Heads rolling in the US government
There have been some major changes in the US government: Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara is retiring from his position. But more controversially, the Secretary of State Mr. Dean Rusk has also resigned amidst backlash for his plans to withdrew troops from Vietnam. Rumors circulating in Washington attribute a major role to this decision to President Johnson.
The President has already nominated replacements for the two Secretaries. Senator Robert Kennedy has been nominated Secretary of Defense and Prof. Enrico Catedrales, Mayor of Los Angeles, has been indicated to replace Mr. Rusk. Prof. Catedrales, a Harvard Scholar, will be the first Latino American to occupy a US cabinet position.
Senate confirmation of both candidates is still pending. In the meantime, Mr. Clark Kent, a senior member and advisor to the former Minister of Defense, and Mr. Joseph J. Sisco, Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs, will be intermittently filling in the open positions.
Observers were baffled by the speed of these cabinet changes. Nevertheless, civil rights groups are applauding the nomination of a Latino Secretary as a big step for minorities in the USA.

Un nouveau monument à Ajaccio
C’est en face du bar des lacs, Avenue du Mont Thabor, dans le quartier de Pietralba à Ajaccio que trône le mémorial érigé contre la violence faite aux femmes. Cette oeuvre magnifique a été réalisée par Adrien Martinetti, artiste peintre Ajaccien, sur ce monument élevé par les services techniques de la ville.
Ce symbol a été commencé le vendredi 6 décembre en direct. Pendant une semaine, chacun a pu ainsi assister à la conception de l’oeuvre en pleine rue. Une façon significative de dire STOP à la violence faite aux femmes.
Ce mémorial signe la fin 2019 pour Adrien puisqu’il sera sa dernière oeuvre de l’année. Que nous réserve cet artiste pour l’année 2020 ?
“Parce que nous étions, nous sommes et nous resterons l’Île des “Justes “, voici le Monument qui s’élève désormais à Ajaccio, contre la violence faite aux Femmes.
Et malgré les pétales qui tombent, cette Rose RESTERA DEBOUT.
Elle en a la force et le courage, telle une guerrière, telle une Femme.”

Qui est Adrien Martinetti ?
“Artiste Contemporain né à Ajaccio,en 1985,peintre et poète, Adrien Martinetti manie les mots aussi bien que les formes et les couleurs. Surnommé “Le Bouscul ´ Art” par nombre de ses confrères,il se voit comme un Artiste engagé, un défenseur de l’art, envers et contre la censure,discrète mais bien présente encore aujourd’hui. Adrien colorie la Corse. Des morceaux de lui sont disséminés sur l’île à travers des oeuvres grandioses qui délivrent leurs messages. Artiste engagé pour de nobles causes, il est aussi l’auteur de la toile baptisée “De l’ombre à la lumière” réalisée en deux jours sur les murs de l’entrée des restos du coeur. C’est entre 4.50 mètres de long et 2.50 mètres de large qu’il fait entrer un message d’espoir à travers cette oeuvre.
