The sound on the version of this that’s making the rounds seems to be borked. It’s also been kinda cut to ribbons… and everybody deserves to see the full work.
So here’s the whole commercial as it appeared on British/Irish TV. (And it has to be said that I still wonder what that period’s ad agency was [singly or collectively] smoking. But the ads were a huge success from the moment they appeared…)
When I was working on a development project at Filmation, my office was down the hall from Arthur Nadel’s—he being the producer of the first He-Man series. There was a lot of socializing between my office and Art’s (not to mention the office between, where Robby London and Paul Dini worked)… and from knowing Art, I strongly suspect he’d have found this completely hilarious.
