The thing that's so cool about Shadow is that his original motives actually make sense, regardless of Gerald brainwashing him. He went through so much pain on the Ark so that they could find the formula for immortality. So they could cure Maria, his SISTER. And then she was killed. It was all for nothing.

Shadow had every reason to hate humanity. They took everything from him and it was about time he returned the favor.

It was only because of the fact that Maria means so much to him that he changed his mind in the end. Shadow made a promise to Maria and he NEVER breaks his promises. Ever. If it weren't for his pure integrity, Shadow would've destroyed Earth without a second thought.

And he would’ve gone down with the ship. We saw what Shadow was doing when the Ark started falling. He was just standing there, looking out the window. He wasn't trying to save himself in any way. He was just done. So tired of fighting and ready for it to be over.

It was only Amy reminding him of his promise to Maria that gave him the motivation to keep going. To do everything he could to reverse all the damage he'd done.

He had no reason to care. But Maria means that much to him.

One thing I love is how complicated Shadow’s relationship with Gerald was. This man brought Shadow into the world. He gave him life. They spent quite a lot of time together. Gerald trusted Shadow enough to leave him with the responsibility to save the Earth from the Black Arms. He put everything he had into Shadow.

But then you take a step back. Gerald also had to experiment on Shadow a lot. A lot of Shadow’s Ark trauma probably stems from Gerald, not just Maria’s death. When Gerald lost his mind, all sympathy for Shadow went out the window. Gerald manipulated Shadow’s memories to serve his own purposes of revenge. Shadow became just a tool to him. This had a massive impact on Shadow.

I see Shadow as constantly warring with himself over what he thinks of Gerald. Does he hate him? Does he forgive him? Shadow doesn't even know, and I love that. There's no clean cut answer.

In Shadow's story of Sonic 06, when Mephiles gets released and he shoots into Shadow's shadow to give himself a body . . . Shadow stepped out of the way for that to happen. If he didn't, Mephiles would've landed on SHADOW.

SO. WAS MEPHILES TRYING TO POSESS SHADOW OR SOMETHING???

Mephiles taking Shadow's form is already so cool, but imagine the inanely cool scenario we could get from Mephiles POSESSING HIM. Just like- AH-! I'm thinking about it so hard right now.

I love the idea of Sonic and Shadow being so similar but also complete opposites.

Sonic is publicly seen as loud and enthusiastic and Shadow is seen as quiet and closed off. But in private, when only the closest of their friends are around, Sonic is a lot more quiet and Shadow opens up a bit more.

When majorly stressed, Sonic completely shuts down and goes mute. But Shadow is likely to cry or scream.

Sonic's not big on touch except in special situations. Shadow craves touch, but only from those especially close to him, and only refuses it in the most stressful of situations.

Sonic gets a big family. Shadow gets a relatively small one.

Both are competitive, stubborn, and always do what they think is right.

They're reflections of one another.

I JUST HAD A THOUGHT.

So I've seen a few people theorizing that Sonic might straight up die at the end of season 3 and then I thought of something kinda in a similar vein.

Sonic’s clearly losing Shard Energy, which is what put him in such a bad state in the trailer. What if the only way to save him is to merge HIM and what little energy he has left back into the Paradox Prism? Imagine Sonic literally ASCENDS because of this. Yes, they saved Sonic. He's alive, but now he's one with the Prism and can't be separated from it anymore. He's a god-like being now. He's not exactly Sonic anymore.

Because of this new form, Sonic is able to set everything right, restoring Green Hill and allowing the other Shatterspaces to continue existing. But Sonic can't go home anymore. He's progressed too far. He's beyond mortality. So he exchanges tearful goodbyes with all his friends before returning to the Void to watch over the worlds for the rest of eternity.

Aaaaaahhhhhh I'm gonna need to write something for this.

There are two ways this can go.

1: Nine catches Sonic and drains all his Prism Energy at once. Or

2: Each time one of the robot duplicates come into contact with Sonic across the whole season, they take a little bit of his energy. It's gradual. Sonic doesn't even notice. Until suddenly Shadow calls him out for limping. But that's crazy! Sonic’s not hurt, he's feels just fine. His heart is only beating this hard because he's been fighting so much. He's only cold because the Grim doesn't have a sun. He's only shaking because-

Oh. He's shaking. That's . . . not good . . .

Maybe . . . maybe he doesn't feel so good after all.

When did his feet start feeling like bricks? When did he start seeing double? When did he start . . . falling . . .

Shadow notices Sonic’s gone quiet. He turns back to see Sonic collapsing to the ground.

Sonic, Silver and Shadow body swap

What shenanigans do you think they'll get up to?

Hmmm, depends on who's getting swapped where. Alright, let's say this:

Shadow is in Sonic's body

Sonic is in Silver's body

Silver is in Shadow's body

I think the biggest source of chaos would be watching each of the personalities of the Triple S Trio in the wrong bodies. XD Silver being all cute and excited as Shadow, Shadow being grumpy as Sonic, that kind of thing. And the powers would definitely cause trouble! Sonic's never had psychokinesis and Silver's never had THIS MUCH Chaos Energy at his disposal. I feel like Shadow might have a bit of a hard time with Sonic's raw speed, but since he's already fast, he'd get the hang of it pretty quick. And he'd HATE not being able to use his chaos attacks like he's used to. And also the fact that Shadow isn't invulnerable anymore and could get legitimately hurt, which would catch him extremely off guard.

Ooooooo I wonder how Silver would deal with Shadow's Black Arms DNA? I headcanon that Shadow has a few instincts and stuff as a result of that bit of his heritage, so it could be interesting!

OH AND! I wonder if stuff like phobias and mental stuff stays with the body or the mind of the person. Because if it stays with the body, then that means Silver has to deal with Shadow's trauma, Shadow has a sudden fear of water, and Sonic is deathly afraid of fire. >:)

Avatar the Last Airbender theories I had that turned out to be false

So unlike literally everyone else, I didn't grow up with ATLA and discovered it sometime when I was in high school. Can't remember exactly when. Because of this, I created a few theories as I was watching for the first time, trying to predict where the show would go. All of these ended up being completely wrong, but they're fun, so I thought I'd share them!

Zhao becomes the Firelord

Sooooo funny story with this one. I actually had two exposures to ATLA before I actually watched it and one of them was THE SERIES FINALE. I didn't see the whole thing, but I did catch a huge chunk of the ending. So before I even started watching officially, I knew Zuko was gonna be a good guy, which is why I never gave up on him. XD This also means that I got to see Ozai's FACE.

Ozai doesn't show his face in book 1, and by the time I started watching, I'd forgotten what Ozai's voice sounded like. I also had very little idea of who I'd seen Aang fighting in the finale was in the first place. So I kinda took one look at Zhao and said "YES. HIM." The theory went like this:

Zhao slowly climbs the ranks of the Fire Nation over the course of the series, growing more and more power hungry as time goes on. Eventually, he gets to the point where he overthrows/assassinates Ozai and becomes the new Firelord. Aang has to fight him in the finale and Zuko has to take the throne that's rightfully his back.

Imagine my disappointment when Zhao got eaten in the book 1 finale. XD I was so convinced of this theory that I didn't even believe he was really gone for a looong time after this.

2. Zuko is a Double-Bender

Remember the Blue Spirit episode? Of course you do. Well, there's this split second clip as Zuko's rescuing Aang where he picks up a bucket of water and splashes it on a guard or something. I completely missed the bucket on my first watch of this episode and concluded that whoever this Blue Spirit guy was, he was a Water Bender. I then proceeded to get my mind absolutely BLOWN when I realized the Blue Spirit was actually Zuko. I started going crazy with theories that Zuko was secretly a Fire Bender AND a Water Bender. Hence, a Double-Bender. I asked a friend about this theory of mind and she sadly debunked it for me. However, this is still my favorite ATLA theory to this day and I have an entire AU centered around it. One day I'll get around to actually writing it.

3. Jet is a major recurring character

So the other time that I got ATLA spoilers before watching it was when I accidentally half-watched most of Jet's introductory episode. The friend I was with at the time groaned in annoyance at Jet, leading me to believe that he showed up A LOT and he was the worst thing this show had to offer. I fully expected Jet to pop up ALL THE TIME and make a nuisance of himself. I was relieved to discover he doesn't come in nearly as much as I thought he would.

4. Ba Sing Se stuff

Rapid fire round! I thought a lot of things about everything that happened in Ba Sing Se:

Team Avatar all get brainwashed by the Dai Lee except for like Sokka or someone, who then becomes wanted by the entire brainwashed city and has to figure out how to reverse all this.

Zuko happily lives out the rest of his days with Uncle Iroh at the tea shop and never runs into Team Avatar again.

5. Azula alone

Team Avatar frees the entire city of the brainwashing. Specifically Joo Dee.

Yeah, I thought all of Ba Sing Se was brainwashed, not just some people.

I was 100% convinced that Mai and Ty Lee were going to betray Azula at some point during book 2 and then join Team Avatar. I guess this kinda happened? Kinda?

Aaaaand this is all I can think of for now. I'll make another post if I think of more theories I had, but this is about it. :)
