They acted like it was great and all. Tha Audacity. They basically ended her career after that backflip 💀 .On the list of tone deaf Olympics figure skating social media posts, I think this ranks right behind the instagram interview with Alexi Yagudin done right at the height of the Alexi Yagudin fat shaming and jason brown controversies.Edit: here’s the tik tok: here

Does anyone know if there’s gonna be European Skating Champs this year? And if Russia will compete there?

I was just thinking about how many eligible skaters Russia has and how that means they have skaters that could be number one in another country and guarantee an Olympic run. But in Russia even Kostornaia (arguably of the best skaters in the world) doesn’t have a guarantee to the olympics because she doesn’t have ‘ultra’ moves and the other skaters are also world class.I was wondering if she decided to switch to perhaps Canada (has good skaters but not of Kostornaia’s tech or pcs levels or at least enough skaters at that level) to try to guarantee an olympic spot, would that be possible?I am aware of the US skater that is in Japan that is a pair skater, but I am not sure if there are special rules for pairs skaters since that is more about good matches and at least one skater is native to the country. Also if this is possible, why don’t more skaters do this?( p.s. This is hypothetical only, I do not think she should change countries and I have mixed feelings towards the ethicality of such switches.)

Johnny Weir says this frequently. For example, watching Starr Jackson’s short program at nationals, she was supposed to do a triple triple but instead did a double toe loop, no combo.Johnny Weir says:Ladies must complete a triple double, double triple, or triple triple as well as a triple jump out of steps. Not being combination would be considered an out of steps jump.Suppose she completed a triple jump later in her program, why couldn’t her double toe loop count as a failed combo? What does “out of steps” mean?

I ask because Mirai Nagasu made history as the first American lady to land it at the Olympics in 2018 despite coming 10th it was a memorable Olympic moment. I’m sure If Im correct and a Russian lady has yet to do it that will be a goal for the Russians next Olympics and who ever has a stable-ish triple axle by then will certainly have an edge at getting chosen. Just a theory maybe it’s dumb. They’ll break records anyway having a lady jump quads at the Olympics!

The final of the Russian Figure Skating Cup of the 2020/21 season should be held in Moscow from February 26 to March 2. This was reported to RBC Sport by two sources aware of the decision of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKR).The tournament was planned to be held in Veliky Novgorod from February 23 to 27, but in January the president of the FFKKR Alexander Gorshkov informed TASS about plans to move it to Moscow. According to RIA Novosti, the remaining tickets (two each in women’s singles, dances and pairs and one in men’s) to the World Cup in Stockholm will be raffled off at the final of the Cup of Russia. Now in the Russian national team they were guaranteed only by the winners of the national championship, held at the end of December last year in Chelyabinsk - singles Anna Shcherbakova and Mikhail Kolyada, dance duo of Alexandra Stepanova / Ivan Bukin and pair Evgeniya Tarasova / Vladimir Morozov.Article in Russian

Since the US announced their Worlds team that included a skater and a team that haven’t attained their tech minimums there’s been the question of how the ISU will handle tech minimums if Worlds happens. The US has asked the Skate America count for that while others argue that going against what was established at the beginning of the season would be unfair to other skaters. Regardless, there will have to be a decision. Not necessarily for the Vincents that have competed internationally within the last two seasons and just haven’t met the requirements but for those that haven’t had the chance to at all.New pairs, first year seniors, and skaters coming back from a season off all have had limited chances to earn minimums at best, with some skaters not having a realistic opportunity to compete at all. The only non-canceled events where a skater could earn their minimums have been and will be in Europe, leaving North American and Asian skaters out of luck unless they decide to travel abroad in the middle of a pandemic. Japan in particular said early in the season that they weren’t sending skaters to any of the Challengers this year. While it won’t be a problem for their stated Worlds team it will be an issue if they have to dip into their alternates: Rino Matsuike, Mai Mihara, and Muramoto/Takahashi all do not have their minimums (this is the first year Rino’s eligible to compete as a senior, Mai missed last season for health reasons, and the Ice Dance team is brand new).I don’t know if letting the limited grand prixs count for the requirement is the right solution (especially since it hurts skaters that couldn’t attend any and the scores were generally inflated) but there’s going to have to be some form of leniency.

I’ve been skating for almost 5 years now, and I’ve always had a problem with arch pain. I recently got edea ice fly’s, and I feel like the pain has been a little better than when I was using the reidell flair boot, but it’s still painful. The pain is mostly on the inside of my arch right behind the ball of my big toe and a little on the side of my foot in that area. I notice that the pain gets worse whenever I put more pressure into the ice while skating. I’ve tried the reidell inserts, but they never worked. Any ideas? A way I could heat mold them? I’m really sick and tired of my feet being in pain all of the time. I feel like my practice could be so much more productive if this wasn’t an issue.
