Ok @i-put-the-ass-into-sass and @justlikedsstuff the floodgates are open.
Imagining all the Beifongs, not just Toph having extremely sensitive seismic sense.
Just i imagine it's a very strong experience, strong enough to literally replace a sense. I imagine that it can be incredibly overwhelming for people who use it alongside other senses, eg. not replacing a sense like in Toph's case. I also imagine that the younger you learn it, the bigger difficulty you have 'turning it off'.
I like to imagine it can cause migraines and overstimulation in frequent users. But being unable to use it can cause anxiety and distress, as losing any other sense would.
Lin and Su knowing when their mother is lying about coming back home before dinner.
Su listening to her mother and sister's heartbeats and wishing that they'd just speak what was on their hearts.
Lin hearing Tenzin's heart speading up when he would look at Pema and not her. Lin having difficulty walking and keeping herself balanced after losing her bending to Amon, feeling literally blinded. Trying to keep it together in front of Amon and the Equalists but having a panic attack the moment she's alone because she can't feel anything, she can't feel anything, she can't feel anything
Su being hesitant to teach Huan and the twins seismic sense, because she knows how difficult it is for children to handle. But of course, they're stubborn little things and they start learning by themselves.
Its a very rare ability, but it comes surprisingly easy to the Beifongs. Though the cost is thay children are made to deal with senses sharper than their little minds are meant for.
I always headcanon that Huan has a particularly well developed seismic sense, which is the reason he's so testy and emotional. He can feel almost everything around the house (think dolores from encanto lol) and he has difficulty processing the overwhelming amount of stimuli. He tries to express it through art and he wears thick soled shoes to block it all out.
The twins are quite the opposite. They lean into it, so much so that they refused to wear shoes when they were younger. They were also heavily affected by being suspended in a wooden cage after the family's capture. To this day they feel incredibly anxious if seperated from it for too long.
Thinking about Opal and Baatar Jr not getting the sheer magnitude of feeling everything around you like that and thinking that their siblings are just being dramatic.
Thinking about the Beifongs pulling up their feet or trying to touch the ground as little as possible when stressed or overwhelmed. Or walking barefoot if upset or unsure, to get that connection.
Thinking sbout sensing heartbeats. Hearing the moment something or someone dies for the first time. Is it an animal, a random baby bird killed by an alley cat, a beloved pet? Or is it a person?
Lin killing a criminal in the line of duty. It wasn't her fault, technically. She did everything right, she defended the civilians he was holding hostage. But she tried to block the bleeding, hearing his heatbeat get slower and slower, until it stopped completely. How empty her head must've seemed when she could no longer hear it. How visceral the guilt must've been.
Arguments must be difficult. You can feel when you hit a nerve, sense the other person's anger, tell when they go completely cold towards you.
You can never lie, not to your family. No little white lies that make day to day life easier. No secrets. All blunt honesty and beating hearts filling your ears.
You immediately know when you've said something wrong. When you've hurt someone's feelings. The guilt is instantaneous. The slight skip of someone's heartbeat is like a slap to the face.
You know when someone's lying to you. You know they're lying when they say they'll be back for dinner. You know they're lying when they tell you they'll hang out with you tomorrow. You know they're lying when they say that they love you.
Do you call them out?
Or do you keep the peace, grin and bear it?
Can you even lie to yourself, or will your own heart betray you to yourself?
You know when a sibling is crying down the hall, know that they will be witness to every intimate moment you have, as the you will be to them.
Like there's so much to do with seismic sense. I want it to be less of a gimmick and more of a deep psychological experience. Like it is in all its essence a sense. It's probably a big part of its users lives.

Just Thinking
With everything Lin’s been through I’m surprised she never had an Azula-esque mental breakdown.
This woman had an absent father, a neglectful mother, basically had to raise her sister because Toph wouldn’t then got her face sliced open by said sister. Her sister leaves after that and then her mom leaves about (guessing here) a year or so afterwords and just hangs out in a swamp. She joins the police to impress her mother and goes on to become the chief and her mom still doesn’t care.
Her job is immensely stressful, her friends are across the world ( Izumi is in the fire nation, Kya is traveling, Bumi is in the UF) and she gets left by Tenzin (who she’s probably known and been friends with since infancy) for a younger woman.
Presumably there would also be the pressure of the Beifong name and title and the maintenance of the estate after her grandparents die because I don’t see Toph handling that. Additionally all of her mentors either die or move away from the city (Aang dies, Sokka dies, Zuko is in the fire nation, Katara moves to the south) . Obviously we know from the show she handles her emotions poorly and bottles them up. We also know that she’s kind of socially-awkward at times like Azula.
Then we get into the issues of each season. RC already has organized crime that she has to fight to take down then the avatar lands on her door step and destroys public property and agitates the equalist situation. Then Lin looses her job which she has dedicated her entire life to. Outside of her job she doesn’t have a lot going for her. Then she sacrifices herself to save the family of the guy that cheated on her and looses her bending in the process. That must be soul crushing and no one shows up to save her or support her in her time of need.
Season two she has to deal with the attacks in RC and deal with her detective being falsely accused and then with the spirit vines overtaking her city.
Season Three she has to protect the avatar from a terrorist group and is forced to see her sister after thirty years. This experience is obviously super overwhelming for her and then she’s pressured into meeting all these new people (our girl is an introvert). Additionally the stress of her job is physically taking a toll on her as seen throughout the episode. She goes to get acupuncture which resurfaces all of her old painful memories and then when she has an outburst ( understandable she’s going through a lot) everyone is mad at her. ( I have so much more to say about this but I don’t want this post to be a novel) . The battle with the Red Lotus: she was nearly killed and she watched P’Li die. that had to be gory. Even if Lin has seen a lot of death that’s a VERY gruesome way to go.
Season four is obviously stressful for her but there’s particular instances that stick out here: Toph hiding who her dad was just to go and tell Bolin ( this must’ve been so immensely hurtful for Lin: think about it she didn’t even know her dad was from the fire nation until her mom casually told Bolin, that means Lin went fifty four years not even knowing her ethnicity ) . But also the way that after everything Toph’s done she’s just expected to forgive her ? And Lin is so incredibly self-sacrificing that she just swallows her own feelings and does.
Here are the things that really irk me the most
Circling back to season three: “Bitter loner who only cares about herself. No wonder Tenzin ended things with you years ago”
Wow, just wow this is so genuinely awful. But also untrue. Lin has made so many sacrifices, she’s put her life on the line multiple times for Korra and had her bending ripped away from her while protecting Korra.
Bringing up Tenzin was a low blow and so immature of Su.
Lin is so forgiving and no one appreciates her or acknowledges the tremendous amount of pain they put her in.
Also Lin has massive scars on her face. She has to see those every day. That has to take a toll on her self esteem. Not only that they look painful and deep. For all we know she could have sensitivity or be completely numb in that area.
This pisses me off the most: Toph could feel everything through the vines apparently so that means she knew when Lin lost her bending but she didn’t show up for her. Realizing this broke my heart for Lin.
In conclusion Lin has been through a lot. She is traumatized. Yeah she’s grumpy and she has outbursts and she cries in the Zafou episodes but none of this feels like a proportional response to everything she’s been through . I don’t think she as a character can heal until she really processes things and lets it all out but all we see is her continuing to work and heap more pressure on herself. That isn’t sustainable and eventually will create consequences much worse than what we’ve already seen.
I see parallels between her and Azula ( I won’t get into it) and with the strained relationship Lin has with Toph I could see her having an Azula-moment.
youtube
Thanks for listening to my disorganized thoughts .

In the dragon Faunus au, what Adam up to or is it eve in this au?
The Splintering
Upon a stage before a throng of faunas strode one, Adam Tauras: He was called many things by his enemies: radical, extremest, terrorist. But, to his fellow faunas he was much more than the lies they spread about him; for he was a leader, an equalist, a hero!
Adam: Brothers, and sisters of the, White Fang! Here is our would be king! The supposed dragon faunas. This human in sheep’s clothing’s… But, do not take that as a note of disdain towards him. For he possesses many faunas traits, unlike use who posses one trait, with some minor additional sub-traits. Jaune Arc, the Dragon King possesses five unique traits! An elongated tongue, and retractable fangs that can bite through solid metal! Retractable talons hidden within his hands, the ability to breath fire. And, based upon the reports of our field operative, his majesty is currently in the process of growing horns, these are no doubt to become a crown that signifies his rank among all faunas. As our king!
Adam: Now, many of you have no doubt heard that his majesty has made contact with, Kali Belladonna, and High Leader Khan. They are no doubt trying to sway his grace towards their side. A side of human lovers…
Angry jeers, and cries of outrage echoed throughout the hall. Some even spitting in disgust on the floor at this revolting piece of news.
Adam: I know! I know brothers, and sisters that is grave news. But, worry not! For we will not allow this to stand! For the glory of the faunas, and for the glory of our future king! All shall see the true might of the faunas! For we shall send our most valuable assists to meet with his grace, and tell him the true might of the faunas!
As, Adam step back, a pair of fox faunas step forward, one with a tail, and another with a set of ears. The Albain Brothers, Fennec, and Corsac Albain.
Fennec: Brothers, and sisters we bring forth tidings of great joy; The legend is true: The Dragon King is among us!
The crowd cheered, and howled as the news echoed throughout the crowd.
Corsac: Legends for told of his, Majesty coming, for his arrival will bring forth a golden age for all of, Remnant, and more importantly, a better age for all faunas!
Fennec: His, Majesty may have aligned himself with the more… peaceful faction of the, White Fang. But, my brother, and I shall be heading to, Beacon Academy to tell him of the glory of the faunas, so that he will know how to lead all faunas to a brighter future!
Corsac: We must move swiftly before others dig their filthy claws into his, Majesty, and spread lies to him! But, worry not brothers, and sisters, for we shall set them right!
FC: For the glory of the Faunas!
Adam: FOR THE GLORY OF THE FAUNAS!!!
The crowd cheered, chanting, ‘Glory to the Faunas’ over, and over again. Adam let them cry out for a time before stepping forward, and silencing the crowd before him.
Adam: Now, before we make our preparations for our departure to meet out, King, is there anything you lot want to ask?
Adam’s voice demanded silence, for he knew none would dare ask anything, forhis word was law amongst his brothers, and sisters. And yet, a single hand shot up into the air. Adam gritted his teeth as he held back a snarl within his lips.
Adam: What is it…?
A faunas with white streaks in his brown hair, no doubt a squirrel, or chipmunk faunas of some kind. He held out his scroll as he yelled out his question to those before him.
WF Grunt #1: Uhh… Question! Why are the males, and the female faunas having two separate meetings?
Adam: …
Adam: Eh…?
WF Grunt #2: Yeah, why aren’t their any woman here?
Adam: There aren’t any woman here…?
WF Grunt #3: Ya, ‘der’s just a bunch of boys ‘ere.
Adam: Wasn’t word spread among the ranks about this meeting?
WF Grunt #1: Well yeah, but they told the guys to come here, and the girls to go elsewhere. Why did you do that?
Adam: I didn’t do that! Did you two do that?
Corsac: We have nothing to do with this.
Fennec: This is a matter for all faunas to attend to; why would we exclude half of our kind?
Adam’s mind raced as he look about the crowd. He had no idea why this was happening, but he knew how to find them.
Adam: Where is this meeting taking place!
WF Grunt #1: In the conference hall. I heard they needed to use the monitor in there for something.
Adam jumped off the stage, and rushed towards the hall, a few other members along with the Albain brothers chased after him.
As, Adam reached the conference hall he saw something, and someone he didn’t want to see.
Adam: Ohh… fuck…
Adam could only swear in fear as upon stage before a picture of the Dragon King, was the one person he feared about hearing about the, Dragon King.
His older sister, Eve Taurus.
Eve: Hello ladies~!
The crowd cheered as she waltz across the stage, her large breasts bouncing with every step.
Eve: Alright girls, see this handsome bastard?
Eve pointed to a smiling photo of, Jaune Arc.
Eve: This sexy son of a bitch is the, Dragon King, Jaune Arc~! A short name that rolls of the tongue, that I for one love~!
Adam: Eve?! What the hell is this?!
Eve stopped in her presentation to address the sudden interruption.
Eve: Oh hey little bro! I’ll talk to you in a moment, Mama’s busy.
Adam: With what?!
Eve: Female faunas stuff. You wouldn’t understand.
Adam: What?
Eve: Okay! I know everyone here, especially me, wants nothing more then to pounce this handsome specimen till you look like you’re three months pregnant~!
Adam: Wait what?!
Eve: But, if anyone wants a chance with this guy, all of you must learn the does, and don’ts of seducing this man.
Eve: Okay, there are a few things you must understand about the, Dragon King’s faunas traits. First off, unlike any other faunas, Jaune Arc posses several traits, and is in fact developing more as we speak.
WF Grunt #4: Seriously?!
WF Grunt #5: How many traits does he poses?!
Eve: In total, he has five traits!
WF Grunt #4: HOLY SHIT!
WF Grunt #6: We usually have one main trait, and a few sub traits! But, five traits?!
WF Grunt #5: What are his traits!
Eve: Okay! First off: He has retractable fangs, and is capable of opening his jaw very wide like many snake faunas can.
A photo of, Jaune appeared on the screen showing his mouth wide open, sharp fangs bitting down, and shattering what appeared to be chains.
Eve: See ladies, these are the fangs that our, King possesses. Notice how he is capable of biting through threw metal. So don’t try to chaining him up, he’ll just break the chain.
Eve: With this he has, my personal favourite trait, one hell of a long tongue~!
A photo appeared on the monitor of someone pulling out, Jaune’s rather long tongue from his mouth, much to his disdain.
WF Grunt #6: Holy fuck!
WF Grunt #5: I’ve seen snake faunas with shorter tongues than that!
WF Grunt #4: And, thinner ones at that…
Eve: I don’t know about you girls, but I’m for one interested in finding out what he can do with that~! Now, another one of his traits is his fire breath.
A new photo appeared showing, Jaune roasting marshmallows with his fire breath.
Eve: Now this is rather self explanatory, he can breath fire, hence the moniker of him being a dragon faunas. Just be careful, and try not to get burned. So, sorry, Trifia you won’t be able to wrap him up in your little webs, despite the fact we all know you’re the one into bondage.
Trifia: No I’m not!
The crowd soon started laughing at the poor spider girl’s expense as, Eve continued on with her presentation.
Eve: Now a lot of you feline faunas know what’s these are like. Boom! Talons!
Many of the crowd, particularly the cat faunas oohed, and awwed, at his, once again, rather unique talons.
Eve: These are your pretty standard talons, or claws, whatever you want to call them; The talons hidden under the fingernails can appear on command, yada yada yada. Moving on! Now, there isn’t a photo for this one, for this trait, for this is the trait he is currently developing: Horns. He is currently growing horns.
WF Grunt #5: Horns?
WF Grunt #7: What kind?
Eve: No idea, our sources have just reported on this as a new fact.
Adam: How the hell did you find out about all of this?! You have way more detail on his traits than I do.
Eve: Internet.
Adam: Internet, seriously?!
Eve: Yep, faunas girls like to talk about a hot man. Now quiet, Mama’s busy.
Eve: Now, like most faunas, he also has two common sub traits: A heightened sense of smell, and sight. Now the first one here, his hightten sense of smell is very, very important!
WF Grunt #6: What’s so important about that; lots of us have a good sense of smell?
Eve: Well~! Here we have the lovely Milf of Menagerie, Kali Belladonna.
WF Grunt #5: Preach it sister!
Eve: Before, Kali Belladonna met with, His Majesty, he not only sniffed her out, but he was able to identify that she was the mother of, Blake Belladonna…
Adam: My beloved!
Eve: SHUT UP! Anyway, he was able to tell that she was her mother by scent alone. And, because of his heightened sense of smell, he can easily identify… A prime mate~!
WF Grunt #7: A prime mate…
WF Grunt #6: He can find this just by our natural scent…?
WF Grunt #5: How does he do that!
Eve: Behold! Exhibit A: Deputy Headmistress of Beacon Academy, Glynda Goodwitch~! And, I gotta say, his Majesty has great taste~!
WF Grunt #8: Hello mommy~!
Eve: Based upon reports, Jaune Arc~! Ahem! His Majesty smelt her natural body odour by accident, and went into a panic attack, mostly because he didn’t know what was going on. Now, that he knows that he can sniff out prime mates he hides the fact he smelling them out. He’s not doing it intentionally, his sense of smell is just that strong. Look for his nostrils to be flaring, when they are he has picked up a tantalizing smell~! Good, or bad is the question; he used this to hunt, Adam’s little spy so be careful.
Adam: He did?!
Eve: Yeah, so get ready for, Sienna to give you lot a beat down.
Adam: Eh?
Eve: Also, Sienna has been potentially marked out as a prime mate. Again, he has such good taste.
WF Grunt #8: Can you blame him?
WF Grunt #5: I’d pick her if I could.
Eve: So ladies, now that you know his graces traits, you shall now learn how to seduce his, Grace! No shampoo, or any scented fragrance, or at the least something weak. We gotta let him smell your natural aroma to know if he’s interested.
Eve: Next, don’t come after him screaming you want his babies. He’s a family man, you’re either in it for the long haul, or not at all. His preference are more on personality than your body, but he does appear to like the thic hourglass figure, and who can blame him?
WF Grunt #7: Whoo! My odds are getting better all the time! Suck it!
Adam: Wha… Who the hell is giving you all this information?!
Eve: An information broker on the internet.
Adam: You’re paying for this?!
Eve: Hey, ThunderThighs gives good information, it’s well worth the price.
Adam: ThunderThighs?! Who the hell is that?!
~~~
Nora: ACHOO!
Jaune: Bless you. Hey, where did you get all that, Lien?
Nora: Internet.
Jaune: Internet?
Jaune: …
Jaune: You’ve been selling information about me, haven’t you?
Nora: Yes, but this is mostly from selling the photos I’ve taken of you.
Jaune: Photos? What photos?!
Nora: …
Nora: Oops…
~~~
Eve: Don’t know, don’t care. All I care about is the results, and achieving our goal.
Adam: That goal is having him lead the faunas to a brighter future?
Eve: No, the goal, at least our goal is getting into his pants!
Adam paled as he heard the crowd of woman cheer, and howl in agreement at his sisters depraved words.
Fennec: How dare you! His Majesty is far more than this!
Corsac: You should be on the ground worshiping his Majesty, with the respect, and reverence he is due!
Eve: Oh, but I will. But, while you worship him in your silly little temple, I’ll be worshiping him in the bedroom~!
The men that had trickled into the hall mouths dropped in shear shock, and horror. While the ladies in the hall burst into laughter, and cries of agreement.
Eve: Alright ladies, now you know some of the does, and don’t, there’s nothing to be said, but this: ‘Happy hunting ~!’
Adam: Serious, Eve?! The Dragon Faunas has appeared, a being that will lead the faunas into a golden age, and your more concerned about bedding him; What is wrong with you?!
Eve: You’ll never understand woman, little brother. Haa…No wonder, Blake dumped you.
Adam: What…? S-She didn’t dump me.
Eve: …
Adam: Right…?
Eve: Yeah, you just think that, Adam. Now if you’ll excuse me; Mama’s is on the hunt~!

I refuse to go too far down the rabbit hole of bloodbender feelings again, but for some unknown reason as I was going to sleep, it was like—
my brain: you know how Noatak as Amon calls the Equalists his brothers and sisters?
me: we've already discussed this
my brain: but then, when we find out his backstory, it's pretty obvious that he's re-enacting his childhood abuse on a large scale more than anything else, including his resentment of their father's unfair treatment of Tarrlok
me: yes, I know
my brain: like, Amon casts himself as this larger than life protector hero figure, which is the role he originally filled for Tarrlok, tried again to fill for him when he turned on Yakone to protect him, but ultimately failed at. it's all the worse considering what Tarrlok became without Noatak there. it's probably not conscious, but don't you think there's a sort of "this time I'll do it right" going on there?
me: we know I do, but—
my brain: so there's a way in which the Equalists are Tarrlok in his head, even if he doesn't consciously realize it, so calling them his brothers and sisters—
me: yeah.
my brain: and meanwhile the real Tarrlok is now his staunch enemy, and Amon knows that, but his brother doesn't—
me: :'(

Zuko (and Sokka) in Avatar Chibi Short - Bending Battle
Watching the Avatar Chibi Short - Bending Battle was such a weird experience. The animation itself is nice and cute, but there is something truly messed up when Book 1!Zuko - the antagonist - is the only one non-abusive bender toward Sokka. And Katara, Aang and Toph are literally Sokka’s family and friends!
The short animation is about an argument between Katara, Aang and Toph whose element is the best (Sokka tried to join their bender game but his boomerang skill wasn’t taken into account).
To prove her point, Katara - Sokka’s younger sister - froze him and literally shattered into pieces.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toph used Sokka as a ball in a flipper-like game created by her earthbending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Sokka outright said he is tired of being used as everyone’s dummy,
Tumblr media
Aang used his airbending to turn him into a balloon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and once Sokka fell down into lake, Aang was just laughing, so proud of himself and his element.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there is Zuko (and I can't stress enough, in his Book 1’s outfit of the antagonist) who joined the argument by throwing a flame at Sokka…
Tumblr media
except there is no visible sign that Sokka was scorched. Only the fish he held in hand catched the fire and was burned (cooked).
Tumblr media
And there is something to say about that scene, because the animation could easily mark that Sokka was burned in a comedic way - a bit of smoke or smoldering flame here and there - but it didn't. And yeah, in previous scenes there is no permanent damage done either, but we can see Sokka's distress (and pain in cause of Toph's bending?) but it is absent from the fire scene; Sokka's expression does not change at all, while the fish is literally on flame. Which is why I think Zuko's bending did not harm Sokka, and fire was actually aimed at the fish.
A fish that Sokka actually ate at the end of episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And even once the benders had another contest whose power/skills is the best, when Zuko was using his fire, he is the only one to actually warn others to stay away
Tumblr media
while Aang, Katara and Toph just used their respective elements without any warning.
Look, I know this is chibi and not serious animation but damn, it truly hits hard how Zuko (and by extension, Iroh) is the only one person that did not use his element to abuse Sokka, the one non-bender in the group and actually seems to be caution of how dangerous the fire is (and how he couldn’t be aware if his face was burned with fire?) which fits nicely to the original source material and how Zuko did not use fire to burn people on purpose (as could be seen with Zhao during Agni Kai and how he apologized to Toph for burning her feets by accident).
All while Zuko is presented in his Book 1's outfit, when he played the role of antagonist.
On side note, this little animation would be great propaganda material for LoK's Amon and his Equalist movement, wouldn't it? Benders proving their might by abusing non-bender person? Oh yeah, that would be perfect propaganda.

While visiting them, Korra overhears implications that Hiroshi Sato is colluding with the Equalists and informs Chief Beifong and Tenzin, who find no evidence. An Equalist claiming to be disillusioned with the war reveals that Sato has a secret factory under his mansion, used to manufacture weapons for the Equalists. When Korra, Tenzin, and Beifong discover the secret factory, they are attacked by Equalists using large combat machines built by Sato, who reveals that the source was a trap. Beifong's metalbending officers are captured and taken to Amon, but Mako, Bolin, and Asami rescue Korra, Tenzin, and Beifong. Beifong decides to resign her post and rescue her officers, while Korra offers Mako, Bolin, and Asami sanctuary on Tenzin's Air Temple Island.

Next Generation question for the Linzolt Twins:
11. How are their relationships with other relatives (Su and her family)?
Due to the ongoing tension between Lin and Su, the girls didn't spend much time with their extended family when they were really young. However, when the Equalist movement started becoming more aggressive in Republic City, they were sent to Zaofu for their safety. During this time, they were able to get a little closer to the Metal Clan.
Opal knew the girls were stressed about being away from their parents and went out of her way to be kind to them. She would take them on excursions around Zaofu—to bookstores and juice bars and boutiques—and help them redecorate their guest rooms so they would feel more comfortable. She was also the one to comfort them when news arrived that both of their parents had lost their bending.
Poppy loves getting into mischief with Wing and Wei. She spent a lot of her time in Zaofu earthbending and roughhousing with them (and asking Kuvira to teach her new techniques). The three of them stay close even as they get older.
Zola, who tends to be less rambunctious, liked to spend quiet afternoons in the workshop with the Baatars. She didn't have much interest in architecture or engineering, but they spoke in soft voices and were well read and gave her snacks. By the end of her stay in Zaofu, she was very fond of both of them.
When the girls were overcome with anxiety about the state of things back home, Huan would give them art lessons. He was a mostly patient teacher, and the twins both think highly of him, despite his eccentricities.
Su tried to take Poppy under her wing right away, knowing that she was a skilled metalbender. Su gave her private metalbending lessons and invited her to join the dance troupe. While Poppy didn't mind spending time with her aunt, she didn't care for the way she seemed to be favored over her sister. Zola, for her part, was happy that Suyin mostly left her alone and appreciated the firebending teacher her aunt hired just for her.
Ask me about my next gen ocs!

okay so I’m not normally one to do {character} w plot of {disney character} or just another character in general but. but hear me out.
anastasia mako. HELP. for a little background I’m playing anya (anastasia) in my school play and my friend’s little sister is making us both watch the movie. it’s breaking my tradition of NEVER watching the movie before performing a show, so I’m just blasting the musical soundtrack on my headphones and posting this, so,,,
ANYWAYS! since I make everything about mako, let’s get going with this.
anastasia-mako parallels:
-orphan
-resemblance to royalty (specifically eyes—gold for mako, blue for anastasia)
-really funny when they get bitchy
-best friend is their little brother (alexei-bolin)
-important person who’s actually a street rat x street rat relationship dynamic (anya x dmitry, korra x mako)
-communist party/equalists!!
-keepsake item (music box/scarf)
-that’s all I’ve got but like. just listen.
zuko has two daughters; izumi and naoki. Izumi is destined for the throne and naoki doesn’t particularly want it—she’s left to her own devices, for the most part. then, naoki falling in love with an earthbender named san; they have two children, mako and bolin. mako and bolin are mixed, but current firelord zuko loves them all the same. they are raised in the palace until mako is eight and bolin is six. it’s at that point that a group of dissenters on zuko’s policies attack the palace, killing princess naoki and prince san in the castle, before abducting and likely also killing the little princes.
but a month later, the prince bolin returns! the fire nation celebrates, the beloved second branch of the royal family is not completely gone! but the halls of the palace are silent and devoid of celebration; the prince mako has not returned. and by the stone wall of silence prince bolin has made himself, it’s likely he never will.
but a month later, bolin speaks again for the first time since his parents’ death—mako is alive out there, somewhere, and they just need to find him. immediately, search efforts are employed, scouts and soldiers and notices sent out all around the world calling for help to return their prince. firelord zuko even offers a large bounty for his return, though he hates when it’s called such.
meanwhile, in republic city, a boy with no name and no memories wakes up on the side of a road. fresh snow painted the ground, blood (his blood?) soaking it red. the scarf wrapped around his neck matches in pigment. he shivers in clothing made of fine silks and meant for the warmth, trekking forward. he quickly discovers his clothes are worth enough to find something rougher for warm and cold. (he doesn’t consider for a second selling the scarf.) he doesn’t even know his own name, but the cold sinking beneath his skin tells him it’s a deal he needs to cut.
he finds odd jobs around. his first is working at a hospital. he doesn’t get payed monetarily, but they heal the nasty lightning scar that mangles him, stretching from his cheek and down his arm to his waist and feed him. the nice old lady named kya gives him odd looks now and then (she’s never met the prince mako, but she’s seen pictures. she should check. she just needs to check.) but she gives him extra clothes for free, so he doesn’t mind. he moves to washing dishes when the hospital can hire better equipped staff and his scar is healed. he needs to get actual yuan now—he wants to pay for passage to the fire nation. the scarf he clung to, a little embroidery was stitched into it; ‘together in caldera’. that’s his only clue to the eight years before, and he’s desperate to chase it.
he becomes a street sweeper after that, and uses whatever name people give him. he’s been masok and yiso and aizah and saijan and noriaki and roki and kichirō and just about every name under the sun. usually, people call him after their late family. something in that feels oddly fitting to him, but he doesn’t dwell on it. the name that sits the most in his head is masok, so it’s masok that he sticks with.
he spends his years with the triads. they all look at him the same way—a way he doesn’t see them look at the other kids who have no choice but gang work. he’s stared at like a prize. he gets invited to play a game of pretend, but he knows games with old men never end well for children, and he’s far too old for games like that by age 10.
he eventually settled in as an assistant for an office worker who rarely spares him a glance—he counts himself lucky that he’s no longer on the wrong side of the law and that he was never caught. where he is now pays well and if he keeps it up a while longer and is smart with saving, he’ll be on an airship and to caldera city in no time at all.
republic city falls into crisis, a madman calling himself amon leading the ‘equalists’ to try and destroy all benders. he only takes that as incentive to get out faster, while he still can.
and then, of course, the avatar comes crashing into his life in the most insane way possible. you would think it’d be unlikely for the avatar to encounter a paper-pusher, and you’d be right, except this particular avatar just ran over said paper-pusher with her giant ass polar bear dog which OW PLEASE GET IT OFF NOW!
she apologizes by taking him to meet her rich friend, asami, who’s helping her deal with the whole amon situation. he is decidedly not smitten immediately with either of them, especially because the avatar literally ran him over with her polar bear dog. but korra starts prodding him about the missing fire nation prince and for some reason asami (who had until then seemed reasonable) agreed. they argued that, without his scar and after growing out his scraggly close cut hair, he would look exactly like the prince. not even to mention that their timelines match up, and masok’s mystery past. he tells them they’re crazy, but the idea creeps on him, looming in the back of his head.
what if he is the prince? it does match up, there is a resemblance, and those little snippets of memory tug incessantly at his mind. a little brother, a loving grandfather, was it all really?
they teach him about the fire nation royal family. to jog his memory, they say, as he learns about bolin and zuko and izumi and naoki and san. they teach him to stand straight like a prince and not slurp his noodles and raise his chin but not look down his nose.
he follows along with their schemes, much to his chagrin, as he finds himself put on blast in amon’s threatening grip. an example is to be made of him, the world is told from a large screen. he tries not to break his composure, but something in this is familiar and his heart is beating out of his chest in an effort to understand exactly what.
amon says that mako should’ve learned his lesson years ago, when the palace was attacked, and never shown his scarred face again, much less at the avatar’s side.
mako, amon said.
and suddenly mako (yes, mako. that felt right on his tongue.) recalls bombs and screaming and burning flesh and a dead mother and father and the need to protect a little brother who was ripped away and a burning, burning, burning, and electric pain all down his side and then waking up and remembering none of it or any of what came before and he is the lost prince of the fire nation. he strikes up with fire and lightning crackles along his fingertips and he tells amon to finish him the way he finished his mother and father.
amon asks who he thinks he is, a pathetic child, to stand against the equalist forces. and mako (mako, mako, mako. that is who he always was.) proudly declares what he had not known he had a right to. he is prince mako, of the fire nation. amon will rise, or amon will die.
a stunning lightning strikes him at his side and amon does not get to choose. show us who you are, amon, an urging comes from within mako. he peels off the man’s mask. he is water tribe, a scar… painted(?) on his face. mako is on camera, he knows, but if there is something more than the identity reveal causing the panic on amon’s face, mako needs to find out.
the texture of his scar is nothing like mako’s, and he dumps water on it to be sure. the paint comes off dripping and—amon’s limbs twitch again and the water bends away from him. the leader of the equalists is a waterbender.
amon dies, as simple as that, with his brother at his side.
mako is ready to take some time to process what was revealed publicly, on national broadcast, that he hadn’t even known himself, but he can’t seem to catch a break. first korra and asami are affectionately assaulting him (oh god he’s in love with them both) and then prince bolin (bo, he always called him bo) is walking through the trap door of his attic.
mako just about falls over. why was he here? was he going to say that mako had died that night, and all his ‘memories’ were just tricks of the mind to suit his fancies? was he going to accuse mako of slandering the royal family because he looked so terribly taken care of that it was insulting to be associated with him?
none of this happened. he teared up, green eyes locking onto gold. he barrels forward, wrapping his waveringly declared brother in a hug. mako calls out a too-familiar nickname, too late to stop himself, sucking in a breath nervously.
it’s been too long, he is told. it’s time to go home. he still has the scarf, he affirms in hysterical relief.
and mako, masok, the street orphan with nothing but a brightly dyed red scarf to his name, puts on the robes of a fire nation prince with the avatar and a genius inventor at his side. he sweeps onto a balcony, falling into straight-backed composure with ease, greeting a sea of citizens.
a servant declares to his right,
“Prince Mako has returned home!”

Not @objectivemistress dragging me back into my Makorra feels and I had to make a Legend of Korra oc. 😩
Things that are different in this AU in Book 1 alone:
Obviously, Korra has an older sister and thus would not be so isolated away from people her own age so Korra will actually have friends that are referenced and discussed instead of Bolin and Mako seemingly being her first friends ever.
Tenzin was married before Pema and has a son named Yang. His first wife was the daughter of Ty Lee and Lin’s best friend. The breakdown of Tenzin and Lin’s relationship is because of his remarriage to Pema after his first wife’s death rather than a failed romance. This also allows Aang the chance to hold one of his grandchildren.
Yang is not Korra’s air bending master as they want an actual adult to train her and Korra does not like Yang because of the end of his relationship with Ruo.
Korra will attend school and become more integrated within the community of Republic City.
The Red Lotus will actually be overarching villains with Amon being a sect of the Red Lotus.
Asami will actuall have a character arc where she is an Equalist who has a change of heart but she and her dad are discovered before she can come clean to Mako, which is why they break up. She does help the others at the end of book one.
While there will be a love triangle, Mako and Korra do not act out their feelings until the end of Book 1. Korra does not act on her feelings because she saw her sister’s heartbreak over Yang’s playboy nature which led to the breakup.
Bolin initially has a crush on Ruo rather than Korra.
The Equalists won’t feel confined to Republic City.
Korra will have more dreams and visions of her past lives although they will be unable to communicate with her.

Watched Book 1 and Book 2 all the way through again. Soon I will start again with Book 3. The Legend of Korra is practically a masterpiece, especially when you understand what genre the show is, with which themes the show actually deals with and perhaps most importantly the structure of the story.
Here are again brief instructions and explanations:
1. TLOK is DieselPunk fantasy (reason why there are cars, airships and RetroFuturistic technologies like Mechas) and main theme is conflict between tradition and progression and what place Korra as a person and Avatar have in this new modern world.
2. TLOK have two story arcs, Book 1 is more or less self-contained mini series, while Books 2, 3 and 4 were simultaneously in production and make a 3-part story arc that is basically a reverse ATLA story arc. First arc I call "The Equalists arc" while second arc I call "A New Spiritual Age arc".
Titles of Books aren't random: Book 2: Spirits is dealing with changes between Material and Spirit Worlds, Book 3: Change is dealing with unforeseen good and bad consequences that change caused, and Book 4: Balance, well, to finally find Balance in this new modern, drastically changed world.
3. Aang fights a super villain, Ozai, who is a firebender, who is horrible to his children (brother and sister), and who uses a cosmic event (Sozin's Comet) to boost his powers to try destroying the world at the END of the story.
Korra fights a super villain, Unalaq, who is a waterbender, who is horrible to his children (brother and sister), and who uses a cosmic event (Harmonic Convergence) to boost his powers to try destroying the world at the BEGINNING of the story.
4. At the end of ATLA Book 2 the Earth Kingdom has fallen and Aang almost die at the end and Katara take care for his recovery.
At the end of TLOK Book 3 the Earth Kingdom has fallen and Korra almost die at the end and Asami take care for her recovery.
5. Unalaq misused spiritual and mystical powers for destruction and conquer, Kuvira misused scientific and technological powers for destruction and conquer, and replicate Unalaq/Vaatu powers by making basically Mecha-Unavaatu.
6. Every main villain represents some form of fascism/fascist like ideology:
Amon and Equalists: non-benders supremacists,
Unalaq: clero-fascism,
Red Lotus: (more or less) anarcho-primitivists,
Kuvira: Nazism.

More of the Korra, Tarrlok and Amon are siblings AU please?
Continued from: [Link], [Link], [Link], [Link], [Link], [Link], [Link], [Link], and [Link].
Kahva goes to her sons. Noatak is in a waterbender proof cell awaiting trial, and Tarrlok is hiding in his house, avoiding the press while the police round up what's left of the equalists. Eventually the courts will order an investigation of him for concealing his identity, and holding office as a member of the Southern Water Tribe, when in fact he was born and raised as a member of the Northern Water Tribe, but for now, he isn't under arrest.
So Kahva goes to her sons. She visits Noatak first. He doesn't talk to her, so she talks to him. She tells him about the Southern Water Tribe and his sister. Nothing he can use, just things like the time she got her hands on an entire bag of jelly candy and tried to eat them by herself, and ended up throwing up rainbow colored vomit all night. She tells him about realizing what his father was, and about how he died, and she talks about missing him and Tarrlok each so much, and never knowing where they were. And when he doesn't say anything back, she leaves and goes to visit his brother.
It's both easier and harder with Tarrlok. He tries to charm her. He's practiced at it. He's glib and a little oily. But she shuts that right down. So he shuts down. So she draws him out. So he turns on the charm. And round and around they go. She asks him just what he thought he was doing in Republic City, and they both end drained and a little shaken.
The next morning, she goes back to Noatak's cell

Katrina is the current incarnation of the Guardian and immediate successor of Guardian Ceres. Born and raised in the Southern Water Tribe with her twin sister, Avatar Korra, where she mastered waterbending, earthbending, and firebending, she later relocated to Republic City to attain a similar proficiency with airbending under the tutelage and guidance of Tenzin. With the assistance of Ceres's spirit, Katrina gained the ability to energybend and, after connecting with her past lives, she gained the capacity to enter the Guardian State at will, marking her transition into a fully realized Guardian.
Katrina started a romantic relationship with the general of the United Forces and, the son of Fire Lord Izumi, a member of the Fire Nation Royal Family, as well as a firebending master and skilled military leader, Iroh II.
History:
Katrina was born to Tonraq and Senna after Korra by five minutes in the Southern Water Tribe following the deaths of Avatar Aang and Fire Lady Guardian Ceres in 153 AG. At the age of four, she and Korra introduced themselves to the Order of the White Lotus as the new Avatar and Guardian by Korra performing water-, earth-, and firebending while Katrina performed water-, earth-, fire-, and airbending before them. She honed her waterbending under the tutelage of Katara, though unlike her twin sister's instinctive aggressive style, Katrina's style is the calm, slow movements the elderly master pass on to her.
After Chief Unalaq learned that his nieces are the Avatar and Guardian, he constantly sought Tonraq's permission to train Korra and Katrina in the spiritual ways of the Water Tribe, but his estranged brother shot him down. Since he secretly desired to indoctrinate Korra and Katrina in the ways of the Red Lotus and coerce them to reopen the long-dormant spirit portals to release Vaatu, Unalaq commissioned Zaheer, Ghazan, Ming-Hua, and P'Li to kidnap them in 158 AG.
However, due to the efforts of Tonraq, Chief Sokka, Fire Lord Zuko, and Councilman Tenzin, the attempt was thwarted, and the criminals were apprehended, although Unalaq's involvement remained unknown. After the incident, Tonraq and Tenzin decided to seclude the Avatar and Guardian in the Southern Water Tribe compound, away from the public eye as they pursued the bending arts.
Trivia:
• Katrina means "Pure" in Greek.
• Unlike Korra, Katrina always carried a water skin everywhere she goes, so she carries three water skins, similar to Katara during the invasion.
• Katrina has a pet Snow Leopard Cat name Amari, whom she met with Naga when she and Korra were young. Since Amari grew up to be the same size as Naga, Katrina rides on her with a saddle just like Korra with Naga.
• Katrina is the first Guardian who has lightning generation.
• Katrina is the second Guardian who can use metalbending, the first is Ceres. Unlike her sister, Katrina carries metal with her wherever she goes.
• Katrina is the second Guardian who can use bloodbending, the first is Ceres. However, while Ceres can only bloodbend during the full moon, Katrina can bloodbend at will without the aid of the full moon, but they both share the desire to never use bloodbending again.
• Like Korra, Katrina is also a healer.
• Since she was a child, even after finding out she is the Guardian, Katrina used to take dancing as one of her hobbies. Because of this, she uses her knowledge of dancing to avoid her enemy's attacks.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
Aww, thanks! It's hard to pick a favorite when I've written so much, but here are five that I currently have good feelings about.
1- tolerably well acquainted (an elaboration of Elizabeth's feelings during the book canon scenes at Pemberley and after; WIP but all Pemberley scenes are posted)
For, maybe, once in her life, she had yet to reach judgment. He was at all times Mr Darcy of Pemberley, but Mr Darcy at Pemberley seemed so entirely distinct from Mr Darcy everywhere else that she scarcely knew what to think. Instead, the same thoughts coursed through her mind without resolution, returning over and over again with no answers.
She dwelt on them nevertheless, her habits of courtesy carrying her through the Bromleys’ conversation as it shifted to other subjects. All the while, she wondered how a single person could contain so many contradictions, and seem so wholly unaware of it himself. His manners had been so altered, though; the man who spoke to her mother’s brother and the one who had (rarely) spoken to her mother herself might have been different creatures altogether. Perhaps he had realized—perhaps he had listened—
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
2- the voices of the sea (in which f!Faramir dreams of water; part of the Aranorverse, but a completed one-shot)
Míriel dreamed again of Armenelos and the Meneltarma and the shadow of death rising inexorably above all. But there was no waking. The wave slowly began to collapse over them, foam and droplets spattering her face before it reached her. Míriel stood tall and straight, refusing to cower, allowing herself no further weakness than blinking the water out of her face. She opened her eyes to more water, feeling it slosh about her bare ankles.
But it was now deep into night beneath a pale moon, just bright enough for her to see that the water in which she stood flowed smoothly past the familiar shores of the Anduin. The terror of the Downfall had shifted to an overwhelming sense of peace.
As she watched, she saw a small boat come floating up the river.
3- per ardua ad astra (in which Jyn, Cassian, and Bodhi escape Scarif only to be caught in the Death Star's tractor beam; WIP, if mostly resolved)
He tightened his grasp on the crystal; through his gloves, it warmed his cool hands. Maybe the lingering warmth of Jyn’s body—even on this march to possible death, he shepherded his thoughts away from that—or maybe something else. He didn’t know. At that, Cassian didn’t know what he believed about the Force at all, beyond the reality of its existence. He reserved his faith for the cause. The dream of liberation, given shape by the Rebellion. And by Jyn. A Jedi could appear before him, and it would matter less than this chunk of rock.
He believed in Jyn. In a way, that mattered more than loving her.
4- One More Tomorrow (in which Noatak becomes Amon, ft. f!Tarrlok)
He didn’t mean waiting for the council to see reason. They never would, any of them. Even Taraka.
Particularly Taraka. He’d have liked to imagine that she had simply fallen under the malign sway of her peers, as she had lived under his sway in their childhood. But it was Taraka who spoke out most aggressively against the Equalists, Taraka who advocated for harsher penalties for attacks on benders, Taraka whose reputation rose until the council elected her chairwoman, Taraka who seemed the worst of them all. A monster.
And yet, his sister still.
5- [untitled and unposted. ANYWAY] (GW2 OFC/ OFC fic)
Gwen hadn’t cried, and some part of her desperately wished she could. But there was enough of the bandit Gwen left in her to keep her eyes dry. Don’t show weakness. Not here, not ever. Don’t stop until Zhaitan and his kind are gone, and the world is safe for everyone I love. Even—especially people like Tybalt.
Preceptor Doern had summoned her with a new assignment. And worse, with a new partner. But after one glance at the haughty, silk-clad human at his side, Gwen nearly recoiled.
"Lightbringer Althea," she said.

Invisible Wounds (Angstpril 2023 #2)
The sunset was gentle, the air was mild, the footsteps were airbender-light.
Lin was unsurprised when Meelo finally came into view.
She was surprised when he handed her a cup of tea, and settled down to sit beside her.
They sat in silence long enough for the sun to disappear below the horizon, and the sky far above their heads to begin shading into night. The wind blew steadily off the water, bringing the smell of the ocean.
In the distance, a cloud flashed with lightning, and Lin shuddered.
“You don’t like lightning anymore, do you?”
Lin turned her face to Meelo, whose face was uncharacteristically serious.
“How many times did the Equalists shock you?”
She searched his eyes, seeing the worry and concern. “I don’t know if I want to say it out loud. There are parts of me that still hurt.” She caught her breath. “Did they shock you or your mother?” she asked, just above a whisper.
He just shook his head.
“Your sisters?” Another shake.
“Your dad?”
Meelo’s eyes watered, and he fell against her side. She wrapped him up, and squeezed him tightly. He shook silently, and she just held him. In front of her, the sky continued its slow darkening.
Below her arm, Meelo shivered and rubbed the back of his hand across his face. She kept one hand on his shoulder, heavy and firm, but stared out over the water while he collected himself.
With a shuddering breath, he looked up at her, so she met his eyes.
“You can’t see, but I saw burns on his legs. He didn’t want to talk about them, either.” His face wrinkled. “Do you have burns?”
Lin gave the smallest nod she could.
He reached up and gently traced the scars on her cheek.
“Are nightmares scars?”
Lin blinked.
“I had never thought of it that way, but I think you’re right, Meelo. We all carry invisible wounds.” It was so hard to draw a breath against the wave of emotion. “I’m sorry we couldn’t protect you better.”
He gave her a restrained (for him) smile.
“We’re ok now. You’ll always be my hero.”
He hugged her again, and did not let go for a long, long time.
When his snores evened out and his hand fell to her lap, she carried him back inside.

Snippet of my Tarrlok time travels fic
Tarrlok thinks 'no, we don't get to have a happy ending. We don't get to just pretend none of this happened. We don't GET to just put everything behind us.'
But this is a lie.
Because he thought nothing at all, as he put on the Equalist glove, Amon-Noatak-Amon a distant haze of sound. Far away.
It wasn't Tarrlok. Who did these things. It was like when he was a child Like when he was a man and Amon Noatak Amon and his body betrayed him, moving on its own. But Amon-Noatak-Amon-Noatak-Amon was talking but he wasn't- And Tarrlok didn't-couldn't-
As he unscrewed the fuel cap.
As he put on the glove.
As he put it against the open fuel tank and activated the glove.
Activated Hell.
An inferno of Loud-Hot-Hot-Hot-Pain-metal biting furiously into skin-pain-force-
Nothing.
---
He wakes up in a bed.
---
Tarrlok wakes to screaming, crying.
Which is a lie that he will tell when anyone asks. It's not his.
But it is, because Spirits, he can't see. He hurts, he burns he aches and hurts and its a pain that will never ever never go away.
He fights.
The news spreads fast, like any good gossip. Blood in water. And the shark's are oh-so hungry.
'COUNCIL MEMBER COLLAPSES DURING IMPORTANT MEETING'
'COUNCILMAN FALLEN: MALICIOUS ATTACK OR SPIRITUAL WARNING'
'COUNCILMAN TARRLOK IN HOSPITAL, REASONS UNKNOWN'
'ASSASSINATION OR POOR HEALTH, COUNCILMAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION'
The papers are headlined.
Market days echo theories and word spreads like an illness that councilman Tarrlok, a man who, like most politicians, considered himself above them all, collapsed screaming mid-speech during a council meeting.
"They say that the healers can't figure out what's wrong with him."
"I hear that it was an equalist plot to remove the Councilman."
"My sister works at the hospital and she says-"
---
Tarrlok wakes.
He wishes he didn't.
