Scampering-up to the Harpy, a single hefty water balloon is deposited into her hands. But hold-on, is-... Is that an apologetic smile on her face? Hard to say as River's gone as fast as she's arrived; but quickly confirmed, as an irritated, dripping form appears on the horizon.

Looks like someone's been tossing water balloons.

Senja wasn't sure WHAT she expected when River came running up to her, one hardly ever could when it came to the assassin. But when the giant orb of water-filled latex was plopped into her hands, all the harpy could do was stare. Why did she even have that with her??

But River was gone before Senja could so much as utter a word. The soggy figure that appeared soon after sort of answered the question… but more pressingly it left HER literally holding the evidence, and the figure was quick to make a beeline for her.

Wide-eyed Senja was just as quick to drop the water balloon and take off after River. If this was payback for dropping her in the fountain… well then, this cycle of lighthearted revenge was never going to end, was it?

So I was thinking back on how someone suggested that Otis is favored by an old god associated with rats and that’s how he got his powers, and I came across this: The god Ninkilim is a widely referenced Mesopotamian deity from Sumerian to later Babylonian periods whose minions include wildlife in general and vermin in particular. His name, Nin-kilim, means "Lord Rodent”. They’re referenced either as male or female depending on text.

"The only experience I have with anything "Sumerian" is from the Exorcist so I'd rather not."

hi, here is the FORM to fill out in order to be sorted for the first coupling. i’m probably going to write this up on friday unless people don’t have time to get to it. since this is based on looks / first impressions, think of your character’s type, what accents they might find the sexiest, or what they might think of the way someone carries themselves. other things might be a factor for them, such as age or height. 

they’re really going off of looks and a hello, some general energy, so you can basically use the info in everyone’s apps to make a judgement call. from there, i’ll randomly generate the order that everyone is picking. 

for those that haven’t seen the show or any previous season, in the first coupling, it’s traditional for islanders to “step forward” for the muses they’re interested in based on initial attraction. that way, the person choosing can choose someone interested in them, or they can go out of left field. even if they’ve already been chosen, your muse can still “step forward” for more people. this is actually the only coupling where it’s nice to go last, because you’ll get final pick and can “steal.” however, if your muse is already picked, they won’t get to choose from the entire pool.

if your muse happens to get their partner “stolen,” it’s just bad luck, and they’ll get paired with whoever’s left at random. if you answer the questions, i’ll get a pretty good idea of how your character will act, and i think everything will hopefully be more clear when you see how it shakes up with the write-up. it will be a little different from the show, because it won’t be divided by gender and whoever chooses will be more free-for-all. 

of course, not everyone will get their first choice – that’s the source of chaos. but let me know if you guys have questions. ♡

Seabunny!Kelek spying on land!Snaps from the water after he sees him one day. Just thinks he's really neat. Does his best to stay hidden b/c he's a silly mer creature, but he's not the fastest. I imagine Snaps is p tuned into his environment, especially when scouting, so I doubt he's unaware of his little water shadow for long at all. Maybe doesn't know /what/ it is, but its not actually bothering him so whatever.

Seabun is just completely enamored. So he does what silly mer people do and finds a v pretty opalized wood or fossil. Probably super nervous b/c he's not sure he can hide fast enough. But he waits till Snaps is around again before he sneaks up and then.

Splsh. Plat.

Snaps most likely sees his goofy tail and maybe even his bright pink booty gills whoosh behind a rock formation. Moments later Seabun peaks out from a different spot in the formation to watch what he does.

on one hand i do agree w all the posts being like the doctor has been queer forever, the comment of "is that who i am now" is not necessarily referring to being attracted to men. however i do think the doctor has shown far more explicit attraction to women during the show, in large part due to (out of universe) opinions on the doctor being queer. and i have to imagine that rtd, a gay man himself, mustve been so excited to write the doctor very explicitly as attracted to men

man it does not stop getting me that aki is so haunted by the loss of himeno. i know i am just full of brainrot but it just hangs over him and the narrative, and the anime in particular highly emphasizes it with tons of motifs. and like, even though he cared a lot about the rookies he was looking out for, their deaths didn't haunt them like hers did. when you really truly deeply care about someone... it sticks with you it pricks right at the core of ur heart. i actually can't believe i forgot for a long time that aki sees himeno's death flash before his eyes again in hell when he looks upon denji and power. having felt that pain of losing someone he loved, there's no way he could do it again. he finally understands why the thought was so excruciating for himeno and why she died for him. it's why he gets cold feet. fuck dude it fucks me up..........

aki entered public safety thinking that he would only really be sacrificing himself, that it didn't matter what happened to HIM and in some meta ways yeah he is the everyman he would be readily disposable in another narrative. what really distinguished aki from the other devil hunters we see die besides his own self-annihilating cause? and y'know for a while that is enough, that ironic innocence that even though he's seen the deaths of his family he really doesn't understand what this kind of quest entails. it never could've just been him in the line of fire, he was never meant to be a person who is alone. of course he would come to care about others so much that he could not bear to see them die because it's simply inevitable it is simply human. his self-annihilation could never be just his own... and it takes himeno's death - "first death" - to realize that. and it takes literally going to hell and back to realize. this quest is not worth the lives, the connections he risks. and by then it's simply too late.
