’t believe it.
Pageant Star put a crown on his head and said, “there’s my sexiest man alive.” She had a big smile on her face.
Mama didn’t realize until a week later. She had been busy with kids and she’s been working her ass off too. She hadn’t been on social media. Also, Chris never mentioned it to her when they talk nor anybody else. She’s on the Kelly Clarkson Show to promote her latest project when Kelly tells her “congratulations on your husband being crowned the sexiest man alive last week.” Mama said “what do you mean?!” Then the magazine cover is on the screen. She literally said “what the fuck?! He didn’t tell me shit!” She walked off set and got her phone from her manager. She proceeded to call Chris. She was sent to voicemail. Kelly is laughing hysterically. Mama said “you knocked me up. —-First, you wormed your way into my life with Jackie. You then knocked me up. Trapped me! You dragged my ass to Boston to raise your mini-me’s together. You married me. And you mean to never tell me that you’re the Sexiest Man Alive? I had to find out from Kelly on the show. -I’m just done with you. Love ya but good day to you, you meatball.” Mama is just so exhausted.
Rockstar Neighbor sent him a fruit basket and leopard thong.
High School Teacher is dreading going in the next day for school.
Russian said to him “don’t be getting an eggo on me. You still a meatball. My meatball.”
Italian kissed both his cheeks and then lips. “I’m proud you got this title. You deserve it, Bambino,” she said.
Sailor knows she’s going to get shit when she comes back from leave. She can handle the America’s Ass because that’s hilarious. But Sexiest Man Alive? Try the Dumbest— the Lamest— the Boringest- the Annoyingest Man Alive. That’s her big brother, he’s not anywhere near sexy. But she did go out to dinner with him and the Rock with a few others to celebrate his title along with her being back stateside.
Kardashian has shirts made. Everyone is sent shirts. She’s got the pictures blown up and in her office (her mom does too). She surprised him on set with a cake. She humbly put in her Instagram bio “married to the sexiest man alive.”
News Reporter happily made the announcement for those who missed hadn’t seen it yet and bragged that it is her man.
Teen costar took to social media and asked for an immediate recall.
Animator sent him a drawing of Dodger with the sash that says “Goodest Boy Alive.” With Chris standing next to him in his own sash.
“Welcome Miss.Y/l/n, i’m Mr Evans, Leon’s first grade teacher” Chris smirked his eyes clearly trained on the young mother’s exposed cleavage, her top doing nothing to hide her large tits, a shy smile on her face. “Oh yes, u-uh Leon’s told me all about you sir” Y/n smiled back, noticing his eyes on her chest.
“So I understand you had him quite young, at 21, so that would make you 27?” Chris asked standing up, his hands closing the curtains on the opposite side. “Yup, that’s me, haha” Y/n laughed awkwardly shrugging back her shoulders as Chris walked behind her, his hand dragging across her shoulders.
“If you don’t mind me asking, his father?”
“Not in the picture sir” She said shortly, listening to Chris stand behind her, his hands on both her shoulders. “Thank God, because Leon has told me about his momma’s little crush ‘my mommy thinks you’re handsome Mr. Evans, maybe you can be my dad?’ “
Chris said referencing the young six year old boy, who clearly still couldn’t process the fact that he had a single mother, single for now anyway.
“Oh gosh, Mr Evans i’m so sorry, I’ll talk to him about that, don’t worry-“
“No. Honey you don’t need to worry” Chris whispered bending down, his fingers coming around her frame to unbutton her shirt, her maternity bra still on despite having stopped breastfeeding years ago. Nothing else was able to hold her heavy tits for her. “Would you look at that? i’ve always dreamed of sucking these gorgeous tits, can I do that for you honey?” Chris asked kissing below her ear, his nose nuzzling against her cheek as she nodded.
Unclipping the front clip, Chris fondled the two globes of flesh hungrily, slapping them together to make the lewdest sounds. “Stand up for me baby, stand up for your man” Chris taunted pulling her up the arms and setting her onto his desk, fully pulling her shirt open, her grey pencil skirt bunched up to her hips.
“W-wait what if Leon finds out?” Y/n panicked holding onto his hand which was already pulling her underwear down her thighs, “It’s okay baby, just enjoy yourself” His fingers kneading her tits roughly, putting her two nipples together just so he could suck them both at once. “F-fuck Chris, feels so good, they’re so tense”
“No shit baby look how fuckin’ big these girls are, n’ they’re all for me now. It’s sir to you” He grumbled continuing to play with her tits, Y/n’s thighs now hugging his waist to bring him closer, her wet naked pussy pushing against his black jeans. “Not fair” Y/n pouted pulling at his buttons, his zipper not coming off as easily as she wished.
Pushing down his bottoms and briefs, his large hardened cock sprung out against his stomach, the mere sight of it making Y/n’s mouth water. “Gonna make me a daddy huh Y/n? We gonna give Leon a baby brother?” Chris smirked slowly pushing in the tip, Y/n’s face turning into an ‘O’
“Fuck you’re so hot baby, tits bouncing everywhere, a big fuckin milf that’s what you are” Thrusting in deeply and slowly, her hands held onto the collar of his cream coloured sweater, her mouth agape with each thrust hitting her G-spot. “M-mhm feel so good, a-another baby? really?”
“Of course momma, we can make our own perfect family, keep ya knocked up, all round full of me” Chris mocked pouting at her cute face, before spitting, missing her mouth by a few centimetres, his fingers filthily rubbing his spit into her mouth and face. “My filthy baby momma, how about that? Make these tits even bigger with milk, make me a daddy”
“Sir that sounds so dirty, you’re makin me your dirty girl” Y/n moaned, her head against Chris’ chest as his fingers gripped onto her ass cheeks, his fingers prodding at her puckered backdoor. “W-wait no one’s ever-“
“Shh baby it’s okay, you trust daddy right? I only want what’s best for you and our baby” Chris taunted slowly pushing his finger in, his mouth landing on hers, their teeth clashing in a sloppy spit-filled kiss. Y/n’s ass and pussy clenching around him at once as his other hand teased her hard nipple, flicking it and pinching it as if he was trying to get milk.
“Mhm, daddy, baby, milk” Y/n smiled sleepily, random words of Chris’ spilling from her mouth, clearly dumbed out from his cock. “You’re so damn gorgeous, how’d anyone let you go, you sexy bitch, gonna take care of you like any man shoulda”
“R-really? L-like a happy family?” Y/n asked, her eyes meeting his, fireworks going off inside her as she felt his heavy balls slapping her pussy, his mouth spitting onto where his cock went into her pussy. “Yes baby course, get married, the whole dream”
“Look baby watch me get you pregnant, get you full of me, watch you waddle around town makin’ sure everyone knows you’re mine. You like that huh?” Chris spewed starting to feel his cock twitch inside her pussy, feeling her hand start to fondle his balls seductively as if she’d done it before. “You gonna watch me swell up? Suck on my tits when they’re too full? Is that what you wanna do, sir?” She replied smirking dopily.
“Fuck baby yes, wanna knock you up, make the perfect mix of you n’ me; gives me all the more reason to cum inside this gorgeous pussy”
“Go ahead daddy, cum in my pussy, make us a family of four” Y/n said taking his hand and rubbing it all over her stomach, his fingers tracing over her stretch marks which were also littered over her round breasts, making her all the more sexy to him.
“You got it babe, let me give you a kiss while I pump you full of me”
Sticking his tongue out, he licked into her mouth, tasting her strawberry lip-balm. Their lips clamped onto each other’s as her arms wrapped around his neck pulling him flush against her, his thrusts growing more erratic and crazy, their tongues mingling as he came inside her. Painting her walls white as he rocked slowly against her, her tits in his hands as they broke away from the kiss.
“Let’s go tell Leon the good news shall we? Or is that a bit quick” Chris smirked still being inside her, his thumb caressing the bottom of her stomach gently, a kiss being placed to the corner of his mouth
Dad!Chris Evans x Wife!Reader (DiCaprio!Reader)
summary: It’s the Lightyear world premiere in L.A.—and everyone is asking where Chris’ wife, YN, and their kids are.
word count: 3.5k
warnings: fluff, more fluff, mentions of complicated pregnancy, really short mention of traumatic child labor and death of both mother and child, double the fluff, not really proofread because I’m tired
author’s note: I don’t know where this came from. But I also don’t care because it’s my first Chris piece, and I’m excited. And for age’s sake: Leo is 15-20 years older than he actually is because I kinda forgot that he is only 47 after I already finished this one xD
“I’m standing here with actor Chris Evans on this beautiful sunny afternoon. How are you, Chris?” One of the many interviewer asked, and the man grinned shortly to the camera before focusing back on the woman in front of him, holding a microphone right under his nose. She was nervous; he could see that, so he didn’t say anything about it. He understood her on a different level. “Hi, Susan. We really had luck with the weather, didn’t we? And I’m great, thanks. I mean, how could I not be great?” He grinned again and pushed his sunglasses up. “I probably would feel the same when I voiced my longtime favorite character! How did your kids react? You have two, right?”
At the mention of his two sunbeams back home, the father couldn’t help but smile softly. It may have taken a long while to find the perfect woman and the love of his life and an even longer while to create these two joys in his life, but Chris thanked the universe every single day for the honor of having them in his life.
“I have two wonderful and beautiful children, yes, and number three is on their way. My eldest, Ophelia, was over the moon when I left my study a few months back after I had just wrapped up the call with my manager and Disney and were allowed to talk about it. She, of course, eavesdropped because she just loves to do it when it contains me and my study. And she had picked up on some parts of the conversation and had bounced up and down and asked me nonstop if it’s true and I’m playing Buzz. It’s her favorite Toy Story character, so I had a bit of pressure while doing the actual work.” He showed his thumb and pointer moving very closely together and chuckled. “Who am I kiddin’, I had a lot of pressure,” he laughed, and Susan laughed with him. “I only can imagine how it is with such a harsh critique living under the same roof. How did your second child react?” Chris grinned again, and it was visible for everyone to see in this world how much he adored his two children. “My son Aiden was much more chilled. Well, it’s not science because he only objects if someone dares to steal his share of ice cream—or cuddle time with his mom. He had only shrugged after Ophelia had screamed through the living room that I was voicing Buzz, but he was kinda excited after we watched it for the first time and heard my voice. Y’know, to see your own kids become happy and have those big round eyes just like you at your first Disney movie and the birth of your first movie heroes? It’s something entirely else. And to witness this moment while they watched Lightyear? Mindblowing, really.”
His chest was swelled with pride, and everyone around gushed over the epitome of proud fatherhood Chris was in this very moment. And he didn’t mind because he could boast all day long about his kids—and wife. Speaking of which…
“This is probably the sweetest story I’ve ever heard. Thank you for sharing this very intimate insight of your family life with us, Chris,” the interviewer thanked him with a genuine smile, but Chris only waved it off. They might keep their kids out of the spotlight to grant them the childhood he had been gifted by his parents, but they never stopped talking about them when people asked. “Is it okay if I ask about your wife and why she isn’t here today? She usually is at all your premieres and vice versa. I barely can remember a time without her at your side or you at hers, to be quite honest. You two really found one another.” Chris nodded in absolute agreement. “We really did. It was unexpected and kinda bumpy—quite literally.”
The husband remembered their first encounter at one of the Oscar Afterparties vividly where the stunning woman had bumped into him—and had driven the heel of her painful stilettos into his shoe. Ever since the actor saw these shoes with other eyes. He returned back to reality. “But we pushed through the obstacles, and I am the lucky bastard she had agreed to marry. Lucky me.” He chuckled under his breath and shook his head. YN would hit him as soon as she saw this interview, and maybe she sat in front of the tv at this very moment and watched him gushing over their family. “But back to your question, Susan. YN is currently at home, maybe watching this interview and throwing a pillow to the tv because she is heavily pregnant and can’t get up without help anymore.” Chris grinned straight into the camera. “I’m sorry, love!” He almost shouted after the exposure of her struggling state he almost loved the most about her being pregnant.
He just was a sucker for his wife when she called for him to help her with the easiest of tasks and boss him around as if there was no tomorrow. But he was a happily obliging husband because, after all, her state had been his fault. Something he would always be proud of.
“She wanted to come with me, but the doctor had put her on bed rest for the time being after we experienced a tiny scare of our little one two weeks back.” The same icy cold feeling ran his back up and down, just the same he had felt during the few hours of panic and anxiety in the depths of night when their unborn child tried to greet them earlier than agreed. And gladly, as stubborn his wife could be, she kept her word and watched out for herself and the little bub instead of ignoring every warning and trying to go head first through every wall possible. His father-in-law was a great help on days like this when Chris couldn’t be at home to watch out for his love and his tiny love. “I am sorry to hear that. But now, everything is back on track and in order?” The actor nodded, relieved. “So far, yes. But it still means I have to attend these without her calming presence, and let me tell’ya: it’s freaking scary.” And then, he laughed and shook his head. “I’ve never expected to be so lost without her. I almost forgot to lace my shoes because my head was all over the place,” he let out and still couldn’t believe how his life had changed within only a few years.
“Don’t worry, Chris, I feel the same. My life without my girlfriend? God, send some help,” Susan laughed with him, and Chris smiled thankfully. “So, I suppose you will head straight back home after the screening?” And the Evans was more than relieved to nod this question yes. “Totally. I love everyone involved in this movie, and I’m beyond grateful. However, my priorities are heading home, being greeted by Dodge and maybe the kids if they’re still awake, thanking Leo for keeping an eye on these two—more like three, Dodger included—troublemakers and his daughter, and then finally greeting my wife. We probably will watch a Disney movie, eventually waking the kids with the sounds, and everything will morph into a huge Disney sleepover on the couch. And yes, that’s the description of my personal favorite night.” He had always been a more at-home type of guy after passing a certain age, but now, it was all he could ever want.
“That sounds like a night in just like mine, minus the children. Thank you again for talking to me, Chris, and congratulations on the brilliant movie and your family. I’m definitely not the only one when I’m saying that you deserve every single bit of it,” Susan closed the interview, and Chris waved a last time to the people standing behind her before heading back to the red carpet to get the final shots for the press.
;
Chris was glad that they had settled back to L.A. for the making of Lightyear to avoid stressful last-minute flights from one side of the country to the other. He could be there if something happened at home, almost within a matter of thirty minutes tops, and Leo wasn’t busy as he usually was to help him with keeping an eye on everyone. And now, he was glad because it meant he could hold his wife in his arms after only a twenty-minute drive instead of an almost six-hour flight. He could even grab her favorite ice cream flavor on the way home.
Leaving the car and wishing Daniel, his driver for today, a good night, Chris slowly followed the pathway, flanked with blooming bushes and flowers exploding in every color there was, up to the four steps leading to the porch and door. Their L.A. house reminded him of home back in Boston, and he couldn’t wait for them to move back and relish in the family time they would have after baby number three was born.
Smiling at the sounds of an excited Dodger waiting for him, Chris took two steps at a time and opened the door to get in. His fur companion wiggled with his tail at the sight of his human, and the Evans crouched down to greet him with a loving scratch behind his ears. “How is my best boy?” He asked and chuckled as Dodger impatiently nudged his hand to follow him. He wanted to, but tiny, excited voices let him stop in his tracks.
“Daddy! Daddy!”
“Daddy’s home!”
Two tiny humans rounded the corner into the hallway at full speed, and the father could only let the bag with ice cream and snacks drop to the floor before he was attacked by the hugs of his five-year-old girl and an almost four-year-old boy. “What a greeting!” He laughed as he lifted both children in his arms and tickled squealing noises out of them. Ophelia grinned brightly—the grin almost too big for her pretty little face— while Aiden preferred to snuggle onto his father’s shoulder. It was late for him, and Chris was actually surprised at how long he had pushed through.
“Did you bring the biiiig Buzz? I saw him on TV! I want him! He is so cool and sooo big! And Sox??? They had a statue of him too! Did you see it, Daddy?? Can we go there tomorrow?? Please??”
Chris chuckled at the tsunami of questions he already had anticipated, but another voice slid into the conversation. “Lia, darling. Give your dad some time to arrive and at least to take off his shoes,” Leo quipped with a small grin on his face and stepped to his son-in-law to take the kids off him. “But, Poooops!” Ophelia pouted heavily, and even Aiden seemed not happy about the interruption of stories. “No but’s, darling. Come on; you said you wanted to bake a cake for your dad and the work is only halfway done. Plus, your mom said something about craving a banana smoothie. Who wants a banana smoothie?”
And suddenly, the world was back in order, and both kids screamed “Yes!” throughout the entire house.
Chris followed them after taking off his shoes and retrieving the paper bag again. He took one spoon from the kitchen on his way to the living room and already saw the head of his wife peeking up between thick couch pillows. The husband left the bag with snacks at the opening of the kitchen, only taking the ice cream bucket with him. He crouched behind the back of the couch and let his arm appear from behind in front of the woman he loved—ice cream presented like an offering to the gods.
“M’lady, I brought gifts,” Chris laughed softly at her gasp and grabby hands, kissing her cheek tenderly. “Fine sir, do you possess the ability of mind reading? We should consider burning you at the stake.” YN had turned her head and grinned up to him as he rounded the couch and plopped down next to her. She was dressed in one of his Red Sox shirts—usually, it would be way too big for her, but now with the ever-growing baby bump, it fitted perfectly—, yoga pants and fluffy socks under which she probably hid the pestering compression socks the doctor had prescribed for the next weeks. “Please, I beg you, don’t burn me! Who would tend to your needs, m’lady?” YN’s eyes wandered to Dodger, who had taken over his place at her side once more. Ever the protective fur baby, Chris thought with a smile. “I could train Dodge to go to the store. Remember this video with the dog and his little basket on the market? Where he bought fruits for his owner? It could be Dodger after a bit of persuasion.” The woman grinned brightly, the same grin Ophelia owned, and with one hand on his neck, she pulled his face closer to hers. Chris obliged and leaned down to press their lips together in a loving kiss, which still let butterflies erupt in his stomach.
“Hey,” Chris whispered, lips still touching, and YN sighed. “Hey,” she returned just as quiet as he and nudged his nose with hers. “Everything alright?” She could see the worry in his blue eyes, darkening them a bit, so she took his hand and put it on the right side of her still-growing bump, even though she was almost through with it. But each pregnancy held its own surprises, as she had experienced. “Of course,” she smiled at his joyful, boyish grin as he felt one of the many kicks of their third bundle of joy. Number three may be an accident because, after Aiden’s birth, they had agreed on waiting a couple more years to grant them the attention they both deserved, but everything would be okay. And she couldn’t imagine a life without bub three.
Chris bent his head down to the spot where he suspected his baby’s head and pressed a kiss on top of his… YN’s shirt. “Hey, love. Here is your daddy speaking. I hope you didn’t give your mom a hard time today, and I damn sure hope you will continue to be a good girl in a few hours when she tries to sleep—unlike the last three nights. ‘Thought we had a deal.” YN chuckled while her fingers carded through Chris’ fluffy hair but groaned at a particularly hard kick. “Love,” they both warned in unison before YN settled back into the cushions and continued to caress her husband’s hair and scalp. “A girl, huh?” She softly smiled at the man who had swept her off her feet so suddenly, she still wondered how she didn’t brake her neck in the wake of his adorable flirting endeavors she oh so happily had returned. Chris leaned his cheek against her bump, wanting to be as close as possible to his baby and wife, and her knuckles tenderly stroked over his bearded cheek. He had a boyish smile tucking at his lips. “S’just a feelin’,” he mumbled, Boston accent very prominent—just as always when he felt contentment and happiness, mostly when he was at home with his family. YN grinned down at him while slowly rubbing the spot where the tiny bub had kicked again. “You can admit that you want another girl. Nobody would be surprised, y’know? The whole internet sees you as a girl-dad,” YN winked, and Chris’ rumbling laugh almost shook her body as well. “Do they, yeah?” She nodded and tipped the tip of his nose with the pad of her finger. “Yes, they do, and we both know that you know this as well. Don’t try to fool lil’ ol’ me, Mr. Evans. I’m aware of your stalking tendencies when it comes to your fans and this family.”
Chris grinned sheepishly before sitting up and pressing another kiss to her lips. “Wouldn’t dream of it, Mrs. Evans,” he whispered before commotion erupted in the kitchen and tiny feet came rushing over. “Mommy! Mommy, look! I made banana shake!” Aiden proudly presented the filled glass, and both parents were sure there would be a dripping trail of shake from the kitchen to the couch. But her father already followed with a kitchen towel in hand. “We made the banana shake,” Ophelia stressed and gave her mom the reusable straw she had carried while Aiden gave her the glass. The mother almost teared up and blinked rapidly to hide the tears. “You two are too good to me,” she sniffled before taking the first sip and hummed in utter approval. “Perfection. Maybe you should think about opening a shake shop.” Ophelia giggled while Aiden squeezed himself between Dodger and his mother. With another human, Dodger wouldn’t have any of that, but with his family, he only made space and put his head in his tiny human’s lap to get the cuddles he loved.
Meanwhile, Ophelia climbed into the spot between her mom and dad and cuddled into Chris’ side, grabbing the ice cream out of her mother’s hands and starting to steal a few spoons full of sugary delight. He had thought about getting up to change into something more comfortable, but he decided that this was much better. He could outlive a few hours without his sweatpants. Leo returned after bringing the kitchen towel into the laundry room and bent down to press a kiss to the top of his youngest daughter’s head. “I would head over if you don’t need anything else, darling,” he said, and YN looked up to him with all the love she held for this man. “Of course. Thanks again for coming over and handling everything.” She really had lucked out in the family department, even before finding Chris and creating her own perfect family with the perfect man that was her husband. The DiCaprio smiled down at her and kissed her forehead. “That’s nothing to thank me for.” And with that, he kissed his grandkids goodbye before patting his son-in-law’s shoulder. “There is a cake in the oven, but the timer is set.” Chris nodded, and after peeling a grumpy Ophelia off his side, he stood up and brought Leo to the door.
There, the older man turned again. “Before I go… I wanted to thank you, Chris, for making her so happy. You know what happened to her mother, and though it was a long time ago, it had always cast a shadow over her.” Chris knew what Leo was referring to; YN had told him about the traumatic labor her mother went through, only that she died and the baby with her. It had taken its toll on Leo, too, and the whole family had needed years to recover from it. It still amazed Chris how she had handled every pregnancy and every birth, although she knew what could go wrong. “But with you, she finally is… I can’t even describe it. Not to mention that you took her fear. So… Thank you.” Both men hugged each other closely, patted their backs reaffirmingly. “It’s an honor to love her and have her in my life because you raised one of the best women on earth. You deserve every thank I could offer you,” Chris mumbled before they let go of one another. Leonardo waved it off, but in reality, it was the proudest achievement in his life. YN and her sister were his pride and joy, just as Ophelia, Aiden, and the little one were Chris’ pride and joy. “Have a good night, Chris, and give me a call if it’s happening, yeah?” Chris nodded without hesitation. “Yeah, of course.“
Returning into the living room in his favorite sweatpants and Red Sox shirt—one of the few he actually was allowed to wear and which wasn’t claimed by his darling wife—Chris sat back next to Ophelia and out his arm on the back of the couch to softly caress YN’s neck and shoulder. “The kids decided that we’re watching Wall-E,” she let him know while his eldest already held onto the remote and scrolled through Disney+. “Daddy?” He hummed in question at Aiden’s voice. “Lia and I want see biiiiig Sox,” he told the family, and YN softly shrugged at Chris’ questioning look in her direction. “If they’re still there, why not? You two have to take a lot of pictures for me, ‘kay?” Aiden nodded with a serious expression. “Otay!” YN carded through her son’s mop of blonde hair—Chris’ genes definitely outrun hers—and changed another look with her husband, both obviously thinking the same. “You know, after your brother or sister is born, maybe we could check out Disney World and if they already have a Buzz and Sox there.” Both parents knew what mentioning Disney World would do to their kids, but they didn’t mind the explosion of tiny voices. Instead, Chris settled back right next to his wife, hand again on her bump, while they watched their children playing in the living room—Dodger was Sox, Ophelia played Izzy, and Aiden was Buzz himself.”
YN laughed softly and leaned her head onto Chris’ shoulder. “We really have a Disney obsessed family.” Chris grinned in total contentment and kissed her head. “We have, and I don’t want it any other way.”
Today is just a regular day at work filled with meetings, lots of paperwork, and even more meetings. This all changed when you suddenly got a phone call from your Dad because he only calls you at work when it's an absolute emergency.
You run out of the meeting room after excusing yourself before picking up.
''Dad? Is everything okay?'' you say when the door behind you is closed.
''Hi Darling, I'm sorry to bother you at work, but your mom just had a terrible fall down the stairs after she slipped, and she got taken to the hospital with an ambulance,'' he says, and the words don't seem to get through after ''bad fall''.
The world comes to a stop all around you, and your breathing gets quicker while the world around you seems to go in slow motion. Your phone drops out of your hand, shattering as it hits the ground below.
The only sound coming from you was a broken sob as you sank onto your knees, and your colleague rushed over to you to comfort you.
''What happened?'' she asks, but it sounds like you're underwater, and her words don't really register with you.
''M-my mom...'' you croak out, and you completely break down right then and there, not caring who sees or hears you. The woman you love and adore shouldn't be in the hospital, yet there she is right now.
Tumblr media
''Y/N?'' your Mom asks as she walks into your room. ''Are you awake, Honey?'' she asks, and you stretch as she walks in.
''Mornin' Mom,'' you say, followed by a yawn.
''How was your last night in your parents' house?'' she asks with a big grin and a small tear. This afternoon you're moving to the other side of the country for a new job opportunity.
''Weird, but overall, I slept okay,'' you tell her as you sit up. You love these conversations in the morning, and your Mom was there every single morning without fail.
''Good, I'm glad to hear it. Now, shall we head down for some breakfast before your flight?'' your Mom asks, and you nod. She leaves the room, and you pick up the outfit that you laid out the night before, stepping into it.
''Is our girl ready for our last breakfast before moving to Boston?!'' your Dad asks, and you chuckle. ''Yeah, I am! Hit me with those waffles!'' you say as you sit down.
The conversation over breakfast is light and exactly what you need right now. The tears and heavy conversations would be saved for the airport.
Your parents decided to drive you to the airport to say goodbye to their last daughter, who would officially move out of the house in a few hours.
It wasn't too bad when it was time to say goodbye to your Dad; a few tears were shed, but nothing compared to your Mom.
''Honey, please promise me you will take care of yourself and that you will call me as soon as you land, okay?'' she says as she pulls you into a bone-crushing hug.
''I promise, Mom, please don't worry about me. You know I'll be fine,'' you tell her, trying to fight the tears - without success.
''I love you so much, Honey, and I wish you all the luck in the world in Boston,'' she says, unable to fight back her tears.
The two of you fell into each other's arms and sobbed loudly until it was time for you to leave, and you waved goodbye with tears streaming down your face.
This is definitely the hardest goodbye you have ever had to go through.
Tumblr media
Somehow you made your way to the airport in one piece, already waiting on the first flight home. Suddenly it occurred to you that you must inform Chris; you can't return to your parents without him.
You realize what has happened to your phone and can't reach him at that moment. When you started panicking about how to call him, you heard his voice through the airport.
''Y/N!'' he shouted, and it echoed through the airport. ''Y/N, where are you!'' he said again, and you quickly stood up to follow where the voice came from.
''Chris? How did you-'' is all you say before he reaches you and envelops you in a big hug.
''It's okay, Bubby, everything will be okay,'' he shushes you as you rock back and forth while you completely break down in his arms.
When you had calmed down a little, Chris went to grab a water bottle and got recognized by some fans, but he politely told them that now wasn't a good time for a photo, but he did sign some quick autographs.
He returns with 2 bottles of water and hands one to you before twisting the other for himself.
''What happened?'' he asks as he sits beside you.
''My Dad called and said she was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, she had a nasty fall down the stairs and broke many bones, and she was unconscious when the ambulance arrived,'' you tell him as he pulls you in for a big hug.
''She's going to be okay, Bubby. She's a lot stronger than she looks,'' he tells you, and you know he's right.
''I'm glad to have you by my side, and I think they would be pleased to see you again,'' you tell him, thinking back to the first time they met Chris.
Tumblr media
''Are you ready to meet them?'' you ask, squeezing his hand reassuringly.
''As ready as I'll ever be,'' he sighs as the two of you head into your parents' house. You have been together for nearly 6 months, and they invited both of you over for a family dinner.
''Good afternoon, I'm Chris,'' he says as he introduces himself to your parents.
''Oh, Y/N, you didn't mention you're dating the famous Chris Evans!'' your Mom joked, knowing full well you told them to prepare them.
''Just kidding, Chris, Y/N has told us all about you. It's nice to finally meet the man who makes her look like she's glowing,'' she says, and you have the widest smile on your face.
''I told you they'd like you!'' you say as the two of you walk out to the garden, ready to meet the rest of the family too.
''Yeah, yeah, you were right!'' he says before leaning down and giving you a soft peck on your lips.
Tumblr media
The flight went on without a hitch, and before you knew it, you were in your Dad's arms, crying as you finally felt the release of being back home and back with your Mom.
''Darling, thank you so much for coming, and you too, Chris,'' he says as he nods to him.
''Anything for Y/N, and of course, you and Lily, too,'' he says. He walks over to both of you and softly brushes your hair out of your face before kissing the top of your head.
''When can we go see her?'' you ask, and your Dad tells you it should be soon.
''I believe she's coming out of surgery at any moment now,'' he says, and you nod before sitting down with either one of them on your sides.
You reach out for both of their hands, and your gaze is fixed on the door; Chris strokes your hand softly with his thumb.
After what seems like an eternity, she gets wheeled through the doors, and you shoot up, practically running to her with tears streaming down your face again.
''Mom! Mom, I'm so sorry I wasn't here for you when you fell. But I'm here now, and I won't leave your side until you're all better,'' you ramble, even though she's not even conscious yet.
''Bubby, come on. Let's sit by her bed until she wakes up, okay?'' Chris says, and you nod, letting the nurse put the bed into place.
Chris sinks into one of the chairs beside the bed and pulls you onto his lap so you're sitting sideways on his thighs. Your head is leaning against his shoulder, and after all the stress and not knowing, you slowly drift off to sleep in the warmth and safety of Chris' arms.
''Bubby, wake up,'' he says softly after about 2 hours; he and your Dad have been wrapped up in conversations the entire time you were asleep, careful not to wake you.
''Honey? Is that you?'' you hear, and suddenly you're wide awake and next to your Mom's hospital bed.
''Mom, I'm here. You're okay, you took a bad fall down the stairs, but you're going to make a full recovery,'' you tell her while you hold her hand.
''Chris is here too, and Dad as well,'' you tell her, and she slowly turns her head.
''Hi, Lily; I'm sorry about what happened”, Chris says as he walks over to hold your Mom's hand.
''You have always been my favorite son-in-law, you know that?'' she says, and all three of you burst out in laughter. ''What's so funny?'' your Mom asks, and you're just happy she can still joke.
''I missed you so much, and I love you, Mom,'' you tell her and give her a soft kiss on her forehead.
''I love you too, Honey. Thank you for coming all this way to see me,'' she says, and the rest of the night is spent in light conversations and laughter until it is time to go home.
''Do you two want to sleep in your old room, or will you book a hotel?'' your Dad asks.
''We will stay with you, but only if we get waffles in the morning!'' you tell him, and he agrees.
''Deal,'' he says, and all three of you walk out of the hospital and to the car, all in dire need of rest.
''I love you, Chris. Thank you for being here with me,'' you say as he hugs you again.
''There's nowhere else I'd rather be,'' he says before kissing your lips passionately, lovingly.
✨ 2023 writing round-up ✨
I posted the more words to Ao3 this year than I have in any other previous year, which is wild since I only really started writing again in June. It's wild the choke hold that Eddie Diaz and Evan Buckley have on me. Here's my writing round-up for 2023 :)
June
If we’re both still single… Teen || 2.9k
This was my first Buddie fic. Little did I know I was about to fall down the fucking rabbit hole.
“I’m sorry, you’re gonna have to repeat that for me?” Eddie had a beer halfway to his lips, his arm slung lazily on the back of the couch. “If we’re both still single when we’re 35, we should just get married,” Buck repeated, as casually as if he was saying they should order pizza or change the channel from the basketball game to hockey.
let me see them tan lines Teen || 2.8k
Four times the 118 notices Eddie Diaz's ring tan line and one time he was wearing a ring.
give me a sign, I want you next to me Teen || 7k
Buck loves working at the 118. He loves living in LA. He loves his kid. He loves the life they've manage to build. The only thing he doesn't love is that his husband is across the world in a war zone. OR The 118 knows Buck has a really cute kid and a partner he loves, they just think that partner is his husbands ex.
July
it's like everything you say is a sweet revelation Mature || 5.6k
“Marry me,” Eddie said. It wasn’t a question, it was a sentence. He said it like he was commenting on the weather or last night's Dodgers game. Buck slowly lowered his coffee cup, eyes wide. Eddie lifted his drink and took a sip, a satisfied hum escaped him as he did. “Come again?” “Marry me,” Eddie took another sip of his coffee. “Please?”
boiling point Teen || 2k
Growing up, Buck heard the story about frogs and boiling water, that if you put a frog into boiling water, it’ll jump out, but if you put the frog is put in room temperature water and then slowly bring it to a boil, the frog won’t perceive the danger and will be boiled to death. When he was a kid, he had believed it, like so many other stories and fables. OR Evan Buckley's extremely extended metaphor for loving Eddie Diaz.
August
wet your lips (and smile to the camera) Mature || 6.8k
Buck has a problem and that problem is that Eddie Diaz is going to ruin his life. OR Eddie starts modeling on the side and Buck can't stop looking at his pictures, mostly because Eddie's ads are everywhere.
you are the only one that needs to know Teen || 2k
"You're not my dirty little secret. And I never want you to think that,” Buck says it practically into Eddie’s mouth, with a hand on Eddie’s chest. He shoves him, gently, into the Grant-Nash laundry room next to the bathroom. “But…” “But?” Eddie grins, feels the way Buck is grinning against his lips too and lets himself be moved backward until he collides with the washing machine. “But… I will miss sneaking off to make out with you when we finally tell everyone."
this kiss is something I can't resist Mature || 1.6k
Happiness snuck up on Evan Buckley like a summer storm in Florida, but unlike a summer storm, the happiness he was feeling didn’t seem to be going anywhere. If anything, it was getting bigger, the feeling threatening to jump out of his chest at any moment.
take my hand, don't let it go Teen || 2.3k
In retrospect, dating a death doula pretty soon after one of the most traumatic experiences of Buck’s life, an experience where he actually died, was maybe not Buck’s smartest decision. In which Buck realizes that dating Natalia isn't what he needs and talks to Eddie about their shared death related trauma.
you're the cream in my coffee Explicit || 8.6k
“Dad, did you know there’s a coffee that’s made of poop!” “It’s not actually made of poop, bud,” Buck grinned, handing Eddie Chris’s backpack. “It’s partially digested cherries. The cherries actually ferment as they’re being passed through the civet’s intestines. They disinfect them and everything before they’re consumed.” “Yeah! That! It’s called copy loo-wake” “Kopi luwak.” “Uh huh!” “I take it you had fun with your Buck today, huh?” “Buck's the best dad!”
September
a dream is a wish your heart makes General || 3.3k
It takes a soft, domestic dream about Buck for Eddie to realize what's been true for a long time - he's in love with his best friend.
October
Hot and Heavy Explicit || 9.4k
Eddie can admit without shame that he’s having a bit of a hoe phase. He’s thirty, recently out of the closet, and even more recently single, he’s allowed to have some fun. In fact, he’s pretty sure it’s basically a requirement that he fuck around since he didn’t get to do it when he was younger. OR Five times Eddie had casual sex with someone who wasn't Buck and the time they finally got their shit together
Feels Like Magic Teen || 47.8k
“You used too much magic again,” Buck’s voice was quiet as he spoke, but he knew Eddie heard him. “You’re alive,” Eddie’s eyes were closed, but Buck knew the look Eddie would be giving him if they had been open. It was the same look Eddie had given him when he had said ‘because, Evan, you think you’re expendable but you’re not’. It was a look that made Buck feel truly and completely seen in a way he never had before. “There’s no such thing as too much if it saves you.” “Go to sleep,” Buck said, because if he left himself say anything else he’d be telling Eddie he loved him and he didn’t think in the bunk room at two in the morning after an exhausting call was the right moment, but then again, Buck was pretty sure he’d be taking that secret to his grave.
November
kiss and make up Explicit || 3.3k
Eddie always thought that if he and Buck ever kissed it would be in the heat of the moment, it would be pure relief that they were still alive. Maybe after a big rescue or (another) near death experience. That if it wasn’t in the heat of the moment as they both came down from an adrenaline rush that it would be something soft, probably in one of their kitchens while they did the dishes. He always figured that the first kiss would be like a homecoming. (Not that Eddie thought about kissing Buck often, because he doesn’t do that.) Instead of being soft and sweet or adrenaline fueled and filled with love and thanks that they're both alive, their first kiss comes in the middle of a fight in Eddie’s living room.
gold when you see me Teen || 4.3k
"Ouch,” Eddie says when he lands, his teeth clacking in his head. His ass hurts in an extremely unfun way, his ankle feels terrible, and he’s seeing spots. None of that is good news. “Eddie?” Buck sounds panicked. “Eddie?” “Down here,” Eddie calls up. He’s definitely going to have a bruised tail bone and there’s a pretty decadent chance that he’s sprained his ankle, if not broken it. He’s a little too shaken up to try to get up right now, especially since it's not like he’s not going to be able to get himself out of here. He takes a deep breath and feels every second of it in his ribs. On the bright side, they don't feel broken, just bruised. Buck’s face, illuminated by nothing but Eddie’s flashlight and Buck’s own, appears in the hole that Eddie fell through. “You okay?” Eddie will explore the tremor in Buck’s voice later, right now he needs to get out of this fucking hole before it caves in even more. “Definitely a little banged up, but I landed on the ground, not anything else.”
wanna lose my mind in a hotel room with you Explicit || 4.1k
"Think you’ll ever have that kind of love?” Eddie asks as he leans against the wall with a beer in his hand at Maddie and Chimney’s engagement party. He’s got a fond look on his face, if not a little wistful as he turns to face Buck. “I hope so,” Buck says with a small smile on his face as he looks from Maddie and Chim dancing with Jee-Yun between them to Eddie. He’s pretty sure he’s already got half of a love like that standing next to him, he just isn’t sure if it’s reciprocated. “I-I really hope so.” “Want to dance with me?” Eddie asks after a few seconds of quiet between them, his eyes bright in the yellow light of the string lights that crisscross the patio.
December
it hurts to hope for more Mature || 15.5k
“I’m never - I’m never going to be a dad,” Buck sobs into Eddie’s shoulder. “She didn’t want kids. Why do I keep dating people who don’t want the same things as me? Is- is the universe telling me that I don’t deserve it?” “Hey, no,” Eddie pulls back from the hug and Buck lets out a pitiful sound at the loss of contact. “The universe doesn’t do that. The universe doesn’t scream and it definitely doesn’t get to tell you what you deserve, because you deserve everything Buck. Everything.” OR Buck wants to be a dad, it takes a couple break-ups and a major non-romantic heartbreak for him to figure out that maybe he already is.
can't make it stop, give me all you got Explicit || 4.1k
“Are we really doing this?” Buck’s lips graze the shell of Eddie’s ear as he speaks. They're in a club, the music is loud, so Eddie would have chalked the proximity of Buck’s mouth up to that, but Buck nips at his earlobe. “I think we are,” Eddie grins and turns his face to capture Buck’s mouth with his. He doesn’t care that they’re probably in view of all of their friends. He doesn’t care that there are sweaty, dancing bodies all around them. All he can think about is the way Buck’s hands feel on his waist, the way Buck’s breath hitches as Eddie grabs a handful of his ass. OR Eddie and Buck fuck in a club at Pride
The Nanny, Chapter 3
Word Count:  1.6k
Warnings:  slight angst.
Tumblr media
“So…you seem quite smitten all of a sudden…”
Jake looked at his younger sister, his heart racing, “what?  No.  With who?  I mean, (Y/N) is just the nanny that you and Cougar hir-“
“I didn’t say with who,” she smiled, nudging her older brother.  Jake nervously looked to the back yard where his parents were lounging at the outdoor table, talking with you while Alex was snuggled up on your lap and Briana was telling everyone all about how excited she was for school to start next month.  He felt his heart fluttering in his chest as he admired how natural the scene felt, “you know…it’s only been a few weeks but the kids love her.  I think it’s safe to say that Cougar and I picked a good one.”
“Yeah…the kids do love her.”
Stephanie shot her brother a look as she pulled the mac and cheese from the oven, “why do you sound sad about that?”
“I’m not sad, I-“
“You think it’s too soon, don’t you?”
Jake looked back at his sister, “what?  To-too soon for what?”
“You like her and you’re all up in your head about it,” she said briskly as she threw the oven mitts beside herself on the counter, Jake…I know that look.  You need to stop torturing yourself over whatever there is between the two of you.”
“She’s my employee, Steph.  She takes care of the kids.  There’s nothing going on bet-“
“But you’re attracted to her!”
Jake was quick to go silent at the accusation.  His gaze shifted back towards you, and how Alex had been completely wrapped around you, sleeping soundly in your arms.  Your eyes met with his, and he felt his heart go from a fluttering to a wild thumping.
“No…no move, daddy.  I wake…see…” Alex whimpered softly, his head nuzzling into your neck while his little arms wrapped around you, “just comfy.”
“Just let bubby sleep, daddy…” Briana begged from her father’s side as she snuggled against him on the couch that was right next to you and Alex, “the movie’s only halfway and I wanna see the end.”
Jake looked at his daughter, and back to the remote in his own hand.  When he’d noticed that Alex had fallen asleep on you, he paused it, insisting that they finish the movie the following afternoon so that everyone could be comfortable and get some proper rest.
“I don’t mind,” you muttered softly, stroking Alex’s hair to keep the boy lulled into his comfortable sleep, “We can keep watching the movie, Jake.  I’m fine.  Really…”
“Momma blankie,” Alex whimpered against your neck.  You didn’t even seem phased as you pulled the blanket up, and Jake didn’t know if you didn’t hear the first word or chose to ignore it but he felt his heart aching when his son spoke again, “thank you, Momma.  I love you.”
You looked at Jake, unsure if it was crossing a line, and the two of you stared at one another, afraid to make a move.
“(Y/N), Alex said he loves you.”
Your eyes broke from Jake’s to look at Briana, who was only half paying attention to the conversation as Jake had pressed play on the movie once more, “Oh…I just-“
“Do you love Alex too?”
“Of course I do,” you replied quickly, your grip instinctively tightening on the little boy, “I love you and your little brother, Briana.”
She smiled and leaned back into her father’s side, “good…cuz we both love you…”
It was little moments like this that made Jake wonder.  Was it too soon to have these feelings for you?  He didn’t mind the domesticity of it all.  Rather, he felt himself craving it.
The little movie nights.  The home-cooked meals.  They all meant something to him.
Just like when the two of you picked the kids up from the summer programs, they went to so they could spend time with other kids together.  And how you asked how their day went.  When you would go jogging with him or do household chores while you waited for the kids to get home.  When you would sneak down to him with a snack when he would be working out in the gym basement he’d made.
It all added to his happiness and the growing feelings that he’d begun to feel for you.
“Daddy, (Y/N) asked if you can get Hannah’s sippy cup.  Gamma said she’s being fussy an-“
“I got it jellybean,” Jake said quickly, reaching into the fridge.  He handed off the four-year old’s cup, “does your brother need his too?”
“No, he’s still asleep on mom!”
And with that, Briana had raced out of the kitchen, back outside to hand off the sippy cup to her grandmother.  Stephanie’s brow was raised as she looked at Jake once again, “When did she start calling (Y/N) mom?”
Jake’s eyes widened as the realization hit him.
He hadn’t ever heard Briana call her ‘mom.’  But apparently, the realization hit Briana at the same time.  Jake looked outside to see that you had passed Alex off to his father and had a crying Briana sitting on top of the table.
He raced outside.
“No…no, it’s okay, Briana…you don’t have to cry…just tell me what’s wrong,” you begged, worry coating every inch of your face, “what happened?  You were okay a second ago?  Did you get a bee sting or hit your arm or something?”
You were searching her arms and legs for any sign of an injury, but Jake knew that it wasn’t a physical wound.
“Briana.”
“I-I’m sorry daddy,” Briana hiccupped, clearly realizing what had happened, and having the instantaneous reaction of crying.  The little girl shook her head, her pigtails bouncing wildly, “I-I didn’t mea-mean to.  Please don’t b-be mad at me!”
“Mad?” you asked, your features contorting into a look of confusion as you looked at Jake, “Jake?  Why would you be mad at Briana?  What happened?”
Jake’s mouth opened, but the words held still in his chest.
“Baby…talk to me,” you begged, cradling the little girl’s face as you tried to wipe her tears away, “what’s wrong?  I can help make it better…you have to use your words though…where are you hurt baby?”
“I-I called you mommy in front of daddy!  I-I’m so sorry.  I didn’t mean to.  I-don’t be mad at me, daddy.  Please.  I’m sorry!” she wailed.
Jake could see the heartbreak in your eyes.
“I know what it’s like,” you admitted softly, brushing the hair from Alex’s face as he slept on you.  The movie was long since finished, and Briana and Alex had fallen asleep on Jake and yourself respectively, and the two of you had been talking, “when you met ‘my parents’ last week when they came to check up on me…that woman isn’t my biological mom…my mom died when I was seven…in a car crash.”
Jake felt the tears welling up in his eyes, and he began to feel guilty as he thought about his fiancé.
“It took me and my younger brother a while to get used to the idea of my dad getting re-married…but my little sister clung to her like how Alex is with me.  She was only one when it happened and she didn’t really have any memories of her.  She just wanted the love of a mother and a father.”
“Sometimes I don’t know what to think,” Jake admitted sadly, “it’s been years since she’s been gone, and the kids only really want to talk to me or my family.  Ever since you came along they’ve slowly been okay with talking to other kids and making friends, but before that, it was hopeless.  And don’t even get me started on when a woman would come around.  They hate most women…”
“It takes time, Jake,” you sighed, staring into his sad eyes.  You reached your hand across the coffee table, and he did the same.  It was meant to be a silent moment of solidarity where you were letting him know that you were there for him, but it was a moment that made him feel the emotions he’d been pushing away for weeks, “just know that if you need someone to talk to, I’m not just here for the kids.”
He knew what you must have felt.  He knew that you had been through a similar scenario.  And his heart melted when you fell to your knees in front of his daughter and looked at her dead in the eyes while cradling her face.
“Bri…you don’t have to be upset, sweetheart…you can call me whatever you want,” you gently reminded her, “your daddy and I won’t be mad…no matter what you choose to call me.  Okay?  You-you just call me whatever feels right, okay?”
Briana looked gently towards Jake, tears still sliding down her cheeks.  Jake rushed up to his daughter, and you moved over, “it’s okay, jellybean…I-I’m not mad...”
She sniffled, “P-promise?”
“I promise jellybean…I-I’m not mad…”
She looked to you and held her arms out, wanting the same comfort you’d been giving Alex since day one.  And he watched you pick her up without a second thought.  She nuzzled into your neck, muttering something that only you could hear.
You nodded and looked at Jake’s family.
“Briana says she’s sorry for making a scene,” you sighed.  You looked back at the little girl in your arms and began stroking her tear-stricken cheek, “we’re going to excuse ourselves to get cleaned up before we have the barbeque if that’s okay…”
Jake’s parents gave Briana a sad look, but Jake watched as you carried Briana inside, softly soothing her, telling her that ‘she didn’t make a scene’ and that ‘it wasn’t her fault’.
And in that moment, Jake knew that he was in love with you, almost as much as his kids were, but he also knew that he couldn’t ever let himself act on it.
"I'm sorry," Eddie blinks, leaning across the kitchen island, "they asked you to what?"
"Lend them some sperm." Buck shrugs, fiddling with the label on his beer.
"Lend them some sperm?" Eddie repeats. The words taste heavy and clumsy on his tongue, but he swallows the bile that rises with them.
"Eddie," Buck sighs with the slump of his shoulders, "its a figure of speech."
"What are they gonna do? Give it back to you after they're done?" Eddie scoffs, tries not to think about a blue-eyed kid with golden curls running around somewhere in San Diego.
"What's your problem, man?"
"Buck, are you seriously considering this?"
"Its my year of—"
"Yes to possibilities." Eddie rolls his eyes and vows to burn every single self-help book in the tri-state area. "I know. But this isn't a decision you say yes to just because."
"The book said—"
"I don't care what the book said!" Eddie wonders if he could shake some sense into Buck, but even with his new and improved biceps he thinks that'd be too exhausting a task. "You can't seriously be considering this."
"What if I am?" Buck retorts, all the fight leaving his voice.
"Buck," Eddie murmurs, "aren't you fed up of being spare parts?" Buck flinches at that.
"Defective parts," Buck corrects, brandishing his pointer finger, "but this is proof that I'm not!"
"Jesus Christ, Evan." Eddie runs a hand through his hair before gripping the edge of the countertop. "You can't just say that. What are you talking about?"
"Somebody wants to have my kid, Eddie." There's desperation in Buck's words now, something pleading in his eyes. "Am I supposed to ignore that?"
"And you really think you could be happy knowing your child was out there calling someone else dad, quite possibly not knowing who you are?" Eddie knows he couldn't be happy, if Shannon had never told him about Christopher and broken up with him instead, if there was a little Buck somewhere in the world that Chris couldn't grow up with, if there was a baby Buck Eddie never got to hold and call his own—
"As long as they were happy." Buck breathes, but he's frowning down at the bottle in his hands now like it'll give him the answers to the universe.
"Fucking Christ, Buck."
"Eddie," Buck turns his wide, imploring eyes on him then, "this may be my only chance."
"You know what?" Eddie slips off his stool and grabs his keys from the counter. "I can't do this. Not today." He grabs his jacket and stops at the door, spinning to face his best friend. "Fuck you, Buckley."
"What the hell, man?" Buck hisses, hopping off his own stool. "Why are you acting like this? It has nothing to do with you!"
"It has everything to do with me!" Eddie shouts back. He's a step closer now, practically toe to toe with Buck and suddenly he remembers a conversation in this very same kitchen two years ago, dark eyes and a hand on a belt buckle. He exhales his anger, Buck doesn't need this from him. "Do you know why I came over here today?"
"No." Buck mumbles, scuffing the toe of his sneaker against the floor.
"I came over here because Chris has been lying to me."
"What?" Buck looks up at him like he's been slapped.
"He's been lying for two whole weeks and I had no idea until today." Eddie clenches his jaw against the tears stinging his eyes. "My kid is lying to me because he doesn't feel like he can be honest with me, and you were the only person I wanted to talk to." His voice cracks and he takes a step backwards, falling back against the wall when his shoulder hits the doorframe. "We know so many parents, but you were the only person I wanted right there with me when I found out because you're the only one who understands—who loves—Christopher like I do."
"Eddie." Buck breathes, his own eyes glistening with tears.
"Forget it, Buck." Eddie shakes his head. "Do whatever you want. But don't you dare make the decision just because its your only chance like you don't already have a twelve year old son who adores you."
Eddie has always been greedy when it comes to Buck, but this time he doesn't allow himself that one last look. He leaves before his world can come crumbling down around him.
