This took me 3 years 😮‍💨 working on it over each halloween season.

it didn’t turn out quite the way I expected it would from the pattern and there’s mistakes since my stitching has improved a lot over those 3 years. But I’m too lazy to fix them now because I’m so over it lol.

I’m really just proud of myself for actually not abandoning it 😅

I got this "skeleton" cat at the At Home store last week and ordered an "Oz The Great and Powerful" China Doll to hybrid. I had considered the Rainbow High white & grey bodies but really like the bigger form factor.

I've taken the head off the China Doll before and it is really on there. Screws, plastic weld, extra tabs, everything. I believe the best way to get it off is unfortunately to saw directly up from under her chin, then bend or break the flaps around the neck cone. I don't think there's a way to get her head off intact.

The "skeleton" (you see how I'm being here, with the quotes lol) was held together with roughly one million tiny screws. Which is baffling but also makes it great to take apart without breaking anything! And the inside of the head is accessible! And the tail comes off in one big piece and has an embedded wire for posing!!!

The tail has a bulbous rubbery loop at the base. I drilled a hole in the doll body, then squashed the heavenly fuck out of the rubbery loop shoving it through and into the hollow torso. So the tail is just the most perfect tight mod. It poses perfectly and swivels at the base too. I was chuffed with that.

You can see how I popped a safety pin around the cone neck fob. Holds the head on no problem!

I really needed this no-stakes project. I've been beating myself up over the Popples trying to make them perfect. So this one I was like, do whatever, it will be fine, have fun.

It would be nice if I could paint her head to match the body, and maybe paint the body details black instead of baby blue. But realtalk, I have had approximately 16 migraines in the past 19 days and I'm not optimistic about any project progress. 😅

It's my understanding that migraines commonly ramp up post covid, possibly for a year or more. Please don't expect anything outta me and I'll do my best to pleasantly surprise you 😂
