I love Strategic advantage by Stairheads (Acthna) on AO3!
Strategic Advantage
Summary: Kenric Fathdon and Oralie Luceria mix about as well as Oil and water, willing to exist within the same space, unable to combine.
But when their shaky relationship threatens their teams involvement in their next tournament they’re both determined to make amends, at whatever cost... even if that means attending the annual school ball together to prove it.
OR
Kenric and Oralie form and unlikely friendship as they figure out the world together.
My thoughts: I absolutely love the dynamic that's been set up in the fic so far! Kenric and Oralie are always fascinating characters to read about, and this fic does an incredible job of looking at what they might've been like as kids. I also love how it explores the different experiences of being a non-Nobility student at Foxfire, since we don't get to see that all that much in canon.
Ao3 is actually massively culturally important and very very good at being what it is. I’m so serious when I say that ao3 needs to be protected as the anti censorship, by fans for fans, nonprofit, volunteer run, expertly designed archival site that it is. You don’t have to read or like fanfiction to understand that on principle, ao3 is a site that should be defended.
Since the frog theme I made earlier was light mode, I decided to make a dark mode skin as well. This one is galaxy-themed and in shades of purple, pink, and blue.
You can get the code and instructions for how to use it here.
ao3 is down. what am i supposed to do?? continue writing my own fic??? HA you almost got me!! absolutely not. u can't fool me ao3. i'm not falling for that trick.

Let’s be real, in the next few days/months, AO3 could be like “hey, due to the unexpected costs of maintaining and updating our servers after the attack, we would need about 10K please. We would accept any penny you can bear to part with, but don’t force yourself!”
and then get 500K, a house, a brand new server, and a kidney in about the time necessary to read a 1.5k word long oneshot.
so like. if anyone else, like me, still has the occasional fanfic they follow on fanfiction.net, and hasn't been getting the update emails for the longest time and was wondering if ti meant the site is on its last legs
no
no they've done something stupid as fuck
you have to opt back in to getting the emails/notifications of new chapters every six months, because they automatically assume you don't want to know when the fics you followed for the updates have updated
For those of you watching the death spiral of Twitter in real time THIS IS WHY us fandom olds always defend AO3 and it’s donation drives.
Twitter is an incalculable loss for artistic expression, news, and so many other facets I can’t even begin to count.
This sort of loss of information is impossible with AO3 and how it’s set-up. Obviously an AO3 style model isn’t sustainable for every site bc the moment images get involved the server costs skyrocket exponentially, but now more than ever the theory applies.
AO3 is an archive of our own, donators have direct say via vote about what happens to the site, you help shape it.
As long as AO3 has donation drives and doesn’t rely on advertisers it will remain around as a foremost place of art and freedom of expression. What happened to Twitter can’t happen to AO3 as it currently exists. And that is why we fight tooth and nail to protect AO3 from corporate interests and out of touch billionaires like Musk.
I hate that Twitter is dying and that anyone has to experience it, but please learn from this experience!

Summary: Fitz didn’t understand love. He didn’t understand the flowers or the bright red cheeks, the so called fluttering and the joy. But to be fair, Fitz didn’t understand a lot of things. So he pretended.
My thoughts: Aro Fitz! I love how this fic depicts Fitz's relationship with expectations from both his family and society. And his struggle trying to understand his relationship with Sophie and what he really wants is incredibly written. Truly a beautiful and amazing fic.
i completely forgot that most people don't find new shows by scrolling tumblr and seeing someone being obsessed with a character/show/ship and going "yeah i'm going to invest hours into my this show so i can be obsessed with it too"
This one was frustrating at some points but mostly it was just a good time. If you'd like to try it out, I've posted the code (and instructions for how to implement a skin on your AO3 account) here.
I’m seeing a lot of stress from Americans about AO3 being down! If that’s the case for you, gentle reader, then may I advise you to take action against KOSA (Kids Online Safety Act)?
This act threatens to allow the government to censor what they decide what they deem “obscene content” online. Given Rupublicans’ very recent history of deeming all LGBT+ content of any type “too obscene for kids”, this can very possibly result in restricting access to any sort of queer resources and queer content online, for the sake of ‘protecting kids’. Which includes your favorite gay fanfics!
