In trollhunters the trolls seem to have a different way of speech then humans, it isn't really seen much and is quite subtle but it is interesting
Take how the trolls say 'trollhunter' for example, to see it watch to catch a changeling when draal trains jim
Humans say trollhunter like 'tr-owl-hunter' (not trowl, like the garden equipment) and trolls say 'tr-oll-hunta'
Blinky however is more sophisticated and says a more human pronunciation, this could also be a lazy voice actor thing? I personally like think it's detail
Another example is blinky saying Argentina. now in the dreamworks art book it shows the trollish alphabet and it has some letters missing and some traded for foreign letters, like that skandinavian 'd' with a line through the stick, meaning trolls will say things we aren't used to in English.
But circling back to blinky, in roaming fees may apply he says 'ar-hen-tina' to which claire repeats it and says it like 'ar-gen-tina'
This can also be repeated in how vendel and draal say Barbara as 'bar-bu-ruh'
I will not include arg in this because it isn't a natural sort of thing, his way of speech was forced
These are the only things at the top of my head, please feel free to expand on this

I love flying tiger
i was in a shopping centre, and went into every single one of the trillion skandinavian interior shops to find an unnecessarily fancy spray bottle for moisturising my snail. didnt find any! only one ugly one to refill cleaning products
went into flying tiger as a last resort and find one on the second shelf i walk past. it is so overly fancy and fits the aesthetic of my snail home

Aaand I'm already done with 2024's first film, just a few hours into the New Year.
It is A Simple Favour and I have no words and too many words at the same time.
Wtf, this is a masterpeice, like perfect from the first second until the last.
It starts as an unsettling thriller, then turns into full Agatha Christie x Skandinavian crime story mystery and you barely figure out what's going on, but it's already a psychological thriller-drama with very wild themes and when you think that's it, a dark drama, it becomes an absurd black comedy and surprises you until the last moment.
Blake serving perfection as always and Anna also going really hard, and the whole movie is aesthetically so pleasing, it was good to watch.

I have a friend whose taste in books is very different from mine (she reads ya romance novels, I read like, skandinavian contemporary novels and philosophy) and it's very nice of her to gift me books( she gave me a copy of a book she accidentally ordered twice as an early Christmas present) but how am I supposed to actually read this 400 page romance about japanese men, that has "boys love" written on the cover, and was written by a hungarian woman & it has sentences like "thank you nee-chan!* *Nee chan means sister in Japanese". It starts with a sex scene that gets interrupted. I feel like I'm reading fanfiction(the bad kind) (not because of the sex) (because of the writing style)
On the other hand I'm surprised by how fast I'm reading this. The writing style is simple and very predictable. I almost forgot what it feels like to read something where I don't have to think

I just watched twin peaks for the first time recently too!! Is it not amazing?? I haven't played Alan Wake (I watched twin peaks cuz of the x files) but now I'm intrigued~
it's incredible!!!
if you like that specific brand of weird, alan wake fits right into that category. it takes soooo much from the twin peaks playbook it's wild.
come to bright falls, washington! we have:
weird and off-putting -but loveable!- townsfolk
coffee loving FBI agent Beset by The Visions
discount log lady
legally distinct bookhouse boys
darkness that makes things Wrong
skandinavians
if you're interested, please for the love of God, don't play the first game. just watch a youtube playthrough or even just a summary. i wish i had tbh

Get to Know me
Thank you for the tag @therealnightcity I had much fun doing something not work related for once 💜
1. Are you named after anyone?
Yes, my mom had a friend when she was little with the name Nadia, my second name Erika (Heather in English) is from my godmother and Dirk, my third name, from my godfather. (but my 2nd and 3rd name aren't on my ID)
2. When was the last time you cried?
Only recently because I'm far too stressed as is good for me. Aside from that I have to prepare a lawsuit because asking nicely doesn't work in this world anymore and I hate it.
3. Do you have kids?
Does a cat and a husband count as kids? It does sometimes, doesn't it?
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Read the answer to the last question and make a guess. Sarcasm and humor are the only things that keep me alive in this society.
5. What sports do you play/have you played?
it depends on do I have palyed them seriously or just every now and then when bored?
Profesionally I played Football (soccer for Americans) and did iceskating.
I still do fencing (although I paused it recently bc of stress at work) and I go as often as possible swimming, didn't do my swim badges for nothing.
6. What's the first thing you notice about other people?
I'm always drawn to people's eyes. I choose my husband bc of his eyes, I literally fell in love with them first.
7. Eye color?
blue/grey
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
I do not watch many movies. I know I'm weird, but I'm fine! I love angst. Happy endings are only worth it when they had to go through so much shit that they really earned it. Does that make sense?
I love horror movies as well, just not "It" from 1990, that clown gives me nightmares. Mission accomplished I guess.
9. Any special talents?
Other than making ice cream vanish? No, no talents that I know of.
OK I have somewhat of a talent for languages, I speak 3 fluently. If I would put in some effort I could easily get into French again I assume. The other languages are German, Dutch and English. Due to me speaking those languages I can translate many skandinavian texts because they often have similar words in either of those languages.
10. Where were you born?
In a town in Germany (Northrhine Westfalia) that was already around in 986 when it was first mentioned historically.
11. What are your hobbies?
I have so many hobbies that I sometimes don't know what to do. At the moment I also have not much time to do anything at all because of my job. When I come home I just want to take my brain out and pretend I'm dead.
When I have time at all I mostly write, VP takes me too much effort to even motivate me. But I have a week off in two weeks so maybe I can get back at it.
12. Do you have any pets?
A cat and a husband. (Sorry sarcasm, cannot help it)
13. How tall are you?
160 cm or 5.2 ft
14. Fave subject in school?
History, Geography, Biology and physics. In exactly that order.
15. Dream job?
Teacher or archeologist/paleontologist.
I'm tagging:
@dreamskug @wraithsoutlaws @vox-monstera @faepunkprince @a-pirate @maimaiapologist @ghostoffuturespast @gloryride @dustymagpie @wanderingaldecaldo @jaymber @fereldanwench
Without any pressure as always :)
