Magic.

It is an elusive and mysterious element, made of the very essence that exists in all living things, and it flows through the breeze, causing wind chimes to tinkle sweetly on the eaves of homes that sprawl across the countryside. Magic is the light that illuminates the darkness and brings hope to those who believe in it.

As (Name) walked through the old dirt path to the next village, he felt the soft earth beneath his bare feet and the gentle breeze that made his cloak sway. The spring air was refreshing after the cold winter that had passed only weeks before, and he saw wildflowers popping up across the vast field of green plains. The blades of grass whistled slightly in the wind, and the sky was clear, with not a trace of white along the endless blue above him. The sun hung high, giving him warmth that was not overbearing like the scorching summer sun.

The wanderer's clothes were tattered and worn, and his cloak had faded from wandering day after day, never staying in one place long enough. Yet, he stood out amongst many, as he possessed no Grimoire, and barely spoke a word, yet he wielded magic like no other.

(Name) hummed pleasantly as he walked, having just left the heart kingdom a few days prior. The wanderer was not detected by the heart kingdom as he left their border, and his feet hurt from walking so long. "The town's a ways away... Maybe a nap would do me good," (Name) smiled as he wandered to the field, laying on the grass and looking up at the sky. He used his old leather bag as a pillow and stared up at the sky before pulling the cloak's hood over his eyes, intending to continue his journey when he awoke.

Flickers of light and sound played in (Name)'s dreams, like eyes closed before a fire, and occasionally he saw things he wished he hadn't. Blood, the mountain leaked blood, and light burned at the top like a sword. There was screaming, crying and black horns like the devil.

Awakening, he looked at the darkness of the sky, with stars spattered across like ink stains. "Oh dear, that wasn't a nap," (Name) mused to himself. Lifting his hands, he gently used his fingers as a brush, and moved the stars themselves to look like waves. "I hope you see this..." He whispered into the night, his heart heavy.

When morning came, (Name) continued his walk and noticed people flying above him on brooms with a smile. He wondered where they could be going, maybe on an adventure of their own or to see family. Whatever it may be, he hoped they were safe on their journey. "Capital... Fifty kilometers," the old wooden sign said, and (Name) shrugged. "Wouldn't hurt to visit..." Perhaps they had good food. He had yet to see the Clover Kingdom, and its capital would be a nice start. Maybe he could grab some supplies on his way.

(Name) kept a tiny canvas and a travel paint set with him, painting his journey and every place that caught his eye. The field he was leaving was his newest addition. A day's walk took two, as the wanderer stopped to take naps or eat periodically before continuing his journey.

"That's a tall kingdom," (Name) whistled as he looked at the mountain-like kingdom in wonder. Why was it so tall? Well, the big ol' castle was tall, but why was the town on some ledge? (Name) had questions, and he wanted answers.

But first, he wanted to find an inn or hostel of sorts, tired from all his walking as he entered the city. (Name) paid no mind to the stares, as he knew he stuck out from his worn, painted cloak and his lack of shoes, or the fact that anti-birds flew away from him like he was the bringer of death. His feet were cold against the cobblestone, looking around the city curiously as he went through the lower end. Children looked curious as he smiled kindly.

"Yeah, they're all coming for the star festival," he overheard and hummed to himself. He hadn't even been to a festival in a while... Maybe he should stay in the capital for it.

Fandom: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Rating: G Words: 1.4K~ Summary: A dozen days past, Aryll still remembers exactly where she stood at the precise moment of the Upheaval’s rising… at the precise moment she realized something terrible must have happened to her brother and Zelda. (Minor spoilers for TotK initiating events. Set in the future of a slight canon divergent AU where both Link and his younger sister Aryll wake up on the Great Plateau.)

First TotK fic! This is ridiculously self indulgent and basically written just for my entertainment, lol. If anyone else happens to enjoy this, then cool! That’s simply a bonus.

This fic is a sneak peak at a young adult Aryll. She’s around eighteen or so here.

Also a big F you to tumblr formatting, which no longer allows me to underline text, or even copy underlined text in. Ughh. Y'all just gonna get bolded text where it's supposed to be underlined, sorry.

Unspoken Upheavals

A dozen days past, Aryll still remembers exactly where she stood at the precise moment of the Upheaval’s rising.

Everyone does, really. How could one blame them? The mortal psyche does love internalizing such damning, horrifying moments of dread, after all. And over time, with enough traumatic exposure, it simply becomes easier to remember the tragedies and the hardships over life’s gifts and delights.

In those early years of reconstruction after the Calamity’s end, Hyrule’s joy was swiftly undercut by this crushing aura of… unease. Of disbelief. This lingering hunch that their burdens had not truly ceased, not forever. So when people started mysteriously falling ill after venturing near Castle Town’s ruins and the ancient tech excavation sites… when Purah and her new young protégé began looking into that troublesome ‘gloom’ they detected wafting up from the newly unearthed catacombs… when— mere days after her brother and Zelda ventured underground to investigate— the whole castle itself rose up upon a monstrous plume of malice and chunks of ruins began plummeting from the sky… it was hard for people not to fixate on the worst possibilities… to allow this singular, terrifying, historic occurrence to sear itself into their memories forever.

She was in Kakariko at the time, visiting Paya and all the others for a little while before her upcoming trip to the Gerudo region to see her girlfriend. A few hours had passed since Zelda’s last communication, but she wasn’t worried then. After all, Link retrieved the sword from its pedestal under the Great Deku Tree before their departure on this quest. The Blade of Evil’s Bane at the zenith of its power and wielded by the most talented swordsman in all Hyrule simply shouldn’t fail.

Yet fail they did.

Aryll doesn’t have any way to prove her hunch yet, but she fears the Master Sword was destroyed that morning.

As she rushed out from Impa’s home where she was having tea and caught her first glimpse of the massive stone rings careening down towards the village like comets vying to collide with the very skin of the earth— pulsating tails of green energy tracing their calamitous journey towards the surface as her friends and neighbors screamed at their approach— her first instinct as one talented with sight beyond was to tune her mind towards the ancient spirit who dwells within Link’s weapon.

She felt nothing. Nothing but silence, when on any other day she could at minimum pick up on her warm, quiet hum.

As reliable as ever, Kakariko’s citizens spun into a charitable frenzy after the ruins’ landing, immediately rushing to aid anyone who might’ve been injured by this unexpected upheaval, or to console and assist those whose homes had been destroyed. No fatalities were discovered, thank goodness— not even a wayward cucco’s— but as the hours ticked ever onwards… Aryll simply couldn’t ignore that sinking, grief-stricken feeling that something terrible had happened to her brother. To Zelda, too.

Because if that blade were to be broken, the very spirit within silenced, then—

“Aryll!” the voice before her prompts with a snap of her fingers. “Focus! Stay with me, here.”

She inhales sharply, shaking away all thoughts of the recent past. “Sorry, sorry— what were you saying again?”

Purah huffs, clearly just as stressed and frazzled as she feels right now.

“I was trying to tell you that— based on our current lack of intel— I think it’s time that we officially declare Link and Zelda missing.”

Aryll freezes in her tracks, the very words echoing within her mind unchecked. It takes all of her strength to even halfway retain her composure, to not break down right here and now.

“Wha— y’mean, this soon?” she says, voice catching a little in her throat.

“Come on, now. Be realistic. It’s been twelve days since the Upheaval. Twelve days with zero contact and zero clues!”

“But— the chasms, if you’d just let me go, let me search down there, I could—“

“Could what?” she returns, tapping her pen against her opposing hand. “Almost die from gloom sickness, like everyone else who’s walked even a few minutes in that pitch black hellscape? I’m telling you the exact same thing I’m telling Josha, and that’s no. You’re too damn valuable to us to go galavanting off into the dark with nothing but your own recklessness to guide you!“

She crosses her arms, reluctantly resigning to this command.

(For now, at least. She’s sure she’ll find a moment to sneak off sooner than later.)

“What would you have me do, then?”

“First, we’re gonna circulate these missing posters all over Hyrule,” Purah says, slapping her hand upon the thick stack of papers resting on the table beside her. “Every town, every stable… I want every single soul on this gods-forsaken continent to be on the lookout for our princess and your brother. Then, once you’re back, I’m assigning you to Captain Hoz, and the rest of his search party.” She gestures towards the troop in the middle of their drills at the other side of Lookout Landing. “Since you’ve got a real talent with spirits the others don’t have, I’m kinda hoping you might be able to like, y’know… pick up on the subtler details.”

Aryll sighs, knowing exactly what she’s alluding towards. “I’ve already told you— I can’t feel the Master Sword at all. It’s like… that day, a string was cut, and then- poof! Its spirit gone, entirely void from my awareness. I haven’t felt it since.”

“Well, I still haven’t lost hope that it’ll resurface. So let me know the second you feel any differently, will ‘ya?”

“Yes, ma’am,” she nods, and strides forwards to pick up a pile of flyers, as well as a carton of nails and a mallet. “I’ll start my journey at dawn.”

Purah’s expression bends into a faint scowl, that well known glimmer in her eyes betraying a woman deep in thought. “Y’know, it’s a shame ol’ Linky and Zel had our best Purah Pad prototype. Otherwise, I could fit you up with a paraglider and send you on your way in style,” she says, gesturing towards the recently completed Skyview Tower shading the deck from behind. She hums, pressing a lone finger against her chin. “Although… we do have that old spare hanging about in the Hateno lab… it would certainly take a few days, but if I installed all the appropriate driver updates, it should still be able to interface with the terminal…”

Her stomach lurches at the very notion of being launched Din knows how high just for one of Purah’s experiments. “I think I’ll take my horse, thank you.”

“Pah,” the scientist rolls her eyes. “Where’s your spirit of adventure? If Link were here, he’d try it in a heartbeat!”

“Yeah, well… unlike my brother… I don’t actually have a death wish,” she retorts, slipping all the missing poster supplies into her satchel and slinging it over her shoulder. “I’ll take all the stables and villages on the west side of Hyrule, okay?”

“Sounds great! And, hey…”

Aryll pauses right at the edge of the stairs, her hand brushing against the wooden rail.

While it’s simply a fact that her and Purah have never been particularly close, there’s nevertheless a spark of fondness evident in her tone that injects a bit of much needed warmth into her troubled, forlorn heart.

“Be careful out there, will you?”

The faintest echo of a smile whispers across her lips. “You too, Doc.”

A dozen days past, Aryll doubts she’ll forget the exact crossroads she passed through when she finally resigned herself to the reality that her brother is missing, possibly dead.

She’s trembling so hard when this belated wave of despair hits that she has to dismount on the side of the path. As patient as ever, her beloved Makk remains still as she leans against his side, sobbing sloppy tears into the thick, soft fabric of his saddle pad. The satchel upon her back grows heavier and heavier, its contents damning proof of the future she was dreading:

A future without Link. Without Zelda. Without the swordsman and and goddess-blooded princess Hyrule relies on to remain intact, in such times of struggle. But moreover… a future without the people she dearly loves.

“Promise me, you stubborn idiots,” she prays aloud, her voice cracking amidst the rawness of her grief. “Promise you’ll come back to us alive…”

Personal fandom holiday time!!!

December 27 is the day Callie killed Peter, and the same day 12 years that shit goes down in a fashion that kicks off the final stretch of the whole story. :) :) :)

So in honor of that, here's a bit!

Callie POV

Callie was wearing impractical shoes because she was excited. Sure, she might break an ankle trudging out into the pitch-black woods in three-inch heels, where roots the size of wolves lurked beneath the ice, but she might not. And she’d sure as hell look good either way. And that wasn’t all. Just before she left her room she noticed Peter’s sweater in a ball on the floor near the closet, and she giggled. Never even gave it back. What an ingrate. She slipped it on as an inside joke with herself, because Peter wouldn’t see it under her coat. Wielding Peter’s power wearing Peter’s sweater. Funny. “When are you gonna tell me what we’re doing out here?” She clung to his coat, allowing him to support her as the canopy of evergreens began blotting out the grey midnight sky. It began to snow in earnest now, like their globe got shaken. “I have something I wanna show you, but it’s secret,” she said. “You know there’s layers and layers of detection wards all over the castle, totally invisible, right? What I have here, it might set ‘em off, that’s why we need to be way outside the castle walls.” She could just imagine what she could barely see - him, shaking his head at her in the darkness. “You’re a lunatic.” “Yeah, but do you like it?” Crunch, crunch went his boots. “Jury’s still out,” he said, but she could hear the smile in it. The way he’d put up with anything if she was the one doing the asking. Maybe he was even excited to break the rules for once: Sweet Peter. They reached the tiny glade where she’d spent hours this winter practicing for this moment. She didn’t even dare hang lights this time. The moment was too fragile, too momentous for any unnecessary risks. She reached down into her shirt, facing him and his expectant eyes as his warm breath swirled in between them. She unsheathed the blade. “I see,” he said. “And I’m guessing this is more than just some knife?” “It’s an orblex.” His eyes widened. “Callie, these are illegal.” “So’s drinking, you’re only twenty. Who cares. Sit down,” she said, making the motion herself without taking her eyes off him. “Gimme your hands.” “What are you gonna do?” They sat so close together they formed a little wall with their knees, and she wasn’t deliberately casting anything to see by but all the same, the build-up of her desire was coaxing the orblex open before she even meant to begin. It glowed already, its shifting hues casting Peter’s face in stained-glass light. “I’m gonna show you what it’s like to fly.”

Harry Potter is BLIND AU

1. Not only the killing curse failed to kill Harry and gave him a scar, It also weakened his eyes that made him partially blind, and it cannot be temporarily removed even when drinking Polyjuice Potion to mimic people who can clearly see.

2. Harry’s eye are still green as Lily’s but they are milky white of shade

3. Harry’s scar has lichtenberg figures that stretched down on his white-ish green eyes

4. Harry can see colors and shapes but it is vague and blurry, his vision isn’t completely darkness

5. Dumbledore asks a muggle-born friend to translate all of Harry’s list of Hogwarts textbooks to braille copies from each upcoming school term in advance so he can read them when he starts attending school. He cast the Feather-light charm on them since braille books are heavy and bigger than normal books, Dumbledore already started the translations process after he delivered Harry in the Dursley’s house.

40. Eventually the wizarding world became familiar with Britain's popular radio program and kindly requested them to expand it in other nations which Harry approved of. Then so on the ‘PotterWatch’ became the official radio program in the entire wizarding world. Every radio around the magic communities has the logo PW to honour Harry’s heroic deeds and inventions as his eternal legacy. Rita Skeeter immediately lost her reputation because nobody reads her scathing articles anymore (Serves her right!)

The PotterWatch station of Britain is heavily controlled and protected by the Potter-Weasley family clan rather than the Ministry to prevent it from ever being corrupted like the time when Fudge and Voldemort used the Daily Prophet to target Harry. Rose Granger Weasley became director of the PotterWatch then she will pass the position to another Potter-Weasley family member if she retires someday.

CHOOSING ONE FOR SHOKO WAS TOUGHHH but eventually i landed here ….. this one is entirely vibe-based but. just. the plot…. the pirates and planes and high-speed chase scenes and the castle in the sky with all its advanced technology….. especially the castle. the robots!!!! the retrofuturistic style in general is soooo shoko…. and obviously the war themes but that’s kind of a given for any of miyazaki’s works. honestly i think porco rosso is very very shokocoded too but i had to give that to another one of my blorbos….. this movie just makes me feel so nostalgic and i think the themes fit shoko a ton :3

honourable mention to the ghibli lupin movie that i Have Not Seen but i just KNOW shoko would love it. trust. anything detective/phantom thief based makes me think of her

kenny - the boy and the heron / nausicaä of the valley of the wind

I COULDN’T DECIDE 💔 nausicaä was another big contender for shoko’s movie but i just think it’s too weird and freaky to give to anyone but kenny. that movie TRAUMATIZED me as a child. and i think kenny would love it. also just???? the creepy bugs????? nature vs humanity?????? those themes feel so kenny. he’d like the protag a lot i think!!

Castle Walls

Although Wild said the Malice was all long-gone, several years gone, in fact, Hyrule could feel fingerprints of it in every crevice of crumbling stone and clinging to the threads of every tattered tapestry. It clung to him like maple syrup, filling his lungs and coating his face. It had suffused this castle for a century, and memories like that didn't disappear right away.

Hyrule felt for the castle, honestly. He reached out to feel the smooth bricks of the wall, crafted perfectly to fit in their places. Like this castle, he'd had curses in the hallways of his veins and monsters plaguing him that he could never shake. He wondered if this castle remembered the light of ages past, or if the Malice and blood consumed every good memory.

The monsters were all gone, now, though Wild had talked about how clearing this place out had been an endeavor lasting an entire year and then some, even without the resurrecting blood moons. He spoke fondly of the place, despite the monsters, and mentioned multiple good memories associated with its rooms.

Hyrule kept his ears open as he walked forward. He wouldn't put it past any monsters to somehow sneak inside and wait for unsuspecting restorers and scholars. He kept his own footsteps light. His staff could make a lot of noise, sometimes, but for right now, he kept it hovering rather than tapping or dragging, eliminating noise. He just needed to know if there were big rocks in his way, he could deal with the little ones.

Through no fault of its own, this Hyrule Castle was a maze of broken walls, rotting floors, and twisting passageways. Every few minutes, Hyrule detected a slight shift in the magical imprint of this place. Although his own home's castle was newer than this one—and wasn't that a thought, it was already ancient—it had echoes of those same shifts in magic, places where some enterprising soul had added to the structure.

Each castle Hyrule had ever visited felt somewhat like this. Well, every castle except for Four's home's own. That one was barely an embryo compared to this ancient soul, this massive creature hailing from the forgotten past. This particular bit of the castle was friendly and familiar under Hyrule's feet and fingers. If he had to guess, he'd say that this particular section had lasted the longest, perhaps even stretching back to Sky's era. Wouldn't that be a feat.

Hyrule's staff bumped up against something, and he paused to determine what it was. A combination of the staff and his hands told him that he'd run into a door blocked by a pile of rubble that spilled out into the hallway, which was what had caught his attention. This door quite possibly hadn't been opened yet in this era. The pattern of rubble made Hyrule wonder if the door had been sealed off for some reason.

Hyrule wasn't stupid, but he was very curious. He cleared enough stone out of the way to get through, switched his staff for his sword, and tested the door. It was stuck, of course, though he didn't think it was locked.

With some pushing, listening, and application of oil—which should really be in every dungeon delver's tool pouch, Hyrule didn't know why everyone thought he was crazy for having it, it unstuck things and you could cook with it—the door squeaked open.

As expected, a few keese shrieked and flapped out at Hyrule. He stabbed out at them, their locations betrayed by the noise of wings, and took care of them before anyone else could hear. He listened for a moment longer, then determined that they had been the only monsters in the room. He took his staff out again to explore this new place. A spark of joy lit in his heart at the prospect of discovery and came out as a smile. The others didn't call him traveler, wanderer, or too curious for his own good for nothing.

This new room absorbed echoes, as if it had carpets and tapestries against every stone surface. It smelled like dust and old paper. Hyrule stepped forward cautiously, wary of traps, but nothing sprung up at him. His feet went silent on the old carpet.

Well, first things first. Hyrule explored the perimeter of the room, finding bookshelves, a chest of drawers, and a writing desk with old ink and pens sitting on top next to a sealed, stuffed envelope. Curious. Hyrule ran his fingers over the wax seal. It was too big for Hyrule to cover it with two fingers, with a clear impression of the Hylian royal crest. He couldn't tell which variant of the crest it was, though. He tucked it away to ask someone to read later.

Two small sofas and a low table filled the center of the room. A sitting room, perhaps? Hyrule breathed a small sigh of relief when he finished finding all the furniture, and none of it had skeletons sitting on it. Not that he'd expected to find skeletons, but skeletons would be an adequate reason to brick up a room like this.

Now that Hyrule paid attention, actually… the ugly dying gasps of Malice had no anchors in this room. He could feel it in the corners, gathering like dust, but it seemed to have missed this room entirely. Several objects on the shelves actually seemed to combat Malice, giving off such an aura of light that Hyrule couldn't believe that this place had managed to go unscathed the entire century.

Many other types of magic sat on the shelves and in the drawers, too, magic that Hyrule barely recognized. With gentle fingers, he touched some of the artifacts, noting their varied materials and distinct magic signatures.

This carved flute had been worn smooth by many fingers, and had an ancient divine blessing worked into the carved vines that had preserved it from rot and decay. This intricate tiara of sturdy steel had been crafted by fey, the helpful sort with no guile or true trickery in their magic. The smooth porcelain and powerful magic of an ocarina took his breath away, and a series of small paintings framed in carved wood had bits of every sort of magic Hyrule had ever felt.

Hyrule didn't doubt that this room contained valuables, but he was beginning to suspect that these artifacts were more than merely priceless.

Someone's footsteps made their way down the corridor outside, pausing for a brief instant outside of the room Hyrule had found, then continuing. That someone was very clearly Flora, her identity given away from both her slight limp and the wellspring of divine magic inside of her. It lay mostly dormant, but the castle walls remembered her, and they reacted to her like a beloved friend.

Flora hesitated later on, then turned around to come back. She waited outside the door, pacing and poking.

Hyrule pulled his hands away from the extreme softness of a fur mantle soaked in shadow magic. "Flora?"

"...who's there?"

Could she not see him? Hyrule grabbed his staff and headed for the door. "It's Hyrule."

"Really? Where?"

Hyrule stepped out of the room and over the rubble. "Right here. I'm not invisible, am I?"

Flora startled. "Hyrule, hello again. They've all been looking for you. Where did… where did you come from?"

"In there." Hyrule pointed in the right direction.

"Hyrule, that's a wall."

"I think you'd like to see this, actually." Hyrule smiled and offered his hand. "I think what you see isn't what's there."

Flora paused, but put her hand in Hyrule's. Her skin heated his with the pressure of her magic. He guided her toward the opening he could hear, and the door he remembered.

"Step over these rocks," he told her, staying firm so that she could lean on him a little if she needed to. As soon as he heard her step over the pile of rubble, she gasped.

"What is this place?"

"Full of good magic," Hyrule responded with a smile. "Can you feel it? I think it's some sort of… treasury, or museum, maybe."

Her hand left his to explore. "I can barely feel something. It doesn't feel like Malice here, at least. It's so calm. Look at all these books!"

"It's like Malice didn't even touch this room." Hyrule went to the chest of drawers and pulled one open. "Everything in here is so old."

Flora laughed in agreement. "I'm not much of a historian, but I'm about ready to faint."

As Hyrule poked the contents of the drawer, he heard a match striking and smelled a candle catching flame. It must have been pretty dark, he didn't think there were windows in here. His view lightened slightly, though not nearly enough to make anything out.

These drawers were full of fabric, clothes, probably. The material felt old and brittle, but not nearly as bad as it would have been if it wasn't so magical in here. In fact…

"By the goddess," Hyrule said quietly, pulling out the soft cape. His eyes stung a little with tears.

"What is it?" Flora asked. She approached, candle in hand.

"I… I don't know how, but this belongs—belonged?—to my Zelda. The queen," he clarified, though he wasn't sure if Flora knew that he had two Zeldas or would be confused by which he was referencing. "I stole it from her for a few days around Winter Solstice a year or two ago and sewed this trim on it. A year or two from my timeline, I mean. It must be very old, here." He ran his thumb over the textured ribbon.

"It's beautiful." Flora picked up one of the dangling corners. "There's a piece of paper pinned to it… Queen Zelda Aurora Millicent, born five-ninety-five I.W. What does I.W. mean?"

"It stands for Imprisoning War," Hyrule answered. "My present year is… um… six-ninety-nine? Aurora was asleep for a hundred years before I found her."

"Really?"

Hyrule hummed confirmation. "She was a bit disoriented with the time change…"

"That, we have in common," Flora said softly. She set the end of the cape down and bent to look inside the drawer. "Everything in here is labeled. It's all… yes, it's all from other Zeldas. I can't believe it, these things must be millenia old."

"This is one of the oldest parts of the castle, and excellently masked, too." Hyrule smiled to himself and folded up the cape to put away. He didn't know about the name Millicent, he'd have to do some teasing next time he visited his home castle.

Flora gasped aloud again as she picked up something from the chest's top, something that rattled. "Preserved seeds. This right here is a treasure trove worth… I can't believe it. Several of these species went extinct with the Calamity! Blueberries… blackberries? And cultured wheat!"

"You haven't had blackberries here?" Hyrule asked. He paused, then reached into his belt pouches.

"I've never had them, no. This is going to do wonders for the ecosystem…"

Hyrule's fingers found his paper packets, each folded in a different way so he could tell them apart, and he pulled the right one out. "Blackberries are all over in my time, though very little else is. I dry them to take everywhere. Here, try a few. They're better fresh, but… maybe you can grow some later."

He opened the packet and offered it out. Flora took one, but didn't eat it right away.

"It won't bite," Hyrule smiled. "And I don't think you'll cause a paradox if you try it."

Flora laughed once. "You're perceptive." She popped the dried blackberry in her mouth. "Oh, I think I might cry."

"Oh, um…"

"Don't worry," Flora said, though he definitely heard a sniff. "There are a lot of wonderful things in here. I wouldn't have found it without your help, so… thank you."

Hyrule shut the drawer and held his staff close. "Well, I sort of just stumbled across it… but I'm glad there are seeds." He changed the subject. "Do you have anywhere to grow them? It might be best to keep them in a greenhouse away from any remnants of Malice, or cross-contamination, at least until you know what you're working with."

"Hyrule," Flora began, a sly smile sharpening her tone, "Are you a gardener?"

"Me? Oh, no, not really, I just… tend what comes my way. Any gardens in my time have to be protected with light magic, I just happened to learn a lot talking to the people who actually know what they're doing. And I like plants in general."

"Well." Flora rattled the seeds again. "I think you and I are going to be good friends, Hyrule."

Hyrule smiled. "I think so, too."

Umm well idk why I shifted to here but anyways so ong the first time it was a waterpark yk the game and it was hella fun and on top like in the sky there was the users and I kept going on all the rides it was great 10000000/10

This wasn't my finest moments but I shifted to the horror game of Roblox and omg let's just say I'm scarred for life like I kept dying and respawning in this boat and there was the creepy thing like it was a girl with long dark hair I still remember her face jump scare -1/10

3: obby

Now this was fun but I kept raging like one I forgot to get the checkpoints so I had to restart to the start like I WAS SCREAMING and then I won and you know the prizes yeah I was there for a long time

Milk choco cookie- Dark Choco’s mama. Quite similar to crunchy chip In that her family had an alliance with the snow lions. Died due to a genetic condition. *ancient*

Vanilla Cheesecake Cookie- The younger sister of Choco dipped berry. Trusts her sister with her entire being and never questions her sisters motives. The two sisters also own soulstones. *epic*

Choco dipped berry cookie- Raised her sister since she was 7 due to their parents dying. Everything she does is so that her sister never is miserable and has a great life, which doesn’t turn out good. *epic*

PERSONALITY

Child: As a child, Kathryn grew up in a small cottage in the beautiful town of Castle Combe. Her brother was a few years older and together they ran through the streets and played in the trees. They also loved to play in the river and under the bridges. He would teach her about many things as she was constantly curious about the world. Jasper would tell her stories and she idolized him. Near the end of the first Wizarding war when Kath was 9, their father John was killed by an injured Death Eater that was mistakenly taken to the Muggle hospital he worked at.

Teenage: After their fathers death, the two of them started to drift apart. Jasper became fascinated with time and started to distance himself from his family as he spent all his time working. He was very brilliant and ambitious. Eventually, at the age of 15, he managed to create a time turner that didn’t have the restrictions. It allowed him to go back in time as far back as he wanted and stay as long as he wanted. He went with his friend and they attempted to kill Lord Voldemort before the war started. His friend Duncan was killed and the time turner was shattered in the fight. Jasper escaped and was stranded in 1970. He couldn’t return home as he was just born. Kath spent her teenage years at Hogwarts devastated at her brothers disappearance and constantly sought the night sky for answers.

Adulthood: After Hogwarts, she started a job at the Ministry as a Seer for the Hall of Prophecies. She would record anything she saw in the stars into crystal balls. At long last, she eventually reconnected with her brother Jasper, now 15 years older than he should be. He was now 17 years older than his sister, instead of 2 years like normal.

the castle sits in one of the many cozy dips of the hills, puffing smoke into the sky. it is a rather cold day out, and the little fire needs to work a little harder to make sure the inside of the castle is warm enough. for the time being, howl has made himself scarce, running freely across the small forested areas and basking in the sights when he can. he's made sure the castle isn't detectable from the sky, nor to anyone who might wander near it. he has little worry as it is, with how well the castle is fortified. but it's always better to be safe rather than sorry.

he does return eventually, a twig rife with small cherry blossoms wound around his sleeve. he approaches @adversitybloomed quietly from behind, peering over her shoulder for a good few moments while the twig slowly unwinds itself and settles in his palm, where he clutches it loosely. ❝ are you reading or are you writing ? ❞ he asks, side-stepping his way around her to get a closer look. in the same moment, he lifts the twig up, twirling it between his thumb and index fingers. ❝ i'm thinking of having calcifer brew something out of this. do you think he'll be able to ? ❞

HSH Febuwhump Day 8 - Panic

The urge to write a dumb fic about Fours fear of green peppers was real. But I resisted because I write too much Four and I need to have at least a little variety this Febuwhump.

His skin feels tacky. Sticky and absorbent, like a sponge for dirt and sand. He scratches his arm and his fingernails darken from the grime. Wars doesn't look at it. He keeps his eyes on the looming stone pillars, trying to pick out human shapes among the rubble and ruin.

An old archeology dig site makes the perfect cover for a band of kidnappers. But there are miles and miles of these out in the Eldin region and only two pairs of eyes. The chances of finding her are infinitesimal. And the chances of finding her before the ritual is even smaller.

He knew that before he set off on this suicide mission. He knew the odds were stacked against them. He knew the chances of success were in the decimals. Why was he so damn confident before? Why was he so goddess-damned foolish?

Warriors feels like puking. He swallows bile, the acid burning the back of his throat.

No, now’s not the time for doubt. He has to believe he was right. That she really is here.

“Any sign?”

Sky’s voice over the earpiece is ice cold. It’s a quiet, deadly fury that makes Warriors shiver despite knowing he’s not the target. He’s sounded like this since the attack ten days ago. And the dark tones have only intensified as the days passed.

Wars has to swallow again just to clear his throat. “Nothing. I’m approaching now. Keep you updated.”

Warriors sticks to the shadows, treading carefully. If this group was good enough to slip past the castle defenses then they’re good enough to set traps. And even if there were no traps, detection could still lead to the death of the hostage.

He has to pause to breathe through his nose, nausea almost bowling him over at the thought. Keep it together. Just one more night. We’ll find her in time. I just need to keep it together one more night.

He enters the main building, 9mm at the ready. He has a silencer but that won't matter if the targets were grouped up. Slowly, he checks every room. His pulse pounds with every step. His eyes were peeled for any sign of recent visitors - footprints, discarded trash, a cigarette butt.

Nothing. It was empty.

It’s not over, He forces himself to think, They could be at the other ruins. Sky could still catch them. We can still save her. If they’re there, then it’s not over.

What are the chances that they’re there and not the three hundred other places they could be?

Warriors feels himself tremble when he lifts his hand to his earpiece. “Anything?”

The minute he waits it the longest he’s ever felt. He can feel every grain of sand on his skin, every smudge of dirt in his hair. The bead of sweat that drips down his face is black when it drops onto the stone floor. He stares at it, transfixed.

Inanely, he remembers that he hasn’t showered in a week.

The radio crackles to life. Wars inhales. Holds it.

Sky’s voice is frigid.

“Nothing here.”

It’s like taking a gunshot. The room walls close in. The moon goes out. The air turns to water. Warriors legs drop out from under him and he lands on his knees, mouth gasping.

He was wrong. They weren’t here. He gambled. He lost.

He argued with superior officers. He stole military resources. He fed his friend false hope and led him on a wild goose chase through empty ruins, stupidly confident in his ability to foresee the enemies movements. He risked desertion.

And for what? Pride? Because he thought he was smarter than everyone else in the room? Because he thought he knew better than the captain, the Sheika, the Queen?

He pounded the ground with his fist. Screamed at the floor.

And in his stupid, selfish pursuit he committed the worst crime of all; He pulled his emotional, desperate friend along with him.

(He would have been okay with it if they’d just managed to save her. He’d - They’d have traded their lifes for hers without a thought. But this - to die without even getting her back-)

He gambled their lives and lost.

He gambled her life and lost!

Warriors trembled, vision blurred. Tears dripped down his face and his lungs burned. He punched the ground again, knuckles splitting open.

He failed everyone he cared about!

Distantly he is aware of the noises he’s making, sobs and wheezing gasps. Aware of the dust his shaking form is kicking up. Aware of Sky’s voice, calling through the radio. But it’s all drowned out, distant.

Until the first gunshots come through.

It’s like a bolt of lightning.

“THEY’RE HERE! THEY’RE HERE! CALL IT IN, CALL IT IN! WARS YOU WERE RIGHT - THEY’RE HERE!”

CSI: Transylvania

"DC Tonu? Is everything okay?"

Raluca had fallen to her knees, the blood still aching on her lips. The taste was... heavy, somehow, thick with grief, a thousand droplets condensed into one. She'd sampled many tainted spatters in her time, her tongue dabbed on old wallpaper and wet concrete, but none had ever made her reel quite like this.

Each smear usually carried its own distinct vignette: a flavour of the person to whom it had belonged, a brief summary of their essence, like a cutting from tree. With that came the spice of fear, danger, the adrenaline of those who'd seen their end coming. This was different, or at least more. The blood held an entire catalogue of deaths; an address book to their final destination. It was murder in liquid form.

"I need air," she said. "Is it okay if I step outside for a moment?"

"Sure - no problem." Humans could be weird around her, but they were usually accommodating enough. "Do you need me to... formally invite you outside?"

"I'm good."

It was a clear night, and Raluca was grateful for the cool, fresh air. The evening shift was good for that: she often needed a breather after she worked, to cleanse her palette from the stain of blood, and a moment in the cold and dark helped her to re-centre herself. The department were good about that. The humans who worked nights were mostly open-minded, and grateful for the insights she could usually provide.

They'd created this role for her. Raluca was the only vampire on the force, as far as she knew, and her colleagues valued her particular expertise. She wasn't the first of her kind to get a normal job, for a given value of normal, but most had a level of wealth and education that took them beyond law enforcement: the larger castles were converted to hotels, and those without invested their hoard in bars, clubs, or other businesses. They had to adjust to the modern world, but they chose to remain in the shadows.

Raluca was different. She had always been a pathologist at heart, even growing up, all of those centuries ago - perhaps just waiting for the advent of forensics, or of modern employment at all. It was easier to get a job in today's market, now that the options had expanded beyond 'baron' and 'serf'. This was her vocation, and she was good at it. Not just the tasting, which came with her nature, but the work. Writing it up. Reporting to her bosses. Liaising with stakeholders. That didn't come naturally to a vampire at all, but she'd taken to it and thrived.

The tasting itself was a matter of control. One drop of blood set all of her synapses ablaze, like peering through a pinhole at the sun. It gave her a glimpse of that person's life from the inside, like the view from a wound: its jagged edges distorted, its slick surface shimmering like a hazy summer sky. In one second, she could taste the entirety of their being, read the contents of their soul... and it took everything she had to tear herself away.

All vampires had an affinity to blood, a weakness that they had to learn to fight. The experience was as addictive as it was potent, and it could easily become a compulsion - it was more deadly than any opiate, worse than any artificial high, because the hallucinations that it gave her were real. It was difficult to shake the sense of wearing someone else's skin. Raluca had to find the strength to look away, like learning how to wake up from a dream, before it claimed her life instead.

Not all vampires could do that. In the absence of a coping mechanism, some found themselves avoiding contact with humans entirely, hiding in their towers or the backrooms of their clubs. Then there were the wild ones. Raluca rarely came across them in her work, but only because they left their crime scenes dry, the corpse as bloodless as the room. The incidents were frequent enough, and she heard the horror stories on the news - frenzied, feral attacks, dismembered bodies found completely drained - but the detectives never needed her assistance there. There was nothing left for her to check.

It was the mortal murderers who liked to make a mess. Each subject was unique, to her tastebuds, but none had ever been quite so unique as this - it was as if tonight's victim had been a cocktail specifically prepared for her palette. Or a venom, designed to tear her mind apart. It wasn't something that she'd ever experienced before, and wasn't something she'd be particularly keen to try again.

Raluca headed back in, but pulled her governor aside. "Sorry boss, can I have a word in private?"

"Sure." They stepped around the murder scene, out of sight of the spatter, and into a side room. "What's eating you?"

"It's the victim... I'm pretty sure he's one of us."

"A vampire?" He paused, as if trying to get familiar with the concept. Humans only knew vampires as predators, a warning from the news, a danger that defied most conventional forms of defence. Raluca's colleagues trusted her, but they would never worry about her safety, stepping out to get some fresh air on her own - it wouldn't occur to him to think of her, or her kin, as prey. "Are you serious?"

"Deadly," she told him. "Cross in my heart, and hope to die."
