Lately, I’ve been spending a lot more time as an Eden guide for moths. I made myself a fun outfit for doing so-- notably for this story, including yellow cape.
Last night, I was messing around in Eden looking for moths to guide, when I lit the candles of three different people at the door and to my surprise, found that they were all sporting yellow cape as well.
They looked like moths, or at least players who could use help doing Eden, so I stuck with them. One of them raced far ahead of us, leaving me and two moths behind. The remaining moths stuck close to me, and we waited for each other so not one got left behind. I had a good feeling about them.
When we reached the building with the first winged light, a new player ran up to us-- we lit their candle, and found another yellow caped player-- not quite a moth I didn’t think, but certainly a friend. We collected them and took them with us.
When we reached the rocky sheltered outcropping in the middle of the rockfall at the beginning of the second area, two additional players ran up and joined us. One sported a fancy yellow cape from the Season of Dreams, and the other had an orange or red cape-- I was never quite able to get a good look at it.
They took longer than the rest of us to get past the rockfall-- the others and I waited for them, and then we were a single team.
The krill area I have no pictures from, because my attention was much more divided trying to get others to safety. At least one of us got krilled around here. The moth with the harp fell down below the pipes and lost all their light, so I flew down to relight them. I friended them here, and flew them straight up to the pipes above, where the other Skykids had all gathered and were calling at us. There was a lot of confetti and spinning when we finally made it back :)
Likewise, the area with the last krill brought trouble. One of the moths ran into the krill’s spotlight, then ran back to where the harp moth and I were sheltering in panic. The krill’s focus changed to us-- I desperately tried to get us back and away, but we didn’t have enough time. Both the moth and I ended up losing light, and were send back to the pipes directly into the path of the rockfall.
I was sure the rest of the group was going to leave us behind at this point-- I figured they would want out of there as fast as possible. To my surprise, they were still calling out to us. I took the harp moth and redid the last stretch past the krill, this time with no casualties, and rejoined the group just inside the door.
I don’t usually go into Stormlock, but I’d already lost light to the krill and rocks and figured I had nothing to lose. Besides, the idea of everyone making it to Orbit together was very sweet, and I didn’t want to abandon any of them now, after we’d made it so far as a group. So into Stormlock we went!
I was the last to die in Stormlock. Sky must have changed it so that friends stay behind you watching until you die, rather then timing out after a few minutes-- all five Skykids called at me until I died.
We all spawned in Ascension at the same time, reinforcing my theory that they hadn’t been sent to the space with the glowing child until after I died. There was lots of celebration with confetti, backflips, and bowing. We then made our way to Orbit.
A party in Orbit-- we circled up for a bit, then waited here, too, for everyone to finish unlocking new wings.
I took the opportunity to friend all the rest of them here. I chose Ofsix as the naming suffix for all of them, because we were... of... six.
Then to be reborn...
...where we made a slightly terrifying Skykid pile in Homespace.
We had Homespace celebration with much spamming of emotes, where a lot of them friended each other as well. I had to log off and go to bed soon after so I could get up for class the next morning-- I spammed yawn and bow emotes, and almost all the players bowed and waved back at me.
This was certainly one of the most memorable Eden runs I’ve been on, and definitely the most populated-- I hope I get the chance to play with them again sometime soon. :)

Dear Newer sky players:
You've probably seen yourself called 'Moths' a few times by Veterans. We call you that because with your brown capes you remind us of adorable little moths!
Most of us think you're adorable too! A lot of us will happily 'adopt' you if you'd like and help be your guide through this world as you learn to test your wings! We'll happily teach you the secrets we know, since we know some things may be more difficult on your own.
Please don't ever think you're annoying us! We understand- you may not have many actions and you don't have chat unlocked, so if all you can do is honk that's okay! We understand! Some people may get annoyed yeah, but most of us will happily honk with you or find a way for you to talk to us! And we understand you can't fly as far as us, since you only have a few stars, so we promise if you take our hand, we'll get you around!
I know for a fact that when I'm with friends and we find one of you, we all get super excited, because we're so happy to see new players getting to enjoy the world we love so much! And for those of you who we friend- we're always so excited to see the day you grow from a moth.
And we hope that you'll find a Moth someday and think back to us, as you offer them a candle and take them, to guide their little light as we guided yours.
May you fill the Skies, and May your lights shine bright in the dark!
